Speaker 1 (00:01):
Why isn't the rat race more racy? Construction completely shutting
down the Southwest Creek Way.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Bat anyway, enjoy your time crawling through Houston Road construction
with more.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Ninety bringing back defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins on a one
year deal. That literally just dropped three minutes ago, and
then U of H beats Baylor. They finished Big twelve
conference play, sean one conference loss, undefeated on the road.
Sean Tripley, Good morning, what's happening?
Speaker 4 (00:35):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Got a short segment here, and then we'll get back
on track for six thirty. We're to Sheldon rank by
the way gins one year deal. Yeah yeah, great to
be back on great to be here. Good weekend.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
I know this. The Cougs are gonna get a one seed.
They roll through this tournament. Okay, oh yeah, how about
all How how about the run at the buzzer for
Alabama to beat Auburn on the road on Senior Day?
The lefty floater, Yeah, just a little floater, a little
we did a little tear drop, a little runner floater.
You can you can have both. They don't have to
(01:12):
be mutually exclusive. We get a runner with a little floater.
You know what I'm saying, Doc, But I usually like
to think the runners off the PLEXI good, good word PLEXI. Yeah,
run off the plexiglass and the and the floaters just
in the lane with a little simple floater, but the
finish at the buzzer. Moving on, just.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Saying, Auburn's lost two in a row, hitting, hitting the
hitting the down spiral at the wrong time.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
You think they meet a made a may have ran
into a wall, could have Alice Kougs, haven't They're playing
to see around the league. DK Metcalf on his way
to on his way to Pittsburgh. Don't have a quarterback
to throw it to him? You know, Geno Smith's going
to be the quarterback of the Raiders. I guess basically,
Seattle just said the hell with twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Five Tyler Lockett cut. Yeah, DK Metcalf traded, Gino Smith traded.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
And if you when you really want to get paid,
just tell somebody you want traded, and then they'll give
you the highest non quarterback contract in history. And then
while you're at it, you'll just give the biggest quarterback
contract in history to Joshua Allen. Allen a lot of
money and fifty million guaranteed. Yeah, it'suid three thirty. Well
you know what though, in terms of sports and football,
(02:21):
the way they're giving contracts away, he's earned it. Yeah.
The problem is that's got to be the highest contract
for somebody who hadn't wont a Super Bowl either, right, Yeah,
I would think so.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
And oh, by the way, a good player, DeVante Adams
is headed to the Los Angeles Rams.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
And just to think that a couple of ten days
ago they were going to run Stafford and trying to
let Stafford get traded, and they brought him back. Wise move.
I still think Stafford can throw it about as good
as anybody in the league when it just comes to
letting it rip. But and in here, like we said,
the Cougars, Yeah, it was a good sports weekend, good
(02:55):
weekend all the way around. Little you know that that
chill in the air and that wind that kicked in
Saturday Sunday, No, we got to be done with that.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
We done with it.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
I think so time it's going to be eighty six
on Thursday this week. I like it. That's what I'm
talking about. Seventy one and clear skies today.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I think at some point it'd be fantastic, it'd be great. Well,
chill you this morning. All right, we're back up and rolling.
Little technical difficulties, but we are good to go. Got
a lot to dig into. Obviously, there was a frenzy
in the NFL yesterday and even this morning. Deals galore, trades,
free agent signings, Texans making a move this morning. We've
got a lot of astros things to get into, a
lot of big a lot of big discussions over the
(03:36):
weekend about Cam Smith fromer Valdez did not pitch. Well,
there's that as well, and then something happened with the
Rockets one of their star players, young star players gets injured.
Tons to get into. Let's start with these Houston astros.
Is Cam Smith have an actual opportunity to grab the
right field position a former GM ways in. Let's talk
(03:58):
about it next and with.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
U h beats Baylor over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
They finished a Big Twelve Conference play, one conference loss,
undefeated on the road, really really dominating fashion for the
Cougars in Big twelve Conference play. They keep going in
the Big Twelve Tournament this Thursday. Over the weekend, a
lot of a lot of movement in the NFL Spring
(04:30):
training continue to roll along. Some NBA action. My goodness,
there's all kinds of stuff going on. Jim Bowden, you know,
Jim Bowden.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Know all about him. He said this was what was
this for the athletic No. Jim Bowden is with MLB
Network I think, does he right for the athletic tours?
He does.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
He also does stuff with He's an MLB analyst and
insider for CBS Sports, the Athletic MLB Network Radio, Serious
X them. He was a GM for sixteen plus years.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Sure was Cincinnati for part of it, if I'm not mistaken.
He uh, let's see.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
He's tweeted out yesterday morning and he said we're at
Astro's camp today and one thing's for sure. Both GM
Dana Brown and manager Joe spot And made it clear
that Cam Smith will be given every opportunity to win
the right field job. And Jose Altuve told Jim Bowden
and Eduardo Perez that he hopes Cam Smith makes the team.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Hmm. In my mind, he's already won it making. He
hasn't even played right field. He's played another but third base,
played right field one day, wow, one time I think
last a week ago or something, they had him, or
a little Overweko they had him in right field. I
remember he was they were he was taking balls out there,
(05:50):
and I think they played him. But that's okay. I mean,
if you're you can learn, and if you can hit
the defense, I mean they can't any worse arm strength wise.
So to me, once again, it gets back to let
them just let them go do their thing. Let them
go do their thing, and and him in particular, he
(06:12):
can learn on the fly. And if he's got that,
there's a reason he's a top prospect. He performs at
every level when they you know, when he got traded
over here from the Cubs went from there, what sixth
prospect of the one here? And if you're gonna go
do it, go do it. Why is it a problem
if he goes and does it here as opposed to
(06:33):
at the minor league level. I'm if you're not worried
about his confidence, which you shouldn't be, then let it rip.
Let's go and to me, you may discover something special.
Why waste him on the farm. If you don't need to,
you don't need to. That's my point. If there's ever
a time to push somebody through to get them work.
(06:58):
I I just I know there's people the conservative part
of Yeah, we got to protect everything we do. Sometimes
you just got to go. You put him out there
and just let him, you know, go at the pace
that he needs to. You don't always have to go
at the slow pace and let him dominate this pitching,
dominate that pitch. It seems to be doing pretty good
at the spring training level of pitching. You may not
(07:18):
be getting their best on a daily basis and five
deep and like you're going to see on a daily
basis on a major league roster, But you know what,
how do you know he's not gonna go right there?
Maybe this guy's just different. Yeah, and if you're the
number one prospect in any organization, you're different. So I
don't have I not worried one bit about his confidence
(07:39):
or well, what if he fails. He's got to fail.
He's gonna have some failures. It doesn't mean it's a
you know, a full career failure. It's it's moments and
you test him and let him go, let it rip
and let him learn with the big boys. I don't
have any problem at all. And he's a better hitter
than the Remove Altuove from the situation. In true, he's
(08:01):
a better hitter than anybody else they are going to
put in the outfield. Yeah, they may, the average may
not show it right off the bat when you just
look at the raw ability, who's better than him? Take
al Tuvey out of it. Who's better than him? Name
name me an outfielder that would consistently be better than
him if he just if he takes care of his
(08:21):
business or when he comes into the batter's box, is
more feared than anybody else on that roster that's playing
the outfield.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
I can tell you right now, no one's fearing Jake
Myers of the plate. No one's fearing Chas McCormick at
the plate, even if Listen and Gammel and Mauricio dubond
ain't happen.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Okay, So let's just say he gets going and he
provides you the same numbers that McCormick gave you two
years ago. It's a pretty good season. Yeah, especially for
a rookie. That's right. He'll fall into twenty home runs
with his with his size and ability. I just I
don't I don't subscribe. I've seen it happen all the time.
(08:56):
I don't subscribe. Now, there's certain guys that maturity wise,
if you you know, I'm not around him. I don't
know anything about him, but it tells me he's handled
it pretty well. And if Jose al Tuova says, you
know what, I hope he makes the major league roster.
If there's a maturity about him that says, you know what,
failure or success is not going to affect me either way.
I'm just going to go out and do my thing.
I don't know why you'd worry about it. What all
(09:17):
of a sudden, he's going to forget how to hit,
to catch up to ninety six ninety seven, ninety eight
miles an hour. Like I said, he'll have his struggles.
Who didn't what great player hasn't had struggles. So with
that talent, if he if he's put it this way,
if he's eighty percent of the ability that we have
seen during spring training and that people talk about just
eighty percent of it, yeah, outside of Altuve, he'll be
(09:40):
their best outfielder at the plate. That ability, I mean,
it's just raw power and ability and the guy seems
to have it. And listen, I can get him an
extra hour's worth of work and taking ground balls and
hitting throwing people out it. So and are are you?
I mean, do you think there's a gold glover on
the roster already in the right and right field?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Okay, So listen, I I need run production. Listen, You're
going in already knowing that your outfield is going to
have some times where they're going to struggle defensively. Now,
myers and centerfield cover some ground, but you just got
to know going in and armwise, that they're going to
get challenged. But production at the plate has to pick
up from the outfield. Why not Cam Smith? Why not him?
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I don't, I don't I know that summer. Well, I'm
just I'm worried. Let's let him develop slow for what? Yeah,
for what?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
I think the the some of these media members when
if you post anything about Cam Smith and you say
that he has, Yeah, it's weird to me Why they're
so damned defensive when you make an opinion about Cam
Smith potentially making the open opening day roster.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Yeah, it's like it's like you just offended them. I
know it's weird, but oh, because you're a long lifing
you're you're you're a lifer and writing about or talking
about baseball. Well, you know what, there's a lot of
people like it. So to me, I don't. I don't
have any I don't have any problem. Now, if he
was struggling and you could see it visibly, like this
(11:11):
guy is far from ready, send him down, yeah, I
mean send him there or start spring. Yeah, start there
and let's see what happens. But if you have any questions, say,
you know what, he's got to prove it. He's got
to he's got to do something to prove that he
doesn't belong here. I mean, we we are under this.
There's no there's no specialized thing that says here's the
(11:32):
way you have to do it. But you're right, you'll
get some of no god isslan. But it's the same
people who say, rest your starting quarterback if he's a rookie,
play him, don't play him for four years because we
want to make sure that his fragile personality doesn't get hurt.
The people that write that, you know what the problem
is with them, they do have a fragile personality, or
(11:53):
the people that talk about it on television that that's there.
They think there's only one way to do it. Well,
if there's only one way to do it, then Bryce
Harper wouldn't have had success in the Major League baseball
or Kyle Tucker wouldn't be successful after the first hundred bats,
one hundred bats where he was like, eh, okay, this
guy's not very good right now, turned out okay for him. Yeah. So,
(12:14):
and I'm not saying Cam Smith's Kyle Tucker, but I'm
also saying I'm not saying he isn't okay. So, yeah,
there's no every player doesn't have to be treated the same.
And some guys are just better and unraw ability. Name
five guys on the team with better raw ability than
that guy. Raw ability, I mean size about everything, everything,
(12:37):
just pure raw ability. Yeah, just be few and farmable.
Let me ask you this. You didn't You didn't hesitate
pulling Jeremy Payney.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Up, No, you did not. He didn't even play in
Double A forced he was almost forced to.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
I don't think he almost forced to, right, Yeah, pretty much.
They lost Korea and he was air apparent.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Okay, and had his ups and downs as a rookie. Yeah, sure,
shine in the postseason and he's had his ups and
downs now, But I wouldn't they They didn't send him
back down to go get it. They just said, you
know what, you're going to fight through it. You're gonna
mand now, this is an important season for paying you,
no doubt, but you go fight through it, and we're
gonna find out if he's a career two fifty guy
or if he's a two seventy five guy. We'll know
(13:15):
soon he's out of struggles. But I don't think they've
ever thought, you know what, let's send him back down
to get him some work in triple A because he's
struggling right now, play your ass through it, and guess
what will happen. If it doesn't work, you'll go through it.
And if it doesn't work, you say, well the Kyle,
well guess what. Unfortunately, I know this sounds so just
cut and dry. But five years from now, if it
(13:36):
doesn't work, guess what, Brian, there's another prospect. There'll be
another guy, just like there always is, and if it
does work, you'll say grateful we didn't waste at bats
down at the minor league level. If there is such
a thing as wasting it. Back to get my point,
I just maybe I've seen it long enough to say,
I actually want to test the mental toughness first physically.
(13:57):
Is there any doubt the guy can play? Want to
test the mental toughness. And if listen, at some point
in time, I say it all the time, but if
you see mental weakness or emotional weakness creep in, if
they can't fix it, it'll be a hymn problem. Yeah,
he would have never fixed it and nut cut in time. Anyway.
I don't see that being an issue. Yeah. So so
far for Camp's overly protective in society and in sports,
(14:20):
out let it go, man, let him rip. There's no
doubt so far.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
In spring training, Cam Smith eighteen official plate appearances, thirteen
at bats because he has five walks, just two strikeouts,
seven RBI, two bombs one triple eight hits, batting averages
six to fifteen on basis seven to twenty two slugging
of one point two three one, which is an OPS
of nineteen fifty three. Yeah, let it rip, man, and
he's going to force them to put him on the
(14:44):
opening their roster.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
But if you, and my whole thing is that's what
I say, you make it miserable for them to have
to send you down.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Yeah, or start in the minor leaguen Well, people keep
forgetting you got to know who the GM GM is now.
Dana Brown loves prospects. Dana Brown loves the these young
guys moving up quickly. He has an eye for talent,
and Dana Brown loves scouting talent. Yes, that's the truth
is that's his specialty, right. Put it this way, He's
(15:12):
a talent scout that's learned to be a GM, not
the other way around.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
When I say talent evaluator is my point. And so
with this and but if you say that, Brian, you
know what the first thing people say is, Oh, it's
only it's amazing. It's only spring training. Yet if he
wasn't hitting, well, you know what they'd say, Yeah, the
guy's not ready because he's not good at spring training.
You see what I'm saying. On the positive side, it's
(15:37):
only spring training. But if he's not hitting spring training,
it's man, spring training epic. Got to send him down
so you don't get talk out of both sides of
your mouth. When it comes to it, you either run
him up there and let's see what happens and listen
if in the first month and a half it doesn't work,
send him down and let him go hit a triple
A and let's see what happens. Yeah, Okay, test him,
and if you test him, you might find something really
(15:59):
special in the outfield.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Right, you know another thing? Here we go, here we go,
We got here. I'm just saying you need to test
your vision. You know where to go? Right, No, I'm
not I'm not not dropping any You and Winnie Churchill,
we're gonna, we're gonna that's my guy. No, No, that's
my guy. We'll wait later on the show for that.
Don't worry about it. It is a Monday.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
So yeah, if I'm struggling my vision, where do I go?
Doctor Jeff witz it at wits at vision dot com.
W H I T S E T T. The very
best in the business. Talk to those who've gone to
the Lasik procedure like me, or that get eye care
from doctor whitst. When you're talking about your eyes, pretty
damn precious, right, so you might want to maximize that
and go visit with people. Will tell you what I'll
(16:41):
tell you. There's nobody better. He is attention to detail.
He'll treat your eyes like he'd treat his own families.
Or his own eyes, and he'll walk you through all
the steps of Lasik and the post I care. It's
non invasive. I wasn't on the table ten minutes and
seeing better than I had since the prime of my vision.
So for me, there's nobody better. It's doctor Jeff witz
It at wits it vision dot Com again, w h
(17:02):
I T S E T. When you're looking for your
eyes and they are precious, you want an expert, right.
You don't want to leave anything to chance, and you
won't chance anything but success with doctor Jeff wits It.
It's wits it Vision dot Com. Wits It Vision dot Com.
That's wits it Vision dot Com.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, You need to know now.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
You know, good gifts, good cake, party fun. But it
was I'll tell you what that sunbathing because it was
so warm over the world, and great golf too. You know,
what's your what's your boyfriend? At you condoms? He got
tired of riding barebacks, got tired of raw dogging. See
(17:46):
how quickly? Yeah, I mean I can't deny. Yeah, I
don't confirm nor deny. Okay, Yeah, I mean you know
mag what you say, you know what you know. Good,
it's good down birthday. March is a good month, as
you well know this man, is a lot of birthdays
(18:07):
in March. So it was good, Thank you man, it was.
Let me give some big uption real quick, great, John,
I just want to thank you for everything. Appreciate it
to see you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah, glad to be here, no problem, really really glad
to be here. Hey, we're talking about Cam Smith, the
astros number one prospect.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Let's get out to the phone lines. Talk to Don, Johnny.
What's up all right? Good talk, real.
Speaker 7 (18:31):
Quick, racious, happy belated, happy, belated birthday man.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Thank you, buddy, Appreciate you, man.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Hey.
Speaker 7 (18:37):
Two things, who's ever making the decision on whether or
not Cam Newton belongs to Cam Newton? If Cam Smith
doesn't belong up here, they need to be recycled down
to triple A.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
That's all I got to say about that one.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
Take the twelve. Take the twelve starting pitchers out. If
Camp Smith ain't on this lineup, name me the thirteen
that are.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
I'll hang up and listen. Thank you Don. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
If Cam Smith's not in here, you know, it's yeah,
who takes that? Who takes that last spot?
Speaker 4 (19:09):
I can tell you this, though I can tell you this,
he don's right. Send him now, what are we afraid of?
What are we afraid of? And to me, if you're
one that says, well, I'm afraid that it might hurt
his confidence, then you're afraid of your own shadow. Let
him learn a big deal. How many of us have
not had any times? Most athletes, I know, whether it's
(19:29):
year one that you get pulled up, or year three
or year five get kicked in the teeth, at some
point they struggle. Yeah, okay, And all of a sudden,
everybody's not built the same, and everybody's not built like
you are. Meaning the person who likes it or doesn't
like it, they're going to get an idea of what
kind of personality and how mentally tough he is. Like
(19:50):
I said, are you really worried that that big fellow
can't drive the baseball?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
No?
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Okay, So it really comes down can you handle failure
and success? Yeah, that's the bottom line. And people who
question it. And if he comes up here and hits
one ninety seven, good, go down and get your your
stuff right, regain your confidence, come back up, and if
you never regain it, it'll tell me you didn't. You
weren't going to regain it anyway. So it's we all
of a sudden think that, well, you got to get
a little seasoning and then you'll be ready. How many
(20:16):
times have you seen a guy stay down, come up
and gets his ass handed to him and has to
go back down, and he's been in minor leagues for
three or four years. Yeah, it to me. I'm one
of those guys. Shoot for the moon, and you'll grab
some stars and we'll see how cheesy that was. Shoot
for the moon, grab some stars. Yeah, while you're there.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Shoot for the shoot for the moon, and if you
can't reach the moon, at least you're on the stars.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Yeah, you grab a field in the way. Yeah, So
I just I'm one that's said, now, listen, if this
was a loaded outfield and a loaded roster with all
kinds of depth, you say we don't have room for him,
you can build that excuse in and say we'll have
room for him, but we're gonna have to wait a minute. Great,
But if not, and you told us that you were
going to leave it competent. We heard that from Joe Aspata,
(21:01):
We've heard it from Dana Brown, you're gonna leave it open. Well.
He seems to be handling that competition pretty well, and
there's no time frame or age limit on winning. The
guy needs to go down and get seasoned. If you
feel he's ahead of the head of the curve, then
let's go I just to me, you know what I do, Bud, Yeah,
(21:22):
if this continues for the next one week and a half,
two weeks, we got two weeks left or some you
know what I do for two and a half weeks,
stick him in right field and opening day, let's go play. Yeah,
let's let's go play baseball. I have zero issue with it.
I don't have an issue with it either, you know what.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
And people are going to make the argument all the
clock on him, you know, the picks, and at some
point in time you just.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Got to just say, screw that. What favors the player exactly?
You just everything can't be well, we're doing it for
you know. Sometimes you just gotta say he's ready, We're ready,
We're not worried about that other stuff. Let's go play.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
And then another thing on that is this out Like
you just said, this outfield is not very good, so
there's spots to be taken. You know what, and if
if Jake Myers doesn't hit well, or Chaz McCormick or well,
obviously Hoseel two has a different story, he'll be in
left field. But these other two spots, they're not solidified
(22:19):
in my opinion.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
And you know what I got with McCormick, Myers, and Dubon.
Three dudes who can play that you can two of them,
you can well, one of them can play all three
positions in McCormick right, yeah, Dubon can probably play two
of them left in center, which he has and Jake Myers,
if you can play center field, obviously he can play
left field as well. His arm doesn't say right field.
But then again, none of them do, right, So why
(22:43):
not go? And then you have you've added depth to
your your dugout and your bench. I just like I said,
and hey, and we may be wrong. He may struggle,
but I expect him to have some struggles. Yeah, all right,
And we may be wrong, and it may say, well,
you know what, you should have put him down. There's
going to be no shows and could have just like
if he goes up there and rakes, there's no reason
(23:03):
to say, see, he told you so or if he
goes down, See told you so, who cares? Just let
him go because you might find out because I got
news for you, he ain't hitting eighth in the lineup
if he's up. So let's go find out what the
guy's got. Yeah, and unless all of a sudden and
then you'll find out if he can handle the rigor
of a one hundred and sixty two game season, then
(23:25):
how he starts to adjust with that. But to me,
I don't think that the wrong answer to me would
be protect him because you're worried. The right answer is
let it rip, and if it doesn't work, there's always
a place to go down. Yeah. So I don't know.
I just there's certain guys that are built different, and
he appears not just physically, and I'm not around him
(23:46):
mentally and emotionally, but I would imagine the players are,
and most of them seeing it. Put it this way,
if you're mccormicker, Myers or Dubon, you're probably saying, yes,
send him down. We'd like to have some room for us,
But you got to do what's best for this baseball team,
not for what's as for Well, we got it, so
we have him under control. For you know, if he
if he helps your team play him.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, simple as that. Yes, let's get in the seven
o'clock hour. The Astros got an update on Christian Walker
and that oblique soreness?
Speaker 4 (24:16):
What was that update? That's next.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
K Houston at b HD.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Two Houston Home and the Rocket.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Is Sports Talk seven your home for your home teams.
Make Houston Sports done number one presage on your car
radio and then you would improve iHeartRadio app free never
sounded so good.
Speaker 9 (24:42):
Saulsburybury Houston.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Sean Salisbury to usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Seals Free Show.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Eleven fifty is when the coverge is going to start
right here on seven ninety your home four Astros Baseball,
The Rockets hosting the Magic tonight's seven pm tip off
six o'clock launch pad. Also on seven to ninety your
home for Rockets basketball. The Texans bringing back defensive tackle
Sheldon Rankings on a one year deal. University Houston beats
Baylor over the weekend. They finished Big twelve conference to
(25:23):
play with one conference loss, undefeated on the road. I
guess with the Astros and Blue Jays today Sean a
cover starting eleven fifty. Really really easy day for the
Matt Thomas Show with Ross. I mean, just more country
club on this lineup, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
It's really nice knowing is their initiation feed that country
club or dues or is it just pretty? Is it
just like just a country club.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
I don't think we can afford it. They can though,
huh yeah, obviously them and them in the eighteen man.
Oh and by the way, there'll be another twelve oh
seven first pitch on Wednesday and we'll carry that game
for the Astros. So covered will start eleven fifty, So
two out of the next three days, you know, half
days for the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Fantastic, But I mean, really, who's counting? Yeah, who's keeping score?
Speaker 5 (26:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (26:07):
We are, yeah, of course. Uh huh h good leng
The A team is the Matt Thomas Show. Wow, one
hundred and ten percent, fellas.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
That's what they're giving. Yeah, you're giving it or you
want one hundred ten percent? No, they're giving it, man,
they are. They're given one hundred ten percent. Yeah, man,
I mean they listen. They don't control the programming. They
just do their They just show up and do their thing. Man,
get off their nuts. They just contribute. Man, they go
and compete. There you have your your would you say,
(26:35):
get out their nuts?
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (26:36):
By the way I went, they don't control the programming, Brian,
They just show up and do their job.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
I went to a Mexican restaurant over the weekend yesterday.
Actually right here on the on the menu caesadilla rancheras
flower tortillas with b for chicken, and then also casadillas
flower tortillas stuff with bee for chicken.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
That doesn't great. It's on a menu in a restaurant.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
And then whoever the dude was that tweeted you over
the weekend, It was a menu from cheesecake factory. You
think I'm taking the advice of the cheesecake factory case
that he is probably better.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
It probably has more pub than the Mexican restaurant you
went to. No, no, no no. So I don't know
why you're still riding that pony.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Well, because I saw it over the weekend and you
guys were like, oh.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Yes, and all you gotta do cheese. If you want
to know what Italian, go talk to an Italian how'd
you bing bing down on the Yeah, if you let
her know what Mexican food is, talking to somebody who's Mexican,
and guess what we did twice last week and they
validated it. So that's going to be the go to
right there. You go to a Ferrari dealership and say, hey, man,
how's that Toyota Corolla. Hey, they probably sell Toyota corollas.
(27:41):
They're what's straight bullet against Toyota. Nothing the Corolla. That's
old school, okay, nothing against Tota.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
You could drive a Corolla for like five hundred thousand miles.
The engine Toyota.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
You bought it in nineteen sixty, it still holds its
value in twenty seventy. Yeah, probably, you know, maybe we
should get a car intoor. Oh that's right. Yeah, that hurt.
That hurts, That hurts, that'll cut deep. Hey that cardon.
I can't wait to drive that new truck. Yea, man,
we'll go over and talk to Oh hey in truth though,
(28:15):
well it's all been truth. Uh but you know, listen,
I know it hurts when the case of the talk
kind of cuts you deep a little bit. That's okay,
but hey, as they say what do they say, hey,
just dribble and shut up, shut up and dribbling sports.
That's my favorite. Have you ever noticed though, the guy
(28:36):
who tells you to stick to sports is like a
like a somebody on Twitter or somebody a writer or
a broadcaster that they're covering sports, but somehow they're somehow
when you play sports that you're not allowed to talk
about other things in life. But if you never played sports,
you're allowed to talk about sports and all the other
(28:57):
things in life. That's my favorite. Hey, stick well, dude,
I do have the same college degree that you do,
and you know, but so let me get this straight again.
You want the athlete who played the sport to stick
to sports, who has a college degree and maybe a
master's degree, but you're talking sports and didn't play the
(29:18):
sport that you're talking about. And when somebody weaves in
politics or entertainment or food, they want you to stick
to sports because you don't enough about it. You have
the person who's talking about it that their degree was
more important than yours. You get the fun, Oh, stick
to sports, you had it's some dude who's just thumbing
his nuts and it is sales job. Stick to oil
(29:41):
and gas man. Hey, hey, stick to a convenience store. Okay, yeah,
like Mohammad you know plase, Yeah, it's like you got Mohammed.
Did you see every morning? Yeah? Yeah. My guy's name
is Jeremiah too. I know it's a new one.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Okay, does that sound like your guy? Not, huh Jeremiah, Yeah,
Jeremiah one of my Okay, No, he's not new, he's
one of my guys. Okay, all right. Is he at
the same story as Muhammed or is that a new one? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Different time slot, oh okay, different time wise, yeah, Jeremiah. Okay,
good takes care of you though, great guy, Yeah, good man,
good because you're not you didn't show up with any
of that funky ass water you did last week.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Back to a centia I had. The guy had to
go in yesterday, Yeah to get it. But who's counting? Yeah, yeah,
he's tied. And also time change. It sucks. But this
is the way Ford, But this is the way it
always needs to stay. Now instead of yeah that's sleepy
lu yeah, but now this is the way it needs
(30:43):
to stay forever. More light. And here's my favorite, Well,
my kid's got to go to school in the dark.
I want to be the other way. Great, walk your
kid to the bus stop, he'll be okay, Yeah, a
little bit darker, that's okay, gimme light okay, up longer,
last time you're seeing Yeah, I don't did this five
(31:04):
o'clock and it's dark out. I'll pass. Do you feel
like it's six thirty You need to be in the sheets? No,
give me this forever. Just keep it as is for
the rest of our lives.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
So what is it going to be like next fifty years?
What is it like eight o'clock when the sun starts
going down here?
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Yeah, and in the middle of the summer, it'll be
at what time after nine?
Speaker 5 (31:21):
Right?
Speaker 4 (31:22):
So yeah, I'm all that. I'm all for it, no problem.
Oh my my nine year old has to get up
and it's dark out. Well what a bummer? Darn? Yeah,
oh well, you know what I got to siout it.
I mean, like I said, it's four forty five and
the kids are just getting off school. It's going to
be dark then too. Okay, if you stick to what
your size style is, yeah, get their ass up and
(31:43):
let's go get some brecky pooh and let's go. Speaking
of brecky poo, you're going for it, aren't you. No,
I brought I brought food. Little prep yeah, man, prep, Yeah,
don't worry about it, man, I got you. I'm kind
of hungry though, so maybe we should go to the
steak out. You get it, Salisbury's steak Yes, Sean Salisbury,
the steak Out. Oh yeah, you got it, you got it? Okay,
pick it up what you're putting there?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
You go, man, Let's head to the steak out next
right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
This is an agreement. Shanle Green, Shannon three ball any
Shawn Salisbury continues now Sports Talk seven ninety for your Rockies.
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there?
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Now?
Speaker 2 (32:27):
The Salisbury Steakouts, Salsbury Teakouts on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
It's time for the steak out here on the Sean
Salisbury Show. Sean Salisbury, Brian Limamanuel Elmore. Astros Blue Jays
twelve oh seven. The first pitch eleven fifty am is
when the covers is going to start this morning here
on seven on your home for Astros Baseball. Rockets take
(32:56):
on the Magic tonight. The Texans are bringing back defensive
tackle Sheldon Rankins on a one year deal, all right,
Sean for the stakeout the WNBA trying to get a
new deal with their what CBA, and apparently there's a
couple players that are threatening to strike if they can't
(33:20):
make more money. We've had discussions about equal pay.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
What do you make of this? Well, here's what I
make of it. Let me guess Angel Reese is at
the center of it. Yeah, correct, is the brand of
basketball on the WNBA better than it's ever been and
more eyes are watching it. Yeah, there's no doubt. And
(33:51):
Kitlin Clark's greatly responsible for it. Not saying Kitlin Clark's
the best player of all time. There's a lot of people.
The Cheryl Millers and and Lisa Leslie's and and Diana
Trossi's that came before her were damn good. We just
didn't get enough coverage of it. For some, they got
too much coverage of it. For some, we don't get
enough of it. We got great players in w NBA,
(34:13):
so yes, it's a heightened a pay pay raise for them. Sure,
But when you start talking and this is no disrespect
to women, I think you and I both have said
if it's good brand that I get it if you're
bringing in the same value. Let's say in sports, the numbers,
the ratings, the crowd, the memory, I mean, the you know,
(34:36):
the apparel. Everything's selling the same. You should, you should.
Here's a big problem, and they don't quite understand economics.
You're not bringing in the same that the NBA players are.
You do not deserve the same pay. Sorry to tell
you an upgrade and pay. Absolutely, but when you look
at revenue and profits can pair to the NBA. I'm
(35:01):
just comparing it to the sport. That's the their comparison.
They got a long way to go before that. So
more pay in their own league, in their own world. Yes,
equal pay, No, equal pay when it's equal.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Absolutely. A female CEO that runs a company that gives
the same productions of male ceo in the same way
deserves every ounce, the same bonuses, golden parachute, there's a salary,
all those things. No, I have zero problem. But we're
talking about the w NBA compared to the NBA. No,
you don't deserve equal pay. You don't have the same eyes,
(35:34):
you don't have the same ratings, you don't have the
same money coming in that they do. It's just you
just don't. So, no, you're not getting equal pay. And
if you threaten to hold out, I got news for you,
there'll be some that won't care. Matter of fact, the
majority of people won't care. Do I think they put
up a good brand of basketball? I damn well write
I believe they do. There's some great players to watch.
(35:55):
So when you say that here, oh, you don't think
they deserve equal pay. They deserve equal pay when the
profit and revenue is the same. That doesn't mean that
somebody else doesn't deserve more pay than the of the
person they're playing against. Sure, if you want to heighten
their pay and they've earned it, and the revenue's gone
up and ratings have gone up and profits have gone up,
guess what, then the player salary should go up. But
(36:18):
that's where it stops. Let's see. Basically, I mean, you can't.
You can't ask for equal pay when everything else isn't
the same. So you want more pay in your own
little in your own basketball world. Sure, Because there's more
attention to college basketball, women's and WNBA than we've ever seen,
and we're starting to get to understand that there's more
(36:39):
than one or two good players. There's a lot of
good players. They're bringing more attention and more eyeballs and
more ears to it. But when you start talking about
equal pay, the answer is absolutely not, because you don't
provide equal revenue and equal profit. And I got news
for you. If it goes away, there will be some
who absolutely don't care. Yeah, and that's not against the women.
(37:01):
It's just the facts it is. That's a hard fact.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
So Angel Reese over the weekend on her podcast, she
bugs the hell out of me.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Yeah, me and you both, man.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
She claimed players are prepared to sit out games to
demand higher salaries. She said, quote, I've got to get
in the meetings because I'm hearing like, if y'all don't
give us what we want, we sitting out end quote.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
And then Dejohn A.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Carrington also addressed the next w NBA collective Bargaining agreement
and said, quote that's a possibility end quote in regards
to players sitting out. And then also Angel Reese has
said the w NBA don't pay my bills at all.
I don't even think it pays one of my bills. Literally,
I never said anything about the NBA. We were prepared
(37:45):
to stay at the negotiating table for as long as
it takes.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
End quote all right, So she never say anything about
the NBA. So she what does she want more pay
or equal pay? She wants more pay? All right, Well,
then then go ahead and we prepared to sit out.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Put it this way.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
If you're looking for equal pay with the NBA or
what Lebron's making, I got news for you. I wouldn't
hold your breath. You sit out, You'll be sitting out
a long time.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Gosh, some of these comments that she's made were really
like take basketball out of it. It's just like, what
the hell are you doing in your life? So listen,
like this is literally what she said in October in
regards to the salaries. She said, quote, I'm living beyond
my means, hate paying hate hating pays them bills. I
(38:29):
just hope you know the wa WNBA don't pay my
bills at all. I don't even think that pays one
of my bills. Literally, I'm trying to think of my
rent of where I stay at. Let me do the
math real quick. I don't even know my WNBA salary.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Seventy four thousand?
Speaker 3 (38:41):
If y'all thought that WNBA check don't pay a thing
did that even pay my car note, I wouldn't even
be able to eat a sandwich With that, I wouldn't
even be able to eat.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
I wouldn't be able to live in quote, well, seventy
four thousand dollars, you can buy a burger. I assure
you can buy a salwich. First of all, let's improve
how we're addressing this with our verge and maybe you'll
get a little more respect. Number one. Number two is
Angel Reese is talk about thumb and her knows of
what they're doing. And if she how can she understand
(39:10):
economics of basketball, women's basketball, any kind of finance. If
Angel Reese doesn't know what her salary is, if she
has no idea what she's making in the WNBA, then
I probably wouldn't hire her as my financial advisor. No,
I'll stick to Trajan Wealth with that. So a good player,
(39:32):
she's I don't know how she's become the mouthpiece for
the entire league, but equal pay. I hate to tell
you this, Angel, You're never getting it. You're never with
what I'm talking about with the men in the same sport.
Why not because you're not good and there's not more
eyes on it. There is, But you're not getting it
because the revenue and profits are not the same and
they're not close and they never will be. But is
(39:54):
it a better brand of basketball because more people are
watching absolutely good players? There's some ext ex'sreamely good basketball
being played at times. It's better in the guys basketball
because they at least play a little more defense. But
I can tell you this, Angel Rees probably needs to
angel and she can't buy a sandwich with seventy four thousand. Sure,
I get she probably deserves more money than that, But
(40:15):
that's up to you guys in house, meaning your union,
your meetings, your meetings with your ownership. In the WNBA
good brand of basketball until you start selling out all arenas,
all players, and the eyes are the same that when
they're watching the NBA Finals, they're watching the they got
let's say they were on at the same time, and
you got to decide, am I watching Shay Gilles Alexander
(40:37):
and Oklahoma City play Cleveland? Or am I watching the
women's game? And when we get to a point where
the ratings and revenue and profits are the same, guess
what you can get equal pay. And that's why, like
I said, I go to whether it's an NFL referee,
whether it's a CEO, whether it's a top salesperson. If
you're producing the same way or if the guys not
(40:59):
producing as much as the woman, he shouldn't get paid
as much. That's not a prize. To me, performance has
nothing to do with gender. If you're good, you're good.
I don't give a rats ask what your gender is.
As long as if you're producing, you ought to get
paid the same or more than the next person, male
or female. But when it comes to basketball, you need
to talk to the ownership in your own league and
(41:20):
probably keep it there and compartmentalize, because if you're comparing
it to other men's sports, there you get You're not
you're you're you're barking up a tree that you're never ever, ever,
ever ever with the way it is now, you're not
getting there. No, you're just not getting But if an
Angel Reas needs to school herself on finance and what
a and what a sandwich costs, you can even get
(41:42):
an egg sandwich for for what she's making.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
It's it's funny to me because she makes comments like this,
people crush her for it. But then there's also people.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
Like, what do you.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
Why is everyone have to come down on angel rees
the angel reeves hate is weird and then just making
comments like that. But a lot of her hate is
self inflicted, That's what I'm saying. Yes, a lot of
her hate is self inflicted. In if you want to
represent it, well, understand the structure, the pay structure. Understand
why school yourself or go back and go get a
(42:13):
finance degree. I don't even know what a degree's in,
but or if it's not a finance degree, take a
few classes and say, can seventy four or seventy five
thousand dollars buy me a soundch Sure it can? I
mean she should. She made it sound like, what about
the guy who's who's or the gal who are kicking
ass in their career and making fifty Do they deserve
more pay? Sure they do, so deal with your own union,
(42:34):
deal with that and do it. But let's not make
comparisons to the revenue and profits in some other male sport.
When you get to it, you get to equal pay.
Until then should you get a pay raise in your
own if you're only making seventy five gen Yeah, probably,
But in the pay structure of things and the revenue
and the what your your own league is paying? Where
(42:55):
do you rank in that? Of course? But doesn't everybody
want more pay male and female in their own sport
or their own job. Of course they do. Some give
you more pay, some don't. So Angel Reese is I
would say that Angel Reese isn't the spokesperson. I want
no representing my finances when it comes to representing the WNBA,
absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
Seven one three two one two five, seven ninety is
the number to join. We'll got out to the phone
lines next. On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
This Seawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
Four Rockets Basketball seven one three two one two five
seven ninety is the number.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Two joints. Talk to Andy? What's up Andy?
Speaker 8 (43:34):
Angel Race?
Speaker 5 (43:35):
Hell?
Speaker 10 (43:36):
She should provise more comic relief with her basketball.
Speaker 8 (43:39):
Players than she does.
Speaker 4 (43:41):
Oh did we lose him?
Speaker 3 (43:43):
Not sure what happened a little difficulty on Andy side.
See if we can get him back up here? And uh,
just a second. When it comes to the Houston Astros,
Christian Walker was flown back to Houston, got an MRI
on his oblique soreness, and it looks like they got
(44:04):
some good news. Christian Walker said he's not swinging a
bat for a few days and then we'll start his
swinging progression. He said his diagnosis was quote relatively good
news end quote. It's good news for the Houston Astros
in regards to Christian Walker because there was some concern
there with that oblique injury. He did have an oblique
injury last year that kept him out for a little
(44:26):
over a month. Let's see if we can get Andy
back up on the phone lines.
Speaker 11 (44:29):
Andy there, Yeah, sorry about that. Much have been a
black hole area. I gotta look for black helicopters flying around. Hey, yeah,
she's more comic relief. My goodness, you did hit her
name on YouTube and all this stuff. Pulls up and
watch your play. My goodness, it's hilarious. And by the way,
(44:49):
she the NBA gives them owns fifty percent of the WNBA.
The NBA mate thirteen billion a year revenues. The WNBA
loses about ten million a year, and they just signed
a two hundred million dollar media deal where it used
(45:11):
to be sixty million, but they're still expected to lose
forty million this year. They none of them have deserved
raiss hell. It's a disaster the WNBA.
Speaker 10 (45:26):
And Sean You're right and Brian cam Smith. If it's
a competition, like Dana Brown said it was, he's your
starting right fielder and he's batting second in front of
algarethm That way, they give him every opportunity to see
good pitches. Amen that you didn't got him seventh or
(45:50):
eight or six. You got him right in front of
your big dog, and he's gonna seen the best pitches
of anybody in that lineup.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
Couldn't agree more. I listen, if the competition's open, he
starts opening day. In my opinion, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll
learn on the fly.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
Yep.
Speaker 10 (46:08):
Look, it looks like Decenzo is fucking from the other.
Can Detento play.
Speaker 4 (46:13):
Center I don't think. I mean, maybe he can, but
I don't think they're giving him a lot of run there. Unfortunately,
for for plate purpose isn't armed and all that. Jake
Myers is going to be your guy in centerfield for now.
Speaker 5 (46:27):
And you and I both for that.
Speaker 10 (46:29):
Yeah, and you know what that's been said. That means
that that guy that's I think his last three years,
he's an average about two to twenty a year, is
your starting center fielder, and it should be McCormick. Deserves
it more over him and Dubond deserves it more over
McCormick and put Rogers at second base. I mean, my goodness,
(46:55):
don't I don't understand why why is Myers are starting
center fielder.
Speaker 4 (47:01):
I think the question is is it because they like
Jake Myers so much? Or is it because they just
feel like they don't in their mind they don't have
I mean, they rave about his potential, but I got
to see more production. You're exactly. I think we're stuck
with the fact that it's because of his glove, and
they also know in the corners right now, outfield wise,
they're not going to win a Gold Glove, so they
got a guy who can roam center field. But in truth,
(47:24):
Jake Myers does the one thing well. He's the defensive
center fielder who doesn't hit and has a below average arm.
That's about that.
Speaker 10 (47:32):
That's didn't Verlander always have to have Dubond in center field?
Speaker 8 (47:37):
Yes, okay, that's all I need to know.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
There you go, Bud, Thanks, Andy, appreciate it. He's right
about both. The investment in the women's basketball financially is
not real good right now, No, it's not. Is it
a better branded basketball. Yes, but if you want to
lose money invest in it. Yeah, not because the players,
just because there's still this I don't know if it's
(48:01):
the stigma of they don't play good. They play good basketball,
but you're not. You're not getting rich off that investment.
You're losing money.
Speaker 6 (48:08):
But I do.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
I love their commitment to the women's game. But an
Angel Reese's case, you here, you can't. You're really in
no position to threaten we were gonna walk out. Well, okay,
go ahead, okay, pack of lunch, pack of lunch. You're
gonna be You're gonna be around a while. And it's
good bad. There's some good players, man, but you're just
(48:29):
you're just not gonna get You're not gonna make a
million and a half dollars a year. You better get
all those Uh is it McDonald's. What's her endorsement now
that I see her on McDonald's. You get all that,
you get all that? Why you can get all that?
Why you can because you're you're salary. You're not You're
not gonna make two million dollars a year as a
basketball player in the women's league right now. They can't
afford it. Losing too much when it comes to I know,
(48:53):
smart business people don't usually like to lose a lot
of money on a regular basis. So angel Rea is
probably going to have to stand in line if that's
the case, meaning stand in line knowing that you're going
to be there a while. So so bring a lunch.
A matter of fact, brings some McDonald's some happy meals too.
We ain't gonna get you. You're not going to get
you're not making money. It's equivalent to anywhere near men's pay.
(49:16):
What's her what's her meal? I don't have any idea.
It's like a double cheeseburg or something like that. It's simple.
But the seventy five grands or so that she said
she's making, can she pay for the meal? Or she
get that free? Hits? She gets Mickey's free, I think
because she's endorsing so but according to her, she can't
even eat on it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
Well, also, she for whatever reason, decided to let people
know how much she pays in rent.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
Eight thousand dollars in rent. Let's get back to fiscally responsible. Okay,
she's not, so she's telling us she pays. What does
she play again with Team Chicago plays Okay, Chicago's expensive.
So she's paying eight thousand in rent knowing that she
doesn't get paid a lot of money. So she's living
(50:02):
beyond her means. Is that their fault or her fault?
That's her problem, you think, Yeah, so we go. So
I don't know what kind of vehicles she drives. So
you're buying all this. Yeah, you're mad that you're not
get paid and you're living beyond your means. I would
suggest you quit living beyond your means or you're going
to be chasing money, just like you do when you're gambling. Yeah,
(50:22):
not her, but anybody. Hey, man, i'm down a thousand,
let me bet another thousand. Well, eventually you're gonna be
in trouble unless you get lucky. Okay, but that's my favorite.
I pay eight thousand a month, and hell, eight thousand
a month, that's the equivalent of about a ten thousand
square foot crib. Okay. And if she's living in an apartment,
you said, yeah, that's the hell of an apartment I know.
(50:45):
Show Yeah, Well, well, and you wonder why you can't
buy your sandwich? And then when she said can't buy
a sandwich, yeah, I wonder why? And I wouldn't count
on you getting paid even quadruple the money you're making
anytime soon with the with the the way the WNBA
is losing money with their investments.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
The Angel Reese special at McDonald's is the barbecue bacon
quarter pounder with cheese, barbecue sauce, fries, and a drink.
Speaker 12 (51:14):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Yeah, I'm not eating bacon from McDonald's. WNBA's as good
as it's been with a lot of no, I understand
that too. I'm with you, is as good as it's been.
That you're still not gonna get to pay you want
because you're not making enough money as a league. You're
spending more than you're making. Now, let me take her
back to her LSU finance classes. I know they taught
(51:36):
it by low Sell High. Okay, that's a whole object.
Once you learn that object, you'll know. Eight thousand dollars
a month on a seventy five thousand dollars salary after
taxes tells me at the end of the year, unless
you have endorsements, you're probably not gonna be able to
(51:57):
pay those bills. So I suggest that you maybe get
schooled or hire a different financial advisor. Just a hunch,
got a lot to learn, man, good player, but she's
uh and and she she's greatly misled on some things
quite a bit, man. Yeah, she doesn't learned how to
make layups too. Yep, Well she'll she'll. She's a good player,
(52:22):
is she. She looks a little dorky when she runs
up and down the court, but she's she's tall, right,
big girl? Right when I say big, when she about
fus five eleven, five tens something like that, she looks tall,
but I think that she's six three. Oh, so she's
not five? Would I say five eleven six foot? So
she's six three? Well, yeah, so, but Angel Reese is
(52:43):
a really good player. Angel Reese has got a lot
to learn, is she?
Speaker 8 (52:47):
Though?
Speaker 4 (52:48):
Well it wasn't she up for Rookie of the Year. Yeah,
but so is Kaitlyn Clark. I understand. But I mean,
she's not a hack. She's a good she'll hack you,
she'll knock you around, but she's she's a solid player.
But but we're talking We're not even talking about her skills.
We're talking about finances. Yeah, she I wouldn't pay eight
thousand a month if I can't pay it. She averaged
thirteen and thirteen this past season. Well that's not that's
(53:10):
a good player. That's a double double. That's pretty, that'll
get you paid in your league. Just not what sheng
Goon's making in the NBA. Okay, so she probably, I mean,
she decided to speak for everybody.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Lockout, man trivile, you're gonna be able to survive WNBA lockout,
all right.
Speaker 4 (53:28):
I think you'll make it. You'll be okay, think you'll
be okay. Okay, make sure when does your season even start?
I don't know. I don't either. I know that I know,
like I said, it's overall it feels like it's a
better brand of basketball. But listen, when Diana Trossi and
Sue Byrd and Lisa Leslie and that group Cheryl Miller
were all playing, that's two years ago to now. They've
(53:50):
got some great players. They've always had great players. They're
getting more eyes and ears than ever. It's still not
enough for you to tell us you're going to walk out,
because they'll say okay. And Friday, May sixteenth is the
first regular season game in the w NBA. When does
it end? I don't even did I get lost in
their season? I actually thought I thought I kind of
(54:12):
thought it was still going on, but it's so it's snow.
There's like a three on three right, You know what
I get? You get caught up because the the college
basketball season two, you know, for the women and stuff,
kind of the regular season ends September tenth, so May
to September. Okay, there you go, five months. I didn't
(54:32):
even know it was that long. I'm not trying to
no much respect for their game, but you're probably not
in any position to threaten to walk out right now,
just just with the money that they're making. And if
you walk out, guess what somebody else will. They'll put
somebody else in the lineup.
Speaker 13 (54:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:48):
I hate to say it, that's just a fact. Just
what's gonna be the milk all those endorsements you can
to make up for what you're salaries, because it's you're
you're not gonna make the money and you're never gonna
be as a star w NBA star. You're not going
to make as much as a guy sitting on the
end of the bench because of the profits and revenues
the NBA brings in compared to the w n b A.
Those are just economical facts, whether you agree with them
(55:10):
or not. Those are the metrics of it. I think
I'm gonna get me the angel re smel. I'm my
way home. I think you should put some respect on it.
Give me a little barbecue bacon burger. You know what
I'm saying. Yeah, I feel you. McDonald's. I keep barbecue
sell unless it's the Western bacon cheeseburger at Carl's Junior.
Haven't put a lot of barbecue sauce on mine, on
(55:32):
my uh burger from a fast food joint.
Speaker 14 (55:35):
No not.
Speaker 4 (55:36):
There's an onion ring. Yeah, and it says Western Carls Jr.
There's not a lot of barbecue sauce. Now, I'll put
it on that damn that damn what a burger cheesecase?
Id you No, I won't put that, but I'll put
it on that whatter burger. What is that the chicken
strip thing? The chicken strip? Yeah, that's that's that's good.
(55:58):
That's barbecue chcken strip sandwich. That that's better than any
of their burgers over there.
Speaker 8 (56:03):
It is.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
That's rich. In fact, they're Buffalo rans man, that's no doubt.
Speaker 3 (56:08):
All right, let's get the break right here on seven
to eighty. We're the sewn Salisbury show continued, what's that biscuit?
Speaker 4 (56:20):
Hey man?
Speaker 8 (56:21):
They first of all sean oh and five Shawn, you
know what that is? Oh and five? Uh no, hello,
basketball team this weekend in the state finals.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
Oh there you go.
Speaker 8 (56:39):
And five man.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
Wow, that's that's that's tough.
Speaker 15 (56:45):
Yeah it is, Yeah it is.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
Beller had a chance to win it. Beller had a
chance to win it with a three and missed.
Speaker 8 (56:51):
Duncan and Jordan's Jordan, we had close games, but but
Beller and Jordan's. I was talking to one of my
my buddy who was the one the coaches on the scene,
Bedlan and Jordan one of the best teams in the area.
You know, they just pulled off the wins. You know,
so they kind of both for like underdogs and got
to the state championship. So that's one of the reasons why.
(57:13):
But uh yeah on five man here, I think it's
been a minute since the Houston area has won a
state championship in basketball.
Speaker 4 (57:23):
Players.
Speaker 5 (57:24):
Man.
Speaker 8 (57:24):
Yeah, and we got you know, from the Tarboro Cruise
in the nation come out of Houston, so as kind
of a pertry thing. But but anyway, let me ask
you this, man, do you even watch women's basketball.
Speaker 4 (57:37):
I was watching some women's college basketball w NBA.
Speaker 8 (57:40):
Now, oh, you don't want but you watch the college
you don't want to NBA. Well let me see, let
me see this. Ree I get res credit Sean because
she uh, she made herself relevant when she really need
she really she's a good player, but she's not a star.
But how many women at w NBA players have as
at a restaurant.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
She's the first woman, for the first woman basketball player
to get that. Oh, there's there's no doubt. She's brilliant
at That's why I said, keep getting those endorsements, being
the being a voice that's not afraid to take back
when I mean she to take some backlash from it. Oh,
I give her a ton of credit for that. Whether
you like what she says or not, she knows how,
(58:24):
she knows how to put herself on a menu. I
don't remember the last time a female athlete or basketball
player should we say, had her own sandwiches doing national
I mean a lot of them have done national commercials,
but where it's like that's hers. Oh, there's no doubt,
especially this or in the infancy of her career, there's
no question. Give her a ton of credit. She just
a little off the beaten path on the money thing.
(58:46):
When you look at revenue and profits at the w NB,
it's a better brand of basketball. And we love watching
I mean, you love watching these great talented players. But
she's got the threatening to walk out isn't going to
do any good because nobody. There's a lot of people
that won't care.
Speaker 8 (59:00):
Let me let me say this, Shine Reese, don't have
a monopoly on delusion far as young folks with money.
Speaker 4 (59:07):
That's no lie there.
Speaker 8 (59:08):
And we can pull out some comments from some of
the guys.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
It has nothing to do with gender, because there's plenty
of those. There's there, there's a little over zealous and
with all genders. Brother, you ain't lying about that. Yeah,
that's for sure.
Speaker 8 (59:23):
It's kind of more of a generational thing.
Speaker 5 (59:25):
You know.
Speaker 8 (59:26):
They just they did walk to a different beat man.
I got two you know, millennial kids, and I know
you guys should so they you know, they just different,
They think different. You know, it's nothing wrong with that.
I applaud them because they they know how to push
the envelope.
Speaker 4 (59:40):
You know, well, if there's a bunch of different ways
to make money, and if being the voice is one
of them. You can't hate her for that. Uh, you
can't hate her for that. She's get you find a
way to get paid.
Speaker 8 (59:51):
So uh making up to the I got found myself
one time. It's pretty good. I don't know Lima's talking
about it. You don't like the bacon and whatever, man,
And I was pretty this family.
Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
Brian's gonna go get one today.
Speaker 8 (01:00:06):
Barbecue and bacon and cheese. Man, Come on, okay, whatever, man,
it's pretty good. Found fried out my present.
Speaker 4 (01:00:15):
But I holloa at you appreciate appreciate your bisky. Yeah,
that's a bummer. The way that they they took the
old collar. Uh in call it in the state championships. Yeah, offer, yep,
it's all right though it happens. Get back in the lab,
view the tape, make adjustments. You got them getting back
in the lab. You gotta you gotta get back in
(01:00:37):
the lab, Brian. You know what I'm saying that lab, man,
You gotta get back in that lab. You know what
they say about the lab? What do they say? I'm
not real sure what they say. What are they saying?
Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Bro?
Speaker 4 (01:00:45):
I don't know. Maybe just to stay tuned, we'll talk
about it. Figure out you're gonna go find out what
they're saying in the lab. I love it, Yeah, because
you're right now as we speak, you're not really sure
what they're saying in the lab. Or you just say
is they've got teas for you? A little bit of
a tease using people about the lab?
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
Right, let's seem Yeah, I don't google, what do they
say about the lab?
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
Don't do that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
No, you'll just get into some COVID nineteen pandemic and Wuhan.
That's what shows.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
I don't think I'm going to make a vacation visit
to the Wuhan lab.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
First link what to know about the CIA's collusion conclusion
that COVID nineteen came from Wuhan.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
All right, cool. I was just trying to make a
joke and then appreciated googs. Wait to go googs, and
you know what, thanks a little bit of old news
as if we did know that one right, thanks googsk
Is that what're calling Google googs?
Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
Name the athlete Microsoft Pro Sports? Who's got the nickname googs?
Uh something? Googleani close? Isn't it something? So I got
You're you're you're you're on the right path. Michael Googliani
no white hoop player, Rudy Giuliani close, wrong guy, wrong
white guy, Toma Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've talked about that before. Actually,
(01:02:00):
isn't Googleiada in North Carolina Stater?
Speaker 5 (01:02:02):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (01:02:02):
Is that where Googs is from? Is he a North
Carolina state or what does his name? Played? Tom Googliata,
simply known in these parts as Googs white guy, played
for the t Wolves. Yep, solid player. He was in
the A C C. I'm gonna say North Carolina State
for Googs. I might be wrong though, played for the
Bullets as well. Let's see Tom Googleiata, Yeah, played for
(01:02:28):
NC State. He was part of the simply known as
what Googs?
Speaker 5 (01:02:32):
There you go?
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
It's goet an eight o'clock hour man, a wealth of
useless knowledge. We are some kind of frenzy for the
NFL yesterday and even this morning. Let's talk about it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:45):
K Houston K Houston as a rocket.
Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Sports talk your home for your home teams sports.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
The number one pre on your car radio and then
you would improved iHeartRadio act free never sounded so good.
Speaker 9 (01:03:09):
Salisbury Salsbury, Houston.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Okay, let's do this, Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 16 (01:03:19):
To usc truth longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Rockets are hosting the Magic tonight's seven pm tip off.
Six o'clock is when the launch battles start right here
on a seven ninety. Texans bringing back defensive tackle Showdon
Ranketts on a one year deal. He played for Cincinnati
last year.
Speaker 4 (01:03:43):
U Man.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
There have been some massive moves in the NFL. DK
Metcalf traded to the Steelers. That was reported over the
weekend that he was interested in perhaps coming to Houston,
but what he was going to be worth in as
far as trading is a little too much. Plus, he
gets a record or not, excuse me, that's a Josh
Allen gets the record deal with three hundred and thirty
(01:04:05):
million dollars staying with the Buffalo or being extended by
the Buffalo Bills. But DK Metcalf getting a three year
deal worth one hundred and let's see one hundred and
fifty or excuse me, five year deal, five year, one
hundred and fifty million dollars. That equals to a thirty million.
The Seahawks also got a second round draft pick in
(01:04:26):
regards to that trade. I mean you had Josh Allen
signing a big time deal, you had Miles Garrett wanting
out of Cleveland, and then he then he agrees to
a record contract extension that averaged forty million dollars per year,
and it includes one hundred and twenty three and a
(01:04:46):
half million dollars in guaranteed money, making the defensive end
the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history.
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
He's a hell of a player on a bad team
with good talent that still doesn't have a quarterback, and
they haven't had once the Cows came home. Before they
get a quarterback. It takes a while for the Cows
to come home. Bron sure does. But I'll tell you what,
he don't want to be traded now, does he? Forty
(01:05:17):
bill do that? He's pretty damn good too. So what
do you think Parsons is gonna want? Oh, he's gonna
want just as much. Yeah, it absolutely is. So it
they they might want to. Uh, they're gonna have to
get some stuff done because Cleveland offensively with the quarterback,
they're in a bad way. Yes they are. Yeah, it's
(01:05:40):
it's it's pretty Uh, it's pretty interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
You look at some of the things that the Cleveland
Browns have done just because they're so incompetent. They give
all that guaranteed money to Deshaun Watson, essentially blowing blowing
up the quarterback market ceiling. And then you have them
doing this with Miles Garrett.
Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
And Garrett's Garrett's ten times better at his job than
Shaun Watson is at his. How much is Garrett's one
fifty something guaranteed? How much is his one hundred and
hundred and twenty three. So between the two of them,
that's three hundred and forty eight million dollars guaranteed, three
forty eight They're trying to buy a championship, as we
(01:06:24):
I'm joe I joke. But leave that to the Dodgers.
They know how to do that. Oh, we'll keep spending money.
They're not very good. Shaan Watson got two hundred and
thirty thirty guaranteed. I said two twenty five more. Well
it's actually then you said one twenty three and a half.
So it's two forty three or three forty three? Three
(01:06:45):
forty three, three fifty three?
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
What he have?
Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
You said? Two thirty guarantee three and a half, three
hundred and fifty three point five guaranteed money three fifty three,
three hundred and fifty three, and they're they're that far
away from winning a championship as well. But I don't
have problem giving Miles Garrett the money. He's great player.
But how quickly he became a Browns fan again?
Speaker 5 (01:07:08):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:07:08):
Yeah, Hey, I want trade it. I want to trade Oh,
we got this for you. I don't want trade it.
I don't want trade it. I'm good to be I'm
glad to be here. Yeah, forty million, I'm in. You
think we can lose every year? I don't care who
the quarterback is. I'm making forty million year with a
buck twenty three guaranteed and buck twenty three and a
half good on him. The truth of the matter is,
(01:07:29):
I would think that he's still probably frustrated. The offense
just can't get it going now. They can't quarterback wise, No,
they cannot. They're in a world hurt when it comes
to that quarterback position. You also have Davante Adams head
in to the Rams. He gets a two year deal
worth forty six million dollars, twenty six of that guaranteed,
and like I said, Josh Allen reaches a new agreement
(01:07:49):
with the Buffalo Bills six year, three hundred and thirty
million dollar contract. It includes two hundred and fifty million
dollars guaranteed. It's the largest guaranteed ever given to an
NFL player in truth, and Josh Allen, good on him,
deserves it. He's played great football and his last two years,
(01:08:11):
in particular this last year on a roster that wasn't
overloaded with skilled players that are just dominant good players,
but not We're like, oh my gosh, cook, maybe their
best skilled player not named Josh Allen. The guy took
his game to another level. But in truth, considering production,
(01:08:31):
doesn't Mahomes deserve four hundred million guaranteed? In truth? When
you talk about what he's I mean, if he really
went in there and said, listen, enough of this, I'm
tired of seeing this. I want my deal redone, and
here's exactly what I want. How do you not give
it to him? You do give it to him? And
the truth is, considering his championships and the rest of it,
(01:08:54):
he should I'm not saying who you think is better quarterback,
just on production and what he's done is Patrick Mahomes.
Shouldn't he bury the competition when it comes to salary,
no doubt, no doubt, he should put it so far
out of reach it's going to take three years before
somebody gets close.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
Yeah, Josh Allen's getting two hundred fifty million guaranteed. Then
Patrick Mahomes should get three hundred and fifty million.
Speaker 4 (01:09:17):
Mahomes should get every ounce of his contract guaranteed. Yea
one percent guaranteed. Insane money. Considering super Bowls, what he's
brought to Kansasity TV coverage, everything that we talk about
him all the time. Mahomes, in truth, now that's production.
They win and it doesn't matter. They got into another
Super Bowl, and in truth, their offense wasn't that good, right,
(01:09:40):
Patrick Mahomes, he looks at it. If you're him, you
got to be smirking out of side of your mouth saying,
you know, I might have to make a visit upstairs
and say, you know what, now he keeps you know,
I think he's changed, you know, moved around some money,
redone his contract to give him money to go get
other players. But if he really wanted to be a
prick about it and said I want to see my
name at the top of the for a year and
(01:10:00):
then I'll then then I'll exchange my contract. I'll move
it around so we can get more good players and
so we can go in more Super Bowls, so I
can clear up some salary cap space. But just for
one year, I'm going to go prove to you here's
what I want, and they should pay every dime of it.
He's he's making. Uh, let's see, and remember when he
got that contract, everybody's like, wow.
Speaker 3 (01:10:21):
Ten years, four hundred and fifty million dollars one hundred
and forty one point four is guaranteed. Uh, he did
move some money around obviously, Yep. This coming season he's
only going to make sixteen point six, but then it
goes up to forty five and forty five. Obviously, they've
manipulated a lot of different things to help the salary cap.
Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
But if he didn't want to create space and wanted
money and says listen, I'm not coming back unless we
redo this to this point, shouldn't he get it? Yes?
Based on prouching Ye, yes, right, yeah. Put it this way,
he's brought more money into that than they pay him.
And that's a lot of money.
Speaker 5 (01:10:59):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
He's making making a lot of money, but quite frankly,
considering the results, he's underpaid. Yeah. See, in sports terms,
he really is. He's at the most important position and
the toughest position to play in sports. If he really
wanted to blow it out of the water, he could
go and say, listen, here's what I want. I want
five hundred million or six hundred million, and I want
(01:11:21):
it all guaranteed. And you know what, it'd be hard
time arguing. They'd have a hard time arguing it nuts
if he got four to fifty a hand full of
years ago. He's got all these Super Bowl rings since
he moves some money around the way contracts are going. Listen,
if Prescott's worth sixty and production wise, Mahomes is worth ninety.
(01:11:43):
This is insane when you look at some of these numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Josh Allen aav fifty five mil, Joe Burrow fifty five mil,
Trevor Lawrence fifty five mil, Jordan Love fifty five mill,
and then Dak Prescott's at the top at sixty Trevor.
Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
Lawrence in football terms. And I hate to say it
because I know I think a lot of us keep thinking,
when's he going to elevate, When's he gonna elevate? To
the next level of consistency. You want to talk about overpaid, Yeah,
to a tongue of I LOOA fifty three two is
better than Lawrence's. Oh yeah one d per Now go
through that list again, Go through him again.
Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
Dak Prescott at sixty no super Bowls at fifty five
AA V, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Trevor, Lawrence, Jordan Love.
Speaker 4 (01:12:25):
And not one of them has a Super Bowl championship.
Mahomes has three, and he's been to what five or
six just on production alone. Yes, he's worth eighty million,
hundred percent a year. Yeah, and every ounce of it guaranteed. Yeah,
I'm talking about if you said I want five years,
(01:12:46):
what's eighty times five bucks sixty three twenty. That's four
hundred million, four hundred million for the next five years,
and I want it all guaranteed. How do you say no?
You don't. You don't say no? And now Angel Rees
take the Here here's how here's when you can say
if I don't get paid, I'm walking. And guess what
they're gonna do. You're not walking. Yeah, let's sit down.
(01:13:08):
That's as good as wins. Maybe they don't want to start.
Carson Witz not there you go, No, they do not.
Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
All right, all these moves in the NFL yesterday and
this morning, how was it going to affect some of
these star players for the Texans.
Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
That's next, Barrel's his way to the basket.
Speaker 13 (01:13:26):
The window in hey is Jay Shaun back to the
Seawan Salisbury show on Sports Talk seven ninety Black Ship Station.
Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Of your Rockets.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
No, he's the original, yeah, Paul Crew, Yeah, he's Burt
Burt Reynolds. Yeah, there you go ahead there? Who else?
Who is the sheriff? John Jacob Jingle Heiberschmid No, John Wooden?
No that John would It was Jackie Gleason, Okay, yeah,
Jackie Gleason. Close man, same thing. Do you do you
(01:14:01):
know who the female was for Bert No, Sally Field,
Sally Jesse Rafael, Yeah, no doubt her. The fact that
you know her that's Sally Field is boggling. Sally Jesse Raphael.
That's a good one. Let me back up to Smoking
Robinson before you bury the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
You never heard of him William Smokey Robinson Junior born
on February nineteenth, nineteen forty.
Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
You've never heard of him? No, hurts, No, really, the
miracles yeah, hurts man, smoking brings some soul to you know. Yeah,
you don't think you don't think you brings you other
think he brings all the smoke? Do you want all this?
Do you think he wants all the smoke?
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
I would hope with a name like that. Yeah, I
don't know about soul though. That's his generation, man, that's fine.
What's our generation?
Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Well, we're a little different era. But we're here though,
look right here exactly some potaco. We're right, we're tired
man mouse nuts, brother man tight. Did you guys see
the allegations that drew skis under I saw that you
mentioned it, but I did not see the I didn't
I saw you mentioned it. So what do we got?
(01:15:09):
Because this has to do with the.
Speaker 5 (01:15:12):
Ain't no party like a ditty party?
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
So yeah, so, uh, what's his name? Odell Beckham Junior
is listed as a defendant and some ditty stuff. And
then they also, for whatever reason, decided to name Drewski.
You know, drew Ski, Yeah right, sure do m This
(01:15:36):
is straight from the paperwork. Defendant Drewski doused plaintiff with
more oil and lubricant and then jumped on top of plant.
It's naked and oiled body, treating it like a slip
inside and knocking the wind out of Planeton due to
his enormous size.
Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
So basically they're saying, Ki is fat. Yeah? Is it
with a p h? Yes? Or no? Okay, you're you're
the let's pretend like you're the you're the judge, you're
counselor just listen counselor so is it with an app
for a pH? You plead? In the fifth he's with
an F Okay, So he suffocated her or knocked the
(01:16:16):
breath out of.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Her because of him, or it's her Yeah, okay, yeah,
because he decided to treat the plaintiff like a slipping
side with.
Speaker 4 (01:16:25):
All the with all isn't that? Aren't those parties allegedly
like bought baby oil to the degree or Chris baby oil?
All right, so Drewski's part of that? And where does
uh Odell Beckham junior? H did he wear any of
his gloves? So they stick to make a great catch
on what Monday night or stay that football whatever it was?
So where does he come in with this?
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
He's alleged in the same sexual assault, so the the
the details of this are are awful, Okay, but maybe
that's why I don't read him, because it's just sick.
Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
But but but the the fact that this was verbatim
in this.
Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
Is is actually just the way they've used the verbiage
is it's kind of kind of funny, you're.
Speaker 4 (01:17:16):
Laughing at the situation. But for them to say he
oiled her up and used her like a slipping slide,
stuff like you'd say to your buddies, right, Yeah, the
way they do it doesn't feel like they should be
in legal documents. It's obviously verbatim.
Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
Again Again, this whole everything in these these lawsuits awful, heinous, horrible.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
They all have to pay for it too.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
But to say that Drewski used another person like a
slipping slide after oiling them up.
Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
Does it say in there he was fat with an
L for a pH. I've asked you if it was
due to his enormous size, basically saying that he's fat.
And they weren't referring to his his uh, his unit,
They're referring to his body, right.
Speaker 8 (01:18:06):
He uh.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Drewski did release a statement he said the allegation is
a fabricated lie. I wasn't even a public figure in
twenty eighteen, I was broke, living with my mom without
any connections to the entertainment industry at the time of
this allegation, So the inclusion of my name is truly outlandish.
My heart breaks for actual victims of abuse, but I'm
fully confident that the evidence will expo expose this falsehood
(01:18:27):
and the individuals who are maliciously trying to gain the
legal system to pedal false narratives.
Speaker 4 (01:18:32):
So is it somebody who looked like him?
Speaker 5 (01:18:35):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:18:36):
It was fat Yeah, Druski wasn't around in twenty eighteen.
He was alive.
Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
No, I know that.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
But I'm saying, like, do you have to be a celebrity?
What if you know celebrity? Do you have to be
a celebrity to get invited to the city party? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:18:47):
Well, just from everything that you've read and that's been written,
it's yeah, it's been nothing but celebs unless you're.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
The so lo ca so alla time. I'm just kind
of playing, like I said, I don't ever, I don't.
They're too heinous to reach, right, It's gross, But let
me ask you, so, why if he's not a celebrity,
wasn't there would somebody if nobody knew him? Why would
somebody just out of the blue make him a defendant
(01:19:13):
of all the names? Let me get this guy. Yeah,
you know the guy who did all those the gifts.
That guy before you knew is famous. You'd see him
in there with this, you know, that smile and the gifts.
Let me what's that guy's name? Oh, let me just
include him? So where does that come from? Just out
of out of the blue? You just you're just kind
of grab bagging. And that's the name he came up with.
(01:19:34):
Oh so, no truth and hopefully okay, maybe he's right.
I'm not putting I, like I said, far be it
from us. I was no party is there for me.
I'm not big enough start to get invited those, nor
would I have gone. But so I guess we just
got to let the justice system do its part. Right. Yeah,
And where does Beckham fall into this?
Speaker 8 (01:19:56):
Why?
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
Why is Drewski getting more love than Beckham? Start out?
Speaker 5 (01:19:59):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
No, no, no, she he's oh, there's a lot of
He's like the main Yeah, main, main defendant.
Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:20:09):
Man, My guess is he's never gonna throw any of
those parties again, right, yeah, odell is Yeah, he's he's
like the main Well obviously Diddy. Everything that is involved
with p Diddy is disgusting. Yeah, he's by all accounts,
(01:20:33):
should sit right where he is for the rest of
his life, right by all accounts.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Yeah, apparently, uh, in this trash, in this, in this complaint,
Odell Beckham Junior is accused of sexual assault and rape
at a Diddy party along with the help from Diddy
Andrew Ski.
Speaker 4 (01:20:58):
Well, that's awful, so terrible stuff. Man, what a buzz
kill for the show. That's fat fault. But I just
I just don't have that wholes It's not fair to
(01:21:19):
put in a blanket statement on everybody, but man alive,
there are some sick folks in that Hollywood stuff. Yeah,
it's a celebrity World's got some sick people, man, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
And yesterday there was so much news coming out of
the NFL with all these moves, the free agencies, the trades,
the rumors about Aaron Rodgers perhaps going to the Steelers
or the Seattle Seahawks, you know, all the everything coming
out of the NFL, and then boom, here's Odell Beckham
Junior NFL news.
Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
But awful, Yeah, that's not that's you know, a guy
who's football career is just that he's pretty much just
another guy.
Speaker 5 (01:21:56):
He's just a guy now.
Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
But it's winding up, and it's the football career means
nothing when it compared to this nonsense. So it's awful stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:22:06):
Yeah, man, not good, not good at all. Continue our
talk about the NFL. How do how do these big
time deals? I got's say Miles Garrett for instance, what
does that mean for Will Anderson Junior when his contract
is ready to be extended by the Texans?
Speaker 4 (01:22:19):

about Tina, but she's dead.
Speaker 8 (01:25:18):
R I P.
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
Yeah, right, but you said smoky these nuts, smoke on

Speaker 4 (01:25:29):

Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
I'd rather play I'd rather play legend. I'd rather play
golf with Duncan Robinson, basic white guy played in Michigan. Yeah,
hoop hoop player, yeah, hoop player. Yeah, I'd rather play
golf with the Admiral David Robinson. He's a legend, is exactly.
Smoking Robin Ain't got nothing on any of those dudes.
Longevity true, he was born in forty Yeah, legend.
Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
Man, I think there'd be some people motown and the
rest of it would beg to differ from me with you.
Oh yeah, yeah, there's people listening to this right now
that there's some turned over in their grave in summer,
all right, driving out saying he doesn't know Smoky Robinson is. No,
I know who he is? No, you don't, now you
do do?
Speaker 13 (01:26:11):
Now?
Speaker 8 (01:26:11):
You were?
Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Well, you were, We got some knowledge dropped on you.
We taught you had two years in one mouth and
used in courting. And then Tina came on.
Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
Ye man, yeah, absolutely it's doctor Brandow. What's up, Brandon?
Speaker 8 (01:26:28):
Sorry, guys, I mastered you guys on Friday.
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
We noticed unbelievable cut us deep a little bit though,
fans were hurt, ruined our weekend, but everything was great.
Appreciate you, buddy. Thanks for screwing it up for us.
Now we're kidding, no problem, man, You probably deserve the time.
Were you just sleeping in a little bit maybe or
the audio rodeo stuff and you're you're so you're entwined
(01:26:52):
in that rodeo. I love it. Committed. Good for you, man,
How you doing.
Speaker 8 (01:26:56):
I'm all right, it's great.
Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
Is the struggle real?
Speaker 8 (01:27:04):
We work on Friday?
Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
Okay, we did to buddy, we have on Friday morning. Yeah,
you're committed to excellence though. I love that. All right,
good talk, Brandon. We're gonna you know what, what's on
what's on your mind? You already got gone, man. You
(01:27:27):
you put no patience on today. Man, too much, too much,
too many pauses right there. You gotta come ready, gotta
come ready to discuss something. Mmmmm, man, you just you
you really you? You sent a loud message to Brando
right there? Bring it or don't I think your feelings
are a little hurt. He calls Friday. Your feelings a
little hurt. That's the way you're good. That's your revenge.
(01:27:53):
So Brando doesn't call Friday. And we noticed, a matter
of fact, even talked about it. Was Brando today. Figured
he was We figured he was probably working in rodeo
and doing a lot of work, and you simply simply
paid him back. That's right. Your feelings were hurt. Weren't
they correct you at all? So your feelings hurt a
little bit? Are your feelings hurt a little bit? Yeah? Man,
(01:28:16):
you can admit it. That takes a grown man to
make your feelings were deep in your soul worth vulnerable? Yeah,
you a little vulnerable? Yeah, hanging there. I got you. Thanks,
I appreciate that. Yeah, man, are you all right?
Speaker 5 (01:28:26):
Brand No?
Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
I mean the feelings hurt, you know? Wow?
Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
Also, man, we got a we got a big announcement
coming up office today tomorrow one of these days.
Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
Well, who does were in your body? I don't know.
Speaker 15 (01:28:40):
I don't know when we should married? No, you're pregnant. No, no,

Speaker 17 (01:28:46):
Ye?
Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
Yeah, I don't I don't know when I should shore tomorrow?
Speaker 17 (01:28:49):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:28:49):
No, no, no, No, that's nothing. There's no problem. A
little transition. No, that was two years ago. But you're
not gay. No, I'm not gay. There's nothing wrong with it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
I just wanted to know you decided this is the
place it feels good to say gay on the radio, though,
doesn't it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:01):
It's not a bad word. I know it's not. I'm
just saying you're asking. I mean sometimes people need some clearance, clarance. No,
what it is, it is. It is significant. It's very significant.
I see.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Okay, Yeah, well I mean no, but I mean yes,
I think I know what it is. Yeah, because tomorrow
you and I are I think you should do it
right now. You want me to do it right now,
right now? You really want me to do it right now?
Speaker 4 (01:29:24):
I think you should right now. Wish right now? I
actually think you should right now. That's if not, you're
a bitch. Okay, well then I have to I hate
this too, man. So you're gonna go from laughing to
no emotion. Yeah, well you call it. I can't. I'm
gonna be the godparent. Don't worry. I got your cot.
I'll be your midwife. I know that pregnancy is gonna
(01:29:46):
hurt you. Yeah, No, what you got for us.
Speaker 3 (01:29:48):
But this Thursday, March thirteenth is gonna be my last
day here. It's four stock seven ninety and it sucks,
it does. I've known this for a minute. Yeah, March thirteenth,
this Thursday, last day. Yeah, parting ways sucks? Really does?
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
I mean the fact that you hate do you do?
You just hate triple.
Speaker 5 (01:30:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
That sucks, it does.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
So, Uh, you know what we'll do, like we always do,
We'll rock it all week and then uh you know,
we'll announce it again on Wednesday. Maybe get some callers
call in Wednesday, Thursday or all week either way.
Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
Where are you? What are you gonna do for for
for life? Yeah? What's next? Why are Yeah? I might
know the answer. I'm trying to you. I'm trying to
get people.
Speaker 3 (01:30:29):
I'm gonna be going back to back to oiland gas
man and coach, to be quite quite.
Speaker 4 (01:30:36):
Honestly, I want this show is based on transparency. Transparency, Yeah,
don't leave them guessing. Yeah, you deserve to tell them.
Why salaries one of them? You know, there's uh, it's
hard to hard to live right now. It's no absolutely
not last time you ever had. Yeah, no doubt, man.
(01:30:57):
So I'm still here for a couple of days. You
love us, I do.
Speaker 5 (01:31:00):
I do love you, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
I love the job, and there's other things in life
that you need to be successful, and it's just not
working out right now.
Speaker 4 (01:31:07):
So the show's working out right. We've made this the
best ship go around, the best partner I ever had. Yeah,
I appreciate that, and it's not and it's not, in question,
the best I ever had. I want to tell you
that I've known this for for a minute, best I
ever had. Yeah, and uh, it's been great to say
you've You've rejuvenated me. I hate to see you go.
It's the worst first case I've had in a long time. Yeah,
(01:31:28):
I don't Uh, I don't like it. But you've got it.
You have to be it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
You have to make an adult decision. Sometimes you come
to a crossroads and unfortunately you have to Uh, you
have to do what's best. Not unfortunate, but you have
to do what's best for you. You got to pay bills,
but I have to pay bills.
Speaker 4 (01:31:39):
You literally do. Yeah, like Angel rees, well, I files
and if files involved, I paid you.
Speaker 5 (01:31:45):
A lot more. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
I appreciate that. So yeah, let's let's do what show
will suffer because of you, but we're going to continue
to Yeah, grind, you're not going anywhere, going anywhere, But
we hate it because it's never been better with this threesome.
I appreciate it, you know what. And uh, obviously you
Sean and Tripoli and then Ryan before Tripley. We've had
some really, really really good producers here. So it's nothing
(01:32:10):
nothing about you guys.
Speaker 8 (01:32:12):
I know that.
Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I know the easing.
Speaker 5 (01:32:15):
It sucks.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
I hate to do it. I hate to see it
because it's uh, it's been really easy to come to
work every morning. Yeah it is.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
And I appreciate you guys, and I mean everybody here
at seven ninety. But again, you come to a crossroads
in your life and you got to make an adult decision.
Speaker 4 (01:32:33):
Man, it's rare that you run across somebody as long
as I've been in it that at this point in
your career you're like, I think I'm I'm going to
wind down a little bit. Yeah, I'm nowhere near one now. Yeah,
And a lot of that has to do on this
show and at this time slot because you it was rejuvenation.
I mean, it's backwards. Some people are fired up to
(01:32:53):
get in. It's been great for me because I needed
I needed a shot of red and you were a
full case.
Speaker 5 (01:33:01):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
I hate to see it happen. Yeah, it sucks, and
there's the show. It'll be good. It'll be good. It'll
be different because there's the laughs and joy we had.
You made my career. This is what you're supposed to mean.
What a blessing it's been to have you with me.
Speaker 8 (01:33:13):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
Yeah, there was a great hire by us and by
me to go get I don't mean that pat on
the back.
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
No, but yeah, you gave me the opportunity. We did
two fill in shows and then it just took off
from there.
Speaker 4 (01:33:23):
It was it was obvious to see what you brought
to the table. And no matter what you know, when
you're able to get back into it after it is
a fact. I mean, you can't do you can't you
no compete, can't do it. And you're going to that's
part of corporate America. But in January, yeah, you know
where you know, you know where the seat is.
Speaker 3 (01:33:44):
Yeah, no, exactly right, go there you go. All right,
let's get to break seven one, three, seven nine. You'll
get out to the phone lines next.
Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
Let's go, this is this Sean Salisbury show.
Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
I'm taking a vacation next week, just so you know,
because of you, pull on week off. Because of you,
I'm taking a vacation. I haven't put that in yet,
but guess what I just did. Yeah you go, what's
let's see Fridays in fifteenth sixty, so that's the seventeen. Yeah,
I think I'm taking next week off. Yeah, cut me
deep man a little bit. Love you, brother, but I'm
gonna let you you do. You deserve all these flowers
(01:34:18):
you're gonna get. And but thanks for the press that
I appreciate. You me have to search far and wide
to find somebody who's may wear a size seven instead
of a size thirteen. Yeah, man, there you go. That sucks.
You've been You've been a gold mine for us, brother,
Thank you appreciate. Let's get out to the phone lines
on the friendship and family is more important than Yeah
there that's yeah, well well that'll never change. Felipe. What's
(01:34:39):
happening morning, gentlemen?
Speaker 8 (01:34:41):
Uh?
Speaker 18 (01:34:42):
Yeah, son, you're right, you're gonna have a lot of
big shoes to fill over there in that other seat.
Speaker 4 (01:34:48):
Yeah, we have the perfect that we had the perfect chemistry. Brother,
You're right, yes, for sure.
Speaker 19 (01:34:53):
Because you know, Brian, I'll like you know, I've been
I've been avid a listener of seven ninety for the
past year and a half now when I actually started
getting into more radio listen to the radio stuff.
Speaker 18 (01:35:03):
And uh and Your Your Your Guys show was like
the first one I've listened to, and I've dedicated to
listen to every morning.
Speaker 5 (01:35:08):
I listen to it all day at work, all the time.
Speaker 18 (01:35:10):
So, uh, to hear the news, it's pretty heartbreaking because
you know, like you said, Sean, it's like a family.
You know, you get to we get to know you guys,
not from the radio side, but also like your personalities
as you talk. So to hear Brian just say, hey,
you know it's last Day's Thursday.
Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
Man, it hurts, you know. It's it's like you're losing
a not a friend.
Speaker 4 (01:35:26):
It's not.
Speaker 18 (01:35:27):
It's just like you're not gonna be able to see
him no more for as much as you we have now,
you know, five days a week.
Speaker 4 (01:35:32):
Yeah, you're right, and he deserves all you You're losing
a friend. You're not losing he's not going where, but
you're losing him out here every day because he feels
like he's in your he's he's your he's your buddy,
sitting in his place with you. I felt like that
for three years. It sucks.
Speaker 18 (01:35:43):
Yeah, yeah, so, uh you know the worst thing is
we're not gonna have nobody to get to try to
catch with.
Speaker 20 (01:35:48):
You know, these nuts playing anymore. So, uh, you know
it sucks, man, Brian. You know, we we understand and
uh you know, no one's holding anything against you. We
love you, and uh you know you got to do
whatever's best for you, and we we can't. We can't
thank you enough for being on these radio ways for
you know, for the past three years. You know, like
I said, I've been listening for you and a half.
(01:36:09):
So I thank you for all that you've done, man,
but one of the best, one of the best to
do it.
Speaker 5 (01:36:14):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
Appreciate that, man, Thank you. Oh hell, I'm holding you
account of you idiot. Yeah, let's real quick before a

Speaker 4 (01:36:36):

Speaker 6 (01:36:38):

Speaker 12 (01:36:39):
Yeah, I mean he's like, and uh, I know you're
intimidated by technology and all that.
Speaker 6 (01:36:44):
You need low tech job maybe, but you know, but
that's the way it goes.
Speaker 5 (01:36:49):
And uh, anyway, No, I wish you the best, Brian.
Speaker 3 (01:36:52):
I really do appreciate that, John. Yeah, Hey, look I'll
do it for I'll do it for Shooter.
Speaker 17 (01:36:57):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:36:58):
It's all the dogs.
Speaker 8 (01:37:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:37:01):
So, so I hear Force Whitley's looking pretty good. They're
thinking that he's gonna have a bullpen slot and then
I hurt a trade rumor for the Astlers or they're
going to try to get White White Sox slugger Luis Robert,
Lewis Robert Jr. And the Ashers would be giving up
Zach Decenzo, Anderson Brito, right handed pitcher, outfielder Kevin Alvarez,
(01:37:25):
and outfielder Lewis Bayaz.
Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
Would you do that well? Appreciate it, John, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:37:32):
Forest Whitley so far this spring four innings, one hit,
one run, four walks, four strikeouts.
Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
He's pitched pretty well. So yeah, yeah, that's what they're saying.
Speaker 8 (01:37:41):
They think he might get in, he might get in
the bullpen.
Speaker 4 (01:37:43):
Yeah, so yeah, appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (01:37:45):
John.
Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
We'll discuss that. Luis Robert at the top of the hour.
Thanks John, I actually before you go to break, I
actually that name has been brought up here for two
years now, two years now.

up the number.
Speaker 4 (01:39:28):
One, get rid of us.
Speaker 16 (01:39:30):
Let me rephrase it. Stop that there before you drop
my call. Get rid of the TV on the afternoon show, Sup,
the salaries of the afternoon Show. Because one of them
don't know what the hell he's talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:39:46):
He's so crazy.
Speaker 16 (01:39:46):
He hates every player that don't play for Houston. Then
give you his salary, because I'm gonna tell you now.
And Sean, you know this. You better find somebody with
some thick ass skin to sit in that chair, because Tottenham, Yes,
I do you get you get a cry baby in there?
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
Man, Well, here's what I can Here's here's what I
can tell you. John, it ain't gonna happen. And Brian
can answer it from there on whatever else you got
to ask him. One, there will be no cry baby
here too. He will have thick skin.
Speaker 17 (01:40:17):
Three.
Speaker 4 (01:40:17):
If he doesn't, he'll never sit in the chair. Well,
I'll just be talking to dead air. I'll just be
talking to an empty chair, and he'll he'll uh, but
I can just tell you that you're not going to
replace him. That's the bottom line, Ran. It's been falling.
Speaker 16 (01:40:31):
It really has, man, serious, now it has, man, I
mean been.
Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
You know, I've been.
Speaker 16 (01:40:36):
I've known you for about two and a half years,
or right after you joined Sean, But it has.
Speaker 7 (01:40:41):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:40:42):
I wish you well and wish you best, and I
will talk to you before you leave again.
Speaker 5 (01:40:45):
But let's get to this.
Speaker 8 (01:40:46):
Uh yeah, let's get to these salaries real quick.
Speaker 6 (01:40:50):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:40:51):
I'm glad I gave up tickets and everything because there
ain't no way in hell I'll be paying these highest
tickets anymore for these quarterbacks and these players, I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:40:58):
Miles Garrett brother.
Speaker 6 (01:41:01):
And I'd sell out too.
Speaker 16 (01:41:02):
I want traded. I want to be traded. Money will
make you stay and play for a crappy organization, won't it.
Hell I stayed too, Man, I can go get a
ring down the road. Give me what he's ound a
four six year extension?
Speaker 14 (01:41:16):
What was it?
Speaker 8 (01:41:17):
Four?
Speaker 4 (01:41:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (01:41:19):
Yeah, stay there for four more years. Get your four
hundred million whatever it was. But yeah, money, and I'll

y'all have a great week. I'm headed home, got things
to do. I got to check on some cruise while
I'm driving, Bron, I will definitely talk to you before
(01:41:42):

Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
Appreciate you John as always, Man, thank you. That's as
I got. John.
Speaker 13 (01:41:48):
And you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
I know John has his opinion, but I love Adam
and Adam down in the afternoon show, straight bullets towards that. Man,
I draw a whole line up Matt Ross, Adam and
Adam and then of course you guys. I think Adam
and Adam do a great job with the with the
A Team, especially on TV. That's a good product, man,
it really is. If you haven't watched it, make sure
you tune in. Absolutely make sure you tune in because
the A Team they do a hell of a job,
(01:42:10):
just like Matt and Ross.
Speaker 4 (01:42:11):
Doctor Roger. What's up Roger?
Speaker 6 (01:42:14):
Good morning?
Speaker 13 (01:42:15):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
Man, Amen, you can't like that.
Speaker 17 (01:42:20):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
I gotta grow up, I know, man, I gotta grow up,
gotta gotta be an adult. Unfortunately.
Speaker 6 (01:42:27):
Yeah, I hear you, bro, I hear you.
Speaker 13 (01:42:28):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:42:29):
I'm We're gonna miss you. Uh yeah, I just uh charge,
you have some work to do.
Speaker 8 (01:42:38):
My brother.
Speaker 5 (01:42:41):
Brother.
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
I got a lot, I got a ton of work
to do, and the last thing I wanted was to
have to go make it the biggest work of trying
to replace him. Yeah, that ain't gonna be easy, brother,
a matter of fact, it's not gonna happen. But I'm
gonna I'm gonna try to get somebody in there who
can keep it at least warm. Right, Yeah, that's a
big He's been the best brother. We just tune in
in January.
Speaker 6 (01:43:02):
You gonna make some make some guess appearances.
Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
Man, Oh I will. There's no doubt, man to guarantee you. Yeah,
it sucks, man, Roger. You're right, I got a lot
of work to do to replace him. Man, that's not
gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (01:43:13):
That's a good guy. Man starts to the guy that's
tough to find.
Speaker 22 (01:43:16):
Man, So good luck to you. But uh, you know,
we're always gonna be here, Brian. You maybe smile, maybe
think about things, you maybe do everything that he's supposed
to do. Man, suppose you're a good gall on the radio,
and I'm pretty sure you're one hundred percent of you know.
Speaker 6 (01:43:31):
I'm off the radio.
Speaker 22 (01:43:32):
So well that said, I I just want to ask
more sports question is is this more coach talk coach
meek from.
Speaker 6 (01:43:40):
Joey Spotta talk.
Speaker 22 (01:43:41):
Everybody's gonna give camps make every opportunity to make that
opening day roster.
Speaker 6 (01:43:46):
I kind of think it's setting stone.
Speaker 10 (01:43:48):
He's gonna have to.
Speaker 6 (01:43:48):
Prove himself in in the minors, just like everybody else did.
Speaker 22 (01:43:53):
And I just feel like it's a shame because we
don't have an all star lineup this year.
Speaker 6 (01:43:57):
I think there's holes to be filled and helm very easily.
And that's all I got, Fellas, I have a good Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:44:04):
Appreciate you, Roger, Thank you for the words. Man Again,
I'm here till Thursday. Yeah, that's not enough, but I
get it. You know how much you know I feel
about you. But yeah, man, yeah, man, Joe's spotty. You
think that's coach speak. I think giving him a chance
to compete is not coach speaking. They've done that. But
(01:44:25):
the next question is give him a chance to compete
is one thing, But will it be enough to give
him a chance to stay as a young player. I
do just give him every opportunity. Man, Well he's I
can tell you this. If you give him a chance
to compete for a starting job, spring training. He's earned
it so far, there is no doubt about that. Hey,
(01:44:45):
is Twitter down what we got going on here? X? Yeah,
I think it is. If you blew up the Internet
with your housepit, dude, Look what happened? Look what happened
on man?
Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
You know, I usually see a lot of breaking news
over here. Unbelievable man, Jordan Schultz, he's been all over
it for the NFL this morning, talking about Sheldon Rankings
and the Texans, talking about who is this free agent
offensive tackle Dan Moore junior? Twenty million a year could
be possibility?
Speaker 4 (01:45:19):
People getting pizzayed, right, a lot of.
Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
Money and free agency period doesn't even start until noon
today actually eleven am noon Eastern, so we still got.
Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
Plenty to come. Yeah, it's gonna be busy this week.
Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
Yeah, two more hours and a little less than two
hours and then the free agency period starts. So we'll
have a lot of football to talk about this week
along with smash ros baseball. Hopefully camp Smith you know,
continues to swing it. Well, he's gonna be starting today
to twelve oh seven first pitch. You can be tuned in,
can be watching?
Speaker 23 (01:45:51):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (01:45:52):
What time?
Speaker 4 (01:45:53):
Twelve oh seven? First pitch? I probably won't see much
of the game today, but I will. I will obviously
if the guy rakes, we'll find out about it. I don't.
I got too much to do at twelve o'clock today,
get ready for some other stuff I gotta do this afternoon,
So no, I probably won't see the game. Now you
got cam Smith starting in third base playing the blue Jays.
(01:46:18):
That's the you know, have you ever seen a blue
jay in person?
Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
Beautiful birds? It's a beautiful bird. Blummer, it's blue. Hence
the day the name triple? Is your Twitter down?
Speaker 4 (01:46:30):
Yes? Yes, I was sitting here trying to refresh and
it's not getting refreshed. Man, Elon will be doing big Dog?
Will we be doing?
Speaker 3 (01:46:37):
Quit doge and stuff? And get this damn app You're
blaming it on Elon right down? Believable man, Hey, come on, sir,
I can't see nothing. I can't see anything either. Man
was going on with starlink? Can we get some starlink coverage?
Speaker 4 (01:46:50):
Law man? Love what they love? Something?
Speaker 8 (01:46:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:46:55):
Every time I it just says try reloading. Yah, won't you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
Load these loads? Seven five seven ninety is the number
to join. Will continue to take your calls? Will camp
Smith get a shot to make the opening day roster,
not at third base, but in the outfield.
Speaker 4 (01:47:11):
What does that mean next?
Speaker 1 (01:47:13):
Welcome to the Sewn Soundsbury Show.
Speaker 13 (01:47:18):
I like you.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
Back to Sean Salisbury and Brian Ludlima on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (01:47:31):
I mean it's it's it's a regularly scheduled injury every
year in March. He gets quote unquote hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:47:36):
Well, the chances are with Lebron out, Yeah, there could
be a downfall that that's pretty logical. You lose your
best player. I didn't say best score, your best player. Yeah,
there's a good chance that you could actually lose a
few games here you So, yes, I would agree that
the Lakers could lose some games. And I don't know
(01:47:56):
about a downfall, but if he misses two weeks, that's
a lot of basketball and they could miss out on
what are they have? The two seed right now? They're
the two seed right now. Yeah, they could. They could
miss out on a slider or two without Lebron on
the court, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
Do you remember last week when we played the Charles
Barkley audio about how they he said they only talk
about the Lakers and Lebron.
Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
He's right right on the go. I'll concern to you
about a Lakers downfall here, you frigging dude, get a
rest man.
Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
Seven one three two one two five seven nineties. The
number to join willis what's happening?
Speaker 17 (01:48:26):
What's going on on Sean? Yeah, I was listening listening
this morning, man, and I'm final out that you're leaving.
Speaker 4 (01:48:32):
Brian.
Speaker 17 (01:48:33):
I want just want to say something real quick for
a few minutes. There are times I can't call the
show based on my skidar and everything. He living out
in Virginia, But Sean knows how much I think of him.
And when Sean speaks highly of somebody, that tells me
a whole lot about you as a human being and
as a person. And this your that that show, that
show I listened to, I looten to pretty regularly. That's
the number one show that I listened to out of
(01:48:54):
all the shows that do follow and so forth. So,
But Brian, you're You're a tremendous You're a great human being.
I wish you the very very best. I'm following you
on X now and uh, no matter where you go
or what you do, I knew you're going to be successful.
And this won't be the last time that I'll speak
to you at some point.
Speaker 5 (01:49:13):
I'm sure.
Speaker 17 (01:49:14):
I just want to wish you well, my friend, and
take care of yourself. Keep being you, and we'll talk
to you at some point. Sean keeps doing what.
Speaker 4 (01:49:22):
I really love you too, brother, And you're all right
about him quality on the air and even better off it,
which is saying something appreciate that willis Mendos are words
I don't take lightly. Man, he's the greatest human being,
he said, coming from me, but also come from him.
He he's he's as good as it. Yeah, he finally
was able to call last week, first time in a while. Man,
he's here. Well, he spends so much time supporting people
(01:49:45):
around and just everything that he does. You'll be hard
pressed to find anybody across the country better. So I
need to I need to find him on on Twitter
comes the worst. Twitter's great, great dude.
Speaker 3 (01:49:56):
You know, maybe maybe on Thursday, Sean, since it's my
last day here at seven, I maybe you'll maybe you'll
accept my friend requests on Facebook.
Speaker 4 (01:50:02):
It's only been pending for three years. I actually have
to go look at Facebook requests. Can you believe that? Triply?
I feel like it's got a little racism to it.
It is, especially now that you're leaving me. I hate
you more than I if I loved Whitey. I hate
him now thanks to you. Listen, listen, Whitey. I actually
(01:50:24):
in order to accept a friend request, you know what,
I gotta do it. I can only imagine that. You
know what, that's fair? Yeah, that's fine. So I'm gonna
I'm gonna accept your friend request a week to be
tied on Facebook. Yeah, you're leaving me. Yeah, well you're
not really leaving me the chair. Yeah, a friend, I
mean the rest will take care. Like I said in January,
(01:50:44):
there's another place you can come join me. Oh I know. Hey,
great to have you though, but great great shows last week.
By the way, So, by the way, you really want
to talk about Facebook? Okay, I'm gonna go look at
my check it out. It's like three years pending. Its
sitting down. It's down there. He'll be there, man, look on,
(01:51:05):
bok right here, hold on, we find it. Let me look.
I think I still have it up there. Salsbury. Yeah,
there is five mutual friends. Would you say it's you know,
I hate Whitey?
Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
Oh no, actually, I'm just kidding. I removed the friend
request since you never did it. Whoa dude, you're friends
with Cliff Saunders, Robberies Clinton, They can all.
Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
Get they were they were, That was all there long
before you. I just sent you another request. Thank you.
Speaker 17 (01:51:28):
Up.
Speaker 4 (01:51:32):
The guy runs out on a triple and now he
wants a fred with I am going to look it
up and I'm gonna accept it.
Speaker 8 (01:51:37):
I got it.
Speaker 4 (01:51:38):
I gotta be more committed to that.
Speaker 5 (01:51:39):
Look.
Speaker 4 (01:51:39):
Look, dude, it's my bad. That's why. So you know
the guy who throws a past it goes like fourteen
feet over the dude, say no kidding? You think man?
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
It says studied broadcast journal as at University of Sala,
Southern California, but also recruited by Soul Ross State.
Speaker 4 (01:51:54):
Wow, really bad he got that in your bio. Well
recruited by but the Soul Russ they were enough away.
Speaker 3 (01:52:04):
I don't need those. Let's get back out to the
phone lines. Talk to Ronnie. What's up Ronnie?
Speaker 21 (01:52:09):
Hey, good morning guys. Sorry to hear about the news, Brian.
Although there's times when I've picked on you a little
bit because I'm sometimes amazed at the things that you
have to look up and don't automatically know, but your
You Guys show is the most informative show on the radio.
I don't listen to any of the other stuff on
(01:52:30):
seven ninety because I can't stand all of the garbage
that's on sometimes, but I know what to do. I
just have to turn radio off if I don't want
to hear it. But I'm going to miss you, miss
you guy, and Sean, I don't know if you've got
a replacement for this guy. I don't know how you
replace him, but maybe you ought to recruit some of
the ladies who call in and hire one of them
(01:52:52):
as your co host. That would be on the cutting
edge of you know what to do?
Speaker 4 (01:52:57):
You know that's a good idea. I'm gonna look into
all all of them. I'm gonna it's gonna take a
long feig and wide search. Brother, I'm telling you honestly,
and I respect your Yeah, I know you're half hardly king,
but our callers are pretty informative, man. And then we
got some some phenomenal females that call into this show too.
Very smart.
Speaker 21 (01:53:15):
Yeah, yeah, well smarter than a lot of the guys
that call it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:19):
That's a fact.
Speaker 21 (01:53:22):
And I've got one complaint it's just and I've had
a complaint for years. I don't like any of these
darn conference tournaments. Why can't the regular seasons stand on
its own merit. I'm just so afraid that the Cougars
are going to get somebody hurt in the tournament and
(01:53:43):
you know, lose, like what the guy from Cincinnati years ago,
Kelvin Martin, broke his leg and you know, they they
had a great chance to have a great run, and
that was.
Speaker 4 (01:53:53):
During Huggy Bears term Bob Huggins was the head coach.
Speaker 21 (01:53:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, And so I just you know,
I almost wish that Dan from wouldn't play anybody in
this tournament, just either forfeit the games or play all
of the kids that he doesn't get to play very much,
just to save the regular guys so that they can
make Because I have a feeling that they have a
(01:54:17):
real shot at winning the whole thing this year, and
I'd love to see it.
Speaker 4 (01:54:21):
Yeah, Ronnie, I think they can win the whole thing too.
Thanks for the call, brother, appreciate you. Thanks, you got it.
I get what he's saying. Just regular season to go
right to the tournament, right, they take a week off
and go right to the tournament. I get it because
the truth is, you could play bad basketball, be average,
and if you got it now, it doesn't usually happen.
You could get on a run and be like the
eighth team in the conference with no shot at the tournament,
(01:54:43):
and go on a run and something happens and you
make the tournament or somebody gets hurt. You don't want
that one thing, I know, in order to preserve their
number one. See Kelvin's playing his guys. I mean, I
get what Ronnie's concern is because injuries have befell them
a little bit in the tournament these last you know
what I'm saying of star players before the tournament started.
My point, and in the tournament a hammy or whatever
it is. I get why he is that concerns him,
(01:55:05):
because I do too. I think in watching Auburn and
Alabama and the SEC and the rest of the teams
that are the top ten, top fifteen teams in the country,
Houston's Guy's good.
Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
A chance to anybody win the whole thing? I think so, man,
especially with that defense grade. Here's our guy, Phil, Phil,
you in the office this morning.
Speaker 14 (01:55:21):
You better believe I am already explained it to my nephew,
Trip Leader that I had to be kind of brief
and talk a little low. But like I was telling him, man,
he's my nephew because he's the baby you guys and
my brothers. I think I might be the older brother
because I'm a little older than Shan. But anyway, man,
we definitely miss I'm gonna still listen to the show
(01:55:43):
and maybe one day Sean and say, well, you know,
he has a baseball game with his with his select
team in Mireland or in Poland, and I'm gonna come
and see you. But th anybody is, Man, I'm gonna
definitely miss you.
Speaker 4 (01:55:58):
And here's the deal.
Speaker 14 (01:55:59):
Who ever Sawan picks to be there, I'm gonna probably
get to like him, but at first I'm not gonna
like it at all. Yeah, he's not He's not gonna
be my brother like you are. But and I do
consider that I listen every morning. I might not I
might not call a lot, but I listen every morning,
(01:56:20):
and you guys get my day started and keeping going. Hey,
it's dark as heck this morning when I was on
my way to work with him. To you guys again,
I'm saying, wait, it's really five thirty. But anyway, take
care of man, get rich.
Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
To you soon. Appreciate you, Phil, Thank you for the words. Man,
sark guy, And he's right about a lot of things.
One is he better still listen? I'm still hearing you
Cloud better listen here. Damn right, triple G and I
are triple G. That's right, Triple G or whatever you prefer,
not going anywhere, but yeah, I'm with him. You're not
gonna like the guy at first. And I look, if
(01:56:52):
I got other things, don't have to replace your man sucks, man,
it does suck. Does suck?
Speaker 8 (01:56:57):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:56:58):
Hey, but I'm here till Thursday. Boys, let's go. Yeah,
we're here. Don't worry. We're not going anywhere till Thursday.
You're not going, so just shut it all down. So
next week was like, uh, why do you think I'm
taking vacation. They're just gonna be different, man, you think
be different? We don't have we talk about things hitting different.
(01:57:22):
Come on, man, of course is gonna hit different. Yeah,
it's gonna be weird.
Speaker 8 (01:57:25):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
You know, I get that stare when I'm pissed, you know,
in those eyes. I to whoever since in your chair
is gonna get it for about a year. And you
know what, this is what you do for all time sake.
Week two of the new guy, whoever it is, load
on him, just rip his ass to shreds during a
commercial break. Yeah, just so, that is one of my
favorite stories. I didn't even what do you mean, I
(01:57:47):
didn't wait a week. It was like two days in.
During the commercial break, it was like, I'm gonna make
sure they sell the morning I've said, I'm said the
culture early. Oh yeah, even if he doesn't deserve it,
I get a tuggle.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
It was it was literally like the it was we
were five days in. It was literally Monday of week two,
triple You never told you this story. Oh my gosh.
So there was a producer here prior to Ryan, and
uh during you know how we do our prep right,
I send in our topics and we discuss it, and
there were some things going on where this person wasn't responding,
(01:58:22):
like for.
Speaker 4 (01:58:22):
A week straight. It mean he sucked yeah pretty much, and.
Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
Then uh, something happened that Monday morning at six o'clock
like he wasn't prepared anyway. It's set Sean off, right,
So Sean puts the talk back button. And just loses
his mind on this guy, right, loses his mind rightfully so,
rightfully so one hundred percent. Then he looks at me
and he goes, yes.
Speaker 4 (01:58:46):
It was very good. I told you I worked in
silence the doors.
Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
And then he goes, after ripping his ass, he looks
at me and he goes, and that means you too,
Like what did I do?
Speaker 4 (01:58:59):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
And then like you're association, So he starts he continues
on his rant. He's yelling at me, right. But then
and I knew what was going on, right, I knew
it was. I knew it was because of the other situation.
But I was just taking a straight bullet right, Like
ten minutes go by and he goes, hey, he goes,
you know if that wasn't towards you, right, And I
was like, oh, yeah, I know. I like I'm good.
I said, Sean, this is week two for me. I
(01:59:20):
promise you, I'm gonna do everything in my power to
put you in the best position to give us all
your knowledge, and I'm gonna do my job.
Speaker 5 (01:59:26):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:59:26):
It's so funny to look back on that was and
we've laughed and I haven't had a problem since. But
we didn't have a problem then. But it was like mother,
It's like it was like right right out of him,
Like how did I get that? I don't know, you're
sitting there. I gotta yell at somebody. Oh man, yeah,
that was that was good times.
Speaker 8 (01:59:43):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:59:44):
Oh it's classic. Oh yeah, thank you. I'm gonna have
to welcome that. We need to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:59:50):
Whoever it is, whoever it is, seven one three, two,
one two five, seven nine is the number to join.
I got quite a few guys want to get in
on this conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:59:56):
That's next.
Speaker 1 (02:00:00):
Sean Salisbury show continued.
Speaker 4 (02:00:06):
That's true, that's true, that's right. Allegedly, didn't Shack say
somebody went and puts the numbers on the elevator or
some onetime right to it. And there's also another thing.
He accepted an award.
Speaker 3 (02:00:22):
And he went straight for it, and and I think
Jamie Foxx said something like, man, you got to stop
Stevie Wonder you ain't slick something like that.
Speaker 4 (02:00:32):
Literally he goes like you can tell he's looking right
at it and grabs it. And your guy, uh Ray Charles,
who Jamie fox played in the movie. Yeah, if a
blind Yeah, that's what I've heard. Word on the Street.
I would say that, uh if he isn't blind to
stick with it. But he's been going with it. Talking
(02:00:54):
about a guy who puts on a good show in concert.
It's mid ye. It was awesome, that's all right, because
every single song. No, you know, he's another one of
those guys that he hitting that piano and he's off
the charts. Yeah, Stevie Wonder was great.
Speaker 3 (02:01:05):
Looks like Twitter's back up and running free agency, getting
ready to start for uh the NFL.
Speaker 4 (02:01:11):
And Sports Talk seven ninety's tically yeah s doctor Brad, Brad,
you've been in traffic, uh yeah for three and a
half hours. Yep you and uh are you in that
traffic in the Woodlands? I am I have not. I
left fourteen eighty eight at six fifteen this morning. I
am just now passing the mall. Oh god, they finally
(02:01:32):
get that thing figured out.
Speaker 5 (02:01:34):
I I have no fou. I don't see anything.
Speaker 24 (02:01:37):
I've seen a couple of vans passing by on the
left side.
Speaker 5 (02:01:39):
That's about it.
Speaker 4 (02:01:39):
M m mmm, tough man. At least at least you've
been able to listen to us, right.
Speaker 1 (02:01:44):
Well, I watched the.
Speaker 4 (02:01:44):
Movie first, Sorry, guy, I was watching a movie. How
dare him, and then I got on and then you.
Speaker 5 (02:01:51):
Had some news and I can really missed the news.
Speaker 4 (02:01:53):
What was happening here? It is my fault. I apologize,
won't happen again. But way you didn't hear it? Really,
I swear, I just bra I'm March thirteenth, This Thursday
is my last day. It's four stock seven ninety's some crap,
That's what I said.
Speaker 5 (02:02:10):
Yeah, what is it?
Speaker 4 (02:02:11):
What I don't know? Sean?
Speaker 17 (02:02:13):
What like?
Speaker 4 (02:02:13):
Come on, man, all listen, brother, I yeah, I know
the man's they's got to go get paid and stuff.
It's it's horrible for me trying to replace a guy
like him, not only one of my best friends on
the planet, but he's been my best partner ever. And
but I understand the career move, which you gotta. I
get it, going back to oil and gas. But it's
gonna gonna be a hard, hard replacement for him, man,
(02:02:36):
that's for sure. It's gonna suck.
Speaker 21 (02:02:38):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:02:38):
I watched the best, Brian, I really do.
Speaker 17 (02:02:40):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:02:40):
I hope everything that works out for you.
Speaker 4 (02:02:41):
Thank you, Brad. Appreciate you always listening and calling in,
especially during baseball season.
Speaker 8 (02:02:45):
Man.
Speaker 24 (02:02:46):
Absolutely, but uh yeah, I got much much going on
right now, so I'm gonna hang up.
Speaker 5 (02:02:51):
Listen.
Speaker 24 (02:02:51):
I have know much talk about but appreciate you guys
and Brian wish you the best and uh, Sean, I
guess you're gonna see two next.
Speaker 5 (02:02:58):
Man, I don't know what's going on.
Speaker 4 (02:02:59):
I'm probably gonna just talk to a ghost. But I
don't know what I'm gonna do yet.
Speaker 8 (02:03:03):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:03:04):
I mean I'm here, I mean Triple E's here. But
as far as replacing him, that's gonna take a long search.
I might have to hire like what it was it
Corn Ferry. But I don't know now, Brad, because you
know how it is when you get the emotions of
losing him, because it sucks for me and for the
show and for all you guys that listen, and he's
been a phenomenal friend and human being but and a
(02:03:26):
great radio partner. So I don't know, actually, because I've
known this for for a few minutes. I mean, you know,
a little longer than the rest of you guys have.
But I don't know. Man, it's gonna it's it's it's
a bummer to have to go look, but I'm gonna
have to look, probably far and wide to find somebody
that can at least start sitting there and see what happens,
and we'll see. Man, it's gonna be difficult. It sucks,
(02:03:47):
all right.
Speaker 24 (02:03:47):
Well, I appreciate your time, and Brian, good luck with him,
best lucky brother.
Speaker 4 (02:03:50):
Appreciate it, Brad, thank you. Man, let's start a big
jay was that big Jake?
Speaker 5 (02:03:55):
Dude?
Speaker 23 (02:03:56):
I am like you ruined my monday. Man, Sorry, I'm devastated.
This is like the day Hulk Hogan turn heel man.
Oh then you're talking about with n w O.
Speaker 4 (02:04:06):
Yes, yes, I mean it was devastated. But hey, you know, uh,
you know, it's it's a it's a it's a sad day,
but a good day.
Speaker 17 (02:04:15):
You know.
Speaker 23 (02:04:15):
I don't want I was thinking, man, what can I say?
But uh, I'm even depressed. I don't even think about
bbw's and tortos.
Speaker 12 (02:04:20):
Man.
Speaker 23 (02:04:21):
I can't even be sure. I can't even focus. I
can't even get my mind around them literally or my hands.
But uh, it's it's a sad day, but man, you know,
and I wish you the best, Sean. Like everybody's saying,
it's gonna be tough, because Brian, what you brought to
the table was the relatable stories, the ability to te
sh On up and and the timing you guys had,
(02:04:42):
the rapport, you know, man, it was just it's great.
Speaker 4 (02:04:46):
I can tell you this, big Jay. I want you
to finish because Brian deserves all these flowers. Is it
replacing chemistry in this business? The the the the you know,
the the intelligence on sports is obviously there and all
that stuff, but the replacing the chemistry, the entertainment of
the chemistry. For me, the friendship will never go away.
But on the air and what you heard was never
(02:05:07):
We never planned all this, which is it just is
natural and we never had to force anything. And it
sucks because the chemistry is the best I've ever had
with somebody and it's and it was easy. It was easy.
It's an easy listen for for me. And yeah, it's
gonna be harsh, so you could, I mean hard to replace.
It's the chemistry is always stuf because you can't plan it,
(02:05:27):
you can't force it, and it's when you find it
you want it to last forever. I would have just
as soon had this last the rest of my career
and we walked out of it, or I walked out
of it first, so he could have the next twenty
five years to him, and that's selfish for me, I understand.
But uh, the chemistry will you know, We'll find somebody
to come in here and do a good job, but
the chemistry is just too hard to replace.
Speaker 5 (02:05:47):
It just is.
Speaker 4 (02:05:48):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah, it's going to be. It's like you
can't replace him. You can just hope the next person
is that's a different kind of chemistry, right, Yeah, I agree, right,
you know, and like and.
Speaker 23 (02:05:58):
Like you said, you we heard that every day, through
the speakers, through the iHeart, through our cars, whatever. We
heard that every day. But we appreciate it. And man
going and we're talking a little sports, right. You brought
up Lebron. Hey, man, it's spring break. It's time for
Brownie and Lebron and the family. They got to go
on a little spring break trip. So that's why he's
gotta I.
Speaker 3 (02:06:16):
Gotta go hit that with those banana boats, you know,
Dwayne Wade going to Yeah, Anthony, Chris Bosh, Yeah, Chris
as well.
Speaker 4 (02:06:25):
Yeah, man, hopefully not hopefully not Odell Beckham Junior. Yeah, no,
I don't know. He oils up too many bananas, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (02:06:35):
Johnson and Johnson, I think that got lost in the mail.
I likes that he likes those uh baby oils apparently.
Speaker 23 (02:06:41):
Oh man, Anyway, I don't want to keep you guys.
I'm sure guys are calling in. I'll call back Friday,
but you guys have a great week. And uh, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Yes, Thursday,
because the show's ending on Friday.
Speaker 6 (02:06:55):
I mean Sewn's on vacation next week, you know, Friday.
Speaker 4 (02:06:57):
I don't know, well, they don't know it yet, but
they're about to find out. I'm all vacation. Next tra.
Speaker 5 (02:07:03):
Requests submitted.
Speaker 3 (02:07:04):

for the astros from er val des pitch over.
Speaker 4 (02:07:17):

get ready to end the show.

Speaker 3 (02:08:26):
Astros in Action today, Blue Jay taking on the Blue
Jays twelve oh seven. The first pitch eleven fifty is
when the covers is going to start right here on
seven on your home four Astros of Baseball. Before we
take our final call, the show man Cornerbacks getting paid
in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (02:08:43):
J C.
Speaker 3 (02:08:44):
Horn Pro Bowl cornerback for the Panthers, has agreed on
a massive extension four years, one hundred million dollars, seventy
million guaranteed. Ooh, buddy, twenty five million year. My man,
that's Joe's sun, isn't it it is?
Speaker 4 (02:09:01):
Yeah? And I you know, known Joe a long time,
and Joe is a really good player. I'm you know,
we always want your kids to do better than you
and have, but you know, no matter what it is,
you always wish for that. I'm sure Joe's awfully proud
of his boy making more money over in four years,
and Joe probably made his entire NFL career incredible. This
(02:09:24):
sounds a good player. That's a lot of money, money
out of money. Pretty good though. Good for him. Get
the bag. Yeah, that's awesome. Talk to Tony. What's up Tony?
Speaker 5 (02:09:33):
Hey? Guys, normally I talk about baseball, and I got
a few things say about baseball. But are we moving
on from Shack Mason? Is that what I'm hearing?
Speaker 4 (02:09:41):
Shack Mason was cut on Friday?
Speaker 5 (02:09:45):
Yep. Okay, any more cuts coming from the offensive.
Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
Line, I would not that we know of as of
right now. But I would not doubt it. Yeah, Mason's
was Friday. Thursday was Friday. Yep, that's right after our show.
Speaker 5 (02:09:58):
Yeah, let me throw this out there. Back when Jadevian
Clowney was taking number one overall by the Texas I
think it was twenty fourteen. It was they had the
bad season in twenty thirteen. Jake Matthews was it was
playing tackle and was available from Texas A and m
at five, and at the time, I said, man, we
should trade down to the Falcons and get that number.
(02:10:19):
They'd give them the number one pick. They take Clowney
if they want it to take him, we get Jake
Matthews had another pick. He could have played right tackle
and Jay and Dwayne Brown played left tackle until Dwayne
Brown left and then you just slide him over to
left tackle. He's got that bloodline, fellas, He's got that
Matthew's bloodline. You know what I'm talking about. Sean.
Speaker 4 (02:10:38):
Uh oh, very well. I see Bruce Why every week,
and uh yeah, it'd be nice and you you plug
him in for twelve years and you don't have to
even look over there anymore, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (02:10:47):
Twenty twenty. His dad played twenty He's gonna probably he's
already in his what eleventh year, twelfth year, he's gonna
place it. And he's been solid at left hit tackle.
He never made he never jumps off sides. He gets
his assignments done. But anyway, that's no shock Matthews. They
know how they're resilient and they are durable. The blood line.
It's the bloodline. But anyway, they made a mistake. That
(02:11:08):
was another mistake that they made. Just it was simple,
simple man. I don't know if they could have gotten
the deal done, but that's what I would have done.
You wouldn't have to be worried about these tackle problems
and in the quarterback shield from the blood side, because
Jake Matthews wouldn't allow it to happen. The astros. What
are we gonna do with Cam Smith? Guys? You can't
(02:11:30):
send him that they were The plan was to send
him a double A. Right, he hasn't played above above
what I sending the double A? So send him the
sugar Land for how long? That are they gonna even
put a plate up on his locker over there at
sugar Land?
Speaker 4 (02:11:48):
I would keep him right here.
Speaker 5 (02:11:50):
I just put I just put it up there and
take because I don't think he's gonna be there that long,
and he may even make the club out of spring.
Speaker 4 (02:11:57):
I hope so.
Speaker 5 (02:11:57):
And if he and if he does, i'd claim in right,
I wouldn't put him at third base. I'd keep your
because you got some some depth in there.
Speaker 4 (02:12:04):
But that's exactly where they're gonna if he makes the club,
that's exactly where he'll start as in right field, exactly.
Speaker 5 (02:12:10):
Not a whole lot of pressure and just matched the baseball.
Speaker 4 (02:12:14):
Appreciate you, tony Ye, thanks guys, appreciate it. Yep. It's
gonna be interesting to see.
Speaker 8 (02:12:19):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:12:19):
We're gonna keep watching this camp Smith kid. And he's okay.
Speaker 3 (02:12:22):
He gets to start today at third base, so we
will see how he does. He's been swinging it really well.
Excuse me, damn sure man? Yeah, And free agency NFL
opens up officially in about an hour.
Speaker 4 (02:12:37):
Let's go Texas. Let's get some stuff done now.
Speaker 8 (02:12:40):
Man.
