Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one Wash Up Out.
Oh can you not be thankful whenyou get to wake up and go and
get coffee, even if you spillsome of it on your jersey, your
minor league baseball jersey. Getting upin the morning and knowing that you have
the freedom to be able to goget coffee is a little thing that we
take for granted. It's something thatgives me some joy before five o'clock this

(00:23):
morning. Very nice, makes mefeel good. Ninety seven point one wash
u F M. Toby and Chillyin the morning. How you doing this
morning there, Chili? You areeverything good in your world today? Yeh
yeah, yeah, no coffee spillageover here. I like that. There's
a free tea in our kitchen,so I'm taking advantage of that this morning.
Free tea. It's the little thing. See, it's the it's the
weird like pollen or something in theair that's giving me a little bit of

(00:48):
in my throat. Yeah no,there was a whole lot of that going
right yan. It kind of throwsit up for right. See, the
rain normally is supposed to knock itdown. But I will say this.
I saw in Boston over the weekend, a T shirt that talked about how
it was it cracks some joke aboutthe weather, and they're like, oh
my bad, that's just the pollenit is, and you know, the

(01:10):
pollen is reaping havoc on people. It's you know, not to mention the
fact that that it's warm one day, cold the next, warm, one
day cold the next, plus pollen. I mean, your body can only
take so much. But keeping aneye on the little things in life.
At least there's free tea to helpcoach your throat. That's true. And
and and by the way, youcan develop allergies later in life. Just

(01:30):
because you never have them as akid doesn't mean you'll never have them when
it comes to no environment. It'snot that I have allergies. I'm just
saying, well, you know, one never knows. But it's very true.
I mean, like, you know, your body might be okay one
day, but then you know, two weeks later, your body shows up
to remind you, hey, thisis different now. It's not like it

(01:51):
used to be. You know, yes, but then again, at least
you have that life. So keepyour eye on what's positive today. As
we get into this Tuesday in theNation's cow But on ninety seven point one
WASHFM is on at eight sixty sixninety seven forty three sixty one talk back
microphones wide open too. I understandyou're a fan of Baby Reindeer on Netflix.
Yeh, Chili. I binged itwhile I was recovering, and let

(02:13):
me tell you there's a reason whypeople love this show. Well, stay
there, tell us everything, andmaybe somebody allowed that to their binge.
This list coming up as we closein on another weekend that's minutes away.
Here at ninety seven point one WASHFM, Good Morning, Baby Reindeer, but
not the Santa Kind. Ninety sevenpoint one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the Morning. You might want toadd this to your binge. This list,

(02:36):
Chili, Why is this something you'rehooked on right now? This show
Baby Reindeer on Netflix? Well,I watched it probably maybe in two days.
It's seven episodes and it's on Netflixbased on a true story of this
struggling comic who is stocked by awoman that he meets while he's bartending.
For years now, I thought itwas going to have like a misery esque

(02:59):
vibe to it. You know, stalker, crazy woman coming after a guy.
But it's disturbing for other reasons. It shows you how when you need
so much validation in life that themoment somebody gives you any kind of kindness,
you sort of get addicted to thatand it's like a weird relationship with

(03:23):
the person who's giving you the attention. Does that make any sense? It
does. Netflix is very good abouttaking psycho stuff and adding it to true
crime related sorts of stuff and tellinga great story. And that's one of
the reasons why I believe Baby Reindeeris all the rage right now. It's
viral for a reason because it's deep. It's it's a depth. It's a

(03:46):
deep dive into a part of thehuman psyche, which is something that's not
really always comfortable to talk about. But nonetheless people are fascinated, much like
looking at a dumpster fire. AndI think the reason it's disturbing is because
maybe there's a part of us thatgoes wow, that potentially could be us

(04:08):
allowing that kind of weird relationship withsomebody who's giving us that attention. Or
if you're broken enough, you knowthe way I'm broken enough that you kind
of gosh, almost need that personin your life. It's so good for
so many reasons. I think youeither love it or you hate it.
I don't know that there's a lotof gray with this show. No,
there's a big what if. AndI think the fact that everybody has that

(04:30):
what if moment is one of thereasons why the show resonates because you're like,
well, what if I am thisperson that needs this sort of a
thing. What if I were inthis place? What if I could relate
to what that person's going through?Because the truth is, you're asking the
what if because maybe at some pointin time you have and therein lies one
of the keys to a good story. And if you haven't watched it,

(04:54):
I recommend it Baby Reindeer on Netflixif you're looking for something to watch.
That's why it's important to you this. You know what else is important?
Your mindset this morning? How areyou doing today? That's some words that
might inspire you. Coming up injust a few minutes with your morning mindst
here on a ninety seven point onewash up. Now, where is your
head at time to take a lookat your mindset? Your morning mindset?

(05:16):
Here on ninety seven point one washufM Toby and Silly in the Morning.
What's the coute that You've chosen?Kirk Colbaine of Nirvana says, wanting to
be someone else is a waste ofthe person you are. God rest Kirk
Cobaine's soul. Wanting to be someoneelse is a waste of the person you
are. He's onto something. Whywould you want to be someone else or

(05:39):
someone that other people want you tobe? You're not being you? You
are enough. Why waste the personyou are trying to be somebody? You're
not somebody that someone else wants youto be, or somebody else in general.
You're here for a reason. Embracethat reason today. Kirk Colbain says,
wanting to be someone else is awaste of the person you are,

(06:00):
and if that resonates, find itthe Toby and chilipage at washfm dot com.

own shop. But I don't thinkhe ever ever wanted me or my sister
to follow in his footsteps, becauseI think in his mind. He came
to this country to give us abetter education and maybe to be doctors or
lawyers. Never once planned a seed, never once kind of pushed you in

(17:30):
a direction. Never even taught mehow to sew a button on a shirt.
You care, what about you?My dad never pushed me to become
an exploration geologist who used to findoil and gas. He just wanted me
to do what it was. Ithink that made me happy, that gave
me passion in life. You know, and your daughter's older now, she's
going to be making career decisions inthe next couple of years. Do you

(17:51):
want her to follow in your footstepsor no? Only if it's something that
she wants to do, because obviouslydoing this whole content thing and creating and
talking and being in the radio's familybusiness because her mom's on radio as well.
And I haven't talked to her momabout it. But I wouldn't want
to push her to do something. But it's not what she wants to do,
it's what I would want her todo. That's not a formula for

so I looked into it, butI realized, you know, when
I got to college, that itjust wasn't my thing, and I discovered
that being a chef is what I'mmeant to be. And she wasn't happy
about it at first, but youknow, she came around well, especially

(18:33):
if you're really good at it,she doesn't have to worry about making dinner
anymore. Right. That would makeyou the point person for every holiday meal
for your family exactly. But toyour point though about following your passions,
if you followed your mom's passion,it wouldn't be your passion. Then you
wouldn't be any good at it.And I bet you your file Mignon is
probably a lot better than your bedsidemanner. Thank you for jumping into the

confusing text message from her date.Find out why I was confusing and what
this meant for the dates. Next, it's Toby and Chilli's Crazy first Date

(19:41):
Kim and Joppa, Maryland. Goodmorning, Welcome Chilly and I are ready
to hear this story, so tellus all of the things. So I
went on this date with this guyand I met him at a bar restaurant
and he was sitting at the bar. So I went up to him and
he had ordered a glass of water. I was like, okay, this
is in. So I ordered aglass of water. So we got called

(20:03):
to our table and the weight justcomes over and he didn't order anything else
besides to glass the water. SoI was like, maybe he's I don't
know, waiting a little bit toorder. And as I was talking to
him, he said, how aboutyou come over to my house and we
can make a pizza, and Iwas like, no, I'm not going
over to your house. I don'tknow you'll come over and have a pizza.

(20:23):
So I thought to myself, hewas very odd and I need to
get out of here. So Iexcused myself to the bathroom, and when
I was in the bathroom, hetexted me and he said I had to
leave. I'm sorry, And soI was like, thank goodness so that
I was able to leave and Ididn't have to see him again. Hey,
So there's so many questions here, first and foremost, did he give

(20:45):
you a reason why he had toleave suddenly? Was it because it was
going to be too expensive? Whathappened? He never told me. He
just said I'm sorry I had toleave. Do you think he was bummed
that you shot down going over tothe house so he could show you pepperoni?
I mean, make a pizza ofsome sort? I mean, you
know, simmer down there, allright. I just I'm so confused when

(21:10):
she said no, I guess hepanicked, maybe that he couldn't afford this
dinner, is all I was thinking. Wow, if he hadn't had that
weird interaction with you, you knowat the restaurant, was there anything else
redeeming about him that you would havestayed, you know, like, was
he attractive? Did he seem interestingin other ways? He was attractive,

(21:30):
he was just something just was off. He was just kind of odd.
I mean, that's not even pullingthe Houdini. He just said I gotta
go, I'm out. Well hedidn't just leave, you know, he
did send her a text while shewas at the toilet. There are just
I have so many questions that Idon't know that we have enough time to
even delve into all of them. There, Kim from japed, this,

(21:52):
this whole date has me confounded.I never heard from homent down either.
We hope that this didn't discourage youfrom continuing to date other men or hopefully
find somebody eventually in life. No, I continue to date. Well,
hopefully whoever you're dating doesn't decide todisappear because they can't afford a date at
a restaurant after you shoot them downfor coming over for a nice evening of

(22:15):
making some pizza. Are you seeinganybody right now? No, not at
the moment. Well, you haveuntil October thirteenth, if you choose to
take a date with you to gosee justin Timberlake at Capital One Arena.
Thanks to Live Nation. Oh yeah, thanks, I'm so excited. Congratulations
and please take somebody that's got alittle more going on than this guy did,

(22:37):
because wow, I will top storiesTop of the Hour. Reports say

Keith and Alexandria, what's on yourmind this morning? My dad was
a lifer Army guy. His unitwas the unit and we were soldiers with

and sling an asphalt in the summer. Then I got into a quatic and

became a lifetime pool operator, andthen I did a little mini lifetime and
fueling aircraft and Reagan Nationals. AndI can just say that ultimately, even
though I was a beach bum hippiethat and I still am, I didn't
develop the discipline to approach all myjobs with due diligence. I would have
made a good corporal to my dad'ssergeant. Do you feel like he was

(25:33):
disappointed you didn't follow in that footstepof his or was he pretty open to
whatever you wanted to do. Well, He told me I should become a
civil service. Your dad's probably happyyou at least followed him in the government
line of business. With all theother jobs. I approached it with so
much focus I guess would be theword infinitely. He saw, Hey,

(25:56):
I stood my ground. I actuallybecame a little soldier, least in my
attitude in Arlington Cemetery. Yes Ido. My oldest boy is a carpenter
