Well, I recently mentioned that mydaughter got asked out on her first date.
Wow. Well I can report thatit has happened. Wow, how

I said, I knew this daywas gonna come. I thought I would
be prepared. I'm not. Butit is what it is. My daughter's
going to be fifteen in a month. Wow, so's it's that age.
Yeah, I mean it's gonna happen. Yeah, but it's here, and

so it is what it is.I guess she got asked out on this
date. And I don't know thiskid, but as a kid that she
went to school with, like elementary'scool with. And then like they reconnected
at my son's graduation because his sistergoes to school with my son. So
maybe they'll connect up too, Idon't know's I don't know, I don't

know. If listen, uh so, and then they were talking whatever.
He then sent her a text askingher out. Wow, and it went
down yesterday. Oh my god,it's really exciting. Yeah, Okay,
so it was a lunch date.Okay, I like that. I feel
better about that for some reason thanlike a dinner date or something. Yeah,

lunch dates. Yeah, yeah,the dark, weird things happening,
or like a movie date. No, no, we're not very I don't
like any So he asked her tolunch. That's very like. I feel
like that's very mature, like alunch date. Yeah, I wouldn't have
done that when I was fifteen.I think we I just would have.
We just would have hung out.Yeah, let's go to the beach and

hangout, or like let's go toa baseball like like our friends playing a
game where we made it a game, or like we go to a movie.
Like it all makes sense. Aday lunch date is maybe bullying,
Yeah, bowling, mini golf,a day lunch date is a right word
for that. Yeah, like that'swhat I don't like. Girl. I
think, I think, I thinklike mom or dad got in there for

sure. I don't know, becausemy wife is friends with the mom,
and so they've been chatting back intoof course, and the mom. Let
Deborah know that this kid is takingthis very seriously. Okay. He ironed
his shirt. The night before,So we're not just wearing like a T

shirt. Kid, rock day buttondown for this, yes, oh my
god, this wonderful lunch date.I rock your best button down, short
sleep, button out, a longsleeve that I don't know, I can't
go long sleeve, and then youroll up the sleeves. I think,
shortly, shortly button down? Whatis this like? That's the cute little

surfer look a little short sleep like? What I mean, you're assuming they
live in the East County. Idon't know if there's a surfer. Oh
yeah, but I'm just saying,you sleeve like, what is a banker
like a lawyer? What are wedoing? You roll it up the sleeps
I don't know. I wouldn't haveworn a button down. I would have

worn a T shirt. Well,they decide they're going to go to a
Mexican restaurant. Is your daughter wearinga prom dress? What? No,
she's not going as fancy as ablazer to his button. No. I
think she dressed cute. She worejeans, and then she had on like

a shirt that was, you know, kind of like it wasn't a half
shirt by any means, but itwas Yeah, that's a style, right,
Yeah, a little bit of Skywould know. Well I wouldn't know,
but I see it on my daughterand her friends who are about this.
You were a part of the Bobbogirls. When Sky leaves here,
she dresses like your address. Shehas super bag paths, she takes.

Yeah, she puts her hair out, grabs bubba. Come on, bitches,
let let's go. We're going toBrandy Mooreville whatever that was called.
The old guy that lives with usis driving us. God, everybody cigarettes,
Yeah, shut up, none ofthis is true, right. Uh
so they she dressed appropriate with itwas like a day date type of casual

keel you, that's what she decidedto rock. And so they were getting
meet up and of course both momswere driving them there. Yeah, and
uh, there was a lot ofconversation of you know, who should get
there first and things like that.Obviously the boy gets there first, and
so there was a lot of conversationgoing back and forth. Well, then

if you're going to get there thistime, then I'll make sure to get
Taylor there at this time. Andthat's what like the moms really they got.
They got too involved a little much. So like just let the kids
do it. But I was whenI was your daughter's age. I went
on, I had a girlfriend andlike I was just I wouldn't text ship,
we would. I called her andsaid, hey, I will meet

I'll meet you at this thing andwent two way next town. No I
didn't. The next tows came outa couple of years later and my parents
and my parents were, let meget I have a cell phone. I
had my first girlfriend, a loser. I mean, it was like two
thousand and one. No hold,anybody, it's crazy, have to call

the house. So the mom's arrangedhim to get there first. Yes,
they thought that was the move.Okay, yes, yes, yeah,
And so they did the drop offand then the two moms went and had
lunch together. Different spot, yes, okay, oh yeah, because I
even said, I do not goto the same restaurant. Ok I don't
care if you're in fifteen booths away. Do not let them be by themselves,

because if you're at the same restaurant, that's not a date. That's
weird. Yeah, you know you'reyou're like hanging over him. I cut
the court right, let's go,let them go. I appreciate you saying
I'm not doing that. Now,what is the restaurant level? Is it
long sleeve? Button up? Okay, good, it's a Mexican restaurant.
I mean it's okay, I thoughtit was. Now it wasn't quite sombreros,

but you know it was the serverthough, is there a surfer?
Okay, the taker shop. It'sa Mexican yeah, okay, well,
I mean the boo I got allfancied up, and he took me to
like that. You're still not goingto let that. I thought we were
going like a Mexican restaurant, likeit didn't have to be the nicest Mexican
restaurant. But I was rest Ifyou were that offended, why did you
marry him? I don't know.Riding was on the wall. Really,

I'm not good with confrontation, youguys. So some day I'll t twenty
five years later, some day I'lllet him know. So they picked this
restaurant. They're gonna go to thisrestaurant, and you know, I come
and find out all the details afterwards. So Taylor gets home, you know,
I ask her everything cool, everythingcool? Losing nice to you,
that's what all I care about.Total. He said yes, And they

said at a great time. Sothe real question is who paid. Because
I beforehand told Taylor, I'm gonnagive you money because you're going to offer,
You're gonna make the offline guy thatyou know listen parent when the when
the bill comes, you know,if he reaches for it, you can

(07:34):
say, do you you know,can I give you half or whatever and
see what happens. Okay, buthe asked you out. So traditionally the
boy will pay, but you're stillgonna make it. I got to talk
to this case. It on acoffee date. I kind of agree,
Like I kind of thought it wasa wild move to go Mexican restaurant on

the first date. He's clearly nervous. I'll get in there. Well,
both their first dates, so theydon't know what they're doing. Coffee Dad
actually would have made way more sense. It is what it is. And
so she said he offered to pay. She said, you know, do
you you want some money? Andhe said no, no, no,
I got it. Apropriate exchange.I really appreciate your daughter offering. Yeah,

that's huge. It goes a longway in my book. Keep her,
I would think so. But ishe's starting off on the wrong foot
by covering it thor yeah, becausenow you're extending a terrible expectation. But
I know, I know, uhmy boy Eddie will get in there and
let her and let his daughter knowthat. You know, he's not gonna
cover every time. First guess whatwhat? The date continued. That's such

a wonderful time. But after theafter dinner, yeah you would what was
lunch? Lunch? Sorry, afterthe lunch, they're still enjoying each other's
company. They don't want to youknow, this is this is the risk.
You don't want this, you can't. I hate it when I hear
about dates going on for hours.I'm like, what are you doing?
Let him miss you? Maybe winan hour? Oh my god. So

they decide, you know what,it's just down the street here a little
ice cream shop, let's call icecream? Whoa this is? Well,
it's a heavy lunch. Now,okay, I'm gonna get I mean,
you had a full lunch. Nowyou're gonna have ice cream. Have no
room for dinner, and you're gonnaget. Maybe you have a heartburn going
on. I don't know. That'swhat I'm saying. They're very young.

(09:33):
Just try to eat an ice creamat three in the afternoon. It's going
to affect you the rest of theday. Well he did that. The
lunch they decide they're going to walkdown to the ice cream parlor. Parlor.
Wow, and my daughter treated shesaid, you took care of lunch
me by the ice He needs tomarry this girl. That's my daughter.

(09:54):
It's a little weird and she's noteven fifteen. It's a little much.
Yeah, but I thought that wasgood. That's a perfect move, Taylor.
And I didn't tell her to dothat. That was on her own.
That was her decision. Yeah,oh wow, because I didn't know
they were going to ice cream too. Oh yeah, that's a lot.
Now, how is she when youare asking questions? She like, Dad,
like embarrassed or is she likes likethat? Well one of our kids.

Like she I could tell was slightlyembarrassed and slightly kind of uncomfortable,
but also giddy because I mean,it was her first day, so she
was okay, you know, Imean she was telling me about it,
so but I could tell she sortof wanted the conversation to be over because
then, you know, of courseI was I was being dad, you

know, kind of like you know, you know that was it right?
Well, I still am just makingsure everything and making sure everybody was being
cool. Emily, And how youare saying, uh so a second that
I didn't ask. I don't reallywant to know yet. I'm assuming if

I mean, if it went,if it went ice cream and she had
a good time, cold hands onthe walk from the restaurant to the ice
cream parlor. Because my wife andthe other mom were having they decided to
do their their lunch across the street, so they still had eyes a couple
of psychos, and so my wifedid let me know when they were walking

to the ice cream parlor. Nohandled yet. Yeah, it's first date,
no touching, no, So we'llsee how it goes. But so
far, so good.
