Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one WASH ouf out.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Chilly, Why are you feeling good before five o'clock this morning?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Daylight? Okay, let me explain.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Okay, go ahead. First of all, ninety seven point one
wash FM. Good about it. We're Toby and Chili in
the morning. Welcome to Wednesday, the fifteenth day of twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
So I have a standing appointment every Monday around four
thirty pm, and when I come out around five fifteen pm,
it was really dark out, like nighttime, nighttime dark out. Well,
this past Monday, when I came out, I was like, oh,
it's dusky. It's getting lighter and lighter every day, and
that just brought me joy.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
The sunshine brings everybody joy and the melatonin that it
crepts your body create when you get enough of it.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
What about you?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Good stuff for me today? It's the fact that I
finally cracked the nut on you know, fasting. I have
to give blood all the time for whatever reason right now,
don't want to get into the y, but I'll say this.
I have to fast today so that I can go
after the show to have blood and plasma taken and
I've found that if I get up early enough right,
(01:07):
I can still have breakfast and get in the fast
before I go to give blood. I didn't even realize
that until yesterday, and I'm like, you know what, I'm
gonna try it, and so today I'm trying it. I
don't feel hungry, I don't feel angry, I don't feel
like whatever. I will say, I'm miss hot chocolate, but
it is what it is. You'll take the little winds
(01:28):
when you can, and there'll be one heck of a
hot chocolate session when I've done letting them take my
blood today.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
That twelve hour fast is no joke.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Eight hours, don't get it twisted. Eight hours, eight hours.
Don't make it longer than it is, because then you'll
scroll my time. Friend.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Sorry, okay, never mind.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Why are you feeling good this morning? Call us at
eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
Instant karma. It's gonna get.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
You well, especially if it gets somebody that just did
you wrong. That'll make you feel good, won't it.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Oh, has this happened? Let's talk about it? Call us
eight six six ninety seven forty three sixty one. That's
on the way in less than ten, don't go anywhere
this morning? Karma? You ever witnessed summits to karma you
believe in at eight six six, ninety seven forty three
sixty one. Either way, I want to hear from you.
Tell me Chilly in the morning at ninety seven point
one waschef, You know, like Lennon sings about that song
instant Karma's gonna get you. But have you ever seen
(02:19):
karma get somebody? Chillium are in your life?
Speaker 3 (02:21):
A friend of mine said she's spent hours digging a
spot for her car and someone else ended up parking
in that spot and got dinged by a car who's
slid in the ice.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Ey sums, yeah, right, Je tuck somebody else's spot.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
But does it always have to be bad karma?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
No, you can have good karma, Like I keep doing
random acts of kindness for a neighbor in hopes that
I'll get some good karma.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Like winning the lottery for digging somebody out of there.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
K exactly and bringing her trash can up instead of
like digging somebody out of the snow and then trying
to bring the trash cam up and slipping on some
ice and then ending up in traction. See that's the
kind of karma that I would get. Cassandra, good morning.
We're teby and chilly in the morning. Thanks for calling
to tell us about an instant karma you witnessed. And
Oxton Hill go ahead.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
I was at a picnic with a bunch of people
and I tripped over the root of a tree and
this really annoying lady that I can't stand was standing
by the picnic table and she laughed at me, and
then she sat down on the picnic table, not realizing
that there was a lot of weight already on one
of the benches, and the bench totally flipped over on her.
(03:27):
So I got the last laugh.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yes you did, did you go?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Just like in the Simpsons, that's very funny. Rachel and Kensington,
what's up?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Boyfriend cheated on me and he left me for another
gal and now they got Milly and everything, and it's
only been less than a year and now she's the
voice of him.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Just like in the words of old doctor Phil, if
they do it with you, they'll do it too.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yes, that's right, doctor Phil. Everybody, and let's see Michael.
Good morning at Germany down What up?
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Tell Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
This freaking guy like cut me off at end, wife
threw middle fingers at me, and then like, moments later
he got pulled over.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
By the cops.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
And what was your reaction to this life?
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Pass and buy him laughing.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
With eye contact and a sorry, not sorry, sorry about
your luck thrown in for good measure. Thank you for
the call this morning, Toby and Chilly in the morning.
If you want to jump in feel free eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one. In the meantime,
stay there your morning mindset words to get you ready
to take on this Wednesday in just about twenty minutes.
(04:32):
You are so important to us that every weekday morning
right around now, we pause to take a look at
your mindset with Toby and Chilly in the Morning here
at ninety seven point one wash FM.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
This is where we share a quote to get you
into a good headspace so you can take on the
rest of your day.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Found this one for you from the chairman of the board,
the mister Blue Eyes otherwise known as Frank Sinatra, who says,
the best revenge is massive success. The best revenge is
massive success. You don't even need to say anything, You
just need to continue to be successful. No matter what
comes your way. Some people may not like it, some
(05:09):
people may try to do you wrong, some people may
throw obstacles in your path. But you know what, you'll
get your revenge. They'll never see it coming, and that
revenge is massive success. Keep that in mind today as
you go after your success, and remember it's the best revenge.
If that helps, if you want to share it with somebody,
you'll find it. It's on the Toby and chilipage at
(05:30):
washfm dot com. That is your morning mindset for this
fifteenth day of January. In the nation's capital, ninety seven
point one WASHFM is on and Chili. You've got some
entertainment news. We call it showbiz Buzz. That's coming up
in just minutes. What's going down?
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah, so we're gonna tell you how Dojakat is teaming
up to help the Red Cross and those wildfire victims.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Entertainment news time here at ninety seven point one WASHFM,
commonly called showbiz Buzz. We're Toby and Chili in the morning.
Chili take it away.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Dojakat announced on Instagram and that she's teaming up with
the American Red Cross to design a line of merchandise
that will benefit the charity's fire relief efforts in la
She said that one hundred percent of the proceeds from
the sale of the specially designed T shirts and hoodies
will go to the Red Cross. Good news for Princess Kate.
(06:19):
She says that her cancer is now in remission. The
British Royal made the announcement in a statement that was
posted on social media yesterday. A French woman named Ann
was reportedly deceived by a scammer who was pretending to
be Brad Pitt. She apparently sent about eight hundred and
fifty thousand dollars to a user who allegedly relied on
(06:42):
AI images to create a celebrity persona. Anne even left
her husband because she believed that she was speaking with
the real Brad pit and John bon Jovi has written
an expansive new bon Jovi anthology. It's called bon Jovi Forever.
The two hundred and sixty four page limited edition book,
which comes in fifteen hundred handmade copies that were personally
(07:06):
signed by bon Jovi himself, is going to be published
in June, and if you want one, it'll cost you
three hundred and twenty five dollars, and finally, good news
for moms and dads with little kids. Miss Rachel, known
for her science based approach to Toddler's speech development, is
bringing her content to Netflix starting January twenty seventh. The
first season will consist of four episodes that were created
(07:29):
from Miss Rachel's popular YouTube series And that is your show.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
His buzz, good stuff. Thank you so much there, Chilli Jamara.
And for the news, don't go anywhere. Top stories at
the top of the hour. That's what we call the news,
and it is less than fifteen to twenty minutes away.
Hang out for a bit, unless you need to run
Ao Coffee, in which case.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Were Top Stories top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
The confirmation hearing for President elect Trump's pick for Defense
Secretary has wrapped up Army combat veteran in former Fox
News host Pete Hegseth said he wants to bring back
a quote warrior culture to the Pentagon. Meanwhile, House Speaker
Mike Johnson yesterday order that flags at the US capital
be raised to their full height on Inauguration Day, which
(08:16):
would pause a thirty day flag lowering order following the
death of former President Jimmy Carter. Choices are starting to
get a little bit slim when it comes to scoring
a hotel room in DC right before that Inauguration day.
Booking dot com says less than a quarter of all
the hotel rooms in the district are available for this weekend,
and prices go from anywhere from three hundred bucks a
(08:39):
night to two thousand dollars a night. A new report
on a deadly house explosion last year in Louden County
has been released. An investigators say they're responding firefighters missed
critical signs that would have led to a pause in
operations until has Matt teams arrived. The report also says
that more training is the on how to respond to
(09:01):
gas leagues and forget the ads, the halftime show, and
even the action on the field. Apparently food is the
most exciting part of the Super Bowl to most Americans.
The survey finds it only forty eight percent of fans
actually care about which football team wins the Big Game.
Forecast today bundle up, sonny and windy highs around thirty
(09:22):
two winchills in the teens right now eighteen in Annandale.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
You know how there are times you like to just
go hang out at Starbucks. Maybe it's for the re
free Wi Fi. Maybe it's because it's a warm place
to go hang that's not you know, maybe your house
or whatever. Well, your days a hanging at Starbucks could
soon be coming to an end. In fact, soon is
less than fifteen days away January twenty seventh. What does
this mean for you? And why? Got all the details
(09:47):
coming up? And we've got some conjecture on this as well.
We'll get to that in minutes. Stay with Tobychillian. Toby
and Chilli in the Morning on ninety seven point one
Washa film, Washington's variety from the eighties, nineties and today.
Did you see this Starbucks drinkers? The days of you
going into Starbucks and hanging all day with one cup
of coffee maybe over starting January twenty seventh, looks like
(10:08):
you're gonna have to buy something there, Chilly. I can't
really believe that this is becoming a thing, but apparently
it is.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah, you can't use their restrooms, patios or other facilities
unless you spend money there. I made the assumption that
that was already the case as far as like, I
didn't know people would just walked in, not buy anything
and hung out all day.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Oh yeah, there were times when I would work like
that whole ten am to three pm kind of show
shift thing, and I'd go in to get some coffee
before then I would go in afterwards to get a
little pick me up coffee, and the same person would
still be there from earlier in the morning. It's like
it's a place to congregate. They used to pride themselves
on them.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Well, no wonder I always had problems finding a place
to sit when I met my girlfriend for coffee. I
assumed that they were paying customers. But here's the part
of this that does bother me that you would have
to buy something to even use their restroom. See, when
it comes to the facilities like that, I think people
should be able to just go pee when they got
a pee, like you know, don't Yeah, what are you
gonna do? You're gonna actually follow me and see if
(11:10):
I bought a latte first before I bought something.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I'm not gonna begrudge that, And nor am I going
to try to pretend like I've never been that person
that's just rolled in with a purpose on a mission
to go to the bano and a place where I'm
not a customer. But I will say that I understand
the Golden rule, and they who have the gold makes
the rule, make the rules. And if Starbucks says, you
know what it costs us money to keep up with
these things, and you're just sitting here all day, using
(11:36):
our facilities and using our TP and using our stuff,
and we have to clean up after you buy something,
I can understand where they would say that. You know
where I see that more prevalently is in you know,
like gas stations if you're on a road trip.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Yeah, but they don't turn you down. You just have
to get a key to.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, they have to go and bag. Yeah, and if
you look, if you look suspect, they won't give you
the key. But anyway, that's interesting at Starbucks, anybody have
thoughts six nineteen seven forty three sixty one talkback microphone
is wide open two for you if you want to
speak your thoughts on having to pay to use Starbucks
and all the facilities in Starbucks. No more hanging out
in Starbucks all day is a bug you. We're not
(12:14):
gonna judge. We just want to hear what you have
to say. And speaking of hearing from you, we would
love to do that just right now, Kelby.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
And Chilly's nearly Impossible Questions.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Because we got us a game to play. What's the
question today?
Speaker 3 (12:25):
So nearly twenty percent of people start shopping for this
in the month of January. What is it?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Kylie Minoagu's coming to town. We got tickets Capital One
Arena in April. If you can answer that question right,
we'll all learn something new together and you'll win the
tickets to Kylie Minogue. So call now at eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one. Tilly, you
got the question one more time.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
For nearly twenty percent of people start shopping for this
in the month of January.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
What is it? Righty? Then you've got the question. If
you've got the answer, everybody will learn together and that's
the point of the game. Plus you winning free stuff
like Kylie Minogue tickets. So call now at eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one. Get it right.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Win Keby and Chilli's nearly Impossible question.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
In Midland, Virginia, Randy, you're ready to play this morning?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yes I am.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Here comes the question from Chili Omar. Just in case
there are people who might have missed it earlier.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Nearly twenty percent of people start shopping for this in
the month of January. What do you think we're talking about, Randy.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
Christmas gifts for the next year.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
When do you get started with your Christmas gift shopping
for twelve months from now?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
November?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, yeah, a lot of people do that in November,
but some people who are eager beavers, they they get
started in the middle of summer. Some people will start
after Saint Patrick's Day.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
And apparently twenty percent of people start shopping in January,
So that's the correct answer.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Congratulations. That means you're going to go to Kylie Minau. Yay, congratulations,
Thank you, Kyley Minogue. Tickets are yours the show's Capital
one Arena in April. You're going to the show right
now from ninety seven point one watch Chef m have
a great day. Okay, thank you and if you want
to win some tickets to see Kylie Minogue tomorrow morning.
Right around this time is when you need to be
(14:04):
listening for another round of your nearly Impossible Question with
Toby and Chilly. In the morning, you get the news
top stories at the top of the hour, which means, oh, look,
at the time we're almost at seven. You'll get caught
up with the latest news of the day in a
few stays right.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Top stories, top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Confirmation hearings continue on Capitol Hill today as senators question
more of President Electrump's cabinet picks. First up is Pam Bondy,
which is Trump's pick four attorney General. A group of
DC chefs are going to work together to raise money
for those who are affected by the wildfires burning out
in southern California. Nine chefs will prepare dishes for the benefit,
(14:44):
which is taking place tomorrow at the Duck and Peach restaurant.
Diners will pay one hundred and seventy five dollars for
the chance to enjoy a meal and help out LA.
There will be tons of changes to Metro for Inauguration Day.
Metro Rail is going to start running at four a m. Monday.
To accommodate the masses. Five stations are going to be
(15:06):
closed starting at eight o'clock Sunday night and will continue
through Inauguration Day. DC is encouraging property owners to use
their currently empty office spaces for other activities. Building owners
who convert their empty offices so they can be used
for other types of commercial or residential purposes can receive
a fifteen year property tax abatement. Organizers of the National
(15:31):
Cherry Blossom Parade say that Princess Ariel from The Little
Mermaid is going to be part of the event for
the first time. If interested, just put it on your calendar.
The parade is going to be held along Constitution Avenue
April twelfth, and according to a recent survey, only twenty
two percent of Americans are totally satisfied with the amount
of money that they've saved. Forty seven percent say the
(15:54):
high cost of living is the biggest thing that is
keeping them from saving more. Forecast today, make sure you
wear layers. It is going to be cold, sunny and windy,
thirty two the high wind chill in the teams right
now eighteen degrees in Bowie.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Toby, and chilly in the morning.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Chile.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm gonna need you to help me understand why I'm
feeling like maybe a family heirloom was rejected. Maybe I
don't know if that's the right word rejected, but.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
By your girlfriend.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, I feel like it was my significant other.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
There's a long story to it, but I'll digest it
into the reader's digest version for you, tell you about
it and if you have some thoughts on on either side,
would love for you to chime in at eight sixty six,
ninet two, seven forty three sixty one. Was it a
rejection or was it justified? We'll get into it in
a few hang out on this Wednesday, January fifteenth with
Toby and Chilli in the morning. That's on the way
(16:45):
in the next twenty nineteen eighty six, six ninety two,
seven forty three sixty one Toby and Chilly in the
Morning here on ninety seven point one wash fmd C
Washington's variety from the eighties nineties. And today I'm feeling
some sort of way Chili helped me figure this out.
I feel like over the holiday break, my significant other
rejected a family heirloom. In this case, the family heirloom
(17:05):
was my grandmother, Mimi. That was not her real name,
but I called her Mimi, so we'll stick with Mimi.
Mimi's original wedding ring, and it was a diamond wedding ring.
And I had always, you know, planned on someday finding
the right person. And I've certainly sampled enough at the
(17:26):
schmorgasboard of life to feel like I've found that person
finally after all of this.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
So when you bring up your grandmother's heirloom wedding ring
to your girlfriend, what is it?
Speaker 2 (17:37):
She said, don't get me that ring. Don't don't give
me her ring. I don't want to be responsible for that.
I've been married before and I lost a ring that
was very valuable and very expensive. I wouldn't be able
to handle that if I lost something so precious to
your family, which I can understand.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
So that makes sense. So she's coming from a place
of also knowing how important that ring is to your
family and not wanting the pressure and the responsibility of
wearing it every day.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Maybe that's not the response I was looking for or
hoping for from What.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Did you hope she would say when you presented that
is such an honor.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
She was the matriarch of your family. I know how
much you loved your Mimi and respected her, and oh,
that's just such a thing you. I love you.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
I know that's that's a fairy tale response.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
No, now I'm feeling very rejected even telling you this story.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Look, there's still a chance for you to get what
you want out of this as well. You could reset
the ring, or you could keep it the same and
have your girlfriend just wear it for different occasions instead
of just as a wedding rik.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Okay, let me take that case by case. Resetting the ring,
that's what I thought she would want to do, because
she has a certain style she likes. I don't know
how the diamonds would work with it, but I thought
about that and shout out at the disko.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Okay, she didn't want that.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
And then to your second point about having something nice
to wear for special occasions like pull it out of
we're going to a black tie dinner or something. Yeah, well, no,
I think that that ship has sailed because of the
rejection of said ring. And I told my mom about it,
and I think now that that ring is now in
the purview of my brother Zach's significant other. I think
my mom has kind of decided that now the ring
(19:15):
is going to move on, and perhaps maybe she'll be
the one to be the heir to the legacy of
the matriarch of the family. And now I'm feeling not
just rejected, Chilli, I'm feeling dejected, dejected, I tell you, dejected.
In fact, where's my phone? I'm going to need to
go get my better help app. Speaking of the better
help app, have you seen the story going around the
(19:35):
news about this app that could replace TikTok. It's a
Chinese app which essentially is another TikTok, but everybody's downloading
it because of the idea that TikTok might go away.
So we'll tell you more about that in case you
haven't heard about it, and then Chilli and I will
talk to you about a couple of apps that we
would love to seek much, you know, like that therapy
app maybe become a little bit more popular. We'll talk
(19:57):
in minutes and if you want to join the conversation.
It's an eighty six AI nine three sixty one. For
whatever reason, in the last week or so, people have
been going bonkers for this app that's just like TikTok.
Ninety seven point one, Wash FM, Toby and Chilly in
the Morning in Washington's variety from the eighties nineties and today.
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
(20:17):
is the number Chilly tell us about this app, and
it's because of the idea that TikTok could be going
away if they're not bought by an American company.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
So they're looking for a replacement. And Red Note is
another Chinese owned app that people are downloading at record speed.
And it got us wondering, like, okay, of all of
the different genres of apps, right, like, if we could
pick the type of app that we think we would
be it'd be useful to society? What would that be?
(20:47):
What do you wish everybody would know about?
Speaker 2 (20:50):
So call us and tell us what that would be
for you. And it's not that. What's it called red whatever?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Note?
Speaker 2 (20:55):
It's not red Note, which is essentially another TikTok. It's
not TikTok, but it does the same things that TikTok does.
But it's not to be confused with TikTok, although it
is owned by the Chinese company. I'm so confused by
all of it. But what would an app be that
you would want people to discover or do you think
people would be would find very useful? Chilling?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
The calm app. It's a meditation app. I use it
to fall asleep sometimes I use it when I'm having
a very anxious day. See something like that. I think
if everybody got on board something along those lines would
be very helpful to society.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
To your point on the whole calm and mental health
and when you get anxious. I think that an app
that's helped me that I think would help more people
if they got into it, is the better help app
where you can literally with a few clicks in a
few minutes, be connected with a therapist. Doesn't have to
be your everyday therapist, but can be a therapist for
right now that can listen to whatever you're going through
(21:53):
right now and help you find strategies to get through it.
That's an app that I think would be more effective
than some of these apps which have caused all these
mental health issues to begin with.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
That's true. I mean what's in need in society and
what app can do that for people that you wish
was more popular right on?
Speaker 2 (22:08):
So call us and tell us what that is for you.
If you want, you can have the talkback microphone. If
you're signed into your refreshed Diehard app, you can still
see the microphone there. Send us a voice note and
tell us our qualite sixty six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. Do that now and we'll talk more
coming up after we get through the news top stories
at the top of the Hour, which is next here
at ninety seven point one wash FF.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
President Biden is expected to give his farewell address to
the nation at eight o'clock tonight. He's expected to reflect
on his time in office and also talk to the
country about the future. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will
not be attending President Electrom's inauguration now. Her office did
not provide an explanation for why she won't be going,
(22:53):
and she also did not attend former President Carter's funeral
last week. Choices are starting to get a little when
it comes to scoring a hotel room in DC ahead
of Inauguration day. Booking dot com says at less than
a quarter of all the hotel rooms in the district
are available for the weekend, and prices go from anywhere
from three hundred dollars to two thousand a night. A
(23:15):
new report on a deadly house explosion last year in
Loudon County has been released, and investigators say that the
responding firefighters missed critical signs that would have led to
a pause in operations until the hazmat teams arrived. The
