Toby and Chili mornings on demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wash Up out.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number. It's ninety seven point one, Wash up Them,
Toby and Chili in the morning. So worre's place you've
ever found an insect? There's a story coming to us
out of the Carolinas about roaches that got very what's
the word do you used?

Speaker 4 (00:20):
A second ago? Resourceful?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (00:22):
They were found hiding out in a coffee pot, so
they survived the flood.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
No wonder, roaches are hard to kill.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Good lord, No roaches know how to survive. That's why
they were roaches. They've been around forever. Strangest place you've
ever found an insect the bug.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
We used to keep our shoes in the garage. We
no longer do that because creepy crawley things will go
up in there and hang out. So when I went
to put a shoe on, no, thank you, never happening again.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Speaking of the creepy crawley things, I remember being in
the buff and the shower and some sort of a weird,
million legged kind of creature bug came clombing and climbing
up through the drain and I looked down at it
and I'm like, no, you're not getting on me. Not well,
I'm in my birthday suit. So I turn off the
shower and I forced the stream down the you know,
the the water just whoa it hopes that it would

(01:10):
wash the bug down the drain. I'm assuming it did,
because that bug disappeared. If that bug didn't go down
the drain, I don't know where that bug went, but
that bug deserves to live if it got away from that.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
But bugs they pop up in the darnedest places.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Worst place you ever found an insects Stephen and Oxen Hill,
Good morning God.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
I was on laying in bed and I felt a
tickle on my leg and when I threw the blankets
off of me, there was one of those giant house
sunipeds just crawling up my legs.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Ah, what'd you do?

Speaker 6 (01:41):
I completely flipped out and had to strip the bed.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I'll never forget that, Thank you, Steven.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
They're R and D two people who freak out when
it comes to bugs, so much so that they have
to get rid of something like the sheets, completely change
over the bed. Then you forgot to say do the laundry,
and then do the laundry again just because you've got
to get all the bug off your sh sheets. We've
all been there, Leslie. Thank you for waking up with
us in Rockville this morning. You found a bug? Where

(02:07):
was it?

Speaker 4 (02:07):
What happened?

Speaker 7 (02:08):
I have got to say the worst was when I
found one in my mouth after taking.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
A big bite of my sandwig.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
I'm guessing that wasn't the protein you asked for.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah, but if you dip it in chocolate, I mean,
don't knock it. So you tried it to some people,
that's a delicacy. No thanks, I mean, from what I've
read about on the Internet of things, I'm not into
chocolate covered bugs, nor am I into bugs in anything
that involves food. But hey, thank you for your story
this morning. And if you've got something to add to
the conversation. Eighty six y six WASHUFM the number one?

What is the quote today from Tony who.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Says, no matter how many mistakes you make or how
slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone
who isn't trying. Yeah, you might make some mistakes, you
could even fail. That's fine. It doesn't matter how slow
you're moving. You're still moving and that is faster than
anyone who isn't trying. You might make mistakes, that's okay.

(03:22):
You make mistakes because you're trying new things. Keep that
in mind from Tony Robbins today, as you go through life,
no matter how many mistakes you make or how slow
you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who
isn't trying. And if that helps, send it to someone
who might need it, just like you did. Find it

About the weirdest place you ever found an insect.

Speaker 8 (07:56):
Hi, I am an lady. I'm coming from Booi, Meland.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I once moved.

Speaker 8 (08:01):
I had had to move out of my house temporarily
because of a big bag I found in my house
because one of my nightmare is a bag falling on
my face while I see. I literally moved out of
my house back to my parents' home, and I said
they needed to get rid of it. They had to
call semi gatas or whatever.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
Get rid of it.

Speaker 8 (08:19):
I just could not be in that house.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Wait.

It was one bug that made you move out of
a house because one, have you.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Moved hundreds of times?

Speaker 5 (08:29):
Because I can't imagine a bug this environment?

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Or have you gotten over your phobia? That's that's extreme.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Because I'd be on house seventy five by now.

Way, Top Stories top of the Hour, President Biden is
expected to visit some of the communities this week that
were ravaged by Hurricane Helene. He said the government will
continue sending help to the region for as long as
it takes.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
A fock.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Your County couple is collecting supplies they plan to fly
two areas affected by the hurricane. Jeff Locke is a
private pilot who plans to use his plane to fly
essential items to three occasions in North Carolina and one
in Tennessee, but he and his wife are also looking
for other pilots who might be.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Willing to do the same.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
A DC woman is facing charges after allegedly reporting a
series of false emergencies using nine to one one. Police
say that fifty eight year old Angela Herring falsely reported
a fight, a chemical use incident, and two shootings between
August and November of last year and May and July
of this year. So a cell phone service in Fairfax

(11:29):
County is impacted by fiber line issues. You may have
received a message on your phones yesterday. I means some
residents may experience trouble when trying to call for help.
So the Fairfax Gunty government is telling people with issues
attempting to call emergency services to text nine one one instead.
And while it Hub just came out with their list
of the greenest cities in the US. They were judged

(11:53):
on factors including green job opportunities, water quality, community garden
plots per capita, and average commute time by car Number
one the greenest city of San Diego. But right behind
that is DC forecast for today partly cloudy seventy five,

whatever's on your mind. It'll come to us here in
the studio. You can also goll eight sixty six nine
two seven forty three sixty one. That's eight sixty six WASHFM.
The number one. How did mom and dad or your caregivers?
How did your parents embarrass you? Or if you're a

(12:32):
parent or a caregiver, how did you embarrass the kid
in your life? Either way, gotta have some interesting stories
on this one. We'll tell you a couple of ours, because,
believe it or not, Jilly and I have been embarrassed
by our parents we'll tell you how coming up in minutes,
and of course you have a seat at the table
and a voice, so feel free to join the conversation
this Thursday morning.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
We'll get into it coming up. If you've ever been embarrassed.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
By a parent, or maybe you've been embarrassed before and
you've had some sort of interesting story is the result
of it. It's something we would love to hear about
this morning. So have you ever been embarrassed by your parent?
Maybe you've been a kid who's been embarrassed recently eight
sixty six ninety two, seven forty three sixty when this
comes up because I guess Melanie Griffith said something very

(13:16):
embarrassing about her daughter, Dakota Johnson, who you might recognize
from acting in front of President Obama.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Yeah, so Melanie brought up an underwear scene that Dakota
was in while she was filming Social Network.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
And of course Dakota's mortified.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
It's like, why are we talking about me in my
underwear in front of a former president? And that seemed
harmless enough, But I can see why she would be
embarrassed that ever happened to you, uh a parent embarrassing me?

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Sure I would always get.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
Uncomfortable and embarrassed. And I know they were doing it
because they were proud when they would immediately tell somebody
in the family an accolade that I may have achieved,
you know, while I'm.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Staying, oh, and did you know that? She just did it?

Speaker 5 (14:03):
And I'm like, okay, you know what, let's not let's
not go there. Thank you very much, And to the state.
It still makes me a little uncomfortable and embarrassed.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Even talking about being embarrassed by my parents makes me
think of this picture of me laying on a blanket
with my butt out naked as a baby. I don't
know why my parents would pull that.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
That wait, like when girlfriends come by, it's like, oh.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Well your girlfriends, people like, it's just me as a baby,
a baby toady laying there with his bum out, And
I don't know why they thought that was fun or cute.
But even to this day it embarrasses me to the
point that I freeze thinking about it. I don't know
why I have such trauma because of this, but it's
and there's nothing like, you know, well, at least with

(14:45):
your parents, like you had your parents kind of doting
on you, you know what I mean. They're like, she's
done this, She's done really great for me. It was
a baby with his bum out. I'm like, mom, Dad,
really why.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
That was the last time they you know, at least
it's not a birthday suit from.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Later in life. You don't want that being exposed.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
No, I think now it probably jinks that it's going
to come out of Christmas or something. Does this ever
happened to you? Have you ever had your parents embarrass you?
Maybe you had a caregiver embarrass you. Maybe you embarrassed
a kid in your life?

Speaker 4 (15:17):
What'd you do? Tell us everything?

Speaker 3 (15:19):

something very peculiar?

Speaker 3 (15:42):
What does this mean? And what was she wearing or
what wasn't she wearing? You'll find out.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
It's Toby and Chili's crazy first date.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
All right, Adam and Bethe's doe. What happened on this
first date?

Speaker 9 (15:53):
Got a girl on a dating app. We hit it
off pretty normally. We went to dinner at a seafood restaurant,
and before I knew it, she was dancing in the
middle of the restaurant with an octopus hat on and
seafood clothes, and it was just crazy.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Sober or had she been drinking at that point?

Speaker 9 (16:10):
This was before we even had any drinks or anything.
Then all of a sudden, she just put on these
random props and just was going crazy.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Well, maybe she was just feeling the spirit, a little
excited about the first date, and she had some nervous
energy to blow up.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
What do you say to something like that? You kind
of just kind of just laugh at it.

Speaker 9 (16:29):
To be honest, I really didn't have any better response
than that.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Did she ever sit back down and finish your meal?

Speaker 6 (16:35):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (16:35):
Yeah, right after her dance was over, you know, her
little jake, she sat down like nothing even happened.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
Had she not done that, would you have considered staying
and hanging out with her?

Speaker 2 (16:45):
From what you knew of her at that point.

Speaker 9 (16:47):
I mean, yeah, she was a very nice lady. You know,
we had a pretty good conversations going.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
It wasn't anything too weird, but uh, something like that.

Speaker 9 (16:54):
It's just a bit of a deal breaker for me personally.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Anybody want to see Mary J.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Blige and when they come to town on Mary's tour
next year, well we can get you tickets right now

Good morning in Urbana. So how are you embarrassed?

Speaker 7 (19:53):
So back in high school, I would have some parties
in my garage with friends, and there was this one
time when my mom and instead of like telling people
that they needed.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
To go home.

Speaker 7 (20:03):
She guards them and just rudely told everybody to leave immediately.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Was it because you guys were being too loud?

Speaker 7 (20:09):
I don't know she was hired or whatever, but I
just felt so embarressed.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Do you have to like be real careful about those
times when you embarrass your kid because it will come
back to haunt you in ways you have no idea
about yet until maybe years.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Later, especially in therapy.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
What is your name and where are you from?

Speaker 7 (20:26):
Hi?

Speaker 10 (20:27):
My name is Melissa and I'm calling from Heights Though, Maryland.
I'm a nineties kid and back in the nineties there
were these very popular deadim dresses that had the two
buttons on the shoulders. I was trying to take the
dress off, and I'm trying to take it off and
it got stuck, and my brother was obsessed with his
instant camera that he had just gotten, and he starts

(20:47):
taking pictures of the struggle as I'm trying to take
the dress off.

Speaker 7 (20:51):
And at first it's haha, it's.

Speaker 10 (20:52):
So funny, it's stuck, But then through the series of
photos to see my face going from it's so funny too,
I'm getting nervous too.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
I am mortified.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
The dress is stuck. My mom had to take scissors.

Speaker 10 (21:04):
A chance to cut the dress into pieces to take
it off. So my mom then made an album of
that series of like eight pictures. She takes it out
and just shows it to family members or friends.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
I'm in my late.

Speaker 10 (21:17):
Thirties, but I'm still always so mortified by that series
of pictures of her just cutting me out of my
favorite dress, thinking it's the funniest thing ever.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Revenge will be sweet if you ever get your mom
in a compromised position.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
It's funny. Now, Thank you, guys.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
