Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one Washem Welcome to Thursday,
May sixteenth, It's Toby and Chillyin the Morning. On ninety seven
point one Wash FM. I amChili Amar. Toby Napp is out today
and you know what today happens tobe National Piercing Day. Now, I
wouldn't normally bring something so random up, but I don't think I've ever shared

(00:22):
the story of how I got myears pierced. Now, you may have
piercings, and if you've got aninteresting story behind any of your piercings,
I would love to hear it.Just keep it g eight six six nine
two seven four three six one.Okay, So I'm five years old and
I'm begging my parents to get myears pierced. And just so you know,

(00:43):
I'm first generation Armenian American, andI think that matters because culturally,
we wouldn't go to the mall toget our ears pierced. Okay, this
is in the eighties. My grandmotherwas the queen of piercing our ears.
She would literally with a big pen, put little dots on my ear low
oop, and then numb your earlobe with an ice cube and using a

(01:06):
needle in thread pierce my ear andthen we would keep that loop of thread
in our ear piercing so that itdoesn't close up for a few weeks,
and then we would go get astud put it in there. How ridiculous
does that sound right now? Right? Sounds so barbaric, But that is
how I got my ear pierced whenI was just five years old, and

(01:26):
Grandma did such a great job.The original holes are still going strong,
Thank you very much. Anyway,I hope you have a wonderful Thursday.
We are getting one step closer toFriday, and maybe you've got a little
cookout planned or a little barbecue actionpot luck style. I'm bringing this up

(01:48):
now because yesterday on the show, our producer Taylor Shay and I were talking
about people who bring food like they'resupposed to and those who offered just let
me pitch in some money. What'sthe person who pitches in money? Y'all
had some thoughts on that. Leslieactually is on the phone right now because
she says she wanted to add herthoughts, and we'll get to that as

(02:09):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning continueson ninety seven point one wash Oh Lord,
have mercy. The debate continues. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning
on ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm Chilli Omar. Toby Napp is
out today, but our producer TaylorShay is here. And yesterday we got
into this heated debate about is itever okay to offer money instead of taking

(02:32):
food to a pot luck because Taylor, I'm happy to venmo you fifty bucks,
Oh god, and I just thinkthat just is not okay. Well,
Leslie Hurt is talking about it,and she has something to say.
What are your thoughts this morning,Leslie? That's lazy. Yes's in this
world of uber you can uber somefood there, you can inch the cart,

(02:54):
you can bring something. I'm sorry, just throwing money at somebody is
lazy and it's rude. But it'sstill all through an app. So isn't
it equally as lazy. There's notmore or less effort if you venmo versus
uber food there, you know whatI mean. But then there's that somebody
else then has to contribute the foodthat you give the money for. Else

(03:15):
you're making somebody else doesn't work whetheryou're given them the money if you're the
host Leslie and you put out oneof those text messages, how do you
react to that? I'll just say, you know what, I'm so busy.
I don't have a whole lot oftime with everybody else here. If
you want to give money, thenjust call up Popeyes on the Uber app
and have them deliver a box ofchicken. Huh. You see, Taylor,

(03:36):
she's not backing down. That's whatyou gotta do next time. Can
you handle that? I'm never gettinginvited to another cookout ever again. Coming
up in just a few minutes, and we're gonna try to get you into
a great morning mindset with a quoteas Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues
on ninety seven point one, washchefA, It's Toby and Chilly in the
Morning. On ninety seven point onewas chef am, I am Chiliamar.

(03:58):
Toby Napp is out. And thisis the part of the show where we
try to get you into a morepositive headspace with our morning mindset quote and
Anonymous says, before you judge someoneabout their anger, ask them about their
pain. This is really important becausewe'll look within yourself too. Those times

(04:19):
where you snap at somebody or youhave a lot of anger and resentment,
it's probably because there's pain underneath itall. So as you take on the
rest of your day today, ifyou come across somebody that seems a bit
aggressive or angry, before you getdefensive and want to snap back at them.
I know it's hard, but takea beat and ask them about their

(04:42):
pain or think about their pain. There's another quote, right, hurt people,
hurt people. So take that intoconsideration. And if you've got a
quote that you'd like to share withus for our morning Mindset, you can
always find it on the Toby andChili page using hasht Morning Mindset at waschfm

A ninety seven point one washeff, good morning, Welcome to Thursday, May
sixteenth. It's Toby and Chilly inthe Morning. A ninety seven point one
wasch FM. I'm Chilliamar. TobyNap is out, but our producer Taylor
Shay is here, and you aresuper excited about a date you've got coming

(15:16):
up, the first date. Butit's not with your husband. What No,
it's with a mom friend. Ifinally made a mom friend. Oh
yeah, now your kids are howold two and three. I have two
little boys and my two year old. We take classes at the little Gym
in downtown Crown and I've seen thismom there multiple times and she's gone out

(15:37):
of her way to talk to me, and every time I leave there,
I'm like, I wish I hadgiven her my phone number, but it's
just so awkward the potential rejection.Making mom friends is just as hard as
dating. So finally I got thecourage to give this lady my phone number
at the end of class. Soyou gave her the power to reach out
to you again. Yes, becausewe had talked about how we need more

(16:00):
classes around the area for our kids. We both live in Montgomery County and
so she suggested these music classes thatare so we go to the little gym
on Saturday, and she said, well, we take these music classes on
Sunday. So I also signed upfor the music classes. Now our date
is on a Saturday at a differentindoor play place. Now, if it

(16:22):
does not go well, I stillhave to see her again the next day.
God, look, okay, let'sjust rewind here for one second.
Do you not have any mom friendscurrently? Do you know what I'm saying
or do you just don't have thetype you really want? And what does
that even mean? A little bitof both. Most of my mom friends,
I have friends scattered all over thecountry, So I have mom friends,

(16:45):
but they're not necessarily local to thearea. So I'm looking for someone
that I can take my kids toactually play with, like play dates and
things like that. Yeah, andsomebody you get along with and your kids
get along with, rather geographically desirable. Yes, Oh my god, I
really do hope it goes well foryou, because that music class would be
hella awkward the very next Ye,I don't want to end up on a
segment of crazy first dates on theToby and Chili Show. Yeah. Well,

(17:07):
luckily for you, it doesn't countfor mom dates. Speaking of which
we do have another one of yourcrazy first dates coming up next. Blanca
from Frederick. Her first kiss endedin a bloody mess. Yes, find
out what happened as Toby and Chillyin the Morning continues on ninety seven point
one, La chef f It's Tobyand Chilli's Crazy First Dates Blanca and Frederick.

(17:32):
Good morning. We can't wait tohear this story coming from the top
of two seventy, where it meetsfifteen. Welcome, We're all ears.
So I was working at foot Lockermany years ago, probably like twenty twelve.
I was very young. I wasworking with a very handsome man.
She and I started flirting and wesaid, you know, why don't we

(17:56):
just hang out. He invited meover to his hole, and I really
wanted to look cute. I worea white turtleneck while Flauren dress with my
white winter boots. And we haddinner and we're sitting on the couch and
you know, he goes in fora kiss and I kissed him back,
and then he just like a joltsbackwards. And when I see him,

(18:18):
he has like a faucet leak ofa bloody nose. It was so shocking,
and treucher to turn off and Isee it feel so bad, but
I never saw him again. Itjust freaked me out. So as he's
bleeding all over you, I mean, I'm hoping you didn't just get up
and run out, then, like, did you at least pretend to care

(18:40):
do something I tried. I honestlyfreaked out. And then I'm guessing that
at that point the date may haveended. Did he try to get in
touch with you again he did.I think I was just had a lot
of trauma behind that. I mean, there was so much blood and it
just completely freaked me out. Sure, it was a good white dress,
your white shoes were the white ensemble. You wanted to look really cute in

(19:03):
all white. Ah, And youknow it was more of just like having
someone else's blood on you. Youwere swapping spit. You didn't want other
bodily too good, because it soundsto me like if that hadn't happened,
this guy actually maybe had a chance. I don't know. I felt like
Carrie, you know in that moviewhere they dumped all the pig's blood on

(19:25):
her. I know that's so dramatic, but it was just so much blood.
It really freaked me out. Howmany deep, dark secrets do you
reveal to your hairstylist? Y,It's Chili Amar with Toby and Chilly in
the morning, A ninety seven pointone was FM. Toby Nap is out.
But our producer Taylor Shay is here. And I'm asking this because earlier

(19:47):
with our nearly impossible question, welearned that fifteen percent of women have made
a big life decision based on aconversation that she had with her hairstylists,
and more than half of women admitthat they reveal intimate seak where it's to
their stylists that they wouldn't dare sharewith anyone else. That seems shocking to
me. Do you share those sortof secrets with your hairstylist, Chili?

(20:08):
To be fair, no, becauseI feel like I talk about my life
or our life here at work.So when I'm sitting in the chair and
I've been with my stylists for almosttwenty years, I would rather hear about
his life and his drama than talkabout my own. So it's always been
the opposite with me. What aboutwith you? See, I have a

(20:30):
great hairstylist. I love her. When we do talk, it's great conversation,
but I like a quiet appointment.I like to put in my earbuds
and watch Real Housewives Like I'm notthere to like be buddies. Even though
she's great, I have no problemwith her, like that's my mother.
I have no kids, no husband, no work, Like that's kind of
me. Times it's kind of likea spa DA. Yeah, don't talk
to me at all. But ifyou have shared some deep, dark secrets

(20:53):
or maybe you've overheard other people doingit. Oh that's my favorite. I
love to eat, drop on theover our sharers in the salon, do
spill the tea right now with useight six six nine two seven four three
