Speaker 2 (00:26):
No no, no, Aaron go bra in the studio today.
I'm actually just happy and feeling good today because my
daughter made it back to Boston last night. There was
a time yesterday afternoon where her flight back out of
BWI was like delayed and then delayed till like ten
o'clock at night, and then all of a sudden it
got back to normal. Oh good, Yeah, but we didn't

(00:48):
realize it was back to normal till it was like
an hour before flight time.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
So she made it.

Speaker 2 (00:53):

We just had a nice weekend, went to an adventure
park with the family and yeah, that's that was a nice,
nice thing for me to go rope climbing again.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Reasons too few good rope climbing, William. Why you didn't
hurt yourself?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
No, it's a rope's course, you know, high above the ground.
You're yeah, you're yeah, I hate it, but I did it.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh, come on, now, I'm not a fan, but I
should stay happy.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
You're not in pain. Boy, I'd be in pain.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
I'd be feeling muscles I didn't realize I had still
this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:38):

Stay right there, time now for your morning mindsets. Ninety
seven point one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in the Morning.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
This is where we pause and get you to a
better headspace with a quote.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Not sure what you're facing today. But John Maxwell has
this to say to all of us this morning. People
don't care about how much you know until they know
how much you care. People don't care about how much
you know until they know how much you care. Think
about that and think about what you're going through in

(04:34):
life today. Maybe you've got career decisions to make, family decisions,
to make life decisions, school decisions. You know, it really
doesn't matter what you know and what you think you
know right until they know how much you care. Sometimes
that care word is the great commodity, which is intangible
and non negotiable.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
John C.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Maxwell, People don't care how much you know until they
know about how much you care. Keep that in mind
as you go through this Monday the seventeenth. Hopefully it
helped you, and if it did and you want to
share it with somebody who needs to see it too,
find it the Toby and Chilli page at washchefem dot com.
That is your morning mindset for this Monday now coming

(05:17):
up in just a few minutes. As Toby and Chilly
in the Morning continues, well, it.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Is Saint Patrick's Day and maybe you enjoyed it over
the weekend or back in the day.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
What it's like your fondest memory.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Everybody's got some sort of memory. We'll share some of ours,
you share some of yours, and we've got some more
fun facts to share along the way with you. On
this Saint Patty's Day. Top of the morning, it's ninety
seven point one, washefem? Stay right there, Toby and Chilly
in the morning on ninety seven point one, wash chefem,
go ahead, ma'am.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Thank you Katie and resting and good morning. The numbers
eight sixty six, ninety two, seven forty three sixty one.
We are Toby and Chilly in the morning, and it
is the day where we celebrate all things Irish. Everybody's
Irish on Saint Patrick's Day. And producer Taylor Shay has
joined us in the studio Chiliamar because she has a
very special Saint Patrick's Day story that can't top anybody else.

(06:08):
As she says, well, it's my wedding anniversary.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
We eloped on Saint Patrick's Day in the Pocono Mountains
on twenty fourteen.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
It's eleven years and you did it intentionally.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
On Saint Patrick's Day, get the luck of the irate.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Because it's fun and it's memorable.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Why not, Well, it seems to be working out. I mean,
how many years has it been?

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Eleven now?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
God, hard to believe it was eleven years ago.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Eleven years you're telling me, Wow, time flies. But that's
one really great Saint Patrick's Day story, Chili. Do you
have a Saint Patrick's Day memory or story or anything
that comes to mind.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
I usually had to work some sort of a bar
or something back in the day, so I didn't get
to enjoy as much as other people.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Perhaps, Oh, I had to work, and I found a
way to enjoy eight six, six, nine two, seven forty
three sixty one. But I will say this guinness does
not go well with bang mash, and we'll just leave
it at that. It was not a fun evening, but
you know what pulled it off. Anybody else have a
story they want to share with the class, feel free
to do so. MICHAELA good morning in Rockville. What's on

(07:12):
your mind this Saint Patty's Day morning?

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (07:14):
I don't have a Saint Patrick story of my own,
but back when I lived in New York, I was
a server at an Irish hub on Saint Patrick's day
and it was possibly the worst day of my life
because of all the other drunk people.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I know what you mean there, That's how it feels
when you're working a holiday like that.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yes, I know, and I apologize as being one of
those revelers who worked at the party like that, but
then managed to let Saint Patrick whisper in my shoulder
have some more bangers in mash with Toby and Chilly
in the morning. It's ninety seven point one watch FM
on the Saint Patrick's Day. If you have some fun
facts you want to share, or if you have some
stories memories you have of this holiday past, feel free

(07:53):
to share them with us. At eight six, six nine
two seven forty three sixty one. Talkback microphone is wide
open for you too. If you feel like you're signed
into your iheartapp and you want to use it, go
right ahead. We love listening to you and we know
you need the news, so we've got you covered with that.
Top Stories at the top of the Hour on the
way right around six Good Morning.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Top Stories Top of the Hour A pair of astronauts
stranded on the International Space stationer gearing up to finally
return to Earth. Sonny Williams and Butch Wilmore are about
to wrap up an unexpected nine months stay aboard the
ISS due to issues with their Boeing Starliner spacecraft. A
SpaceX capsule that will be their ride home docked at
the ISS over the weekend and we'll bring them home

(08:35):
later this week. PEPKO says it has found the reason
that two dogs died on a Northwest DC sidewalk earlier
this year. The utility released a statement saying that a
fault in a degraded cable was primarily responsible. The GSA
announced back in twenty twenty three that Greenbelt had won
the bidding for a new FBI building.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Well.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
President Trump is now saying that he's told that Justice
to Apartment staffers that he would move to stop that process,
promising to build a new headquarters at the current location.
DC's cherry blossoms have reached stage two now of the
six of their growth cycle. The florettes are visible on
the buds of the cherry trees, and the Park Service

(09:17):
still predicts that peak bloom will be between March twenty
eighth and thirty first and March Madness begins this week,
and with it comes the potential for the economy rather
to see roughly twenty billion dollars in lost productivity. That
lost productivity can come in a number of forms, from
simply being distracted while you're on the clock to the
forty percent of survey respondents who admit to calling in

(09:40):
sick just to.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Watch a game.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Forecast for today, the sun will come out later, it'll
be windy though. Hi's around fifty six right now, fifty two, Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
And that is the news. Coming Up with Toby and
Chilly in the Morning continues. It's my daughter Kyla's last
spring break in college. I can't believe it's been four
years already, but it has been. And boy, it passed
in the blink of an eye. But this spring break
looked a little bit different than you might have expected.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
I'll explain, and I'll.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Tell you what it is that we did and didn't
do Coming up with Tobe and Chilly in the Morning.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Stay right there.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Well, this was a very different spring break than I
had imagined. Toby and Chilly in the Morning, it's ninety
seven point one. Watch FM. I was off on Thursday
and Friday had been scheduled to take off because my
daughter Kyla, who's been working and going to school in
Boston was home, and we didn't know exactly what we
wanted to do. But I can tell you this, probably

(10:36):
not having an agenda was the best thing for her,
because she looked exhausted.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
This is her final spring break. She's going to be
graduating soon.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, And I could tell that the weight of everything
that's been going on in life has kind of just
kind of got her where she needed a moment to breathe.
So she literally just kind of laid around on the
couch and binge watched shows on Netflix and Hulu and
oh my god, and she didn't have to work.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Did you feel like she was isolating herself or did
you actually get to bond with her.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
We talked for a little bit, and we didn't get
to talk as deeply as I wanted to because I
had some other unexpected stuff going on right. I will
say this, I'm cautiously optimistic about what our plans for
after graduation are good. Well, because I know what she's
been going through. Work is not easy, and you throw
work plus school plus life, balance all of it into

(11:27):
the equation and it can be overwhelming. And I think
hopefully she got the chance to just press pause for
a moment before heading back to Boston last night.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
The good news is, even though you guys didn't take
a trip for this spring break, there's always summer.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I also think she's saving up her energy for her
twenty first birthday, which happens to happen at the end
of the month.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Oh see, that makes more sense now.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I can't believe that it's been twenty one years. I
even offered to go up to Boston to see her
for her twenty first birthday, and I kind of got
the no. I've got friends coming over exactly.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Shelby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
It's the Saint Patty's Day edition of the game. We've
got Fluffy Gabriel Iglesias at the Hall of Live Tickets
up for grabs if you can answer this question correctly.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
The first American celebration of Saint Patrick's Day was in
this US city?

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Which city is it?

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number? That's eight sixty six Wash FM the
number one. If you know the answer to this question,
you're going to go see Fluffy Gabriel Iglesias.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
The first American celebration of Saint Patrick's Day was in
this US city?

He's a great comedian. He's at the Hall at Live.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
If you want to go, you need to call us
now and answer that question correctly. It's your nearly impossible
question on this Saint Patty's Day, and this is ninety
seven point one wash FM.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
The answer is on the way.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Shelby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Go ahead and ask that question one more time, Chili portfor.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
The first American celebration of Saint Patrick's Day was in
this US city?

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Which is it?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Mary Lee and Frederick, You've got the question, what is
your guest for these tickets to see Gabriel Iglesias.

Speaker 5 (13:07):
Manhattan, New York?

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Did you google that to find out the answer? Are
you're just feeling lucky on this Saint Patti's Day?

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Lucky?

Speaker 3 (13:17):
New York City is a very good guest. The only
other city that may have come to mind would be
maybe Boston, Right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Would say Chicago, but Chicago was too late in the game.
You know, New York's older than the country.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
City of immigrants, and it is the right answer, New
York City.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
It is top of the morning to you.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
You're going to see Gabriel Iglesias at the Hall and Live.

Speaker 4 (13:43):

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Alrighty, well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:00):

green beer without designating a driver or calling lyfter uber. Okay, alrighty,
Mary Lee and Frederick, you hang right there. Okay, okay,
all right, you hang out right there. There goes Mary Lee.
She's in Frederick and she's feeling very Saint Patty's Bangers
and mashed terrific on this Saint Patrick's Day. Today tomorrow

(14:22):
We've got more tickets fore you to see Gabrielly Glacies
otherwise known as Fluffy's, a great comedian. If you want them,
you just need to be here right around this time
to play and maybe win with another round of your
nearly impossible question. It's ninety seven point one Watch FM,
where the news is on the way, don't move.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Top stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Clean Up and recovery efforts are continuing today after some
powerful storms marched across parts of the South and Midwest,
killing dozens over the weekend. Now preliminary reports indicate the
majority of those deaths occurred in Missouri, where at least
twelve were killed. A DC Police officer is recovering after
allegedly being hit by an ATV. This happened near the

(15:01):
intersection of fifteenth and U Streets around eight fifteen Saturday night,
and police are looking for a blue and black ATV
that was operated by a mail driver. A driver's recovering
after a tree fell on an suv. This happened in
Potomac yesterday. Montgomery County Police a large tree fell across
River Road around four pm. The tree was reportedly pushed

(15:23):
down by strong winds in the area. The district one
step closer to peak bloom. The title Basin's cherry blossoms
have apparently reached a stage two of six of development.
A peak bloom is still expected between March twenty eighth
and thirty first. Facebook says it's going to start testing
its community notes feature this week. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced

(15:48):
back in January that it was removing away from fact
checking and switching to user based content. Moderation, similar to
the system used by x And to maximize coffee's energy effects.
Experts say it is best to enjoy it mid to
late morning, so about an hour to hour and a
half after you wake up. They say that this timing

(16:10):
aligns with the natural decline of cortisol, which is the
hormone that keeps us alert in the morning. Forecasts for
today it's gonna eventually be a sunny day, windy with
highs around fifty six. Right now fifty two in Liesburg.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Have you heard of tapping? Yes, it's a therapy. I
guess Chili's discovered this tap therapy. Apparently it's been around
for a minute. But if anybody knows what this tap
therapy is all about, feel free to give us a
call at eight sixty six ninety two, seven forty three
sixty one or tap the talk back microphone. No pun
intended here, what we did there? Yeah, tell us what

(16:45):
do you think about this tap therapy? And if you
don't know what tap therapy is, get ready because you
might just learn something and then you'll be tapping too
in minutes when you find out what it is.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
With Toby and Chilly in the morning, hang out.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
If you've had experience with this, you might want to
call us at eight sixty six ninety two seven forty
three sixty one or tap no pun intended the talk
bag microphone if you're signed in listening to our iHeart
app Now, why no pun intended? Because Chili has discovered
something new she is very fascinated by. Here at ninety
seven point one wasch FM, and it's called the.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Tapping technique or tapping therapy. Tapping just hear me out here.
So therapist told me about this. And if whenever you're
feeling anxious, or you're feeling angry, or have any kind
of emotional reaction to something, you tap certain points in
your body and they're very specific ones, as you say
out loud what it is you're feeling. If I'm in

(17:41):
a paralysis state of anxiety, for example, maybe I'm on
a flight, Okay, that's a perfect example, and I'm feeling
anxious about sitting in my seat, what I would do
is I would start tapping like the top of my
head and saying I'm really really scared that something is
going to go terribly wrong. And then maybe I would
move to tapping next to my which is another point
saying I'm afraid that this plane is going to have

(18:05):
a technical issue. I'm afraid that we're going to be delayed,
like all of the fears that I'm feeling. I say
it out loud as I'm tapping these very specific points.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
And while you're tapping, I'm sitting there looking at you, like,
why are you doing some sort of orangutan impression on
this plane?

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Well, I can't answer that for you, but this guy
Nick Ortner on YouTube can help you.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
We call it tapping because we are literally physically tapping
on endpoint of meridians of our body. And what the
latest research shows is that when we tap on these places,
we send a comic signal to the amygdala in the brain.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
God bless you ended like you sneeze the amygdala in
the brain. That's not something I expected to hear today.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
No, it's the part that controls fight or flight. It
cost you nothing to try this, and it really can't hurt.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
I know a little bit about tapping. I am feeling anxious.

Speaker 5 (18:59):
That's that's not a meridian point.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
I'm trying to stimulate.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Be Amygdalt you can joke about it, but there are
plenty of YouTube videos for anyone who is interested in trying.
And by the way, if you've done this and benefited
from it, I'd love to hear from you.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yep, if you get some experience with this tap therapy,
it's eight sixty six ninet two seven forty three sixty
one or no pun intended. Tap the talk back microphone.
If you're signed into your iHeart app and tell us
has it helped you? What do you think of this
tap therapy? And we'll discuss with Toby and Chilly in
the morning here on Nutty seven point one wash FM.
We're coming up. We're going to talk about a story

(19:36):
that we think might just make your Monday. Northern Virginia
Community College is helping federal employees and contractors who lost
their jobs to rebound in life. We'll tell you what
they're up to. Coming up in just minutes with Toby
and Chilly in the morning. Stay right, Mariah big Honoure
tonight on Fox all r iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Make sure you watch.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
You are going to be watching right seven point one
wash FM, Tiby and Tilly in the Morning, seven thirty
seven on this Monday, March seventeenth.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Not gonna try to sugarcoat it.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
It's a story that we think might just make your Monday, because,
let's be honest, in this town, we all know somebody
who probably was at one point in time a federal employee,
could have been a federal employee for many years, or
a contractor who's lost their job because of this doge
and these budget cuts. But instead of focusing on the bad,

(20:28):
which is losing a job and not for any reason
of your own doing, we thought we would focus this
morning on how Northern Virginia Community College is really making
our Monday with something that they're doing called Nova Next.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
It's a scholarship program and it's designed to support those
federal workers and contractors who have now lost their jobs,
and they're going to provide up to one thousand displaced
federal workers in Northern Virginia with the share of a
million dollars in scholarships aid, so you can roll in
one of fourteen courses for free, as well as access
job search support from the college because they understand that

(21:07):
they want to do their part in helping these folks.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
And this is a way to get people back on
their feed and by the way, the things that they
can do to help our industry, recognize certifications in fields
that are really in demand like ai IT, project management,
human resources. All of this designed to help displaced workers
enhance their skills and their marketability. And so for people

(21:31):
who are saying maybe interested in starting their own business,
Nova next is also providing boot camps that will focus
on your entrepreneurial skills and will help you to do
just that.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
And they're also going to be giving online workshops covering
resume writing, interview techniques, and job searching because let's face it,
the last time a lot of these workers were at work,
the way to apply for a job was very different.
You printed out a resume, a physical resume, and things
have been updated now and you may be little rust
So they're going to help you understand how to help

(22:03):
you stand out from all the other applicants.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Novan Next bridging the gap to give you what you
need to succeed in today's job market, even though everything
is changing, and to Chilly's point, things have changed a
big time in the job search landscape. It's not like
it used to be. And like we said earlier, there
are people who have had their lives just turned upside
down recently because of these doged these cuts and whatnot,

(22:28):
so organizations like this and programs like this from Northern
Virginia Community College are really really helpful at this time now.
To qualify, you've got to be a federal worker or
a contractor who were laid off on or after February first,
twenty twenty five, which is really when a lot of
these cuts started just just taking place. You also have

(22:50):
to be a Northern Virginia resident. You have to have

Sovechkin Toby and Chilly in the Morning. It's ninety seven
point one was Chef m thank you for waking up

(26:42):
with us.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
So Ovie is just eight goals away from breaking Wayne
Gretzky's all time record, and the question everyone wants to
know is do we think he can do it this season? Well?

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Who better to answer that question than the CEO of
everything Washington Capital's one. Ted Lee owns his mister chairmanly
owns his thoughts.

Speaker 8 (27:05):
Well, I'm so proud of Alex and our organization that,
you know, we've been able to draft Alex and have
spend his whole career and it's a historic career. Not
only have we had a great team, but that he
has this chance to break an unbreakable record and he
considers Washington d C. His second home. The community has

(27:28):
really really embraced Alex and vice versa. You know, it
was very important to Alex for us to have a really,
really good team while he was in pursuit of the record,
and you know, the playoffs will start in April, and
Alex has always focused on teams success. But within that context,
I think Alex can break this record. And he's forty

(27:49):
years old, you know, I think he's obviously first ballot
Hall of Famer and every game you can see history
being made, and I think he can break the record
this year.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
It just says, yes, yes, he will break the record
this year.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
That's right. But we don't want to Jigson, We don't
mention it.

Speaker 9 (28:07):
We don't talk about it much with him and guess
one more year left on his deal, so you know,
if he can play this year and he can play
next year, I certainly think for his career, this record
will be his.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I really hope he doesn't do it at the last
game of the season where they're playing in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
Those Penguin fans don't deserve it.

Speaker 8 (28:26):
I think you can't plan for it. I think it
just has to come.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
But yeah, it would be fantastic.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Well, if you guys want to come to a game, we.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
Can do some fun things on this. I didn't realize
you were such a oh a big fan, and yeah,
it's a fantastic time to be a hockey fan.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
Thank you for indulging us this morning.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
Okay, you guys are great. Thank you, yes, thank you
for everything that you do to lead.

Speaker 2 (28:49):

and your organization, you really do lead. In the DMV,
you know, one of the shining star examples of what
it means to be great corporate sets.
