Speaker 1 (00:00):
Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I would say, feeling good this morning before five, But
for whatever reason this morning, my fine, my phone was
acting up and I did not get up on time
for whatever reason, and that's not okay.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Well, you know what, here's the positive spin on that
I got one for you.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
You still were able to get up like you still
and my.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Car at one hundred and sixty thousand miles made it,
Which is that I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I looked at it, and I was like silver linings, right,
Like silver linings. If you were still able to wake
up without an alarm, that's something, right, Like, well, yeah,
it is something, especially when we work abnormal hours. At
least you were right.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
No, I was just I you know what. I wish
I had a good excuse, but I don't. So why
not own it when you make a mistake. That's the
That's what I'm doing this morning. Anyway. What about you?
What feels good this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Look?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I hate I hate having to bring up the forecast
every single time, but can we just give yesterday the
moment that it deserves.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Come on, that was glorious.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
The last few days have been pretty amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
So the feel good part of that is we have
a deck and we ate outside on the deck, and
there's just something about eating outside that just completely elevates
the dining experience.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yes, when you have when.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
You have like a patio or something like that, it
was really really nice to break bread in nature.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
So that's why I'm feeling good.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, there you go, man. Hopefully we have another day
like that today, not.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
So much, but it'll be it's not going to be
cold at least.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, I guess we'll find out in a few minutes.
So let me ask you this, what is the news
like today?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Well, all right, let's focus on this. The House is
passing a six month funding bill to prevent a government shutdown.
There's still one more thing that has to happen, though,
and we'll get to that in Top Stories in just
a few Top Stories, Top of the Hour, Top Stories
presented by Celsius Energy Drinks. Well, the House is passing

(02:01):
a six month funding bill to prevent a government shutdown.
That proposal now heads to the Senate, where its fate
remains uncertain. The government shut down deadline, by the way,
is Friday night. The usas Ukraine is ready to accept
a proposal to enact an immediate interim thirty day cease
fire in its war with Russia. The president says the

(02:22):
next step is to get Russia to accept it as well.
The Department of Education staff they received an email yesterday
notifying that they had to evacuate the department's headquarters by
six pm, and then just a few hours later, a
senior department official announced over thirteen hundred staffers received notication
notifications that they had been fired. Nearly fifty cameras are

(02:43):
being installed on public school buses in Fairfax County. It's
to catch drivers who try to pass during the pickup
or drop off of students. Fines are being issued that
will be two hundred and fifty dollars and that all
starts May twelfth. Air China will now offer direct flights
from Dallas Airport to Beijing. The carrier says the twice

(03:05):
weekly direct flights will probably continue into the fall. Free
at home COVID tests are going away. The US government
program that offers them is no longer accepting offers, according
to its website and TikTok rolling out some new features.
It says is aimed at keeping younger users safe. It
allows parents to limit the amount of time their children
spend on the app. Forecast for today partly cloudy skies,

(03:28):
highs around sixty five right now, fifty one in Potomac.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
In just minutes. Your morning mindset for this Wednesday? It
is Wednesday, right it is. I will tell you I've
been having issues figuring out what day it is all
week for whatever reason. I think it's probably because we
work a day in advance sometimes. Anyway, Toby and Chilly
in the morning, it's ninety seven point one wash FM,
stay there for even more time. Now for us to

(03:53):
pause and talk about you and your headspace. This morning
we call it.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Are more mindset.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
We want to get you into a better headspace, as
Toby said, as you start a new day.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
So who's the quote by.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Serena Williams this morning who says that a champion is
defined not by their wins, but how they can recover
when they fall. A champion is defined not by their winds,
but how they can recover when they fall. You know,
we do take falls in life. It just happens. Sometimes
Sometimes it happens because that's just what life has in

(04:28):
store for you. But how will you get up? How
will you recover? When you take that fall. That's what
makes you a champion. Serena Williams this Morning says a
champion is defined not by their winds, but how they
can recover when they fall. So keep that in mind
this morning, and if it helped you, maybe it'll help

(04:48):
somebody else. And you can find it on the Toby
and chilipage at washfm dot com. In just minutes, have
you heard of micro sleeping? Micro sleeping is when you
fall asleep because you are so exhausted that you just
can't do anything else but just pass out. And it's
not healthy. We'll talk about it coming up in minutes.

(05:09):
As Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues, stay right there,
are you still dragging from this daylight saving time spring
forward time change we had over the weekend? Toby and
Chilly in the Morning, it's ninety seven point one. Watch FM.
They've got a word we should be aware of, Chili.
It's called micro sleeps.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, people feeling groggy also kind of you know, checking
out for a minute or two because you're so tired.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
That's all normal, but it's not safe.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It's not safe to micro sleep in your car, especially
if your car is on two seventy stop or three
fifty five. Well, I've nodded off before, like it's stop lights.
Oh no, is that a micro sleep?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
That is?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
And that's very dangerous.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
I hope I've also pulled a micro sleep in a
production room here, like one of these these closets we
have for recording things.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
That's at least you're not behind the wheel. I'll hear
it work. But yeah, but the adjustment, and it's not
just you or me, it's the adjustment takes up to
two weeks. That's get used to the time change after
the switch forward.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
And it's already tough enough for you and I because
you know, we have this like backwards schedule where we
essentially working overnight, you know. Yeah, then you throw something
like daylight Saving Time on top of it, and we're
a hot.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Mess and we wonder like, are we the only ones
around here that take a nap or need a nap?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Do people with normal jobs need one too?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
After Daylight Saving Time? Or just in general? Anny, what
do you think? Eight six six nine, seven forty three
sixty one is the number? Talkback is wide open two
if you're listening on your iHeart app, Matthew, what do.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
You have to say, I have to napp take two
naps a day and I don't care if it's unhealthy
or not.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Wow, not one but two naps a day.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I'm glad you're awake this early not napping. An ox
In Hill. Thanks for the call eight six six nine
two seven forty three sixty one, Marianne.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
I would never give up napping because I swear by
my naps and I need to take them. Amen's sister.
I hope you have time every day to do so.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
And thank you for the call from Potomac today. Toby
and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one,
was chef m What does your doctor say there? Chilly?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
He says that I'm not allowed to take a nap
if I can't get at least six consistent hours of
sleep a night.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
That sounds very familiar. I wonder why that is.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Hmmmm.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
What do you think about micro's sleeping? Give us a
call at eight sixty six ninet two seven forty three
sixty one or tap to talk back microphone if you
want to leave us a voice No, we love listening
to them. And stay there for the news top stories
at the top of the hour on.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
The top stories, Top of the Hour. The House narrowly
passed a six month funding bill to prevent a government
shut down.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
That proposal will now head to the Senate, where its
fate remains uncertain.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Ukraine is agreeing to a thirty day ceasefire with Russia
if Moscow accepts. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinsky said the country
sees the deal. It's a positive step, but that now
it's up to the US to convince the Russians. The
Department of Education is being gutted. Over thirteen hundred staffers
received notifications that they're being fired last night. The President

(08:21):
has repeatedly said that he would like the States to
control education. The NTSB says there were over fifteen thousand
close proximity events between helicopters and passenger jets between twenty
twenty one and twenty twenty four near Reagan National Airport,
and it's recommending that the FAA prohibit certain helicopter operations

(08:42):
over the Potomac as the investigation into January's deadly mid
air collision continues. The Montgomery County Teachers' Union recently voted
in favor of a resolution calling on the school system
to work out a transition to device free classrooms. They
would like to see a full ban of cell phones
in elementary and middle schools, and cell phone use restricted

(09:06):
to just lunch and between classes in high schools. And
DC's cherry blossoms they've entered the first of six stages
of their blooming cycle. National Park Service announced yesterday that
cherry trees around the title basin are showing some green buds.
Peak bloom is still expected between March twenty eighth and
thirty first forecasts for today not quite as nice as yesterday,

(09:30):
partly cloudy skies, sixty five the high right now it
is fifty one in Shantilly.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Coming up in just a few minutes.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
We're going to talk about things that we should all
stop cleaning, and a couple of these may shock you.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
We'll get to that as.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues on ninety seven
point one wash FM. Good morning, It's Wednesday, March twelfth.
It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven
point one Wash FM. I'm at chili Omar and producer
Taylor Shay is stepping in for two who had to
run out to an appointment. But I wanted to share
with you this list of things. Apparently we're supposed to

(10:07):
stop cleaning. Okay, when I hear stop cleaning, you've got
my attention. And I don't know if any of these
will surprise you.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
You grill great? Never cleaned it? You've never cleaned the grill?

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Well maybe my husband has, but I don't think so.
So what we do is we scrub it after we
use it every time. But according to this article, what
we should be doing is leaving the grill on high
with the cover on it for fifteen minutes, so then
the residue just cooks away.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
See that's not good enough for me.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I need to see all the little bits and pieces
scraped off.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
So what else do I not have to clean anymore?

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Chili? Your pillow? Do you kill it? Do you clean
your pillows? Yeah? I wash them?

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Apparently instead of washing pillows, it's never quite the same, right,
So we should throw it out and buy a new
one every six months six months. The pillows I buy
are not cheap oat they're like kind of like the
more you know.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Luxurious kinds.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Because my neck is a thing and I can't be
buying a new one of those every six months.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
But yeah, apparently we're not supposed to.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
And then the other thing we're not supposed to do
wax the car because newer cars have tougher finishes that
don't need wax for protection. I'm about to confess something.
I've never waxed me either. Yeah, I'm not a wax
the car type of gal, unless you count the drive
through like the car wash thing where you can choose

(11:30):
the wax protectant spray thing.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
But that's really not they're talking about.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Mister Miyagi wax style waxing on and waxing off the
turtle wax. Yes, no, apparently we don't need to do this,
so you can thank us for all the things you
need to stop cleaning. And if you want to see
the full list, because oh yes, there is more, you
can find it on the Toby and Chili page at
washfm dot com. Toby and Chili's nearly Impossible question the

(11:55):
question today. This famous figure's mouth is three feet wide.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
So who is it?

Speaker 1 (12:02):
You are playing for tickets to pick your show at
wolf Trap. If you get it right, eight six six
nine two seven four to three six one is the number.
This famous figure's mouth is three feet wide? Who is
it eight six six nine two seven four to three
six one is the number. The answer to the nearly

(12:24):
impossible question is on the way. As Toby and Chilly
in the Morning continues on ninety seven point one, wash
that Helby and Chilli's nearly impossible question up for grabs today.
You get to pick your show at wolf Trap if
you get the question right. This famous figure's mouth is
three feet wide?

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Who is it?

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Eight six six nine two seven four to three six
one is the number.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Let's go to Fairfax. Good morning, Mary, how are you?

Speaker 5 (12:53):
I'm good, Chili, how are you?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I'm doing well. Well. What you've got the question? What
do you think the answer might be?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
It's to be the statue of Liberty.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
And why do you think that is?

Speaker 5 (13:03):
Because it couldn't be a person, and it couldn't be
an animal, so it has to go to a statue.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
And that was the first statue I thought of.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Well, your line of thinking is excellent, because yes, the
statue of liberties, the Statue of Liberty's mouth is three
feet wide. Congratulations, thank you very much. I appreciate You're
very welcome. So now you get to pick your show
at wolf Trap. They've got an incredible lineup, and we're
gonna have you hang on for producer Taylor Shay and

(13:33):
make sure you're back tomorrow morning right around this time
for another round of our nearly Impossible.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Question but coming up in just a few minutes.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
We're gonna get you up to speed on all the
news headlines with Toby and Chilly's top stories at ninety
seven point one wash FN.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
The House is passing a six month funding bill to
prevent a government shut down. The deadline to do so
is Friday night, so now the proposal heads to the Senate.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
It's fate remains uncertain.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
The USA's Ukraine is ready to accept a proposal to
enact an immediate interim thirty day ceasefire in its war
with Russia, so the next step now is to get
Russia to accept it as well. The Department of Education
staff they received an email yesterday that notified them they
had to vacate the department's headquarters by six pm, and
then just a few hours later, a senior department official

announced that over thirteen hundred staffers received notifications they'd been fired.
Nearly fifty cameras are being installed on public school buses
in Fairfax County. It's to catch drivers who try to
pass during the pickup or drop off of students. Fines
being issued will be two hundred and fifty dollars and
that all starts on May twelfth. Illegal dumping has cropped

(14:48):
up in recent months on some vacant land in Haymarkets
near a nice neighborhood. The owner of that property recently
sealed off the entryways, but police are also putting up
a camera in hopes of nabbing the culprits. And according
to a recent survey, the majority of Americans feel that
tipping culture has gone way too far. Eighty three percent

(15:10):
think that automatic service charges should be banned. Nearly three
and five admit they tip less when they're presented with
a tip suggestion. Scream forecast for today, it's going to
be nice, partly cloudy, with highs in the mid sixties.
Right now, it is fifty two degrees in Riverdale. Coming
up in just a few minutes, we are going to

(15:31):
talk with producer Taylor Shay, who is in for Toby
Napp and she recently totaled her car and she got
very emotional about it, but her tears didn't have anything
to do with the damage, She'll explain as Toby and
Chilly in the Morning continues on ninety seven point one
Wash FM. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning on
ninety seven point one Wash FM. I'm Chilli amhar and

(15:53):
producer Taylor Shay is here for Toby Nap. And you
know you recently had your car to toad because it
was totaled. I mean, I'm glad you're okay and everybody's safe.
But you said you got really emotional about it.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Yeah, so it was not an accident, and I had
some water damage from my sun roof and it's eleven
year old car, so I mean a small anything totals
the car. But when the tow truck was driving it away,
I got a little emotional.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Like cried about it a little bit. What is it
about that car that made you get for clumped?

Speaker 5 (16:27):
I was just so proud of myself when I got
that car because I didn't need my dad to co sign.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
My credit score was fine.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
It just represented, you know, the freedom of being a
grown up for the first time.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
It symbolized your independence. Yes, welcome to adulthood.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Now I get that, and I know it seems silly
that you would get emotional over such an inanimate object,
But a lot of these objects in our lives do
represent so much more. I mean, I remember crying when
we traded in my last car because that car was
part of my life. When I fell in love with
my husband, when I found out I was pregnant, when

(17:05):
you know, we brought home the baby. So I totally
get it, and I don't think you're alone in that.
As a matter of fact, maybe somebody can actually share
their stories.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I mean, have you ever.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Gotten emotional over the loss of an inanimate object?

Speaker 3 (17:19):
What was it? Why did it make you cry?

Speaker 1 (17:23):
You can share that with us by calling eight sixty
six nine two seven four three six one, or you
can leave us a message. There is a talkback feature
right on your iHeartRadio app. There's a microphone there, so
if you click it and record, we'll get it in
here right now and we'll get to those stories later
on in the show. But coming up next, how have
you saved someone's life? A nine year old boy was

(17:46):
able to help someone who was choking. We'll share that
incredible story with you as Toby and Chilly in the
Morning continues on ninety seven point one wash FM, Have
you ever saved someone's life? It's Toby and Chill in
the Morning on ninety seven point one wasch FM. I'm Chiliamar,
Toby Napp is out and we're asking this question because
earlier on the show we shared this incredible story of

(18:08):
a nine year old boy in North Carolina who did
the Heimlich maneuver and saved his little friend's life on
the playground. So we got us wondering, right, have you
ever been in a position to really help someone or
save someone? I haven't, but it turns out a lot
of folks who listen to this show have good morning.
Carol in Woodbridge, tell us what happened?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
There was this one time when a friend was going
through a really tough patch emotionally. I just listened, stayed
with him and helped them get the support they needed.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
You are such a good friend, Carol, and I love
the example because sometimes, like saving someone's life isn't necessarily
a physical save. Sometimes it's saving them from their spiraling
thoughts and anxiety. So I love that you share that
with us. Okay, Phil in Rockville, tell us what happened?
Whose life did you save?

Speaker 4 (18:57):
I was walking to school once and I saw someone
stepped out to the street. They weren't looking where they
were going, and the car was coming up fast. I yelled, hey,
look out. They turned and saw the car, then jumped
back onto the curb. I'm not sure if the car
would have hit them, but it definitely would have come close.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Come on, now, Phil, don't sell yourself short. You're a hero.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
What more.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Toby and Jilly head over to washfm dot com or
the iHeartRadio app.
