Everybody's looking great.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Kyle.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
We have Whiteboard Wednesday today. I know you don't know
the questions in advance. One of them that hits the
cutting room floor, so I can tell you what it is.
Favorite pair of NFL brothers. We also have some of
those coming out later in the show as well, but
we're not that's not one of the whiteboards, so like, I'd.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Love to know your answer.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Oh, that's obviously.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
The Grammatica is Martine Automatic and Grammatica and Bill Grammatica.
You remember them, My great guys, the kicking Grammatica family.
We will get into that plus many other things. There's
a massive, massive game tonight on Thursday night. Football Massive
Tomorrow night we're gonna talk about, right, Mike, Tomorrow night.
I'm just teasing ahead of time. Mike kept looking at
me and being like, are you doing a bit?
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Here?
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Are you doing a bit?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
My eyes are, my mind is intention Otherwise I'm going
up to Radio City Music Hall.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
After this hike. They're doing a whole Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Rams at Travagans with the day before at Radio City.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
We'll do it all. But that Good Morning Football not
go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
That'd be Thursday.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by Old.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Trapper, Jamie NNTI, Mike Kei, and Kyle on GMFB today.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Mike g just had the classic moment with Kyle.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Which is you have to do like a Kyle face
scan sometimes, which is read the room, Mike Herofolo, and
the pressure of trying to interpret whether or not Kyle
is being serious, sarcastic, playing a bit, or legitimately confused.
Where did you fall on the sliding scale of when
he just thought it was Thursday?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Oh, I was.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Convinced it was Thursday there for a second, mostly because
I can't keep the days straight. So if he was
ever gonna do something, that'd be like, am I right?
Speaker 7 (02:10):
Are you wrong?
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Am I playing? Am I real? That was it?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Jamie's entire tea up was that it's whiteboard Wednesday, and
I immediately went into Thursday.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
I don't know. This is planet Earth allegedly, that's it.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
And it's only going to get.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
More confusing in the next two weeks or so because
we got NFL games on Saturday, this weekend, Sunday, Thursday Monday,
next week Thursday Saturday. It is just top seat turvy
and we love it. But like we said, or as
Kyle mentioned, in just over twenty four hours from now,
the Rams and the Seahawks play, and they'll kick off
Week sixteen. It's the Thursday night matchup, and it's the
gift that keeps on.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Giving because the last time the Beast two.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Teams met was in week eleven, where La eked out
a twenty one nineteen victory over here at SOFI Stadium.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Now, this thing is going down in Seattle. On Thursday night.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Sam Darnold struggled in this one, throwing four picks in
the inevitable stat check. Well, I guess only three of
them were his fault actually, And yesterday he spoke to
the media about what needs to go.
Speaker 8 (03:03):
Right this I'm around playing these guys last time, obviously,
wasn't my best effort. You know, I feel like as
an offense, we just got to continue to do what
we've been we've been practicing. You know, we can always
be harder on ourselves right of being you know, glued
into the details and then starting fast. And that's the
(03:24):
kind of mindset you want. You always want to you
want to chase you know it's cliche, but you want
to chase greatness. You want to chase being the best
offense in the league. And you know when it when
it comes down to it, you know, we haven't been
starting as fast as we'd like, so that's just another
edge for us to chase.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I love how uncomfortable Sam Donald was quoting something as
generica is you want to chase grace. It's okay, Sam
if you believe in that, but you have to go
about it in your own individual way. So Mantai, I
asked you this, knowing what we know of Sam Donald
this season, what he did against the Rams or did
not do the last time out, what does Sam Donald
have to do to change the narrative in this game.
Speaker 9 (04:00):
Well, I think Sam Donald's going to need a lot
of help from his offensive coordinator, Clint Kubiak because I
think what you have to understand and this wasn't just
something that happened against the Rams the last time. This
has been a narrative about Sam Donald in games where
he is.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Pressured a lot.
Speaker 9 (04:15):
This happened two years ago with the Minnesota Vikings. When
they pressured him is take the ball out of his hands.
Matter of fact, take the game out of his head.
I think a lot of the fear that comes with
certain situations comes with the anticipation of what could happen.
Clint could have a big responsibility in taking that philemma
out of Sam Donald's hands. So for me, it's don't
let him drop back pass like this, run the ball, run.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
The ball, play action pass.
Speaker 9 (04:39):
Get a little bit, I would say, just get a
little exotic in your run game. Have some some jet
sweeps here there, but don't don't don't put Sam Donald
in a position where he has to analyze defenses.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Maybe later in the game get to that, but hand
it off to Kenneth Walker, handed off to Zach.
Speaker 9 (04:57):
Charbonnay, and then do with Clint Kubiak. But what that
coas offense does, and that's run the ball, play action pass.
I think if they're able to really lean into that
mic ge. That's going to make Sam Donald kind of
settle in this game. The last thing you want to
do after the last performance is put him in a
situation where it makes him remember what happened last time.
(05:18):
Just hand the ball off, play action pass, make it
easy for your quarterback to deliver.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
Yeah, ideally your running the football and that opens up
a whole lot of things.
Speaker 7 (05:25):
That makes your quarterback comfortable.
Speaker 6 (05:27):
It also makes the defense uncomfortable, which the Rams were,
especially early in the game, extremely comfortable going up against
Sam Donald. And there were a couple of those interceptions
where he was just dead staring his guy down. So
if I'm Sam Donald, I'm going to this game, I've
got to be looking off. I've got to be starting here,
I've got to be going there. We talked about this
(05:47):
a lot in the NFL and guys that are coming
in via the draft process, can they do this? Can
they manipulate Because the combination of him staring down a
guy and pressure in his face falling back just led
to these critical mistakes, and this.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
Game wound up being tight with.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
All these interceptions and all these mistakes. Yeah, don't leave
your feet either too, Sam, I'd recommend that as well.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Yea.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
With all that happening negatively, this still was a game
that the Seahawks had a chance to win. So I
just minimize those mistakes, and you gotta feeling.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Good about this, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
It's two great teams in a great matchup. The first, second,
and third most interesting things about this game to mirror
Sam Donald.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
So interesting because last.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Year Sam Donald wins fourteen games and Justin Jefferson has
fifteen hundred yards receiving. This year, Sam Donald's gonna win
maybe fourteen thirteen games and JSN is gonna have eighteen
hundred yards receiving.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
And yet we're still saying, can Sam Donald win a
big game? Can we trust Sam Donald?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
This is a veteran, a high draft pick who is
putting skins on the wall all week every season. Now
it's a trusted thing, and yet it's not trusted at all.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
He doesn't have the trust.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Of the media, the general public, Evenhawks fans. Because Matthew
Stafford throws four picks tomorrow night, it's like, oh, that
was a weird knight for Stafford. Oh well, Stafford's a
mad guy. Sam Donald throws four picks. It's like I
wouldn't see up doing a quarterback next year. There's such
a mistrust for him because for all this longing that
some of the Vikings have had this year about all
(07:22):
maybe Donald should have stayed. His last two games as
a Minnesota Viking were bad. They left a lot to
be desired. And it wasn't just that they weren't wins.
And it wasn't just the stats weren't good. His pulse
was bouncing, he was floating passes. He looked tentative, he
looked rattled. It was everything you don't want to look.
So fast forward to this year. The wins are there,
(07:42):
the stats are there. Sam Donte's like a great guy.
There is still a tattoo of mistrust on him about
he is a great guy. We don't know if he
is a guy. We know the guys out there in
the NFC, all of them from Stafford's Jared Goff is
a guy. I don't know if Sam Donald is a
guy yet. Meaning all right, Sam, it's a huge game
(08:02):
in cold weather. You're down five with a minute and
a half left and one time out.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Are you going to win the game for US? I
don't know. You don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
I don't know if Sam Donald knows. That's why this
is fascinating. I'm hoping he is. I'm rooting for him,
but he still has forgive me the stink on him
of someone who really good quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
As long as you're cruising through it's.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Week nine yet home against whoever, big game, big spot.
Not sure yet he really has it and this is
one of those spots. It's one of the biggest spots
of his career from monight.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
It's a great point, Kyle.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
There's an article in the Athletic right now and the
question of the headline says, is Sam Donald led Seahawks
team really going to win a Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Or be in a Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
And it's so heavy on the condescending tone that you
reference the name Sam Donald instead, Mance, I ask you
this when there is a great defense, and this is
so triggering, specifically for Seattle because this happened to them
not less than twenty years ago. Great defense, quarterback play
is solid enough to get you there and win.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
A Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Is it triggering to play on a.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Defense that's as great as the Seahawks have it right
now and say stop.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Paying attention or quarterback.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
He's doing a great job, but we are what this
thing is about.
Speaker 9 (09:07):
Yeah, I think it was the best after that game
when Ernest Jones came out and to the defense of
his quarterback, Sam Donald.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
I do think it was one.
Speaker 9 (09:15):
Of those clickbait stuff where itsus Sam Donald led. And
I think this has a lot to do with the
coaching staff and identity of that team. You're not an
offensive power team. You're a defensive power team that has
a really good offense that can get the job done.
You have a special wide receiver, but you're predicated on
the run game.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
And you talked about that Seattle Seahawks defense.
Speaker 9 (09:35):
That had the Legion of Boom and all of that stuff, right,
I don't remember during that time where they talked about
Russell Wilson led Seattle Seahawks team.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
When you talked about the Seahawks.
Speaker 9 (09:45):
Team back then, I think you talked about Marshawn Lynch
on the offensive side before you talked about Russell Wilson.
It was built on the run, but it was held
down by that defense. It was don't lose the game
because your defense is going to keep you in this game.
And that's what's something that I think to Mike Geeves
pointed up about what the defense was able to do,
because no matter what Sam Donald did or did it
(10:06):
do the last time they faced the Rams, it was
still a close game.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
And that's credit to your defense. And so that's KB.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
It's lean on the defense, lean on what makes you strong.
And for the Seattle Seahawks in twenty twenty five, it
is reminiscent of the Lob and those times where they
had a very, very dominant defense and a good run game.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Well, they also have the leading receiver in the NFL
who might flip with two thousand yards this season.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
And because of Sam Donald.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
You know, it's as we're talking, it's occurring to me,
it's starting to feel a lot like Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
And that's a mixed bag of things. Kirk Cousins for years.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Was Wow, he can really chuck it, and he just
put up huge numbers in some game in the regular season,
and then we know the story in prime time and
followed him around in Monday Night Football, and he was
a good statistical player and a funny character, but a
guy that you had trouble trusting in big spots.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
We opened the show talking about.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Sam Donald in this huge game for an eleven and
three team that's the top three team in the NFL.
Man Titeo quote, don't put Sam Donald in positions res
to analyze defenses. Wow, analyze defenses, that's what he's supposed
to do getting off the bus. That's not exactly a
trigonometry when it comes to NFL quarterbacks. But mantay, you
spoke from the hearts there. Don't put them in a
(11:15):
position where we have to analyze defenses. That's not good
for a team trying to win the NFC this year.
And I think that's where we're at with Donald. He
really really could use a show piece game in a
big spot, and tomorrow night he gets a chance tell
us what you got.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
You're also right in the thick of your career, the
prime of your career, because the early part of your
career was kind of bouncing around teams that didn't know
how to put you in a position to succeed now,
so there's really no honeymoon period. I guess with the
Seattle Seahawks right now, it's got to hit the ground
running right now. It's got to win big games, and
it's got to look good right because it just doesn't
(11:51):
like when he lost that game to the Rams, the
way that he was making some of those throws and
it didn't pass the eye tex as well, and that's
what leads people to go, can this guy win big games?
We don't want Sam Donald to be that guy. Well,
he just melts in key spots. He looked great otherwise
and some of that highlights who were just showing right there.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
He looks phenomenally.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
He looks in control, he looks like a guy that
is a dangerous quarterback. That's the guy we want to
see in a game like this.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Not for nothing, we just spent the last twelve minute
talk about the Seahawks. His Rams team is really good
and you don't think they're licking their chop since the
last time they took on Seattle in week eleven. This
thing is going to be great to watch on Thursday
night again. To be clear, and just from a GMFB table,
hug if you will to the McVay family. We know
Sean McVay and his wife Ronica welcome to a child
this week. They're second a boy. So congratulations to those guys.
(12:36):
Moving on, Ian Rappaport get in here, appreciate you joining
the program here on a Wednesday morning Big Time Showdown.
We just talked about it. Ram Seahawks though. Will the
Rams be missing one of their offensive.
Speaker 10 (12:48):
Stars, Yeah, Davante Adams, I would say, up in the
air to be able to play on Thursday. Deal with
the hamstring injuries. Been dealing with a hamstring injury for
I don't know about the last month or so.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
And if you watch the.
Speaker 10 (12:58):
Game this past week see him pull up and.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Look like he was in a lot of pain, you're
going to.
Speaker 10 (13:03):
See it right here. As Sean McVay have mentioned, did
not look good. I'm sure it did not feel good
for devont Adams. And the estimated practice report did not
practice at all yesterday that said.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
They are not ruling him.
Speaker 10 (13:15):
Out, and I think there is a possibility he's out
there in some former fashion, maybe just red zone something
like that, just to get.
Speaker 11 (13:21):
Him on the field.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
But overall, it does not seem like you're going to
have the Devonte Adams that he has always been. The
Miami Dolphins have a big time decision to make today,
specifically about their quarterback to with Tarkoblis job status is
starting status.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
I think it's fair to say in question.
Speaker 10 (13:38):
Mike McDaniel, the head coach, said all options are on
the table when he was asked on Monday. Generally, when
a head coach says that, it means they are at
least malling a change, and McDaniel.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Has some interesting options.
Speaker 10 (13:50):
Obviously, Zach Wilson has been their backup for all but
one game when yours the seventh round of for Texas,
a lot of potential curly locally the quarterback that I
know fans.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Would like to see remains to be seen.
Speaker 10 (14:02):
Which direction Mike McDaniel will go, likely decision coming today. Meanwhile,
Twoas do more than fifty million dollars fully guaranteed next year.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Different question for a different time.
Speaker 11 (14:12):
But a difficult one.
Speaker 10 (14:14):
And then for the Philadelphia Eagles, who also played earlier
this week, they play on Saturday at a couple of
big additions to their injury point.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Saquon Barkley did not practice on Tuesday.
Speaker 10 (14:23):
It was an estimated report, but they estimated he would
not have practiced deal with a stinger, So obviously that
is one to watch specifically in a short week. And
then Jalen Carter, their star defensive tackle, had a procedure
down on both shoulders to try to improve healing and
get him on the field. Also, would not have practiced
yesterday had they practiced, And we'll see if he was
able to get out of the field and.
Speaker 7 (14:44):
Practice this year.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
So jarring to see the plural on shoulders for Jalen
Carter likes, not just one. The guy's dealing with two,
all of the all the shoulders he had procedures on
rap sheet.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Thanks so much. We'll talk to you in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Listen, during this holiday season, you must be even if
your mind you haven't written it down yet, writing a
wish list about gifts, sore, things you want to happen
at twenty twenty six, or maybe things that you want
to happen in the regular season to finish out twenty
twenty five. This is a theme that we will play
too in Whiteboard.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Wednesday, next segment.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Kyle, not the question, just giving you an idea so
you can start mulling it over.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I'm so excited to hear what the questions are live
on TV like I do every single week. It's going
to be great. We are going to be also be joined.
Oh look the mccordy Twins, No way, they're coming on.
Jason and Devin are coming on the show. This is
a crazy homecoming for Jason.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
We miss them, we love them.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
We're going to talk about all the things, all of
the league and also all kinds of wacky Twin hijinks.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
It's good morning football.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Good morning football.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Get your markers, get your erasers, get you Whiteboard's out.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Time for wetboard Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
First topic, just off the dome right like first time
you're hearing it.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
It's a working idea. Let's go one.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Thing on your wish list that you want to see
happen during the rest of the regular season. Mantai, you
got some wiggle room. You got me sixteen seventeen, eighteen
still to play. So when you consider that, what's one
thing you wish to happen?
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Well, the season of wishing.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
This isn't my best work, but I want the Chargers
to win out.
Speaker 9 (16:23):
And the reason why I want the Chargers to win
out is because on January fourth, they finished their season
with the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
And what a game that would be for possibly.
Speaker 9 (16:31):
Not only the AFC West Championship, but possibly the number
one overall seed in the AFC. That's something that I
want to lock into. There's something about the last game
of the season, guys, and we all know this that
when there are some teams where it's kind of that,
the Hayes and the barn they don't play their starters.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
I want to see fireworks on the last game of
the season. What better way to end it but to
have these two go ahead.
Speaker 9 (16:53):
To head again and then if the Chargers do win,
then they host that.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
So far we can go to games.
Speaker 9 (16:58):
So I want to see the Chargers win out and
have this big game Chargers versus the Broncos January fourth.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Look at what Mike drew, as you said the word fireworks.
I look over my drawing actual fireworks on his whiteboard.
As you said the word I watched it happen.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
Live sold me my body.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
But that's all right. That tells me I'm on the
right path. And that tells me that Panthers Bucks is
the other one that's going to come down potentially to.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
A two game series.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
There's a game in between where the Panthers have a
tougher matchup. I think it's Seattle and the Buccaneers have
the Dolphins, But it could potentially come down to that
week eighteen game, and I want to see fireworks.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
I want to see two teams that can put up
points in a hurry.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
Reminds me of that Seahawks Buccaneers game early in the
season where the Bucks had that shootout and basically came
down to who had the football last.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
That's the kind of game I want to see.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
The Panthers have been hanging in there and hanging in there,
and they've had some games where you go, oh, Okay,
maybe they're not as good as we thought, and then
all of a sudden they come back.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
And they beat the Rams at home. This is going to.
Speaker 6 (17:59):
Potentially come down to Week eighteen is on my wish
list that I want to see some fireworks in that game.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
All right, well, I'm with you and I have the
same the same thing, different deal though. Steelers Ravens Week
eighteen title game in the actually North. Come on now,
all my rowdy friends are coming over for this one
right now. One team is eight and six, one team
is seven and seven. The schedule gods had the Steelers
and the Ravens play in Pittsburgh the last week of
(18:23):
the Wow, it's incredible. You guys have a video for this.
I just came up with this answer. Thank you very much.
You are so nimble and so talented in the truck
that you're in the booth that you came up with it.
One of the This kind of feels like a in
college football, like a conference title game, you know, before
the bowl, we will get together one more.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Time conference title game.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Very controversial of these days noted and the No name
refuses are play in that man Ti why because they're
just too good for them. But in other words, the
Steelers are Ravens. Everyone would kind of handed the North.
I feel like to the Steelers a little bit because
they've won two in a row and they looked really good.
The Ravens are like, hold on, not so fast, kim Osabi.
We got a game we can win out. We can
beat you. This would be really fun. And imagine either
Lamar or Rogers.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Losing in Week eighteen to.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Get knocked out of the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
High drama. I want this.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
This is so in the weeds of like football media lore,
but like there's nothing more thrilling than finding out which
game NBC flexed into Sunday Night Football of Week eighteen
because they have deemed that the most important, the most
firework worthy game of the final week of the regular season.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
So that is on our wish list. Got it, Santa
got it next up.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
With three weeks left to play, every division is still
up for grabs. The last time this actually happened was
in twenty sixteen. So here's the question, put your time
travel caps on. Give me a team or a player
from this current season twenty twenty five that reminds you
of a team or a player from twenty sixteen.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Man Ti Well, I got a unit and a player.
Speaker 9 (19:47):
Here's going to be the Denver Broncos back in that
day in twenty sixteen, and then also the Denver Broncos
defense from twenty twenty five. Guys, their stats are scary,
not only from the personnel standpoint. They had an elite front,
their linebackers are extremely athletic, and then their secondary. But
look at these two Nick Bonito and von Miller, like
almost identical. Wow, and their production their defense. They're both
(20:12):
giving up points per game around eighteen total yards per game.
Twenty twenty five is three hundred and seventeen. Twenty sixteen
was three hundred and sixteen. Like they're so close, they're
so identical. And not only just their personnel, their rush,
their coverage, but the statistical category, these two units were dominant.
(20:32):
Twenty sixteen, they were dominant. Twenty twenty five, they're dominant.
So that was my kind.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Of flashback, and that's a good one comparison is these.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Two soon as I heard twenty sixteen my first year
at NFL Network, so I went right back to first
regular season game that I covered was the Eagles Browns
at home Carson Wentz against RG three, and Wentz well,
Wentz had made the quick ascension from number three quarterback
to number one when they traded Sam Bradford, and he
came out of the gate and.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
He played extremely well.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
Tyler Schuck sort of reminded me of Carson Wentz right
now we're seeing from him and Wentz.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
I think was twenty twenty three going on twenty four.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
If I recall correctly, Shuck is twenty six. It's gonna
be twenty seven next year, so they sort of feel
like grown men rookies. And the way that they playing
similar styles too. By the way, you could see Shuck
get out and do.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Some things with his legs.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
And the reason I mentioned Wentz is the next year,
twenty seventeen Bang hit the ground running MVP type pace.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
Could we be seeing that potentially from Tyler Shuck?
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Wow? Super?
Speaker 6 (21:31):
I mean again, he's gonna be twenty seven next year,
like it's got to happen sooner for him than some
other quarterbacks. And I think that that's actually helped them,
that experience.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
That he's had.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
So Tyler Shuck reminded me of a young Carson went
So wentzwagon.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
We used to talk, Oh yeah, I bring it up
three or four times a year. Carson Wentz became such
a big thing that Mike was given an assignment to
cover the Carson Wentz faith based food truck.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Yeah, which was called again what Mike.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
Hi Kingdom Crumb, My Kingdom Crumb.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I still think it should have been called Jesus Take
the Wheel, but maybe we'll continue.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
To expand it a few working.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
We did a whole segment now, what should food drug
be called?
Speaker 4 (22:05):
And to that point.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Twenty sixteen, first year of Good Morning Football, and I
remember the biggest story of that year was the twenty
sixteen Cowboys. Dak and Zeke were both rookies. They ended
up getting knocked out of the playoffs by the Aaron
Rodgers crazy throw to Jerry Cook on the sideline. But
I'm going with another twenty sixteen team, this year's Rams
Stafford McVeigh at al.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
They remind me.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Of the twenty sixteen Falcons, a team, of course that
ended an infamy, but had a lot of incredible things
going on. You have the MVP, quarterback Mitt Ryan was
the MVP. You had a cavalcade of weapons, Julio Jones, Taylor,
Turbo Gabriel, the running backs, Devonte Freeman, Tevin Coleman. This
is Kyle Shanahan running the offense. A fun team, great team,
(22:47):
great to I mean, they were destroying the Patriots by three,
three touchdowns. All right, I know it ended horribly, but
my god, this was a great team.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Matt Ryan won the MVP. People did not have that in.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Their odds and it was just offense and offense and
offensive guys on defensive, Dion Jones, Young, Keanu Nil like fun,
cool players did outrageous things. I'm not saying that the
Rams are going to have an all time melt down
on the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
I'm not saying that all this is supposed to be
a compliment.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
For God's sake, weapons, MVP quarterback grizzled head coaches with
Dan Quinn head coach team. I love that team and
the Falcons. I know they came up short, but the
Rams may not. But this is my comparison.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
It's so unfair that we remember the team because of
the meltdown, because they were really good.
Speaker 7 (23:27):
They were unbelievably coached.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
The quarterback head coach combination and working relationship reminds me.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
So that's a great comparison, Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
I keep thinking about that food truck. She just take
the wheel. It's like on my mind.
Speaker 7 (23:39):
Now and I'm thinking about the other names that I
had for it.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
And it depends on how deep your Sunday schooling went.
The beetitudes was one that I threw his.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Salmon on the mount.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Excellent, excellent, all right, last question for whiteboard Wednesday. Yesterday,
it was announced that dou doubleg is going to show
up underneath your Christmas tree in Minnesota as the Soup
Dog will be performing at Netflix's holiday halftime party in Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
This is fantastic. We love Snoop.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
He is going to show up in Minnesota, pack his
park and put on a show at us Bank Stadium.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Great for Lions Vikings on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Here's the question, though, MANSI do you have a dream
holiday halftime performer obviously after Snoop Dogg number two on.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
The list, if you will, yes, I do.
Speaker 9 (24:27):
I think when you consider the setting, he has to
be a global superstar.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Also, it's is football, so you don't want to have
an opera out there and put everybody to sleep.
Speaker 9 (24:36):
I got to say Justin Bieber, and Justin Bieber got
this song called Missiletoe, which I thought that was extreme.
I love that's imagine I for the past five minutes,
I've struggled at trying to draw a missilete without seeming inappropriate,
like trying to get those.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Things racing like five million times.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
He's Google image missiletoe like three balls.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Struggle. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (24:58):
I was like, there's so many different renditions of a
missiletoe that I try to draw on this whiteboard.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
I was like, you know what, guys, it's just not
padding out.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Just Bieber right across and put Bieber on the stage.
Speaker 9 (25:09):
Put Bieber on my white board, like, let him perform
at Christmas?
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Might you just don't put the missile toe? Was gonna
do it.
Speaker 9 (25:16):
I wasn't gonna do the leaves look weird at the
three balls stuck the cawdy word.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
It wasn't looking good, wasn't working, wasn't appropriate.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Guys on berries?
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Yeah, the berries out o them things?
Speaker 6 (25:28):
You know, man, do you believe in other dimensions and
energy and this kind of thing? Because you and I
are connect Because I was just trying to draw a
microphone here and I said, and I was like, get
rid of that.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
Get rid of that. I got. I got the rat pack.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
That's a cigarette and a uh and a glass of
scotch right here.
Speaker 7 (25:47):
You said, it's a dream.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
So I'm gonna wake the dead on this one here,
and I'm gonna get Sinatra, I'm gonna get Dean Martin,
Poor Joey Bishop never in any of these pictures.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
No one remembers him.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
Sammy Davis Junior, he's got some holiday bangers, but you
don't hear those quite as much so I but even
if Sammy comes in the middle, received the commercial of
Sammy Poor in a glass of scotch with the ice.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Yes, and for a minute, you can just do that
right in the middle.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
It's kind of an interlude between the I would just
take that, but yeah, give me a rap Pack, give
me the game in Vegas, even though maybe the Raiders
don't deserve it. I'll take the rat Pack with the
Holiday bangers.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
That's classy. My creative answer. I wouldn't have gone back
that far. That's a great one. The burden with these things,
as always is you just can't please everyone.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
You just can't.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
So I remember when you know the super Bowl gets
announced and it's gonna be in San Francisco, people like
me are like, oh my god, Metallica's and I'm like,
that's not gonna be Metallica.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
There's too many people who weren't into that.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
But of course there's other the acts that may be
younger that the old people aren't into. So you need
something for everybody. And I've got it, and I've been saying.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
It for years.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Weird Ow, weird Al Yankovic and just hear me out,
all right, it's something for everybody. You're gonna have homages
to everyone from Michael Jackson to Nirvana to Coolio to
the Knack to Joan Jet. There's all there's gonna be rap,
and there's gonna be rock. Now, it's all gonna be versical,
and it's all gonna be parody. But even the people
(27:09):
who are getting parody themselves, like Michael Jackson is on
record and having loved Weird Al, He's like, yes, take
my songs, do whatever you want with them, Madonna, you
name it. This is the closest we can get to
really hitting different genres, different eras. Weird Al is still
out there, He's still cool. I think he's an all
time legend. I think it should be in the Rock
Hall of Fame if he isn't already. I've said for
years he should be the super Bowl halftime if we
(27:31):
can do the Christmas halftime. Come on, even you know
everybody loves weird Al, even the young TikTokers learn about him.
Go listen to his songs. It's so funny and it's creative,
and it's done, and on and on. Weird Al Yankeevick
would bring the house down. Weird All, please get into it.
We want to give it to us.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Kyle, have you been to a Weird Al show?
Speaker 4 (27:50):
No? I never have, and I should have.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I don't know how Ofteny tours, but I and I
don't like to leave the house on the weekends. I
would go like to Jersey for a weird Olt.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Come, so I go. I'd even do that?
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Wow all the way, What a sacrifice.
Speaker 9 (28:05):
The NFL Way to Play Awards are fueled by a Gator.
They were created to recognize the reward players who lead
by example using proper playing technique, and this week as
teamwork makes the dream work with more, here's five time
Pro Bowl defensive back and current Executive vice President of
Football Operations for the NFL, Troy Vincent.
Speaker 12 (28:23):
Our winner this week is Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle van Noy's.
Speaker 13 (28:27):
In one on one situation, bro again kind of stumbles
and he's in accepted, picked off by Van Noy. Then
the handoff it's Gilman and Gilman is good as scored
as the Ravens look for the knockout pins.
Speaker 12 (28:44):
Here you're seeing lined up over the guard, influencing him
as though he was coming in the blitz.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
What does he do?
Speaker 12 (28:50):
Drop back in coverage, intercepts the ball, but very quickly
the why Vett says, you know what, it's better than
I give this to my teammate.
Speaker 11 (28:58):
The finishes play Ravens touchdown.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Here's another play we just have to recognize. This is
a way to play. Pick your attention to number twenty.
Speaker 12 (29:04):
Three Drew Tranqule watching strike the offensive player, shed the
block and then come off and make the tackle.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
This is a gritty play.
Speaker 11 (29:12):
I love seeing this kind of football play.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Great play, Drew.
Speaker 9 (29:16):
But there can only be one winner, and this week
it's Kyle for his terrific way to play example. The
NFL Foundation will award a five thousand dollars equipment grant
through USA Football to a youth or high school program
of Kyle's choice. To learn more about the NFL Way
to Play, check out Playfootball dot NFL dot com and
we'll have another great way to play example right here.
(29:38):
Next week coming up, we have a treat our favorite
setup twins, Jason McCarty, they Evin mccorty. They're joining the crew.
Go back through memory lane see what they're working on. Now,
don't go anywhere you don't want to miss it.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Good Football.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Our next guests are no strangers to us here at
Good Morning Football. After their respective Super Bowl winning NFL careers,
they've gone on to become a part of our sports
sports broadcasting family. I'm reading this as if Jason and
Death mccorty aren't sitting just off camera, like get in here,
McCarty twins.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
We know you, We love you.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
You know Jay, Jay.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
I, you know I have beef with the fact that
I don't get to participate in White Bird Wednesday. If
I could answer the wishless question, it would have said,
let's have the mccordy's on this hour.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
So would you look at that? It is the gift
that was given to us on a Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Jason, I will start with you first of all, how
are you, my friend?
Speaker 14 (30:38):
I'm doing well. Dreams come true and I just got
to take the time and say, and Matti, you're killing it.
I know what it's like.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah, I know what.
Speaker 11 (30:46):
It's like to work with the three people that you're
on the screen with. So it can be hard some
days working with those three people. So the fact that
you're pulling it all to you.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
The pressure, Jay, just the pressure, Bro, I'm telling you,
it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Bro. It's like Super Bowl Sunday every day over here. Bro.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Oh man, Jason, Let's check in with one of the
headlines that was just engulfing the NFL the.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Last two weeks or so. And it was a game and.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
A headline that you stumbled into broadcasting for CBS last
weekend and that is one Philip Rivers back in the
field for the Colts. What was it like broadcasting that
game back in the production? Meeting the whole River's experience
last weekend?
Speaker 11 (31:26):
It was insane For one.
Speaker 14 (31:27):
Rivers walks in a run and you forget, like how
big this dude is six' five and then you know
he's a.
Speaker 11 (31:32):
Grandpa so you're not.
Speaker 14 (31:33):
The same slim and trim as you once were at
twenty five years. Old BUT i think his perspective on
the game was awesome of coming, back not coming to save,
today but also just so. Excited he talked about the
challenge of what it was like to come back playing
out forty four and what it would mean to his
kids to see their dad going for it and not
having fear of what could possibly. Happen, hell he said to,
(31:55):
US i may pop my calf on the first play
running From Leonard. Williams and it was a few times
he slipped and he fell down AND i wasn't sure
he was going to be able to get back, up
but he got up on his and he kept on slinging.
Speaker 11 (32:06):
It, so, yes was there you looked at that?
Speaker 14 (32:08):
Game was there opportunities when he threw that football where you're,
like damn that that looks a little bit. Old but
the one thing that was impressive to me was the
way he controlled the line of scrimmage and how he
was able to get them in and out of the
right play throughout the, game and the Way Shane styke
and their head coach drew it up was exactly what that.
Was now would have liked to end with more points
than The Seattle seahawks When Blake groupie hit that, kick
(32:30):
but they made the game into a one of time of,
possession running the football and kind of slowing the game.
Down so it was really cool to see him out
there playing as high school kids on his football.
Speaker 11 (32:41):
Team all watching at a local. Restaurant it was a
cool experience to be a part.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Of, DEVIN i know you got your own opinions On
rivers as, well but what are your opinions on mccordy's
opinions Of. Rivers you watching that game With jason calling,
it what did you think of the call and what
does it generally like to watch games that your twin brothers.
Speaker 14 (33:00):
Calling, well we have a rule at our screening, Room
jay's all, mute SO i see the game AND i
don't necessarily Hear jay because we keep them on.
Speaker 11 (33:10):
Mute but, NO i think it was.
Speaker 14 (33:12):
EXCITING i think you got an old dude calling a
game of another old dude played against him that, Perspective
SO i think him At Charles davis being able to
talk about being being Philip.
Speaker 11 (33:23):
Rivers being in that.
Speaker 14 (33:24):
Situation and the unique thing was they were winning most
of the, Game so all of the things that people
wanted to say About rivers and the team you just couldn't.
Say but, AGAIN i heard maybe a quarter of What
jay was actually. Saying there were, better better announcers on
at that time. Slot rough time slot for J matt.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
So, much, chopbusting so, much and you take it all the,
time and you take it so.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Well.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Jason let me go back to, you, though Because i'm
going to give you some. More you know what's Crazy
When rivers enters the, league one of the benefactors now
Is rogers because he like looks young and spry compared To.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Rivers he's still forty two years. Old he's headed towards the.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
PLAYOFFS i want to get your take On aaron Rode
jerus about what the future may, be and just want
to remind, You, jason you're now back ON nfl, networks
so you don't have to relate it to Like lebron
Or shador Or. Otani you can just talk about anything you.
Want there's no directive at.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
All just be. Freeing bu, mean what are you talking?
Speaker 14 (34:19):
About we always talk About lebron And? Shador is there
more PERSON? Nfl don't take that away from. Me IF
i want to make that, COMPARISON i will make that.
Comparison Aaron. Rodgers the one thing he said that was
cool to me was he was excited to be In
pittsburgh because he was playing meaningful football this time of the.
Speaker 11 (34:37):
Year and someone who played thirteen years and played.
Speaker 14 (34:39):
A lot of meaningless football in the month Of, DECEMBER
i know what that's.
Speaker 11 (34:43):
Like so seeing him out there.
Speaker 14 (34:45):
Playing in the passing through THE, dk the amount of
getting that ball through there all was. Impressive now they
could play against The Miami dolphins each and every, week
then they would be all. RIGHT i think when the
playoffs come around and they're placing a better, TEAM i
don't know if it's going to look as pretty out,
there but.
Speaker 11 (35:00):
Man old dudes out here just.
Speaker 14 (35:02):
Bawling, kyle you talked about getting back into the squad.
Rack it might be time for you to do so
the way the other guys are doing.
Speaker 11 (35:08):
It BUT i do think Where rogers.
Speaker 14 (35:11):
His ability to motivate this. Team Cam hayward talked about
it after the. Game Where rogers is making those, faces
are he's snapping at?
Speaker 11 (35:19):
People they've. Responded they all need to do.
Speaker 14 (35:21):
Better so to Watch, PITTSBURGH i think it's gonna be
interesting because there's not that. Many there's really no teams IN.
Afc Maybe houston scares you a little bit with their.
Defense Josh allen is the scariest guy in all of the.
Playoffs but other than, THAT i don't think there's like
this clear cut. Favorite So rogers and this team they
might be able to make some. NOISE i think more
than we thought a few weeks.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
Ago, devin it's good to see, you.
Speaker 9 (35:43):
Brother the last TIME i saw you was week one
before the season, opener and since then a lot has,
happened and a lot has, transpired specifically for The New
England patriots And Drake. May but then they run Into
Josh allen and The Buffalo bills and that.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Big comeback For.
Speaker 9 (35:57):
Buffalo what are your thoughts about both of these, teams
and how confident are you as a Former patriot going
into the.
Speaker 14 (36:03):
Postseason, YEAH i think for both these, TEAMS i think
when you break down The Buffalo, bills who they. Have
AND i talked To Dion dawkins after the, game and he,
said coming in to the game and hearing about HATTING
t shirts and all of that, stuff he, said it
was a kind of, reminder like we are who we,
Are like we've dominated this division for a long time
since he's been In, Buffalo and he, said.
Speaker 11 (36:25):
They just want to get back to.
Speaker 14 (36:26):
That they want to show everybody what they can, do
and that's what they. Did BUT i think For New, england,
look you're eleven and, three you're sitting here first place
in THE Afc, east and you can control everything that's
in front of. You AND i think for, them the
key will be turning the. Page you have a huge
Game Sunday Night football against The Baltimore, ravens a team
that when you're in the playoffs you rather not see,
(36:48):
again and you're going to have an opportunity to, say,
hey we maybe could be one of the key teams
that keeps The Baltimore ravens out of the playoffs by beating,
Them SO i think that's where their focus is going to.
Be this team has exceeded expectations so, far but when
you play In New, england once you give that little glimp,
hope people are gonna want. More they're gonna want to
see this team not just be in the playoffs when
(37:09):
possibly get into the conference championship because they believe the
time is. Now so it'll be fun watching How New
england kind of recovers from this game this past week
and how they move forward towards the end of the.
Speaker 6 (37:20):
Season, jason we got to Talk chiefs because there's a
lot happening there and we're not gonna Have Kansas city
in the, playoffs which is gonna be. Weird it's gonna
be Like Tom brady in the middle of that run
and The patriots not being in the.
Speaker 7 (37:29):
Playoffs you, know they won a lot Of Super.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
Bowls they been won, three by the, Way yes him right,
there you know behind, him he.
Speaker 7 (37:34):
Has has three of those.
Speaker 6 (37:35):
Things but you, know you Got mahomes with THE, acl
you got The chiefs not making the. Playoffs how do they?
Reset how do they get? RIGHT i, mean you, Know
mahomes is gonna attack his. Rehab how do we feel
about The chiefs right?
Speaker 14 (37:46):
Now, WELL i For Wan schraeger doesn't know what he's
going to do with the rest of his broadcasting career
now THAT i know in the, playoffs so he's a
little bit he's a little bit lost right. Now i've
been talking to, him trying to talk him off the
cliff this. Week BUT i think for The chiefs that's
hitting reset and it's rebuilding.
Speaker 11 (38:00):
The roster Around Patrick.
Speaker 14 (38:02):
Mahomes you think about The devin mc, era The Rob
gonkrawski and all of those guys coming in To New
england After brady won those Three Super. Bowls the challenge
now For Andy reid And brett viaches can they do the?
Same can they retool that roster and Allow mahomes to
make it great?
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Again all?
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Right YouTube play?
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Nice passed past the talking stick accordingly between your two
fancy houses In New, jersey because we got to talk
about why you're here, today which is Being Inspire Change
ambassadors this. Season Dev i'll start with, you since you
have More Super bowl trophies behind, you what is your
involvement with this and the NFL's partnership with?
Speaker 4 (38:35):
Them this.
Speaker 14 (38:35):
Season, yeah We're Inspired Change, ambassadors AND i think the
cool thing for both of us, is you, know we
were involved in the beginning of this since twenty, seventeen
where Now Inspired change is giving out four hundred and
sixty million dollars to different nonprofit, organizations whether in local markets.
NATIONALLY i got to be kind of on the cutting
edge floor of striking this deal and doing.
Speaker 11 (38:57):
This SO i think it's cool to be here to
see the hard.
Speaker 14 (39:00):
Work that so many, players whether it Was Colin, Kaepernanck
malcolm Jink as And Kwon, bolden guys that went in
there and, said, hey we want to.
Speaker 11 (39:08):
See investments into these.
Speaker 14 (39:09):
Communities Inspire change has done, that given one point two
million dollars to six different nonprofits organizations this year along
with The Inspire change. Platform so it's just cool to
be a part of it and still be involved even
though we can't play football.
Speaker 11 (39:25):
Anymore and this is To dev's.
