Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one Chef out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Feeling good first thing in the morning. No matter what
life might be bringing your way that you think is bad,
there's always a reason to feel good. It's why you
get up in the morning with Toby and Chilly in
the morning here at ninety seven point one Chef m
where we like to take your mind off the bad
in the world and start today by talking about something good.
And you know, today I'm feeling good about this new
fragrance that I've got on. It's different for me. It

(00:29):
smells like to me, like I just got out of
the shower at a hotel.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Yes, it smells good. I noticed it as soon as
you walked in, and not like noticed it in a
bad way, because you could notice something in a bad way. Yes,
but it does smell clean. That's a great way to
put it. It's a clean smell and not this heavy
like rustics whatever musty smell.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah. I've been chasing a certain fragrance that I love
to smell when I stay at this one hotel tell
in New York sometimes and I haven't been able to
find it. But when I guess it was Thanksgiving, I
was in Boston. I stumbled into the actual store where
the fragrances come from, or one of them, and they
tipped me off as to where that custom scent came from.

(01:17):
Tell us, it's by a company called the Labo and
it's called Noir. You know, why aren't Noir?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Like film noir?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
And it's uh. And it's just a different smell for me.
I'm not used to the Bergamont meets the team, meets
the whatever. But I you know what, if I smell
like I just got out of a shower, then that's
that's a.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Good thing right now? Is yes?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
In fact, I actually I intentionally bought like the little
small Tester just because I didn't know how it would be.
But if you like it, that's a good thing. So
I'm feeling good about that this morning. It's hard to
score these points when it comes to differousness with one chiliyamar,
Why are you feeling good today?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
I've got a hair appointment later, That's what comes to mind.
I get to be pampered.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
My roots yeah colored? Yes, I like having my roots
colored too. Oh wait, yes, that's good. You net to
sit back, relax, do you ever fall asleep while they're
doing your hair.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I definitely fall asleep during the shampoo because they put
in a deep conditioner and then they leave me in
that bowl for like fifteen minutes with my head back
and a towel under my neck, and I'm out like
a light.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
See little things, yes, like the nap that you get
when you get your herd data, or smelling like you
just got out of a shower. Eight six sixty three
sixty one. Why are you feeling good this morning? Listening
to us? Feel free to jump into the conversation. Speaking
of a conversation coming up next with Toby and Chilly
in the morning.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
What's this you're arguing about with your girlfriend at home.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Well, that's a long story, oh, I guess we'll try
to condense it to the reader's digest version and get
to it next. Don't go anywhere. I've noticed the disturbance
in the forest ninety seven point one, Wash up, Toby
and Chilly in the morning. That disturbance in the forest, Chili,
has to do with the climate controls in my place,
the air conditioning, and specifically the heat. I guess I

(03:10):
like it too hot now.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Okay, so between you and your girlfriend. You want the
temperature to be higher and she wants it to be lower.
What numbers are we talking about.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'd probably have it at seventy nine right now. She
would rather it be sixty five. No, she flat out
said to me, and I quote, I feel like I'm
sweating like in church. I'm like, okay, well, I'm not
really worried about your scruples, but i am worried about
the fact that I'm feeling cold.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Wait, I'm very confused. You and I are usually thermostat compatitis.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
That's work. We're fine at work, but it work. It's
at seventy talking about it at home.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
It's not different at home that you needed at week.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
It's cold at home. When I'm at home, I'm wearing like,
you know, home clothes, and I'm a little more relaxed
than I am right now.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Run some other clothes. I mean, I'm with her on this.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I'm sorry, I don't know that I need to bundle
in my own house.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Okay, there's always a compromise.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Well, I would think that there would be some sort
of compromise, but so far there hasn't been a compromise.
There's been a turn the temperature up, turn it down,
turn it off, and all of this has happened by
the way behind my back. But oh, I know because
I have one of those digital thermostats that remembers everything.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
M HM, and my husband and I when we have
this issue, he just uses an extra blanket, so thankfully
we don't argue about it at home.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
will good morning in Fairfax. Do you have any thermostat issues?
Some drama when it comes to the temperature at your place?
I am team layer up, sweaters, socks, layer up, don't
turn it up.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
I'm with you. See it's easier to layer up than
layer down. You don't want her walking around the place naked?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Maybe you do, you know, I mean you had me
a layer down. Good morning, turner thoughts on the thermostat.
What's up at your place? By the way, and thank
you for calling from Oxenhill. My mom really she always
insists on keeping is like colder.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
In the house, and I don't know why, but me,
my brother and I set that all wanted warmer. Of
course my mom is out of the house, so she
gets her way.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
That's right. Happy mom. All is calm.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I thought that was happy wife, and you'll have a
good life. I don't know. And Anna and falls Church
go ahead.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh, I always want it warmer. I've got the coldest
toes and fingers and it's rough. It's rough out there
in the winter.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I used to be like that until menopause.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And then there's that Toby and Chilly in the morning.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. So are you

and we ponder what inspires us in the form of
your morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yes, so what is the quote today.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
From the tennis grade Serena Williams. Maybe you've heard of her.
A champion is defined not by their wins, but how
they can recover when they fall. Serena Williams says a
champion is defined not by their wins, but how they
can recover when they fall. So, you know what, maybe
you've fallen, maybe you feel like you can't pull something off.

(06:35):
You know what, that doesn't determine whether or not you're
going to be a champion. You're defined not by your wins.
You're defined by how you recover from those times when
you fall short or when you fail completely. So don't
worry about the failures, just keep on keeping on. Serena
Williams with your morning mindset for this Tuesday, the fourth

(06:56):
of February ninety seven point one wash FM. Hope it helped.

You ready to go with Top Stories at the top
of the Hour coming up in just a few I sure,
am all right. Stay there, we'll get you that news
you need to start this Tuesday. Come up with Toby
and Chilly in the work.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
China is slapping tariffs on some US products as retaliation
for tariffs the president enacted. Beijing said it's going to
charge extra tariffs of fifteen percent on coal and liquefied
natural gas, along with ten percent on crude oil, farm equipment,
and some cars, all starting next week now. President Trump

(15:28):
did announce a one month pause on issuing twenty five
percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico after both countries committed
to reinforcing its US borders in an effort to reduce
the flow of fentanyl and immigrants. The NTSB says that
parts of the American Airlines jet that crashed into the
Potomac have now been recovered from the river, including the

(15:49):
right engine and parts of the fuselage, and they also
say more human remains have been recovered, they just need
to be identified. Meanwhile, two employees of the Metropoliti in
Washington Airports Authority have been arrested for illegally copying the
video of that plane crash and giving it to CNN.
A young person is facing charges in Charles County for

(16:11):
bringing guns onto the campus of the school he no
longer attends. The suspect was caught walking around the grounds
of Mattawoman Middle School in Waldorf yesterday morning while other
students were in class, and students are not supposed to
be on their phones at school, but a new study
finds that teenagers spend an average of ninety two minutes
of the school day on their smartphones, and that time

(16:34):
accounts for twenty seven percent of a teen's total daily
phone use forecast for today's going to be sunny and
breezy with highs around fifty five Right now forty five
in Germantown.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
You might want to get in on this conversation at
eight sixty six, nine two, seven forty three sixty one,
or if you're listening to ninety seven point one WATCHFM
on your new iHeart app, you can tap the talkback
microphone and send us a voice note. Tell us what's
the best thing to do when you're on vacation besides sleep?
It's really important to go on vacation to take care

(17:07):
of yourself. A lot of times we all let the
equation shift in the balance of work when we shouldn't
be working when we're on vacation. I like to do
a certain sort of a thing when I'm out. Chili
likes to do a certain sort of a thing when
she's out on vacation. What do you enjoy doing? Give
us a call, jump into the conversation. We'll dig deeper
coming up as Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Continue

(17:30):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning, where you are invited
to get involved in any conversation you hear Chili and
I have at eight sixty six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. Thanks for waking up in ninety seven
point one watch FM on this Tuesday. Question for the class,
what is the best thing to do on vacation besides sleep?
This comes up because we saw just this week even

(17:51):
more in the news that says if you don't go,
if you go on vacation and you worry about work
or you do things related to work while you're on vacation,
you're not really giving yourself all of the benefits of vacation.
But sleeping can't be a part of the thing, you
know what I mean, Because anybody can go someplace and sleep. Yeah,

(18:11):
that's not I'm not knocking you for that. Ad that's
what you need to do. You go ahead, but.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Have sleep retreats. They've got wellness retreats and those things
are amazing. But to me, those things would be kind
of boring if that's all I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Sure, you've got to be able to get up out
of your bed, your mattress. I love the w mattress,
love the addition merit. I think what y'all are doing
with some of your hotels, and it's all about a
good bed. But sometimes you got to get out of
that bed and enjoy things like a city or a
different place.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Okay, So can we We're gonna fantasize here, okay, And
we could do whatever we want on this particular vacation.
And the best thing for me would be a great
book in a in front of a body of water.
It could be a lake, it could be an ocean,
preferably the ocean. And if I could just read and
really have nothing on the agenda but kind of see
where the day takes me to me is perfection.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
And you, I'm with you on the way the day
takes you. But my whole problem is maybe it's not
a problem. Maybe it's just the adventure aside of me.
I like doing things to take me out of my
comfort zone. Like, for instance, I'd never gone scuba diving
before until I was in the Dominican Republic. I'd never
been to the Dominican Republic before. I'd never gone swimming
with a bunch of bioluminescence working around me in some

(19:22):
kind of weird bay, you know. So now it's like
I have to one up that adventure. We're way past
learning how to drive jeeps out at Nemacola right about now.
So for me, if it pulls me out of the
comfort zone, there's just something exhilarating and relaxing at the
same time about something thrilling like that.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
I get that and I respect that, you know, because
to your point, every destination has some sort of adventure
potentially attached to it, and you just want to sample
at least one of those things.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
And it all really started. Remember when our coworker Clinger
got married over in Italy. Yeah, and he's like, I
don't want to talk to you again until you tell
me that you've booked your flight to Italy. He had
to literally push me to do it, and I'm glad
I did because taking a train, even having those flight
issues you know, and whatever, that like haunted me on

(20:11):
that flight. If you if you don't know what I'm
talking about, go back and listen to the podcast Toby
and CHILIPAGEWATCHEFM dot com. You'll find him there. That stuff
was part of an adventure to me that made me
realize that I like just going to be a citizen
of the world and taking the world as it comes.
So where do you stand on this eight six, six,
nine two, seven forty three sixty one, the best thing

(20:32):
for you to do when you're on vacation besides sleeping.
What is it? We're not going to judge. We want
to hear what it is from you so that Chili
and I can maybe add it to our list of
things to do when we're on hot today, as it were.
But it can't be sleeping, So what is it? Tap
the talk back microphone to get involved. We'll get to
some of your stories. Coming up after eight is Toby

(20:52):
and Chilly in the morning continues in the meanwhile, don't
go too far because we don't want you to miss
another one of your crazy first sdid stories?

Speaker 3 (21:00):
This is a bit. Then DC introduced her child to
her date. Well find out what the kid did or
a fourth date coming up in just a few.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
That's right, you said kid on a first date.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
We're like, what, it's Toby and Chilly. It's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Here's Liz in DC with a crazy first date story.
We're all about to go on this adventure or misadventure,
as the case may be, So take us on this journey.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
I met this guy at the mall. I was new
to California, so it was kind of nice to you know. Finally,
like meet someone. Yeah, we kind of talked for a
little while and he asked me out on a date.
We went on a date. A few days later. He
came over to my house and my son was there.
I had a four year old son. He was like
talking to me and he was trying to engage with
my son and my son was not having it. And

(21:45):
then the guy got kind of like touchy feely. My
son like made a face and the guy turned around
and my son launched one of those matchbox cars and
hit him right in the middle of his forehead. Oh
it was terrible. So we went on the date, and
throughout the whole day I was looking at this guy
who had a knot on his forehead because my son

(22:06):
had beamed him with a car.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
So your son did not like your date getting all
kissy kissy, already flirty with mama.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Right exactly what happens next? You know, he kind of
was a little upset, but he kind of like tried
to brush it off. I was like, do you need
some ice or something? He was like, no, I'm okay,
I'm okay. Like a little guy has an arm on
him and I was like, yeah, I guess he does.
I'm so sorry, but the date was like crazy. His
BMW was like an old BMW that was falling apart.

(22:37):
The driver's side seat was broken. It was just it
was ridiculous. I never went on a date with a
guy again.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Remember when you get the time today, check out all
of these crazy first date stories yours to listen to
whenever and washfm dot com slash crazy and if you've
