right, here we are in theminutes before five o'clock that we get this
show started four fifty five to whateversomething. It's ninety seven point one wash
FM Toby and Chilly in the morning. You're feeling good before five o'clock this
morning? What is going well foryou? What's bringing you some joy today?

(00:23):
Eight sixty six wash FM, thenumber one Chili I yield to you.
What's bringing you some joy this morning? What's making you feel good?
Well? I went to the mallyesterday, something I haven't done and I
can't remember the last time I physicallywalked into a mall. There's a new
store in Tyson's that I wanted tocheck out. I did, and it
was weird. It was great. It was great. I found a few

(00:43):
bargains. It's called Primark. Idon't know if you've heard of it,
but anyway, I went and Igot some cute pieces. I mean,
it's been a minute since I physicallyhave shopped in a brick and mortar place.
What about you? Right for me, it's the fact that I was
talking to my significant other last nightand I just kind of ran said,
tell me five reasons why you loveme? Oh wow, she gave me
the five reasons, and I wasjust, you know, kind of taken

(01:07):
aback by the fact that she keptnotes on little things that really means something
to her and I but just hearingit, you know, said like at
the drop of a hat, Iwas like, wow, maybe there is
such a thing as a someone Wellit's little things, you know. So
so I don't mean it's Sarah's stereotypically, Okay, it's a woman that will
ask a man, so, whydo you love me? What do you

(01:29):
love about me? Did you reciprocatethe answer? In other words, did
you give her five things you loveabout her? Didn't ask? I just
asked kind of at random before Ifell asleep last evening, And I mean,
I could give you more than fivereasons why I love her. And
one of those new reasons is lastnight, you know. I mean,
it's just you know, those thosereasons kind of you know, they shuffle
like a deck of cards. Sometimesdifferent things move to the top of it.

(01:51):
But you don't know what made youask. You just decided, you
know, I do kind of knowwhat made me ask. I was just
you know, there are times whenyou let yourself get it kind of lost
in your thoughts when it comes tocertain doubts, certain things or oh okay,
certain decisions you have to make, and maybe you're not sure yourself for
whatever reason. It's not that Ineeded to be reassured. I just asked

(02:12):
in random okay, and just hearingjust at the drop of a hat that
answer, it makes you realize whatyou're worth, you know what I mean.
It also makes you realize you've gotan amazing woman. I am pretty
lucky. Yeah, I'm pretty evenif I don't show it all the time,
you know, because life can bethat way anyway. What's making you
feel good? Before five o'clock thismorning, let us know eight sixty six
Wash FM, the number one eightsix six nineteen seven forty three sixty one

New Olympic sports are rolling out. There's stuff down the line that's got people
going hmm, either hmm like that'sawesome or m that's not. Like what
is that all about? We'll talkabout it next with Toby and Chilly in
the Morning. Lots of new Olympicsports coming Toby and Chilly in the Morning
ninety seven point one wash FM.Breakdancing makes it debut at this year's Olympics.
People are like, hum, breakdancing. Really. We had a lively

(02:59):
conversation about that earlier this week.Well, we also found out some new
games that are being considered for theOlympics, including gaming as in video games,
as in Valorant, as in Roadblocks, as in insert game here,
Rocket League. These are all gameswhich are highly competitive, which people around

(03:19):
the world play and they take veryvery seriously. I take it, Chilli.
You're not too into the idea ofgaming being an Olympic sports so not
in the official Olympics. I thoughtit was going to be Official Olympics.
But the IOC created esports games,Olympic esports games, So to me,
that's a whole different category and itmakes more sense if you know what I'm

(03:39):
saying. Well, I know thatthey're trying it out that way this year,
but then you know in a futureOlympics. Yeah, if it's successful,
that's how they did the break dancingthing. If it's successful, you
could be playing for the Golden RocketLeague. So this is where I'm going
to get a lot of heat.I think. I don't think that it
requires athleticism per se that other thingslike dance or other sports do. So

(04:03):
I just think they should be aseparate thing. Esports can stay esports,
but then like actual Olympics should bedifferent. I'm actually completely one hundred percent
in opposition to that. I thinkthat they should be because I think there
are many athletic things about esports andgaming, and I think it's a real

(04:24):
deal thing for people, Like thereare people who take this gaming so seriously.
It's an NCAA sport. Now whynot win the gold? You have
to train non stop, they getbig sponsorships. The second most watched sporting
event on the planet next to theNFL. Esports and gaming, so I
mean why not. I mean that'swhat the Olympics would be for to showcase,

(04:46):
Hey, the very best at whateverthat endeavor may be, to each
his own things on the video. To me, just don't compute as sport.
But hey, maybe my son oneday will That's what I was going
to say. One day your sonand my daughter are to be winning gold
medals for their Olympic contributions. Kyleis already a part of an NCAAE sports
game league. I looked at itlike it was crazy at first, too,

(05:09):
but now I'm like, you knowwhat, game on thoughts on gaming
being an Olympic sports eight sixty sixWASHFM, the number one talk back Micropunt's
wide open for you too. Ifyou're signed into your iHeart app, tell
us what you think about it beingan Olympic level sport and coming up in
just minutes will get you in theright mindset to take on this Thursday with
your morning mindset. Here at ninetyseven point one washem ninety seven point one

(05:31):
wash CHEFM, Toby and Chilly inthe morning. How is your mindset today?
Let's take a quick look at it, shall we? And we're gonna
do that with a quote that youhave found to share with everyone from the
great one Serena Williams, who says, get up, get off TikTok,
work hard, find out how capableyou are, be great, be so
great they don't want to believe inyou. Then be even greater. I

(05:56):
don't know how you add to that, mic drop, but Serena Williams makes
an incredible point. Get up,get away from your screen, work hard,
find out how capable you are,be great, be so great that
they don't want to believe in you, and then be even greater. So
reach for greatness today, put thescreen down and go and get it.

(06:19):
And if they don't want to believein you, be even greater than anyone
ever imagined. It's your morning, mind said for this Thursday, the twenty
fifth day of July. Coming upin just a few minutes. As Toby
and Chilly in the Morning continues,we'll take a look at some entertainment news.

his decision to drop out of theelection. He said the best way forward
for the country is to quote passthe torch to a new generation. Biden
outlined his administration's accomplishments and vowed tofocus on his role as president over the
next six months. Multiple agencies reportingarrests during a day of pro Palestinian protests

(09:05):
around DC. Nine arrests were reportedby DC police, eight by US Park
Police, and six by US CapitolPolice, and then a group of protesters
were pepper sprayed by US Capitol Policeofficers after allegedly refusing to move back from
a police line. The search ison for a bank robber in Alexandria,

(09:28):
police saying a man walked into aP and C Bank branch in the Old
Town area Tuesday afternoon and was ableto take money from a teller before fleeing
the scene. Olympic gold medalist DominiqueDawes now has a statue in her honor
in Silver Spring, which, bythe way, happens to be her hometown.
She also graduated from the University ofMaryland back in two thousand and two,

(09:50):
and according to a recent survey, fifty eight percent of adults have witnessed
increase housing costs over the past fiveyears, and thirty nine percent frequently feeled
like they are stuck living where theyare. Many are also concerned about the
affordability of housing, crime, andmaking home repairs. Forecast for today cloudy

(10:11):
and humid, a chance of storms. Highs around eighty three. Right now
seventy two in College Park. Aboutan hour ago, we were talking about
the Olympics and new sports, specificallythe addition of East sports and gaming to
the Olympics. Yes, that's right. A gold medal in Rocket League or
perhaps a silver medal in Call ofDuty. Yes, this could be a

(10:33):
thing. They've greenled it. You'vegot thoughts we want to hear from you.
Talkback microphone wide open. If you'resending to your iHeart app, tell
us what you think about this.I'm sure you have. Some thoughts got
to be sent into the app touse it. Tap Speaks and we'll get
into it next week. The Greatis from Arlington. You had some thoughts
to share this morning. What's onyour mind. I'm just curious as to
how or why you think that itrequires athleticism to be a gamer. That

(10:56):
doesn't make sense to me. Oh, I don't know. I don't know
that they're all sitting down and there'sa lot of hand eye coordination and there's
a lot of skill that goes intothat. I've watched these gamers play.
They're pretty serious, man. Yeah, but serious and athleticism is different.
And I thought the Olympics were aboutathleticism and body movement and all that and

(11:18):
being able to do certain things.I think that might have been the case
once upon a time, but nowI think it's more about the spirit of
competition. Oh my. And ifthat's the case, then it makes perfect
sense that the sports and gaming wouldbe a part of the Olympics. So
I think what they're doing, littleby little is they're redefining what the Olympics

(11:39):
are about. Traditionally it's about sportsand athleticism, and they're shifting to a
more competitive nature. If that makessense, that makes total sense. They
didn't have snowboarding back in you know, ancient Greece when the Olympics began.
But see that still requires athleticism.I mean, being a snowboarder is not
just sitting there with your thumbs.I mean, come on, I don't

(12:01):
know. You gotta be in prettydecent shape to be able to play these
NonStop marathon Rocket League games. Well, I can tell you my son sitting
in front of screen is not ingood shape. I don't know, and
Chili comes home with a six figuresponsorship. You're telling me that my son,
if he's a couch potato, isgoing to be in great shape.
I'm just saying, there's a reasonwhy I have sports are the second most

(12:24):
watched professional sporting event next to theNFL globally. Nobody's doubting that it's popular.
We're just sitting here scratching our headswhy it even belongs in the Olympics.
That's all athleticism. Sometimes that athleticismis mental. You have to work
that mental muscle out. I thinkthat's ridiculous. You think it's ridiculous.

(12:45):

sales pitch. I don't know ifI was offended, or if I was
embarrassed, or maybe it's a combinationof all of these fears. But this
happened, Maybe it's happened to you. What went down? We'll talk about
it next. Hang with Toby andChillian in the morning you ever have somebody
try to sell you something and thenin the process they either offend you,

(17:11):
embarrass you, make you angry, make you feel some sort of way accombination
of all of the above. Tobyand chilling in the morning. It's ninety
seven point one wash FM, eightsix six wash FM, the number one,
the phone number. This happened tome the other day when I went
to pick up some compression socks thatI needed a prescription for, and so
I had to go to a medicalsupply store to fill the subscript the subscription,

(17:34):
and so the woman took my insurance, you know, like people do,
like when you go to the drugstore or any of these places,
they fill out your insurance, theyrun and find out how much they're going
to get off of you, etcetera, et cetera. Woman tells me
to sit down in this seat,Chilli. I sit down in the seat,
and I'm like, if I fallasleep, you know, wake me
up. Because it was, youknow, after the show. Yeah,

(17:55):
sure, I was tired, andI come back. It was a comfortable
chair, no life, I'm back, a very comfortable chair. The woman
goes, oh, I have tofill out this thing here, but she
reaches down and she turns on somesort of like massage thing. Oh,
very nice comfortable chair. Perfect greatchair. Then she comes back and she's
like, you like that chair. She's like, you know you could have

(18:15):
that delivered today. She's like,we sell these chairs, we rent them,
we do rent to own. AndI'm like, okay, well,
why is that offensive? Well chili, because then she showed me that it
has like a get up out ofthe chair command function oh, which picks
you up bummed first and helps tohelp you stand erect coming out of the
chair like this, And I waslike, I'm capable of getting up on

(18:38):
my own, Thank you very much. I will say these chairs are magnificent.
My dad has one because he hasreally bad arthritis in his knees and
so he doesn't have to hurt himselfgetting up. The woman mentions to me
that you know, it's weight ratedup to this much weight and I'm like,
what are you trying to say?Oh? Totally, And then she

(19:00):
puts like this leg thing up andshe's like, well, you are here
for compression socks. You need tokeep your leg elevator. You could sit
in the living room enjoy TV andoh my goodness, did you leave with
said chair at all? Are youkidding me? I got my socks and
I left. I was like, what are you trying to say? That's

(19:22):
why I bring it to you toI don't know what this woman was trying
to get it, but I leftfeeling some sort of way. She was
trying to get. Commission is whatshe was trying to get. And you
looked very happy in said chair.I was happy in the chair. Comfortable
doesn't mean I want it, andI certainly don't know that I have a
problem getting up out of the chair. But that's neither here nor there.
Have you ever had that happen toyou? Six six wash CHEFM the number
one eight six six ninety two sevenforty three sixty one. Somebody offend you,

(19:45):
make you feel some sort of waywhile trying to sell you something,
even if that was guilt. Tellus your story. We love listening to
them. Here at ninety seven pointone was CHEFM, and we love listening
to your crazy first date stories likeNancy and Gaithersburg, who has quite the
story to tell us about a dateshe went on. Yeah, her date
did something very bizarre with popcorn atthe movie theater, very bizarre. Indeed,

(20:08):
wait till you hear what happened next. It's Toby and Chilly's crazy birth
date Nancy and Gaithersburg. Good morning, Chili, and I cannot wait to
hear this story, so lay iton us. So I was going on
a first date with my best friend'sroommate and we went to a movie and
he bought this extra large bucket ofpopcorn, which he devoured on his own.

(20:32):
And then at the end of themovie, he decided, as we
were leaving, he walked down allthe rows and people that had not finished
their popcorn. He took it andpoured it into his empty bucket. Wow,
and filled up his bucket with otherpeople's abandoned popcorn well to take it
home for his roommates. Oh lord, that's a help yourself doggy bag here.

(20:53):
I thought you were going to sayhe was just trying to prevent littering
good grief. So as he's doingthat, are you making fun of him?
Are you saying anything or asking him? I think I was in shock.
I think I did say, whatare you doing? Like you don't
know somebody what they did in thatbag of popcorns? You know, popcorn
is a bit too intimate and personal. What did Freddie Frugel have to say

(21:15):
for himself? That's exactly I thinkwhy he was doing it, because he
was Freddy Frugal. Surely love him. Yeah, I was like, I
wonder if they know that this isa habit of his, that he's basically
bringing other people's finger touch popcorn.I think. So did you guys continue
or was that the end of theday. At that point I saw him

(21:36):
again because he lived with my bestfriend, so the roommate actually ended up
marrying him. He kind of grewon me, but we are not together
any longer, so than kind ofrealized this guy's kind of crazy. He's
the reason you filed for divorce becauseof his popcorn stuff, among other things.
Yes, did you ever tell theroommates about the popcorn and how he

(22:00):
brought them leftovers that first date?I did not, because the other part
of the story is I had drivento the movie and then when we got
back to his place, he leanedover to kiss me and spilled the whole
bucket in my car, and thenit was so embrare that he ran out.
Oh so you love to you witheverybody else's popcorn? I love this.

(22:22):
I can't believe you gave this anotherchance. I can't believe she divorced
him. Not wait a minute, yeah, I can't. Both of those
things are true. We'll be gladyou're done with him. I am hopefully
whomever you take to see this showwill not be into used popcorn. Absolutely,
that's fantastic. I'm so excited.Yeah, you're gonna get it.

(22:45):
I share Capital One Arena. Theydo sell popcorn. August twenty things to
our friends at Live Nation. That'sfantastic. Thank you so much. Hang
on, Nancy, we got toget some details from you, and you've
got a crazy first date. Wewould love to hear about it, whether
it was good or it could meantickets to go see Duran Duran at CFG

(24:42):
you went to a sporting event ormaybe any kind of live music event,
really anything that involves the word stadiumor arena. Have you noticed how expensive
things are? They're like overpriced ina lot of ways. That might have
come up in the news earlier todayIf it didn't, there's an interesting stat
floating around. We want to getyour take on it, and we'll tell

(25:03):
you what we think about this too, because it seems like the price of
everything's going up, and then youget to the ballgame that's on the way.
Stay with Toby and Chilly in themorning. Ninety seven point one watch
FM story going around the internet thismorning talks about how much things are starting
to cost you when you go tosporting events. Right, eight hundred and
seventy nine dollars and forty cents onaverage per year. That's crazy if you're

(25:27):
a hardcore fan going to these games. That's not that surprising. Things are
expensive. Everything is expensive. Thefirst thing that comes to mind is like
the popcorn at these places that coststhem like pennies to make, but it
costs like ten to fifteen bucks abucket. Why is that cup that costs
five to ten cents to make coststen dollars filled with some sort of beverage.

(25:51):
Yeah, I don't understand that.I don't get it. If it
was something that was one of akind, I'd probably pay it. But
maybe that's just me and I'm aglutton for punishment. The number is eight
sixty six nine two seven forty threesixty one. If you've got thoughts the
most overpriced thing at a sporting eventthat you've come across. Kyle listening to
us in Fairfax this morning, what'sup? It's got to be the beer.

(26:12):
It's like nineteen dollars for one cupof beer, and you're going to
buy it because what else are yougoing to do? What more? Toby
