Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.
Why shout that, Well, it.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Goes without saying. The reason we're all feeling good this
morning before five is the play of the Washington Commanders.
But specifically for me Chilly this morning, it's Jayden Daniels.
The soul of this guy is the reason why I
think all of his antics on the field that twenty
three are winning awards and getting the recognition of the league.
And I think it's because of a picture that went
viral that I saw and maybe you saw this too,
(00:25):
because I know we're both feeling good about these Commanders today.
The man took off his shoes, signed him and gave
him to a little girl, and the picture went viral.
This guy who's having all of this success has not
lost sight of the human being that he is. If
he can keep that up, this guy, I'm not saying
he will walk on water, but he will continue to
(00:47):
be one of the if not the future quarterback of
the National Football League. Like we're talking on that Tom
Brady eschelon, you know what I mean, Yes, Like he's
got that within him. But anyway, that's a great thing.
Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point
one wash FM, So why are you feeling good before
five o'clock this morning?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
We had a wonderful visit to the American History Museum
over the weekend with our son. We for the first
time tried one of those sensory friendly opportunities.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
How to go.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Great, there was only like twenty families.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
That's even better. It's like having a whole museum to yourself.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
We kind of did. Yeah, so it's based Well, it
doesn't happen every single month at this museum, but there
are some museums and places in the DMV certain days
they offer you an opportunity to go before it opens
to the public for a sensory friendly reasons. And yeah,
it was pretty crazy. It felt very VIP. It was
(01:47):
very weird.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Actually they are VIP. You know that chill you and
the family. Come on now, parents with sensory sensitive kids.
I mean that's important. Yes, only in this town can
you get free music and have a quarterback that has
the potential to walk on water, so to speak, metaphorically speaking.
Not liking jading Daniels to any sort of deity that
(02:08):
would be sacrilegious. Yes, on this the seventh day of October.
But wow, lots of reasons to feel good this morning.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. We are Toby
and Chilly in the Morning. Welcome to a brand new day,
in a brand new week. Are you feeling some aches
and pains? Are you feeling like there are things as
you get older that maybe you don't like as much

for waking up with us shopping, going to the mall
and shopping with no agenda. That is something that I
have started to dislike as I've grown otly For Toby
(02:53):
and Chilly in the Morning, it's ninety seven point one
wash FM. If there's something that you dislikes, you have aged,
it's okay to talk about it here. This is a
safe space. Eight six six nine two seven forty three
sixty one. Toby and Chili in the Morning. That's the
number talk back also works. Is there something that you've
yes the gun to have a disdain for as you've
grown older? Chili?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
It hit me. I guess it was on Friday, right,
We got an email saying that they happen to have
a couple of extra tickets to go see Sabrina Carpenter
at a CFG Bank arena, and yeah, I was like no,
And it was on a weekend, so I couldn't even
use like, oh it's on a weeknight excuse. I think
as I've gotten older, I just I don't like to
do concerts anymore. It's too much of a hassle. It's
(03:35):
too loud. I don't know what it is.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Oh no, if it's right concert, I'll take the day
off the next day for it. I'll mysteriously get sick.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Well yeah, but I don't want to play with Let
me put karma that it would have to be like
an Adele situation. Does that make sense? It would have
to be a very unique artist. Maybe they're about to
retire situation.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Right, And Sabrina Carpenter, she's going to be around from
a minute. I mean, girlfriend's on top of her game
right now. That'll be another show to see what's Sabrita
Carpenter eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one. Allison,
Good morning in Tacoma Park. So what you have a
disdain for? What now?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I really hate phones at the table and I feel
like I sound like my mom, but like it reallys
me off. And my friends are like messing around on
their phones when we're all having drink.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I can understand going out and not feeling like you're
important because somebody's too tied into what's going on on
their phone. That can be a problem. It wasn't a
problem when you were younger, but I can see how
that becomes a thing now.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Although if I were with you, Allison, I would apologize
and put it away.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Sam and Arlington, what say you this morning?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Going to the grocery store when it's really busy?
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah, that could be really annoying, those long lines. So
what do you do?
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I just want to scream and run out of the place.
Amazon Prime Delivery now available with Amazon.

(05:08):
needs to hear it. It's ninety seven point one watch
FM Toby and Chilly in the morning, and we've reached
that time on this Monday morning.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
So what quote inspired you to share? Everyone?
Speaker 2 (05:17):
From Julie Andrews, perseverance is failing nineteen times in succeeding
the twentieth. You know, that's the thing about finding success
in life, whether it's later on in life or early
in life. Maybe it's a dream that becomes an idea,
or a side hustle that becomes a job. You're gonna fail,
(05:39):
embrace it, but press on. Perseverance is failing, Julie Andrews
says nineteen times and succeeding the twentieth. That time you
try today after countless failures might just be the time
that gets you beyond shark tank and you get invited
to be one of the sharks. And that would not stink.
Keep that in mind today as you start this brank
(06:00):
new week Toby and Chilly in the Morning. I hope
it helped. If you need it, find it Toby and
chilipage WASHFM dot com. And if you've got something to
share with the class, do so send it our way

inspired you, it'll inspire us. And we love it when

Just that.

we love hearing from you. Here. What's Toby and Chilly
in the morning? Study out says the ten most boring
things in life include the following, not having Wi Fi, politics,
(10:31):
accepting cookies. Yep, I'll tell you that's extremely boring. Junk
mail is on the list. I don't know about you,
but like that is the biggest waste of time for
me every week is when I go through the actual
snail mail and I throw away the junk.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Do you think that you spend eighty five minutes a
day feeling bored? Like the study says the average person,
the average adult, that's a lot of time every day
over in almost an hour and a half every day
just being bored.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I want to have time to feel bored.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Well, that's what I'm saying, right, Yeah. No, So not
opening that email for an hour and now or.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
That meal, and I'm not opening the email for the
not the email, the mail, the snail mail for a
week on average, just because there's too much stuff going on.
So I don't know. Boring is a big broad word.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
When it comes to boring, I think of like this
is just like pulling tease.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yeah, like standing in line. For me, I can't stand it.
It is the most boring act just standing there, especially
when a line doesn't move quickly enough, right, Which is
why I'm kind of glad my kid isn't into amusement
parks because I would hate to have to go it.
Wait two three hours, You're not alone a sixty second ride.
(11:38):
It's just not the return on investment, isn't there.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
No, people feel that way when they wait in line
on something like I don't know, two seventy or sixty
six in the morning. It's it's waiting in line for
a I know.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Traffic is also boring.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, lines, lines, traffic, any kind of line is just
the thing for me. One of the things that made
the top ten on this list is something I didn't
mention earlier, and that's those video pre roll advertisements that
come on before the video you actually want to watch
on the Internet of Things before you can skip it. Oh,
I can't stand them. I've said straight up, I'll pay
good money to get rid of every having to have
(12:13):
those pre rolls ever again, and then I'm the sucker
that ends up on the commercial high there thanks to
what's it called rocket money. I've got all these subscriptions.
I don't know how I've got them, but I know this.
I don't have any advertisements. Yeah, I don't know. Is
there something that's boring to you that should be on
this list? What is it? You know where to find us?

Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
In the meantime, we're gonna play us a game. Here's
the question this morning.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
If you do this for an hour a day, you'll
burn one hundred and seventy calories. What is it?
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Mannheim Steamrollers come into town eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one. That is the number that
you need to call right now if you want to
win these tickets inm GM National Harbor coming up because
it's the holidays, man, I'm steamroller. Here's the question again.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
You do this for an hour a day, you'll burn
one hundred and seventy calories.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
What is it? If you know the answer, calling out,
we'll all learn something new together and you could win
with ninety seven point one wash FM eight sixty six

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Kelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Here's the question again, in case you missed it.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Do this for an hour a day and you'll burn
one hundred seventy calories. What is it?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Six six nine two seven forty three sixty one. That
is the number in Arlington. Hello Glenn, good morning. How
are you doing.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Good morning, I'm doing great.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
How are you much better now that we're talking to you?
Sound very chipper. Thank you for calling this morning. You've
got the question for the Manheim Steamroller tickets. What is
your guest?
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I think that you burn calories cleaning the house.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
What is your most strenuous tour around the house, Glenn Dustin.
I think I did it for the first time since
I moved into this apartment, and I was sweating so
much by the end of the baseboards take so much energy.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, they really do. I've read something about some sort
of dryer sheet trick for the base boards. I don't
know if it's true or not.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
I'll give that a try.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
And that's a good tip. Well if it works. If
it doesn't, then forgets. You heard it from me, you
heard it from somebody else.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
You got it. Congratulations, Cleaning the house is the correct answer.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
I'some.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Thank you so much man.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
I'm Steamroller. Tickets are yours MGM National Harbor. You're going,
Thank you, Live Nation, enjoy the show.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Thank you, and if you want to win tickets to
go see Mannheim Steamroller, be here same time tomorrow morning.
With another nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
It is ninety seven point one. Watch FM your news
Top stories at the top of the hour on the
way stay right.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
There, Top stories top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Hurricane Milton is gaining strength as it takes a I'm
at Florida forecasters expected to arrive in the state by
Wednesday afternoon. In case you missed in, a former Fairfax
County police officers was found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter
for a deadly shooting that happened outside Tyson's Corner Mall
(15:17):
last year while acquitting Wesley Schifflet of that charge, the
jury did find the former officer guilty of reckless handling
of a weapon in the death of Timothy Johnson. Multiple
events are going to be held around the district today
to remember the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.
A march and rally will be held at the National
(15:38):
Mall at noon. There will also be a memorial gathering
at Meridian Hill Park from six to eight pm, and
several Jewish groups are going to be holding a remembrance
event at seven pm at the Anthem in the district.
The Washington Commanders are now four and one after a
home win over the Cleveland Browns. Jadeen Daniels through for
two hundred and thirty eight yards in a touchdown in
(16:00):
yesterday's thirty four to fourteen win. And finally, if you
want to make the most of your nap, we'll then
drink coffee first, because here's how it works. If you
drink a cup of coffee and then take a twenty
minute nap, the caffeine, well, you know, it takes about
twenty minutes to kick in, so basically you'll wake up
just as soon as that caffeine, starts to work feeling
(16:21):
extra energized. Forecast for today the sun will come out,
it will be beautiful seventy two. The high right now
sixty two in Lantam.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
What is it that makes a party great? In your opinion?
Eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one,
eight sixty six wash FM the number one call us
let us know what you think. You can also jump
in via the talkback microphone. If you're signed into your
iHeart app this morning, just tap speaks send You get
like thirty seconds to send us a voice note. Tell
us what you've observed that makes a party great. We'll
(16:52):
explain why we're bringing it up and what we think
of some of these great party traits. Coming up next
toy in the morning on ninety seven point one wastch FM.
But you know what it takes to throw a good party?
What would that mean to you? What would be a
good party in your opinion? Eight sixty six nine two
seven forty three sixty one is the number. Feel free
(17:12):
to call and jump into this. They did some research
and they found that I guess people decide in the
first twenty minutes whether or not a party is going
to be good things like food are involved. Sixty eight
percent of people say an event is not as successful
if there isn't food to eat. Really, and I guess
people are impressed by good music, good conversations, food snacks,
(17:34):
and the right combination of people. Chilly thoughts on.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
This well, I will say the right combination of people
probably is higher on my personal list than food or beverage. Unfortunately,
I missed a party I was really looking forward to
over the weekend. It was a gathering of some of
my theater friends. We hadn't seen each other in twenty years,
and for me, that kind of party is a success
if you pick up where you left off and it's
(17:58):
like no time has passed. That trumps all food and beverage.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
What about you, there's a side of I think the
population who feel like any party is good if the
vibe is right, and you can tell pretty quickly if
that vibe is going to be right. I don't even
know that it takes twenty minutes, like the research found.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Is it less than twenty minutes free you much less?
Speaker 2 (18:20):
You can walk into a room and you can know
instantly if this is going to be a good time or.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Now and how much time do you give Let's say
it's not a good vibe, how much time do you
give before you exit said party? Be like I'm out
of here the Houdini move.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yeah, probably half an hour if I detect that the
ViBe's out right early on.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Okay, Well, that's still very generous of you. I will
say one of the most big the biggest pet piece
for me is when I'm hosting, at least when I
do not offer or don't get to offer someone of
beverage pretty quickly. I mean they're saying here within eight minutes.
Eight minutes is an eternity. You should be offering people
beverages with it, like three to four minutes, like hey,
canna get you something to drink?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
When you walk them in, Well, come on in downstairs.
There's the bar. You'll notice there's a bunch of food
on the bar. There's some more food on the table.
Have at it, enjoy exactly. It's all part of the
ambiance and the vibes. So I don't know that there's
a right answer or a wrong answer. There are just answers.
And if you've got an answer to the question, what
does it take in your opinion to throw a good party.
(19:24):
Tell us all about it. Tap the talk back microphone.
If you're signed into your iHeart app, you already got
it for free at your favorite app store, So make
an account, sign in, tap the button and leave us
a voice note. If you don't have time thirty seconds,
you can just tell us what's on your mind, or
you can call us at eight six six ninety two,
seven forty three sixty one, eight sixty six wash FM,
the number one. We look forward to hearing what it
takes to throw a good party from you in advance,
(19:47):
and thank you for listening to Toby and Chilly in
the Morning, where there is a flower Lady in lee's
Burg that's got a lot of people talking to me.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Yes, she is helping hunger one bloom at a time.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Find out who this woman is and why her story
might just make your Monday. Next, we go to Liesburg
for today's story that we think might just make your Monday.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM Toby and Chilly
in the Morning, where there is a grandmother known as
the Flower Lady.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Her name is Rachel Roberts, and for the past twelve
years she's been making bouquets from the flowers in her
garden to help Louden hunger.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Relief, an idea that came to her after she helped
out at her grandkid's school.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
The little girl said to me, I'm so hungry, and
it was nine point thirty in the morning, and I said, well,
it's kind of early.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Would you have for breakfast?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
And she said, I didn't have any breakfast, she said,
and I didn't have any dinner last night either, And
I thought, oh my, I gotta do something.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
And that's something included cutting, clipping and creating beautiful bouquets
and giving them to people for donations to feed the hungry.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
And according to Jennifer Montgomery, executive director of the loud
and Hunger Relief Program, she raised quite a bit of
money two.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Hundred thousand dollars since twenty and twelve.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Another reason Rachel is making our mondays because in the
past twelve years she's overcome some obstacles. She had to
have surgery on her hand, and she also battled breast cancer.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
But she presses on the world can stop in one minute,
or you can keep it going, so that people didn't
think that just because it's such a great community that
there isn't need, because there is.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
And meeting that need is exactly what Rachel the flower
Lady is doing, one bouquet of flowers at a times.
People like Rachel Roberts who make our community better. And
that's why this story makes our Monday. We hope it
makes sures too. If you'd like to read it again,
you can find it to tell me and chilipage WASHFM

twenty two percent would rather live with their parents again,

be known for? What would be your one thing? Eight six, six,
nine two, seven, forty three sixty one that's eat, sixty
six wash. If M the number one, talk back microphone,
wide open two, think about it, then hit us up,
leave us a message, give us a call. Let's talk
(23:54):
about this restaurant and why you would want to open it.
Coming up in minutes and we'll tell you why we're
bringing this up to two. So stay with One of
these small business loan companies did some research and they
were looking into restaurants. They found the most competitive restaurants
in the food business, state by state, and overall, steakhouses
on a national level face the most competition. So if
(24:16):
you're thinking of opening a restaurant, don't open a steakhouse,
or you might have some people trying to take you down.
It's ninety seven point one. Watch FM Toby at Chile
in the morning.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
The other thing that was surprising about this research was
that Spanish food has the least competition.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I mean, Spanish is the second most popular language in
the country, but there aren't a whole lot of Spanish restaurants.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
I hear you on the Spanish language thing. If I
could open a restaurant Chile, yeah, it's Spanish in origin,
but it's more Mexican. I would want like a real
legitimate Mexican Tamali place.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Oh, very specific to Tamali's. Different types of Tamali.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Well, yes, but I want the ones that are made
by the Obelis and an old gas station that they
converted into a Tomali kitchen where the woman has been
in there since before the sun rose making Tamali's. The
people come from miles around to eat. They don't have
those here. Okay, maybe I'm wrong. What about you?
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Oh, I would open a place that's very specific to
sharcuterie boards and having an adult beverage, so like boards
and booze or something. And then because you can have
savory charcuterie boards, you can have sweet charcuterie boards, but
just sitting down getting together with friends and sharing some
small bites.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Boards and booze. It eats more than just a wine bar. Yes,
it is ninety seven point one WASHFM and eight sixty
six nine two seven three sixty one. If you could
open a restaurant, what would the restaurant be Lacey and Warrington,
go ahead, good morning.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
I would love to create a cozy, plant based eatery
that focuses on comfort food. A plant based comfort food place. Yeah,
I don't think I've heard of those.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
All I know is you had me at comfort food,
Michael and Montgomery Village. You're up? What's up? I would
love to open a little burger joint that people just
love to visit.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Mind of Bob's Burgers, but you know, ideally a little
more successful. Gosh, the burger space feels a little crowded already, though.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Reminds me it's been a minute since I've had a
Steeze burger. I need to get one.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
What more.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
