Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one Wash Up Out, ninety seven point one washm It's
Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Producer Taylor Shay. I'm
sure that people across the DMV are thrilled and elated
even into this early hour of the morning because your
Washington Commanders are first place in their division. Who'd have
(00:23):
thunk after a big win yesterday?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, So I had had enough Bluey yesterday. I said,
we're turning on the football game and we were watching yesterday.
When I flipped it on, it was like twenty something
to zero, and I'm like, what team is this?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yay? I could you you and you turned off Bluey
to watch the Commanders dominate yesterday. I have to tell you,
I'm very very pleased with Marcus Mariota. Now, don't get
it twisted. I'm very very hopeful that Jaden Daniels gets
healthy and well that he's okay. But I will say this,
(00:56):
there's something to be said about the fact that they've
got Marcus Mariota on the bench. Is the QB too,
because he came in there and played like QB one.
So he's got me feeling good. This morning.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
What about you, Well, I might be done buying diapers.
We've been doing some potty training this weekend, and my
second born has just decided that he's done with diapers.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I think that there's a certain time and place when
little ones, while they're doing their potty training thing, where
the switch just flips and they're like, Okay, I'm done
doing that. I don't need your help anymore. I'm just
gonna take care of this on my own. Yeah, that
is how it happened. Well, that's good stuff. Well, congratulations
on the savings, right and not having to clean up
(01:41):
because boy, how many times have you pulled over on
the side of the road to take care of business
in the trunk? Mm hmmm, that is no point. Oh
but anyway, between the commanders and you know, potty training
and kids having Eureka moments that they don't want to
go in their diaper anymore, we're feeling pretty good this morning.
What about you? Eight six six ninety two, seven forty
(02:02):

at the TV, scaring the dog.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
But yeah, great game, good screaming and good yelling. Boy,
you're batting one thousand this weekend. Your kid's done with
pop training now the commanders, I think most of the
DMVs still kind of in a commander's hangover because they're
in first place in their division. James, good morning and
thank you for jumping in. So why are you feeling
good this morning? What's making you smile on a Monday.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I'm in such a good mood because I just finally
paid off my last car note and my car is
officially paid off.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
It's been five long years, but I am debt free
when it comes to a car.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
There's something about that. I'm free from a car note feeling. James,
thank you for jumping in this morning in Temple terristspreciate
you now, Leslie. Why are you smiling? What's making you
feel good this morning?
Speaker 4 (03:41):
I have been working on building social media for my
business and we just hit two thousand authentic followers on Instagram.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
That's going to make you feel good as you're headed
to work there this morning. Thank you so much, Leslie
for listening in Alexandria, and we've got time for you, Chris,
go ahead, good morning in Rockville. Let's see.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
My laptop finally died after ten years, but Sharon dipity.
Speaker 1 (04:08):

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Computer that I'd had my eye on to replace it
for a while, so that all worked out well.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Everything always works out for the good. And when it doesn't,
by the way, thank you for the call this morning.
If it doesn't work out, Chris, there's your morning mindset
words to inspire and help you start a brand new
day that's on the way and minutes stay with Toby
and Chilli in the morning on a Monday. It's ninety
seven point one washef M Toby and Chilly in the morning.
It's notty seven point one WASHFM. Where every weekday morning,
(04:38):
right around this time we pause to talk about you
and your headspace. We call this your morning mindset words
that hopefully will inspire you as you start a brand
new day and a brand new week. On this October
twenty first, otherwise known as Monday, Booker T. Washington says,
(04:59):
if you want to li lift yourself up, lift someone
else up. You know so often right, we bring people down.
We don't take the time to lift others up. Others
who do things for you, family members who take care
of your kids for you. Maybe you have a neighbor
who just lent you some eggs or something over the weekend.
(05:21):
I don't know, but they did something for you that
lifted you up, and in doing so, they lifted themselves up. So,
like Booker T. Washington says, this morning, if you want
to lift yourself up, lift up someone else. Did that
help We hope so, and if it did, you can
(05:41):
find it on the Toby and Chili page at washefm
dot com and send it to somebody who might need it.
That is your morning mindset for today this October twenty first,
at ninety seven point one, WASHFM producer Taylor Shay. What
do we have coming up next?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Is? Is?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Toby and Chili in the Morning continues.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Well, what are some places around the area that you miss.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
MM could be anything. Think of that one place where
you used to love to go to breakfast or brunch,
maybe you used to go shopping. We'll discuss, we'll talk
about some of our faves. We want to hear about
yours right now. Eight sixty six ninety two seven forty
three sixty one is the number. Feel free to call,
jump into the conversation, tap the talk back microphone. We'll
(06:23):
get into this. As Toby and Chilly in the Morning
continues on a Monday, I want to hear from you
about places in the DMV that you missed. They were here,
they're no longer here. Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. So eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one is the
number talkback is wide open. Producer Taylor Shay. You've lived
here about as long as I have. What's a place
(06:47):
in the DMV that you missed it is no longer here? Well,
the big one is Lake Forest Mall.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
It was so convenient to like Gathersburg, Rockville, Germantown, and it's.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Gone, no, no, no longer there. They're going to turn it
into apartments in a community. They tore it down. Yes,
I missed the Lake Forest them all. It was a thing.
I missed the House of Burnt Meat that used to
be downstairs first floor. We call it the House of
Burnt Meat because well they burned the meat at that
Brazilian barbecue restaurant that used to be on our first floor.
(07:22):
But it didn't matter because they had a bar, and
when you go to the bar, you're not really concerned
about whether or not things are burnt. So I missed
that restaurant that used to be there. So you missed
that there was a bar at the radio station. Well,
you know, these things were very convenient. Lots of people
loved that Brazilian barbecue. It's no longer a thing. I
(07:47):
shed a tear. What about you? Eight six six nineteen
seven forty three sixty one. Is there a local place
in the DMV used to be open no longer here?
You miss it, you will always miss it. You think
about it little longingly, and you think about the memories
that you made there. Tell us all about them. Call
us now tap the talkback microphone. We'll get to some
(08:08):
of your calls coming up in minutes as Toby and
Chilly in the Morning continues, and next want to talk
about how old is too old for tricker treating? Yep?
Is there a certain age where you need to just
not go knocking on doors in your neighborhood. We'll get
to this coming up in minutes. It's Toby and Chilly
(08:28):
and the want to continue to say out it is
six oh four in the Nation's capital. You've got Toby
and Chilly in the Morning. It's ninety seven point one
WASHFM on this Monday, October twenty first eight six six
nine two seven forty three sixty one is the number.
You can also tap the talkback microphone. Get involved. If
you're signed into your iHeart app, you'll see that mike
you tap speak send us a voice note about anything
(08:49):
you hear us talking about. We love hearing from you
here a diety seven point one Wash FM. So how
old is too old for tricker treating? We're closing in
on Halloween, the little ghouls and goblins running around the
neighborhood knocking on doors, trying to get the good candy
if they can, hoping they're not getting raisins from people,
(09:11):
you know when they go knocking on doors trick or treating?
But is there an age limit for it? Best producer
Taylor Shaded join me as we talk about this this morning,
and of course would love for you to call so
you can jump into the conversation. See. I don't think, Taylor,
that there's an age limit on having fun when it
comes to.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Halloween, right, I mean, there's no age limit at my house.
You want to go trigger treating in Damascus, come on over.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
So you're telling me that if I roll up to
your house at forty nine years old, are dressed up
in some sort of way, and I knock on your door,
you're trigger treat. You're gonna give me my candy.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Absolutely, there's no harm in it.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
People are out having fun.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
And let's say you know you get some older teenagers,
well they're not out making trouble.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
They're just out getting candy right now. I also will
point out taking the other side a little bit that
maybe there's a creep factor if you get to be
over a certain age. But I tend to believe in
the good in people, and Halloween is one of those
holidays to me, at least where you're having fun, where
(10:13):
you get to just let go dress up. We never
get to do that. And you know what if you
want to run through the neighborhood so you got kids,
it's it's like a core memory being made trick or treating?
You know what do you think? Eight six six nine
two seven forty three sixty one is the number of
talkback microphones wide open too. We always love hearing from
(10:34):
you your thoughts, especially when it comes to trick or treating.
How old is too old? We'll get to some of
your calls this morning here with Toby and Chili in
the morning at ninety seven point one wash FM, and
coming up in a few minutes two we're going to
talk about this. There's a local employer that says, yeah,
we know you've been teleworking, we know you've been working remotely,
but it's time to come back to work. And if
(10:57):
you don't come back to work, well quit your job.
How do we feel about that? Think about it? You
know the numbers of the place. We'll talk more about
this will tell you where the company is, because lots
of people are talking about its. Toby and Chilly in
the Morning continues on this Monday, come back to work
in person or quit ninety seven point one Wash FM,
(11:18):
where Toby and Chilly in the Morning say, you rolled
into work and you heard this mandate. What do you do?
The reason why we're talking about it is because Amazon
over at their headquarters in Arlington, had an all hands
meeting and they said, hey, if you don't want to
(11:38):
come back to work, if you don't agree with this
policy which says you need to be in office, there
are other places you can go. And that's okay if
you want to leave, because we want you to come
back into work. See you thoughts this morning. You know
the number to the place? Talkbacks wide open to producer
(11:58):
Taylor Shaye. What do you say.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
It's interesting because what works for one employee doesn't work
for the other. So the ultimatum across the board seems
very weird. Now, if you have employees that you know
are just not really working from home.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Maybe address it with them, But.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
The hard ultimatum company wide for a company so large,
seems a little drastic.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
I don't know. I kind of agree with the company,
I just and I know that I might not. This
is going to ruffle some feathers, but I believe in
the Golden rule. They have the gold, they make the rules.
There are reasons why they want people in person in
a workplaces. Could be collaboration, could be I don't even
(12:41):
know what the reason is. But it really isn't my
business what the reason is. Because if they have the
gold then they get to make the rules. And if
they say come in and work, then my job is
to come in and work. You know. That's a couple
of thoughts. What do you say? Eight sixty six ninet two,
seven forty three sixty one talk back my work better too?
If you're signed into your iHeart app, we love it
(13:02):
when you leave us notes. If you went into work
today and they had an all hands meeting and said, hey,
come back into the office, work full time or quit,
what would you do? We love hearing your thoughts.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Kelby m.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
I don't care little Nick Carter coming up show at
the Backstreet boy. I was an AJ fan. Interesting you
(16:24):
should say that I listened to the radio with my
cassette recorder ready to record this song. Now, I was
class of ninety three, but in nineteen ninety on your radio, Nelson,
I can't live without your love and affection. Remember this song.
(17:03):
I already even know that song.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Tellby, I'm just amadining a sixteen year old you fist
pumping from the backseats.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, that's actually when I had hair, and I probably
had like you know, like that hair goop in it back.
I mean that was nineteen ninety and I was ninety three,
so I guess that would have been I would have
been a sophomore. Wow the memories eight six six eight
six six nine two seven WASHEFM one. That's eight six
six nine two seven forty three sixty one talkback microphone,

high school. We don't judge around here, so you feel

that song was for you and why, and we'll relive
those memories together. Coming up with Tobe and Chilly in
the morning. So feel free to call right now and
coming up in just a few minutes. What would you
(17:53):
put in a time capsule if you could anything? It
just has to mean something so much to you that
you would put it in a time capsule and come
back to it in like twenty years, thirty years, maybe
forty fifty years. Okay, maybe not fifty years. I don't know,
but you would put it in a time capsule. Let's
talk about it coming up in minutes as Toby and
(18:14):
Chilly in the Morning continues on Monday, Toby and Chilly
in the Morning on ninety seven point one was Chef
m and eight sixty six ninet twenty seven forty three
sixty one. Can also tap speak and send us a
voice note via talk back. If you're signed in to
your iHeart app. We love to hear from you. And
this morning we're talking about this museum in Missouri. They
opened a one hundred year old time capsule. We were
(18:36):
talking myself and producer Taylor Shay. What would you put
in a time capsule today that would need to be
opened and say twenty five years or so.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Well, this is a Washington, DC area time capsule. I
would put in either a NAT's World Series jersey or
a piece of Stumpy.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Oh, Stumpy Jerry blossom tree that could and that's right,
no longer there, but he will live on thanks to science.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
A little stompy that's my boy. What about you, Stumpy board?
What out for him?
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Alright?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Remember when the Caps won the Stanley Cup? Yeah, well
Metro did this commemorative edition Metro card with the Stanley
Cup champions You're Washington Capitals on it. I bought two,
of course, one because I used one and the other
one I've got at home and I found it over
the weekend while I was going through stuff. So I
(19:33):
would put that in that time capsule to remind us
of a time when the city came together behind these
caps What would you put in a time capsule the
numbers eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
That's eight sixty six ninet two, seven forty three sixty one.
We love hearing from you here at ninety seven point
one wash FM, where we love stories that restore your
(19:54):
faith in humanity from right here in the DMB and
we found a story that we think might just to
make your money that is minutes away with Toby and
Chilly in the Morning. Now it's time for a story
that we think might just make your Monday. And this
one comes to us from DC Toby and Chilly in
the Morning, ninety seven point one WASHFM. More, once again,
this Thanksgiving, take a break from the kitchen and do
(20:17):
something meaningful with Food and Friends. They're back with their
Slice of Life fundraiser. Now what they're doing at Food
and Friends is they're offering pies that feed more than
just your family a sweet treat. When you purchase a pie,
you help Food and Friends provide Thanksgiving meals for people
who really need the help, who are battling serious illnesses cancer, HIV,
(20:41):
heart failure, people who can't cook for themselves. The impact
of one pie, one delicious pie really does go to
help neighbors in the DMV who are in need. They've
got a big goal. They want to sell six thousand
pies at Food and Friends and I think they can
pull it off because all the proceeds they go toward
(21:03):
delivering meals to people who need them the most. Such
a simple way to make a big difference. Buy a
pie and help to feed those who need to be
fed this Thanksgiving because no one should be hungry, and
that's what Food and Friends has made their mission. Food
and Friends based in DC. Thank you for your kindness
this Thanksgiving and every day, and thank you for making
(21:25):
our Monday. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM. And if
you've got a story that you think might just make
our Monday, tell us all about it. We love hearing
from you at ninety seven point one wash FM. We're
coming up in just a few minutes. What would you
put in a time capsule the numbers eight sixty six,
ninet two, seven forty three sixty one, talk back, wide
open two. Tell us what that is and we'll circle
(21:49):
back on this coming up after eight. As Toby and
Chilly in the Morning. Contake you Tilly and Chilly in
the morning. At eight six six WASHEFM the number one
talk back wide open two. You're already signed in listening
to us on your iHeart app, so tap that microphone
with the circle around it. Tell us what would you
put into a time capsule? If you could, Robert in
(22:10):
wheeds in good morning, weeds in home of the Wheaton,
Glenmond metro stop on the red line, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Popular music to put in there would be a great idea,
like to have an accurate look or documentation of you know,
the styles and the genres would be absolutely incredible. And
to think, like when the time capitle is eventually opened,
you know, to think about the perceptions of people in
the future who you know might think.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Of it as old fashioned or outdated.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
That's really interesting for me to think.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
About, ponderous Roberts and Glenmont. Thank you for joining the program.
Producer Taylor Shank, I see you have your hand raised.
What's on your mind this morning?
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Kind of hard to put the cloud in a time cap.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
That is a very fair point, Leslie, good morning, and
thank you for listening in Vienna this morning.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
I think it would be super cool to put phones
in like social media cutouts or something in a time capsule,
just to see how it progresses in the future and like,
how much.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Right now are worlds revolved around.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
This kind of technology? Yeah, you could put it in
there along with those AOL CDs we used to get magazines.
The ones that have become coasters are Frisbees now.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
So yeah, we didn't be surprised if you still.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Have some I do and I throw them at people
like Frisbees. The talkbag microphone is wide open. If you
have something you would put in a time capsule, tell
us all about it. You already signed into your iHeart app,
so you'll see the microphone in front of you, tap
speak and send We love your thoughts here at ninety
seven point one watch FM. Now, everybody stand by because
(23:43):
coming up next we want to get your take on
how you know it's time to leave a party. Eight six, six,
nine two seven forty three sixty one is the number.
Feel free to call and add to the conversation. That's
next to a chilly in the morning. You've got Toby
and Chilli in the morning and you're waking up with
ninety seven point one Watch FMHRE. The number is eight
(24:06):
six six nine two seven forty three sixty one. Use
it right now because we want to know as we
get into the Halloween party season, the festive season, when
do you know it's time for you to leave a party?
Talk back microphone wide open as well. Producer Taylor say
thoughts this morning.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I don't drink alcohol, so you know, when the party
starts to get a little too many libations in everyone,
that's when it's time for me to leave.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
When everybody's in the club or the party getting tipsy.
It's a paraphrase Shabouzi got you, Liam, Thank you for
waking up with us this morning in Alexandria. Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
The moment it's time to leave a party is when
people start talking about politics, because it's either going to
go on one or two directions. Either there's going to
be a fight or they're going to come to some
sort of stupid agree to disagree moment and it's just
nothing actual we gets done.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Anyways.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I would actually rather see a fight, Dolly one for
the people who get belligerent. Thank you there, Liam for
jumping in this morning. Toby and Chilly in the morning,
we're talking about how you know when it's time to
leave a party? At eight six six nine two seven
forty three sixty one eight six six, wash UPM the
number one, or you can leave us a message if
you talk back. I admit I don't know when to
(25:21):
leave a party. I'm no good at knowing. Some people
can take the hint that's not me, not at all.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
And that is true because every party that I've ever
been to that Toby is at, you are the last
person to leave.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Well, I'm just trying to milk everything I can out
of that party and the time with friends and loved
ones and coworkers and the open bar and what Toby
hit the lights on the way out?
Speaker 4 (25:48):
What more?
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Toby and Jilly head over to washupm dot com or
the iHeartRadio app.
