Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wash up that well, since we get started before five anyway,
that's why we kind of call it around here, Toby
and Chilly in the morning, ninety seven point one, wash
up them feeling good before five? Why are you feeling
good before five o'clock this morning? There's always some reason
to feel good. I'll tell you that. For me, the
good feeling's going to come to an end in about

(00:24):
three or four hours when I take the rental car
that i've had back. The thing about rental cars that
bring feels good feels is it's like you're driving a
car that's not yours and it's just awesome because it's
new to you.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I love that the truck got feel good two days
in a row. That's how amazing it is. Yesterday morning
and this morning.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Yesterday it was more or less than I didn't want
to hit the roof.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Today it's like I don't know how to turn the
radio on in that car. But that's okay because at
least it's doing the stuff that you know, I wanted
to do, and it's getting me to where I needed
to do it to go. But it's got to go
back today, and I'm feeling some sort of way about that.
But it's okay because it's been a good few days
with it and you can't meet that. What about you

(01:13):
on this Friday morning?

Speaker 3 (01:14):
My husband and I are still married despite taking an
hour to put a chair together yesterday, one of those
like reclining lounger chairs. Sure it came in parts, it
didn't come hole, and yeah, it took us an hour,
but we did it.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
That's where they get you, you know, did it You go,
like we talked about yesterday on the show, you go
shopping for something. It looks great in the showroom, and
then it gets to your house and you're like, wait
a minute, I've got to build this.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
No, we did know that it was going to come
in parts. We thought it was only going to be
two parts, but it was six different parts, you know.
But it was fine. Look, it's fine. We've put together
Ikea furniture and survived. We put together the chair and survived,
and it's lovely and we are very happy.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Did you sit in the chair? That's the ultimate test?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Duh?

Speaker 4 (02:01):
All right? Then? Duh? Did it feel good?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Did it?

Speaker 4 (02:04):
It was comfortable?

Speaker 3 (02:05):
It was very comfortable. It has a heating thing, it
was like a Black Friday sale, and then it has
like a vibration thing happening like a massage on shoulders.
So yes, there you go.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
We're all going over to Chili's house to sit in
his chair a little bit later on today, Toby at
Chili in the morning, Why are you feeling good this morning?

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Before five?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Feel free to call and let us know at eight
sixty six nineteen seven forty three sixty one. The talk
back microphone is wide open too and coming up in
a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
You know, we would really love to know what is
an unmterialistic thing that you would love for the holidays?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yeah, something you can't buy at a store that you
won't see at a Black Friday sale. What is it?
There's no wrong answer. Feel free to jump into the conversation.
Call us now, tell us we'll talk about it in minutes.

what is a non materialistic thing that you would want
for Christmas? Something that maybe money can't buy. It could
be anything. Does anything come to your mind?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Chilling?

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Is it cheesy?

Speaker 3 (03:18):
If I say I hope we stay healthy the entire winter?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I would say, if that's a non materialistic thing you
want for Christmas, I hope your wish is granted.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yes, no flu, no pneumonia, no coughs, no all of
the above, right, yes.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I would just like for my voice to come back.
Dear Santa, I've been very good. I don't know why
all week my voice has been shot. I won't eat
your cookies and I won't drink your milk on Christmas Eve.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
I promise.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Anyway, Maybe there's something non materialistic that you would like
to have for Christmas? Tasha, good morning, Thank you for
listening in Oxen Hill.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
What would that be for you?

Speaker 6 (03:55):
In all honesty, this may sound really cheesy, but it's
the truth.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Just time doing what like time with people, time with
my friends, time with my family, time to just sit
and play cards against Humanity or play I don't know,
Jim Rummy or Uno or.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Just just be just time to be together. Time, says Tasha.
You know, there's their time as the fire in which
we burn.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
It's also the most important currency.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Ray, what's a non materialistic thing you would want for Christmas? And,
by the way, thank you for calling us this morning
from Montgomery Villa.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
You know what, it's a concept, just good vibe.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Please elaborate.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
Really tired of the negativity out there if we're giving
each other mean looks. I just want the good vibes,
the good holiday cheer and vibes. Hopefully that doesn't get
a long.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Thank you, Ray, here is to those good vibes. And now, Nina,
what's a non materialistic thing that you would love to
get for Christmas?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Believe it or not, it's really simple on interrupted that
I'm not talking about like twenty minutes. I'm talking like
not even two hours, but like maybe like home on hibernation. Yeah,
like bears hibernate too.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Very it's true.

Speaker 2 (05:00):

Ninety's seven point one Wash FM with Toby and Chilly
in the morning on this Friday.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
So what's the quote you're going to share with us?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It comes to us from Babe Ruth, who says, don't
let the fear of striking out keep you from playing
the game. The guy actually broke records. He's in the
Hall of Fame, but he broke records for strikeouts. Now
that's not to say that he didn't smash the ball
every now and then. And if you don't know baseball,
Babe Ruth kind of a legend, but the dude struck

(06:05):
out a lot. Don't let the fear of striking out
keep you from playing the game. Today, you've got a
game to play called life. Play it and if you
strike out, that's fine. There's always tomorrow. There's always another opportunity.
Even today could bring you multiple opportunities. Keep playing the game, Babe, Ruth.

Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield is now backing off its
decision to not cover anesthesia under certain conditions. The insurance
company had originally announced they wouldn't reimburse antestja costs if
the surgery went on for what the insurer deemed was
too long. The news drew outrage across the Internet as
well as with doctors well. The House has voted against

(15:43):
releasing an ethics Committee report from its investigation of former
congress from Matt Gates. He was being investigated over allegations
of sexual misconduct and drug use, among other things. A
Prince William County teacher facing charges after allegedly grabbing a
student back in October. Skator say fifty one year old
Dana Farber forcibly grabbed a student on the playground of

Dean Kilby Elementary School, causing minor injuries. And a new
report finds that an increase in working from home has
really improved the DC area's air quality and carbon emissions.
Coworking Magazine found that d area's carbon footprint fell by
more than twenty three percent. DC's environmental improvement was the

(16:25):

All the fields on a Friday, all the good Friday fields,
stuffing a boat, yes, filling a boat with toys? Feel
good story? How can this be? And where is it? Well,
we'll tell you, and we think that it might just
make you feel good about life. Coming up in just
minutes here and chilly in the morning at ninety seven

(17:04):
all the fields on a Friday, and those fields are good.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. Or Toby and Chile.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
In the morning tomorrow in Montgomery County over at Rio,
there is something very cool happening for kids who need
toys this Christmas in the Carolinas, specifically North Carolina. You
might have heard that there was a hurricane this Helene,
and it really screwed people up.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
So local nonprofit and emergency responders from Montgomery County are
doing this event called Field a Boat, and they do
it every year to gather toys for kids through various
DC area charities, and as Toby mentioned, they really are
focusing on helping families in Ash County, North Carolina who
are still trying to recover from the storm.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
So headed to Rio Lakefront, Gaithersburg tomorrow from ten to three.
All right, brings some toys, new unwrapped toys to fill
that boat with so that these kids who've been impacted
by these storms can have something new and something fun
for Christmas. And to make it worth your while, there's
some really cool stuff that your son Donado will love,

(18:08):
no doubt.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah, this is definitely a family friendly event. But they're
going to have a fire truck there you can explore
and search to rescue boat. They're doing this to encourage
people to come out and help, and they are hoping
to collect at least five hundred and fifty toys.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
So there's a target right there.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
You can just roll into the target, pick up a
couple of unwrapped new toys, take them down there. Remember
they're looking to reach kids who are between the ages
of five and sixteen.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
We really love that this fill the boat event is
going to benefit folks in Ash County, North Carolina. And
if you've been wondering this whole time, God, I'd really
love to help people who were affected by Helene. We
just gave you something you can do tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
If you need the details. Toby and chilipage washchefm dot com.
It's a story that gives you all the feels, all
those good feels. On a Friday, It's ninety seven point

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Okay, today Toby celebrates his fiftieth birthday. We want to
know what is something that you've actually gotten better at
as you've gotten older.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Age sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
If you want to jump in now. Love hearing from
you feel free to do something that goes Jimmy Buffett,
Toby and Chilly In the morning at ninety seven point one,
watch FM playing even more of your holiday favorites all
day every day because.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Christmas and today is also a special day.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Oh, I wouldn't say it's special.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Well, it is a milestone birthday for you. Happy birthday
to you.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Thank you very much. I'm very excited to be here
on my fiftieth perthday.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
So as we get older, I'm going to, you know,
spin this in a positive way, we get better at
doing things. Is there something that you've really gotten better
at doing.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I've become better at picking and choosing battles. When I
was younger, in my career and in life, I used
to fight every war, even if the war weren't my
war to fight. Yes, I'd fight it for whomever, just
because I don't believe in justice. But lately I've just
found that, you know what, it's exhausting to try to

(20:05):
do it all. It's exhausting to try to fight it all.
And so I've become more selective about what I choose
to fight, and I've become more selective about when I
choose not to fight, and to be honest, I don't
know that I'm fighting the wars that I used to
fight anymore, because frankly, it's just not worth it for
me anymore. Very you know, it took me a long

(20:28):
time to realize it. I'm not saying I'm perfect at it,
and I reserve the right to regress and go back
to fighting belligerent wars at times. But I will say
that there's something very calming about not fighting every battle
this placed in front of me.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Some of it's just ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
You know.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Is there anything that's come along in your life since
you've become a person of a certain age.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I've gotten great at saying no. It's the most freeing
thing in the world. Yeah. I used to say yes
to everything and it just ended up, you know, being
bad for my mental health. So yeah, that's what I've
gotten better at as I've gotten older.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Not to mention, you just get tired, you know, eight
six six ninety three sixty one.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
I remember back in my.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Day before I learned the hard way, What was it
you learned as you aged? What was it that got
better with age for you? How long did it take
you to learn that lesson? Give us a call. We'll
talk about it coming up eight sixty six nine two,
seven forty three sixty one. You can also tap the
talk back microphone. It's wide open for you if you're

(21:33):
signed into your iHeart app. Everybody's got something they've learned
and they've gotten better at. As age sets in like
a fine wine, we would love to hear what it
is for you, and we will. As Toby and Chilly
