Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one,
wash up out every days.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
And you did it feel good about something? Toby and
Chile in the morning ninety seven point one? Washefn feeling
good this morning because on the drive in I felt
that breeze. I know it means the storm's coming, But Chili,
how can you not like the calm of that? Just
wing as like the world, you can tell things are
changing a little bit. It just felt good. It's one
(00:26):
of those things that I've just I've liked since way
back in the day in Florida.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
The calm before the storm.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yes, exactly, that's exactly the calm before the storm. What
about you?
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Well, I'm just grateful that we've got a roof over
our heads because that is gonna be something else. I
hate the word tornado, but there might be some tornadic
activity in the DMB, so we'll have to keep an
eye on that. And I'm glad I don't have any
errands to run today. Well, I got everything done yesterday luckily.
Really the only thing I've got to do, and I
(00:57):
got to plan this accordingly. And you know, because you
have a dog, is that dog walk? Because the worst
of it is gonna be between noon and four. So
if I just get her out before that time frame,
we don't have to deal with.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
This is sokay, dude, that is horrible because I have
a twelve noon daily meeting with my therapist about my legs.
Then at like after that, at one point fifteen, I
have a meeting with.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Oh, you're gonna be out in this way with.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
My doctor, gi doctor. Oh, good lord.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, you're gonna be in the thick of it. Good luck.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah. But like it's done, like Toto and your little
dog too, blowing away.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Top Stories at the top of the hour, what's coming
up in just a few minutes with.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
The news, We're gonna recap some of what President Trump
said during his address in front of Congress last night.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Top Stories presented by Celsia's Energy Drinks Well. In the
longest speech ever delivered in such a setting, President Trump
touted his leadership and plans for the US in front
of Congress last night. He talked up his efforts to
bring Ukraine to the bargating table with Russia. He also
touted sweeping tax cuts, energy independence, transgender issues, and so
much more, several Democrats walked out in protest, and Texas
(02:10):
Democrat Al Green was escorted out. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser
announced yesterday that Black Lives Matter Plaza will be transformed
into a mural project that celebrates America's upcoming two hundred
and fiftieth birthday. That move comes after Republicans introduced a
House bill that would deny funds to DC unless it
(02:30):
was renamed Liberty Plaza. Two men have died from gunshot
wounds and two others were injured after a disagreement during
a pickup basketball game turned deadly. This happened in Anarundel

of disagreement involving the four victims before the gunfire. Aisha
brave Boy declared victory last night as unofficial results showed
(02:53):

Prince George's county executive. That special primary election was held

that natural gas was not believe to be a factor

and four, we may get some damaging storms, so watch
out for that highs around sixty one right now fifty
five And Jevy Chase.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
You might be surprised to find out that your morning mindset,
which is coming up in a little bit, is about storms.
We'll get to that coming up. It's Toby and Chilly
in the Morning. Continues, Good morning, Toby and Chilly in
the morning, and it's time now for your morning mindset
at ninety seven point one watch FM.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
So this is when Toby shares a quote to get
us into a good headspace and.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
This morning this was not intended, but it's from Dolly
Parton who says that storms make trees take deeper roots.
Given the weather we just heard about in the news
top stories at the top of the hour, that's kind
of appropriate, don't you think. Dolly Parton says storms make
trees take deeper roots. Take on the storm today and
let it help your roots to grow, because trees don't
(04:16):
blow over that often when their roots are deep enough,
how deeper yours work on making them deeper today? Did
that help? If so, you can find it the Toby
and chilipage atwashfm dot com. Send it to somebody who
might need to hear it today as you start this
brand new day. Were Toby and Chilly in the morning.
We're coming up next.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
We're going to talk about your name or how you
came up with your children's name. A couple of people
are calling based on our conversation yesterday Toby about the
trend of giving last names as first name, so they
want to chime in now.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
The numbers eight sixty six nine two seven three sixty one.
If you want to join the conversation too, that's well,
you look good. Good morning Toby and Chilly in the
morning at ninety seven point one one wasch FM with
the number is eight six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one. Talkback is also wide open all morning
for you. If you're signing to your iron up and
you want to say something, send something o away. We're
(05:12):
always listening. Yesterday, Chilli, we were talking about how you
got your name.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, so there's a trend where people are giving last
names for their kids' first names, and that opened up
the whole conversation of well, how did you come up
with your kid's name?
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Cec King, George, how did your kid get their name?
Go ahead?
Speaker 6 (05:30):
I have two girls. The oldest is named Aria and
the youngest's name Harmony. Aria is the Italian Workers song
and the Little Mermaid was coming out. I heard a
commercial and I wasn't painting this attention with the accents
of the crab and stuff, and I knew the storyline
the thing. I thought that he called her Aria, and
I was like, oh, that's perfect, And then I found
(05:51):
out it was Ariel, and I was like, oh, no,
Aria is better.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
They should have used that.
Speaker 6 (05:54):
So I decided right then and there that whenever I
had a daughter, I was in the neighbor Aria. And
when I'm at my daughter's father and we were gonna,
you know, have a baby, and everything I told him.
I said, if it's a boy, you have a choice.
If it's the girl, her name is Aria.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
And there's no discussion and McClean, good morning flann again,
Howard things I things are great.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Helvia Chili, your first name is Flanagan.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
That means somebody decided to give you a last name
as a first name.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
It's my grandfather's last name, and so my dad brought
it back when I was born. How did that go with?
Like your friend's circle, you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (06:29):
They changed me.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
They came up with the nickname flooney Tunes, bloney Tunes,
Wow woone tunes. Yeah, but it got better in college.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Became Flanderson.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Flanderson because your last name. Oh that's actually a very
clever combo right there.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Right yeah, I like that one.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
So Flannagan, I will say, even though it may have
been frustrating for you, I personally think that is very
unique and cool to have as a first name.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Well appreciate that. Thank you, No, thank you for jumping
in for telling us how your kid got their name.
By the way, if you want to jump in, you
can leave us a message via talkback. If you're signed
into your iHeart app, all you have to do is
tap speak and send. We look forward to hearing from
you this morning. Top Stories at the top of the
hour that is minutes away. That's what we call the news.
(07:20):
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
In the longest address ever to a joint session of Congress,
President Trump talked about his efforts to bring Ukraine to
the bargaining table with Russia, also about sweeping tax cuts,
energy independence, transgender issues, and more. Several Democrats walked down
in protest, and Texas Democrat Al Green was escorted out
after he refused to sit down and was yelling at
(07:46):
the president. The US and Ukraine could reportedly sign a
rare earth mineral deal soon.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yesterday.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Ukrainian President Zelensky described last week's heated Oval Office meeting
as regrettable and said his country is ready to sign
and agreement on minerals and security with the US. Three
men under arrest for allegedly sexually assaulting a child and
then filming it in her Woodbridge home. Police says she
was able to leave the house and went to an
(08:14):
area of business where she was able to call police.
A new piece of legislation aims to rename DC's Black
Lives Matter Plaza. A Republican congressman introduced a bill that,
if passed, would force DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to rename
the plaza or lose federal funding. Bowser says she will
rename it and will not jeopardize much needed funding, and
(08:37):
according to a recent survey, more than ninety percent of
employees experience meeting hangovers that can derail productivity. Long after
that meeting ends. These workers are left brooding about the
frustrations from bad meetings, which then negatively affects their workflow.
Forecasts forward today, it's going to be potentially stormy between
(08:58):
noon and fesome damaging wins sixty one the high right
now fifty five and Chantilly.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Remember Toby and Chilli's top stories is the news and
you get it every hour weekday mornings when you wake
up with ninety seven point one wash chef m speaking
of studies and surveys coming up in a few minutes.
Is there some irony behind the phrase the pursuit of happiness?
What if we knew that happiness was making us miserable
(09:30):
pursuing it exactly? Stay there, think about it. We'll talk
coming up. There's something very ironic about this study. Toby
and Chilly in the morning, ninety seven point one was
CHEFM at eight sixty six nine two, seven forty three
sixty one talk back wide open two, feel free to tap,
speak and sent. And by the way, thank you for
(09:50):
making us preset number one on your iHeart app. Chili.
I don't really know that I understand how this can
be possible. But the study says the pursuit can't be
happy if we're pursuing happiness.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Yeah, the act of pursuing happiness is basically draining you
mentally and making you unhappy. So instead of forcing happiness,
they're saying, just let it flow and appreciate what's already
good and let everything just fall into place.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Does that make sense to you?
Speaker 4 (10:23):
I get what they're trying to say, but telling somebody
not to try to be happy is like telling somebody
not to breathe. I mean, it's like a natural thing
for us to try to pursue. The downside for me,
at least, is my happiness is tied to my son's
well being, physical and emotional well being. And I think
anytime your happiness is attached to somebody else, well, that
(10:43):
could be a problem because you can't control what happens
to that person or what's going to happen with that.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
But I don't know. I mean, what about you? Where
do you think your downfall is.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
That I always look for the grass that's allegedly greener
on the other side upon reason and belief, and I
don't know that it is is it just never has been.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
See.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
It can be in a relationship, or it can be
with work, it can be in anything. I can be
totally content with what I've got right now, but I'm
gonna go try to look and see what. Well, maybe
there's something over here, it's like the pokey little puppy thing.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Then that this is exactly what the research shows. And
in doing that, well, you're not really appreciating anything you have,
so you're never gonna be happy.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
So that's why I ultimately end up disappointed all the time.
Who knew the things you learned?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
This was a free session.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Next time, I'm gonna charge you one hundred and seventy
five dollars for this conversation.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Okay, then with Toby and Chilly in the morning. Hopefully
this won't cause you any misery this morning.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Here's the question.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
The average person will spend six months of their life
waiting at this place.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Okay, where is it?
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one,
And that's the number you want to go see, Kay Perry.
Thanks to our friends at Live Nation, you could take
these tickets if you can answer that question correctly.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Okay, so the answer the question again.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
The average person will spend six months of their life
waiting here where is it?
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Eight six, six, nine, two, seven, three sixty one? Thank
you Live Nation tickets, Katy Perry. They could be yours.
What's the answer to the question? Call now? Get it right.
You could win and we'll all learn something together.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
What's the question again?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
There, Chili, the average person will spend six months of
their life waiting at this place?
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Where is it?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
All right? Katy Perry tickets thanks to Live Nation up
for grabs. Let's go to Alexandria. Good morning, Freda. How
are you today?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yes, I'm good.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
I'm about to go to work.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Well, we don't want to hold you up. You've got
the question, what's your guests stop light?
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Maybe you're sitting one right now.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Do you wait at red lights? Often?
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Yes, because they drive to walk to.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
From Alexandria.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
And the worst is when you time. It's so bad
that you feel like you're stopping at every single one
of them on the way in.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Right, It's that feeling that you just can't win.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Freda, very good point.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Well, even though you feel like you just can't win
at red lights, that is the correct answer today.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
So you did win Katie Perry tickets. We think that
that might be worth running late for. Congratulations.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Thank you so much, guys, Thank you, I listened to
you every morning.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Well, thank you for that, Freda, and thank you for
playing this morning. Congrats on the win with Toby and
Chile in the morning. Where you've got the news, Top
stories at the top of the hour, on the way
in minutes.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
President Trump touted his leadership and plans for the US
in front of Congress last night. He talked up his
efforts to bring Ukraine to the bargaining table with Russia.
The president also touted sweeping tax cuts, energy independence, transgender issues,

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Was escorted out.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
The Trump administration says it's looking at selling three hundred
and twenty federal properties. The GSA says that most of
them are either empty or underutilized office spaces and could
save the government more than four hundred and thirty million
dollars in annual operating costs. Classes are in full swing
at the University of Virginia's newest campus in Fairfax. Nine
(14:25):
of the university's twelve schools will offer instruction at that
satellite campus. The lottery for free tickets to attend the
annual White House Easter egg Roll opened at noon yesterday.
The link to enter is at Recreation dot gov. That
lottery will close at noon on March tenth, and then
winners will be announced in March eighteenth. The event itself
is April twenty first. Today is Ash Wednesday, Catholics around
(14:49):
the world, marking the beginning of Lent. A lot of
Christians give up something tangible for lent, such as liquor
or their favorite food, and according to a recent survey,
Americans say about a th the third of their stuff
is stuff they don't use or need often, twenty seven
percent are embarrassed how much junk they own, and fifty
six percent plan to declutter this spring. Forecast four today.
(15:13):
We do have a chance of some damaging storms later
today between noon and four. Highs around sixty one. Right now,
it's fifty five in Capital Heights.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
They used to say that cash is king. Now that
you've got the news with Toby and Chili's top stories.
Think about that phrase cash is king? Is it true?
Not for somebody in Chili's world. Nope, and you'll find
out who and why coming up in minutes. Stay right there,
Toby and Chili in the morning. The number is eight
(15:42):
six six ninety two, seven forty three sixty one. And
talkbacks also open too, if you want to leave us
a message, because sometimes that's easier. They say, cash is king,
but not if you're a friend of Chili's.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Ah, it's kind of surprising. So I'm having lunch with
a girlfriend of mine and the check comes and instead
of paying with a credit card, because well I didn't
want to, I said, I'm gonna give you my half
in cash. I was like great, and I even rounded
it up.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Toby.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
I gave her like a twenty, right was fifteen something
and I gave her a twenty. She goes, no, no, no,
just venmo me the money. It's like, venmo, well, just
take the money, and she says to me, I don't
do cash anymore.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Like there is She would rather not take.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
The money, like the physical cash. She's like, if that's
the way them to forget, it's my treat I got.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
That's so silly. When did when did this become a thing?
Speaker 2 (16:31):
I don't know, but you know, I've noticed that there
are two different types of people. There are people like
that who just don't carry a wallet anymore, not knocking it.
That's cool, you trust it, you trust it. Some people
with the cards, it's all that. I lumball of that together.
Then there are people who flat out will tell me
that cash is king. Hey, if you have cash, I
would prefer that.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
I mean, no one has gotten out of the gone
out of their way to tell me they won't take
money in any way, shape or form. And that's a
part of this that was surprising, and so of course
I do what anybody does. I obsessed about it for
a minute or two, and then I started asking around, like, hey,
do you carry any emergency cash in your wallet?
Speaker 5 (17:11):
Right?
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Ten dollars, fifteen, whatever it might be.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
And it's surprising how many people said they don't.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
So maybe I'm the problem.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
You're not the problem the time, the person who's going
to be prepared because to me, cash is still cash.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yes, I mean hires from the same generation, Well, yes,
I wonder if that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I mean, she's only like ten years younger.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
I mean, really, I'm really open minded to and have
used regularly Venmo, PayPal and SIR payment system here.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
The only time I'll venmo somebody something is if I'm
not physically in their presence or I don't truly have
money on me. Other than that, it's weird for me
to venmo you money when I can just go in
my wallet and hand you a bill.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, because cash's king. There's just something about cash, and
then you have to go and restock that cash, don't you,
So you have to think about it? No, what do
you think about all of this this old cash thing?
Cash is it King?
Speaker 6 (18:08):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (18:09):
No thoughts? Jump in the numbers eight sixty six, ninety
seven forty three sixty one. You can also use the
talk bag microphone tap speaks send to tell us everything
right or wrong. There is no right or wrong, it's
just cash is it King? Yes or no? Tell us everything.
We can't wait to hear from you coming up. And
speaking of coming up, in just minutes.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
We're going to talk about this lady in Florida who
tried to get I guess revenge on an X and
the petty thing she did well until she got the
wrong person.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
M stay there for more. It happens. We're not gonna judge,
but we just want to hear good stories. Toby and
Chilly in the morning at Letty's seven point one wash FM.
The numbers eight sixty six, nine two, seven forty three
sixty one. Have you ever been petty around in X Yes?
I know this is probably very personal, but nonetheless it happens. Yeah,
(19:03):
and so let's talk about it this morning. And here's why.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Well, here's a cautionary tale out of Florida. This woman
vandalized the wrong car in revenge attempts against her ex boyfriend.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Was the person's name Carrie Underwood.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
No, and we're not sure that the reason she wanted
revenge was because he cheated. But yeah, she threw eggs
at it. She spray painted this car, oops, wrong car.
But I kind of say, even if it was the
right car, I don't think that's ever Okay.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah, it's one thing to be petty, it's another thing
to do something illegal.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Yeah, that's that's not have you I mean, I've never
damaged anybody.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Eventually, like, well, what did you do? Like, have you
ever had an instance where not not illegal? Not like
damaging the car. But have you ever been petty with
an X?
Speaker 3 (19:52):
I showed up to a black tie event thinking he
would be there looking fabulous with another guy, and I
want to make him, you know, wish he hadn't left,
But he wasn't even.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
There, so it didn't even matter because he didn't show
up at the event.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
So no, I tried. I tried.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Swing gonna miss strike one. Robert Vienna, how were you, petty?
Speaker 5 (20:15):
I saw my exit this party and I just ignored
her for the entire night.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
The entire night.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Very mature of you.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Yeah, it was childish, but I thought that by ignoring her,
it was seemed like I didn't even care that she.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Was there and it would just somehow make her want
to take me back.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Well, I don't think it worked.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Chili's over here shaking her head.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
I feel like that only works in movies.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
And that's the only place that does work. Yeah, got
a good story to share? How were you? Petty? Around
in X eight six six ninet two seven forty three
sixty one is the number You can also use the
talkback microphone. It's been open all morning. Taps we can
send if you're signed in to your iron up. Tell
us how you were petty around an X. We won't
