Speaker 2 (00:05):

On this Friday, ninety seven point one WASCHEFM, I'm Toby
n Applong with Chili Amar.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome to Toby and Chilly in the Morning DC.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Because yesterday I got a pair of my new prescription glasses.
They weren't a pair that I really wanted to get first,
but nonetheless I got to rock them a little bit
out in the afternoon even though there wasn't much sun yesterday.
And I can tell an instant difference, at least from
the distance, because those are the ones that are just
one vision.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Oh so these are your sunglasses for driving with the
prescription sunglass, right, Well, that's cool.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
That has to take them off though, because they have
that blue light thing going on to where if you
see certain screens it doesn't show up. Yes, you're like,
wait a minute, what not take it off? And I'm
like punching in buttons. But anyway, so it's little things
like that. I don't know, I feel like a kid
at Christmas this week for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
What about you? Why are you feeling good on this
Friday morning?

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Okay, So it was nobody's parfeit. I promise it didn't
belong to an individual. But earlier this week, I guess
one of the meetings they had it catered like after
we leave, and they had some yogurt parfait in the
fridge like kind of take it if you want, And
I just had one this morning, and oh my god,
it was so delicious and it just brought me joy.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
You know, parfay well, you know, and if it is
there milk and yogurt, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Of course, there's so milk.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
I've found out this week just from some good discussions
with my doctors and my medical team about things that
are going on. I didn't realize this, but milk is
actually good for the liver. Yeah, it actually is. It's
it's good for the liver. It helps to like flush
out like toxins, helps to move things through and keep
certain levels where they kind of maybe should be. Okay, Yeah,
so you feel good about that and know that you

(01:45):
did good for your gi track too. There you go.

it was popular back in the eighties and stuff. Sure,

Speaker 2 (02:57):
All do that?

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Do don't you have sort of a crutch phrase?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
It is exactly. It's a crutch phrase. And my kid
would roll her eyes at cool Bean. She'd be like,
all right, just like she would roll her eyes with
me using other that's gnarly, dude, nar narly.

reason we get up this early in the morning. It's
ninety seven point one wash FM Toby and Chilly in
the Morning. And that being said, we worry about you
and your mindset. We think about you, and sometimes we

(04:50):
come across something that speaks to us and we think
maybe this will speak to you.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, So what is the quote you're going to share
with everybody? Today to get them into a good headspace.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Found this from Winston church and it's just very, very powerful,
and it's about success and failure. Success, what Winston Churchill says,
is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.
Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss
of enthusiasm. Yeah, you might fail, you might have this happen,

(05:22):
you might have something that the rest of the world
thinks is bad happening, failure after failure.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
But you know what's the enthusiastic through them? Why?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Because that's where success is found, stumbling from failure to failure.
Winston Churchill for the Wind this Friday morning, the seventeenth
or January. That is your morning mindset. If it spoke

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
US National Security Agency say there are no specific credible
threats at President Electrump's inauguration, but they're also calling Monday's
event a quote attractive potential target for violent extremists.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Now.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Agencies are on high alert following last summer's assassination attempt
on Trump and also the New Year's Day attacks in
New Orleans and in Vegas. Meanwhile, the high temperature on
Monday is going to be in the low twenties with
a wind chill in single digits. It is the coldest
forecast for an inauguration since the second ceremony for President

(08:54):
Reagan had to be moved indoors back in nineteen eighty five.
A hostage release deal has been officially reached between Israel
and Hamas. That deal will now go to Israel's cabinet
for approval. A crash sent a pickup truck off the
Arlington Memorial Bridge last night, plunging it into the icy
Potomac River below. Divers were dispatched to conduct a water rescue.

(09:18):
The sole occupant of this submerged vehicle was transported to
the hospital with life threatening injuries. Maryland Governor Wes Moore

(09:38):
those who make more than three point fifty a year. Well,
it seems gen Z homeowners are feeling the nineteen seventies vibes.
According to a survey, what's in for gen Z decor
is wallpaper, stained glass windows, and wood paneling forecasts forward today,
lots of sun hies in the mid forties today twenty nine.
Right now in Germantown.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
There you are listening to Toby and Chili in the morning.
Here on ninety seven point one was CHEFM coming up
in just a few minutes. Chili, you went on a
field trip yesterday and you did some stuff you've never
done before in our nation's capital.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
There are a couple of places we went to that
we've never been before. And now I know why I
skipped it.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
What okay, prepare to take some notes on some places too.
I guess avoid maybe next with Toby and Chili in
the morning.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
If you've ever been a chaperone, you're gonna want to
hear this. Toby and Chili in the morning.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
It's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM and no shame
if you haven't been a chaperon.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
It's busy these life. These days.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Sometimes you have dual income with kids and you both
have to work the job, so you can't go. But Chili,
you say, yes, you chaperone yesterday. It's not your first
time chaperoning, but you went some place that you've never
been before.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
And I grew up in the DC area, so a
lot of times when I chaperone my son's field trips,
I'm like, oh, yeah, I went there when I was
a kid. Yesterday, his fifth grade class went to two
different museums that are located right next to each other downtown,
the Museum of Asian Art in the Museum of African Art.
And once we got there, it became pretty clear that

(11:06):
this was probably not going to keep the attention of
eleven year olds. Now, if you're into art and historic
art specifically, fantastic, But we were part of a guided
tour and the downside of a guided tour is you're
forced to stand there and listen to a docent or
somebody who's giving the tour talk about whatever the artwork is,

(11:30):
and they give you a lecture.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Well, these doc that's the word. Yes, what does that
even mean. That's the first time I've ever heard that.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
It's an official word for somebody who's a lecturer at
a museum.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Museums total it is your sat word for the day.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
But they were just checking out, Like all the kids
were kind of like, uh, is this what we're really
going to do for the next two hours. So I
allowed my son to go to a bench and just
kind of sit, and I did not force him to
follow the group or go through the entire exhibit or
anything like that, because if I had, he'd become disregulated

(12:10):
really quickly. And what I noticed was other parents and
chaperones were starting to do the same thing. They were
kind of like removing themselves from the flow and kind
of like sitting down and you know, doing some other things.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Trying to let me.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Excuse myself real quick for the next hour.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Or two, because what we didn't want, Toby, is for
our kids to go kid and run wild.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yes, they were Rockshaw in the place, and the next
thing you know, you're at a museum where oh that's
older than the Ming dynasty was.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
That's the last thing.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
We wanted for them to destroy things that are two
thousand years old through the place. So we made the.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Most of it.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
And really the highlight was the bus ride. Riding a
school bus. That's always fun. I mean, come on, but
lesson learned, right.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
So long story short, Well, you ver ever go to
one of these museums just on your free.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Time, knowing that that's not part of our personal interests. No,
but we did it once and that's plenty.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
And now you know the rest of the story. And
if you're a chaperone, you can probably relate.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Shelby and Chili's nearly impossible questions.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Or if you've ever chaperone, eight sixty six, nineteen seven,
forty three, sixty one is the number.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
The question is seventy percent of people think this is
the most stressful place you can be.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
It is not a museum.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Oh I was gonna say, no, I know, it is
not one of those museums Chili went too.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Yesterday's a chaperone, It.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Is not that.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
But where do you think it is Connie Mino?

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Tickets up for grabs Capital One Arena in April Call
eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Here's the question again.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Seventy percent of people say, this is the most stressful
place you can be?

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Where is it?

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Holla right now, get it right, win the tickets and
we'll all win too, will learn something new together with
another round of your nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
That's on as we speak. The answer is coming.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Up Shelby and Chili's Nearly Impossible.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Raynold from Alexandria, Good morning and welcome. It's Friday in
the nation's capital. Here comes the question one more time
in case you missed it, and for those who might
just be joining us.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Seventy percent of the people thanks, This is the most
stressful place that you can be. Where do you think
we're talking about?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
It's in the airport?

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Do you stress out at Reagan, Dallas or even b
WI maybe?

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Oh everywhere? Really?

Speaker 3 (14:23):
You know, you can get good massages, sometimes you can
go to a lounge.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
They help to de stress you.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Well, if you're running late, you're not gonna have time
for any of that, which is why probably it's stressful
to try to.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Make your flights well. And there's that.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
That's a great guess. It's also the correct answer.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
Hey, thank you.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
This means you're gonna go see Kylie Minogue in April.
That the Capitol One Arena the ticket to yours. Congrats.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Awesome, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
And I don't know where your weekend travels may take you,
if anywhere at all, But if you're flying, may you
fly with no stress as you wait at the airport
because nobody has time for that. Were Toby and Chilly
in the morning ninety seven point one, watch m is
on and next week with your nearly impossible question, we have.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
One hundred dollars Trusso gift cards so you can buy
some nice.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Lingerie well Lingaree.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
On Monday, be here around six point twenty to play
and you could win with ninety seven point one. WASCHFM
need the news? Of course you do. This is a
news town. We thrive on it. So we'll get to
what you need to know, coming up with top stories
at the top of the hour around set.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
President elect Trump's inauguration is being called an attractive potential
target for violent extremists. US national security agencies laid out
various scenarios and the types of people who could make
them happen. Negotiators for Israel and Hamas have reportedly signed
a ceasefire and hostage deal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

(15:49):
released a statement saying that the families of the hostages
were informed a short while ago of the agreements. A
driver is in critical condition after pulled being from the
Potomac River following a crash on the Arlington Memorial Bridge
last night. First responders were called after a vehicle went
through the railing and into the river. The DC Council

(16:13):
has introduced a bill that would encourage recycling by charging
a deposit on bottles and cans, so residents would be
charged a ten cent fee when they purchase bottled or
canned beverages, and that deposit will be returned when the
bottles and cans are returned. The Washington Commander's game against
the Detroit Lions tomorrow is the hottest ticket in the NFL.

(16:36):
The average ticket sold on stub Hub for the game
has gone for about one thousand dollars. According to a
recent survey, eighty nine percent of teens living at home
are embarrassed by their mom and dad. Signs that you're
an embarrassing parent include trying to do some of those
viral TikTok dances, trying to use youth slang, and kissing

(16:59):
your kids in front of their friends. Forecast for today
lots of and highs around forty five. Right now twenty
nine in Centerville.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
All right, WASHFM news time is seven to ten, ten
minutes after seven o'clock. Coming up a story that will
bring you all the fields and'll make you feel good
on a Friday, compliments of Zane Gonzalez, of your Washington Commanders.
Why what's causing us to feel really good on this Friday?

Speaker 2 (17:25):
You'll find out Stay what's hoping at Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Here comes a story that'll bring forth all the fields
on a Friday. Ninety seven point one was chef And
you can't not feel good when you think about Zane Gonzalez.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Not just because he's a commander and he's playing.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
One of the biggest stages that I guess the commanders
have played in in the last decade or so. No,
but because of the personal battles he's had to overcome
just to be where he is now now.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Before he tried to kick that game winning field goal,
a video went viral of Gonzales taking off his helmet,
putting it back on, adjusting his hair over and over again,
and people, well they notice.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah, they called him nervous. They said it's nervous, but
Gonzalez says, no, it's not nervous. It's because I have
OCD obsessive compulsive disorder.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
I mean, you saw the reaction people. I was like, oh,
he's nervous. It's like, okay, it's not nervous. It's just
kind of a tick type. Dey'll coming up and reached
out to a couple therefist stuff like that, and they
just there's a different methods you go about it. And
for me, my big one is just sometimes whenever I can,
out of time, try to fight it a little bit.
But anybody that has us that he understands like that
mental battle is not easy. Like you truly think it's
it into the world or whatever that situation is.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
That you're going through that you think the worst.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
Possible situation come of it, and even though it's just
the most unrealistic thing ever, But that's just kind of
the way you think about it sometimes.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
You know what this story makes me feel good on
this Friday. It's because he's normalizing a conversation about mental health,
and it's somebody who's battled with my own mental health issues.
It is scary to talk about it and to admit
that you're powerless over it. But the more that people
like Gonzalez talks about it's in Gonzales and others, the
more you realize you're not so different after all.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
And I love how when he was a kid he
was always hiding it. Well, maybe kids who are seeing
this right now are going to be inspired to not
be ashamed or embarrassed of who they are.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
And when he makes the kick that ends up winning
this weekend, from our lips to God's ears, we're all
going to be like, oh, CD, what he nailed it.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Danka Zalis, thanks for giving us a story that really
does squeeze the heart, makes us feel all the feels
on this Friday. And lit'tle feel good for your Friday
with Toby and Chilly in the morning here at ninety
seven point one wash FM.

will share that with you.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Plus we want to hear from you, So feel free

into the conversation eight six six two seven forty three
sixty one. Survey says one in three people say their
partner acts like a baby win six. So how do
you know when your partner is getting sick? Let's talk
about it with Toby and Chilly in the morning here
at ninety seven point one wash FM. And if we
just rigger Jay six seven three sixty one, Shelly, how

(20:03):
do you know when your husband is starting to feel
under the weather?

Speaker 2 (20:08):
And does he know the same about you?

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Well, I make it obvious because I pretty much tell
him I'm not feeling well. Don is really stubborn about
admitting that he's coming down with something. He usually gets
a headache and his voice goes down and octave like
it gets a little bit deeper. And I know that
he's about to come down with a little something something.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
What about with you?

Speaker 3 (20:29):
That's well, that's interesting. So you're direct and he beats
around the bush. Sounds like most guys I know oh,
there you go, including me. We had a colleague. Her
name was gil. She used to know when I was
getting sick because when I would start to lose my voice,
I would step into.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
This very white looking sound and voice. But my part
and she was kind of like a work partner for
a long time.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
In real life, my significant other knows that I'm starting
to feel run down when I start to sleep a lot,
or when I start to fall asleep in the dornedest places.
And I'm not just talking about the couch. I mean
I could be sitting in the car, yeah, not feeling
some sort of way, and the next thing you know,
I'm like, you know, Sawn logs, that's right, what's wrong? Okay,
it's a sign he's exhausted. Eight sixty six nine two

(21:12):
seven forty three sixty one two Shan Tilly James, good morning.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
How do you know when your partner's getting sick?

Speaker 4 (21:18):
My wife starts to bundle up a lot with sweaters
and blankets and what he saws, that's how are you?
That's a great tell. When you got the chills, it
means a fever is coming right.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
After, Yes, absolutely, and you just can't get warm. Sounds
like I know from first hand experience. Right, Thanks James Erica,
what's up.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
