the documentary on Netflix. Man.Her story is remarkable considering where she was
(00:46):
four years ago to where she isnow right and just her legacy and the
oldest twenty seven year old to winan Olympic gold medal. It's amazing when
you think of Simone Biles because younever really know what somebody's going through.
Now, add the pressure of theOlympic spotlight and all of that training and
a global performance to all of thatyou never know, and she's done it
(01:07):
with grace and dignity, so Ican see why you are feeling good for
me. It's not as involved andit's not as heady. I'm actually looking
forward to time permitting, because Iforgot we have a twelve noon gimmick today.

was calling a rugby match. Listento this, I need him that running
back he's got wheels who deals,he falls, he spills, but he
give us to his home and heget five or stay alive. That's why
I pointed out at Google's but thiswas France's first gold medal in the sport
(03:24):
they love. Get your groove, you know. It certainly brings the sports
that may not be getting as muchcoverage at the Olympics. A lot of
eyes, yes, because there's nothingbut a g thing baby. The Olympics
are the label that pays me.Snoop do double g under commentary faraise e.

your life with somebody that doesn't shareyour spending habit, that's just my thing.
I think it would lead to alot of fights. And I always
(09:43):
thought that financial reason was one ofthe main reasons for divorce. I mean,
what do you think. Do youthink are you attracted to somebody who's
opposite of you when it comes tofinancial spending and saving. I have found
that I am equally yoked when Iam very yin yang, which means my
significant other is very good at meat the details of the planning, the

My significant other don't operate that way, so we are different. But I
let her lead, okay for themost part. For the most part,

the ones that go into the landfilland then they promptly break down. They're

Top stories at the top of thehour, on the way and a few

has been killed. He was killedalongside his bodyguard in what Hamas called quote
a Zionist raid on his home inTehran. Officials from the Secret Service and
(13:28):
FBI faced are grilling on Capitol Hillover the assassination attempt against former President Trump.
Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rose saidthey have now ruled out new procedures
to prevent future security lapses, includingthe use of drones, and also a
new vetting process for security plans.US Park Police are asking for help identifying
people who were suspected of criminal activityin DC during last week's pro Palestinian protests.
(13:54):
Four of the suspects are accused ofvandalyzing federal property in Columbus Circle,
and one is wanted for assault ona police officer. DC's World War One
memorial nearly finished more than three yearsafter opening. Workers are assembling a nearly
sixty foot tall bronze statue titled aSoldier's Journey, and it's going to be
(14:16):
lit for the first time during aceremony September thirteenth. And Ozembic we all
know is initially meant to fight diabetes, and then people started using it to
lose weight. Now it may helpyou quit smoking. A new study found
that thirty two percent of people whoused ozempic and wigovi had decreased desire to
light up. Forecast for today partlycloudy skies, highs around ninety six heated
(14:41):
next of one hundred with the chanceof a storm later right now seventy three
degrees in Woodbridge. If you're aparent, there's nothing you wouldn't do for
your kids. If you're a girl, dad, you'd go just to step
further because well, you can't relate, you can't understand. Sometimes daughters ask
fathers to do the most insane things. What did my daughter ask me to
(15:03):
pick up at the drug store?Wait so you hear this coming up?
Oh, good things parents will dofor their kids. Toby at Chilly in
the morning on ninety seven point onewatch at them. It's bad enough if
you have a son, But whenyou have a daughter and you're a dad
and you like co parent and mom'snot around, and you get asked to
go run certain errands for certain girlthings, it gets awkward. And that
(15:24):
happened to me. It's safe waythe other day. So she asked you
to go get feminine hygiene products.Yes, pads, chili pads. I
didn't realize that. Number one, there are that many varieties of pads.
Wait, you've never had to purchasethese products for no girlfriend before? No,
I can't say that. Maybe Ihaven't had to get certain things for
(15:45):
girlfriends. But even then I kindof screwed it up. I got like
the wrong size, or I gotlike the wrong kind of thing, or
I don't like the ones that dowhat those do, Like I know what
they do. So apparently pads havewings and some have don't wings, and
some are natural and some have fragrances. I ask me, if I know
what I'm doing in that aisle? Why were you there? Though? Like?
(16:07):
Why did your daughter? Is thisthe first time she's ever asked you
to do that for her? Becauseyou're a single dad, you've lived together
aside from the first time when thechanges of life showed up and I had
to go stand in the isle andkind of like block her while she made
her choice. Okay, I feltlike secret service, secret dad service.
But like you know, this isone of those things where my daughter knew.
(16:27):
I was at the grocery store makinga run. I get this text
and she's like, hey, Ineed these, but make sure you get
these. And then I was concernedI would screw it up because had wings
was all natural, but I couldn'tfind exactly the same wrapping of the stuff.
And I was like shooting her picturesleft and right, and I just
(16:48):
don't know what I'm doing in thataisle. I don't belong there. It
was very weird for me. Maybeit's more feelings than actually getting the side
eye looks for being I don't know. I I mean, I'm impressed that
she felt comfortable enough to ask herdad. I in a million years would
never have felt comfortable asking my dadto do such things. So that's cool
(17:10):
on her part that she felt comfortableenough to do that. You feeling lost
in that aisle, You're not theonly guy who doesn't know what they're doing.
And I don't know why. Ikind of get why men are awkward
about buying it, but you alsohave brothers and not sisters, Like I
think the men who grew up withsisters certainly know and are not as weird
about that. Then. I mean, it's kind of like when your son
(17:32):
turns like sixteen seventeen, starts shaving, he's gonna want his own shaving cream.
He's gonna want something that's different thandad's. Okay, hold on a
second, that might be kind ofmaybe someone there's no awkwardness though about buying
shaving cream. You're talking about feelinguncomfortable in an aisle. I can't imagine
by having to buy any product frommy child that's gonna make me feel the
(17:52):
same way you feel in that aisle. And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I
can't think of something that would makeme feel uncomfortable, So feel free to
call it ye. You have torun one of these errands for like a
daughter in your life or significant otherall of the above. How did you
cope? Eight sixty six washupm Thenumber one eight six six ninety two seven
forty three sixty one and the talkbackmicrophone also works if you're signed into your
(18:14):
iHeart app. What do you doin this situation, because personally, I
don't want to be back in thataisle anytime soon, not without some instruction.
Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninetyseven point one wash at them we're
next. We're going to talk abouta life event that caused you to make
a change to your life or changeyour perspective right, changed your perspective on
things. Everything happens in life fora reason. What was one of those
(18:37):
for you we'll discuss coming up.Is there a life event, something that's
happened in your life that has madeyou change your perspective on this life?
Let's talk about it right now ateight sixty six washupm the number one eight
sixty six, nine two, sevenforty three sixty one talk back microphone open
for your stories too, if you'resigned into your iHeart app or Toby and
Chilly in the Morning here at ninetyseven point one wash FM. This comes
(19:00):
up because Kevin Smith, Silent Bobof the Jane Silent Bob movies and Clerks,
and perhaps maybe you remember him inthat role. He was talking about
a life event that made him makesome changes at Comic Con recently. Yeah,
so back in twenty eighteen, hesuffered what a lot of people call
a widow maker heart attack. Hesomehow survived that, and it was like
boom, total perspective change, makeshis health a priority, lose his weight,
(19:23):
and he says it's still a struggleevery day to put yourself first.
But that was such a jarring thingthat happened to him that it completely changed
him. Yeah, when you realizeyou are, indeed you and I both
living on borrowed time. Now,is there something in your life that made
you change your perspective? Chilling?Aah. Too many to think of,
but one that just came to mind. When I was living alone in a
(19:47):
town home in Tyson's I was robbed. I wasn't home at the time,
thank god, but I came homefrom work to a completely ransacked house,
a bunch of stuff stolen. Andit was so shocking to me because I
aha, assume that I was ina quote unquote good neighborhood, and it
is a good neighborhood, but thatdoesn't mean that you're always going to be
okay. So my perspective changed, and that anything can happen to you anywhere.
(20:12):
Humm, what about you that's deep. Yeah, having deep thoughts this
morning with Toby and Chilly. Inthe morning, it was saying goodbye to
my grandmother in the hospital in CorpusChristy when she was at the end of
her life. This was as shewas fading into the world of Alzheimer's and
that confusion that comes. I hadthe chance to fly in to basically say
my goodbye, and realizing in thatmoment as I just kind of whispered in
(20:37):
her ear a few thoughts which willstay between my grandmother and myself, I
realized that the mantle of leadership inour family was passing to a new generation.
And I don't know where it wasgoing to pass, but I just
felt like, you know, it'ssomebody's got to be there to keep the
family together. And normally it wasthis this iconic woman who was graceful and
(20:59):
power full and just a leader, but kind and good yet she was tenacious.
I'm like, well, man, those are big shoes to fill.
Let you know what I'm gonna try, because that's what she would have wanted
me to do. And so Ijust try every day now to meet that
mantle that was passed, and Imay drop it along the way, but
(21:19):
I'm gonna try anyway. So thatmade me shift my perspective on life when
I realized that my life isn't myown, that family is more important than
I thought it was at the time. There's just a whole host of reasons
and we could go into them. But you know what, let's hear from
you about your life event that madeyou change your perspective. It could be
anything. Just want to hear yourstory. At eight sixty six wasch FM
(21:42):
the number one eight six, six, nine two, seven forty three,
sixty one, top stories, Topof the hour. Jama's political leader Ismael
Honeye has been killed alongside his bodyguardin his home in Iran, and Hamas
has blamed an Israeli airstrike for thedeath. The Biden administration announcing another round

emailing borrowers who have at least oneoutstanding federal student loan. Police in Montgomery
County trying to identify six suspects connectedto an attack on four homeless people.
This happened at Veterans Plaza in SilverSpring July sixteenth, and they have released
a video of the suspects. SixFlags Theme Park in Maryland's got a new

had led to the policy change.Alexandria rolling out a photo challenge asking people
to submit their best pictures throughout thecommunity. They're encouraging folks to take pictures

a gift bag filled with prizes andtheir photos will be featured on the City
of Alexandria's social media accounts. Wedo have the details for the contest at

tries to book. The seat thebest one one A that's the first class
(23:11):
bulkhead windows seat, the favorite overall. That's followed by seven A and seven
F. There are also windows seatsthat offer plenty of leg room. But
in coach forecast for today party cloudyhighs around ninety six. Do you have
a chance of an isolated storm lateron? Right now seventy four in Montgomery
Village. Tell us about a lifeevent that changed your perspective on this thing
(23:34):
we call life eight six six nineteenseven forty three sixty one the number eight
sixty six wash FM, the numberone, and you can also tap the
talkback microphone if you're souned into youriHeart app. Tell us your story.
Just send us that voice note. We'll get back into this next. What
is a life event that made youchange your perspective on life. We're talking
(23:55):
about it this morning at ninety sevenpoint one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the morning, and you can getin eight sixty six wash up in the
number one, or you can tapthe talkback microphone at your son into your
iHeart app and tell us what itis that caused you to make a change.
This is based on a story KevinSmith, the actor who plays Silent
Bob in the movies. He wasat a comic con talking about how he
(24:17):
assumes now that he's living on borrowedtime. That's because he suffered a horrible
heart attack back in twenty eighteen, almost killed him and it changes perspective on
life. Lacy in Fairfax, youhad one of these moments. What's up.
One event that really shifted my perspectiveon life is when I traveled through
our remote village and saw just howcontent and happy people were with very little
material possessions, and maybe realized theimportance of gratitude and simplicity in life.
(24:41):
You make such a good point. It's so true, like when you're touring
other countries or other islands, theydon't have as much as we do here,
and yet big all smiles on theirfaces. They're happy. They making
five dollars a day selling you chicklets, and they're happy. Lacey, thank
you for taking a part this morning. Now to d C. Patricia,
(25:02):
how are you doing this morning?Heartbroken? Can tell me what event in
your life made you change your perspectiveon life and did it have something to
do with this heartbreak? Well?I had. I was with someone and
then we found out when we firstgot skipped that they had cancer. And
I was there every day through thejourney, and at the end I didn't
understand why they pushed me away. You know, I guess they didn't want
(25:25):
me to go through as much agonyas you know they were going through.
Now that he's gone, I understandhe was protecting me, and it just
changed my life because life is notproming and it just made your life through
the fullest and just take the memoryand just churish them. I'm so sorry
for your lost Patricia, but Ilove that you found peace in your heart
(25:47):
and understanding as to why he wasdoing what he was doing, because I
think if you had held on toany kind of anger, you'd feel so
much worse. Right now, I'llget through it. It's just hard right
now because he just left me Saturday. Oh well, you know what,
if you need anything, you knowwhere we are. Thank you so much,
Nic Sad and I appreciate you.I don't know how much we can
do, but I could say somethings that are goofy. I listen every
(26:11):
morning so I get them, andyou already understand the goofiness of this program.
Yes, thank you so much.On more Toby and Jilly, head
