Good morning. Why are we feeling good before five?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, I'm feeling good before five because the Germans are
efficient and they were supposed to send me something that
it was supposed to arrive later on today, but it
arrived over the weekend. It was a great surprise, and
now I am one step closer to not having to
go get wrapped up in the legs every day. Not
that I don't like that, but I've been wearing these
compression like wraps for about the last month and a
(00:39):
half and now I have my own custom fit stockings.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
But the only place they could come from was Germany.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well, I'm glad you received them finally. Hope they're more
Hopefully they're more comfortable than what you were dealing with.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I hope so too, because I'm like, I'm overwearing what
I'm wearing right now. I've had to like keep this
thing Frankenstein taped together all weekend to make sure that
things don't go sideways with my progress any the little
things that make you feel good on a Monday morning.
Why are you feeling all right this morning?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Well, even though I did not attend a University of Maryland,
it's still very exciting to wake up to news that
they are advancing to the Sweet sixteen, which day one,
with just three seconds left on the clock. I guess
Colorado State seventy two, seventy.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
One, big buzzer beater.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Oh, that's very exciting for the Terps. They're advancing to
the West region's number one seed, Florida. They're going to
be taking on.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's because we talked about those shirts on Friday, the.
Speaker 3 (01:34):

The guy who is making those shirts.

Weak day morning's right around this time.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
We pause, we think about you and your morning mindset.
It's ninety seven point one wash FM.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
So what is the quote you have for everybody to
get us onto a good headspeace.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Well here, Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
This comes to us from Mark Manson, who says, Courage
is feeling the fear, the doubt, the insecurity and deciding
that something else.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Is more important.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Courage is feeling the fear, the doubt, security and deciding
that something else is more important. Now, courage does not
mean that you're not afraid. It means you're scared and
you move anyway, And you might be full of doubt today,
you could be unsure maybe you feel unqualified or not
ready for something, but there is a bigger purpose on
the other side. It's your purpose, your next chapter, your dreams.
(05:19):
So feel the fear, acknowledge your insecurities, and then choose
to act anyway, because what matters most is the risk.
Let that carry you through the day. Mark Manson, thank
you for those words that inspire. Courage is feeling the fear,
the doubting and security and deciding that something else is
more important. That's your morning mindset for this Monday, the
(05:42):
twenty fourth day. Oh well, Jennie, if every March and
if it helped you, it'll help somebody else. So feel
free to find it on the Toby and chilipage at
washfm dot com and share it with them all right,
and stay there because coming up in just a few minutes, Shelley,
we were having a lively discussion last week and somebody
will like to jump into the conversation we were having.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
It's about seeing stuff your friends post on social media
and feeling very excluded from your circle.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Is that a thing for teenagers? It is?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
But is it the same way for adults. We'll find
out what this person has to say. Is we revisit
this coming up till we at Chili.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
In the morning. It's Monday, Friday.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
We were talking about how teens feel rejected, even jealous
when they see their friends hanging on social media. It stings.
And I asked, Chili, I said, do you think adults
feel the same way?
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:30):
And I said I absolutely did. And I gave an
example too.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Right, And I talked about why I don't feel that way.
Maybe I might have once upon a time, but not
so much anymore. And though there isn't really even.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
A sting now.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Monica, Good morning, Monica, Monica, Monica. You know these kids,
these teens, they get all jealous. Do you think that
adults feel the same way.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I one hundred percent think they do. I'm in my
forties and I feel the same way.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
So what happened that makes you say that.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Similar to what happened to you? Usually? I had some
friends that I grew up with, childhood friends, and a
couple of years ago, they went to a Ruba. They
didn't tell me, they didn't invite me, and I just
happened to see it on social media and it just
it really really hurt my feelings that they didn't invite me,
and subsequently we're not friends.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Anymore now playing Devil's Advocate. Maybe they knew you wouldn't
be able to go, or maybe they knew you just
weren't a fan of traveling to Aruba, or you know,
maybe it was one of those things you couldn't have
afforded and they didn't want to ask you about it,
just to kind of look out for you.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
I mean, did you ever think that that might be
a possibility?
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Those all were probably true at some point. I just
if they would have just at least extended the invitation
and let me say no, that would have made me
feel one hundred percent better. But it really just it
kind of broke my heart.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I can totally get it breaking your heart. But what
I didn't mention when I shared my story is that
I did bring it up to my girlfriends and talk
to them about it, so we salvaged the French. Did
you ever say anything to your friends, Monica.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
K I told them that I was bothered by it.
They couldn't really see why I was hurt, and I
think that's why we kind of just the communication broke down.
And mean, I still love them, We're still going to
be in each other's lives. We're just not as cool
as we used to be.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Have you reached a point as a adult, as a
person now where you just kind of let this stuff
slide off your back. You don't really care about it anymore.
Because I kind of reached that point.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I want to reach your point. So I'm working towards
getting there of this.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Like you said, let them it was a process, but
you know what, it's better for you, I think mentally, physically,
and psychologically too.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah, So here's hoping that I can get there.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, we're all cheering for you because we're inclusive of you,
and you're a friend that we would post about you.
In fact, we'll go post about you right now.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Oh my goodness, you better won't be friends anymore.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Don't tempt me there, Monica from Brentwood, because you know
what all you have to do is tempt me, and
I'll go do it. In fact, I'm gonna go make
that post right now while we all wait for the news.
Top Stories at the top of the Hour on the
way in just minutes, hang out with Tobya Chili in
the morning.
Speaker 1 (09:08):

of the hour with Toby and Chile in the morning.
That's me, I'm Toby now pay Chili AMII and Vienna's
hanging on the line. She wants to talk about what
we were talking about earlier. And then last Friday we
were talking about how teens get the fomo when they
see their friends posting on social media and you and
I had like a little sidebar about well does this
happen to adults too?
Speaker 3 (11:24):
And she has some thoughts she wants to share with the.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Class, so we cool with that absolutely, all right, Well
we'll get to that coming up in minutes. Do not
move with Toby and Chili in the morning. Thank you
for waking up with people. Do feel the fomo? Adults
do just like teens? Ninety seven point one wash FM
Toby and Chili in the Morning. There was a survey
out that said the teens feel rejected fomo when they
(11:47):
see their friends posting about something they didn't get an
invite to, like on social media. And Chili and I
were talking and I said to Chili, do you think
this applies to adults? Chili said yes, explained to her
reasons why, and a lot.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Of you also felt the same way and joined the conversation.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
You can't understand why.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
But to Vienna, where Alma Lee is listening, Amily, you
felt a bit snubbed. Yeah, We've been invited to this
saghbor's house for Halloween party for a good fifteen years.
And before Halloween I saw.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Them and I said, hey, you know you're having a
party this year and.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
They said so.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Then after Halloween.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
I saw pictures on Facebook of the party.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Oh did you confront them about it? Like, Hey, I
thought you said you weren't having a party.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
No, never said a word.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
I just was hurt.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Do you think that you might not have liked what
you heard?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
It doesn't matter. Our friendship sort of came to an
end after that.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Yeah, I don't blame you. That is hurtful, especially when
you ask them about it and they lied.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
What's going on here with these so called friends of yours?
Speaker 4 (12:50):
I don't really care.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
I mean most people suck.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Well. On that note, have a great morning, Shelby and
Kelly Nearly. And you ever heard of Dave Matthews.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
He's got a band and they're coming to play mare
with the post pavilion.
Speaker 3 (13:05):

Speaker 3 (13:29):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Call? Now?
Speaker 3 (13:30):

Speaker 2 (13:31):
When your nearly impossible question from Monday is on Toby.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
And Chilly's nearly Impossible.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Question and the question is one more time, just in
case you missed it and for the benefit though those
who are just now joining us.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Research shows that doing this while writing a to do
list can make you more likely to complete the tasks.
What is it?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Good morning, Denny and Walkersville.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Thanks to Live Nation, you're playing for these tickets to

is your guest?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Sir?
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Good morning?
Speaker 4 (13:58):
I'm using different colors?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Do you do that? When you like make it to
do list? Do you color code it? Because I know
people who do, and I've never stopped to ask them
if it's effective?
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yes, I do? Am I actually on my phone on
my to do list?
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Well, that method, to your madness, makes a lot of
sense because that is the correct answer. It makes you
more likely to complete the tasks.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Denny, Awesome, Wow, that's.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Great reasons to use the color coding features. I didn't
even realize we had on these to do lists. Huh yeah,
that's the only app interesting. I'll have to try that. Well,
thank you, congratulations. Make sure you color code in your
favorite color. The date of the Dave Matthews Bands show

impossible question on this Monday. More Dave Matthew's man tickets
on the Way tomorrow and the news top stories at
the top.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Of the hour. On the way right around seven, stay.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
There, Top stories top of the Hour. President Trump's Special
envoy to the Middle East says negotiators are making progress
toward a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Steve woodcomm says
the two sides will negotiate today towards the ceasefire in
the naval war on the Black Seat. Education Secretary Linna
McMahon says federal funding will continue for essential education programs
(15:25):
as the Trump administration pushes to shut down the Department
of Education. She says many of the programs will be
transferred to other agencies in an effort to make education
funding more efficient. Jessica Aber, a former US Attorney for
the Eastern District of Virginia was found dead in her
Alexandria home on Saturday. She was forty three. A cause
(15:46):
of death has not been released. The DOJ says that
she worked on a variety of financial fraud, public corruption,
violent crime, and child exploitation cases. DC's cherry blossoms have
now entered their last stage before peak bloom Buds on
the title basin cherry trees are starting to show pink
(16:07):
and white petals. University of Maryland advanced to the Sweet
sixteen and a thriller, beating Colorado State seventy two to
seventy one in the second round of the NCAA tournament yesterday,
so the Terps advanced to face the West region's number
one seed, Florida. And A recent study compared US cities
based on things like natural hazards and access to disaster
(16:29):
response sources to determine the safest cities from natural disasters.
Coming in at number one, Lynchburg, Virginia, it's the safest
city in the US, followed by Roanoke, and by the way,
Alexandria came in fourth and Richmond seventh. Forecasts for today
some showers this morning otherwise partly cloudy sixty two to
(16:49):
the high right now forty seven in Anadale.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
I was thinking maybe you could grab the phone and
call us at eight six six nine two seven forty
three sixty one, or if it's easier and you're signed
in listening to a on your iHeart app, you can
always tap that talk back microphone. And by the way,
thanks for making us pre set number one here at
ninety seven point one wash FM. Toby and Tilly in
the morning wanted to talk with you about a choice
(17:12):
that you've made not to have kids and how this
now is more accepted than it's ever been before. So
my question is this for you, and you can tell
me what gives your life the most meaning now. Couples
who choose to be childless, they're more accepted now than
they might have been in the past. But what is
it that gives your life meaning? Right could be anything,
(17:36):
doesn't have to be parenting, doesn't have to be whatever.
We're just curious about you and what it is that
gives your life that reason to get up and keep going.
So call us now, tell us about it. We're going
to talk more about this coming up and we'll tell
you why we're bringing it up. In just a few minutes,
stay with me. We're Toby Untilly in the morning at
ninety seven point one wash FM, where at seven twenty three.
So what gives your life the most meaning? Would love
(17:59):
to hear from you? You if there's something that comes
to mind when I ask you that question at eight
sixty six nine two, seven forty three sixty one, it's
eight sixty six wash FM, the number one. Or if
you're listening to us on your iHeart app and you're
signed and you can tap speak and send us a
voice note a message to come right here to myself
and the chili youm are here in the studio. And
the reason why I bring this up chili is because
there are couples who.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Choose not to have children, and society is looking at
that as a more acceptable choice now than they did
decades ago.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Because in the past, it was always just assumed that
that was what you would do. Well, you're gonna find
the right person, you're kinda get married, then you're gonna
have two or three kids.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
We just can't wait for the kids now, there's nothing
wrong with them.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
But it was also like if you didn't have children,
then well, parenting it's the meaning of life. I mean,
that's what.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
I'm wrong about you. Yeah, well guess what. There's an
entire generation of people looks like gen z uh is
leading the way here. They're like, you know what, Hey,
maybe I don't want to do this. Maybe I would
rather habitat Maybe I would rather just be in this
dull income, no kids sort of a relationship so I
can go and live the life that I want to live,
(19:10):
because that's what gives me meaning.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
You know.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
So when you think about it, and if we were
to remove our kids, because obviously you and I are
both parents, from the equation, what would give you the
most meaning? Setting aside the parenting thing.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I would say, if I had a passion project, I
just want to leave a legacy some sort. Maybe I
started charity, or maybe I do something meaningful that will
impact lives long after I'm done. That would get to me.
That would give the most meaning. What about you?
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Every day is a chance to learn new things, and
I have this insatiable appetite for knowledge and just learning
things that I don't know or discovering things that I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
I was the kid who used to.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Take the World Book Encyclopedia to the bathroom, and I
didn't even need to go to the bathroom. It was
just a quiet place where I could hang out and
not have to worry about the rest of the family
and my brother's coming around, and I could just all right,
we'll start with a I'll just start going through and
you know, the things that you learn. So for me,
learning and just constantly never wanting to stop learning and
(20:11):
experimenting and trying new things gives.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Me meaning in life.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
And you know, along the way, maybe something I learned
will help to dent the universe and make it a
different place, you know, I mean, thoughts, You don't have
to choose to do the parenting thing if you don't
want to. It's more accepted now than ever. So what
is it that gives your life the most meaning? If
you want to jump into the conversation, we would love
(20:37):
to hear from you at eight six six nineteen seven
forty three sixty one, give us a call now we'll
talk again, coming up here in minutes with Toby and
Chilly in the morning. Next though, we've got a story
from Silver Spring about a woman who has a tasty
story that might just make your Monday.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
She spreads love one super Bowl at a time.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
That's right. Have you heard of the soup Lady in
Silver Spring?
Speaker 2 (20:59):
If you haven't, you will, And then we're all gonna
go to Silver Spring and see if we can get
some tasty soup.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
You've got to hear the story and you will come
and up. Stay right there.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Time out for a story that we think might just
make your Monday. We go to Silver Spring and we
introduce you to an amazing woman named Sue Clark. She's
also known as Super Sue or Sue, and yes, she
makes soup.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
It all started five years ago, during the pandemic. She
started making soup for her neighbors who need a little
extra help, and before she knew it, the entire community
got involved. People started donating vegetables, friends pitched in to
deliver meals, and it became this really beautiful collective effort.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Flash forward five years later. She's made thousands of pots
of soup over the years, and we're not exaggerating that.
She laughs about it. But here's the thing about the soup.
For Sue making the soup is totally worth it. She's
retired in Silver Spring. She says some hardship in life.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
She lost her mother when she was a teenager, and
then her husband passed away from a heart attack. So
she knows how important it is for people to come through.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
And she channels all of that love and all of
that experience into every pot of soup she makes.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
It's brought a lot of people together.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
It's honestly been such a blessing. Her soup is love.
It's such a small thing. It really makes me feel
cared for and it makes me feel connected to my community.
I mean, it's delicious, and those are just some of
the people who got to experience the love and soup
from Sue. People were there for me, and I just
