Speaker 1 (00:01):
Well, here we go again.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I've run into a situation I wasn't sure how to
handle it, and it got me thinking, well, what are
the rest of the show? What would they do if
you were in this situation? How would you guys have
handled this? So this was a situation that popped up
with my landscaper and I didn't know how to pay him.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
We ain't done yet, it's time for the one podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Find yet completely uncensored and unacting filtered except for that part.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
The party.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
The show's after show starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
So yeah, this got uncomfortable really fast and afterwards again,
I'll go through this in life just because I'm around
you guys all the time, of like, how would each
of you have handled this kind of a situation every
time it happens, And I'm like, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Am I in the right here? Am I in the wrong?
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Do other people have that same thought about their co workers?
You know, like a group of accountants that work in
an office together, do they have that same No, it's
just because we're so close kind of stuff. We talk
about shareware shit. Okay, So this isn't a common thought
of co workers.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
It might be a like a thing with friends. Okay,
you know, I think you can have a group of
friends where you go. I wonder how so and so
would deal with that's a possibility. Co workers, probably not.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Are weird dynamic?

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah? Okay, definitely, yeah, definitely, Okay. The way we think
about things very different. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Ok So I live out in Alcohola. I live on
a property that's about an acre and a half and
it's a lot of crap. I mean, like, we have
so much landscaping that there's no way I'm fucking dealing
with that ship. And so it is well worth my
money to pay to have landscapers come out and deal

(01:52):
with that shit. So I don't have to very very
happy to make that decision a long time ago as
soon as we moved to our house.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
And you've got so many like it's so landscaped, like
there's little different kinds of flowers.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I got all kinds of crap. I actually don't
have that much lawn, weird. I got a tiny little
lawn if that's all it was, I'd mow that myself.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
No I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
But and then and then the rest of the stuff whatever.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
But it's a lot.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
There's a lot of bushes that you got to trim up,
and all kinds of different things.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's just crazy now what happened to.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Because when you first moved into this house, you were
really excited about the fruit trees. You were bringing us
produce all the time. You were great.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Here's the thing, sky.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
That was during COVID and we if you recall, everybody
was gardening.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yes, yes, and so I.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Had a lot of time on my hands to go
out there and pick fruit and bring it in and
it was great.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
We had a good two three year run.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Yes, it was.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
You you start doing other things and I don't have
the time nor the patience to go out and pick
fruit anymore.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
You're not excited to do it anymore.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
I think you found it more fun in the beginning.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, it was actually therapy for me. You out there
and I really enjoyed it. And for probably about two
years now, I'd rather sit in here and watch TV.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I'd rather go do whatever again. You know, I just
I don't. I don't have to drive anymore. Do you
ever picking fruit?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
I'm just saying I feel the same way.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
I always rather choose.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
We've seen your yard. We know you don't do anything.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
So I get, what guy is that? I mean, my
orange trees are full right now, My uh mandarin oranges
are full right now? Lemons start picking up ill go
I stand. I mean again that that would take time effort,
which I don't start picking.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
You love giving your kids chores and you know, make
them do them do it?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Don't know how to do it?

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
What do they know about picking fruit? I disagree?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Would all right, I'll maybe get out there.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
You know, I heard you noea and you like lemons,
Like my god, there is there is a lot to do.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
The only way that the fruit is getting picked is
by my landscapers right now. I told him you could
take a bag every time you come out.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
So so I pay for landscapers. They come out every
other week. Every other week they come out, they you know,
do a great job. Work blah blah blah blah whatever. Well,
the main guy has you who owns kind of the company.
He hasn't been out to my place in a really
long time. He always has two guys. They come out,
they work and then they you know whatever, and I

(04:50):
haven't seen. Oh, I'm not saying nothing.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
I'm not saying nothing.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
So I haven't seen the main guy in forever, but
he's the guy I communicate with. He's the guy that,
you know whatever that I pay all that stuff. And
so I've recently been having these different irrigation issues, were
like pipes bursting and all these different things that are
that are going on in our in my irrigation system.
And so finally I was just like, this isn't right,

(05:17):
Like I know there's stuff broken here, stuff broken here.
The timer for this one's way too long or this
one's way too short, like this is a nightmare. And
so I finally said, listen, dude, can you come out
here and take a look at the irrigation and fix
what needs to be fixed and whatever, because I feel
like that's all part of the landscaping. Plus, your guys
are the guys that are breaking the pipes, you know,

(05:38):
when they're out there doing the different crap.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh I've seen it. I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Oh Okay, So I figured this is all part of it.
And then I have my buddy plumber He said, yeah,
irrigation should be part of your landscaping package. And so
him saying that made me like a light bulb off
from my head of like, all right, well, I'm gonna
have him come out here and take a look at whatever.
It should be all part of it, it should be all
included whatever. And so he said, yeah, no problem. He

(06:03):
calls me mister Eddie, which I really like, I'll be
out there. Yeah, and said okay, cool. So he shows
up yesterday on a Sunday. Oh wow, listen, need to
be done. That was his free day. So he comes
out and he's there for a long time. He was
there for at least five hours, you know, going and

(06:24):
he literally he did a fantastic job. He literally went
to every station, reset all the timers, fix the pipes
that need to be broken, turn them all on and off,
to make sure what was working, what wasn't working, fixed everything.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Fantastic job.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Now in my head, I have my plumber guy telling
me it should all be included, you know, the irrigation
and it's his crew that they're breaking the pipes and
stuff like that, like you shouldn't have to pay him extra,
like it should all be included. But then I'm thinking
to myself, dude's out there five hours, he's busting his ass.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
No, it's just him, just him.

Speaker 6 (06:57):
Why did he trouble anybody else.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I don't know he I mean, it's just I don't know,
and he probably didn't know the extent of the issues
and things like that. And so he was out there
five hours busting his ass, did a great job, fixed
it all up.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Now we're good to go.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
So I have the thought, what do I pay him?
Five hours of work? He did have to go at
one point to home depot to pick up parts for
four things.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
He gave me the receipt of that.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
It was like forty bucks worth of just whatever, and
so I'm going to include that as well. So now
I'm thinking, Okay, five hours of work plus parts labor,
what do I pay this guy?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Do I even need to pay him? Oh?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
And then I did. So I ended up giving him
amount of money, and he looked like disappointed, and I
kind of was like, first of all, I thought, originally
I was gonna pay him something, and then he was
there even longer. So then I upped it even more,
and I thought to myself, Wow, I'm being so cool,
I'm being so general here about giving him money. I

(08:00):
felt like good about myself that he's gonna be like,
oh mister ready, no, no, no, no, and I was like, no,
please take it, take it, and none of that happened.
He was just kind of like, oh, okay, thanks, and
I was like, oh, I feel like.

Speaker 6 (08:13):
Shit in my eyes. Clearly it's a part of what
his job is, unless he were to say, oh, you
owe me this much for this much work, right, But
he didn't say that. No, so then clearly anything you
give him is extra.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Well, and he kind of he was like, yes, your
old day and give me one of those like Gil Tripp.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
But again, though, if he would have said, hey, so
I did this, this, and this, it's gonna cost you,
you know, two hundred bucks or whatever, then okay, that
makes sense. But to not say any of those means
it's included in what he's doing.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
It was tricky because there was no discussion or after it,
because like, this is what it's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (08:45):
But that even though that being said, you would still
think he has an hourly rate.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I don't know, because I mean, we have a set
price that I pay every other week. You know of
what it is and all that stuff. So I have
no idea. I have no idea what's going on. I
don't know what I did was right or wrong.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
I would think that. I would think that if he
had intended on charging you for this outside of what
you normally pay him, what he would have done because
what this happened like a long time ago. But they'll
do like a walk through right first, to see what's broken,
what actually needs to be done, and then you're back
and go, hey, I'm going to charge it this much.
Is that cool? And then that would be Then then
you know how.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
Much to pay him.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
But because he didn't do that ahead of time, that's
when I start thinking that Thor's right, like.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
So you wouldn't pay him anything?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
No, I absolutely would.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
But that's what I'm saying, is that I think it
should be included since he didn't do that ahead.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Of time, right, Yeah, so I don't know what to do, huh.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
I probably honestly, I probably would have said, like, so
is this included when you normally do, just to get
his opinion.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Well, again, I was totally fine with giving him money.
Couldn't you bust your ass like that? You deserve money? Yeah,
I don't care. And so I don't think he was
just gonna take oranges as payment. I did consider, but no,
so I no matter what was going to pay for
the parts that he gave me. The yeah, so forty
bucks boom. So I added up. I'm like, okay, he's

(10:04):
there five hours, Like what's a going rate? Twenty bucks
an hour? So I ended up paying him one forty
and I was like that's pretty good. I'm like, you
know something that I thought was going to be included
and we wouldn't really talk about it and anything. It
was like twenty bucks an hour, you know, one hundred
and forty bucks. I was like, this guy's gonna be stoked.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
He wasn't. He was kind of like that's her old day.
But oh and I was.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Like, oh shit, did I really screw this up? So
I'll be thinking, oh god, what do you listen? I know,
Sky's writing in the check for a million dollars. Yeah,
I mean basically she had she has her whole.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, she has a whole.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
It was like bushmazes things, one of those Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
This is ridiculous. Sky is going to say the bush
raises in your pants.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Okay, can shut up. That's just what my husband call. Hey,
so question are we just talking about like they messed
up sprinkler heads, like you know, the things that stick
out or are these pipes that are actually under the
ground that have burst underground.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Well both really okay? So both yeah, okay, but I
can some of them. I can't prove that they jacked
him up, but I've seen them over in that area
doing stuff and I'm like, yeah, yes, it's they.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
It's prettyular.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
They're sitting there with a shovel.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Fuck mister Eddie.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
Really well, because it's pretty common for like the heads,
the sprinkler heads to get jacked up. But the stuff
underground is the stuff where I'm like, oh, that's you know,
is that their responsibility.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
If he didn't tell you how much that you should
pay him, then if you gave him any money, that's
a tip on what he's already making. So I think
one hundred and forty dollars is.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
More than good.

Speaker 6 (11:52):
I probably give him fifty fifty.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
So forty to cover the parts of.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Okay, I would have gave be hundred. Oh my god,
bucks book, there you go, thank you.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
So that's what I kind of originally going to give.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
He didn't tell me how much it's going to cost.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
He broke the pipes, but he didn't his crew did.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
But doesn't sound like all of them, Okay, because if
we're have broken but.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
It's up to you, as a guy that runs a business,
tell me how much this is going to cost.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Yeah, yeah, I don't disagree with that, to walk over
and go, you know, we're going to cover the stuff
that my guys did, but this one' Undergund's gon to
take a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
So that's gonna cost you this much when when when
the guys barely speaks English, it's a little tough to
come up with these amazing arguments that you're coming up with.
So you know it's broken English.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
He's going to a quote this is not a business.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
He'd write it on a Napkins no minute.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
There's none, none of that and the worst Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
You know, it is what it is. So my original
thought was I'll give him a hondo, they'll take whatever.
But then he was there even longer than I thought,
So I was like, you know, what about twenty books
an hour?

Speaker 6 (12:57):
They could have been taken around text and who knows
literally watching.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I think we needed.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
I think one forty is perfect. I probably would have done.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
What a nice ship I would have, but I think that.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's a good way.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
Five hours. You just said the same thing one hundred. Yeah, Sky,
it's so tough a million dollars because.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
If you were to call out a company that's just
you know, sprinkler people, that's going to cost done, like
a lot of money to get that done. I don't
believe all the breaks are his fault. So he's fixing
things that aren't his fault. Because you told us last
week that the pipe guy said, you know, it looks

(13:41):
like the system wasn't yeah, the plumber that the system
wasn't put together right. Here's another up charge, the fact
that he's the head of the company, not just a.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
Work let's down, like like Zuckerberg work on his computer.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
But there's a difference between the guy who pays the
bills and the guy who just works.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
I don't know if this is this even a registered LLC.
Can we chill out?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
I can't speak on that.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
And then on top of it, it's a Sunday, So
what the.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Fuck does this Sunday have to do with any Sunday Sunday?

Speaker 6 (14:17):
Okay, well, landscapers not work on Sundays. Definitely. Weekends are
big days for landscapers. Saturday and Sundays.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Really, Yeah, my neighbor has a guy out every Sunday morning.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
Yeah, Saturday. I feel like Saturdays and Sundays would be
great days for landscapers.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Oh so they work seven days a week, they had appointments.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
I mean, I've seen landscapers work all the time. Yeah,
I used to.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I want I know you guys, guy, that's Mexican's work hard.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
Okay, I actually did a couple. I did about six
months as a landscaper at one point, high school job.
You that's right, that's right, somebody. I'm not sure at all.
I was digging ditches for sprinkler systems. So how does
that taste? Emily?

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Clearly you should have called or over.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Sprinklers one hundred and forty bucks.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
So if this is me, based on all of the
things I've covered, I'm going two hundred and forty.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Dollars, so an extra two hundred bucks.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
So I'm paying you two hundred bucks and I'm covering parts.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
Yeah, how does it make you feel?

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Well?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
You know, I also know that this one money doesn't
mean anything turns well.

Speaker 6 (15:28):
It doesn't.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I just know that's that's five hours, nothing else.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
At all. I'm not calling ice on you.
