Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one Wash.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Them, Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point
one Wash FM. Good Friday morning, it's kiddo'she in for Toby.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It is good to see you. I hope the equipment
is working.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, it seems to be working now. I don't know
if anybody else has experienced this, but we are having
some technology problems here this morning. Maybe you experienced it
as well, and maybe it has something to do with
the full moon and total lunar eclipse that happened earlier
this morning.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
And the reason I was extra frustrated, and truth be told,
our WiFi was out all day yesterday, okay, which I
do a lot of my post show work from home,
producing commercials getting back to clients, and so the Wi
fi was messed up. We called the Verizon person. Thank
god they were able to come out and they think
they know what the issue is, so hopefully it'll get
(00:52):
fixed today. But went to they did not say full
moon lunar eclips is the But now I'm going to
tell him that when he comes to fix it him.
You know, do you think this has anything?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Well, it's gonna be like, what are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:04):
And I'm sure this happens to other people. The technology
problem that we were having here this morning, it's something
that we do all the time, completely normal, and then
we did it the same way we've always done it
and it wasn't working.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
That's the part that really gets us every single time.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
So you know what we did, Chili, we did a reboot.
We did so maybe everybody just needs to do a
reboot this morning to get into this Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
And that's the best part. It is a friday.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
We made it to the end of the week, and
we need to focus on that fact.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
And we are going to update you on all of
today's top stories coming up next.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
The Trump administration is being ordered by a federal judge
to immediately reinstate some fired federal employees. We found that
the firing of the probationary employees from six federal agencies
last month to be unlawful. Russia's president is agreeing in
principle with a cease fire plan. US officials traveled to
Moscow yesterday to discuss a possible ceasefire with Russian officials.
(02:06):
A Rockville man is being charged with making threats of
mass violence. Police say the thirty seven year old Navy
veteran emailed local clergy members last month threatening to kill
President Trump, shoot up his hoa, and also a local
realty company. Fairfax County leaders are thinking about adding a
food and beverage tax to help chip away at a
(02:27):
budget deficit. Now that tax would apply to drinks and
food that you consume at restaurants and bars, but not groceries.
And according to a recent survey, most American teenagers want
a fulfilling career more than anything else. Having close friendships
was the next most important thing, and having a lot
of money came in a close third. Forecast for today
(02:49):
sunny fifty seven the high right now, though it's thirty
nine in Manassas coming up in just a few minutes.
We're going to try to get you into a better
headspace with our morning mindset. Quotequote as Toby and Chili
in the Morning continues on ninety seven point one wash.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
FF Friday Morning, Toby and Chilly ninety seven point one
wash FM. I'm kiddoshe it is time now for the
morning mindset and.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
The quote today is by Will Rogers. He says, don't
let yesterday take up too much of today. In other words,
don't allow the mistakes, the regrets or experiences of yesterday
really consume your thoughts and your energy today. Focus on
what's present what you can do about it now, rather
than being held back by the past, not just yesterday,
(03:32):
but before yesterday. Okay, so don't let yesterday take up
too much of today. You can share that quote or
your own if you've come across one to put us
onto a better morning mindset on the Toby and Chili
page at washfm dot com.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Always easier said than done, but always a good reminder,
and that is what the morning mindset is all about.
All right? Coming up next, if you want to have
to do the zoo to see our pandas, we have
a hack for you that could avoid getting stuck in
a line which happened to us. I'll share that with you.
Coming up in just a few minutes. Toby and Chilly
in the Morning ninety seven point one wash FM. It's
(04:09):
kid o'she from Good Morning Washington in for Toby.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Now, you had my attention at Panda visiting hack. Yes,
so what happened? Well, if you haven't been to the
zoo yet, to see the new pandas. Don't do what
we did, which was caught in a long line, and
then we gave up because the line was so long.
We're like, we'll just come back another day when it's
not such a long line.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Explain to me, do you meet into the panda house.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Well, no, before you even get there, there is a
ramp that you go down, and the line starts on
the ramp. Okay, And so we saw this long line.
We're like, oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
We live around here.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I can come back another anytime. Our zoo is free.
It's great, it's easy to get to. So we left.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Well.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
I told a friend that because she said she's going
to the zoo. I said, well, just so you know,
you're gonna wait in a long line. See the panta
said oh no, no, no, no, you go around that line.
People are standing in that line on the ramp because
that's one of the first overlooks that you can see.
But there's like eight other overlooks if you go around it.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Wait, so it's not line, skippy, sure you're not cutting
Well these are so okay.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
If you've never been to the National Zoo, as kids said,
there are several places that you can see their habitat.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yes, but if they're physically in that area, you.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Are cutting well, but they're not moving on. There's not
people past them. It opens up once you get around them.
But we didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
So you're saying if you had just moved past them,
regardless of your vantage point, you could have still seen.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
We would have missed that first point that they wanted
to look at the hat. So people are waiting in
line to see that first point. Well, I had no idea.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
That's good to know. You got to make sure you
know the flow of the zoo.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Know the flow, or you could do what I decided
to do. Just go home and watch on the PANDICAM.
Coming up next a Chilly's Top Stories. We'll get you
up to date on all of today's news headlines. That's
minutes away here on wash FF.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Top Stories. Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says he will vote to
advance the GOP's six month funding bill that passed the
House in order to stop a government shut down tonight.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
He said the bill is.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
A terrible option, but he believes allowing the president to
take more power through a shutdown is a far worse option.
A federal judge in Maryland is ordering thousands of fired
government employees to be reinstated. That ruling said the government
gave no advance notice to workers and fired them illegally
without cause. American and Our Airline says that one of
(06:43):
its planes caught fire at Denver International Airport after landing
safely yesterday. Thankfully, all one hundred and seventy two passengers
and six crew members were able to evacuate safely. DC
officials say a continuing resolution that would fund the federal
government through September would cut more than a billion dollars
from the city budget and funding to agencies like the
(07:06):
Metro system. A union that represents Metro employees says the
agency would then be forced to make substantial job cuts
if the resolution passes. Sharon Fox was named Northern Virginia's
Regional Teacher of the Year. This happened during his ceremony
this week. She teaches English language learning to third graders
(07:26):
at Polk Elementary School. So now Fox is in the
running to become the state's teacher of the Year, and
Tiger Woods has reportedly been quietly dating Donald Trump Junior's
ex wife, Vanessa Trump. Vanessa and Donald Junior were married
for twelve years before their twenty eighteen divorce. Forecast for
today sunny with hyges near sixty right now, though it
(07:50):
is forty degrees in Gaithersburg. Coming up next, kiinn O'Shea,
who's filling in for Toby, says that he's having a
tough time understanding a very popular self help movement. He'll
explain as Toby and Chile in the Morning continues on
ninety seven point one, wash F.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Doty and Chile in the Morning, ninety seven point one,
wash f Them. It's kid o'she there is a new
self help movement called the Let Them Theory. You may
have heard of this. Oh yeah, Chile, I'm all about it,
but I'm having some problems with it.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Well, first of all, it's a book that was written
by mel Robbins, and she in the book encourages you
basically to release control over others, right, let them be
who they are without taking their actions personally.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Yeah. So I saw her do that on Instagram because
I follow her on Instagram. Uh huh, And I started
applying to Let Them Theory. I'm like, oh, and it
does work. You feel this like, oh, it's on them. Yeah,
but but what then? I'm like, how do they get
held accountable for their bad actions?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
So you clearly have not read the book, because no,
I did not read the book. There is also a
let me component. Okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
So in the book it tells you that the let
them is, like you said, let them be who they are,
but the let me shifts the focus back onto you
and your personal responsibilities, boundaries, and all the things you
need to do to make yourself have peace.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
So, now you've read the book and you've been using
this theory, do you have an example of how it's
actually worked in your personal life.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
I have a friend who's always late. Drives me crazy.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Every time we're supposed to meet at a certain time,
shows up twenty thirty minutes late. Drives me crazy because
I'm hungry, I want to start eating. I've got someplace
to go. My time is limited. You're being disrespectful, Yeah,
let him, let him be late. Okay, what am I
going to do about it? I'm going to start without him.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
That's the let me, that's the let me.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Let me set this boundary by saying, if you're not
going to show up at six thirty. I'm going to
go ahead and get the drink, get the food.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
And even start eating.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Yes, And so he would show up, he'd be like, wait,
you start without me. I'm like, well, you were supposed
to be here thirty minutes ago, so yeah, I've got
to be somewhere. And after doing this a couple of times,
he did start showing up on time because it was
clear the boundary and the consequence of his actions. So
it ended up working out in this case. And if
it hadn't, by the way, that's on him.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Night. You put it on him.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
I put it on him.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
And so it's again, it's harder to do with every
single situation, but the more you practice.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
This, the easier it gets.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Well, now that I know the second step to it,
I'm hoping it gets a little easier.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Shelby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
All right, Chili, what is today's question?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Nearly thirty five hundred people are injured by these every year,
So what are they?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
And here's a hint. It's something in your home.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Okay, good, we get a little hint today for a
Friday nearly impossible question. We're playing for tickets to wolf Trap.
You get to pick your show if you know the
answer eight six six nine two seven four three six one.
That's eight six six nine two seven four three sixty one.

Those metal things, the metal things in the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Next to the toilet. I've actually I've.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Actually stabbed my leg with those by accidents, so I
can see why that would be a guest. That is
an excellent answer, Crystal. It is also the correct one. Congratulations, awesome,

You do the same, And coming up in just a

on all the news headlines with Toby and Chile's top

Top of the Hour. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says
he will vote to advance the GOP six month funding
Villa in order to stop a government shutdown tonight, saying
the bill is a terrible option, but that allowing the

states in a lawsuit trying to stop job cuts at
the US Department of Education. That lawsuit claims that layoffs
of more than a thousand workers will strip the agency
of its ability to oversee and fund critical programs. Federal
prosecutors have charged New Orleans woman for allegedly attacking a

fifty two year old Kelly Williams allegedly punched and stabbed
a tourist from New Zealand outside the National Museum of
African Art. Montgomery County Police are asking for help identifying

right now, though forty degrees in Woodbridge coming up in
just a few minutes. You know, we love sharing stories
that restore your faith in humanity, So we're going to
tell you about a doctor in Baltimore who is now
getting help from the patients he helped over the years.
Our feel good story is just minutes away. As Toby
(15:40):
and Chilly in the Morning continues on ninety seven point
one wash FN.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
We made it to Friday. Here we go headed into
the weekend. It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning. I'm kiddo,
O'Shea and a feel good Friday story for you. It
kind of gets you in a good mood as we
head into the weekend.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Okay, so this is out of Baltimore, doctor Michael Zolakhoffer.
He's better known as Doctor to his patients, and he's
not rich in money, but he is very rich in
something more meaningful, and that's his dedication to his community.
He's sixty six years old and he spent decades caring
for patients regardless of their ability to pay, which is
something very rare because for him, medicine was more than
(16:17):
just a profession.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
It was a passion and he really.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Really enjoys helping people, no matter how small their concerns
may seem. You know, doctor Z's patients know that if
they walk into his office, they're going to be seen
and he'll take care of them. And his commitment goes
way beyond that. He has helped his patients twenty four
to seven, never taken a real vacation. Wow, And all
(16:39):
of this dedication is paying off for him. He recently
found himself in need of help because a few months ago,
Doctor Z was diagnosed with not one, but two types
of cancer, and because of all the paperwork issue with
his Medicare plan, he had no health insurance and no
way to pay for his radiation treatments. Oh no, his
patients found out about it, and because he's done so
(17:01):
much to support them, they decided to support him, and
they launched a crowdfunding campaign and raised over one hundred
thousand dollars unbelievable because they were like, you know what,
doctor Z, You've taken care of us. Now it's our
turn to take care of you. And now with his
insurance reinstated, doctor Z is getting the treatment he needs
(17:24):
and his prognosis looks good.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
That's great and such a reminder that there is and
are more good people and good things going on in
the world than bad and we need those reminders like this,
And it's a.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Great story that restores our faith in humanity. It makes
us feel good on this Friday. If you want to
read more, you can on the Toby and Chili page
at washfm dot com.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I love that. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Chili coming up next. Have you ever done something for
yourself that turned out to be super liberating You maybe
had no idea this was going to happen. I made
a big life change recently and had no idea how
liberating it was. I'll share that you in just a
few minutes. Here with Toby and Chilly in the Morning
on ninety seven point one wash FM. Toby and Chilly
(18:05):
in the Morning. Right here on ninety seven point one
wash FM, I'm kidd o'she in for Toby. We are
talking about things that we have done that have helped
us feel more liberated and free. And the reason we're
talking about this is because I gave up alcohol in
November and I had no idea how liberating it would be.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Okay, I've got questions. Yes, why did you give up
alcohol in November?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Well, and just to be clear, you know that I
love a Teito soda, Yeah, ginger beer and a lime
and I drink a lot of Tito sodas. I just
did it on a whim. A friend quit and he
did it for ten months, and I'm like, well, if
he can do it, I can do it. And I
did not set a limit. There still is no limit.
I can have a drink whenever I want, and I.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Just you haven't. I haven't since November.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Since November, okay, So I know why you started, just
to test yourself. Yeah, how do you feel? What is
the liberation part of this? I guess I'm not understanding.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I guess I don't think I realized how much drinking
can actually bring anxiety on? Did I drink too much
last night? Did I say something I shouldn't say? Am
I going to be hungover tomorrow? Am I gonna? You know?
Speaker 3 (19:08):
How am I going to get home?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
How am I going to get home?
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
There's so many things you can't do after you've been drinking,
having a good conversation with your partner, you know, like
remembering and remembering things like that.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
That is cool. I can see how that could be.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
And I was never a big heavy drinker that was
like I didn't remember things and things like that. But
it's like, yeah, it actually is less stressful not drinking.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
That's very cool.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Do you have anything, Oh, it's not alcohol. It's when
I got to a point in my life where how
do I put this delicately? I gave zero You know,
what's about what people think?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Ah?
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Yes, So I used to care so much or too
much about everyone's opinion, and now it's just those that
are very close to me that I love dearly. Their
opinions are the only ones that truly matter. And as
soon as I made that shift, mad as that a
freeing way to.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Live again, liberating you're not living with that stress. Yeah,
we would love to hear your stories of things that
maybe surprised you. What did you do that was super liberating?
It may inspire somebody else, So join our conversation. Eight
six six, nine two seven four three six one eight
six six nine two seven four three sixty one. We
(20:21):
will get to some of your calls coming up a
little later in the show, but first we're going to
get to news headlines and top stories with Toby and Chilly.
That's all coming.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Up, Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (20:32):

offered to Saint Patrick's day partiers across the DC area.
They're available from Lyft starting at four o'clock this afternoon
until four am on March eighteenth. So do you want
kinder and more considerate kids will then just add fish
to their diet. According to a recent study, children who
(21:45):
eat seafood regularly are more likely to be helpful, sharing
and considerate because of essential goodies like Omega three, fatty acids,
iodine and selenium for gas. For today, Sunny Sky's High's
getting up to round sixty right now. Forty in Beltsville
coming up next. You know, earlier this morning, we were
talking about making life decisions that made you feel liberated.
(22:09):
So what was it for you? Eight six six nine
two seven four three six one is a phone number
we'd love for you to call us if you want
to join that conversation, which we will get back to
in just a few minutes. As Toby and Chilly in
the Morning continues on ninety seven point one, washe f
F Good morning.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
It's Toby and Tilly in the Morning. On ninety seven
point one Wash FM. I'm Kenoshe from Good Morning Washington.
We're talking about things that have made us feel liberated.
After I quit drinking alcohol back in November, I had
no idea how liberating it would be. You feel free.
I feel freer than I ever thought I would, and
so we wanted to know what did you do to
(22:46):
feel liberated? Eight six six ninety two seven four three six.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
One Alex in Sterling, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
I got a tattoo.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I felt more like myself when I got it.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
It's a it's a skull on my wrist.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
I look at it whenever I want to feel go out.
I didn't focus.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I don't know, it just helps.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Well, Alex, thank you for sharing that I've never gotten
a tattoo, but now knowing that maybe it's going to
be a liberating thing, and maybe y'all consider that louck
it too.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Thanks Alex for the call.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Jan in Bethesda, what was something you did that is
super freeing?
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Saying no more often?
Speaker 4 (23:21):
I used to say yes to everything out of fear
of disappointing people.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
But when I started setting boundaries and being more honest
with myself, it felt like a weight was lifted.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
That's kind of like yours chili that you're saying.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Earlier, I did earlier, I said, I started caring less
about what other people think, and that does go hand
in hand with.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Being comfortable with saying no.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
I love that, Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Jan. So as we head into the weekend, try to
find something that may make you feel liberated. No no,
oh oh, you're just saying no. Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
