Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
What's up everybody? Welcome to with the stick, DJ and
Buck with you? Buck? How you doing my front man,
I'm good. DJ.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
We're coming down the stretch. We're putting the finishing touches
on these lists and boards and rankings. I think I
got an email that I have to submit my last
top five next week, which is probably about right. I
think I have the mock draft that Monday afterwards. I
know you're working on the big mock draft to finish with.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah. Man, like you can see the light at the
end of the tunnel, Yeah, the light is there. Man,
I've got the one to fifty I got to put together.
It's one of the exercises for me when you're going
through that is kind of seeing where you're a little
bit light because I've got the information of how many
players traditionally go over the last five years, for example,
in the top fifty and the top one hundred, the

(00:49):
top one fifty, you know all that stuff, and then
you just start looking at the draft and it you
can start going like, I'm some positions. I'm like, I'm
gonna have a hard time whittling this down into that
number and other positions. I'm like, well, man, I'm trying
to like the running backs. I'm sitting here going like, okay,
I'm looking at these averages going I don't think I'm
gonna get to that number. So those are gonna have

(01:10):
to come from some other position in this draft. But
it is kind of interesting once you start getting into
the deeper part of it and trying to figure out
not only how you like these guys, but traditionally where
these guys end up falling. And that's really a good study, right.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
It's one of the things that we used to talk
about like what really plays in this league, and it's
almost like what really gets drafted. We can theorize and
talk about the players that we like in those things,
but on average, there are.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
A number of dvs.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
There's number running backs, there are number linemen. They get drafted,
and whether they get picked, what is the sweet spot
for them getting picked, and how we know We for
years talked about DB's and wide receivers second or third round,
they're gonna be populated with those guys. Offensive linemen are
gonna come early. There's gonna be a run and once
the run goes early, you better get on board because
they're not gonna be available later in the thing. And

(01:55):
so it's you know, like trusting your process, but also
trusting what the historic trends tell you because then it
puts you more in line to be correct when we
get through draft weekend.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, No, I think it's it's a great call, no question.
I want to get to this week's Hot or Not
brought to you by It with Sabbi Hot Cloud Storage
and Buck. I want to hit you up on this one,
and then I'll jump in on the back end of it.
But as you go through this process, I feel like
there's guys who gather steam and then they lose steam
and then you kind of see it all kind of
ebb and flow and talking to your buddies around the league.

(02:29):
Is there anyone as we're coming down the home stretch
that you're hearing more about than maybe you know we
heard about earlier on in the process, or somebody who's
kind of peeking at the right time, just in terms
of the momentum and the conversation.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, I mean, I feel like we were a little
early on the Monroe Freeling rise, and I think now
that we have that.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I think it's settling back down to where he's probably
going to be drafted.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I think the offensive Taco class, we're gonna talk about
this path to the draft shortly, where's the run on
offensive tackle is going to be? And I think Monroe
Frilling is going to be in that conversation, Like right
around seventeen when Detroit picks.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
All the way through the.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Twenties, you can see about four or five offensive tackles go.
I think he is someone that has been talked about
all the way up there at six maybe to the Browns.
I think when it's all said and done, he's going
to go back to where he probably grays out at,
which is late teams, mid twenties is probably where Monroe
Frilling comes off the board.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, that's a fun one. I'm fascinated. I do think
once the run starts, and maybe it starts earlier, but
if earlier, then they're going to go going. They're going
people aren't going way yes, And I think like if
Mauioah goes three to Arizona, I could then see Cleveland saying, okay,
we want to get a tackle with you know, six

(03:46):
or twenty four of it. Man, we might just pull
it at six. Let's just take Fano at six.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And then it's funny and that like we always talked
about the comparicicn trash, right, like it's not even really
the cluster buster.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
But how do I want to get this? When is
the run?

Speaker 2 (04:00):
What's the supplying demand? And you're right, my node goes
at three, final goes at six. Then the kan City
Chiefs have to make a decision at nine if they
want to jump into I mean, so it changes, it
threatens to change everything when those first guys go. And
when you look at the depth of the draft, because
we always compare and contrast and people talk about the

(04:20):
horizontal board. Okay, well the offensive tackle class is like this. Well, man,
there's more depth at this bottom of the first round,
top of the second round wide receiver class. We'll we'll
operate there for those guys and make sure we get
the tackle that we want early because they may not
be the same kind of player that's available at the
bottom of the first top of the second. Yeah, no question.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I'll give you another player that has got a little
bit of heat coming down the home stretch. That's our
Mason Thomas edge rush rattle Oh, yeah, he's one of
those ones. He kind of has gotten lost in the
shuffle a little bit through all the discussion on guys.
But yeah, I'm beginning to think he's going to go
a little bit earlier than you think. And I wouldn't
be shocked if he got into the first round if

(05:03):
he ended up. And I think there's times where we've
talked about him in the first round discussion. I think
I have him in the forties on my list, but
if he got into the bout of the first round,
it wouldn't surprise me. There's just some good love for
him floating around out there. No, it's funny that he
came up.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I think I did a segment talking about him going
to potentially the Atlanta Falcons as they have to contemplate
what to do with or without James Spearce.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
And when you look at.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Our MAS, sometimes you go back and look at the
tape and I have now jack yard Dog first step, quickness, closing,
verst energy, relentless, just plays with it. It's amazing how
he turns speed into power bull rush. Then you see
the steady production that you see in particular the last
two years when he's had fifteen and a half sacks
and three fourced fumbles.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
He can get after it. And I know people have
talked about.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
The size six two two forty nine, but DJ I
kind of almost feel like we're at a time where
all these athletes are blurred, Like that size can be
the same as the linebacker can be the same as
the safe. Like they're all blurred, and people are putting
them all on the feel and finding a way in
sub packages to make it.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
All work for them. Yeah, no, absolutely, Now those are
those are a couple of the buzzy conversations that are
taking place. That was this week's Hot or Not segment,
brought to you by with Sabby Hot Cloud storage, Still
more and do more with your data try them for
free at Withsaby dot com. Buck So I mentioned I
had this list and this is the exercise I want
to go through today. I've got the averages for the

(06:23):
last five years, so it's going to be a simple
over under game here. You just tell me if you
think there's going to be more or less, So you
can even say on you know, on the line that
well we have that many guys at each position as
we go through the first round, and then I can
kind of give you the names. I haven't sorted by
a position over here as we go through it, and
uh see if you if you need any assistance as

(06:44):
we knock this out. All right, first round average over
the last five drafts, quarterbacks, this is I'm gonna start
you off with a layup quarterbacks. Three point four has
been the average number of quarterbacks in the first round.
Oh yeah, I'm gonnake. I'm gonna take the on there
on that. If we're playing check, i'd be like, hole,
no more card, I'm good, We're good to go. Yeah,

(07:05):
now we're gonna come well well in three point four
because that was an easy one. I'm gonna make it
a little bit more hard now. So on average, if
you add the second and third round, there's on average
two point two in the second third round. So for
averaging day one and two the first three rounds, that
puts us at five point six. Will round that up
to six. Do you think we get six quarterbacks going

(07:29):
in the first three rounds? No?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
I don't think so, you know, I think we get
I mean, but my name, I think we get the
first two. Yeah, those in Simpson and then DJ After that,
it's a walk card like I can't even think.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
And no disrespect to.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Carson Beck and Drew Alley and Grant you're a nuts spins.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
But I'm I mean, maybe we get three. I just
can't see what happens is that teams now are just
looking at those second third round picks, going, man, I
can I'll just wait and get whatever quarterbacks they're in
the fourth of the fifth. I don't want to. I
don't want to spend a second or third on quarterback. Yeah,
I got to get a player. Like we talk about
those first three rounds.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
You need to get players the book of your your
team and your start as our first and second round
maybe third round picks. Like I don't want to say,
you don't want to throw a dart at that point,
but I don't know if this.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Is a quarterback class that you're throwing a dart at
on day two. All right, let's get the running backs.
This is a good good number here, so on average
last five years, one point two. So we'll just we'll round,
we'll round everything today. So that's one. So do we
get more than one running back in the first round.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
I don't think so confidently, I'm saying Jeremiah Love is
the only one that comes.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Off the board.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Okay, Price like Princeville, but I.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
I like Price. He's in that he's on that borderline
for me of where I have him rated, like he's
right at the end of the first early second round.
I just think the teams that might be in that
market could also be in the trade outmarket and could
try and locate him there in the second round. So
at the end of the day, I'm gonna say I'm
with you on that as one. And then again when
we get to the rounds two through three, there's on

(09:10):
average four point two, So in the first to the
first two days, you're talking about five point three, So
five running backs. I mean I can see that kind
of maybe getting there. I would love it. Yeah, I
would say.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I say we get there because one, two, three we
talked about for sure, like Mike Washington is in there.
There's some love on the street for Emma Johnson at
the right value. The fifth one is the wild card.
I don't know who the fifth one would be to
come off come off the board, but I think we
get there.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I think we get to five. Yeah, kase Sean Allen maybe,
but there's man, it's I don't love this running back class, man,
I just I don't. Sorry. I have Nick Singleton. I
always get these Penn State guys. I start confusing them.
I have it emmittt the top two. Then I have
Emmett Johnson, Mike Washington, Nick Singleton. So I don't know.

(10:08):
I think we might come up short on that one too, Buck,
which means we're gonna have to have some extras coming
up here. Wide receivers on average in the first round.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Five let's see on average five five Brian receivers really yep.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Later, so we go Tate.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Wee Tyson is a wild card. Man, We're gonna be
right there. DJ, We're gonna be hugging up against it. Omar, Yeah, concepts,
you got concepts you own?

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Denzel Boston Boston, Yeah, I think we get there. Man.
I think it's gonna come because of the lack of
the two positions we just discussed. I think that's gonna
put an extra white out in there.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yeah, I think we I think we get there. Denzel
Boston is the one that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I feel like there's a lot of conversation early then
they kind of pause, Oh it's.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Come back, Buck. Yeah, And now come back. Yeah, and
now and now it's back or whatever. It's just so funny, man.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
It's almost like if you could chart that the buzz
around the league and you have like a bill curve
where you just kind of dots on certain days and
then you bail curve it and see where it lines up.
It's funny how it has circle back around for him
being up there.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
All right, tight ends one. I think that's I mean,
that's that's it. Yes, we hit the we hit the
average on that one offensive tackles five point four, So
we'll just say it five. I'm easy. We blow past that,
we blow past that stop sign. We're going over. We're
going over on the tackles. Yeah, we're going over on

(11:41):
the tackles. Right, we have to go over on right, Yeah,
especially if you're counting Fano as a tackle. Yeah, we
counted as a tackle.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
We think Max gets in there, Sure he gets in there.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
That would be That would be the seventh for me,
because you still have Ma, you have Fano, Maui, no,
Noah for me, Blake Miller, Freelanctor. That's five, and then
you got Lomo and Ianachor that's seven. Yeah, we're getting
in there. Six or seven. I feel good about that one.
All right, let's do uh, let's do interior offensive lineman

(12:12):
A lump them together, guards and centers is one point eight,
so that would be two you know you want it
is going, and then we kind of one of these
other guys. There's a surprise. There's always a surprise in there,
like an interior player that that like, yeah, we get
like a rut ledgit besontis a pregnant like one of
those guys. Yeah, one of those three. Yeah, brother's one

(12:37):
of those. Get in there. Okay, I like that one.
All right, let's take a let's take a pause. That's
the offense, and we'll come back and knock out the
defense right after this. All right, buck, next up, over
the last five years, defensive tackles in the first round
two point six, which we're going to push up to three.
Do we see three defensive tackles go in the first round?

(12:57):
Let me save you the time.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
No, we do know, no, no, because all the attackers
that we're talking about are run stoppers.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
We've had conversations on other pods. We were talking about message.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Or being celebrated as a potential inside pass rusher because
it speaks to the lack of pass rushing presidence that
we have inside.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Now we don't have all those run stoppers to go. Yeah,
I think Kayden McDonald has a chance. I think that's
the only one I think has a chance to go
in the first round. So we'll be a little light there.
It's kind of walking when you get the defensive ends
and linebackers because some of the linebackers are actually edge guys.
But if we were to just kind of lump them
together of just off the ball linebackers with defensive ends,

(13:37):
that's six point eight, So that puts us at seven.
I mean, I think we're gonna you know, I think
we're gonna clips that. Now, the off the ball linebackers,
I don't know how many we get there. Obviously Styles
is going to be one of them that might end
up being the only one then ends up going from
an off the ball linebacker situation. Yeah, then edge rushers
are going to go. Yeah, the edge rushers are going

(13:59):
to go.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
People that talk about how they lumped in, but if
it's a pass rusher, uh, they're gonna blow past their
number off ball linebackers. I confidently feel like Sunny Style
is gonna be the only one it goes in the
first round. I think all those other guys top of
the second round, we'll see it like a little round
with c. J. Allen and Hell and those linebackers Rodriguez.
Second round to me feels.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Like where they're gonna kind of pop off the board. Yeah.
I do think we end up going over there because
of all those edge rushers that pop in there. All right,
we got two more left here, corners three point eight,
so we're gonna push that to four. Do we see
four corners go in the first round? Yes, whatever the
word is. So we got I've got Delaine with I've

(14:45):
got Hood and Johnson and then Terrell is how I
have it.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
But yeah, any any combination I had, uh Terrell Hood,
I think Johnson is in that conversation.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
At the bottom of the thing.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yeah, those guys to me puts us over the number
that we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah, three point eight. All right, Well that's that's gonna
be interesting to see how this all ends up coming
off the board. Fuck, you've got to scoot and do
some television. I'm not going to keep you any longer.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Uh, we're working at what we're doing, working on a
golf game that we're doings.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
No, no, no, I'm doing I'm doing draft prep. I
might have it on in the background. I'm have the
Masters on the background. But I've got to go through
and do you know a lot of the production type stuff,
you know, for when guys get picked with this called
the baseball cards with the little put the little three
things up there. So I'm still working my way through
that and then stacking this one fifty and then uh

(15:37):
building out my little board so I have it on
one sheet to be able to look at. But I'm
glad this thing is here. I'm sick of I'm sick
of debating with myself about my seventh and eighth tight
end of like, you know, it's a lot, Yeah, it's
a lot. Like what are we doing? Just put them
down there, by the way, help me out with that
real quick. The way the game is right now, similar
graded players, we're not with the team, so we're generically

(15:59):
greeting these guys, which is harder if you had somebody
who was more of the athlete move tight end versus
the inline. Why same grade? How would you stack them
in the year twenty twenty six? I think do why
it always gets to favor, right you always I'm doing
add additional tight end over the move guy. And if

(16:21):
we separate the categories, yeah, I think do Why.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
It's more favorite, just because we're talking about someone that
can play on all three downs as opposed to especially
as maybe a third down game.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, That's what I've been doing, all right, Go do it, buck,
Go to some television, Go pack to the draft. I
appreciate you guys hanging with us today. We will be
back next week with some fresh episodes coming your way.
We appreciate you to see next time right here on
