up and coming in early on aday where the news is interesting this morning,
to say the least, again wefind that every headline on every major
(00:24):
website is taking us to the MiddleEast. It really to me, as
crazy as it sounds. As Iwas actually driving last night, I heard
the news and I was just like, oh, oh, this is It's
Friday. The struggle is real.Yeah, the struggle is real. The
global struggle is real. You knowwhat. Thank God and the Baby heyesus
that Taylor Swift decided to drop anew album today because the tortured Poet's Department
(00:47):
will keep our minds off of thefact that the world can be a dumpster
fire at times. It's just tome, it's just amazing how Taylor Swift
always seems to come in and swoopand make everything and make everything better by
reminding us all that. You knowwhat, It's okay to have bad relationships,
it's okay for things to go crazy. They make for great songs.
(01:07):
And so in order to keep yourmind off of everything in the news.
And I don't know about you,but it's just I'm a news junkie,
but I've got news fatigue, youknow what I mean. I'm just like
not discounting the news. It's importantin this town to know what you need
to know. But it's just likehere we go again. So thank god
Taylor Swift is here to take ourminds off of stuff. And a little
bit later on this morning, we'regonna play some new songs from the Tortured

day to listen to new stuff fromTaylor and for more get to wash up
in the meantime, let's get itstarted. Kati Harris is in for Chilli
Amar. I am Toby Napp. And you had a chance to talk to
who that gave you some interesting advicethe other day. Derek Huff from Dancing
with the Stars. He's an EmmyAward winner. I mean like, if
you've ever seen him on Dancing withthe Stars, he's magical. But that
(02:19):
piece of advice that I got fromhim stop me dead in my tracks and
I was like, WHOA, Well, now you have to share it with
the class. So let's get tothat. Next is Toby and Chilly in
the Morning continues on this Friday morning. Welcome to the nineteenth of April d
C. Thanks for being here Tobyand Chilly in the Morning ninety seven point
one watch FM on Friday morning inthe nation's capital, playing the part of
(02:39):
Chilia Mar who's out recovering from amedical procedure. Kati Harris is here with
me, Toby Nap. Now youhad a chance to talk with Derek Huff,
the star of Dancing with the Stars, or one of the stars.
I should say, yes, he'sgetting ready to come to Capital One Hall
for the Symphony of Dance, butIncredible Dancer Emmy Award winner, and that
(03:00):
interview kind of changed. It hitme who he knew? He was a
life coach too, Now, howdid this come up? Kind of set
this up for us. I askedhim a question because I watched Dancing with
the Stars and sitting there on mycouch, I'm like, man, I
would love to do that, butI feel like I have two left feet.
And so I asked him, Isaid, what do you say to
somebody that likes watching other people dancebut they feel like they can't do it?
(03:23):
When did you decide to stop dancing? That's the question? And you
kind of you'll sit there and go, wait, what does that mean?
And I'm like, well, Ireally believe that kids, when we're young,
were dancing around, We're moving aroundin the house, were just kind
of jumping up on things and justwigging on our hips and having fun.
And then at some point sometimes there'sa moment where we just decided, oh
wait, I'm not going to dothat anymore. And they really try to
think about that and thinking like whendid I stop dancing? Really? Derek
(03:46):
Hoff with the Life Advice So,Kat, when did you stop dancing?
I kind of feel like it wasin middle school where I felt like I
was being judged, And I rememberI had a dance teacher who actually told
me you just can't dance. Well, that's unfortunate, but it's true.
These things that were told as kidsresonate and we carry them with us into
(04:06):
adulthood. I remember feeling less thanadequate at playing basketball, so I never
really gave it my all. Really, I never really gave it my all.
I let the opinions of other peopledrown out what I wanted to do
or wanted to be. And itseems to me like that's what Derek's saying,
When did you stop dancing? Whendid you let other people tell you
you couldn't? So that question ofwhen did you stop has made me think
(04:29):
when am I gonna start? It'snever too late to get started or to
get started again. By the way, if you've received some life advice that
has spoken to you, much likeDerek Huff spoke to, KT eight sixty

completely true. How many times haveyou been told something somebody's giving you some
advice, that's advice that they're givingyou based on what they interpret you're you
as being. But listen to youand in that unus you'll find that the
opposite might just be true. LikeRick Rubin says, think outside of the
box. With every piece of advice, consider that sometimes the opposite is completely
(06:25):
true. And if that spoke toyou, or if it spoke to somebody
you know, you can find iton the Toby and Chilipage, washfm dot
