Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury. Okay, let's do this. Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
To usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
This is the Shawn Salsbury Show.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Commanders beat the Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Rams,
and the Buffalo Bills take down the Baltimore Ravens. The
NFC and NFC championships are set. Shawn Tripleie, what's happening?
Good morning? We got a winter storm barren down on us,
(00:45):
cook it up boards a six seven inches of snow
in the next day.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
What's happening this morning?
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Good morning, good, good morning. Uh yeah, the weather's gonna
take a turn for the chilber, the cold red air.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
But that's all right.
Speaker 5 (01:00):
I would imagine across the country they're feeling the same way,
a lot of different places, but doing great.
Speaker 6 (01:05):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
But uh, weekend of football, the text in the game.
A lot on my mind, man, A lot on my mind,
A lot, a lot of passion in my soul this morning,
trying to I thought we had four really good games
of football, though I did, and whether you like the
results or not, but there was I mean, the shocking
(01:30):
part of Baltimore and Buffalo and Baltimore and Detroit. Should
I say is how careless they were with the football.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah. Five turnovers for the Lions is insane.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Yeah, and I'm sure handed Mark Andrews that just doesn't happen.
He laid to fumble down on the ground and dropped
a two point conversion. These games had everything, and Jade
Daniels is a freaking star, and it's just I mean,
they had everything that Rams had a chance to go
down and win it in the end after a grading
the hell of a comeback by them. It was a
(02:01):
It was an impressive weekend and I know we got
a lot to talk about when it comes to the Texans.
Let me get this elephant out of the room first.
Is everything that you had to have. When I say
the things that we that we last on Monday and
Tuesday of last week said cannot happen, happened one to start,
(02:24):
get this one out there first. It's a loser's lament
to blame the loss on referees. It just is. But
it'd be you'd be obviously naive to think that they
didn't impact the game, especially in the situational and the
Texans problem is they don't play great situational football at
times if you look at the stat line and you
(02:45):
don't watch the games, they quite frankly, for the most part,
kick Kansas City's ass. They physically, I mean they they
handled them most of the time. But it's the same
thing on a team when you play between the twenties
but can't score in the red zone. As a team,
we all say, man, they dominated the stat book, but man,
they just couldn't get the end the kickfield goals, set
score touchdown. They couldn't get the in zone. It's the
(03:05):
same thing whether you look at the stat lines individually
and the way they took care of their business. They
kicked their ass, they did, but the situational football, a
third down here, a missed field go there, and a
make for them. The situational football, the Texans did not
do well enough to win. The calls. A couple of
them were I understand by the letter of the law
on the one when he was standing up, but there
(03:27):
was a couple of calls that they had no business making.
And yes, it does impact the game, but that's not
the reason they lost.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
It was part of it.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
But when Peter Ah, if we don't get those two
calls because eventually there was there's calls that will even
out those didn't we knew going in. We said it,
you better be prepared for the officials are going to play,
are going to I saw something today said, well, right now,
Buffalo has already been charged with a personal foul penalty
against Kansaity Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes already we started yet.
(03:56):
So for me, it's it's the people are gonna want
to play just on the refs, don't I mean, if
you want to have at it, did they impact it?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Do they favor all that is obvious and blatant to
the point of actually integrity and utter embarrassment. That's not
the reason Mahomes is good. Mahomes just does not. He's
the best winner in sports right now. There's no bigger
winner in team sports right now than that guy, and
he just finds to get it done. But the referees
did impact the game, and it's embarrassing. So they're gonna
(04:27):
have to fix that. But let's real quickly go over
what happened. Said you couldn't give Kelsey free reign. But
let me back up a second. The game plan of
the Texans on defense, and I actually thought. Bobby Sloan
called a hell of a game too. I thought both coordinator.
I thought they did a good job the game plan
other than one situation. Defensively, their defense, I'm telling you,
(04:49):
over the next few years this continues to go are
going to be lights out. They already are. And even
Mahomes didn't even have a great game. And that's four
phenomenal four or five quarterbacks they've played really well against.
So their defensive game plan I thought was really good
except one, and they did exactly what I said you
can't do. Kelsey had free run off the line of
(05:10):
scrims the whole time. And how the biggest weapon on
the team not named Patrick Mahomes gets free run like
that is beyond me. You can't do it. So that's
a big reason why they lost. Kelsey had well a
Hall of Fame game.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Seven perception, one hundred and seventeen yards in a.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Touchdown and catching them on space and giving him free
run of it. That's one. Two is this offensive line
is is not fit for NFL football right now. Overall,
I know that's harsh, It's just a fact. Whatever it is.
Whether it's your pissed and you don't and you have it,
(05:49):
you've had enough, and you fight and scratch, hold personal fouls,
whatever it's gonna take. When it comes to just manning
up and kick an ass when it matters single elimination,
they are double a baseball at best, right it is.
(06:09):
It's unacceptable the way they play football. Sometimes in past
protection perfect example another reason why they lost, and I
talked about situational in details. Near the end of the game,
when they go at uh A gap blitz left guardist
who Titus Howard right? Yeah, they walk a guy and
(06:30):
mug him up in the A gap they obviously call
Mike Wright or whatever they call it, Roger or Rita,
whatever they call it, to move the line right because
the center stepped right. You walk a guy up, You
mug a guy in the A gap, and the defensive
tackles got his hand in dirt over you on outside
shade on Titus Howard left shoulder looking from the quarterbacks
vantage point, and I mean he widened. At no time
(06:53):
since you were in the fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade,
has anybody ever taught you to block the outside guy
before the most dangerous man if run. We're all in
sports on defense. Hit somebody in the opposite color jersey
and on offense, on an offensive line, no matter what
you do in blitz pickup, you make sure that the
most dangerous men to my quarterback are stopped first. So
(07:17):
that means you work inside out because it's a shorter path.
Guy walks up, mugs in the A gap. Mug means
he's right there. You know, he's standing there kind of
sugaring in and out. Cinera, I mean you're you're here
in lack of center. Steps right, you have got to
step down and punch and keep a guy of the
AG gap. He steps and opens all runs right through
the AG gap. Now we are in that. That would
(07:38):
be game. They want a playoff game, So this would
be game what nineteen that they played in yesterday? Yes,
game nineteen.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Seventeen seas How can that happen?
Speaker 5 (07:47):
How can I have? And they once again proved exactly
why with eight sacks and a bunch more pressures. And
since CJ. Stroud's feet were really good in this game,
I thought CJ. Stroud got better.
Speaker 7 (07:57):
C J.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Stroud showed me toughness. I think he elevated play another level.
I do after all this up and down this year,
I thought C. J. Stroud made some incredible throws under duress,
but little things like that to become a big thing
and give up all those sacks, you just can't do
it nineteen games into a season and you don't. You're
gonna tightest hard when he was when he was sucking
(08:19):
on a pacifier and then he played his first game
around football. Unless it's not being taught right during the week,
then you better address that guy too to be able
to step down. It's the in a fistfight, if you're
protecting your family or your kid or your animal, or
are you gonna Are you gonna get the coyote that's
forty feet away or the one that's two feet away?
Speaker 1 (08:39):
The two feet sure you are? Yeah, since thing.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
I mean, God forbid any coyotes or anybody's yard. You
get my point. You got the quickest path. That quarterback
is your family. You block most dangerous man come and
you got you know what, punch one and grab the other.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
I don't care. You don't give him free run to
the quarterback. You just don't.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
And they did. There's that Kelsey free rate and how
that guy runs offensive line. Those kinds of sacks, it
is that they were. They are a detriment right now
to this football team. Sadly enough, it's not personal. It's
just a fact. Can't keep doing. They've gotten better at times,
but in that single elimination on the road, and you
know the coordinator you're playing is the best big game
(09:17):
coordinator on defense in this league. And you know what
they're gonna do. And what I tell you about Chris Jones,
they weren't just gonna put him over tunsl or keep
him inside.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
They walked him to the other side.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
And he runs right by the right tackle without even
being touched, like he's in a like he's playing in space.
It's like seven on seven. There's no line in the block.
You barely even get a hand on him. And Chris
Jones ain't small, no, And why you wouldn't mug up
on Kelsey And he's a big body. He's easier to
hit than a guy like Tank Dell because he's easy
to find. It's like, come on, a bigger strike zone.
(09:48):
There's that, and then your special teams, well, this special
teams coach can't say's the best bestal teams coach in this league.
It has been for a while. They got their ass
handed to them on special teams from the opening kick
and then whatever's Boyd's doing, I have zero idea great
effort to strip with the fumble. It almost felt like
the guy was in a different strategy, like he was
(10:10):
in space after the play, running over there, helmet off,
pushing his coach. He's lucky he didn't running the wrong coach.
I mean another. I mean at first I thought, well,
this is this guy doing this for enthusias. It was
talking about bad optic. You know, a coach will come
up and we'll push each other, like what a great play. Yeah,
but to take your helmet off, and so I don't
know was the arguing over the great play? Was he arguing?
Was he mad because he got criticized for forcing of
(10:31):
all the stuff that was going on in my mind
during the game, but the discipline part of that and
how you let that happen. He wouldn't have seen in
the roofield the rest of the day. They got their
ass kicked on special teams. That was a utter choke
job on special teams. And I told you the weather,
I told you number I know you said, what's your
number one priority? I said, you lose the special team's
battle you're in trouble in a game like this. You said,
(10:53):
after all, I said, one thing nobody's talking about a
special team.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
That was the question I asked you, what's the one
thing that no one's talking about that's going to be
a massive key in the game.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
They're watching this offseason because of the three things you
can't do, keep your quarterback standing up right, let Kelsey
take over a game, and get your friggin' ass handed
to you. On special teams. And you know the sad
thing about this, if they just sew up eight to
ten plays, they win, That's right, they win. If they
(11:23):
just referees obviously didn't help. They're not the reason you lost.
They were part of it. All these other things are
the reason you lost. And they still had a chance,
still had a chance. So for me, and the crazy
thing about it is, those are the things you couldn't do.
They flat ass choked on the special teams. They did,
(11:44):
and they got out. Coach now played on special teams
from the first kickoff eight to ten play. Dude, It's
almost like we wrote the script and they decided to
read it last week. And I'm not patting us on them.
I'm just saying they were so obvious. And then special teams.
I just I've been in these playoff games and it's
those things, and it was almost as if that was
(12:06):
uh and this team's a usually a really good special
teams team. They were out coaching, out executing that and
those things on the road against the best team in
football who doesn't lose divisional playoff games, and you and
you hand a gift to them offensive line wise, Kelsey,
free run and special teams, and then a referee didn't
(12:27):
help other than I'm just telling you, man. I thought
the defense was was awesome, and I thought Bobby Slow
called a really good game. They got it going mixed
in pass run, and then they had some guys Nico
Collins to be they made some great plays. But as always,
that team over there just does not lose. They don't
beat themselves, and they didn't. That's half the battle, so
(12:51):
I could go on. It's just the frustration of me
wanting to go off. I it's it is how this
the little thing? How do you not lock a guy
in the a gap will let him run free to
the quarterback. I just I don't understand at this stage.
We all make physical I can handle a physical to
say that's just a dumb mental error. The Texans, with
(13:12):
the way they performed in those big areas, did not
deserve to win. You can't perform poorly in those areas
on the road against the best team of football, home
field advantage and think you're gonna win. And yet they
were still around and played well enough to win because
they dominated otherwise they did.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Yeah, I got some statistics here that backs up that domination.
The Texans yardage wise win the game against the Chiefs,
but it.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Doesn't equate to points.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Let's talk about the red zone inefficiency for the Houston Texans.
Will also take your calls all morning long. Seven point three,
two point two five, seven ninety got a lot of
breakdown with this Texans loss to the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Will continue to roll right here on seven.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Ninety Sean Salisbury, Brian, The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, go.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
We got a lot of football to dig into today,
you know, real quick before you get out to the
phone lines of seven one, three, two two five seven
ninety Sean, you mentioned the offensive line. You mentioned, uh
guys coming through the A gap. All kinds of different
different issues with that offensive line. Did you see Dalton
Schultz attempting to block guys?
Speaker 5 (14:28):
I did.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
It was one of the worst efforts I've ever seen
in my life.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
He was awful trying to block guys. And why he is,
why he.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Is even attempting to try to block and not someone
else chipping with him or something. I don't know if
that's a Bobby Slowck thing or if that's just him
not being a very good blocker.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
It was embarrassing watching There's like three different plays where
car Loftis and other guys just run right by him.
Some of the worst effort, dude, You're in the freaking playoffs.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Be physical. I'm talking.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
He got his ass whooped every time he tried to block.
It's atrocious. It's terrible.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
I mean, they they it was like a Mattador offensive line.
The bulls coming at you and you you put the
boom and pull the red Yeah, kpe away and it
runs right by you. That's that's what That's what this was.
It was Mattador offensive line. Carl Loftus looked like Lawrence Taylor.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
He did. They made him literally look like LT.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
And now he's a hell of a player.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yeah, yeah, No, disrespect to him.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
But dude, come on, if you've worried about Dalton Schultz
and his lack of blocking effort, put in earth Smith Junior,
the bigger body, tight end.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Yeah, it just he's we we know Dalton Schultz is
a pass catcher because he sure ain't gonna dominate the
line of scrimmage block him. But Carl loftis they they
they decided to pin their ears back and once they
saw blood man Spagnola cut it loose, he said, game
coordinator did. He always finds a way to find I
told you when when they see that weakness, they will
(16:05):
attack it and they never quit attacking it.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
They didn't blitz as much as I thought they would
in the first half, but my god, I think it
was fifty six percent was the was the pressure rate
in the ballgame. And I guarantee you ninety percent of
that fifty six percent was in the second half.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Hey, they didn't cut it loose, because that's called adjusting
during a game. You put your game plan in, let's
go about this way, let's see how we're doing. Okay,
they're moving. Let's make some adjustments in the second half
and second quarter and moving into the third quarter, and
they did, and the Texans had a hard time.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Dealing with it.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
Texans are their first team in NFL history to outgain
their opponent by one hundred yards, have zero turnovers and lose.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Yep, we gave you the reasons why. Good miss man.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
We're texting you and I me, you and Triple were
texting during that game, and it's just it's maddening because,
like I go back to last week, we broke down
this game in every way possible. The entire week we
talkealked about offense, We talked about defense, special teams, referees,
we talked about everything. And early in the week I
asked you for keys, I asked you for things that
(17:10):
were not being talked about. You talked about special teams.
What happens in the start of the damn game sixty
five yard return, Well, they're special teams, Chris boy with
the penalty, they missed the field goal, they missed a
point after they had one blocked.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Not a good punt.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
They also got to took a sack when they were
in field goal range, kicked him out of a field
goal position, and you saw him push a fifty plus
yarder to the right fairbird. Did they lost the ways
you could? Like I said, I thought it was such
an impressive performance by them. Other than the three things
you got there, the three, one, two and three were
(17:49):
quarterbacks got to be protected. Eight sacks. Kelsey can't have
free run off the line of scrimmage, get a free
run to do whatever he wanted one hundred and seventeen
yards or receive. You gotta win the betch teams battle.
And that was my number one. So I'm working from
bottom to top number one. And they not only lost
the special teams battle, they got pounded into submission special
teams wise.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Joe Mixon ran the football well eighty eight yards on
eighteen carries. He averaged five yards of carry. Yeah, he
was running like a beast like he always does. And
Stroud was making some throws and they were getting the
and you know what, they handled the weather just fine.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
I thought slowk had had a great mixed in aggressiveness
with pretending, you know, doing the right thing, not getting
away from the run and abandoning it and not just
being a passing fancy, but also on the other side
of making sure that you took some shots and were
then challenged them some I just then the numbers said, man,
the Texans are going to win the game. And they
(18:43):
kept hanging around and hanging around and then but they
don't play great offensive situational football.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
That's the problem.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
And you know who plays it as good as anybody
in the world, the Chiefs, Chiefs, right. So for your
sixty plays that you're you're better than them, the eight
or ten or twelve plays there better than you. Or
a field goal kick, a special teams block. Ah. They
they their quarterback got didn't give up. I mean, their
line didn't give up a sack, but boom, your quarterback did.
(19:11):
And once again, Will Anderson continues to elve the ad dressers.
They continue to elevate and take their game to a
whole new level. This defense is special. But I still
don't understand their approach to Kelsey at the line of scrimmage.
The one guy, the one guy that you couldn't let
run free because he is huge in the postseason. That's
who he is. He's got like all He's got like
(19:32):
one hundred and seventy catches in postseason in his career.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
It's like the second most of all time. He's arguably
the greatest tight end in the post past catching tight end,
he's I mean all the way and then all the
way around. He's arguably one of the best.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Oh yeah, free ticket to the Hall of Fame. I
wasn't free. He worked his ass off and that's why
he's headed. But you can't. I know it's been down
a little bit. But if you took it for Grant said, well,
he's not the threat he used to be. Bad idea.
It's just, especially in the postseason, he's a crutch to
lean on. And and and then they for eight sacks. Yeah,
I mean it, and it looked every bit that bad.
(20:05):
I just it's such an awful way to lose, and
the referees did not help. That's not the reason the
Texans lost. You if that's the only reason you give me,
you didn't watch. But the Texans dominated them in so
many ways. But we've seen that this year. And then
the situational football comes up and they do more than
everybody else.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
And now they're hosting what's going to be one hell
of a game and oh lose a turnover. Detroit got
beaten the turnover batle what happened?
Speaker 1 (20:32):
They lost?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Baltimore got beaten the turnover bat what happened and now,
and I hate to say this, because they'd have done
it to Josh Allen, they'd do it to Lamar, They'll
do it to any of them. Is now, it's the
best quarterback never to have won a Super Bowl currently
and it's going to be Lamar Jackson. That that that
narrative is going to continue because he did not play
his best game interception right, right, and yet he still
(20:54):
did He made some plays that he's just so good.
But you know, Mark Andrews got to catch it, can't
lay down. So but what I'm saying is people gonna
blame it on Lamar.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, the narrative is gonna continue, right.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
And it's not It's not fair because there wouldn't be
in any position if it wasn't for air.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
It's if you're a media member, that's what you're talking
about this morning on your radio TV show, the saying
that Lamar Jackson is the reason they lost, and you're
just an idiot, You're just it's it's redic's it's it's
a lazy narrative this morning.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Did he play well? He didn't play his best game?
Speaker 4 (21:23):
No, he did not, right, but he played well enough
for them to win, they had the football and to
try to tie the game right and and bonehead to
drop the football. I mean, that guy won't drop that
blindfolded if you play to him a hundred more times,
and it's just, uh, he'll never forget it, especially as
a good players he is.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
So you got that. And then I mean that that
AFC Championship game is going to be watched, must watch,
but turn it and you you just it's such a
fragile postseason. I just.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
It's very very hard for me to watch NFL games
and not think that they are rigged and former fashion.
The officials are not the reason why the Texans lost,
but they didn't help. But they did not help, And
those calls were absolutely egregious. When you got Troy Aikman
and Joe Buck and the rules analysts all saying on
the national broadcast that these rules, that those calls were atrocious,
(22:21):
then you know that they're because.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Because it's not real football, we don't.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
See we don't see broadcasters do what Joe. Troy Aikman
and Joe Buck did a fantastic job of criticizing officials.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Without being worried about it. You damn right, they did
and it was necessary and needed. It's not a personal
foul when two guys on the same team hit each
other's helmet.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Yeah, did you see the hit that Jared Goff? Could
you imagine if that would have been Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Well, they do. They would have crucified the dude on
the field.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
No, they would have stopped the game and just awarded
a forfeit to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
And he would have been kicked out of the league forever.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
And listen, when you say that, people automatically think that
the only reason that When when you say that, people think, well,
the only reason that, then you're saying the only reason
the Chiefs win is because the rest protected not at all,
not at all. But I can tell you this. He
knows that he's got that they're going to overprotect you,
and he ses Kansas City and he exploits it. You should, Yeah,
(23:17):
rule they're going to let him do it. And I
here's another thing that bothers me and we all say it.
It's a fact that stars get calls in all sports.
A good hitter, good pitcher, been around the league. But
I don't care if you've been around the league fifteen
years or a rookie in any sport, the rule is
a rule, right. I mean, I understand you lean towards well,
you know what, that guy through a fat that's close.
(23:38):
I'm gonna call strike because it's a he's a Hall
of Fame pitcher. But in this, in this case, while
superstars get it's like, well you got it. Superstars get called.
That doesn't make it right. If it's a personal foul,
call it personal foul. If it's not, don't call it.
It's like what we discussed before.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
So the foul in the first half, in the in
the first minute of the game is the same call
at the last.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
Minute, the right, right, I hear the same thing real quick?
Is it? You know he deserves protection by more protection
abody else because because he wins, you get the hell
out of here. He didn't deserve any more protection no
matter how successfully he is. He deserves to win if
he if he does. And then I hear that I've
heard this forever, but that guy deserved the championship. You
deserve a championship when you actually win, when your ass
(24:20):
I mean you're here with Karl Malone and Stockton and
and spend sports all. Yeah, Well he deserves a champion,
Dan Marino, and I love Dan Well. I deserve one too, Okay,
Jim Kelly deserves the championship to Frank w Reich deserves
the championship. Two is a backup buffalo. No, you deserve
(24:41):
it when you win it. It's the same thing here. No,
you don't deserve the calls because you're a star in
the league. You if, but they're deciding you're a star
and they're gonna give a call. And I know it exists,
and they do give stars a call, but that's he
doesn't deserve to get a free play. That's my point.
So it had something to do with it. But the
(25:02):
Texans allowed situational football, and certain said the three things
they couldn't do, they did, they did not take care of.
And now they're watching and it's going to be a
long off season.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Seven one, three, two, two, five, seven ninety. We'll open
up the phone lines and get out to your calls
talking about the Texans losing to the Chiefs. Who also
got some audio of Demiko Ryans, Will Anderson Junior. But
let's talk about the special team's blunders by the Texans.
Speaker 5 (25:22):
That's next, Doctor Jeff Witz it at Witsitt Vision dot Com.
Wh I T S E T T the very best

Lasik procedure like me, or that get eyecare from doctor whitst.

(25:45):

on the table ten minutes and seeing better than I
had since the prime of my vision. So for me,
there's nobody better. It's doctor Jeff witzet At. It's it

are precious, you want an expert, right. You don't want
(26:07):
to leave anything to chance, and you won't chance anything
but success with doctor Jeff Witson. It's Witsitvision dot Com.
Witsit Vision dot Com. That's wits It Vision dot Com.
The Shawn Salisbury show continued.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
Seven seven. It's number to join. It's open up the
phone lines. Talk to John.
Speaker 7 (26:29):
John.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
We appreciate you all and good morning. All right, trip
lecky bunch of U for me. Please Hello John, you
got it, We got you, buddy.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Sorry about that, Okay, sorry about that. Okay, that's on
our end. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Hey, I agree with you guys everything you said this morning.
You know the problem is that Texans are not a
disciplined team just yet. And and uh, you know, those
refs do have a tremendous impact and you and you're right.
I mean, I was so frustrated over some of those
calls and we all know which calls theyre and it's
just really getting tiresome to see how mahomes is benefiting
(27:04):
from these calls. And you know, the internet is just
rife with this stuff. I sent you a couple of
links on YouTube where they show all these all these
instances of this happening.
Speaker 9 (27:14):
And you know, the NFL is uh.
Speaker 10 (27:16):
I mean, I've been I've been.
Speaker 9 (27:17):
Tweeting this for like the last few months.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
You know, the fix is in.
Speaker 9 (27:20):
It just seems like the fix is in.
Speaker 8 (27:21):
And I'm calling the NFL the National Fix League because
it's kind it's really getting ridiculous on these calls. I mean,
and and you're right, I was I was going to
say too. I mean when you have Aikman and Buck saying, hey,
I don't see where there's a penalty here, you know,
I mean, you know something's wrong and and I don't know,
it's just very very questionable. What's going on regarding the
(27:44):
officiating and uh, getting back to special teams. What has
happened to Fairbaron. I mean, he used to be like automatic,
and you know he had trouble. I mean, I mean
that was uh, you know that was a factor in
that game as well. And and you know the last
couple of games, all of a sudden, he's uh not
not what he usually is. And I don't know what's
going on with him there. I mean, you know miss
(28:06):
is an extra point or I mean that that's just crazy.
So I don't know, it's it was a weird game.
It's a shame because when when the mixing was uh
pounding some carries on the ground and getting yardage, I thought, man,
we got the formula, we're going to beat him, and
they just let us slip away. And you know, Sean
is right too, and that you know, when you see
(28:26):
a defensive alignment, just go right up the middle on
challenged and sacking uh C J.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Stroud.
Speaker 10 (28:33):
I mean that that was really hard.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
To take as well.
Speaker 8 (28:35):
But I mean it was a very frustrating day and
I'm I'm I'm just really getting fed up with the
NFL though with uh.
Speaker 9 (28:41):
I mean, it's getting like it's getting like the.
Speaker 8 (28:44):
NBA almost and uh, I think they got to be
careful because you know, the end, the NBA is wondering
what's happened to their fan base.
Speaker 9 (28:50):
The NFL is going to start wondering that too, because.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
People are I mean there, it's just all over the internet.
It's just all over the internet. Helped people are noticing
this and it's just it's it's the NFL's got to
get their act together on this. I mean, it's becoming
way too obvious on these referees.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Appreciate the college.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
It's just that added to it that they just didn't
do the little things. Listen, the Texans are a cut
below the big boys right now. They just are that
I didn't say talent.
Speaker 10 (29:19):
Now.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Defensively, I don't have them below anybody, but I still
don't understand their approach to Kelsey. I don't understand going
in where you say, listen, do whatever you gotta do.
But that guy ain't getting off the line of scrimmage.
Make him more, you gotta he needed to work harder
for the behind the quarterback camera shot of the big
play where he caught it and ran for forty more
his biggest play of the year. That's his biggest pass
(29:40):
catch and run of the year. On the middle of
the field. When it was when they ran right by,
I think they blew the coverage and al Share I
think ran towards the flat and he just came in
behind him. You look at the end zone shot behind
the quarterback. There's nobody in the picture. There's not a
defensive guy in the wide screen shot. And this is
this is this is a receip You just can't And
(30:01):
when you give him free run off the line of
scrimmage and you don't take him off his mark, it
doesn't matter. You can't get to my home. Some time
the ball will come out. It was. It was, and
you saw how they used the screen game as part
of the run game. And they weren't overly impressive offensively.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
You know what for the most part. The screen games
the question, they were non existent. They didn't they didn't
gain yardage.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Agreed that the defense for the most part dominated the game. Yeah,
except in a couple of situations when Kelsey can't get
He can't get one hundred yards receiven You just can't
do it in a couple of touches.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Can't do it.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
If you look at there was a play the football
went to Travis Kelsey was wide open in the middle
of the field. They respect They respected Lasseter instingly so much.
They didn't target the outside. They targeted the middle in
the linebackers all second half long.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
I just don't know why you gave him such free run.
I don't either to the to his spot. I like
there was and I think is a hell of a player.
I think he's a big part of this defense. He
looked terrible. There were so many plays where Travis Kelce
just goes.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Right by him. I'm like, dude, hit him. Do something.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
Well, that's obvious that he's ship.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Him something, get him off his route.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
He thought, it's obvious that he's not great in past
coverage in space. And I thought I said it on
Friday and coming down hill to go get a runner.
On Friday, I said that him and Tootoa would do
a good job of guarding Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Good God, was I wrong?
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Well, nobody's gonna do a goo job when you let
him off. The line of scream is that easy play
to your strengths And that's in a phone booth with Kelsey.
You don't play in space with Kelsey. You're playing a
phone booth so you can get your hands on him
all the time.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
M m mmmm.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
It's just it was It's a bit. Uh, it was maddening.
Like I said, there's part of me wants to go off,
but then the offensive line.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
That's gonna sound harsh. Let a rip dog.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
When you see games like that, it makes you say,
do you really deserve an end of the season gift
from me?
Speaker 10 (32:04):
No?
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Yeah, no, I know that. Listen. It's the body of
work and you take care of the big fellows. Don't
misunderstand me at all. Yeah, but don't you gotta have
some pride in game like this. And the gift may
not be a car, it may be a pair of
boots now, but you get my point? Yeah, is the
point is and that's a little hyperbolic, now, I know
they have not. They did, they did not. It's not
(32:25):
a hot take, No, it's not. And I and I
don't do hot takes. Yeah, I know it's not. You
know what, you know what they need?
Speaker 4 (32:30):
Get them, get them a sea destrout should give them
thirty pack and natty lights.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
We need beer drinkers on the office blots.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
They need a little more. And there's no doubt, great
point by you. They need nasty. I felt like I
was watching white wine spritsure drinkers. Yeah, that's what I
felt like, man. And it's and they get mad and
all that. The bottom line is the the attention to
detail was up front and it's been like this at
times in spurts all year long.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Can offensive coordinators and head coaches make adjustments to the
offensive line in the game if an offensive lineman is
not playing well.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Well, is that like you do that you should be
adjusting every series.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Shaq Mason should have been pulled after the second quarter,
adjusting every series minute mark the second quarters.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Terrible mauled them, and it was it's you just can't.
You can't win games. And you give up eight sacks,
you lose the special teams battle and the top top
tight end in football, catches over one hundred yards receiving,
gets in the end zone. And Mahomes made a phenomenal
play when he was falling down to get that one.
I mean, he makes but he's situational football, Wasn't it
(33:32):
just okay? Situation football there as good as we have
in football. And he's the best winner in sports right now.
And he gets he gets some help from referees, make
no mistake about it. And he got help again. But
the fact of the matter is they didn't do enough
on special teams and on the offensive line and against
Kelsey for them to win. Yeah, but I love their defense.
I love what mix and brings to the table. There's
a lot to fear. Nico Collins does not. He's a
(33:54):
friggin beast. He is an outside linebacker that's got wide
receiver skill set. He will man handle yours. But the
Kansasity Chiefs do not beat themselves. And once again they
put you in a bind. And you couldn't handle simple
a gap mug guy. You gave the freest run to
the quarterback to that guy as opposed to making the
(34:16):
guy go the long way. The next guy close guy
to quarterback gets blocked first. Yeah, it's the little things
like that. And the team that was supposed to move
on did Why because they played better in situational football.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
They just did and they don't beat themselves.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
Yes, ever, continue to break down the Texans and Chiefs
loss next right here on Sportsblock seven.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
Hey guys, let's play that blitz scratch tickets from the
Texas Lottery. Right Who doesn't love the Texas Lottery for
a shot at the blitz of cash prizes And there's
a big blitz of them going on. Top prizes from
five thousand dollars up to one dollars. It's Texas Lottery
dot com. Right, you better get yours. Why you can
plus enter to win exciting vip iHeartRadio concert experiences at

which is huge and we know how important that is.
And when Texans play, Texans win, So play today. It
could be your lucky day. Remember, the blitz is on
Texaslottery dot Com.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, and now you know.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
So many different ways this loss to the Chiefs. I
just want to kind of go through a couple things
here in regards to the officiating, and every time we
talk about how bad the officials were, I'm going to
continue to reiterate that that's not why the Texans lost
the football game. It played a factor, There is no doubt. Well,
let me just sean. Social media blew up with how
(35:51):
bad the officiating was. I saved some tweets from like
big time, big time people, Lil Wayne, our guy, Lol Wayne.
You know we're big little guys, right, He said, I
hate the cheat nass chiefs, And then he went on
a rant about the officials. Mark Schlaith, former player broadcaster.
(36:11):
I mean he went on rants about it.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I obliterated it too. Yeah yeah, saw your Adam she Shine.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
He said, this is embarrassing, clown car, pathetic, flat out,
season altering garbage officiating.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Don Van Natta Junior, I don't know who that is.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
He's a senior writer for ESPN, been writing about the
NFL for like thirty five years. He said, the lopsiding
officiating threatens the integrity of the game and the quality
of the products.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Something must be done.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
Threatened, it's been threatening it for a long time. We've
lost the integrity of the game for years now. Because
of these rules in this over protection of quarterbacks, and
in particular that guy.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Nick Costos, He's on Odyssey, not Odyssey, excuse me serious
XM NBC Sports w f A N six sixty. He said,
I am invested in the Chiefs in many different ways,
both today and over the rest of the season. But
I can also admit that this has been the most
one sided officiating games in recent memory. This is a
(37:11):
total embarrassment. There's no doubt, good guy Schminzada, I mean,
every like so many current players were tweeting. Everybody was
just blatant.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
They all saw it. Protection of Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Man, Listen, even if you love the Chiefs, and I
have nothing but respect for Andy Reid the kan City Chiefs,
and if you're Patrick Mahomes and they're going to give
it to you, milk it eyed, milk every ounce. I
don't blame them either. But it's it's it's borderline. It's
not it's not borderline integrity problems. We've we were past that. Yeah,
it's taken away the actually the integrity of football because
(37:45):
we don't play tackle football right way anymore. And it's
just I mean, the players want to go hard but
I mean, if you're a player, what do you do.
I mean, if you're a defensive player, especially playing against him,
and which now you get to point, say a fifteen
yard penalty, another first down, and or in trouble. I mean,
so you'll back off him and then he gets an
extra split second to do his thing back. It's only
human nature to say I'm not getting fined or I mean,
(38:08):
and I'm test telling you, and eventually somebody's gonna say,
I'm gonna get my money's worth it. You'll get that guy,
and I know I'm gonna get penalized anyway, that's what
you're you're gonna get. That was old school philosophy. Oh,
if I'm gonna get penalized, which he didn't very often
by hitting a guy a little late, they're they're gonna
make sure they take their You're gonna they're gonna get
their shots in right, but not to hurt him, but
to play physical. It's just different. The players are phenomenal.
(38:30):
The rules have have muddied what's a really good game yea,
and a really good and a really good product. Yeah,
and if you want to turn it into at times trash.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
On one of the plays, that the Texans got flagged
for hitting Patrick Mahomes when he slid. When you watch
him run, he runs to the left, scrambles around, starts
doing his little pump fake and then he like literally
stops and he's like waiting for defenders to get to him.
He's manipulating the hell out of it. And then he
drops and slides and then the the two Texans collide
(39:03):
with each other barely hit my Homes. Boom flag, No doubt. Well,
Fee's like he's messing with his prey almost like oh,
you know, like he tried it on the sidelines too
and then flopped. Yeah, and they then you could see
the hit was cleanly inbounds. Ah, but he milks it
in you know what, dude, like like at worse than it,
like a like a European Soccer League flop.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
Yeah, you can't blame him because I mean for that,
because I would too. I mean, who wouldn't, right, Yeah,
were not not a flopper. But I'm talking about you're
gonna if they're gonna give you the fifteen yards, you
ain't give it back. But it's just that's that was
part of the reason why this football team didn't win.
I can sure, as he'll tell you. There's a lot
of other reasons where they watch the tape, it's gonna
they're gonna be sick to their stomach. Defense phenomenal performance
(39:47):
except on Kelsey, which I don't understand why that isn't
a top priority. And secondly, I thought they I thought
they had game plans going in and were ready to
do it. But special teams was atrocious, offensive line was
an embarrassment, and refereeing was an embarrassment. And when all
those things happen and you can't cover Kelsey, that's four
things that are gonna and you're on the road against
number one team fifteen wins. Nah, hard to win that way.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
And then also on something that needs to be addressed
going into the offseason. As playmakers for this team, you
can't just rely just on Nico Collins and Joe Mixon.
You've got to have another wide receiver. And again again
Stefon Diggs towards ACL earlier in the season, Tank Dell,
same thing. Guys Dalton Schultz was a little bit more
active in the past game, but when it comes to blocking,
(40:31):
he was atrocious. There's gotta be something done this offseason
to either bring back Steph Diggs. I don't know what
they're gonna do to improve the team. It's a very
interesting offseason because you got really, really really good pieces.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
You better go get some dogs on the offensive line.
They don't have enough of them. They just don't. No,
they don't, they don't, and they get they were punked
in the second half by the Chiefs offense the defense.
Speaker 4 (40:56):
Carloftis has got to be laughing today. We've said this
all season long. You need beer Driggers on the offensive line. Man,
you don't need handbag model hand handbag models.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
Okay, did did a did an overly? Finesse too? Who
won these games? Was it finesse came? I mean Washington
got after Detroit?
Speaker 7 (41:13):
Right?
Speaker 5 (41:13):
Yeah, once again, physical always if you protect the ball,
physical always beats finesse. Yeah, in big games and playoff
FOOTBA it just does. And look around. You got a
rookie who's special. You see some of the throws that
cat made. You see the drop shot he throwed right
by the end. He threw right by the end zone,
dropped it in there. Jane daniels Is Jane daniels Is
to Washington. The way we felt about Stroud as a
(41:34):
rookie as well. Here it's it's it's incredible even if
you're you're the top seed, or you're a Baltimore the
best playing better than anybody, or if you're a top
seed like Detroit and I know with all their injuries,
but you turn it over and you don't get to
their quarterback, you get beat. And that happened to the
(41:54):
Texans as well as as bad as special team's performance
as you'll see for.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
A for a special teams that's been pretty damn good
all season long.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Really good. You can't tell me choke factory and kicking
dead man.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (42:08):
Seven one, three, five, seven ninety is the number, too joinable.
Continue to take your calls on this. Texans and Chiefs
games get into the seven o'clock hour. It's here's some
audio from Demiico Ryans after they lost.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
That's next.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
Kd E Houston, k t V E HD two Houston,
an iHeart radio station.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Yes as a Rocket.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety your home for your
home team.
Speaker 5 (42:37):
Salisbury, Oldbury, Salisbury, Houston. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Sewan Salisbury to usc truth, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury, Ryan Lima,
Go Lobos this is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (42:57):
We got two blue blood programs planned and you know,
Notre Dame's the national following, Ohio State national following following.
It's the biggest game of Ryan Day's lifetime. Yep, all
the stuff, these kids. I mean, it's the national Championship
of college and we all love it. I think some
probably woke up this morning forget there's a game tonight.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
There's no buzz.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
It's the weirdest thing.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
There's no buzz about this game.
Speaker 5 (43:18):
I honestly, the playoff's good, but don't you feel like
college football and the semi game, the semi final, the
Final four ended like a month ago. Yeah, I know
it's recent, but it's just, Yeah, I think there's too
much time in between.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Yeah, one thing I think the committee's gonna look at.
Obviously they got to fix the seeding process, but also
the scheduling. Man, you can't run this national title game
this long and run it into the NFL playoffs.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
It's just it's, dude.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
The games yesterday between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, obviously
the Eagles and the Rams, the whole weekend of NFL
football that dominated. Now, I'm not even to be honest
with you, I've been following this college football playoff immensely.
I don't even give a damn about the game tonight.
There's no buzz and right, and there should be all
kinds of buzz. But are the two teams that are playing? Yeah,
and all the side stories that go with it, And
(44:07):
it's incredible. Notre Dame Marcus Freeman, Ryan Day at the
beginning of the year, after the lost of Michigan, or
at the end of the year. But when they've lost twice,
people hadn't fired. Yeah, And now the guy's playing for
a national title. Probably gonna get a contract, right, a
new contract and a raise, Oh real quick? On college football?
You said it last week, Steve Sarkegan got himself a
raise and an extension.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Say it louder. He got himself a raising extension by
the University of Texas.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
And why do you think he was? He was he
was offered. I forgot who it was. I think it
was two NFL interviews and he declined both of them. Boom,
get himself an extension and more money. Happened all the time.
He's a guy in high demand. People want him, I mean,
And what that does is okay? And that contract extension,
I assure he wasn't five dollars yeah, the extra money, yeah,
a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:52):
So just it's player cards right now. The next thing
is to get a national title. For that, there's just
no buzz. But there should be more buzz, but unfortunately
it in with the inauguration and all this stuff, and
you know it's going it's it's crazy. Yeah, this is
this is absolutely crazy. Yeah, and good luck to those teams,
but the buzz is worn off. And I'm sure here
in this area a lot of people then why I
(45:14):
love college football, so watch it. But they don't care
about Ohio State. No, they don't know to Dame. I
mean some do, but you get my point. It's not
it's it's this is a but it is blue bloods
and yeah, buzzes minimal. Maybe it'll kick back in today.
Doubt later on we'll see. I doubt, to be honest
with you, I really don't. I think the Raiders are
gonna be terrible. Seven seven Yes and number to join Joe.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Good morning, Hey, how y'all doing?
Speaker 11 (45:37):
Uh? I was just calling to say, man, I think
the fix was in on that game. And I mean
basketball proves it because there was a referee. I watched
the documentary.
Speaker 12 (45:48):
I forget the guy's.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Name, but Tim Donaghan.
Speaker 13 (45:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (45:52):
And before this game started, they said that the Texans
were gonna lose because there was a certain officiating crew
that was put in and the Chiefs have never lost
when this fishing crew is put in. And after the
first quarter, I left my friend's house where they had barbecue, beer,
(46:14):
smokes and other things to hang out and untill I
was just like, nope, not doing it. They're like, are
you seriously going to leave? I was like, yep, I'm
out of here, man, I can't watch this. After that
first Patrick Mahomes they hit him and they said it
was pass interference or rough in the passer. Clearly he
didn't even hit him.
Speaker 7 (46:34):
Help me.
Speaker 11 (46:36):
I'm like, I'm done, man, I'm over and I'll hang
up and listen. I just I couldn't deal with it,
and come to find out afterwards, I'm a big conspiracy
theory guy. The Texans were up nine points and they
ran the ball back to get the two points to
make it nine points, and the Texans were favored to
(46:57):
win or the Chiefs' favorite to win by nine and
a half and I'm like, why would they do that?
So anyhow, conspiracy theory out there and I'll hang up
and listen. Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 5 (47:07):
Yeah, they were down eleven right. Well, for guys like
me who got nine and a half points on the bet,
to take a safety thing was just beautiful. Yeah, it was.
It was just I mean, if your team's gonna lose
the game, the team that you're rooting for, I might
as well win the bet. Because I did take the Texans.
(47:29):
I told you I took Washington. These are all with
the points, right, Yeah, and they went out right took
the U, took the Rams in their game, won that,
and I probably picked Baltimore to win, although I'm glad
Buffalo won. It's just it man, after at the beginning
(47:50):
of the year, after what they went through, and I
would have taken either one of those two teams because
both of them are capable of beating Kansas City. But yeah,
that was take a safety. And did you hear Joe
buck Well, this is this play has a lot that
says a lot and there's a lot of people still
paying attention. When he ran out, he goes all over
the place. Yeah, to get it to nine.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
Patrick Mahomes is now seven to zero games officiated by
Clay Martin.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
That's where the conspiracy.
Speaker 5 (48:16):
Patrick Mahomes is going to be a winning record against
with most officiating crews. That was part and parcel part
of the reason that was if it goes in, there's
four or five reasons they lost. Officiating is one of them.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
It's part.
Speaker 4 (48:29):
It ain't the main reason. No, it's not the main reason,
but it's a part of it. There is no doubt
and there's going to be fuel to this for a
long long time, especially if they go in and you
get special treatment in this AFC Championship game.
Speaker 5 (48:40):
Come on, man, well I would bet your buffalo's expecting it. Yeah,
the Kansas City's gonna get a little love's Unfortunately, you
gotta beat twelve people sometimes, Yeah, and that's the way
it is' And then you had to do that this
week in a handful of plays.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
As wells Doctor Jason, Jason, appreciate you holding Good.
Speaker 14 (48:57):
Morning bding guys, was up. Appreciate everything.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Tripley.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Will you let him know that his connection is very poor.
I'm gonna go to Reggie, Reggie, what's happening?
Speaker 12 (49:12):
Hey, good morning guys, how you doing this morning, Hey, Sean,
I told you and Brian last week man that the
Texan would be better off with Christian Harrison that covered
linebacker positions because he was the better covering linebacker for
the Texans. And I knew once he did not play,
they never told us he was all I knew it
was gonna be a Kelsey field game for them. And
(49:34):
now in addition to that, you could also add Skip
Baylests to that list of people who were screaming foul play.
One thing I thought, Sean in that game is that
there was a lot of plays that wasn't called. That
flop by Mahons. You look at a lot of illegal picks.
De Andre Hopkins was picking players left and right. None
of those illegal picks was called. When Kelsey was opened
(49:57):
wide in the field, that was a legal pick by
the buy DeAndre Hopkins on that play and it should
have been called. And here we go we're talking about playmakers.
You mentioned, Brian, where's that number fourteen? Then all year
that Wayne Kidd, this kid, if he had had any
playing time, he would have pulled in both of those balls.
And he almost had a remarkable catch on that ball.
(50:19):
That grazed off his hand had not been so cold,
And then for the people to be screaming at Chris
Boyd for being excited, thinking that he's one of those
quality players that just jumping on the coach for no reason.
The man thought he caused the phone when he thought
the Texan picked it up again. But Sean, here's the thing.
I would like to see these games like college you
(50:41):
guys are talking about. I would love to see this
on Saturday night and stop being on Monday night when
sometimes if it wasn't for the weather you have to
go to work, or the Super Bowl on a Sunday
when you have to go to work and can't enjoy yourself.
I'd love to see these games held actually on the weekend.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
Man.
Speaker 12 (50:58):
And for the Texans say this again, Man, the Dixons
were outnumber but they gave it all they could get.
And man, next year, I think, like you said, Brian,
they do need another playmaker receiver. And uh, that's all
I am.
Speaker 14 (51:14):
Man.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
Thank you, thank you, Regie.
Speaker 5 (51:15):
Good stuff, Reggie, and we'll get the rest of the cars.
He makes the point. Listen, and Boyd, while I'm watching,
made a great play and effort to force the fumble
and then he popped out of it. He I think
he thought maybe that we got it, and he was
doing a celebrating I understand what the optics look like
because he got too big a push and the timing
of it because pulling off. How do you not pulled
off his helmet to get penalized. I'm sure that special
(51:40):
team coaches are really put it this way. You can
tell they're exuberant and excitable. That's just like when a
guy makes the plane, you go, we all do that.
We go up and push a guy like, no, what
a great play. He just leaned into it so much.
It looked like it was a force, like he was mad.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
You can't take your helmet off, right.
Speaker 5 (51:56):
No, No, that's that's the discipline. I keep telling you
about the things the discipline. This is an undisciplined football team.
Pre snap penalties. There's that you make a good play
even though they recover it, and then you compound the
fact that you didn't recover after a sixty five yard
or sixty two yard whatever return. Sixty five yard return,
they're pushing down to the red zone on the opening
kickoff and you spread over there. It was an I
(52:17):
I me me thing because you might cause a fumble,
but you got to start to think about the bigger picture.
Take your helmet off, which you know you can't, so
now you're penalized. And then you go over there with
the optics and it looks like you want to fist
fight your special Teams coach when we know it's just
Special Teams. Guys got this energy and rolling, but the
optics were bad because we're all thinking, dude, you just
got penalized. What are you doing? Yeah, but it wasn't
(52:38):
because he and the best team coach are going to
be in a fight. And then all of a sudden,
spish Teams coach and they had to say, dude, took
your hemet off, ill got penalized. You better get this
out of control. And I'm sure he felt like a
clown after that. But I love the energy, but it's misdirected.
That's the problem. It's little things that you know what
you can't build. You can't build a game on sand,
(53:00):
to build it on some kind of on a little
more firmer structure. And while they looked good in certain areas,
the areas you needed more more body. Putting a body
on Kelsey protecting the quarterback and special teams.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
They failed on Saturday. They did failed miserably. Not good Man.
Speaker 4 (53:21):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety is
the number to join. We will continue to take your calls.
Let's get to the steakout next right here on seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
Back to it, h town.
Speaker 5 (53:32):
Are you on juice?
Speaker 10 (53:33):
Bring the juice?
Speaker 1 (53:34):
Let's go. The Sean Salisbury Show continues most definitely.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 15 (53:49):
The Salisbury stakeout, Salisbury's takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (54:19):
Let's get to the steak out here on the Shawan
Salisbury Show seven five, seven nineties.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
Number to join.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
Let's get out to the phone lines talking Texans losing
to the Chiefs. We'll start with Adrian, then we'll get
to Andy. Adrian, welcome in.
Speaker 7 (54:36):
Morning. Morning.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
I'm with everybody else.
Speaker 16 (54:40):
The officiating sucked as we knew, and I called Friday
and all three things I said I was worried about
all came to light.
Speaker 1 (54:49):
But it's over.
Speaker 16 (54:50):
I'm with Sean. I took my money and I shut
up about it, and I blew up. Y'all's a Twitter
I'm sorry. I apologize, but Uhana McNair called, I mean,
Hannel called the flagship station and she said everything will be.
Speaker 10 (55:07):
Looked at this offseason.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
I got two questions.
Speaker 16 (55:11):
One, why do you change the offensive line and put
Shack Mason back in there?
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Two?
Speaker 16 (55:21):
We have a quarterback that we all know is the
super Bowl caliber quarterback? What are we gonna do about
that offensive line this offseason? Since she said everything will
be looked at, fellas, it's gonna be a good offseason
either way it goes. Come on baseball and Roger Goodell,
(55:41):
I'm not watching no more of your NFL.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
You just told me who's winning the super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (55:47):
Thank you, Adrian, he said, he blew Upart to is
he dream Team Apple? Is that is that his Twitter?
Speaker 1 (55:55):
Adrian? Has he a dream Team Apple? That might be him?
Speaker 4 (55:59):
Adrian, give us a shout back and uh tell Triple
Lee on hold on on the line, what your your
Twitter handle is? Are you dream Team Apple? Gotta be him?
I think seven seven? Lets get to Andy?
Speaker 1 (56:13):
Andy?
Speaker 7 (56:14):
Was that?
Speaker 13 (56:15):
Uh yeah, just to what he said about the Elephants
a line. Bad news is none of them are creations,
So uh yeah, you're kind of stuck. Well, Bye. Can
you look. You said stat earlier about how many pressure
the process pressure percentage against?
Speaker 4 (56:36):
Uh, yeah, I got it right here for you. You're
talking about the U. Let me let me find them.
I got a bunch of notes from this both teams,
so I've just got Yeah.
Speaker 9 (56:46):
So C. J.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
Stroud was pressured on excuse me, a career high twenty
three dropbacks. His pressure rate of fifty six percent is
the second highest in an NFL playoff game since ESPN
began tracking the pressure in two thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
And uh the only.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
Quarterback in front of him Tim Tebow at sixty eleven.
Speaker 13 (57:06):
Okay, do you know what the pressure rate was?
Speaker 4 (57:08):
Alow Mahomes h No, but I can. I can get
that for you. It would just take me a minute.
Speaker 13 (57:13):
Yeah, yeah, I'm just curious. Hey, Sean, remember earlier to
here when I said that sacks are so much more
important than pressure rates. Well, let me tell you something.
Mahomes is a wizard, and you are correct. That guy
under it doesn't matter if it's under pressure. I think
maybe he might be better under pressure.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
Oh he is when it when the game's on the line,
he's far better than he I almost feel like he's
bored in the middle of a game at times, I
do you know, I.
Speaker 17 (57:41):
Think you're right.
Speaker 13 (57:42):
And let me tell you something. Kelsey had more yards,
had had fifty yards of the whole team it if
it doesn't work early on and you don't make change this, hell,
(58:02):
I would have put Stingley on him man command because
did the wide receivers even do anything. Nope, they let
him get off the line of scrimmage and all this
zone coverage. Kelsey eats up zone coverage because he doesn't
really have to have any kind of route. It's just
(58:25):
run to open space and Mahomes is gonna find him,
big target, open space, He'll find it. And they they
they just put a red carpet out for the best
catching football player in the NFL in playoff history. They
put a red carpet for him and said.
Speaker 6 (58:46):
Do what you want to do.
Speaker 13 (58:48):
And the offensive line, what to me is, we've been
grapping about this all year. It's been an issue all
year and it hasn't been fixed. So whoever the offensive
line coach is, he's got to go bye bye. I'm sorry.
It's just that's the way that works. And what gets
me about what gets me about the Texans is on
(59:09):
the defense. Their linebackers are always off the ball on
passing downs. You never see him doing doing anything, putting
them into gaps like you were talking about earlier and
taking it or coming or not coming and dropping. So
the offensive line on the other side, they've got to
deal with just basically four guys and maybe a blitzer
(59:30):
every once in a while. There's no there's no difference
in when they're setting up. It's always the same same
set up, five six yards off the ball. I don't
know why they don't mix some of that in. But
that offensive line, they ain't got a clue. You're exactly right.
They ain't had a clue all year. And I think
(59:50):
I think he was hit fourteen times, my goodness.
Speaker 18 (59:56):
And and here when when I.
Speaker 13 (59:58):
Well, I was in the hours up to my little
sports bar, and when they put Chris Jones out there
on Port fisher, I was yelling and mix and mixing
was on the right of CZ and I said, well,
mixing and mixing they've got to have. They've got to
have that dialed in. If you're a running back and
you see Chris Jones across from Blake Fishery, no matter
(01:00:20):
what to play is if it's a pass play, you
have to block him.
Speaker 12 (01:00:24):
Sure enough.
Speaker 13 (01:00:24):
Nope, he ran right by him right out to the flat,
and I thought, well, that's that's a sack is sure
enough he went right around him like it was a ghost.
And I don't blame Fisher. Hell, he's only played what
six or seven games. He's a rookie against one of
the best defensive tackles in the game.
Speaker 5 (01:00:42):
I'm spac Nola did the right move by knowing that
you put him out in space as opposed to keep
him in there where you could double him inside. He
moved him around, which is a brilliant move. And they
just get you get your ass kicked in special teams,
you get your ass kicked on the offensive line and
you and you let Kelsey run free. And they played
a hell of a game otherwise. But those things otherwise
(01:01:04):
doesn't matter. There's no moral victories. They got beat because
of those reasons, and not to get away from the
ref didn't help. And then Mahomes is just great in
situational football. Always, always, It's really fun to watch him
do that.
Speaker 13 (01:01:20):
I mean, how the hell's he fall down and find
Kelsey wide open in the end zone?
Speaker 12 (01:01:26):
Well, not even wide open.
Speaker 13 (01:01:27):
He had two or three guys around him, but nobody
wants to cover him.
Speaker 12 (01:01:31):
The guys in the end zone and.
Speaker 13 (01:01:34):
You're four, five, three or four yards away from him,
they're just all standing around watching mahomes. Yeah, you're right,
seven or eight plays, it's a different game. Yep, We're
we're playing the Bills next week.
Speaker 5 (01:01:48):
Fact. Fact, take care guys, you too, buddy. It's frustrating
because you go through it and it really is said
at the beginning, eight to ten plays in this game,
and the things you couldn't let happen, Like I said,
it's almost as if we had the script when you
asked last week, I said special teams would be your
number one party. And they got dominated in special teams.
(01:02:09):
And I'm going to tell you what in postseason, special
teams will find you, buddy.
Speaker 7 (01:02:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:02:16):
And it was an upfront offensive line and special teams
was a choke job. The Kelsey thing was just for
whatever reason, I still don't understand why you did. It's
like when you're playing a team that has like twelve foules,
twelve foules to give with your backup centers like the
Bulls used to like with Will Purdue and Luke Longley
just a bang right, Yeah, a good bank.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:02:38):
I just don't understand why the line scrimmage, you're not
mugging him and grabbing him and forcing Kelsey to be
physical as opposed to allow him to finesse you to death.
I mean, the average receiver, you let him off the
ball like that, he's going to kill you. And then
you play in space. Now you're playing into his manipulation
of routes, and he's better than anybody in the league
at it. I just don't know why you wouldn't make
(01:02:58):
him go the hard way and make the whole to
hold the ball alonger, especially with the way you pass
rush and the way they're putting pressure on they. Kansas
City did not look smooth anywhere until second half defense,
and then in situational football they just don't miss. It's
a bummer because eight plays send you home. Eight ten plays,
man and they're home. Ye editor, can't coomb base out yep.
(01:03:20):
I had to play some golf.
Speaker 7 (01:03:21):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:03:21):
That's gut wrenching.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
It really is.
Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Because of the way it happened, and like you said,
the officials that's part of it, but that's not the
only reason they got beat. No, that's not because even
with officials, if the other quarterback was average, yeah, you
still would have won. The other quarterback just makes plays
in dynamic situations.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Yeah, yep, there's no doubt.
Speaker 13 (01:03:37):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):

We're fat, But the Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
It's here from Demico Ryans. He was very frustrated after
the game. This is what he had to say for me.
Speaker 19 (01:05:35):
It's a frustration from all three phases. A right, it's
special teams, defense, and offense. So we didn't get it
done again. Congratt to Andy and the chiefs man. They
deserve it, right. They've done a great job over the
past few years of being consistent and that's why they've
been champions, right because they consistently get the job done
no matter how the game goes, they find a way
(01:05:55):
to close games out. So congratt of those guys and
wish them the best move before.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
That's Demiko Ryans.
Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Pretty simple.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
There were things they didn't do well enough, and every
single phase had something you didn't like. Offensive line, the
protection was embarrassment. Defense, great game, great performance. The problem
is you got to do it all. You can't just
do some of it. It was too easy on Kelsey
and then special teams was brutal.
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
Yeah, they just the the utter frustration of watching Travis
Kelcey every single time run free is maddening, just absolutely maddening.
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
That is that is.
Speaker 5 (01:06:40):
I beg I begged for it last week, not to
let it happen, and they would lay line up off
the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:06:44):
When I look at the game, that is the most
frustrating part for me watching him get open every single time.
Sean he had eight targets, he caught seven balls. Seven
out of the eight were completed, a lot of.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
Run after the catch. Here's the thing you know going
in that plans in the past when you watch tape
have not worked on him playing off the ball for anybody.
It just doesn't meaning you're not mauling him at the
line of scrimmage. So wouldn't you think that if their
success happens when you're give him free run, that you
(01:07:17):
try to change something up a little bit. That's the
only adjustment defensively that bothered me because their wide receivers
had no impact in any none.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
They didn't have a catch.
Speaker 4 (01:07:26):
I mean they'd have a catch on Kamara Lassiter or
Derek Stingley Junior.
Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
I mean the impact. And they didn't exactly dominate running
the football.
Speaker 17 (01:07:34):
No.
Speaker 5 (01:07:35):
So you know Mahomes has great feet, but his decisions
and Andy Reid's consistent, just stay in the course. Like
I said, they'll just kind of grind it out. They
don't look real pretty, but on third and seven they
get eight. On third and four they get five. On
fourth and a half yard they get the first down.
I mean, they just they know exactly the situation of
a game, and situational stud football is far more important
(01:07:58):
than stats, where eighty percent of time you look great,
but the twenty percent of the time, which gets down
to hardcore eight to ten twelve plays a game situational football.
They did not do it. Blocking a guy, not letting
him get into block the kick, all those things that
went on. Attention to detail, discipline, they did not have
it in certain situations a game. But I'm going to
tell you you've got a defense to build off a
(01:08:20):
quarterback who played I thought good football, and the offensive
line didn't even give him much of a fighting chance.
They got to be better. They they just got it.
It's a when this is groundhog Day talking about that.
It's groundhog day, and I am shocked at how poor
the special teams were, and I'm still shocked at the
lack of pressure at the line of scrimmage on kelsey
(01:08:42):
and then obviously you knew going in refs were going
to get two or three calls their favor, and it happened.
All that did was was validate what you thought, but
just makes it worse because you the other three phases.
You still could have won the game and overcome those
penalties had you had done special teams and offensive line correctly.
Even with else run and free, you still could have
(01:09:03):
taken care of your business. If you make a field
goal or two and perform on special teams and keep
your quarterback up right, just a time or two more, Hella,
are you asking much? Just five sacks and put a
hand on somebody, block an a gap blitzer that's the
closest guy to the quarterback, and you let him run
free and step to the left while the center steps
right and give a free run. As if you're saying,
(01:09:25):
I don't like my quarterback, go kill him, and that's
not the case. But you get my point. MDM is
through the acronym you got you gotta always live by
as an offensive lineman, win and doubt block the most dangerous.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
Man Kimi fairbaron two of four field goals missed, one
had one blocked, and also missed an extra point, so there's, uh,
there's seven points right there. If he makes the field
makes both those field goals, there's six points plus the
extra point, there's seven.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
Now twenty three, twenty one. Who knows what happens.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
And a great job after the opening kickoff the defense
to force one, two, three out. Yeah, and the kicking
game to force the field goal. That was a win
by the defense, but a loss by the spect teams
because you didn't even have a chance to blink and
they were inside down near the red zone.
Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
Where was Christian Harris?
Speaker 4 (01:10:13):
I have no idea, Like, he didn't even like when
I look at uh, you know, game notes, he didn't
even record a tackle, did he play?
Speaker 5 (01:10:22):
His name wasn't called. So did anybody get an explanation?
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
No, I haven't seen anything.
Speaker 5 (01:10:29):
Yeah, I have no idea, but I wish I had
an answer for it.
Speaker 17 (01:10:31):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:10:33):
Don't have one.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
Yeah, And you mentioned the Chiefs running the football. They
had twenty two carries fifty yards, but obviously one of
them was the punter running out of the out of bounds,
so that was an eighteen yard loss. So you tack
on eighteen yards, what's it's still only sixty eight yards.
Speaker 5 (01:10:48):
And Mahomes used his feet a few times.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
It was they didn't let Xavier Worthy run wild, put
check go.
Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
They took hunt, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:10:58):
Took care of the screen game. They didn't give up
a whole bunch of home runs, but the home runs
they did give up or run after the catch.
Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
And Kelsey was a big part of it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
The next leading proud of the defense man, the next
leading wide receiver for the Chief, Sean Xavier were outside
of Kelsey Xavier Worthy five catches forty five.
Speaker 5 (01:11:17):
Yards right and none of them the oh my gosh,
eighty yard touchdown pass right. I don't know. It just
to me that you've got it. This the things it
should be routine by now blocking an a gap blitzer,
making sure you understand adjustments. And Spagnolo, who won that
battle the defensive coordinator are our offensive protection. Spagnolo manipulated
(01:11:39):
it and it used it in his favor and it
paid off for him. And you can't get your quarterback
sacked on the road eight times against football's best team.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
No, you can't do it. No, you can't. You're never
gonna win games that way.
Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
Well, unless somehow you manufacture a win like Joe Burrow's
done before in his past.
Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
Yees seven or eight more plays. If they just get
it done, even after that, they still have a chance
to go in there and win, because for the most part,
man handled Kansas City and the way they wanted to.
Other than the few things we've talked about.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Yeah, God dang, it's frustrated.
Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
It's it's it's stickening is what it is, and they're
gonna have to live with it this whole offseason. When
they go watch tape, they will be sick to their stomach.
Speaker 4 (01:12:15):
I have the play by play and breakdown of every
single sack that c J.
Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
Strouds suffer. Let's go through them.
Speaker 5 (01:12:21):
How ma mey sacks they have this year pushing six
and mid sixties, seventy somewhere in that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Range, Texans. Let's let's double check, real gave up?
Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
Come on sixty five sacks counting the playoffs this year.
Speaker 7 (01:12:33):
C J.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
Stroud, he was.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
Who he was sacked fifty two times, fifty two yep,
fifty two and seventeen games.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
And if you count the playoffs, you're in the sixties.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
That's what I said. You add the two playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:12:50):
Sorry, let's you're you're you're somewhere in the in the
mid sixties, low sixties.
Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
He was sacked eleven times in two games. Okay, so
there are sixty three sixty three sacks.
Speaker 5 (01:12:59):
Yeah, too many, Yeah, And eight of them happened when
you're seasons on the line, and a couple of them
were not difficult looks a gap. Just punch Titus Howard right,
tackle Fisher. You mismatch on Jones. When you see that,
you act to some somehow. They got to give a
quarterback competity to take the back and stick them up
(01:13:21):
there on the on the wing and help. Even if
you're an undersized at least you can chip and delay
the inevitable just a little bit, you know. And it
was just they had a better play. They they're they're
the best situational football team in the world. Is can't
see Chiefs when it matters, they make a play. Otherwise
at times they kind of fly on around look bored.
At times they make enough place to take care of
(01:13:42):
their business. It's crazy, man.
Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
Let's take a look at the breakdown of all eight
sacks on CJ.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Stroud against the Chiefs. Next right here on Sports Talk seven.

So he's assured me, just like he did for LASIK procedure.
(01:14:09):
I didn't want to wear glasses or contacts, and man,
did he do it right. It was non invasive, wasn't

who's done about one hundred thousands, one hundred thousand of

(01:15:19):
it'll mean probably wide, is it long?
Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (01:15:22):
I don't know how thick the snow will be with
six inches, I'm not sure, but I'm sure you'll handle that.
Those those inches just just fine. Hang in there, yea,
at the crib. Stay at the crib. That's the best
place to do it. When six inches of snow hits
you just stay at the crib.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
You stay your ass at home.
Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
Ye, that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
Yeah, you know what that's like, right, tripley.
Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
Stay at home. I don't do you think I'm nuts
for one of my quarterbacks wants to train today. Sean,
cancel it, dude, I just got it. I just got sick.
I mean, you got to compete. I got what they
call us met it out, you know, as I got
the deal scientists. What are they call it? Sean infection?
Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
I I I understand Sean. No one's question your competitor. Dude,
go home.
Speaker 5 (01:16:08):
He believe the name?
Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
Now, Okay, we'll tell him to Who's Who's who?
Speaker 4 (01:16:13):
Or the kid he did the pops? Okay, well, look
tell tell dad.
Speaker 5 (01:16:17):
The dad man he wants wants to get better. Two
o'clock in the middle. But that's compete. It gonna be cold.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Would that windshield? No our pass?
Speaker 5 (01:16:24):
Hopefully we'll get some stuff done.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Yeah right, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:16:26):
I like the fact that the kid wants to guys
see him.
Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
He's ready to go.
Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
It's it's January.
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
I understand they got snow days coming up for the
kid freshman?
Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
What is he? Eighth grader? Okay, go play Fortnite, dude.
Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
Yeah, good kid.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Then that is pretty good though, man, if he wants
to train in this.
Speaker 5 (01:16:45):
Unfortunate I got a lot of kids are dedicated to
so do I.
Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
I had kids showed up yesterday. I wanted to hit.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Yeah, ten year olds going out of their way to
hit yesterday. So just uh, we're not practicing this week.
I can tell you that it ain't happening, man, seven
one three seven. It's talking about continue to talk about
these Texans, Philip, what's happening?
Speaker 14 (01:17:05):
Okay, Sean? Is your training today at two pm?
Speaker 5 (01:17:11):
My training today at two pm? Is that what you asked?
I'm scheduled to train with a quarterback today outside with
four receivers at two pm. I want to see how
it does because I don't want to put them too
much harms. Well, yeah, that's what we do, man, We
get back all right.
Speaker 14 (01:17:25):
So they say it's not going to start till seven. Yeah,
well it should be great weather for it, really Well yeah, I.
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
Don't know if twenty five degrees with the wind chill
is great weather. But we'll see.
Speaker 14 (01:17:37):
Yeah, true, Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 20 (01:17:40):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:17:41):
But you know, for playing in Kansas City on a Saturday,
it might work on.
Speaker 5 (01:17:47):
My guy doesn't get paid yet, so I'd like to
keep them healthy. So we'll see. We'll see.
Speaker 14 (01:17:52):
Well, yeah, that's that's job one.
Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Yea.
Speaker 14 (01:17:55):
So Sean, my question was with Kelsey, you know, why
not just mark him that he's not going to be
the one who's gonna beat us today? And you know what,
do they have five yards to stunt him at the line?
Take two linebackers like every player rotates them every other play,
(01:18:16):
and just try to stuff him at the line like
for the entire game.
Speaker 20 (01:18:21):
You know.
Speaker 14 (01:18:23):
You think that could work.
Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
Well, I've been begging for it for a couple handful
of years. Yeah, Philip, thank you, man. I appreciate the call.
I you know, I understand there's different ways. You can't
play somebody a good player, the same way all the time,
just like you can't play the same defense all the time.
A smart quarterback, smart coordinator that they'll eventually get you.
You've got to be adjusting on the fly and moving around.
(01:18:47):
But I still don't get why you would give free
run to Kelsey. That would be I've been saying it.
I said last week that would be my number one choice, Philip,
is to grab me a guy who's athletic at line,
like a hybrid type player who's physical but can also
run with Kelsey. See Kelsey's specialty is he gets he
(01:19:11):
knows how to get skinny into coverage. He is a
great finesse pass catcher, maybe the best we've ever had
at the position. And there is nobody in this league
at his position, maybe at any position, that knows how
to manipulate and work and around in zone coverage and
find that spot when a guy's going to run by,
and when to sit, when to push up and sit
(01:19:32):
and slide. There's nobody better. So what's the best way
to if a guy hits the ball three point fifty
on a golf course, if I had a choice, if
you could play defense on a golf course, what would
you do. I wouldn't give him the driver, Okay, I'd
take his best thing away. So to me, I go
(01:19:53):
into games, and I've always said it, I can't allow
your best player, notwithstanding the quarterback beat me. And unfortunately
with this great they took away everything. They took away
everything except the one guy that's the glaring neon sign
at the end of a tunnel, and it's Travis Kelce
(01:20:15):
and he tore you apart in space. So if you
know that's the case. Even if you do have to
rotate linebackers and in and out him once in a while,
double him once in a while, play single alshi. Here's
plenty physical to play that way, and it's much easier
for those guys. Did you hear and they were talking
about on the broadcast, Toney the you know the the
offensive lineman that moved from guard outside. Did you see
(01:20:38):
the one time you see when you're in And I
think it was it was Aikman it was talking about.
It made a great point. He got beat by a sack.
It was either they switched sides. It was either Will
Anderson and daneil Hunter had switched and I think it
was Will ran right by him and that he is
a Pro Bowl caliber player, but they moved outside because
he's unselfish one to help the team. So what's he do?
And Troy made the exact point I've been trying to
(01:20:59):
make forever, and it applies to Kelsey in this point
in what I'm making, but it applied here for Will Anderson.
When you're an offensive guard, you're used to playing in
a phone booth. There's guys around you, the center and
you are doubling up to the linebacker. You can double
team a guy like Chris Jones or somebody inside. So
you're playing in a phone booth. It's like a wrestling match, right,
You're always in contact with the player. He's got his
(01:21:21):
hand in the dirt, held his heads over the line
of scrimmage, you know, with the ball, and you're battling.
But when you move out to tackle and a guy
gets a wide nine and widens out, guess what. Now
you're in space and you got to deal with more
than one move and will Anderson just ran by him.
It's the same thing with Kelsey. Why would I allow
him his strength? Why wouldn't I make him play to
(01:21:41):
I don't want to say his weakness, but why wouldn't
I make him play to what is it? His strength?
At least make him work a little harder. And I said,
people need the responsible Sean wll I just motion him
and they do. But that's okay. Motion him now they've
gotten that. Let him motion, But you still can greet
him at the line of scrimmage. You got that five
yards and you maul him. And by that time, with
(01:22:02):
the great pass rush you have, at least you might
force Mahomes off his mark, right, I just I can't
get beat by your best, and I got beat by
two of the three things. You'd be able to control
your ability to stay focused on special teams, and they
were just awful and understanding line stunts and protection even
(01:22:23):
the basic ones, at least getting a hand on them.
I mean, it was at times a brutal embarrassment and
it's a hard position. I don't want to play it,
but that's why they get paid. And the last one,
which is difficult, as Kelsey, if you win two third,
if you win two of those three battles, maybe even
a third of those battles, of those three things, if
you win one of those phases, the Texans are playing
(01:22:43):
in Kansas City, I mean are playing in Buffalo next week.
Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
Yeah, for the FC toitle game. Yeah, you could.
Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Have come out of this and said Kelsey, caught one
hundred and seventeen yards one hundred and twenty yards with
the balls. We had four sacks and we kicked two
field goals, missed one. You still win a game. Yeah,
And the referees, I'll even give him that. The referees
on three call where it's like, really, this is blatant,
stop it. We know that, but I just have never
(01:23:09):
understood why would you let Kelsey. That's like given Tiger
Woods a three foot put I'm not comparing it to
be giving him a three foot putt. No, that's like
giving Tiger Woods a manhole to putt two. Everybody's putting
a hole saying, well, why don't I give when he's
playing the best in the world, Why don't I let
him in? Why why didn't he play to a man
hole to where he's just putting them? Well, oh, you're right,
(01:23:29):
the holes forty seven times bigger. No, you want to
shrink the hole for Woods when he was at his
best so he could knock it in. Same thing here.
Why would I offer him here? Dude, just have free
reign for the first five yards and then I can't
touch you. Yeah. No, I thought everything on the game
plan defensively was excellent. I thought their approach to Kelsey
was putrid. And I begged for it all week, and
(01:23:52):
I've been begging for it for years, and every week
I see. I'm going to tell you right now, Buffalo,
you've already seen this. You saw this movie the last
time when Alan and Mahomes went out there and Dull
do one of the great quarterback duels of all time.
And what do you do? You play off the ball
and Kelsey and Mahomes are are talking back and forth
and they go right back to the scene play and
you end up losing. They go down to kick Afield
(01:24:12):
going to win. If you do anything, if you or
if you don't do anything in this game other than
you got the line of scrimmage. You make you you know,
you make Kelsey feel like he was in a friggin' fistfight. Yeah,
if you don't, you will lose in Kansas City again.
I'm just telling you you will lose. YEP, at least
at that phase of the game.
Speaker 4 (01:24:33):

What is the most frustrating part of the loss for
you against the Chiefs? So we're gonna talk about this segments.
Get out to the phone lines, Mac, good morning.
Speaker 12 (01:27:37):
Hey, how you doing. How you doing, Sean?
Speaker 7 (01:27:38):
How you doing today?
Speaker 5 (01:27:39):
We're doing good? Thank you man? What's on your mind?
Speaker 21 (01:27:42):
What I want to ask you, Sean? I didn't never
play on the level you did. I didn't never see
what you've seen. First of all, I want to ask you,
do you feel that the resks were biased toward Mahomes
and those calls? That's my first question.
Speaker 5 (01:27:56):
The answer to that is absolutely. It's been like that
for the last handfullyars from Mahomes. And while I understand superstars,
I hate unwritten rules. Well, they deserve its. Superstars deserve it. No,
they don't. They don't deserve it anymore than the third
string quarterback does, just like nobody deserves a championship unless
you always fascinated. Well, man, this player deserved an NBA championship. Man, No,
(01:28:17):
you deserve it when you win it. It's the same
thing here. You don't deserve calls. Played a part of
the game. It wasn't the biggest part, but you got
to go into a game overcoming. There's gonna be about
three plays where they're gonna protect the Golden Boy. And
it doesn't mean the Golden Child's not a great player.
He's the best situational football player in this league, and
he's the best winner in sports right now, team sports.
He just is momes and that extra advantage. They don't
(01:28:40):
need the extra advantage. So, yes, I do believe that
there was a lean. I don't know. I'm not saying
the gambling side, but I can understand why people say
that this feels fixed. Yes, they gave him calls they
shouldn't have gave him in it's bush league. But that
doesn't take that doesn't diminish how good the Chiefs are though.
May make no mistake about it. You don't go fifteen
and two it just because of it. They're better than
(01:29:01):
that though.
Speaker 12 (01:29:02):
Okay, So let me ask you this question.
Speaker 8 (01:29:04):
Being that.
Speaker 21 (01:29:04):
It sounds like after the game the press conference I
heard with the players and the coach they knew that
going into the game something like that.
Speaker 9 (01:29:12):
So and I'm not, I'm not.
Speaker 7 (01:29:16):
I don't want to say.
Speaker 17 (01:29:17):
I don't know what I'm trying to.
Speaker 22 (01:29:18):
What I'm trying to say is this, It would have
seemed to me at some point in the game. You
figure that out, and you expand somebody to do what
shah Eir did a couple of weeks ago in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Just take him out and deal with corson Winz.
Speaker 17 (01:29:32):
I mean, just hitnim move.
Speaker 7 (01:29:33):
I mean, I'm just saying I know.
Speaker 22 (01:29:35):
That feel legal, but at some point you just say, hey,
whoever you did to get the three games suspension, take
his head off giving a concussion and that's deal with wins.
Speaker 12 (01:29:44):
Am I wrong.
Speaker 9 (01:29:44):
About that problem?
Speaker 5 (01:29:46):
Oh no, I mean you're not trying to hurt anybody, obviously,
but no, you're you're not. And see for me, Mack,
I am with you.
Speaker 20 (01:29:56):
One.
Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
You have to whatever adjustment is you have to make,
and you knew going in, then they're whatever that is.
And I don't know how you do it, but you
knew going in you were battling that's why you got
to win these other phases of the game. You almost
gotta it's almost like you got to hedge your bet. Well,
I know they're going to get two personal foul calls.
They do every week, so how are we going to
take away that thirty yard somewhere else? And unfortunately that's
(01:30:19):
been a problem. They're a little more undisciplined and they
don't adjust fast enough like some of the other teams
do on the offensive side of the ball, and some
of them listen, they're playing hard. I thought their defense
played well enough to beat anybody in the league other
than the Kelsey thing and a little help from the referees.
The defense has got a great future. But you still
have to be disciplined in situations, and unfortunately they let
(01:30:39):
they let what is a stake game, meaning a prime
stak game where everybody wants to watch, turn into a
lound hamburger. Referees make calls that affected them. Can't do it,
can't do it.
Speaker 12 (01:30:50):
Well. Like I said, that's all I was saying. I'm
going to say, Okay, we know you're gonna get this.
Speaker 9 (01:30:53):
Somebody hit him in the head, give him a concussion,
and get out of there.
Speaker 12 (01:30:56):
And that's all I wanted to say. So I also
wanted to say this, John.
Speaker 21 (01:30:58):
I haven't talked to you probably in about five or
six years, but every Christmas I still think about you.
Speaker 9 (01:31:04):
And your god.
Speaker 21 (01:31:05):
Man, I can't stop thinking when Christmas comes down here
the radio, I said, damn.
Speaker 7 (01:31:09):
So I'm just letting you know.
Speaker 21 (01:31:10):
You don't have to elaborate and let anybody else know
what we're talking about.
Speaker 7 (01:31:13):
But we both know what I'm talking about. And I
would always admire you.
Speaker 5 (01:31:16):
Today, Mac, I hon at great compliment and I don't
take it lightly and it was a life changer for
me and hopefully for him too, So thank you. And
you're always kind and around every year you remind me
of that, and it's it's something I don't take lightly
and I don't take the compliment for granted. So thank
you very much. Now, I know Mac doesn't mean hurt Mahomes.
(01:31:37):
I know he doesn't want you to hurt Mahomes and
concuss him. It'd be nice if mahomes ankle was a
little sore of the sidelines. Right, You're not trying to
hurt anybody. But I'm just going to tell you how
defensive players thinking along with what Max's saying is, if
you know you're going to get this, what eventually happens
because I don't. I don't subscribe to hurting anybody. I
mean those specially Malmes is a good d James is
(01:31:58):
a good dude. He just he just situation. Yeah, a legal,
vicious hit, that's legal. Yeah, not an illegal hit. But
I get what you're saying about the frustration. I understand
where Max's coming from. But Mahomes takes the rule and
milks it till the cows come home and they know
it and listen, they got to sit in those meeting rooms,
are like, oh, dude, look at the calls you get. Yeah,
(01:32:19):
well it's the just because you're a superstar doesn't mean
you deserve the calls, right, But this unwritten crap rule
that we have in sports is like, well, he's superstar,
but they are going to get the calls sadly enough.
So yeah, good legal hits I'm okay with, especially if
they're vicious, but legal. Nobody has a complaint about those.
But the referees got to be better. You got to
(01:32:41):
do better because you're opening up a can of worms
for all of us to question. If there's an NFL
officials at bet you just are, Yeah, you really are.
I understand he's the golden child and I get it. Yeah,
but even the golden child can't he's got to be
laughing his ass off at those calls.
Speaker 4 (01:32:55):
But then also things that fuel this conspiracy and who's
on the tape Clay Martin's Evan and O. When Patrick
Mahomes plays in games that he's calling ya getting that
draw exactly? There's other playoff games, right, So I don't know,
but I mean, listen, it's not mahomes fault that he
gets the calls. He just manipulates it as it would
wouldn't you, Yes, but it is a it's maddening, and
(01:33:17):
there was other reasons they lost.
Speaker 5 (01:33:19):
But you're not trying to hurt anybody. But I can
tell you this, you are is a defensive guy. At
some point in time, you know, if this is going
to continue to happen, people are gonna start taking shots.
Speaker 10 (01:33:27):
Dude.
Speaker 5 (01:33:27):
Just head on the fact that they the fact that
they love you know, I'm sure they all have so
much respect for Mahomes. You don't want to hurt. But
you get to a point and say, listen, if this
is the only way. How are we going to do this?
Do we got to get to the backup quarterback legally?
I don't know, but that's your goal every game as
a defender to hit the quarterback so hard their starter
that you hit him legally. I'm talking about that you
get him out of the game. You'd much rather play
(01:33:48):
the backup than you would the starter. Yes, but you
got to do it the right way. But the referees
always air on the side of protecting quarterbacks and they
triple air on the side of protecting mahomes. And that's
just a simple fact. Yeah, but they can't. It can't
diminish though how good the Chiefs are, dude, Situationally, they
just do some phenomenal stuff a different level than the
(01:34:09):
majority of the league. And you know what, you should
not be shocked if they going if they go in
there and listen to the best team in the NFC,
they're out.
Speaker 1 (01:34:17):
Yeah, they're done, gone, They're out.
Speaker 5 (01:34:19):
And Washington's got a rookie quarterback who's fantastic, and Philadelphia
does a lot. But I'm going to tell you what
if you can, if you now listen, go into a
game and let Barkley. But look at yes, how the Rams.
Let Barkley do what he did. I know that the
guy's a great player. It's hard. It's see. It's easier
for him because he's in the backfield right he gets
the ball quickly, at least the wide receiver. I can
prevent him from getting the ball down the field if
(01:34:40):
I'm maul him at the line of scrimmage. Barkley's gonna
get his touches. But you can't let the best guy
beat you. And well he had combined. Yeah, he had
to push a buck eighty or some two major home
run runs. The guy's a phenomenal player, So you can't
let him dominate you. If you're the Washington foot team
(01:35:00):
the Commanders, you just can't. But that's gonna be a
good game. The best team, the team that scared you
the most two rush because they're so explosive, is Detroit.
They're out. The AFC has got two teams that can
they're really good. Philadelphia is damn good too. But do
you trust their passing game right now? You're not? Neither
(01:35:21):
do I. But they play physical at the line of scrimmage,
and Barkley has taken his game to a whole new level.
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
Seven one, three, two, one, two, five, seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:35:29):
Got a lot of people that want to get in
and talk about this Texans loss. We will get to
everybody next right here on Sportslock seven.
Speaker 1 (01:35:35):
Ninety, The Shawn Salisbury Show with Sean Salisbury and Brian
Lima on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 4 (01:35:47):
Ninety, taking all your calls about these Texans. We've got
a lot of people that want to get in. Phone
lines are jammed up, so let's keep it. Crisp Tripley
will hang up on you. John, You're up first. Hello John.
All right, let's go from one John to another.
Speaker 5 (01:36:04):
John.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
What's up? John?
Speaker 20 (01:36:06):
Pay Sam, Brian hey Man, Look, I only have two
three things to say. Listen, man, we already know that
the a'st two years. The sore thing on this team
been that dog gone offensive line. Fire of those. It's
time to fire those offensive line coaches and go find
you an offensive line coach. Alan Kelsey seventy five years old,
(01:36:30):
that knows what he's doing. And I'm and that tight end. Sure,
don't even try to chill, don't try to block no
effort all season. He just want to run out there
and turn around and catch a pass. And when and
when he don't even chill his defender or throw his
(01:36:51):
defender off right a little bit, and his quarterback get
get blowed up. He runs back there and the Doug
got got Getney five men.
Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
We all good, and.
Speaker 20 (01:37:00):
We know we're not all good.
Speaker 12 (01:37:02):
You letting me get blowed up?
Speaker 20 (01:37:04):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
That guy right there is horrible.
Speaker 20 (01:37:07):
I you know, I liked him last season, but I
guess I did pay attention to whether he was making
an effort to kip all block.
Speaker 1 (01:37:14):
Maybe he was, but.
Speaker 20 (01:37:15):
Now he got this contract and he is so bad
this year. I've seen it this season where a dog
gone corner back, a guy living let him, he won't
even make it effe to block him.
Speaker 1 (01:37:28):
This guy got to go. Man, appreciate you, John, we
got to raise. I know he was going on a ram,
but we got everybody trying to get in, so let's
keep it rolling. I like his style, though here was
on fire.
Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
I brought up Dalton Schultz earlier and how bad he was.
Start to Phil, Phil, appreciate you holding, good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:37:50):
What we got here? Is this like a is this
a joke? Thet we just get put on hold.
Speaker 9 (01:38:00):
Like I'm about to see in an elevator.
Speaker 1 (01:38:02):
I don't know, man, he's at his dentist office. We
got going on exactly if you wait to see your dentist.
Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
All right, that's an interesting call.
Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
Well, thank you, I appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (01:38:13):
Man, nice, there we goes. I expected the pink panther
to come walking through the door, Inspector Cluse.
Speaker 12 (01:38:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:38:26):
I thought he was like you about to have a joke,
and he's giving us.
Speaker 5 (01:38:29):
A new cut that we can play down the weather.
Speaker 1 (01:38:30):
Thank you. It was interesting. What's up, John Jesus Man?
Speaker 10 (01:38:34):
What the f was that?
Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
Hey, man, don't be coming in here with that negativity.
Speaker 7 (01:38:37):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:38:38):
We went to we haven't talked to you in two weeks,
and now all of a sudden, you're I mean, when
is that? When is that?
Speaker 5 (01:38:42):
Right there?
Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
What you got on Jamika Ryan's leadership?
Speaker 10 (01:38:45):
It sucks. Let me kay you why and let me
kill you why. Demico ran when he signed his contract
as the head coach.
Speaker 9 (01:38:56):
He lost his man card, he lost his balls.
Speaker 10 (01:38:59):
Let me to you why. I don't care if he
did not see that damn player put his hands on
his special teams coordinator coach. Somebody told Ryan's Ryan should
have went over there, snatched his ass up, told him
sit on the bench and by the way, call your
mama and tell him get your bus ticket because your
ass ain't getting on a plane. He needs to quit
being a player's coach. You need to call people out.
(01:39:22):
You need to hold your team responsible. Quit trying to
be their best friend, and be a damn football coach,
Tamiko Ryans, because you are not going to be successful
doing this with your one and out. You're another butthole
chin dimple Bill O'Brian with your ten and seven record
and your ten and six record, yad is a hot
(01:39:42):
Now I'm gonna call CJ out. Hold on, I'm gonna
call CJ out. And because I know I'm on the timeline, CJ,
you need to take note of what Lamar Jackson said
last night. Yes, I know Lamar Jackson has two MVPs.
Lamar Jackson called his players out after losing to the Bills.
CJ needs to call out his offensive line and tell
him I cannot do nothing when I'm getting my ass
(01:40:05):
sacked eight nine times a game, larry Tonstall and all
the rest of those idiots. John before me was right,
Fire that offensive line coach and be done with it.
Speaker 1 (01:40:18):
John.
Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
Where did Lamar Jackson call it his own players? I
must have missed that.
Speaker 10 (01:40:22):
You missed it because in this press conference, go go
look it up.
Speaker 4 (01:40:25):
You're talking about where he's talking about the turnovers. Yes, yeah,
he's talking about himself. He's talking about the fumble. He's
talking about the fumble. Yes, he is talking about the fumble.
Of the headline on ESPN right now is Lamar Jackson
refuses to blame Mark Andrews, And then you're reading it
and he's talking about the fumble and the inner the
fumble in the interception that he committed.
Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
Himself.
Speaker 10 (01:40:48):
That's true, but also Mark Andrews needs to be held
responsible because that that fumble and then missing And I
know that catch was tough. That was a tough that
was gonna be.
Speaker 1 (01:40:57):
A tough game. But you gotta make that catch.
Speaker 10 (01:40:59):
Man, I understand. But you you know as well as
I do, that ball is it was very, very slippery.
I wanted to see Buffalo. I know the MVP race
has nothing to do with that outcome of the game.
It was already voted on. I think Josh should win
it this year. But and I know Lamars had a
hell of a year, He's had a hell of a year,
(01:41:21):
but he was given he was given the weapons he
was given the weapons.
Speaker 4 (01:41:25):
I mean, dang it, he was rolling. We gotta te
worry about it. We got time for a couple more.
Let's get to Neil Neil Saturn. What's up, guys, Saturn?
Speaker 1 (01:41:42):
Quick question for Sean.
Speaker 23 (01:41:47):
Now I get Taxan's no turnovers all that, but my
problem with my homes and the calls he gets.
Speaker 1 (01:41:56):
Is you hit a person.
Speaker 23 (01:42:00):
Foul or whatever, and you get a first down that
counts as basically a turnover, don't you think.
Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
And an extra four downs minimum. Yeah, there's no doubt.
There's no doubt it impacts the game, especially if it's
third and four or third nine and you get a
print there is it extends drives. It is basically like
another turnover, That's exactly, especially if they go score. On
the other hand, Yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 23 (01:42:25):
Yeah, yeah, it's just aggravating.
Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
It just added to a team that doesn't need that help.
They just need it fair right, No, Yeah, exactly, It's
just it's it's it's mind boggling, maddening, and it's quite
frankly an embarrassment to officiating because I know their job's tough,
but you can't just because he's a star you can't
protect him like that, So you give an Allen the
same protection this week you give Malmes. Are you going
(01:42:52):
to give it to Lamar? You're going to give it
to and I listen when you say that, automatically it
goes into Neil that everybody that you're not given the
Chiefs credit. There's nobody this show we give. I love
Andy Reid. The reason why I don't hate the Chiefs
is because they had to Reid. The reason why you
do is because it's like, they're so good, right, we
always we want them. They're the villain now because they've
been so good for so long. But there's a reason
(01:43:14):
they keep winning, and it's not always the officials. The
officials do a good job of helping, but you can't
do what they do. Think about this. They got dominated,
they got the Texans gave up eight sacks, Kelsey went off,
and the special teams got dominated. That really is the
difference in the game. Then you add to it, you're
gonna get a couple extra series because of personal foul
(01:43:34):
calls that were an embarrassment. There's no doubt. So yeah,
it's frustrating, but we can't diminish just how good the
Chiefs are because there is no team in pro sports
right now pro sports that plays situational game better than
the Chiefs period, offensively and defensively. Spagnola was brilliant in
the second half, and they just kind of find it's
(01:43:57):
such an overused term, Neil, They find a way. They've
played fairly average football for the majority of the game offensively,
and the Texans played out of their mind, and then
Kelsey broke their back and Mahomes making spectacular plays in
situations that most don't, and they continue to move on.
But yes, the officials didn't help, They sure as hell did,
(01:44:18):
and it was a borderline embarrassment, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (01:44:21):
All right, No, you're dead on. I don't understand how
Kelsey's that wide open.
Speaker 5 (01:44:27):
That's insane because you basically are saying, here, here's free run, dude,
and then we'll catch you at ten yards.
Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
Well, by then it's over, it's done. What do they say?
Speaker 5 (01:44:38):
It's when teams keep doing the same thing over and
over again. Are anybody you do it and expect a
different result? That's the definition of insanity. Every single week
you see it. Even when he doesn't play great football,
you can't give him free run. How about mauling him.
I'd rather have a holding penalty at the line of scrimmage,
getting in his face and being physical. Then I would
have an him run free in the middle of the
(01:44:59):
field and nobody puts a hand on him and gets
sixty yard gain or fifty yard or forty eight yards.
At least you've got to make him work a little
harder to get to space, and he still may be
able to do it, but you can't give him. You
can't give him cart blotch. This is not an American
Express Gold black card. Okay, Spend as much as you want, dude, Okay,
because then you've got to pay the piper, and he
(01:45:21):
apparently knows how to pay his bills on time. Because
to the tune of a buck twenty that destroyed a
great defensive effort yesterday and it was all pre snap
linement and blow an assignment. Awful, Neil, thanks brother, appreciate
the call.
Speaker 1 (01:45:36):
And he's right.
Speaker 5 (01:45:37):
It's like a couple extra turnovers the game. And you
can't afford to do that on the road against the
Kansas City Chiefs. And guess what, the window is wide open?
Why because they didn't even have their best roster out
there offensively. Why don't they get more players? But the
officials did that. The sidebar of the game is, yeah,
(01:45:58):
integrity is affected by this.
Speaker 4 (01:46:00):
There's no doubt Texans first team in NFL postseason history
to outgain their opponent by one hundred yards, have zero turnovers,
and lose the football.
Speaker 1 (01:46:08):
Game situational football.
Speaker 4 (01:46:11):
Prior to that, the Texans were forty nine to oh
in games with those statistics.
Speaker 5 (01:46:16):
Can you imagine today and we'll go to break. Yeah
said it earlier, Brian going in to watch tape if
they require them to a lot of times, you're just
cleaning out your locker and leaving because of the frustration.
Right now, you're going in to watch and you're gonna
watch that offensive line, and you're gonna watch a couple
of plays that you're gonna say, I got to put
a bag over my head because I'm embarrassed that I
didn't even get a hand on a guy right this late.
(01:46:36):
And I know they're given effort, but I've always told
you you better be playing hard. This had nothing to
do with playing hard. It has to do with playing smart.
And then an a gap guy who's the most dangerous man,
and then you're gonna watch special teams and you're gonna
be sick because Frank Ross is a hell of a coach.
But they were out coaching out executed yesterday. It was bad. Yeah,
it was bad. And there's then the Kelson thing. You're
gonna go and you're gonna come out of that saying
(01:46:56):
if we just do eight or ten plays better, not
not even perfect better. You are sitting here and we're
having a conversation about what kind of party we throw
in getting ready for next week.
Speaker 4 (01:47:08):
I hope Dalton Schultz if they do watch film, I
hope he gets hiss ass or roasted because he.
Speaker 5 (01:47:12):
Was well, you don't even know what block. You won't
even need to say anything to him because he's gonna
his teammates.
Speaker 1 (01:47:17):
You are going to look at him like, what are
you doing?
Speaker 5 (01:47:20):
If you, dude, if you're a defensive player and you
know how physical you are on this team and you
watched which you know, you gotta blame it on your teammates.
You that our job is to talk about their job
is to rally around each other. You're gonna sit back
and you're gonna say you expect this to go around,
fly around and be physical and that's what I'm seeing
from my guys on the other side. You know what,
Joe Mixon is the most physical player you got on offense. Yeah,
(01:47:41):
and unfortunately at times he's got to bring his own
blocker and that's him.
Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
That is him, it's his own damn self.
Speaker 4 (01:47:47):

out and have a blast tomorrow after them kids, No,
I love them kids. I love them kids.
Speaker 4 (01:49:35):
Stay your punk asses inside the kids.
Speaker 5 (01:49:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:49:39):
Actually, you know what I disagree.
Speaker 4 (01:49:40):
You know what you know what, get outside, put your
past fives down, your phone and your tiktoks.
Speaker 1 (01:49:46):
Go get in the snow, right, so let it have
a snowball.
Speaker 5 (01:49:49):
All these kids have never seen snow no, so they
can go out and have a blast out there. Man outside,
put a beanie on. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:49:55):
Yeah, man, put you put your park on.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
Let's go snowing it tomorrow. You won't, I think I might.
Speaker 4 (01:50:02):
You'd be the dude that pisses everybody off and shows
up to the golf course.
Speaker 5 (01:50:05):
He beautiful weather. We got here today?
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
Boys, huh, that guy's on the bag today.
Speaker 5 (01:50:08):
I played Saturday. It's like cold, little wind. Yeah, but
it hit that he was playing in the forties. But
solid ball track so solid ball striker, yeah, solid.
Speaker 1 (01:50:17):
You just smacked the balls around at you. And that's why.
Speaker 5 (01:50:20):
Now when you're on the golf course and no.
Speaker 1 (01:50:21):
I played, Yeah, oh you did play it player, Okay,
let it up and win. There you go, I don't
play dude.
Speaker 4 (01:50:26):
Seven one three, two five seven ninety. Let's get out
to the UH phone lines and we will talk to John.
Speaker 1 (01:50:33):
John. We got you. Yeah, yeah, what's happens?
Speaker 7 (01:50:37):
Good?
Speaker 1 (01:50:37):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (01:50:38):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (01:50:38):
What's good?
Speaker 20 (01:50:38):
Old guy? Pick here?
Speaker 6 (01:50:39):
You know what you guy with your call this deal
breakers And I see and I've seen Texas they had
a couple of deal breakers. Number one, when they uh
come back to second half, us go that quick testdown
Joe mix it and uh you cut kick, I mean
you kick that got but one job hit the field
goal when he didn' hit that, we didn't hit that
extra punt. Deal that took all the win him still
(01:51:00):
be entirely down by one. And then another one when
Patrick Mahome threw over through the receiver and the referees called.
Speaker 5 (01:51:10):
That targeted, which it wasn't.
Speaker 6 (01:51:13):
That's a deal breaking because that gave him they spied
the ball in the game, an extrapoe down to work with.
In other words, Troy Aigman said hisself, he said, pating
mahone on one of the plays, pacifically slowed up so
the man going out of bounds, they can hit him
through it could flop.
Speaker 5 (01:51:32):
He did that on the sideline. He did that on
the sideline. He slowed up to take the hit, but
he got hit inbounds. So they didn't call it rightfully.
So and I'm shocked they didn't call it.
Speaker 6 (01:51:40):
Yeah, it was it was the idea shown that he
the idea that he had that in mind. I know
they didn't call it, but the idea he had that. Yeah,
So so I think I think that.
Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:51:52):
One thing I got to say.
Speaker 10 (01:51:54):
About the Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:51:54):
They played great.
Speaker 6 (01:51:55):
They played like uh uh, they played like men Brown
thought they were played. I mean they played great, defense,
played great. They called they got the reugheree. Someone questioned
the call. But TJ. Strauss has got to get He
got to learn how to get rid of that football.
Speaker 9 (01:52:11):
He holds it too long.
Speaker 1 (01:52:12):
And they got away from the running games real quick,
real quick.
Speaker 5 (01:52:17):
Okay, John, thank you you can you can hang up
and listen to this. I was just gonna it didn't
require an answer from you. Good stuff. I if you
would have told me going into the game, and this
isn't a paddle on the back. We told you stuff
that they could not let happen or they would lose.
(01:52:40):
Not only they get beaten the special team's battle, they
got pounded, they got if I Kelsey, if I said
he's gonna catch one hundred and thirty yards worth the
balls and be in space and touchdowns, you just said
they're gonna lose. Can't let that happen. And if I
said in, they're giving up eight sacks, you looked at
me like, well, then they're getting blown out. Right, I'm
gonna tell you something now. That defense, aside from the
(01:53:03):
fact that whatever the game plan was on the Kelsey
release off the ball and letting him get into space,
I thought their game plan defensively was impeccable. I think
they fly around I did that defense. I hate when
when you say they should be proud of their performance.
If you'd have told me going in that's what they
were going to do a race, what I just said,
that did happen, and I said, here's what they're gonna do.
(01:53:26):
They are going to play. They're going to dominate for
the most part this game. Defensively. You just said, well,
they're coming out of there. And then I said, then there,
you just told me, well, then they're coming out of
this winning, right, John, Yeah, I would have said absolutely.
I said, but these three things are going to happen.
You just said, oh, what a buzzkill. They're gonna lose.
Everything they did defensively was was really really good, except
(01:53:50):
off the ball allowing Kelsey to have free run. But
this defense, they're going to watch him beat they're gonna say, man,
we put ourselves in position, and it from right from
the get go. After special teams put you in a mind,
you hold them to a field goal, and there was
this feeling that, man, if they can continue. As the
game started roll along second, Cordy said, the Chiefs are
going to be this is going to be a fourth
(01:54:11):
quarter game, and it was. But special team's offensive line
protection and the only thing that I was overly Mahomes
making plays in situations, which is phenomenal. The only thing
that I was impressed with about Kansas City's offense, aside
from situation, how they do it when it matters is
(01:54:32):
the way they just that they saw the weakness and
said they're gonna let Kelsey do this, let's let's let's
continue to use it. And they did. Other than that,
that defense played. When you say well enough to win,
well they didn't win, but they didn't get a lot
of help from the offensive line and from special teams.
Speaker 7 (01:54:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
Plus t J. Strauss Man, he had a he had
a good game. He did.
Speaker 7 (01:54:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:54:54):
Getting blocked by Larry Tunsen, Yeah, really good offensive coordinator.
Bobby's slow yeah yeah, Demiko Ryan, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:55:02):
But don't you agree though that this team's defense played
well enough that tjus Yeah, him too. I thought he
stood in there. Not to be confused with Levi Strauss,
right right, true. There's got a lot of money, strous man. Yes, yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
Gotta get out the five O twos or are they
the five fours? Are they five O twos?
Speaker 5 (01:55:20):
Have those? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
Exactly?
Speaker 5 (01:55:22):
It was Yeah, it just the Texans going into it.
The things they couldn't allow happened they did, and some
of them controllable. Yeah, and I think you could have
made it a lot tougher. That's the only The only
bitch I have about the game plan defensively is how
you played Kelsey at the last time. I don't I
don't understand it. Let me let me do They're smart too,
(01:55:44):
these are smart people. I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (01:55:47):
Let me let me do some civil math for go
to break, because we still got quite a few callers
trying to get in seven one, three, two and two
five seven ninety. If you take away Travis Kelcey's production
in the past game.
Speaker 1 (01:56:00):
For the Chiefs, he.
Speaker 4 (01:56:01):
Doesn't cut it in half, dude, one seventy seven minus
one seventeen sean. If you take Travis Kelcey out of
the game. The Kansas City Chiefs only threw for sixty
yards passing and ran for around the same ran for
sixty eight because I don't count the punter running backwards.
Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
To take a safety. To take a safety. Yeah, think
about that.
Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
Yeah, and you still Patrick Mahomes only threw for one
hundred and seventy seven yards.
Speaker 5 (01:56:32):
He didn't really play that good, right, but he did
in situational football. Yeah, mass the right throw and the
right decision at the right time, even though the rest
of it looked kind of a blood best. And that's
the way it's looked for the most part most of
the year. Hence why he's not even wasn't even his
name's not even been brought up in the MVP Award.
But when it's situations and you need him to make
(01:56:53):
a play, he always does. That's why he's the best
in the world.
Speaker 1 (01:56:56):
Yeah, he just is.
Speaker 5 (01:56:56):
And they win. But you go into that game like that,
with the way you look at it, you're saying, that's
why it's so maddening. You're like, eight secs just cut
it in half to four and a couple of them
were easily easily decide. You could decipher them and the
special teams come on, now, could come on.
Speaker 24 (01:57:12):
It.
Speaker 1 (01:57:13):
You just can't do it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:14):
Isn't it kind of funny to see the funny about it?
You know, I'm saying what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
No, So I'm gonna go into something a little bit different.
So who's the greatest quarterback of all time?
Speaker 1 (01:57:24):
Brady? Tom Brady?
Speaker 7 (01:57:25):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
Isn't it funny how when we look back when people
talk about his games in the playoffs, He's just a
game manager, is he? All he does is just manage
the game in Patrick Wonts doing the same damn thing,
and the same bitches were there about well they overprotect Brady. Yeah,
of course of course they did. And they're not supposed
to write just because you're a star, doesn't the rules
the rule, you don't overprotect him. But the unwritten real screw,
the unwritten, Yeah, shouldn't be there. But it can't diminish
(01:57:48):
how good the Chiefs are when there's pressure on, they
always find a way to win. So while it assisted
in continuing drives, the Texans did nothing in special teams
or at the offensive line, who give themselves that chance
to overcome Kelsey or even the referees calls. Yeah, they
didn't put themselves in position to do that because the
other two were so blatantly awful that it was elementary
(01:58:11):
school crap that you just can't do. And that's why
they're gonna be doing what you and I are doing
next week, and that's watching the friggin football game on
TV YEP seven one three two one two five seven nine.
You will continue to take your calls and get back
out to the phone lines. Also, where in the hell
was Christian Harrison the defensive game plan?
Speaker 5 (01:58:27):
That's next Country Boys Roofing, Country Boys Roofing LLC. Very easy, man,

Roofing LLC dot com. That's Countryboys Roofing LC dot com.
There is no better.
Speaker 14 (01:59:27):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
This is this Sean Salisbury show. Christian Harris really non
existent in the game plan, did some digging. He played
one defensive snap against the Chief. Sean he was involved
in eleven special team snaps twelve total plays, one of
them being on defense. It makes you, it makes you
I'm not saying I'm not questioning the coaching decision, but
(01:59:49):
it just makes you think, hmm, I wonder if Christian
Harris could have done better against Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 5 (01:59:55):
Also makes you think, why was he only in on
one play?
Speaker 7 (01:59:58):
Right?
Speaker 5 (02:00:01):
Was he not at full strength? Is he in the doghouse?
Speaker 7 (02:00:05):
Was he?
Speaker 5 (02:00:05):
I mean, you know you throw out all these things. Well,
was the coaching decision was he not prepared? Was he
prepared and just didn't get any run because they felt
they the other players are far better at some point
in time, though, the matchup on Kelsey, which isn't a matchup,
it wasn't much of a matchup yesterday because as you
just let you let him operate in space.
Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
It's too easy.
Speaker 5 (02:00:27):
Yeah, it was way too easy for the greatest pass
catching tight end we've seen in a long.
Speaker 1 (02:00:31):
Time, a long long time.
Speaker 4 (02:00:32):
It's got the phone lines, Tony, you're up first, Good morning, Hey,
how you guys do this morning?
Speaker 1 (02:00:38):
Good buddy? What's on your mind?
Speaker 17 (02:00:40):
All right?
Speaker 18 (02:00:40):
A couple of uh need explanations. I didn't see they
were criticizing Dalton Cheltz. I must maybe was into the
game when he fell down on a pass. But and
then what the heck happened with Boyd and Ross? Why
would he was he celebrating by throwing his helmet after
a seventy three yard return? I don't understand when they
(02:01:03):
never really fully explain that, So you guys could maybe
answer those two questions. The other thing on the covering Kelsey,
did y'all watch Pittsburgh and the Ravens and see how
they use DJ to tackle the running back on every play,
to take that running back eut of that game pretty
(02:01:24):
much or try to. So I'm just wondering why the
Texans didn't put somebody on Travis, and I mean just
pop him every time off the line of him, because
sometimes he looks like he's easy to get frustrated if
you hit him. I just wonder about that, so you can,
guys can discuss that. One thing is I wonder if
anybody could watch every possession after the bogus hits on
(02:01:54):
my homes the hip drop, wonder what happened after those
particular intluence and if it resulted in the points bawd chief,
then I'll let you guys go.
Speaker 1 (02:02:06):
Thanks you have, Thank you Tony real quick.
Speaker 4 (02:02:09):
On the Dalton Schultz, what we were talking about Tony
is his lack of blocking ability. There were at least
three or four plays where the edge rushers just blew
right past Dalton Schultz. We're not talking about his catching
ability or falling down on routes. We're talking about has
his pure lack of effort blocking defenders. And then the
Chris Boyd stuff, Sean, we talked about that. Chris Boyd
(02:02:30):
explained it after the game. He was extremely excited because
he thought he forced the fumble, didn't know that they
called him down or that they recovered it. The Chiefs
recovered it, and he was running over to his coach
and shoved him out of excitement, even though Frank Ross
was going to him and saying, hey man, you know
you can't be doing that.
Speaker 5 (02:02:46):
Well, it's it's I love the energy. There can be
more than one reason why you like or don't like things.
Loved his energy, great play to strip the ball, but
then there's that sense of selfishness of how are you
not to have an understanding that you don't understand he
can't take your helmet off. Situational awareness, can't take your
(02:03:07):
helmet off on the field, dude. Love his enthusiasm, Love
the fact that he wanted to go over there and
be energetic with his coach and fired up, but you
got to have awareness what's going on after he force
of them. But he spread it away from there like
I'd look what I did. It's a wee thing. So
if he got caught up in the energy, and I
won't want my special teams guys with energy, But you
can't take your helmet off. So that's an unforced error
(02:03:30):
that caused you fifteen more yards. And then there's the
pushing with the optics.
Speaker 1 (02:03:34):
Look bad.
Speaker 5 (02:03:35):
I knew it was excitement over the energy. Then he
realizes because he wasn't paying attention. Dude, you take your
helmet off. You've put us in a bigger bind after
a really good play on the special team even though
the special teams allow him to get sixty five yards.
How do you reward a saying that's a great special
teams play effort. Yes, but you still gave up a
sixty five opening kickoff return and posted three points before
(02:03:55):
anybody could take a deep breath.
Speaker 1 (02:03:57):
So get that.
Speaker 5 (02:03:58):
And as far as the Kelsey thing goes in, who
is the caller?
Speaker 1 (02:04:01):
Who is our caller?
Speaker 5 (02:04:02):
Tony? Yeah, we we've covered it. Had nausea in this morning,
but just a reminder because I know everybody can't listen
for four hours. Is my biggest My two biggest things
last week, where can't give Kelsey free run? And you
got to play great special teams and if you don't
do either, you're going to be in trouble. And the
third one was protect the quarterback, keep him up right,
And they didn't do any of those three things. Yeah,
(02:04:22):
otherwise than that, they were really good. But those three things,
and it wasn't just once or two times those three things.
They weren't good at the entire game, right, And and
then did you you compound it with referees that that
give a great player and a great team, And that's
not diminishing how good they are. Carte blanche to do
what they want. He's got an American Express black card.
(02:04:42):
He can do whatever he wants. Yeah, and nobody says
anything keep spending, but yeah, and their way to pay
the bill is to go pay it off in the
game and win. And they keep doing it, and they
keep extending and keep getting paid. Fine, referees didn't help.
Speaker 7 (02:04:55):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (02:04:55):
It's getting to the nine o'clock hour right here on

Speaker 1 (02:06:03):
Texans lose to the Chiefs. Their season is over.
Speaker 4 (02:06:05):
National Championship game tonight Notre Dame in Ohio State seven
three two seven and he taking your reactions on the
Texas lose to the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (02:06:13):
kJ. You're up first, Good morning.
Speaker 7 (02:06:15):
Well, I've lot in a minute, man, A lot of
shows is uh uh real quick?
Speaker 6 (02:06:21):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (02:06:21):
First and foremost, Chris Mardy to be released from the team.
It seems like every week we get an issue with
the dude in some way, single form, whether it be
a penalty, whether it be him or not solicited in
the wining position when he is giving a tance over
for you and he brings absolutely no value to this team.
So to me that was that was a serial on
top what he did, what he did with the helmet
(02:06:42):
and pushes Frank Rolps. I would give him day. How
excited you get? That is your boss. And if I
go to work and get excited because I did something
good at work and push my boss like that, I'm
unemployed at that point. So he needs to understand. You're
in the league, that's your boss. You have a job
to do, and you have to understand the situation. It's
the foremost. Secondly, Calammy fair Manner was the Mark Andrews
(02:07:05):
of our team yesterday or the other day. Because had
he made those those feel those and extra points, the situation,
as far as coaching, could have been approached different The
play calling could have been done differently. The way they
schemed to get points on the move from that point
could have been done differently. But you put their team
with again I'm not I know we didn't do it intimately,
(02:07:25):
but since maybe week five, Kenny Fairman has been a
low of a lot of visiting in an asset so
they needs to meet some evaluation done in that regards
just coming out season.
Speaker 2 (02:07:34):
Secondly, I don't.
Speaker 12 (02:07:39):
For the most part, I can.
Speaker 7 (02:07:40):
I can respect and appreciate greatness as much as Tom
Brady got good. Aside, I was always a big cam
Brady in Dawson because I didn't look at it as
a team dominated the league. I looked at it as
the fact that I'm actually watching greatness in real time.
I'm watching history being made in real time. And I
was that same way for pad Mahomes. But the scenes
(02:08:00):
that happened my Homes did on the field Saturday. But
straight up to me, Bush League, he is too good
from a quarterback to the resorts, to to to dumb
Poley taxtics to try to win the game. And that's
what we put him in, an acidly different life. As
far as the post of the game you want to
Some people want to call him games in the ship.
Some people want to try to call him getting your age.
I call him slot out, just flopping and cheats. I
(02:08:21):
hate it in the NBA. And if they're gonna start,
if this is going to be a trend in the NFL,
then it's gonna call It's not gonna make me stop
watching the game, but it's definitely gonna make me look
at players who will noted that as me and some
of the subtance athletes on the planet a little bit different. Second,
and finally, I'm wondering going into this out season with
(02:08:41):
the plessor of statard we have on the defensive side,
what role uh not deepen society offensitive mind our opposite side.
I'm genuinely wondering what their approach is going to be
with this oppositieve rye because games, and I know it's
a clichetus is Ben says, you will player, so games
are want to loss to the trenches and you have
(02:09:03):
a bunch of power, the puff that offensive line is
weakening WI sol of face and it's been consistent. There
was a game here or drive there over the course
of the second half of the season. They kind of
gave you role for optimistics, but in general, that offensive
line is a crocious. It's killing us as a team.
It's killing us as an organization because your break out
in as women in affectial deepens is when you get
(02:09:24):
they announce consistently. Your deepens is not going to feel
too often Anywhere's them now, and I'm generally wondering what
they're approaching, But I also want to ask you the
rick Son, what would your approach, Reef going into the
off season with this offensive line, because you're kind of limiting.
Speaker 1 (02:09:40):
Appreciate you, Kate, We got you, Jay.
Speaker 5 (02:09:41):
Thanks? Uh real quick. Going back to it, Mahomes is
to his point, he knows they favor him, and he
milks the rule. There's no question about it. Great player,
and they don't.
Speaker 1 (02:09:57):
They don't do.
Speaker 5 (02:09:58):
Anything about it other than continue to add to it. Now,
if you want him out, you're gonna have to beat
him some other way. The other ways that they could
have beat him, they couldn't do it. Yes, that's the problem.
Even with the officials calls, you were still in position
to win, but your special team sucked, your offensive line sucked,
and your ability to and otherwise great defensive performance. Kelsey
had free rein. I'm sure he went into the game shocked,
(02:10:20):
like they're gonna give me free run off the line
of scrimmage. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. Now,
I've never shot fishing a barrel before, but it seems
easy to me. As far as fair baron, I'm just
gonna say he's been he's been so good from long distance.
Speaker 1 (02:10:36):
kJ makes a good point.
Speaker 5 (02:10:38):
He was a liability at times on extra points and
field goals. He choked yesterday. He just did. And when
it comes to the offensive line, the simple things, the
simple things. A gap, mugger, most dangerous man. Block him.
You step left, center, steps right, and he runs right
through as if it was planned, even though it wasn't.
(02:11:00):
It's really hard not to get a hand on Chris Jones,
and they managed to miss out a few times. And
Carloftis treated you guys like it was a It was
a punk bitch slap right there. Carl Loftis ran around
you like he owned the Houston Texans offensive line. I'm
going to tell you how I'd approach the offensive line.
And I love those guys up front because I know
what builds teams defense. Proud you guys got after it,
(02:11:23):
but no moral victories because your biggest weakness was Kelsey,
who is their biggest strength, even though the numbers don't
say it this year. But when you give him free reign,
that's from that game plan has to change offensive line.
Nobody's job is safe. So to answer your question, kJ,
if I was a general manager or the head coach.
I'm evaluating the offensive line coach, and I'm evaluating the
(02:11:44):
entire offensive line. Tuntal included because he also has been
a problem with pre snap penalties. As good as he
is post snapped, he still puts my team in the
mind with controllable stuff, which tells me he's undisciplined, and
that's a problem for me. I'm evaluating them all. There's
nobody's jobs safe. There's nobody's job that can't be traded,
and there's nobody on the offensive line that can't be
moved or cut. Every single one of them, including the coach,
(02:12:08):
is getting evaluated like you do every player as hard
as possible. So don't walk in there in no put
it this way, I don't care how much money you make.
There's not one damn sacred cow in the offensive line
because each and every one of them have something you
look at and say, hmm, pretty good, And then each
and every one of them have something or more than
one thing that you say, the guy's not NFL level player,
(02:12:29):
he's an NFL level backup. He's not NFL meaning up there,
and all of them have shown those moments. So I
would the offensive line is gonna get grinded on so
bad this offseason. If it's me that by the time
it's done, they're gonna want the season to start again.
That the evaluation is so tough on them because they
literally they literally at times got better. It's the sustaining
(02:12:54):
Just watch watch the offensive lines that dominate to say
you're gonna get beat once in a while physically.
Speaker 1 (02:12:59):
My problem is that trollable stuff can't do that.
Speaker 5 (02:13:03):
Evaluate them all harshly. I can guarant ask to you,
did the offensive line as you see it now if
they have any clue, which I believe Nick does and
this team does, and to Miko does, that offensive line
will look different.
Speaker 1 (02:13:15):
To you next offseason. It should. It should.
Speaker 5 (02:13:18):
If it doesn't, shame on them, it should shame on them.
Speaker 4 (02:13:21):
Seven one, three, five, seven nine schedule Rodney. Before we
go to break, Rodney, what's happening?
Speaker 24 (02:13:26):
I get well, good morning, Sean and Brian. I just
wanted to call the talk about the game right quick,
but y'all go to break. I just want to know,
do y'all think that the Miko uh Nick would move
on from Chris Drauser. First of all, I don't nobody
high Chris Strauser anyway, he never been part of the system.
And you know, maybe I was thinking suggesting, maybe they
(02:13:47):
can reach out to Mike, Mike Munchet to get that line,
you know, to get that line better. That's to me
is what should be an optionation. At least give them
a call to acquire for your services. And then who
suggested will us for Sheddon Mason to play? He hadn't
played since the Christmas I mean on the twenty phrase
before the Christmas game when he got hurt in Kansas City.
(02:14:09):
Just start coming back into that note and he was risky.
Speaker 5 (02:14:13):
Yeah, I have a good day.
Speaker 4 (02:14:13):
A Hanko police, thank you, Rodney, Chris drous the offensive
line coach, Sean, I think, I mean they should evaluate it.
Obviously something something wasn't right when it came to this
offense Flyne. Well, if it's coaching, then get rid of
the coach.
Speaker 5 (02:14:27):
Well, if the same thing's happening week after week, either
you got a bunch of dudes that aren't paying attention
six days a week, or a coach isn't teaching it,
or is it whatever it is. To get through to
what do I always say, buy in? You got to
buy in and if you can't, and sometimes the buy
in's got to be you got to be able to
get them to If you can't dazzle them with brilliance,
(02:14:48):
you baffle them with bs whatever. I don't know how
you skin it, but you got to an a gap
MDM is that did they not teach it? Like I
have a hard time believe in a that for an
offensive line coash did not teach that? And then is
it technique where you're stepping you're stepping inside when you
should be punching and stepping outside, or if you're stepping
(02:15:08):
outside and you should be boom, you got an arm
free help with a punch and help and stun the
guy to give him a chance. Or if you're the
right tackle rookie or not, if the rookie can't block
Chris Jones. You knew Steve Spagnolo was going to move
Chris Jones around so you couldn't double him inside. You're
going to force the chip and Dalton Schultz can't block me. Okay,
he can't block me. He can catch it, he can't
(02:15:30):
block me on the other side of it. Out there.
Speaker 1 (02:15:33):
You knew that they were going to.
Speaker 5 (02:15:33):
Say, oh, we got a rookie at right tackle. Let's
put Jones, Chris Jones out there. Spagnola's not an idiot.
You go where the weakness is, with your best player
against your weak player. Yeah, and so what do you
do have to combat that if you can't get out
of your stance and technique wise, at least getting his way.
I mean, I understand Chris Jones looks like he dresses
in a phone booth, but he doesn't fly around in
(02:15:54):
a blue and red suit all the time. You know
he does. His feet are actually on the ground. As
good as he is, he's three hundred tight. You can't
get a hand on it, just just a hand. I
don't want the job, but guess what. I don't play
offensive line, but I can tell you what as an
edge rusher, I might have got a sack yesterday too.
So whether it's technique or something, the offensive line coach
(02:16:16):
is going to face because you're only as good as
the fellow's upfront. And if you're what happens if an
offensive coordinator team has got great talent or good talent
and even average hewn, but they don't score, you evaluate
and move on. If you don't think he's the best
I would imagine his job. I'm not saying this in dad.
I don't know if it is or not, or how
they feel in the building because they're only there during
(02:16:36):
the meetings you and I aren't.
Speaker 1 (02:16:37):
I don't see how they teach it.
Speaker 5 (02:16:40):
All indications he's been a good coach, but this year
the same mistakes keep happening. So it's either crappy ass
talent that we've over that they over scouted and overdrafted,
or it's part that and part not getting buy in
and the teaching's not reaching the person.
Speaker 7 (02:16:58):
I know.
Speaker 5 (02:16:58):
This is the way I've always treated in the meeting
room always. I can't move forward unless everybody's moving forward
with me. And if eight guys in that meeting room
know it and two don't, I can't move forward. But
if their lack of study and discipline is preventing us
from moving forward, then you got to cut the two
guys that are not getting it that they just can't
(02:17:20):
soak it in. And if they can soak it in
and you're not teaching it, then you got to replace
the offensive line coach so it does soak in. To me,
there is zero sacred cows on the offensive line. On
this team zero zero because you knew who you were
playing yesterday and you knew.
Speaker 1 (02:17:39):
What it took.
Speaker 5 (02:17:42):
Referee stuff aside, which was part of it. The other
part was much bigger. Can't protect your quarterback, can't get
Kelsey at the line of scrimmage, and you can't kick a.
Speaker 1 (02:17:51):
Field goal.
Speaker 5 (02:17:53):
You deserved to lose. Yet the defense, for the most
part played well enough to win, and I thought Sloak
actually had a pretty game playing yes day.
Speaker 1 (02:18:01):
We're not We're not and c J.
Speaker 5 (02:18:02):
Stroud, we can't this. This wasn't on coaching game plan
right on the name Kelsey.
Speaker 4 (02:18:07):
We're not defensively, We're not coming into this Monday show
bitching and moaning complain about Bobby Slowan.
Speaker 5 (02:18:12):
That's exactly play. And I think Stroud grew yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:18:17):
Sorry t J. Strouss my best yeah yet or Saturday?
Should I say?
Speaker 5 (02:18:20):
The problem is he'll be dead by the time he
by the time he's thirty. If this doesn't get.
Speaker 4 (02:18:26):
Better, rights continue to talk about the lack of protection
for CJ.
Speaker 1 (02:18:30):
Stroud.
Speaker 4 (02:18:30):
Also, Michael Big Jay, thank you for Holden. We'll get
to you guys next as well. Let's keep talking about
these Texans. This is this shot in Salsbury Show.
Speaker 1 (02:18:39):
Yes, that's very nice now with that fresh leather scent
on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:18:49):
This thing at times, the offensive line, I just the
pride of enough's enough. Yeah, we're enough's enough. At times,
I feel like I'm watching a group that I say,
you know, when your star gets hit with a fastball
on a ribcage after homering. Yeah, and the other picture,
(02:19:12):
you shouldn't have to say anything. I don't know if
you've ever seen this story. When Maddox was a cub
Greg Maddox and Rick Sutcliffe. Maddox was a rookie young player.
Greg Maddox was pitching early in his career. The ending
before Andre Dawson takes Eric Shao for the Padres hits
(02:19:35):
Andre Dawson in the head with fastball. Dawson's laying on
the ground everything if everybody's concerned, and in the middle
of it, he gets up and I mean bench is
empty and everything's there.
Speaker 1 (02:19:45):
Well.
Speaker 5 (02:19:47):
Andre Dawson then all of a sudden takes off and
goes after shout chasing around the field. I mean it
wasn't over right, Andrey Dawson was pissed Old Hawk was
going after him, so you know, bench is empty and
all that stuff. So Maddox is on a b Sutcliffe
tells him, he goes, He's throw it. He goes, You can't.
He goes. Because Maddox was given the mandate that if
he didn't win this game, they were sending him back
(02:20:08):
to the minor leagues. And Greg Maddox said, I don't care,
and sut Sutt tells a great stories, said, I told dude, no,
go in there, get these guys out and let's get
get the win, get to the next inning, get the win,
and keep your roster. You're gonna end up on a bus.
Maddox went and hit their guy and got sent down,
(02:20:29):
and a couple of weeks later was brought back up
and he never saw the minor leagues again. And the
rest is history. If you're taking five pitchers, they didn't
even Maddix is going to be one of those guys
you want your rotation well, and the way Sutt explains it,
and Maddix said it was the best thing he ever
did in his career because you.
Speaker 1 (02:20:44):
Know why he gained respect to respect to the clubs.
Speaker 5 (02:20:48):
When I see this, the pride factor that goes in
like Dalton Schultz, letting Carlofts run right by and then
chasing him like you're a baby duck fall around a
mother duck. I understand the effort. Listen, this isn't to
say trust me. I at times made football look awful hard,
I get it. But the controllable stuff he technique wise,
at least get in position, make him go the hard
way though, Those are the simple things you gotta do,
(02:21:09):
especially game one, game two I'm talking about. We're eighteen
games into season nineteen. Now is that picture that doesn't
throw at the guy after you hit my star after
he homeward, Shame on him. I just assume you take
a personal foul penalty and an offensive lineman every day
than a pre snap penalty. Do you get my point?
Speaker 7 (02:21:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:21:30):
The point is is teams love to play offensive lines
that pillow fight, a sorority pillow fight, yeah, or quite
frankly in this day, and a fraternity pillow fight. I
don't care what it is. Yeah, offensive lineman can't pillow fight.
(02:21:51):
They got to grab nuts. They got to choke people out.
They got if you're standing around and you hit my
quarterback late, they gotta do. You gotta you may have
to tackle it guy from behind and Stroud's gonna have
to learn and stars holding the ball longer. But my
point is my nasty's got to start there. Yeah, and
that's it's not personal. I'm talking about football nasty, a
(02:22:12):
nice guy in the world. When the ball snap, you
can take no crap from anybody, and unfortunately they take
a lot of crap.
Speaker 4 (02:22:21):
Yeah, but not even a butt. This is exactly who
the offensive line has been all season long. What's what
do you always say in baseball where saying, hey, let's
get to the sixty game mark, that'll tell you the
team that they are.
Speaker 5 (02:22:35):
Give me six weeks in the NFL, and you pretty
much told me what your mo is, right, exactly what
your identity is, right. The identity of this team is
flying around on defense, a superstar quarterback and quite frankly,
Mixing's was gonna thump you, yeah, yesterday, their identity was
her Saturday was can't block anybody on the simple stuff,
(02:22:57):
not to block Chris Jones. Simple least get a hand
on him. And I understand two is giving up all
the thing. Two is special teams inexcusable. Yeah, and the
only fault for me on defense, honest to god, was
that Kelsey didn't have to work for space. He didn't
have to work to get to space. It was too easy.
It was too easy. It's the same as when you're
(02:23:19):
blocking Jones and Karloftis. It'd be the same. Like I've
said before, why don't you give you sayin buld a
sixty meter head starts in one hundred meters. Desh, you
ain't beating him. No, he'll just humiliate you and laugh
at you on the way there. Yeah, it looked way
too easy in certain situations. The team's got a lot
of evaluating to do, and considering the fact that after
their regular season was up and down with inconsistencies, they
(02:23:41):
were in perfect position to walk out of Kansas City
a winner, and the rest just added to the That's
the other asterisk that goes in that you know, three
times a game they're getting a call. They just are.
But it doesn't diminish how good the Chiefs are because
if the Texans had the Chiefs moxie in situational football
little things, they would have won yesterday.
Speaker 24 (02:24:01):
Win.
Speaker 1 (02:24:01):
The Chiefs do the.
Speaker 5 (02:24:02):
Little things better than everybody else. Yep, that's why they
keep winning. And the play caller and head coach and
defensive coordinator and a quarterback are all pretty damn good.
Speaker 1 (02:24:10):
Yeah, and they've been there and they've done that. Yep,
Big Jay, thanks for all. Good morning. Now they don't
take it for granted either, Big Jay, what's up?
Speaker 9 (02:24:17):
Good morning, Good morning, gentlemen, Happy MLK day, Happy mg
A day.
Speaker 7 (02:24:23):
Let's do it.
Speaker 9 (02:24:25):
I'm not gonna regurgitate a bunch of things that have
been talked about all morning. The Chris Boyd hate is
really kind of shocking. You know, I've been a fan
of this guy since he was at Texas, and the
guy plays with emotion. He thought he had a turnover.
I agree with you, Sean everything you said. Hey, it's
a team thing. Let's keep the helmet on. I don't
(02:24:45):
think he made or tried to, you know, show up
the coach. He was fired up, he thought he made
a play, didn't. But man, maybe maybe some people should
do just like look into it before we start making
a reaction. Anyway. That's my Chris defense. The one thing
I'd like to talk about after all the nonsense and
all the should have, would have, could have, could have
(02:25:07):
didn't The Texans and you guys can correct me if
I'm wrong. You know, the Texans we had the ball
and it was the fourth down play with I'm I apologize.
I don't know how much time was left, probably four
or five minutes maybe, and the fourth down play where
the play clock was running down. And if you guys
already discussed this in the first hour, no.
Speaker 1 (02:25:25):
No, we haven't. Actually where they should have called a
time out.
Speaker 9 (02:25:28):
Yeah, doesn't Demico call the freaking timeout? Dude? I mean,
let's talk about that, because we that's an eight point
game at that point, right, so, and I understand you
want to save some timeouts, but dude, that's the this
is like the play, right, so let's take a time out,
let's call a good play or make sure we're executing.
But no, we snap it and it all goes to
(02:25:50):
hell in a handbasket, you know. That's that's that's my.
Speaker 5 (02:25:52):
Big When you're rushed, when you're rush and when you're
rushed like that and it becomes it's the panic sits in.
Didn't we say red flag being thrown for a challenge
on a yardage.
Speaker 1 (02:26:04):
To the yardage too? Yeah, I for whatever reason they
called down to get.
Speaker 5 (02:26:07):
That into that, I don't know. I'm going to tell
you what I don't ever do relay assists. I'm not
leaving timeouts or red flags on the board, right, No,
I'm using even if it's one that you may not get,
you may get a Hamburger call and get a break. Yeah, right,
I don't know why we'd leave that. Don' don't leave
a red flag in your in your back pocket. That
play you're talking about, big ja.
Speaker 4 (02:26:26):
It was fourth down and ten, The Texans had the
football at the Chief's forty yard line.
Speaker 1 (02:26:30):
The play clock ran down.
Speaker 4 (02:26:31):
Karl loftis blue right by Dalton Schultz gets the sack
at the Texans forty three yard line.
Speaker 5 (02:26:38):
Yeah, took him out and took him out of what
could have been a long field goal range with us
a five yard game, Yeah, desperate problems.
Speaker 9 (02:26:45):
We're moving the ball like we were able to move
the ball. Nico would make plays. Then he come off
the field and like he was dying and I'm like,
oh God, is this guy heard or what? But then
you know, we'd find ways to Hutchinson played a great game.
So it's like, you know, ten yards was it? Sometimes
with the Texans ten yards is like two miles.
Speaker 5 (02:27:03):
But especially and think about all this real quick, We're
saying all these ifs, just take away eight of the ifs,
just eight of them, and they win.
Speaker 1 (02:27:13):
They win.
Speaker 4 (02:27:13):
Yeah, right, we were you gonna say, bro, I was
gonna say, especially Big J. When you got Larry touns
in on the on the offensive line.
Speaker 1 (02:27:22):
Making plates.
Speaker 5 (02:27:23):
You know, Jofts was not only making jeans, he was
making plays and ran another thing too. And what is
my guy, dimico? Because I would have liked to see
totoa who are your most physical? Should I say hybrid guys?
Speaker 1 (02:27:38):
Toto? Well, people say Christian Harris, but then.
Speaker 5 (02:27:43):
But that's not what to me. I love how I
would have loved to see what is it? What does
he call?
Speaker 1 (02:27:49):
What does he called? Disease?
Speaker 5 (02:27:50):
Yeah, doesn't even, Big J.
Speaker 24 (02:27:53):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (02:27:53):
Do you know what it calls? No, it's is it?
Speaker 24 (02:28:00):
Just what is it?
Speaker 7 (02:28:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:28:03):
That's on your forehead. So get out of here. We
gotta go a big day.
Speaker 9 (02:28:13):
It's just fine.
Speaker 25 (02:28:14):
Hey, some people say it is fine, it's all your Hey, buddy,
got your ass by the way, Yeah, it's always there
you go, there you go, there you go.
Speaker 1 (02:28:27):
And a half is nice.
Speaker 5 (02:28:29):
If you ever notice the only guy who says four
and a half is nice as the guy who's packing
four and a half. God is ass a disease? But
I would have liked to see it. I think I'll
show your is physical enough. Yeah, the man handle some
line of scrimmage with that one, he said, A man,
I love it. You have to add a little levity
(02:28:50):
and light.
Speaker 4 (02:28:51):
Let me kiel the curtain back on that one. So yesterday, uh, Me,
Tripoli and Sean are in a group text and we're
talking about uh, you know, we're talking about the other
games that are being played. And then out of nowhere,
like an hour later, Sean Textan says, love, how to meet,
Love to meet? Go calling calling him Z's I said,
big and then he said he's nuts the way I said,
(02:29:14):
damn nowhere got his ass. Yeah, there's all this. We
had to add a little light to the situation.
Speaker 5 (02:29:21):
And by the way, this day and I know with
inauguration and everything has gone on a loss and it's
a holiday. Uh, we were a great We owe a
lot to doctor King, no doubt, man for not only
the sacrifices, but you know how we all talk about
wanting to make a difference, and we talk about it
and sometimes we just fall short. He lived it so special.
(02:29:44):
Thanks on this day as the reason we honor doctor
King today. And what a visionary, what a what a
difference maker, and quite frankly guts at a time when
a lot of people wouldn't do it.
Speaker 4 (02:30:00):
Doctor Martin Luther King Junior said, quote, the ultimate measure
of a man is not where he stands in moments
of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times
of challenge and controversy.
Speaker 5 (02:30:10):
And think about how often we quote doctor King. So
that day along with me, I know, the frustration of
the Texans and stuff, but not to get lost is
the reason we'll celebrate this holiday and celebrate the life
of a man who put his actually actions were his
words were, and.
Speaker 1 (02:30:26):
His actions were even better better.
Speaker 7 (02:30:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:30:27):
So and to you know, an inauguration as we head
in a different direction in the United States, and and
unfortunately for the Texans, they're going home.
Speaker 1 (02:30:36):
They are going home, headed to Cantcon if you will,
maybe Cabo, I don't know, headed to the couch.
Speaker 5 (02:30:40):
Probably somewhere warm because right now the chill factors kicking in.
Speaker 1 (02:30:44):
Yeah it sure is seven three seven, iety.
Speaker 4 (02:30:46):
We'll get back out to the phone lines next on
Sports Talk seven ainety Aqueduct Plumbing. Talking about that freeze,
the freeze is here. It's going to be extremely cold
for the rest of the week, basically for the next
seven eight days. So if you have any emergency needs,
Aqueduct Plumbing will be here for you. Two eight, one
four eight eight six two three eight They are ready
on call. Emergency services available by Aqueduct Plumbing. They're family
(02:31:09):
owned and operated, local right here in the city of Houston,
friendly and honest, providing free estimates with no hidden charges
that other companies will tack on. They tackle all jobs
larger small, from fossil repairs or drainage issues to tankless
water heater's tunnel jobs or whole house repiping. And with
that whole house repiping, they are the expert here in
the city of Houston. They've completed thousands of these jobs.
They also have leaked detection remodels and sewer jobs. And

emergency services on standby, on call, ready for you if
you need them during this freeze. And that's with Aqueduct
Plumbing two eight one four eight eight six two three
(02:31:52):
eight au Plumbing Company dot Com. And we've the Sean
Salisbury Show continued, Michael and the Heights.
Speaker 1 (02:32:01):
You're up first.
Speaker 26 (02:32:02):
Thanks for holding buddy, hey man, So let's get this
out of the way. The whole Mahomes slopping or the
bad calls. The first one will give him that one, right,
But the second one where he was running around and
he like dut down and then they hit him and
then they threw a flag that was such trash. And
uh but you know, I'm not gonna say we lost
the game because of that, but it certainly didn't help
(02:32:25):
going into this game.
Speaker 1 (02:32:26):
I mean, dude, congrats Chiefs.
Speaker 26 (02:32:28):
You beat a team with no wide receivers and a
crack and a and a and a C plus tight
end that you know. I mean, just our team was
so depleted offensively, but I definitely thought the defense was
played well enough.
Speaker 24 (02:32:40):
I mean, they only gave up twenty three points.
Speaker 20 (02:32:42):
So.
Speaker 1 (02:32:44):
That's winnable. Uh and uh.
Speaker 26 (02:32:48):
Man, you got to pick the offensive line. I mean,
we all y'all already kind of grinded on that. But
I mean I think, uh, in free agency, if you
could pick up a guard or something, someone who's proven,
you know, and spin a little bit of money. And
I don't think Larry mcnzell fits Nick Casario's style of player.
He's like a mercenary basically, and uh, you know, I
(02:33:09):
just don't think he's hungry anymore. I mean, the guy's
made two hundred million dollars and uh, I don't know,
it's just get sud's going to get killed, man. And uh,
I don't know, did you guys notice at the end
of the game when he came back out to basically
in the game, and uh, they were cheering him because
he was getting his ass beat the whole game, and
you know they're they're they're kind of cheering them on,
(02:33:30):
and like, you know, like, wow, this guy's like David
carrback there, you know, got sacked eight times, unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (02:33:36):
Uh, wasn't he wasn't going to beg out either.
Speaker 1 (02:33:40):
He stayed in it. He stayed in and hung in
no doubt. That's that's yeah, man, that's growth.
Speaker 5 (02:33:45):
Man.
Speaker 26 (02:33:45):
I honestly think I mean, let's remember dude, two years ago,
this team was garbage, right, and now our expectations are
such because we have a quarterback, so I think maybe
we're a year or two away and from competing.
Speaker 1 (02:33:59):
But man, the Chiefs were on fire, but I got bad.
Speaker 26 (02:34:02):
News from the Chiefs. I think the Bills got their number, man, don't.
I don't think they're going to repeat. I think the
Bill's got their number. I think it's going to be
a Bill's Redskins super Bowl. Oh hey, one more thing.
Who feels worse today? Texans fans or or Lions fans?
Speaker 1 (02:34:17):
My god? You know, dude, a home game?
Speaker 26 (02:34:20):
They won fifteen games, number one seed, bye week, Louise.
Speaker 5 (02:34:25):
Man, Well, the Lions do, because they were the best
team in the NFC all year long. And you know,
with they had, you know, they have like eighteen guys
or twenty guys on IR and they still I mean,
and they turned the ball over. They picked a bad
time to have a bad game at home, unfortunately for them.
And yeah, Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 1 (02:34:40):
Is a is a player. The kid's a player, man.
Speaker 26 (02:34:44):
Yea, this is going to be like a nineties powerhouse,
early nineties powerhouse super Bowl School Bills Bill's Redskins you know,
because back in the early nineties, that's when the Redskins were,
you know, good, and the same thing with the Bills
in the mid nineties. But I also think it's a
super Bowl that no, it's going to give a damn
if that's true.
Speaker 4 (02:35:02):
Didn't didn't Johnny play for the Redskins back then? Michael, Johnny, what's.
Speaker 5 (02:35:09):
Wrong with.
Speaker 1 (02:35:13):
Let's go two for two?
Speaker 5 (02:35:15):
Baby? What about? But Michael, Michael's right, what's wrong with you?
Speaker 7 (02:35:20):
Bet?
Speaker 1 (02:35:22):
What is wrong with you?
Speaker 5 (02:35:23):
I was like, where are you going with this? They said, Johnny,
here we go. But he's I mean it was the
Commanders got a legit chance man there there was so deep.
Yes he is, and then you know Buffalo is going
to have a challenge, but you gotta you got those
the legs of Josh.
Speaker 4 (02:35:40):
The Lions even got David Montgomery back for that game.
They had him and Gibbs and they they got fourteen.
What did you do about angles?
Speaker 5 (02:35:49):
I said, nobody. Nobody beats angles to the edge better
than that guy. People who have angles on him, he
runs by it.
Speaker 24 (02:35:58):
He is.
Speaker 5 (02:35:58):
He's the quickest to the edge of the play any
player in this league. And I don't see anybody that
matches it. The guy's incredible. He gets one, he gets
the If you don't keep your outside arm free and
he breaks contain, you're screwed. And they lost. Yeah, it's
a bummer. It is a bumber, But you know what,
congratulations to to Dan Quinn in the way his team
went about it. Two really good coaches in the game.
So back here, they've got to do some evaluating this.
(02:36:20):
And I wouldn't Tunsall's not a is not a sacred
cow either, He's not locked in this. I think they
got to look at the offensive line heavy.
Speaker 4 (02:36:27):
This like doesn't matter any realm of coaching at all,
but the fact that Dan Quinn rocks a snap back
hat backwards when he coaches.
Speaker 1 (02:36:36):
Love it. Cool, best guy.
Speaker 5 (02:36:38):
You can picture Campbell and Quinn going out and having
a beer after too, like like two hockey, big sk
hockey players. Yeah, they're all like one and the same. Yeah,
it's just it's it's a big, tall, white base white guy. Yeah,
we just didn't get to see Detroit. But that's part
of the attrition that goes on during a season. Man,
you got it, got it, And Washington ain't apologizing for
(02:36:59):
Detroit's injuries now you knew it was gonna be a
tough game. Yeah, heyes, an accurate quarterback.
Speaker 4 (02:37:03):
We we mentioned Dalton Schultz earlier in his terrible blocking
jobs in the game on Saturday, George car loftis had
three sacks guests who they all were on, Well, they
were all on Dalton Schultz.
Speaker 9 (02:37:17):
Yeap.
Speaker 5 (02:37:18):
Moral to that story is get him out during past
part exactly.
Speaker 4 (02:37:21):
I said that earlier in Earth Smith Junior. The bigger
tight end or or an extra line or an extra
guy to help out something can't.
Speaker 5 (02:37:29):
That's a that's a mismatch.
Speaker 20 (02:37:30):
That was.
Speaker 5 (02:37:30):
It was literally like a third grader block and a
pro Yeah, not good man, That's what it was. And
Carloft dismantled. He did.
Speaker 4 (02:37:38):
He had a good game, man, especially in the second
half seven seven. I us get into the final segment
of a Monday edition of The Shawn Salsbery.
Speaker 5 (02:37:45):
Show whitstvision dot Com. Jeff witzet doctor Jeff Witz at
my lasic procedure, guy in my care doctor and man
of my grateful for him. The frustration at times when
you're not you know, you didn't need a little adjustment here,
a little a justment there. But we don't like classes
or contacts. So I said, this was what it's been
a half dozen six seven years now to go to
doctor Whitst and say, can I change this, Let's get
this to tell me, walk me through this lasik stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:38:08):
And he did. And after he walked me through it,
I knew I was the right guy.
Speaker 5 (02:38:12):
And whether it's the deals you'll get, whether it's working
your payment plan, but what I know you're going to
get is great attention to detail. Somebody who will treat
your eyes like you would his own family. Somebody who
will make it easy on you not to worry about, well,
it's a lasik, it's something in my eye. But they
got the latest equipment. Is he's got such the attention
to explaining in detail that he walks through and you're like,
(02:38:33):
that was nothing and it's non invasive. Wasn't on the
table long I wasn't and seeing better than I had
since the prime of my vision. So give him a
call seven one three three sixty five ninety seven nine
nine seven one three three six five nine seven nine
nine nine, or go for your free evaluation, your free consultation.
Seven one three three sixty five nine seven nine nine.
There's no better lasik procedure guy anywhere around here and
(02:38:54):
maybe in the country. It's doctor Jeff Witozit. Buddy's of
mind to have used him, and they're pleased and you
will be too. Don't wait. If you're ready, give him
a call seven one, three, three, six, nine nine or
wits it with a W H I T S E
T T wisadvision dot com.
Speaker 1 (02:39:12):
Let the celebration start. Lord Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 5 (02:39:16):
Ninety Joseph and Pairland. Joseph, what's up man? Welcome in?
Speaker 17 (02:39:24):
Oh, yes, how are you doing this morning?
Speaker 18 (02:39:28):
Good?
Speaker 17 (02:39:29):
Like far As gump Ball, we see he's dead. An
office of land needs to be fixed and the coach
needs to be five. And that's all I gotta feel
about that. Have a good day.
Speaker 1 (02:39:42):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 5 (02:39:43):
I think a lot of people I would evaluate the
offensive line as heavy as I evaluate anything.
Speaker 1 (02:39:48):
Like you would every year.
Speaker 5 (02:39:49):
But you got to look dive from coach right on
down to the last guy on the offensive line to
your star. I don't believe there's any sacred cows on
the offensive line. I think they got some stuff they
got to fix if they're going to go where they
want to go. And uh, that's just when you're falling short,
you got to take a look at it, especially when
it's a trend.
Speaker 1 (02:40:06):
Got to fix it. Let's get to Jay, Jay welcome
in last Call to Day.
Speaker 5 (02:40:08):
How you doing man, Sean Sean Friday?
Speaker 1 (02:40:12):
Go back to Friday?
Speaker 24 (02:40:13):
Did you pick the Texans to get a win or
you were confused?
Speaker 5 (02:40:18):
No, I didn't pick the Texans to get a win.
I picked the Texans too. I picked the Chiefs to win,
but the Texans to keep it close.
Speaker 24 (02:40:24):
Okay, now, y'all, I hear y'all talking about the offensive
lineman right and Darden golden chokes can't block.
Speaker 12 (02:40:32):
But doesn't this fault on the quarterback as well? Can't
he read a blitz? Can he run out of the
pocket if he sees these guys.
Speaker 24 (02:40:40):
Coming at him?
Speaker 5 (02:40:41):
Well, I thought he did make some plays with his feet.
And I don't ever put every sack on on just
the offensive line, but I mean some of the some
of the protection was putrid yesterday and has been through
this year. Yes, there are times when a quarterback misses
a four week and you miss a blitz and you
don't throw hot or you just didn't see it. That
(02:41:01):
happens the majority of the time Yesterday, it felt to
me like they had enough blockers to protect and they
just they just didn't get it. Or Saturday, they just
didn't get it done. So, yes, there are times in
every game when a quarterback helps bad protection because he
doesn't there's too many guys to block, and then the
the extra guys on him and a receiver on a
side adjustment or a hot But I thought Stroud actually
(02:41:24):
hung in there and played a damn good game. I
don't think he was a weakness in the game at all.
I don't.
Speaker 12 (02:41:29):
All right, Okay, I can take that, but I don't
think they're ready.
Speaker 20 (02:41:33):
They're not ready.
Speaker 5 (02:41:33):
Well they're not. They're they're they're their second, their secret tier. Yes,
they're they're not Buffalo, they're not bold. I mean I
understand that the Buffalo they're they're not. They're and there
there's like a group of five The Texans are close.
They're hanging around. But there's a few things. They're too
undisciplined and they don't there's certain situational football. They don't
(02:41:54):
pay close enough attention to his players, which keeps them
out of the elite group. For sure, they got elite players,
but the overall the parts are better than the sum
when it comes to consistency on both sides of the
ball and special teams. Uh, they're gonna have to address that,
no doubt to be at the next level, No question.
Speaker 12 (02:42:11):
There you go, I believe alright.
Speaker 1 (02:42:14):
Appreciated, buddy, Thanks thanks to many.
Speaker 4 (02:42:16):
One thing that Jay mentioned about, uh it beating on
the quarterback George carl Loft is blown by Dalton Schultz.
Speaker 1 (02:42:22):
That's not a blitz he's a defensive end.
Speaker 5 (02:42:24):
Yeah, No, that's you know, so, yeah, I think you're talking.
Speaker 4 (02:42:27):
About No, I'm just saying saying because he mentioned Dalton
Schultz in that same breath. Well, Dalton Schultz, I'm not
talking about Dalton Schultz picking up blitzers. I'm talking about
blocking a freaking edge.
Speaker 5 (02:42:36):
When you're at the line of scrim Yeah, exactly, not
in space. And the truth is when the when the
pass rushers beating the quarterback to his drop, that's hard.
That's it's hard to overcome.
Speaker 1 (02:42:45):
Yeah, ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (02:42:46):
Things need fased on consistency.
Speaker 4 (02:42:48):
Here two things before we get out of here. Our guy, Uh,
Jim Canty, he's in the city.
Speaker 5 (02:42:56):
Yeah right, Jim Bow's here.
Speaker 1 (02:42:57):
Yeah, he's here. Baby. From the weather channel. Wish you
can't to the goal.
Speaker 4 (02:43:01):
That's how you know we're about to get into some
nasty weather. And he only goes to the big, big events.
Speaker 5 (02:43:06):
Man, Yeah, can Jimbo. He's looked in at the doppler. Dude,
he looked at the doppler. It'd be great to have
Jimbo in studio, be fantastic, that'd be awesome.
Speaker 4 (02:43:14):
Yeah, he's uh, he just tweeted out that he's somewhere
downtown covering this winter storm that we've got.
Speaker 5 (02:43:19):
You know about a legend. That's how you know Jimbo
comes to your town. You know it's cold major, Yeah, exactly.
And then oh, by the way, there's a national title
game tonight, Ohio State versus Notre Dame. What's the what's
the number?
Speaker 17 (02:43:31):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:43:31):
I mean, let me look at the numbering.
Speaker 5 (02:43:36):
No idea, you want to go to bed care. I
care just because I love college football. But it seems
like we've had it's been too long in between.
Speaker 1 (02:43:44):
Even though Ohio State is an eight and a half
point favorite.
Speaker 5 (02:43:49):
Give me Notre Dame with the points. You give me
those points, I'll take them. Notre Dame's played too good
this year. I think they'll keep it close. They may
even win the game. I do think Ohio State's the
most talented team in the country. I'll go on a
limbsay Ohio State wins, but Notre Dame keeps it close. Yet,
even as a Trojan, there's a part of me that's
routing for Notre Dame because I love Marcus Freeman. But
(02:44:09):
I love the way they've they've kind of they they've
you know what, they've blue collared it with some toughness
this year and some speed eight and a half points.
It feels to me like that's stealing for Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (02:44:19):
Eight and a half favored for Ohio State and then
they over under set at forty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (02:44:25):
Yeah, they believe that Notre Dames can get their ass well.
Speaker 5 (02:44:27):
Yeah, which in Ohio State's gifted, really talented team. We'll
see if they can put it all together. I don't
think Notre Dames. Notre Dame is going to go quietly
much respect for that that university and that team.
Speaker 4 (02:44:37):
We got some crazy weather on the way that's going
to impact the city this evening, obviously all day tomorrow
and then probably into Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (02:44:46):
So be safe out there, man, Stay warm, stay home.
Speaker 4 (02:44:49):
Watch some movies. Yeah, man, yeah, get the crib and
watch that lame ass National championship tonight.
Speaker 25 (02:44:54):
Whoa, whoa.
Speaker 5 (02:44:56):
Let's see how plays screw the buzz. They still got
to play the game. Let's see how it plays out.
Speaker 1 (02:45:00):
You play to win the game.
Speaker 5 (02:45:02):
Yeah, I can tell you this. If they missed three
field goals, neither team's gonna win. Okay, miss Yeah these.
Speaker 4 (02:45:08):
These Johnny Ligma, Baby, we got two callers back to
back segments. Let's go put it on the board. Yes,
there you go, that's gonna do it. Hey, bregmant is
still a free agent, by the way.
Speaker 5 (02:45:18):
Yeah, well there's your update. Have a great one. Good
to see you guys. Sorry, Texans is back to get
back to work.
Speaker 4 (02:45:24):
Is Sewn Salisbury, Triple Lee, Emmanuel Elmore. It is our producer,
Ian Brian Lilma. Thank you for listening. Back tomorrow morning
at six am. Don't go anywhere. The Matt Thomas Show
with the Ross is next.
