Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wash up that well, good Friday morning, and welcome to
Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one.
Watchem Chilly. Why are you feeling good this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Just that it's Friday. Very grateful for that. And driving
in I did not get stopped in traffic.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
You didn't get stopped And I thought you meant stopped
by like a cop.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Oh too, I did not. I did not. But they
like closed down or the shut all lanes for like
fifteen or twenty minutes at a time, and I missed it.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, I thought I was thinking about you the other
day when I, Oh, it's never hearing about that traffic,
like coming over the Legion Bridge.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
It's like crazy, It's a whole.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Lot it is. But I'm good. How abou about you?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So the fact that there's a twenty four hour CVS
near me is a good thing this morning. Oh see,
I have a doctor's or not a doctor's appointment. I
have a therapy appointment after the show. And I have
to provide my own lotion in order to in order
not to itch underneath like this cast type thing.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
I'm wearing.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I'm oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, So I had to
go in and get some because I'm out. I watched
yesterday as it was gone, and then I'm like, remember
to do that. Well, of course I didn't remember to
do it, but there's a twenty four hour CVS nearby.
So I went to the twenty four hour CVS, grabbed
what I needed, ready to go right after we leave here,

(01:23):
right after.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
We're done, so I've got to get right into my frinday.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
I do wonder though, like places that are open twenty
four hours like that CBS. How surprised is the employee
when somebody actually rolls through the door at three something
in the morning to buy lotion?

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Well, well, you know, it is just a thing.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I mean, there's like, sir, you couldn't have waited until
the morning to get your itchy lotion.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well the itchy lotion, Like, you know, I need to
keep this in mind if I ever like have like
a headache or some kind of splitting kind of like
if I need day quill or something. Yeah, twenty four hours,
why not. But yeah, it's gotta be weird. Some of
the cast off care. There's the role in there in
the middle of the night. Yeah, and they're probably wondering why.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yeah, right, you couldn't have waited until the sun came up.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
It's funny, but hey, at least it gives them something
to do and they're not bored out of their minds.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Very true. Toby and Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
It's ninety seven point one, was chef m News is
on the way, top stories, it's top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
What's you're working on this early morning?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Well, in case you missed it, the Kennedy Center was
briefly evacuated after a bomb threat yesterday.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
All the details are just minutes away. As we get
this Friday morning.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Started to.

Speaker 1 (02:31):

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Top Stories presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. Well, the Senate
confirmed Cash Ptel as the next director of the FBI.
Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins were the only Republicans
who voted against him. Meanwhile, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell says
he will not seek re election next year. He was
the first he was first rather elected to the Senate

(02:55):
back in nineteen eighty four. The Kennedy Center was briefly
evacuated after a bomb threat yesterday. Authority say a threat
targeting a schen Unit performance led to the evacuation and search,
but nothing was found and the performance was clear to proceed.
A group of thieves that had allegedly been targeting Montgomery
County retailers is now in custody. The three women and

(03:19):
a teenage girl hit the Lululemon store in Gaithersburg, grabbing
ten thousand dollars worth of clothing before running off. One
suspect was stopped at the door and police caught up
with the others nearby. Well, don't be surprised if your
tab gets higher the next time you visit a bar
in Maryland. That's because the state has raised its annual

(03:40):
liquor license renewal fees for most establishments by more than
one thousand dollars. And Amazon MGM Studio is reportedly going
to be paying longtime James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson
and Barbara Broccoli around a billion dollars for creative control
of the franchise. Amazon actually wants to push Bond towards

(04:00):
a Marvel or Star Wars like franchise with a TV series,
spin off, films, and other related properties. Forecast for today
partly clouding, windy highs in the mid thirties right now,
twenty two in Noakesville.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Stay right there. Every weekday morning around this time.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Something that we help will help you as you get
ready to take on a new day. This is your
morning mindset for Friday, the twenty first day of February.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
We try to get you into that better headspace by
sharing a quote with you.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Comes to you from Michael Jordan today. You must expect
great things of yourself before you can do them.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Michael Jordan the Goats.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
You must expect great things of yourself before you can
do them. Expect that greatness of yourself. It doesn't matter
what other people think. If you expect great things for you,
you'll be able to go out and make those great
things happen. Keep that in mind, and as we get
ready for the weekend, as we go through this Friday together,

(05:04):
and if it helped you, that quote you'll find it
because maybe it'll help someone else and you can share
it from the Toby and chilipage at washefm dot com.
Lots of interesting pregnancy cravings floating around the Internet of things.
I've never been pregnant, but I know many people who
have been, and I know that they crave the strangest things.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
But dish soap, well, yeah, this woman addicted to the
smell of us very specific dish soap. But we are
curious about what your stranger's pregnancy craving was.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
The numbers eight sixty six, ninety two, seven forty three
sixty one. If you want to jump in this early
morning and you've got some thoughts, what was that craving?
We'll talk about it coming up next State of I
don't know if you saw this this week over on TikTok.
Were Toby and Chilly in the morning at ninety seven
point one?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
WASHEFM?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
This woman has very strange pregnancy craving A certain brand
of soap, a certain kind of dish soap to be exact.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Oh, do have you.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Ever had a pregnancy craving much like that? When I
was pregnant, I craved cheese and juladis eight sixty six,
ninet two, seven forty three sixty one Were Toby and
Chili in the morning?

Speaker 4 (06:10):
You actually were pregnant?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I was not Yeah, you were pregnant with your son,
you didn't have a craving or no, no, actually I didn't.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I may have been one of the rare women who
was pregnant who didn't have any crazy cravings. I ate
normal food and normal food combos.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
No cravings for popcorn in the middle of the night,
no cravings for chocolate.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, but those popcorn and chocolate are normal foods. I'm
thinking strange cravings.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Oh really, are you talking about strange cravings? Like Lisa
who lives in Rockville, who had a strange craving not
creen cheese and bananas.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
I would cut it.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Banana is up in the four little.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Pieces, exactly four. Lisa says, they're chili.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, no, no, no, no. That that sweet and salty
mixture is usually a good thing. Those two I would
not put together.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Now, what about Rachel and Vienna who had a strange
craving for it was when I had my second style,
it was butter beans and bananas.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
How exactly does that even work there? Rachel?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
And what is it with these bananas combining them with everything?

Speaker 1 (07:09):
You matched the bananas with the butter beans. That's really good.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Thank you for the call this morning. Butter beans, chili.
I feel like I want to say, I'm going to
have to take your word for it.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
And I'm not even sure why a banana keeps popping
up with these food cravings.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I know, bananas, butter beans. What could be next? Rachel
listening to us in false church, go ahead. The French
cut green beans out of the can, and I literally
would open the can and eat them out.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Of butter beans, green beans, legumes apparently very popular to beans.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
You don't know about these lagoons or whatever you call them,
but I do know about free hollies, refritos, refried beans, chilling.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Good thing you're not pregnant, otherwise you'd be doing the
gas X.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Stay there because Toby and Chili in the morning get
very gassy with your news. Top stories at the top
of the hour on the way passed to tell them.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
How federal judge says President Trump's mass firings of government
employees can continue for now. Judge said that the federal
court was not the appropriate avenue for the labor Union's lawsuit.
Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his retirement and
will not be seeking reelection in twenty twenty six, after
he served for seven terms. He declared his decision on

(08:28):
his birthday, eighty third birthday yesterday. The Senate confirmed Cash
Patel as FBI director yesterday to Republicans. Senator Susan Collins
and Lisa Murkowski opposed him, citing concerns over his political past.
DC police arrested two young girls who are allegedly connected
to an assault that happened outside Union Station earlier this month.

(08:51):
Investigators say that multiple girls walked up to a woman
outside the station Sunday and started punching and kicking her.
Reducing the federal work force is having a huge impact
on the DC area's unemployment figures. The Labor Department says
for the week ending February eighth, jobless claims in DC
rose by thirty six percent and Virginia saw a twelve

(09:14):
percent jump. DC's Attorney General is suing the Taleya restaurant
in Cathedral Heights for allegedly underpaying employees and also refusing
to pay them over time. The lawsuit wants the restaurant
to change its policies and to pay compensation to the
affected employees, and Metro is going to be expanding the
use of an app that gives more access to the

(09:34):
blind and visually impaired. Way Map is an app that
gives turn by turn and step by step audio instructions
to writers throughout their entire trip, and it's now available
across the entire metro system. Forecast today partly cloudy and windy,
highs in the mid thirties right now twenty two in Ashburn.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Have you ever heard of the dessert stomach? It's a
thing and apparently it shows up when you think you're
stuffed at dinner, but oh, there's room for just one
more thing. If you haven't heard of this, you will.
We'll tell you all about it. We'll talk about it too.

(10:13):
Coming up with Toby and Chili in the Morning. I
don't know if you've ever heard of dessert stomach, but apparently,
according to scientists, it's a real thing. Ninety seven point
one watch f M. Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
Gets this feeling where after a really big meal, when
you're stuffed, you swear you can't eat anymore, but in
just a little bit later on in the course of

(10:34):
the evening, you decide you're craving something sweet dessert For
some reason, the stomach always has room thoughts eight sixty
six nine two seven forty three sixty one.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Absolutely, I do have a second dessert stomach. And here's
when it usually happens. When I have an especially savory meal.
There's just this need to cleanse my palate with something sweet.
And by the way, I'm not talking about like a
whole piece of cake. Even if it's a bite of
something or a piece of chocolate or something, I absolutely
have room for that. Not you though, so like a

(11:09):
bite or so something something. Even when I'm swearing I
can't eat another bite, Oh yes I can. If it's
a piece of desserts.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
To change it up, I would say that I would.
It's heavily modified. But for the most part, I can
go without a dessert. I don't have to have it.
It might look savory, it might look tasty. I think
of key lime pie when I say that. You know,
when you're full, you're full. You don't have this second
wind when it's time, when it's time to leave the table,

(11:39):
I leave the table because when I get full, I
get really full, and it can become painful and it
can lead to other things, and I don't want to
have to deal with all of that, so it's not bueno.
So for me, the dessert stomach was well was a thing.
But that's why it's no longer a thing. If you
know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Ask your doctor about bariatric surgery.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Oh interesting though, Yeah, and I actually have heard funny
you mentioned that with the surgery. I've heard some girlfriends
who are on a GLP one. They too say once
they're full, they genuinely are full, that they cannot physically
have another bite of something or a desire for it.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Well, that would explain the science behind it, you know,
because the nerve cells that are kind of affected by
the GLP one are the same things that aren't present
if you've had like a gastric surgery. From what I've
been told by doctor Green my gastric docts.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
So you and I will never share a dessert, I
guess no, that's.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Right, that's right.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
I'll be the cheap data and you'll be the date
that gets the savory end of the dinner tasty goodness.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Now I'm kind of jealous.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Kelby and Chilly's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Six seven forty three sixty one is the number this
week you're playing for?

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Tickets to see lumineers. Here's the question, Well.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
This animal can have up to three thousand teeth. What
animal is it? Mm?

Speaker 2 (12:53):
If you know the answer, call right now eight sixty
six ninet two seven forty three sixty one. Here is
the question one more time for those lumineous tickets.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
This animal can have up to three thousand teeth? What
animal is it?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
If you know the answer, Halla, you know the number
eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one,
call now, play get it right? When will I learn
something new together? And that's the point of your nearly
impossible question. The answer is coming up Toby and.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Chilly's nearly impossible.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Question, and the question this morning would be, this animal
can have up to three thousand teeth? What animal is it?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Oh? Look, Laurel, it's Keith. Keith.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
We thought you didn't like us anymore. Normally you would
have called the play by now.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Oh I'm still dialed in. It just could not the answer.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Oh well, well hold on, now, what makes you think
you've got the answer this morning? What do you think
it is?

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, you don't know or we never know for sure,
but let's give it again. Of go ahead, shark shark?
Why do you say a shark there, Keith from Laurel,
because I had a couple smile at me.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
I said, wow, that's a lot of teeth.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Okay, now you're now you're making stories up this morning there, Keith,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
No, you were saying I.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Caught a shark down in North Carolina, but it wasn't.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
A big one. Oh right, well you were fishing.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Well, all of a sudden the shark said I'm coming
to see Keith, and I'm going to smile at him.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
That's an excellent guess. But specifically it is a whale shark.
So now you learn something. Yeah, they have three thousand
can have up to three thousand teeth.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Up to three thousand, Keith, that's a lot of teeth.
Can you believe it? That's a lot of toothpaste.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Wow, wow, that's toothpaste too. You caught a shark, man,
there's nothing Keith can't do. Now you're going to go
see the lumineers. Congratulations Keith, all because you knew that
sharks whale sharks specifically have up to three thousand teeth.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Enjoy the show. Thank you very much, guys.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Well maybe next week you can call back and try
to win these four pack of tickets to go see
Kids Bop at Peer six Pavilion in July, thanks to
our friends at Live Nation. That is our nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Price like something you'll love doing next week? There, Keith,
seeing Kids Bop at Peer six. Come on now, that's
going to be a great show for you.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Pop.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
There you go, We'll enjoy the show.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Congratulations on the lumineers and have a great weekend.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Yeah, y'all have a great weekend too, You too.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
There, Keith, Hang on the line and get ready for
Top Stories at the top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
That's the news, It's on the way.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
The Senate is adopting a budget resolution after pulling an
onliner to get through all the amendments being tacked onto
a GOP proposal of Senate Democrats file dozens of amendments
in opposite position rather to the budget plan. Case you
missed it, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell says he's not going
to be seeking re election next year. He was first

(15:44):
elected to the Senate back in nineteen eighty four. The
Washington Post says that President Trump is expected to issue
an executive order as soon as this week to fire
members of the US Postal Service governing board and place
the agents under the control of the Commerce Department. However,
the White House says that report is not true. DC

(16:07):
Mayor Muriel Bowser says the president's call for more federal
control of the city is an unnecessary distraction. She said
yesterday that the president's comments have created anxiety in the
city and really don't make sense given his push to
reduce the size of the federal government. Metro says that
the Tenley Town, Friendship Heights and Bethesda stations are going
to be closed this weekend as CRU's work on a

(16:30):
switch replacement, as well as leak repairs and cable installation.
And according to a recent survey, women judge guise for
the way their homes look, and some decor issues can
be a deal breaker. Thirty eight percent say that having
too many photos of yourself on display is not a
good look, and forty three percent of women have a

(16:51):
really big issue with keepsakes from an ex girlfriend on display.
Forecast for today partly cloudy and windy, with highs around
three thirty five right now twenty two in Bowie it's a.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Story that'll give you all the fields and restore your
faith in humanity on this Friday. You're ready to feel
good on a Friday, Well, you might want to hear
this story that we've got for you coming up that
will give people the chance to get food in a
very particular way, a food forest kind of way.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
What's a food forest?

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Stay there you'll find out in minutes with Toby and
Chilly in the Morning with Donna.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
At seven twenty three ninety seven point one. Watch at
them Toby and Chilly in the Morning.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
New Carrollton turning a small park into a ford of
food forest thanks to the arrival of the Purple Line.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
So what exactly is a food forest?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Well, we're gonna tell you with a story that we
think might just bring you all of the fields on
a Friday. And it feels really good to tell you
about this.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
So on Tuesday, New Carleton got a three thousand dollars
grant from the Purple Line Transit Partners and that money
is to transform what is now Veterans Park, which is
a small green space on Riverdale Road that honors local veterans,
into a food forest this spring, where the entire community
can enjoy it.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
The mayor of New Carrollton says they'll be fruit trees,
nut trees. I haven't seen a nut tree before, very bushes,
different edible plants that will enhance the beauty. These are
her words, not mine. They will enhance the beauty and
the work of trying to help out our community. And
when you think about it, I mean poppaw trees, different berries,

(18:35):
other edibles and stuff that can be harvested year round.
That's a great thing for the community because it gets
people outside, it gets people making their own food, and
it also beautifies the area.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
But when they're ready to be picked, they're gonna let
the city know. They're gonna let all the folks in
Near Carrollton know, and then you can go and get fresh,
free food. Like you can just walk through this park
and pick your berries and.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Bring the bag, get a reusable one.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Just walk through and be like, I'd like some of this, please,
and I'll have some of this please.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
I would love to be able to do that. I mean,
that's taking a produce section and bringing it to nature.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
And that's why it's a story that feels good on
a Friday. Yeah, I feel good Friday story as it
were bringing forth all the fields because all of the
nuts and all of the fruits and all of the
berries and New Carrollton will soon be available for free.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
And if you want to read this story, because now.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Maybe you live near New Carrollton and near that park
we just told you about, you might be going, hm,
where is this? You can find out more the Toby
and Chili page at WASHFM dot com. Stay right there
because coming up in a few minutes. The Internet of
Things has lots of different videos and stuff which is
going viral. And now there's something very famous that a

(19:49):
lot of people are following.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Chills.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Okay, Howie the crab was apparently an Internet famous crab
and unfortunately how we passed? And God is wondering in here.
I mean, is there really an internet famous animal that
you follow online?

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Eight six, six, nine two seven forty three sixty one.
Tell us about these these famous animals online that you follow?
Why do you follow them? What is the fascination? We'll
get into this next is Toby and Chilli in the
morning continues. Feel free to call now to tell us
all about the one in your life. Can we tell
you lately? Thank you for waking up with Toby and

(20:24):
Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash Chef.
Then you can also use to talk.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Back microphone to get ahold of us, leave us a
message if you're signing to your iHeart up.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Sometimes that's just easier when you want to jump into something.
You hear Chili and I talking about this morning or
any morning on the show, and people this morning Chilly
are inconsolable over this famous crab, famous on the Internet
of things.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
This crab, Yeah, his name is Howie. Apparently he went
viral for eating caviaar and he has died at the
age of nine, and the Internet is completely heartbroken. And
you know, I see this pop up on my news
feed and I'm like, I'm heartless because I see how
he is potential dinner. I don't get people's obsession with
following internet famous animals. I don't now. I will say
that years ago with April the giraffe who was pregnant

(21:11):
at the San Diego Zoo. Yet did I watch that? Sure,
but that was sort of a shared communal experience, and I, yeah,
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
I haven't done it since you've been reel it in
closer to home, you get to the DMV, you've got
the Smithsonian National Zoo, and you've got the panda cameras.
You know, people have to check on these animals. They
become a part of your life. Are they part of it?
You've become invested in in little Howie the crab and
what you know, he's no longer with this. You want
pull one out for Howie? No, I never watched Howick. Okay, well,

(21:41):
but I do know about following famous animals on the
Internet of things.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
That's right, Like, have you heard of King Clarence the
Black Lab. No.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
King Clarence is a black Lab from Champion bloodlines, and
he's not happy with his humans. Sometimes sometimes he's very
affectionate with goats. But by the way, the affection for
the goats is that he's affectionate about toy stuffed goats.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Don't get it twisted.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
And his antics and shenanigans make for mindless, mindless content.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
You just watch this.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
You've become invested in their lives and they've become a
part of your life.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
