Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one WASHUF out Toby.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
And Chilly in the Morning, ninety seven point one wash
FM and Happy Halloween.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Yeah, you know what, the first thing I did this
morning was check the forecast, because if you are going
to go trigger treating, you're going to want to know
how the weather's going to impact your costume.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
One.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Now, the good news is no rain. That's for tonight
or today. Maybe bad news it's going to be very windy. Yeah,
extra bobby pins if you're wearing a wig. And also
the kiddos may need to wear and this really sucks
that they'd have to wear a jacket over their costume.
But it's going to feel like in the forties tonight,
so whatever least it's not going to be pouring rain.
(00:44):
At least you are going to have trigger treaters. And
let's be honest, the cold don't really affect the kids
that much. They go to the bus stop in shorts
and winters.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
So they'll do anything for free candy for a couple
of hours. Have a great night tonight if you're headed out,
and Happy Halloween to everybody that thinks this is a
national holiday.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Or should be a national holiday, and that's a big
day for a lot of you.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
And also be mindful that they're little kiddos who are
excited darting out right in the middle of the streets.
Just drive slow, That's all I gotta say.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Exactly, all right, we get a great show for you
today on this Halloween. If you're headed into work driving
in your costume right now, I know there are some
people that are doing that.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Chili's working on Top Stories coming up next.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
We've got the government shut down continuing through at least Monday,
and how this is all going to affect those SNAP
benefits details on the way.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (01:34):

Speaker 2 (03:12):
All right, thanks Chili, coming up next on this Friday morning,
We're gonna give you the morning mindset. This is an
inspirational quote that Chili reads for us every Friday morning
or every morning, and it's kind of put us in
the right mood, but the right way to get into
the day. That's all next here with Toby and Chili
on WASHFM, Toby and Chile in the morning, ninety seven
point one, wash f them. I'm kidd oo'she It's time
for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
So, because it is Friday, we do our best of
the eighties weekend and that usually kicks off right around
five o'clock with Sabrina Conti, and so we picked a
lyric from the song Summer of sixty nine, Oh Bye
Brian Adams, and in it he says, ain't no use
in complaining when you got a job to do. Basically,
it's a reminder that complaining doesn't make things go any
easier or faster. Action does because we all face moments
(03:55):
where tasks feel tough, boring or unfair. But the lyric
captures the cloud work ethic of rolling up those sleeves
and pushing.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
Through it anyway.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Really, it's your mindset, right, instead of focusing on what's wrong,
just focus.
Speaker 6 (04:08):
On getting it done and making the best of it.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Brian Adams in the song of Summer of sixty nine says,
ain't no use in complaining when you got a job
to do. So whatever job you've get, keep that in
mind today.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, there's a couple of people in the office I
hope are listening right now. Please, Okay, you can share
that with somebody that may need to hear that quote
just by going to our Instagram page search wash FM
Chili posts our morning mindsets every single morning.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Coming up.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Next Trick or treating is taking place tonight. Yesterday we
were talking about the best and worst Halloween candy to
hand out. And as you know, you can leave us
a message anytime inside the iHeart apps by using the
red microphone when you're listening to ninety seven point one
wash FM. Gary in DC left us a message with
a few suggestions which were not on our list yesterday.
I can't believe we missed these candies. He'll share that
(04:54):
with us next Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety
seven point one Wash FM, Good morning and happy Halloween Kiddoshe.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
So, this is going to be your first time in
a decade of you living in the DC area that
you get to experienced trick or treats because you're temporarily
staying in the suburbs with family.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Okay, loving my life in the suburbs.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
And I told you that you need to make sure
that you're giving out the good stuff, Okay. And we
got some great calls yesterday and suggestions from our listeners
on the type of candy you should be giving out.
And I think we may have missed some.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, because Snickers and reces were already on that list,
which are great. Gary in DC leftists message by opening
up the iHeart app and using that red microphone.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Here's his suggestion.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Hey Chilli, Hey kid, it's Gary in DC. My recommendation
is to make sure you have plenty of Titjacks, butterfingers,
and three musketeers, and also make sure that you have
enough to give out because you know, parents are going
to get the cut of the candy.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Amen.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
He knows parents are going to take their pick for
I have to feed the parents too.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
I get some icy yes, okay.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Perfect, Yeah, but you know KitKat, absolutely butterfingers.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
You're saying, no, I love a butterfinger unless you get
a stale one.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Then it's questionable say that about.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
Any of the candy.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
All right, Chili's working on Top Stories on this Friday morning.
She'll update us on all of that. Plus we have
a bunch of music lined up for you, so enjoy
the drive in. We're back to that next Toby and

nearly impossible question right. That's coming up right around six
twenty this.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Morning, All right with Toby and Chili on ninety seven

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station, coming

Speaker 3 (06:51):
The government shut down will continue through the weekend with

Janet Jackson ninety seven point one Wash FM.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
The government shut down will continue through the weekend and
with no resolution insight. Millions of low income Americans are
set to be impacted because the SNAP food benefits for
about forty two million people are set to expire tomorrow now. Locally,
Maryland has declared a state of emergency after those funds
run out for about six hundred and eighty thousand residents.
(07:38):
Governor Wes Moore pledged ten million dollars in state aid
to support food banks. Meanwhile, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said
that local residents will continue receiving SNAP benefits next month,
and that's backed by thirty million dollars in contingency funds
for SNAP and WIC programs. A forty four year old
man from Tacoma Park has been arrested for allegedly disguising
(08:00):
himself as a woman to enter women's locker rooms at
multiple gyms in the DC area and secretly filming women
while they were showering. Police confirmed at least four incidents
across several facilities a day. Back to July of twenty
twenty four, the Washington National is taking an unexpected turn
in their managerial search, reportedly set to hire thirty three
(08:21):
year old Blake Butterra as their new manager now. Butterra
has spent the past two years as the Tampa Bay
Ray's senior director of player Development. iHeartMedia is going to
be serving as NBC Universal's exclusive audio partner for the
twenty twenty six Winter Olympics in Italy. Those games will
(08:41):
begin February sixth, and Researchers have found that some of
the same genes that make children smarter may also help
their parents live longer. About a third of the genes
linked to intelligence also affect lifespan, possibly by improving health
or life opportunities. Forecast for today partly cloudy and windy,
highs around sixty right now fifty one in Annandale.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
And I'm kidd O'shee and for Toby coming up next,
did you know there is a way to prolong the
life of your carved pumpkins. We'll share some easy hacks
with you coming up next that you can use today.
Plus it's Halloween, so we're gonna play a Halloween favorite
for everyone next.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Happy Halloween. Great one from.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Ray Parker Junior and Ghostbusters. Will have more of those
favorites all day long today right here on ninety seven
point one Wash FM with Toby and Chili in the morning.
I'm kidd O'Shea. We have some easy hacks to prolong
the life of your carved pumpkins.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Yeah, those jack lanterns.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Now, I will say I did not grow up carving
pump pumpkins, okay, and I as a mom.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Do not do this every year, all right, because it's
a mess.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
And quite honestly, we've got animals that eat those things
right outside the stoop.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
You're not going to invest the time in something like this.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
No, but I know a lot of people do. The
downside is they get gross and moldy. And yeah, there's
a way to have you have those out there on
your dup longer.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Good.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
So first you're supposed to wash the outside with some
mild soap, to something.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
That I've never done when carving pumpkins.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Disinfect the inside, like with some bleach solution or three
percent hydrogen peroxide to prevent mold.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Then here's the one I think is really helpful. Apply
a very thin layer of vasoline or petroleum jelly on
all the exposed parts of the pumpkin, like the inside,
the edges, to keep the moisture in. And then they're saying,
don't use real candles, use those led ones instead. And
then just don't put them in the direct sunlight either,
(10:37):
because that way.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
They won't dry out the real candles.
Speaker 6 (10:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Wow, Well I learned something new. But I also learned
that I will not be carving pumpkins anytime soon.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible questions.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Way too much work. All right, what is today's question?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Sixty percent of parents say they've lied to their kids
about this.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
What is it?
Speaker 6 (10:56):
I will say this is a big hint. It is
related to Halloween.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
All right?
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Good, We've got tickets for you to see bon Jovi
at Madison Square Garden, a pair of tickets for you
right now on July ninth, thanks to Live Nation.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
If you can answer the question correctly.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Here's the phone number eight six six nine two seven
four three six one.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
That's eight six six wash FM one. What's that question again?
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Sixty percent of parents say they've lied to their kids
about this.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
It's Halloween related?
Speaker 4 (11:24):
What is it? We have the answer to the nearly
impossible question.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Next, Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible question, and I'm kiddo.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
O'she in for Toby.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
We are playing for tickets to see bon Jovi at
Madison Square Garden on July ninth, thanks to our friends
at Live Nation Chili.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
What is today's question?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
It is Halloween related. Sixty percent of parents say they've
lied to their kids about this?
Speaker 7 (11:48):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
All right?
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one
to answer the nearly impossible question? Mike and Waldorf, Good morning,
Good morning, And you've.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
Got the question. What do you think the answer might be?
I would say, eat some of the Halloween candy?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Are you confessing right now, Mike that you steal or
finish your kids candy?
Speaker 6 (12:15):
And say, oh, I don't know what happened.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
I might be possibly guilty of that.
Speaker 6 (12:22):
Well, who can blame you? That stuff is delicious? And
you're also correct.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Sixty percent of parents have lied to their kids about
finishing the Halloween candy.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
Congratulations, thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
And you know what, you just won a pair of
tickets to see Bond Jovie at Madison Square Garden.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
My wife will be very excited.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Excellent, a nice little treat on this Halloween. Happy Halloween

At least fifty people have been killed after Hurricane Melissa
swept through the Caribbean, with most deaths caused by flooding
in Haiti. The toll is expect to rise as search
and rescue efforts continue in Jamaica and Cuba. The government
shutdown is going to continue through at least Monday, with
no resolution in sight as the Senate remains adjourned. So
snap benefits for about forty two million Americans are set
(14:14):
to expire tomorrow, while a federal judge weighs a lawsuit
from twenty five states seeking emergency funding now in our area,
Maryland has declared a state of emergency as those funds
run out for about six hundred and eighty thousand residents.
Governor Wes Moore announced ten million dollars in state aid
for food banks. Meanwhile, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that DC
(14:35):
residents will still receive their SNAP benefits next month, with
thirty million dollars in local contingency funds covering SNAP and
WIC programs. DC public safety officials are urging the city
to extend the its stricter youth curfew following a rise
in juvenile crime. So at a council hearing, the police
(14:57):
Chief Pamila Smith and Deputy Mayor Lindsay pie Up said
that the curfew, which was in place over the summer,
really helped reduce crime and should be made permanent, and
a vote on that is scheduled for Tuesday. And according
to recent survey, Americans ideal grilled cheese is made with
white bread, It's cut into triangles with the crusts left on,
(15:19):
and cheddar as the top cheese choice. Seventy one percent
preferred buttering the bread, and on average, Americans eat three
grilled cheese sandwich is a month.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Oh wow, yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Forecast for today party, cloudy and windy, highs around sixty
right now, fifty one in Booie.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
And I'm kdoshe. I've got some catching up to do
on those grilled cheeses this month, all right? Coming up next,
our feel Good Friday story of the day when a
government shut down. When the government shut down put his
day job on pause, a thirty one year old IRS
attorney decided to trade tax codes for hot dogs. This
is such a great story. We will share that with
you next on ninety seven point one Wash FM. And
(16:00):
that is a must on Halloween Monster Mash ninety seven
point one with Toby and Chilly in the morning and
kiddoshe Happy Halloween. It's great to have you here. Every Friday,
we like to put a story on the air for you.
That's a feel good Friday story.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
I mean, look, it's really tough during this government shut down,
a lot of folks out of work. But there's a
thirty one year old IRS tax attorney. His name is
Isaac Stein, and he's using this time to turn a
childhood dream into reality. He said that he's launched this
hot dog stand called Shister's Dogs Love It and it's
located near First in M Streets in Northeast d C.
(16:37):
And he is selling mustard and sauerkraut hot dogs paired
with an RC cola because he says that's the best pairing.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Love It for ten bucks.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Now he knew what he felt like this shutdown was
about to happen. He started the whole permitting process so
before it even happened. And then he officially launched this
hot dog stand October eighth, and he says every day
he dresses in a sharp suit, just like he as
an attorney, and he pushes the cart from a nearby
commercial kitchen to his lunchtime spot and people are lining up,
(17:08):
sometimes twenty five people deep, waiting for a taste of
his very unique style hot dogs, and they're trying to
support him during the shutdown. He's living out his childhood dream.
He's you know, he says, a lot of people he's
getting to meet them. And he's also when the government reopens,
he's going to continue doing this on weekends because he's
(17:29):
loving it so much. So again, he's making us feel
good because he's making lemonade out of lemons, so to speak.
And so thank you so much, Isaac for giving us
a story that makes us really feel good on this Friday.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
And I love that he still wears his suits. Oh
my god, he's doing his hot dogs. That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
All right, Coming up next here, I need to know
does everyone do this when it comes to handing out
treats on Halloween or is it just a chiliamar thing.
What we'll share what goes into trigger treating at Chili's
house coming up next, and it may change what you
hand out tonight or how you hand things out.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
That's next.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
To me and Chilly in the morning ninety seven point
one wash FM, I'm kidd O'Shea, Happy Halloween. How prepared
are you for trigger treaters tonight? I thought I was
prepared for my first time handing out candy and over
a decade until Chili told me what she does at
her house.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Well, let me just say this.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
I am a parent, so my mindset is a little
bit different than yours, and I'm owning up to the
fact that.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
I might be a little extra.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Okay, So in addition to having your traditional candy, which
is like chocolate bars, I also have just candy because
not every kid likes chocolate. But then a couple of
years ago, I added another level, which was little fidgets
or little toys, because there are food allergies and I
(18:52):
don't want those kids to be deprived. So if a
kid like that comes to the door, then I give
them a little fidget. And by the way, it's not
a huge investment. You can go the Dollar Tree and
buy little toys or whatever for them and just put
those in their bag.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
That's three bowls.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
That's the whole whole toy store you got in your
front yard.
Speaker 6 (19:09):
It sounds like I kind of yeah, but it's not.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
It's not that, and it makes it just brings me joy,
right that everybody can be included.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Now do you think you did say you're a little
extra with this, But do you think there's people that
this isn't You're not the only person has three bowls out?
Speaker 6 (19:24):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
And actually there are people that even invest in getting
like a teal pumpkin, because back in twenty thirteen, this
whole thing started where if there's a teal pumpkin on
the front of the house, that's a visual that people
can know that you're an allergy friendly home. Oh, but
their kids can go to I have. That's my next
step is to actually get a teal pumpkin.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Just when I thought I was prepared for trigger treaters tonight,
I don't think I'm anywhere near ready. You're fine, all right,
We're working on top stories. We'll get that for you
at the top of the hour. Plus we've got a
bunch of music lined up for you on this Halloween
All continuing next with Toby and Chilly on ninety seven

Millions of low income Americans are set to be impacted

Speaker 5 (21:04):
Top Stories, top of the app.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
The government shutdown will continue through the weekend and with
no resolution inside. Millions of low income Americans are sent
to be impacted because SNAP food benefits for about forty
two million people are set to expire tomorrow now. Because
of that, Maryland has declared a state of emergency and
they've got about six hundred and eighty thousand residents that
are impacted by those SNAP funds. So Governor Wes Moore
(21:29):
pledged ten million dollars in state aid to support food banks. Meanwhile,
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said local residents will continue receiving
those SNAP benefits next month, and that's backed by thirty
million dollars in contingency funds for both SNAP and WIC programs.
A forty four year old man from Tacoma Park was
arrested for allegedly disguising himself as a woman to enter
(21:51):
women's locker rooms and multiple gyms in the DC area
and then secretly filming the women while they were showering.
Police confirmed at least four incidents at several facilities at
date back to July of twenty twenty four, The Washington
Nationals took an unexpected turn in their managerial search. They
reportedly are set to hire thirty three year old Blake
(22:12):
Butterra as their new manager. He has spent the past
two years as the Tampa Bay Rays senior director of
player Development, and according to a recent poll, most Americans
dislike changing the clocks twice the year. Only twelve percent
support the current system. Now, if you were given a choice, okay,
(22:34):
fifty six percent say they would prefer permanent daylight saving
for brighter evenings and forty two percent favorite permanent standard
for lighter mornings. Forecast for today partly cloudy, windy, highs
around sixty right now, fifty one in Alexandria.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I'm gonna have to think about that one. Thanks, Chile,
I'm kiddo. O'shek coming up next? How competitive are you
when it comes to Halloween costume contests? Chile is doing
something this year to increase her chances of winning that
she's never done before. To try to win the company contest.
We'll share that with you coming up next Toby and
Chile in the morning ninety seven point one wash FM.
(23:12):
I'm kidd o'sha, Happy Halloween. How competitive are you when
it comes to your Halloween costume contests?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, I'm generally not a competitive person. I don't know
what's gotten into me this year. Every year here at iHeart,
they have a costume contest where you submit photos in
front of our logo here and first, second, and third
place gets money. I mean there's a pretty decent amount
of money there.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
For a prize.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Pretty nice.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
So I decided to double dip this year.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Well, now explain your strategy here, Chili. It sounds like
you are determined to win this contest. At least I
want to have a chance at winning.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
So I thankfully you agreed that I wanted to do
a teammate costume with you, and so I made.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
Our costumes for you and I.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
I made myself to be a social butterfly butterfly wings,
and I have social media logos all over my body.
And you are the introvert, the opposite of me. And
I made you a T shirt that says, do not
speak to me simple.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
Okay, So we submit that photo.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
But then I went to our producer Crash and I said,
please help me think of something for you and I tod.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Just in case the kid one doesn't work out.
Speaker 6 (24:22):
Exactly, okay, And you said, I said, well, I'll wear
a Netflix shirt.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
So you're wearing a red shirt. It says Netflix on it.
And what's the rest of the costume. Look at it
from here? Oh, when you stand next to Chilli. Yes,
it's Netflix and Chili.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
We'll submit that photo as well.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Has anyone discussed who's getting the shares of the money
if we win?
Speaker 6 (24:48):
Well about that, Toby and Chili.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
In the Morning ninety seven point one wash FM, Good morning,

Jonas Brothers ninety seven point one wash FM with Toby
and Chile in the morning. Um kiddo'she if you need
some extra sleep this weekend, this is the weekend for you.

you do that before you go to bed Saturday night.
And it's only extra sleep if you don't have kids
or pests.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
I forgot about that part.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Ninety seven point one WASHFM with Toby and Chilly in
the morning. Um kidd o'she Jenny Chase coming in in
just a few minutes and at nine ten, she's got
your shot at one thousand dollars with our thousand dollars

Speaker 3 (25:55):
So Best of the Eighties Weekend kicks off at five
o'clock today with Sabrina Kandi and at all honor of that,
we've picked a song from the eighties Summer of sixty
nine by Brian Adams, and there's a lyric in there
that says, ain't no use in complaining when you got
a job to do. It's a reminder that complaining doesn't
make things go easier or faster. Action does.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
So get her done, get her done on this Friday,
and here's Brian Adams right now.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Have a great weekend.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
