Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wash up out, it's before five o'clock. We're Toby and
Chile in the morning. Why are you feeling good before
five o'clock this morning? There's always something to feel good about,
so tell us so we can celebrate with you. Eight
sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one. That's
eight sixty six was Chef m the number one I
will tell you this morning. I am thankful that when

(00:25):
you ask for help, help will sometimes come through, even
if there's a small little cost involved. Okay, So there's
a laundromat that my significant other goes to sometimes when
I let the laundry get way.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Too backed up.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Oh good lord, Well, did you know that they will
fold your clothing for you. They will literally prepare it
for you to just take home and put.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Away for a little or something.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Well, it wasn't that much at all.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I literally rolled in there and I thought it was
going to be like, really mad expensive.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
No it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
And the cost the time that I got back just
by dropping off these clothes and saying here full of
them was invaluable.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Can I tell you something about myself? That's really weird.
I don't like other people handling my clothes. It feels weird,
like it's a weird like psychological thing, like to think
that somebody else is going to be folding my stuff. Yeah,
I know that maybe I'm weird and I'm the only
one that feels that way, but it feels like I
don't what's our personal.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Nah, I'm sure there are people who feel that way,
And I might have felt that way once upon a
time before until I got too much stuff. And then now,
you know, any little bit I can do that'll get
me some time back on the weekend is so worthwhile.
It's just a reason I feel good this morning.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
What about you.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
I'm feeling good because I love the fact that we're
going to have a very mild Halloween, so the kids
are not going to have to wear like big bulky
coats over their costumes so they can actually show off
the costumes.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yes, and by the way, it's a reminder if you
have gotten everything you need for the little trigger treaters
yet costco here you come, Sam's, wherever you go Target,
And by the way, if candy's not your bag this morning.
Coming up next at ninety seven point one wash Chef FEM.
I guess you guys yesterday were talking a little bit
about things to give away instead of candy.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
And these days sometimes candy may not be the thing
to give the kids.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
No, and we're talking about fun alternatives.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Okay, not like floss, Oh you mean, not like grapes
and boxes of raisins, which I send to Remember when
I was a kid growing up, Boy, you gave us
boxes of raisins.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I didn't want to come by your house the next year.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
We'll get into that coming up in minute eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one is the
number where it's Hellby and Chili in the morning. Welcome
to Tuesday, DC, Toby and Chilly in the morning. It
is ninety seven point one wash CHEFM.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
While I was.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Absent from class yesterday, you guys talked about fun alternatives
to candy to give away while trigger treating. Now, I
don't normally have trigger treating. Trigger treaters come to my
house where I live in my apartment complex in Rawville.
But you live on a could a sect Chili? So
have you taken this to heart? Are you giving away
things other than candy?

Speaker 5 (03:07):
I should know This is probably going to be my
last year like giving the typical candy, because I think
that kids just get too much of it.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
So I think next year I'm going to start.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Giving those little bubbles, you know, like little dollar bubbles
that they can play with, because ten percent of that
candy is eaten hard, you know what I mean, Like
hardly any of that candies are.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Going to be eating right.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
And you don't want to be that one house on
the block that causes the kids to have the jacked
up teeth because they get cavities after they go trigger
treating at your house, Karen and Beltsville, you had an
idea on something fun to add to the tricker treating
Schmorgas board of Goodness, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
My parents gave out little flashlights to the kids that
came to their house.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
How many flashlights do they invest in? Back in the day,
they had about.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
Twenty kids that came, so they would give them out.
It was so cute because then the little kids had
flash flights.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
But the trigger treating with absolutely it's definitely makes it
safer for them now. Karen, and have you continue the
tradition that your parents started when you were a kid.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
What do you give out.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
I give them snack bags full of five candy and
actually made one hundred and twenty of them because we
usually have one hundred kids.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Now I understand why you don't continue the flashlight tradition
because that would get very expensive with one hundred and
twenty kids. Thanks so much for calling with that, Karen,
have a great day.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
You to welcome YouTube.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Bye bye bye, Karen.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Thank you by the way.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
If you started now, though, I bet you could stock
up on those little flashlights. There's Amazon TMU all of
these things just in time for next Halloween.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Babe. I don't know, just the thought.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
What's a fun alternative to trick or treat candy that
you feel like you could give out? We're kind of
out of time when it comes to Halloween, but if
you could, what would you give eight sixty six Watch
FM the number one eight sixty six nine two seven

Speaker 2 (05:05):

on this the twenty ninth day of October. It's Tuesday,
ninety seven point one WASHEFM, just days away from Halloween,
and it's time for us to talk about you and
your headspace.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yes, what is the morning mindset?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Quote today from Buddha who says every morning we are
born again. What we do today is what matters most.
Yesterday's behind you, right, doesn't matter what happened yesterday can't
change it. Today You've been born again. You got up
this morning. What you do today is what matters most.
There's something to what Buddha has to say. I feel

(05:41):
very enlightened now that we've shared this with one another. However,
those words from Buddha might resonate and maybe you know
somebody that needs to hear them. So if you do,
you can find that quote and you can even tell
us one that inspires you. The Toby and Chilipage washchefm

In a Virtually any business, there are conferences, some for networking,
some that are required and mandatory is part of something
that the business you work for wants you to go to.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. But would you
choose to go to something site unseen in a city
you don't know about and pay out of your own

Speaker 5 (11:22):
So when it's an optional trip like this that especially
that you know you're pocketing, I'd like to know where
the city is because part of the fun or The
appeal is if it's a city you've never visited and
always wanted to go to, then you kind of lump
it all into one, like, Hey, I'll enrich myself and
I'll also go visit San Diego or wherever it might be.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Toby, what about you.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
In this case when it comes to this specific conference
that she's talking about, because I know what I've been
to it, I'm not really going for the city. I'm
going more or less for the networking and the enrichment
and the bettering of myself. So it doesn't matter if
that's in Dubuque des Moines or Central Texas, somewhere like Lubbock.

(12:05):
I mean I could go that time.

Speaker 8 (12:06):
The one thing my husband asked me is he said,
is there any city this conference could be in where
you would say absolutely, I'm not going. And the answer
is no, I'll go wherever it is. So it just
made sense. If I'm going to get a fifty percent
discount book it.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
If anyone can relate, feel free to jump in. Eight six,
six ninety two, seven forty three sixty one is the number.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Maybe you've done this yourself. What do you think?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
We're always listening and you can use the talk back
microphone if you want to too, and you're signing to
your iHeart app tap speaks, send us a message. We

some reason.

ominous while you've been cleaning out uh, dearly departed loved

(17:17):
the story and because I guess producer Taylor Shay has
a personal connection to this.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Yeah, what happened that you guys found?

Speaker 5 (17:23):
So?

Speaker 8 (17:23):
My dad was kind of a tough guy, truck driver,
you know, liked outdoors stuff, wasn't outwardly sentimental.

Speaker 7 (17:31):
And after he passed, we were cleaning out his house.
I found a box.

Speaker 8 (17:34):
Of every single card I had sent him after I
left home at age eighteen, so twenty years of cards, birthdays,
Christmas is Father's Day.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
He saved every single card.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
That is because he wasn't the type of guy that
was touchy, feely, warm and fuzzy.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
No that was shocking.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yes, man, that's very sentimental, especially when the man is
gone and you realize, you know what, maybe I did
mean something I didn't really that I meant in life.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
Oh exactly, That's how I felt, for sure.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
I mean, the most shocking thing that we ever found
was cleaning out my uncle's home. He had saved, for
whatever reason, Toby uh ten years worth of Washington Posts,
the entire paper and he wasn't a hoarder, And we
still have no idea what it was about the papers
that he would.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Save all those decades.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
It's history, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
If there was still a museum downtown, you could probably donate.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
That is get a big sax right off. Oh, just saying.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I don't recall anything specifically because when my grandparents passed away,
we had like an estate sale. But I do recall
that my parents did cherry pick certain things they thought
I would like from my grandmother's passing.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
One of them is a painting which I have at
home that my grandmother hee It painted.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Did you know that she was that talented?

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Okay, it was kind of one of those things that
was heartfelt. But there were no m in his family's
secrets exposed, though he eight sixty six nine two seven
three sixty one when clearing out a late relative's house.
Did you find anything ominous, something shocking, a family secret,
maybe something else?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Tell us all about it.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
We love hearing your stories at eight sixty six nineteen
seven forty three sixty one. And speaking of stories, coming up,
in just a few minutes, we'll hear one of your
crazy first date stories. This one comes to us from.

Speaker 5 (19:23):
Kevin in Rockville. It started with somebody putting sugar in
his gas tank.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Sugar in the gas tank on a first date is crazy.
Wait till you hear this. It's next.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
It's Telly and Charlie's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Kevin is here from Rockville with a crazy first date
for us.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Slay it on us, please, sir.

Speaker 9 (19:41):
This was a few years back. I had met a
girl on Facebook, so we talked for a while and
we finally agreed to go on a date. And as
I'm getting ready to head out, my car's not starting,
so I had to move mountains to find another vehicle
through a FRA and finally did going to my date.

(20:03):
When I get there, it turns out is not really
the person that I thought I had been talking to.
I guess she failed to tell me that her profile
was from years before, and it definitely wasn't the same
person that I had imagined talking through.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
Oh man, So what did you do? Did you stay?

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Did you leave?

Speaker 9 (20:22):
We made the best of it and we did an
updating for a while, but that was definitely a lesson learned.
It was the first and last time I ever did
any type of online dating.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Did you ever find out what was up with your car?

Speaker 9 (20:33):
My mechanic calls me, He's like, hey, do you have
any issues of any people? And I'm like, I don't
even know why you're asking me that, but I don't
and he's like, oh, well, the reason why is because
I found sugar in your gas tank?

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Kevin. Did you ever find out who put the sugar
in your gas tank?

Speaker 9 (20:47):
Words started getting around and it was a mutual friend
of mine and my ex girlfriends. Somehow, I guess she
must have confessed that to her friend, and I said,
I had a text message saying, you know, if this
is in fact true, that was a nice thing to do,
but you toltal that you almost ruined my date, which
I'm pretty sure was your intention.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
The ex girlfriend gets involved. There's sugar in the guests tank.
You go on a first day with a woman who
looks nothing like what you saw on social media. Man,
you like a dating dumpster fire?

Speaker 9 (21:19):
Yeah pretty much.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Well, Kevin, because you shared all that craziness with us
this morning, we'd love to send you to go see
Trans Siberian Orchestra Capital Wine Arena December twenty third, thanks
to Live Nation.

Speaker 9 (21:31):
That's awesome. I guess it was worth it in.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
