Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, we were talking about this a little bit on
Friday of how Sky was going to go see and
she kept calling it my daughter's performance.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Play.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
But she's not in the play. She No, she's not.
She's part of the crew.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
What does that mean?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
She's part of the play.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Does she have a character?
Speaker 3 (00:22):
She is a character?
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Does she have a character's? Yes or no question?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Can you please?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
I mean does she have a character? Is there a
character written for her in the play?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Well?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
She was given.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
She was direction, so annoying.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Okay, so yes, she's part of the crew, you know,
of the back ground crew of like you know that's
going to move pieces around.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
A cameraman is a part of a TV.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Wouldn't have part of production, not wouldn't happen.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
But we're talking about the cast what we were talking about.
So the gy went to the performance on Friday and
you would think, oh, okay, well that was nice of
you to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
She's not done. We ain't done yet. It's time for
the one podcast over yet completely uncensored and unacting, filtered
except for that part the show's after show starts.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Now, Yeah, there was big talking here on Friday about
this performance that your daughter is doing.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
And it was really fucked up when we were all
at october Fest on Saturday night and none of you
asked how the performance went.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
So I thought that.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Thoman very nice as friends, she moved some.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
How it went what do you mean did she.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Have any lines that she was practicing with you?
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Well?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
No, no, she's not in the play.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
So she's not a character in the play.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Well, I mean a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
What does that mean a little bit?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's it's I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
So it's okay being part of the crew.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
Yeah, any son is part of the crew. He's not
over here trying to defend that he's in the play.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
No star.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Yeah, it's like your kid.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
He actually should be though he's.
Speaker 6 (02:19):
It's like if your kid was on the baseball team.
But he wasn't really on the baseball team. He was
like the assistant coach. You're like, you're not gonna tell you,
but he's on the team.
Speaker 7 (02:27):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
You're gonna be like, yeah, he's the equipment guy. He's
not on the team. He's the equipment guy. It's cool.
He's the equipment guy. You know, he helps people out.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
So it's kind of weird this play.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
First of all, kind of weird.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well, first of all, it's like very dark. It's called
the Crucible.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I don't know, okad that in high school?
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Oh yeah, I wasn't familiar that before. No, I'd like
heard of it, but I hadn't seen it. I hadn't
read it, like, so all I heard was the name,
and I knew it was about like the Salem witch
Trials or something adjacent to that. Right, So it's kind
of this this dark, clearly subject matter.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
One guy calls a gallop bitch at one point in
the thing.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I'm like, where are in a high school play?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
It slaps her.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
And calls her a bitch, and I'm like, okay, that's
I mean, no one's ever asking for So I thought that.
Speaker 7 (03:19):
That did you cutch your pearls when you heard it?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Seriously? I did?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I was like, holy ship, that just happened. So anyway,
so wild.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
But it's very different because like it's not the typical
setup where it's like just the stage that's elevated and
then the regular audience and then you got the curtain
in the back. It was like the seating was actually
on the stage and it was something they called in
the round.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
So ba, I'm sure, very similar, and.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
The guitar tech wasn't part of the show. I'll tell
you that right now, technically, thank you.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
And so the only reason I'm saying my daughter kind
of had a part, even though I know you know
she wasn't. There's not a name in the script for her,
is because the people who were involved with uh, the
you know, set design and moving the set pieces around,
they all had to wear costumes because there was no
curtain that closed, so they all had to wear these
cloaks and were instructed to walk very ominously. So we
(04:29):
practice our ominous walk for a while. And so she
actually like was gliding very spookily around the stage, and
the lights were still kind of up so so you
could see her. One time I was taking pictures of
someone else that actually happened there was another girl around
(04:51):
the same high but I so most of the time
I could tell you.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
You tell her afterwards, oh you did such a good job,
even though you don't know which one she.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Is most of them. Most of the time I knew
which one she was.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
There was a little confusion here or there, but of
course I told her she did an amazing job. She's
an important part of the team. Yeah, because well because
she was a little bummed because you know, they didn't
get to take a bow with the rest of the
cast the show and then the rest.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
Of the cast.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Yes, it's so she's very shy, but if she's like
part of a group, like she'd never want to stand
up there by herself and take up No, hell no,
that's like a nightmare to her.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
But to be part of the group, if she could
stand in the.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
Back row and take a bow, that would mean something
to her.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Super She said something to the teacher that that the
crew too, I'm surprised you haven't written that email.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Well, it turns out that the crew does get to
bow for the final perform final one they're doing for
different performances of this two hour and fifteen minutes.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Holy high School play.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Yeah, yeah, I'd rather be crucified.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
The u director award everyone on the way in, like
literally he told every parent he's like, the first act
is an hour and fifteen minutes, so just make sure
you're prepared when the.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
When the teacher said that, did you hear one random dad?
Go oh fuck?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
This.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
One of the big discussions that was happening was yes,
does Sky bring flowers for her daughter, you know, like
you do when you perform. You know, if you're a performer, yeah,
you get the flowers. Maybe if you perform, some of
the parents will do that now, but if you're part
of the set design, I don't. We were trying to
(06:51):
tell you, Sky, that's not a thing, like, I don't
think you bring it.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
To the crew.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Yeah, so that's what you guys said. And I had
been considering it, but I kind of knew it was
a little different because clearly she's not an actress in
the play. But then Emily had made a really nice suggestion.
I thought of some sort of like collectible, like maybe
like an ornament or something reminiscent to remind her that
she was part play. Yeah, Flora started saying, to get
(07:20):
her a baby hammer like the kids said, not doing
Fisher nail gun. No, we're not doing any of that.
So I didn't get anything because we went on Friday like.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
And so, but no bow.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
And no love from mom.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
I mean I would have even got something.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Well, here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
So I didn't bring anything because I figured, okay, flowers
would be silly. None of the kids doing you know,
the sets are going to get flowers.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
That's for the actors. And plus I.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Knew that there more performance is coming, so I thought
i'd get the you know, memorabilia trinket for the final performance.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
But once you go to the one show, you're done.
So that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Once she found out that she gets to bow in
the final performance, she really wanted us to go see again. No,
how are we going to get photos of video of
bowing in the back road dress?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
It about.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Again of the Crucible of the high school, the Crucible.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
You're not going to make it.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
We're both going.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
No way gets already purchased Friday night.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
I'm not making him?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Is he making?
Speaker 5 (08:49):
We are?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
We are give the option? No, what do you mean? No,
then you're not? Then you're making them?
Speaker 5 (08:54):
No, that's we're a team. We're parents. We're both equally parents.
This is both equally our daughter. So we will both be.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Oh god, this is awful.
Speaker 8 (09:02):
What about going the last ten minutes so that you're
there the That's what I would do.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
I would want to go.
Speaker 8 (09:10):
I probably wouldn't drag Robert because whatever I don't didn't know,
but no, because he didn't know me anyway, But I'd
show up less ten and just stand in the back
with whatever you want to give her or whatever and
take the bow picture.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
But Emily, the seats are on the stage, so you
can't just stand in the back. There's no standing in
the back, Like you can't come and go during the play.
Otherwise you're walking through the state.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I just so, I don't get him, man.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
So the plan the plan then was, okay, we will
do the trinket for the final performance.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
We will see the bow. All this and that.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Okay, you guys convinced me flowers not appropriate. After the performance,
she's buttied up with one gal. They like our team
to a girl whatever to move things together.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
The word gal, I do.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
That's how I like describe it.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
All women are gallous rather than I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I don't know why you guys and guys are dudes,
So true.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Thanks bro.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
A lot of the stuff they're moving are like big
benches and tables and stuff, so they're like paired up.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
Right.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
She's not as weak as you are.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Oh not at all?
Speaker 5 (10:15):
No, No, I'm like I'm a weird level of weakness. Yes,
especially my hands. No, yes, yes, so true. It's like
mister glass and then the other guys.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
You know we like each other out.
Speaker 7 (10:29):
I probably would have been good set designer moving things around.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, you don't even need a hammer, punch the nails in.
You could have.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
I couldn't. Could you imagine if Emily was a set designer,
the over the topness her mom would have done to overcompensate.
She would have had like six bouquets.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Emily would have cried, she would have been It would
have been insane over a compensation.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
A thousand dollars dress.
Speaker 7 (10:54):
Yea thousand dollars about it?
Speaker 2 (11:01):
I heard about it.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
You're talking about her.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Mom's over clapping. I can fucking one.
Speaker 7 (11:14):
She's very proud of me everything I do in life.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Your mom would show up and like cheer her on
for beating up trolls. Like your mom would just always
cheer you on.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Ya.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
Wow, you really beat up that troll, Emily, that troll Emma.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
All right, So I felt really good about my no
flower decision. I I kind of told myself, I'm glad
the crew mentioned it. Blah, Well, I guess.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Who got flowers?
Speaker 5 (11:46):
Pretty much all the other kids who did, and the
crew my daughter the only one who did not get something.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
This is the problem.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
What is these parents. I don't get it. Man.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
You know, when you go into a business like radio,
you know who doesn't get a lot of pats on
the back, People just starting out in the production people,
the board ops.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
That's just the way it is.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Sorry, Jamie, Hey, we were all there. We get it.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
That's just the way that it is.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
What are these fucking kids gonna do when they go
into real jobs and they're not immediately padded.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
On the back with flowers? They're going to lose their minds.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
They're gonna cry and not be able to handle it.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
Holy fuck, it's just crazy.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Man, feel bad, did you?
Speaker 5 (12:29):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (12:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
No?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
And a tiny bit mad at you guys for talking
to me, for talking me out of the flowers.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Psychopaths would do that.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Still stand by that.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
So this Friday there will be flower, the.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Return, the return.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
You're not gonna do flowers?
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Well, it's gonna be one or the other. Yeah, don't
like it.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
Maybe a single flower and then and then me and
the boo sitting there for another two and a half.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
There's no way I would on a Friday laugh.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
In my wife's face if she said.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
You have to go back for her amazing work.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
She didn't do a performance.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
But I said for her amazing work. I didn't say
for her performance.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Take her out to dinner.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
That's a great idea. What I mean, what time does
it end?
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Like, dude, we don't get out of there till close
to ten o'clock.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Oh, oh my god, that's I would find a heart attack.
