Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one was.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That there is always something to find joy in no
matter what. In the morning, it's ninety seven point one
wash FM, Toby and Chilly in the morning. I will
say this that as much as I'm oversleeping in my
daughter's bed, I still have a roof over my head,
the bills are paid. There is always something to be
joyful about. And those are little things that have me

(00:26):
feel in some sort of way this morning. What about you, Chili, I.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Am feeling great because yet again, so many people spent
Thursday and Friday with us as we did our Radiothon
from Children's National and you know, really stepped up and
became miracle makers or one time donors. And it's just
a reminder that a lot of there's more good.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
In the world, yes than not. You know, it's the village. Yeah, Like,
here's the thing I get that. You know, it seems
like between Thanksgiving and Christmas and then Radiothon this year,
it was just like a blur, you know what I mean,
Like everything just kind of happened. But nonetheless, even in
the blur of all of this time, you did step
up so thank you for that. See Reasons to Find

(01:10):
Joy in the Morning. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM.
Feeling Joy. Maybe you went to a holiday party and
you got some kind of white elephant gift that turned
out to be a regifted gift? How did you get
caught regifting? Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one is the number if you want to jump in.
There's a talkback microphone. It's open to technology on your
iHeart app. You'll see that microphone with a circle around it.

(01:33):
Feel free to tap speak tell us how did you
get caught with the regifting? The crime of the holiday season?
Or is it? We'll discuss coming up next. Regifting is
a thing. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM. Toby and
Chilly in the morning. Just over the weekend, I went
to a white elephant party with a colleague of ours
and at that party I heard it said that that

(01:54):
was a gift from last year. Now, I didn't go
to this party last year or the year before because
I was dealing with sick. But you know, when you
get called out for regifting, that's kind of a thing.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Although I will say, Toby, if it's a white elephant situation.
That's where I think the regifting is okay, because white
elephant it's a game for crying out.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I'm just surprised that somebody kept a white elephant gift
around that long because honestly, that would have been donated
had had been me. But this was not my parties,
not my rules.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I just showed up, And as many times as I've regifted,
thank you, I have not been caught yet.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Well, you gotta be careful about these regifting things, you
really do. You have to check to make sure there's
no tags on it.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
You have to remember who gave it to you so
that you don't give it back to the person who.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Right because there's nothing wrong. Or you don't want to
regifted gift when that person happens to be at the
same place when you regift, because then you're like, oh, okay,
I see you were really happy to get that gift
from me, right. Regifting though it happens eight sixty six
nine two seven forty three sixty one, give us a call,
tell us have you ever been caught regifting anything? Michael,

(03:01):
good morning and Oxton Hill, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
I got called regifted a blender was it was gifted
to me, but I knew it was a cheap blender
from a family member, and I didn't want that cheap stuff,
so I was spending to my cousin and rest of history.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well, if your cousin doesn't know you regifted it, it's
not really regifting because it's new to them, right, I mean,
I guess you could maybe justify it that way.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, I mean, unless you got busted for it, It's okay.
The confession just stays in this room.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Stacy, Good morning in Tacoma Park. What about you.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
I got caught regifting a Lego set that my child
had received as a gift. He already had the set.
We went to a birthday party for another kid from
another school, not thinking that the original kid that had
given him the lego was going to be at the party,
let alone their parents. But they were, and we got
caught regifting that Lego.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Set Ooh see, that's that's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
You never want to get busted.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Busted Now, you don't get invited to the holiday party
because you're cereal red.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Except it would be worse if there were missing Lego pieces,
which I don't think there would be.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Right. Well, you would hope not if they didn't open
the box. But anyway, Hey, if it's new to you,
I guess it's new to them, right Have you ever
been caught regifting? Tell us everything talk back. Microphone is
wide open. You can leave us a message if you
want to, on your iHeart app, or you could call
it sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
and stay with us. Toby and Chilly in the Morning

(04:47):
For Toby and Chilly in the Morning, hopefully this will
help to set your mind for the new year to come.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
And it's a our Morning mindset quote what is it?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
From JP Morgan who says the first step toward getting
somewhere is to decide you're not going to stay where
you are. JP Morgan says, the first step toward getting
somewhere is to decide you're not going to stay where
you are. That's not saying it's time to put in
your notice and to quit your job going into twenty
twenty five. But here's the thing. You alone can decide that, Hey,

(05:18):
if I'm going to go forward, that means I'm not
going to do it where I'm at. I'm not going
to stay static. I'm not going to stay stagnant. I'm
not going to stay complacent. I'm going to do something
about it. And I'm going to decide that. The first
step toward getting somewhere is to decide that I'm not
going to stay where i am JP Morgan. I know
it's a little bit early for a new Year's resolution,

(05:39):
but let that guide you into the new year and
through what's left of this year. And that's your morning
mindset this morning. If it helped, and if you need
to read it again, maybe you want to share it
with somebody. You'll find it to Toby and Chillipage atwashfm

come back.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
In case you missed at fog, your county schools are
opening two hours late today because of some potential icy
conditions from the overnight rain. Also, New York Senator Chuck
Schumer is pushing for more drone detection technology after a
recent surge in drone sidings, along with federal involvement. He
says he is working on a Senate bill that would

(14:21):
give local law enforcement more tools for detecting drones. Activists
are planning to protest this morning at Potomac High School
in Oxen Hill. That's where a teenager was allegedly attacked
by other students earlier this month. No one has been arrested,
and organizers say the protests will express disappointment with the
Prince George's County Police. Now, if you're planning on taking

(14:44):
Metro over the holiday season, you might want to plan
ahead for some scheduled track construction that could cause delays.
Metro is going to be closing several stations on the Blue, Orange,
and Silver line starting this Friday. Apple is reportedly working
on foldable IF phones and iPads. The tech giant is
said to be looking at launching the devices sometime next

(15:05):
year or possibly twenty twenty seven. And according to a
new study, New Jersey is the loudest state. Researchers looked
at a number of factors, including traffic noise, a number
of construction permits, the number of planes flying overhead, public transit,
and even the number of bars.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
Now.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Based on all that, Maryland also made the list, coming

(16:16):
more familiar. Well, we've got this talkback microphone. You can
sign in tap speak. Send us your thoughts on anything
you hear as talking about. We love hearing from you,
especially when it comes to gifts that you just don't
want to get for the holidays, and there's no right
or wrong. I'm not gonna judge, but I know this much.
My grandmother, God Rest her soul, for the better part

(16:37):
of a decade plus, used to get me sweaters, no
get me swells, and I never had the heart to
take them back. And I just didn't have the heart
to say, okay about the sweaters. They never get worn.
Oh my gosh, I feel like they've all been donated since.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Well, if she had made them, at least you would
have maybe put it on once. But no, I get it.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
I mean maybe what happens is sometimes you'll you'll get
a gift and you genuinely are like, wow, this is
so great, thank you so much, which then I guess
tells them.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Oh, okay, I'm gonna keep getting them this type of gift.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I love this, kid, they must love it so Like
for me in my twenties, it was like those you know,
scentend not candles, but like lotions and body sprays from
like bath and body works.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Yeah, body works.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
It's like Victoria's Secret has that too. It's not about
the lingerie. Victoria's Secret. You can go in there and
get those creamy bath bombs and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
First of all, you're guessing what scent I like, and
they are nice, but I have a whole box full
of those that never got used.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Yep. And you don't have the heart to say hey
about that, But maybe you should, because there's probably a
gift that you're tired of getting and you just don't well,
you just don't want anymore. So feel free to call
it and tell us what that gift is so that
we can drop the hint to everyone who's listening right
now before they go shopping at Tyson's to pick up

(18:07):
stuff that you really you don't mind but you don't
need or nor do you want. Eight sixty six nine
two seven forty three sixty one is the number if
you want to call us talk back microphone wide open too.
We'll get to your calls. Coming up as Toybea and
Chilly in the Morning continues, but coming up next to
story that we think might just make your Monday.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
How a Maryland nonprofit brought some Christmas cheer to one
hundred Prince George's County family.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
If you need something that'll bring forth all the fields
on a Monday, stay there. It's yours now on this Monday,
December sixteenth. It's not for a story that we think
might bring forth all the fields, it'll make your Monday.
And this one comes to us from the William Beans
Community Center in Prince George's County where they held their
third annual holiday gift giveaway.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
This was because of a Maryland nonprofit called Judge Me Now,
and they're dedicated to I guess introducing students to and professions.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
And they decided, you.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Know what, Santa sometimes is overworked and overwhelmed. So they
got together as Santa's Helpers and they delivered or had
actually toys for one hundred families at the Prince George's
County Community Center the one you mentioned.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
There was food, they had music, they had games, they
had arts and crafts, the chance for each kid from
the age three to sixteen to pick out two different
toys just too, so you know, help take the load
off of Santa's back just a little bit. There were
one hundred families selected for this. They were all picked
through social media, email, nominations and from local schools and

(19:41):
community centers, and of.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Course all of this was made possible by a village,
a team of people, hardworking volunteers with the Maryland National
Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Prince George's County member
Crystal Oriata, and a bunch of local businesses that donated
the food and toys for that event.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
It's really great. It's a great story that we think
might just make your Monday, because you know what, it
does take a village and sometimes Santa needs a little help.
We just have to be willing to give Santa that help.
So thank you for making our Monday and congratulations on
a great event there. Judge me now Maryland nonprofit. Hopefully

(20:20):
you've introduced the students to STEM and hopefully they enjoyed
the gifts that they got as you helped out Santa.

you for Christmas. It's like they get it right once
and they feel like it needs to be the same

(23:01):
gift on repeat.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Look, I'm a fan of those nicely scented hand creams,
but I've got enough to last me well over twenty years.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Oh, I believe that they get donated, tossed out, given
to my kid. I think a bunch of them are
under the sink in the bathroom. I need to make
a note to go clean those out. So what's a
gift that you are just over getting from people? To
the point where if somebody's shopping for you today over
at Tyson's, you want to drop a hint, don't get

(23:32):
me this. Sacy, good morning, thank you for listening over
in Fairfax. What would that be?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Clowns?

Speaker 5 (23:40):
I like clowns.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
I know some people are afraid of them. I have
a collection, I have a notion.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
In my collection, and people don't chanm to put much
effort in.

Speaker 5 (23:51):

tell people stop getting me clowns.

Speaker 2 (23:56):

Thanks for listening in silver spring gift you're over getting?
You could drop the ind you don't want them to
get to this gift? What is it?

Speaker 6 (24:06):

Speaker 1 (24:07):
I do not need them.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
Only I know, like what kind of socks go with
my shoes?

Speaker 5 (24:12):
And sometimes they're like, oh, let me give you some
cute fuzzy ones. I have enough fuzzy ones.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
No more socks, y'all.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
I'm gonna be careful about what I say here, knowing

And Warrington, what gift are you over getting?

Speaker 6 (24:30):
I really want people to stop giving me candles for Christmas.
Every single year I get sick thirteen candles. I love candles,
but I don't know what to do with them anymore.
I've started to regive them.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
That's exactly what I used as a wide elephant gift
over the weekend, a candle from the grocery store.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
And I'm guilty of getting candles for people I don't
know that. Well, oh man, sorry about that.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Well, we're screwed with the candles. Gimmick and you should
stay there because coming up, Day eight of our twelve
