Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one Fountain.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's always a reason to feel good, first thing in
the morning. We're feeling good before five here in ninety
seven point one was Chef m with Toby and Chilly
in the morning. Well, I don't know about wea, but
I can speak for me. I like looking at the
news headlines this morning and seeing that the mountains west
of DC could see a big snow this week, and
that the flakes may reach the city. I don't like
that it could impact travel plans because I'm flying to

(00:27):
Boston and that's into the heart of the Northeast, in
the heart of New England.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
So if you weren't going to Boston, would you be
going to Deep Creek? Because I know you have a
friend that's got a place there, and that's where the
snow is supposedly, upon reason and belief, going to be falling.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Turn the left or you turn right to go to Nemacolin.
Either way, I'd be in the Laurel Highlands somewhere, because
I bet you it's going to be beautiful. So just
the idea that we could be walking in a winter wonderland.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
We're not going to be walking you min in Boston.
I don't know what's going on up there. There's no
way we're going to be walking in snow around here.
It's gonna be too warm.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Alright there, Scrooge, I don't like this snow.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Or I'm not saying I don't like the snow. I'm
just being realistic. I don't want people. I don't want
to get people's hopes up. It's no way. The high
on Friday, which is when they're saying this is gonna happen,
is forty three last night checked. Snow doesn't stick around
when it's that.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Warm on the no, but we can believe. Okay, let's
have our joy with this winter wonderland of DC.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Deep Creek different, I don't know, well, deep.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Creek is deep deep? I did hear you can't not
have joy a deep creek.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Go go skiing or something.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
All right, hello, wisp here we come, What about you?
Why are you feeling good? This morning?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
My son finally wrote down his Christmas wish list for Santa,
so we can send that off.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Anything shocking on that list.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
No, it's all robotics, really.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Because I heard the gaming is going to be the
number video games and gaming. The game consoles are going
to be like the must have gift for kids.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Has not been the case for the last five five years,
I mean ever since gaming became a thing. I don't
know what else falls into that. There used to be
just like that one toy everybody wanted, you know, the
cats Patch. No, nowadays it's like just a category.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I made this console and I need the following games.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Just save the money and give me an online subscription.
How's that saving me money? What? What? Anyway, hopefully you're
feeling good this morning. If you are, let us know
so we can feel good with you. Eight six six
nineteen seven forty three sixty one Toby and Chilly in
the morning. We're coming up next.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
So forty two percent of people are going to be
hosting holiday gathering this year. Would you rather host or attend?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Oh that's a good question. We'll get into it next.
And if you've got thoughts, you know where to find us.
Call now. Would you rather be a holiday guest at
a gathering? Or would you host a gathering? Eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one is the
number Toby and Chile in the Morning on this Wednesday,
about a week away from Thanksgiving travel, and we need

(02:59):
to think of when it comes to the holidays, how
many of these events are you going to go to?
Do you host them? Are you a guest at them?
Which is more comfortable for you.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I think we've now committed to three different holiday gatherings
and I'm not hosting any of them so far, which
is good. When my kid was little, like a baby,
a toddler, I liked hosting because then we could stick
to my son's sleep schedule. Now though, I'd rather attend.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
What about you see, I've hosted these things before and
they're pain and the bum to clean up, and then
you have to make sure you have something for everybody
when it comes to the food. That's assuming they're not
bringing their own food. And now you throw into the
fact that you know there are some people who may
not drink that come or whatever. It's just an interesting
wrinkle at all. So it's going to make holiday gatherings

(03:46):
interesting this year.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
And also you can exit whenever you want to exit
if you attend someone's party. Otherwise you're like stuck waiting
until the last person leaves your house.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
It's tough though, because when you're going to more than three,
you have to pull the Houdini repeatedly and that can
send a bad message too. I think, what do you prefer?
Hosting the holiday gathering or being a guested one? Eight
six six nine two seven forty three sixty one Michael,
Good morning in Arlington. What's up?

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Our family is always hosted Christia's gathering. I think it's
easier just because you don't have to leave and you
don't need to bring anything out of the house. It's
also nice because you get to keep the leftover and
when the gathering is over, and you know, as a hostess,
we love it when you take the leftovers because we
don't want that stuff in our fridge.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Fair point Alison, good morning, how are things in Alexandria today?
Go ahead?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I enjoy creating a fun atmosphere and making sure everyone
just feel welcome. It's really rewarding to plan the details,
from the food to the decorations and seeing everyone just
enjoy the gathering. Plus it gives me a chance to
show my appreciation by making the experience special for others.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Well, how very Martha Stewart of you, Toby, would you
like to get an invitation?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I know I would come on now, that's very mean.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
No, what are you talking about? I would love to
get an invitation.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Called her mar with the Stewart.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Why did you watch her documentary? She's a fascinating woman.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
No, I need to watch well, I will admit and
concede that point. Good stuff. Would you like to be
a holiday gathering guest or host? Eight six six nine
two seven forty three sixty one is the number? Talkbags
wide open too if you want to tap speak send
leave us a message that's easiest sometimes. Or Toby and
Chilly in the Morning. We love hearing from you and

(05:25):
we will coming up and stay right there your morning
mindset on the web. Toby at Chilly in the Morning
on ninety seven point one wash FM, waking you up
with all of your holiday favorites and waking you up
by trying to make sure that your mind is right
as we start this Wednesday morning, November twentieth.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
And that's when we share a morning mindset quote with you.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
The author, Tim Ferris, also a motivational speaker, says, focus
on being productive instead of busy. So today, focus on
being productive instead of busy. We all say, oh, I'm
so busy, I'm so busy, yes, but are you productive?
Because it's one to be busy and another thing to
be productive, right, and the two are not dependent on

(06:07):
one another. Keep that in mind. Focus on being productive today.
Make something of value happen instead of just being busy,
because busy Man's not an excuse and it's not productive.
Tim Ferris with your morning mindset for this Tuesday morning,
Actually it's Wednesday morning. I keep getting these days screwed up.

(06:29):
Hopefully that helped and if it did, find it that
Toby and chilipageashfm dot com and share it with someone
you know who might need to hear it and stay
there because coming up with good some entertainment news we
call it showbiz buzz. Here at ninety seven point one
wash FM.

Speaker 1 (06:41):

bill that could enable DC to lure the Washington commanders
back to the city has now advanced in the US Senate.

officials hope the Senate will pass the bill by the
end of this year. Another block of Old Town Alexandria's
popular King Street will soon be opened to foot traffic only,
as the city expands its pedestrian only portions of the
road to now two blocks from the Potomac River. The

(08:03):
pilot program's going to last from November twenty second through
January sixth. And despite all the entertainment available today, a
study finds that people are more bored now than ever before.
Research suggests that digital media creates a lot of stimulation
and that makes people less interested in doing things that
aren't as stimulating, like reading a book. Forecast for today

(08:26):
it's going to be partly sunny. Do you have a
chance of rain tonight? Pretty mild though sixty seven to high.
Right now it is fifty degrees in white. Plane on the.

why you're invited to use it at any time.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
And Andrea in DC, you were hearing our earlier conversation
this morning, what's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Well, no, holiday's gathering and either going to it or
having it at my home. I'd rather do both, I'm
kind of doing. I like to do both because I
like to entertain, but then I don't like to clean
up after everybody when they leave, so I like to
go and enjoy myself and I don't have to worry
about that.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
So which one would you host? And which one do
you want to attend? Which holiday?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
A Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I like to
host Christmas or even host a Christmas party? Okay, and
at a Thanksgiving gathering?

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Yeah, because the Thanksgiving is messier, you're gonna have to
do more dishes. Oh no, I'm with her on that.
Why would I want to spend all my time cleaning up?

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Well, if you've got good friends, though, they're in the
kitchen kind of helping you before they leave.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Yeah, that's true too, But then you have some that
you know, do that, I'll have to go home real quick.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Oh I got We've got plans in the morning.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Oh okay, yes, we hear you exactly, Well, we hope
that you get your wish. Maybe you get to host
one and attend one this holiday season. Me too.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
And if you're Andrea from DC's friend and she invites
you to a party for Thanksgiving, you doing the cleanup exactly,
She's got no time for that.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Kelby and Kelly's nearly impossible questions.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
What is the question? This morning?

Speaker 1 (10:44):

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour Resident Alec Trump is

Education Secretary. She is the former CEO of WWE, which
she founded with her husband, Vince McMahon. The Mutgarmey County

The proposed bill would impact special visas called U visas,
that give legal status to undocumented immigrants for are victims

a measure yesterday that'll keep standalone, non gas convenience stores

(12:23):
from opening within three miles of similar stores. The law
will also force convenience stores that open after January third
to close by ten pm. Arlington County has approved plans
to transition empty office buildings into multi use spaces. Arlington
currently has nearly eleven million square feet of vacant space,

(12:44):
along with an over supply of offices. While new data
shows that a third of all DC adults use cannabis,
either recreationally or for medical purposes. That is the second
highest rate in the country, just below Vermont. And according
to a recent survey, seventy four percent of baby boomers

(13:05):
say they love learning new things, and sixty percent think
learning something new is even more rewarding now than when
they were Younger respondents believe that twenty six actually is
the best age to learn something new. Forecast for today
partly sunny with a chance of rain. Tonight hies around

Speaker 2 (13:25):
So how happy are you or were you with your
marriage proposal? Was it a blissful moment you'll never forget?
Was it so romantic, picturesque? Almost perfect? Thirty nine percent
of people say that they're happy with their marriage proposal.
The rest not so much, thoughts eight six six, nineteen seven,
forty three sixty one. We've got some we'll get to them,

(13:47):
and we can't wait to hear yours. So give us
a call and jump into the conversation. It continues next
with Toby and Chilly in the morning only thirty nine
percent of people are happy with their marriage proposal. That
means the rest are not six nine, seven forty three
sixty one is our number, it's ninety seven point one.
Wash up. N that's eight sixty six wash up and

(14:08):
can also use the talkback microphone. If you're signed in
listening on your iheartup is, press it and send us
a voice. Don't we love hearing your messages? Where do
you stand with this whole marriage proposal thing. I've never
popped the question.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
You have.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Your husband planted it out. How did it go?

Speaker 1 (14:22):
He did a great job. We went kayaking on the
Potomac River. Then we went for a walk on the
National Mall and he got down on one knee between
the Capitol and the Monument and asked me to marry him.
And I thought it was perfect. It was perfect.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Now you know it was coming because like sometimes people,
they don't like to be surprised.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
No, I didn't know it was coming that day. I
did not know it was coming that day. But I
do want to know. Knowing that only thirty nine percent
of people are happy with the way they're asked Does
that make you nervous because I know you're thinking about
asking your girlfriend to marry you one day? Does that
put more pressure on you to get it right?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
No, I think because she's lived her life and I've
lived mine, So it's more like, Okay, hey, we're happy together,
We're you're happy, I'm happy. Hopefully we're happy. Yeah. If
I did some full blown production, that would be over
the top and probably wouldn't make her very happy.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Okay, So that's what I'm saying. I wouldn't do something
for her.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Just the fact that I planned something would probably make
her happy.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Okay. At the end of the day. Sounds to me
that she would just be happy being asked. And it
doesn't really matter so much where you are when it happens, right, Okay.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Could be anywhere, as long as that moment is right,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
And that's what I'm saying. Thirty nine percent of them
thought the moment was right and all that was right.
The rest of these people are thinking, oh, really, you're
just gonna ask me?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Now?

Speaker 6 (15:41):
I was.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
I made it out to be this thing in my head,
and there in lines the problem.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
That does look like a problem when a majority of
people are not happy with their marriage proposal. And conversely,
if you flip the script on that number, it's accurate.
You know what I mean? A majority of people are
not happy with their proposal. Makes me wonder what did
they all do so I don't do that?

Speaker 1 (16:03):
And are they still married?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Right? Did they have a prenup? Hey, before I give
you this ring, can you sign here in triplicate? Oh

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
I was flying through the Minneapolis airport and I know
how to fly. I don't get nervous in an airport,
but for whatever reason, I was having a panic attack.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Right at the gate.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
This lady I didn't know came and sat by me,
and she's like, let me help you all, work with
you to figure out where you need to go. And
by the time I kind of got you know too,
and out of my panic attack, she was gone.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
She wasn't on your flight. No, she wasn't on my flight.
I didn't get to say thank you.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
I didn't. Oh man, you lucked out. You didn't have
to buy her drinks on the flight.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
I would have.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I totally would have.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Oh that's great, what about you, Chilli Omar.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
This happened recently. We went to Great will Flodge my son,
who has a tough time regulating his emotion sometimes. I
was getting upset about something and another mother walked by.
She saw what was happening. She made eye contact with
me and mouthed the words, this too shall pass.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
Sometimes that's all you need. It's the mom eye contact.
I got you.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
I know, I hear you. What about you?

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Exactly the right time too. This happened when I was
at the run, dizzying experience with a stranger that I
will never forget. This woman was having a hard time
finishing the course, just like I was, and we were
kind of like, you know, both sitting in the same
space to kind of recover some of the pain that
was in my back. And I take it she had
some pains too. This was her first time doing a

(18:16):
five k and she was walking with like canes and stuff,
and she was from here. I don't remember her name,
but she's like, I helpe. You don't mind if I
take a selfie with you. I know who you are
and I know you're from DC, and I go, oh wow.
She's like, well, we're going to get through this together.
This is my first time doing this. I go mine too.
I go yeah, and I'm woefully out of shape. And
she's like, well, we're gonna make it, and you're going

(18:37):
to get through this and I'll see you on the
other side of the line, and that was all I
needed to carry me through the rest of the mornings
that that morning's five K.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Well, we all learned something here today. Make sure you
stop and get their names exactly.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Yeah, that's true. For well, wherever she is, I hope
she knows that I believe she made it to the
other side of the line. And thank you for taking
the time to each of these strangers who touched our
lives in some ways. There an experience with a stranger
that you will never forget. What happened? Eight six, six,

the woman who helped her through a panic attack at
airport and how she wishes she got the woman's name
so she could thank her properly.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Emily and glen Burnie, what's on your mind?

Speaker 5 (22:06):
Good morning? So I actually worked a subway in on
hospital drive in glen Burnie's about ten years ago, and
I was connected with this family who their car broke
down on the side of the road and the mother
had both of our sons run up off of the
highway to stay safe, and one of the boys came
back down to help his mother and sadly, he was

(22:27):
struck by a car on the highway. Years later, this
paramedic I saw him on Facebook and he was asking
about this child, you know, from ten years ago, and
wanted to know if the child made it because he
dreamt about this child every day and thought about him
regularly regularly. And I reached out to the paramedic and
put him I knew somebody, and we found out it

(22:47):
was the same child, and years later they were able
to connect and it really made a full circle for
the whole family. He was able to make the paramedic
and the paramedics felt like the life was complete because
he was able to save this child life.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
WHOA, that's such a special, special connection. I'm so glad
you got to play a part in reconnecting them.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
It was, honestly, has been the best story that I
can tell. It makes me think about this child all
the time, and it makes me feel like there is
a full circle in the world and there is good people.
And I really love that, you know, we can share
the story and have that memory together.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Emily and Glenn Burnie, we're glad you took a second
to call and tell us about that random encounter. Thank you, ma'am.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Thank you have a great thing.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Now we'll go over here to Leslie. Leslie, good morning
in Montgomery Village. What's up?

Speaker 7 (23:33):
One time, I don't remember where I was that I
remember needing this very elderly nun and she walked up
to me and she said that I had a radiant
light emanating from me and it was beautiful and I
always carried that with me.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Thank you, Leslie. It sounds like Leslie's getting somewhat emotional
this morning.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
I would get emotional. Are you kidding me? If a
nun came and said she saw some sort of light
radiating off of me.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
I see you already, Lord.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Please go bless me.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Now.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
