Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand onninety seven point one washef out, Good
morning and welcome to ninety seven pointone was Chef M Toby and Chilly in
the morning. Are you feeling goodthis morning before five o'clock? How are
you doing today? Chile? Everythinggood, Everything is good. I use
a little hack for a deviated septumissue. Breathe right strips. Oh,
(00:22):
those are what we used to usein football to breathe. Well, yeah,
right. We used to use themto get oxygen through so we wouldn't
pass out. It's interesting because Ijust made an assumption that it's just for
snoring issues, which you know,as far as I know, I don't
have a snoring issue. My husbandhasn't said that. But a friend of
mine uses it because she has aslight deviated septum and it helps just enough
(00:44):
and lo and behold. It reallydid help last night. If it wasn't,
it's good. Yeah. If itwas a severe deviation, I don't
know that it would work. Butfor what I've got, it was a
big difference. It kind of pullsit open for yeah right, yeah,
no, it's good stuff. I'mhappy with it. Well, that's good.
I'm feeling good this morning because afterthe show yesterday, I went up
to Frederick. I'd been shopping andit's no secret that I've been trying to
save money, that I've been cuttingcorners here and there, unseen medical expun
(01:08):
known medical expenses, college tuition billsand more. So I found an open
box deal on a freezer for thegarage, and what was regularly like one
hundred and eighty nine bucks I gotfor I think eighty five all in with
a complete warranty on it and everything. And I had to go pick it
up and check. You always shouldcheck out those stuff. So I went
(01:30):
up to Frederick to the Best Buy. I checked it out, left with
it. Last I checked it's coolingand getting cold enough to freeze. It
really is the little things. Butthe fact that I was able to save
that much was driving to Frederick topick up something that saved me money.
How was that too much time orwhatever? No, it wasn't. It's
great. Well, I love howjust I think it was this time yesterday
(01:53):
morning you talked about all the icecream you'd ordered, your Bluebelt ice cream.
Oh yes, yes, it's supposedto arrive today. Now you've got
a place to put it, Ido it to that. And I have
a lot of trash to throw outtoo, because if stuff gets freezer burned,
I guess that's a sign you probablyneed to dump it. Well,
I now have freezer space. Hallelujah. I will, I will once I
(02:15):
clean out the other freezer. Tobyand Chilly in the morning. It's all
about the little things. At ninetyseven point one wash FM, eight six
six wash FM, the number one, the number coming up next, Oh
my gosh, forty one percent ofpeople actually want to have a summer fling.
Well, there you go. Haveyou had oneiz the season? About

The number one, eight six sixnine to seven forty three sixty one.
If you've got stories to share instories to tell? Now here's the data.
Forty one percent actually want to haveone. Yes, Oh good,
there's nothing wrong with that. It'sthe season, it's summer, it's warm.
People are feeling ornery. I thinkmore than feeling ornery, I think
(03:00):
summertime, for some reason is likea great date season because there's so many
things to do outdoors. You cango on little trips together as a couple,
perhaps, but a fling to meimplies that you literally want to no
strings attached kind of book up situation. There's nothing wrong with that. You
go on a girl's trip, youmeet a guy. Why not ever happened
(03:21):
to me? So you go ona trip where you're and it's clear that
both of you agree, Hey,baby, we're just going to be hanging
out while I'm in Ocean City, right, yeah, whatever, it's happened
before. You know, it's notlike I'm looking for it now because I'm
satisfied by what I'm in. Butlike, yeah, but yeah, you
just you you need to be honestand upfront about it, you know.
(03:43):
And you can kind of tell whenwhen people are of like mind when it
comes to flings and such, youknow, because they random makeout session at
the bar goes a certain way andthen you know you have your moment to
discuss it real quick and then youjust kind of lay it out. But
it won't work if you're not onit about it up front. Interesting,
because the summer fling to me isjust one step above a one night stand.
(04:04):
No, the non committedness of it. No, they could be your
summer significant other for a week, you know what I mean, or for
however long you're on the road ora cruise or at some resort doing whatever.
I used to like going to weddingsalone because you never know who you
might meet, it said wedding destination. Oh my god. Well, yeah,
you're clearly not alone. A lotof people feel the same way.
(04:27):
How do you feel about summer flings? Thoughts? Talk back? Microphones open.

right, I found this and Iwas thinking of you, and it makes
a lot of sense. Mary lilBook says creativity is inventing, experimenting,
growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun. Think
(05:11):
about that creativity, inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules,
making mistakes, having fun. Thisis what Mary lu Cook has to
say. And Mary lu Cook isright on point. You can't be creative
if you color inside the lines. You can't. So invent, break rules,
(05:32):
do what everybody tells you. Youshouldn't take risks, don't be afraid
of making mistakes, and along theway, try to have some fun and
watch that creativity sore. Keep thatin mind today and if it helps,

grumpy mcgrump person proof need a moodboost? You need to draw some food,

you feeling grumpy down in the dumpsa chilly in the morning here at ninety
(10:01):
seven point one washf and we won'teven charge you a copay for this information
based on research that's going around theinternet. If you want to boost your
mood, grab a pencil, somecrayons, maybe a sharpie marker, and
sketch some fatty food. We're talkingdrawing pizzas, cupcakes, or anything that
is not good for you will boostyour mood by twenty eight percent. You
(10:24):
mean if I draw some deep friedchicken wings that it's gonna make me feel
better even though I can't eat them. I'm telling you right now this is
bs because I can sketch a sliceof pizza. It's gonna make me just
want the pizza more, which isgonna make me even grumpier. So my
brain is broken. Clearly, thistrick or whatever the scientific thing doesn't work
(10:46):
with my brain. Do you thinkit would work? You know, I'm
up open minded to anything. Ihave not sat down. Maybe I will
sit down and draw some sort offatty food and I will see if it
takes me to some sort of aplace. But you know what I think,
And I don't know this because Iwas part of the research study.
Yes, but I think that maybethe reason this is a thing is that
some people enjoy the creative release thatcomes from sketching, even if it's a
(11:09):
bad sketch, even if you're notvery artistic. No, sir, The
reason I say no is because whenpeople sketched, vegetables did not have the
same effect. So if it wasyour theory of oh, just drawing anything
makes you, no, no,I said batty foods because vegetables. Nobody
wants to sketch vegetables that are goingto make you feel good. Those vegetables,
(11:30):
they are good for you, butthey don't make you feel some sort
of way on the positive persuasion. The only thing that's going to make me
feel good is if I actually getto eat the thing that I'm craving.
I do, no, Chilly, let's see cauliflower cupcakes, cauliflower cupcakes.
Either way, it's easier to drawcupcakes too. I just wanted to draw
a cauliflower. It's hard. No, I just wanted to get in my
(11:52):
billy. Well, if you're feelingsome sort of way, and grab a
pen in some paper and draw anythingbut veggies, and perhaps maybe it'll turn
your day around. Shelby and Chilly'snearly impossible question. Perhaps maybe this will
turn your day around if you answerthis question correctly. Oh and the theme
is food here. Okay. See, so humans consume seventy percent of this
(12:15):
snack in their own homes, andthen the other thirty percent is eaten outside
the home. So what food orsnack are we talking about? That is
interesting? Say that question again onemore time. Humans consume seventy percent of
this snack in their homes and theother times usually consumed outside the home.
I don't want to give anything away, but I feel like I'm the exact
(12:35):
opposite. I do. I amthe exact opposite. Is well, I
just I mean I know I'm noteverybody, but actually no, we do
consume this more in the home nowthat I think about it, because of
my ten year old. There's anotherclue. And that's all alrighty, and

I can tell when she's having popcorn. It smells the entire house. Yeah,

you're signed into your iHeart app listeningto us this morning. Where do your
best ideas happen? Where do youhave to go for those ideas to just
flow flow like streams of inner ofwhat living water from your inmost being?
(17:11):
Think about where that might be,and let's discuss coming up in just a
few where do you have to goto make the ideas flow? Oh,
look at that it Didverton rhyme schemeninety seven point one, wash chef.
Then I want to hear from youat eight sixty six nine two seven forty
three sixty one or via talkback ifyou're signed in, tap the microphone and
tell us where's your creative space wherethe ideas just come from? And we
(17:32):
bring it up. Because of this, a study says that we apparently are
creative when we're not focused on aspecific task. Where would that be for
you? An you're not focused andyou just let your creativity run wild.
It's right when I'm about to fallasleep, that sweet spot right before I
doze off, I'll have like thiscreative idea which ends up screwing me because
(17:52):
now I'm like Ooh, I gotto write that down, and then I
think about it more, so Iend up staying out more. What about
you? Uh, it never stops. This whole neurodivergiin thing called ADHD which
I've got, means that the ideaSpickett never turns off, so I have
to learn how to control it.But I can tell you, chilly,
absolutely, where ideas and creativity don'tcome from for me brainstorm meetings or endless
(18:15):
meetings or meetings about meetings with thosebrainstorms. And we actually had a brainstorm
session yesterday in a meeting. That'swhere we share ideas and then you can
get ideas from other people's ideas andbuild on those ideas. Why do you
feel like that's just a waste ofme because that was just one part of
a much larger meeting and there wereother purposes to that meeting. Right,
But if I'm called into a sessionwhere it's just like, okay, the
(18:37):
purpose of this meeting for the nextthirty minutes is for us to come up
with ideas. And remember, thereare no bad ideas in brainstorming. Guess
what, here's a memo. Yes, there are. I will agree with
you on that. There are badideas. I mean, I'm not trying
to call your baby ugly, butsometimes I'm the one who comes up with
the idea, and that's okay.I'm okay to admit that, So that
(19:00):
part of it, I agree. But I don't think that brainstorming sessions overall
are necessarily a waste or a placewhere creativity can't be fat I think that
they can be stifled in these brainstormingsessions. Now, like you and I
could brainstorm, and it would bedifferent than brainstorming in front of the group
because you don't know the group dynamics, you don't know how everybody thinks,
(19:22):
and then you might be like, what it goes do and do? Is
some stupid idea again? Or youknow, and maybe it's not dumb to
you. Maybe there is something there, But I don't know that I would
find that in a meeting dedicated tojust a thirty minute brainstorm where there's no
bad ideas than brainstorming. Some peoplehave a place where the best ideas do
come to them. Where would thatbe for you? Eight six six wash

(20:30):
said, hey, let's pick someshots. And I don't want to tell
her I took shops before, soI had too many. And then I
went to the bathroom trying to soberup, and I ended up passing out
on the stall. She had toget the waiter to unlock it. I
thought was over. Hold on pausefor a second, Mary, what happened
at that point? Do you havea recollection at all. Well, she
told me she the waiter had togo under the stall because it was locked
(20:53):
and unlock it and then get meout. And then I woke up.
At what point in time did shedecide she was done with Well? I
ended up marrying her. It endedup being a running joke. And for
our wedding she got grooms and cakeof a audible bottle of Patron. How
did you recover? Did you guysfinish that date or did it truly end
there with you going home? Well? She ended up actually like helping me
(21:17):
sober up. She didn't realize Idrank before because I didn't admit that while
she kept saying let's take another shotor let's have another margerita, and you
just wanted to try to hang tough, yep. I didn't want to tell
her that I was that nervous thatI just had to take shots before our

We have beautiful kids, and Igot a patrol kick out of it.
(21:40):

mean I wouldn't mind seeing a Patroncake, but I don't know about having
some shots of patron before a date. However, it seems to have worked
out for you, so I guessthat's a good thing. Hopefully you guys
still make time for date nights withoutalcohol, perhaps because that date was in
indeed crazy, which means you've won. Yes, I did, and I'm

very lucky to have her. Well, no, you didn't just win her.

my time to be alone and cleanmy head and just go over everything.
You know. That's probably a popularanswer, except I would add an asterisk
to that as long as you're moving, because if you're in traffic, I
