(00:00):
Hi, guys, it's the AfterShow podcast. It's Justin and my partner
in crime not doing time. Iknow it's not I don't do it on
purpose. I'm sorry. Anyway,we're here. It's Monday. It's June
twenty fourth. It's the wrap theBilly and Lisa Show wrapped up, so
you know what happens. We jumpin and we get it going before we

(00:23):
get before we start, Winny,I want to send a shout out to
someone that you know, and hername is Lynn. Lynn is a listener,
Lynn Back. That her government nameis Lynn Back. Yes, but
Lynn is a dedicated listener of ourshow. She has been for forever.
You know, she loves all ofus. We love her too. But

(00:45):
she is not but but and she'samazing because she just remembers the little things.
Whinny. She sends gifts for mychildren on their birthday. Yeah,
she was the first person to wishit. But it was I knew it
was in June. But she wasthe first person to remember my clean dates.
Yeah, and sent me a messageyesterday and it was one of those

(01:08):
you know, hey, in caseI forget you know, I wanted to
say congratulations. She writes down dates. It's just it's just really nice.
It's really nice of her to dothat. What do you mean look behind
me. I have no idea whatthe mighty mccab is doing. I saw,
Okay, yeah, I saw.I don't know the mccab is walking

(01:32):
around our studios with somebody that wedon't know. We always wonder and so
that that they were recording in anotherstudio. I don't know what's going on
it, but I just wanted toshout out and say a big shot to
Lynn because I thought that was reallynice. She sent Gemma a really nice
gift. It's it's a it's forchildren and has all these ice cream cones

(01:53):
right and under plastic, and thenit has a little magnet pencil and it
has little beads, little like littlebar and they're magnetic and so Gemma,
they're all different colors, and everyice cream cone is a different color.
So Gemma can take the magnet gunmagnet pencil and she gets each in the
bead and then skills into the perspectiverespective ice cream cone. Nice. That's

(02:17):
pretty good, right, It's nice, all right, So we'll start with
that, and uh, let's getgoing by Billy and Lisa in the Morning
present, a behind the scenes lookinto Boston's favorite morning show. That's a
little too much information to say.Guys, the after show podcasts. Who
here's Justin and winning? All right, Winny. Yeah. So it's June

(02:38):
twenty four. Today I celebrate sixteenyears clean. Thank you for everybody that
wished me a congratulations. And itbecomes a weird thing for me because I
think your clean aada is really importantto you, right, to the individual,
to myself, right. But Ialways get that and I never ever
want to dismiss it or discredit itbecause it is very important to me.

(02:58):
My clean time is very important. But whne, I always get this feeling
that, you know, making abig deal about it. After I'm gonna
say years ten, I'll say tenyears. Right after ten years, it's
like it's almost like, Okay, congratulations Justin for being a citizen of the
United States, for being an honestperson, which is a great thing.

(03:19):
And I'm not dismissive of myself andlisten, I don't make a huge deal
about it, and I'm appreciative.Does your wife make a big deal about
her date hasn't? Yeah, sheis the same thing, you know,
but it's it gets to a pointwhere she doesn't she doesn't even know she
forgot about your date. Yeah, she'll be reminded today by somebody and she'll
be like, oh my god.Hers is easy to remember because it's seven

(03:43):
twenty seven oh seven seven seven seven. Yeah, she went into. I
dropped her off at Danvers Detox onNovember twenty six, two thousand and seven,
and then she went in and sothat's her, that's her clean day.
But yeah, I'm so super excited. And uh an another year down,
just anhing. I mean, atthis point, you're going to be

(04:05):
sober longer than even well, let'sthink about it. Okay, so let's
think about it. Let's see youhaven't so sober longer I have. I
actually have. That's amazing. That'spretty good. That to me. Now
you are like, I know, you call yourself an addict, but I
don't look at us an ant anymore. You haven't a personality I do,
speaking of which I was telling Winnie, so okay, yeah, you can

(04:28):
have a mint, thank you.So I got clean in O eight.
I quit smoking cigarettes in nine.Okay, so it was very hard.
The story of it is I quitjen still smoked at the time I quit
smoking cigarettes. It was super hard. All I wanted to do was smoke
a cigarette. Right. Yeah,I quit for I think it was five
or six months now now it's January, and there was a big snowstorm and

(04:54):
Jen and I were stranded inside ofmy rooming house that I rented a room
in, and uh, we werestuck in this. She couldn't go outside
and smoke, so I was likejust smoking hair fine. So she was
smoking in the room and I smelledit, and I wanted so bad to
have it. Right, Finally,I said, you know what, fuck
it, give me a cigarette.I lit it up. I took a
hit, and I kid you not, this was like a sign from God.

(05:16):
I took a hit and I couldliterally feel the poison in my body,
like I could feel it. AndI put the cigarette out and I
never smoked again. I said tomyself, I'm never doing this again.
So I quit for about six orseven years. Okay, So then around
twenty thirteen, fourteen fifteen, aroundthere, vaping became poppie no no,

(05:40):
no, no no. So thenvaping came along. I didn't vape obviously,
I didn't smoke right, but thenJen decided to quit smoking, and
she did use the vape. Okay, so she was vaping for a while.
And then back in I don't know, maybe like twenty eighteen or something,
we were on vacation on a beachand she was vaping this strawberry cream

(06:03):
thing and she was blowing in theair and I could smell it, and
I was like, wow, itwas beautiful out in the sand. And
I was like, oh man, that's a vibrate there. Let me get
a hit of that. Now,I started, you know, vaping hers,
and gradually I got my own.And it's more of like a not
you know, when I'm relaxing, you know, and here's the other thing.

(06:25):
And I'm not trying to go likefull but Bill Clinton here, but
I don't inhale it. It's likea cigar. I'm doing it more for
the flavor. I don't. Idon't really. I do the lowest nicotine
possible. And so like, ifI'm chilling, I'll just vape whatever I'm
at home, I just you know, hit the vape a little bit whatever.
So I've been wanting to stop,so I just haven't like put it

(06:46):
into action. And so this weekendI was like I had the party or
whatever, and then I thought tomyself. I woke up Sunday and I
was like, yeah, I thinkI'm done with this, and so I
stopped, Well, I'm sure youcan keep it up. I'm one day
too, two days clean, becauseyou know what, Whennie, I thought
to myself, Okay, I'm justgonna quit now. And if I can
get one day off of it,one day clean, I can get too.

(07:09):
So I'm on day two. Ifyou can get rid of doing heroin,
I think get rid of the bay. It's really not that bad.
I actually haven't even thought about it. It's like, no way, It's
like quitting cigarettes is a ten. This is probably like a point zero five.
Oh okay, yeah, I'm noteven It's not even nothing. Because
I wasn't a huge like vaper person. It was more of like just something

(07:32):
to do to relax, you know. So so anyway, yeah, we
had the big party on Saturday. How do you like it? It's fun.
I love going to your house. When he came it rained after like
yeah hours, I mean it was. It definitely wasn't the best weather.
I'm not gonna lie. I saidthis publicly on my Live you know,
I love you guys, but Iwasn't really like I was not really looking

(07:53):
forward to going, you know, live. I was live. I want
live, like you know, onThursday or Friday night or something like that,
Everyone's go the big party. I'mlike, oh, yeah, you
know, I'm I'm going because Ilove you guys, But I don't really
want to drive with you to Hampshire. I have to come, I know,
but I don't have to. ButI want to. But I only
want to because I love you guys, because I really want to, you
know what I mean. Like,so I love seeing your family and whatever,

(08:16):
but like driving an hour plus inHampshire on my Saturday not really what
I want to do. That's whyI don't. Billy and Lisa don't come.
But but as long as I gotbut I had no But like you
said, what else was I doingdoing? Well, what they're doing,
so of course I I It wasa great time. I got to meet

(08:39):
your mom for the first time.I have met your dad plenty of times.
I've met your mother in law.I've met all your friends, your
brother, your sister in law.Never met your mother. I fucking love
her, really, she is well. Your dad is a lot different than
your mom. Yeah, they're bothkookie in their own ways, though your
dad's like, well, little bitmore reserve. Yeah, my mother is

(09:01):
kind of like you. She'll tellyou exactly to your face. I don't
want to tell you what she toldme about who. I don't can tell
you what she's about me about her. Oh yeah, she's she's she's.
Yeah, like I learned a lotabout her. Yeah, she's crazy.
She was a hot ticket, shewas, but she she she. I

(09:22):
know you and your mom had havehad your ups and downs in your relationships
because you both have had your issues. Right, she radiates rated warmth like
she was. She has like aloving like way about her. She was,
she was a great mom. Shehas a great mom. Yeah,
no, she I fucking love her. That's good. I'm glad. Yeah.
There was, you know, somepeople that were missing there, Like
zeb was not there. Ye whyhe had his baby. He had his

(09:46):
baby on the same day as Gemmaeleven PM, two years apart, exactly
two years apart, so he wasn'tthere. Some other people weren't there.
But overall it was good. Itwas fun. You know, I wish
like it was nicer out in thepool. Everyone was at the Yeah,
but you did a good job withthe girl. Good job, and the
girl you did grow up. Iwas impressed with that. My burger was
a little undercooked for me, butit was still I'm more like a medium.

(10:09):
Okay, you don't like as muchpink. Well, I mean with
steak, I like medium rare, but with my burger a little like medium
ish. Right, that's good. And then your dad, you know me
and you didn't have a weird thinggoing on with the whole touching thing.
He's a big touch We've talked aboutthis, how after a couple of times
meet him, I thought we couldhug, and then I realized we couldn't
hug because he got really weird aout when I try to hug him.

(10:31):
So then this time I didn't evenwant to touch him, right, I
didn't want to shore nothing. Ididn't want to go near your father.
I wanted to like give him apeace sign from ten feet away. Dad,
you're not going to shake my hand. And I'm like, I didn't
know I was allowed to say.Now he's about touching. Now he wants
to shake my hand, want totouch Yeah, yeah, he's he's a
weird dude, But Yeah, aboutyour nephew, so cute. He looks

(10:56):
just like your brother. Yeah, your mother's ready for him to have another
kid already. She's the big she'sthe nanny. Yeah, the house.
Well she know, I explained before, she missed that opportunity with us because
of you. You jealous. Ohno, no, no, no,
no, no, no opposite.Happy as ever, Happy as ever,
because I know that was a bigthing with her. She always felt inched

(11:16):
out. It's just a situation, you know, nanny together, well,
nanny and jen only child. Yeah, you know, so she was always
around. So my mom never gotthe full grandparent experience and she's getting it
now. Yeah, that's that's reallygood. So uh that was then,
And that was Saturday, and thenI really didn't watch the rest of the
weekend. I'm getting ready for vacation. Yeah what are you doing? Nothing?

(11:37):
But I mean I'm like recording stuffand you know, oh blah blah
blah blah, doing all that stuff, you know, looking forward to it,
looking forward to vacation. And thenthe first week in Aruba is the
big vacation. I know, Ican't I can't be handled the room ship
for a fucking hair bron When youhave kids. You have been talking about
this since last summer. I don'tI don't care anymore. I don't care.

(11:58):
I don't care ya talking about it? Talk tell me about it.
The recap second week, Oh well, it's going to be crazy. It's
going to be crazy. Oh mygod. Oh but anyway, fun show
today Katherine Loftus was on, andyou know that that Catherine Loftus is the
big talk on the Turtle Boy.Well, because we love Catherine and we

(12:24):
decided to go with Katherine. Ihad I had talked to her kind of
like we were talking about talking aboutthis more in depth a few months ago,
and you know, for me,it was more. We decided she
was more coming from a legal standpointand just looking at the case and not
all the outside noise, because there'sso much outside noise, and we wanted
to come at it. Obviously weall offer our opinions, but we wanted

(12:46):
to come at it pretty even keelfor people that were just listening and not
knowing about the case. And ifpeople want that it's out there jamming down
the hall. There's strictly one side. They have Nick Rocco on, who's
part of the Turtle Boy free KarenReeve, and that's their stand. So,
but what's happening is, and Ilove Catherine, she's great. Is
as she comes on and she's breakingdown and giving answers and breaking down the

(13:11):
case. People are getting the ideaof where she stands. But the thing
is, but she's not saying it. The thing is, though if you
actually talked to her. I've obviouslytalked to her a lot. She is
not like she obviously she was aprosecutor, right. She has seen the
law in a lot of different ways, and now she's a defense of whatever.
She knows the law. She's smart, her dad's a lawyer, like

(13:31):
she grew up in the law.Whatever. She is smart. But I
think she's looking at it very like, point blank, these are the facts.
This is what's coming in whatever Ithink she might be lean pulled away.
But she has said publicly and tome, it's not guilty that you
cannot convict this woman. She's like, you cannot convict her. They did
a horrible job. So even ifCatherine might in her head think that Catherine

(13:54):
might have been drunk and hit somebodyor by accident John, she has said
they should never charged her with murder. She was no murder, and she
said that they've done a horrible joband that you cannot She has said she
cannot be convicted. So what thatis what you're looking for, right,
That's what if you're on that side. Yeah, a lot of them like
if you go in the Turtle Boystuff. You know, anybody who's not
saying free Karen read, you knowis the thing is? And I I've

(14:18):
gotten some people that dming about thisis like I didn't listen. If I
wanted a blogger, I wouldn't wanta turtle Boy, but I wanted a
lawyer. And I have nothing againstTurtle Boy. For years, I remember
growing up, turtle Boy was likethe everyone would make you know if you
like, right, I don't disliketurtle Boy, but he's not a fucking
lawyer. Someone tried to call himand investigate a journalism. Fine, he's

(14:41):
investigator, but he's not a lawyer. He is not a lawyer. He's
making a lot of money and Idon't know from what I gather from.
You know, there's some other peopleon TikTok. There's Nurse Kim, who's
really funny and she's on the case, and Dave kleeen. I don't know
how to say his name. Iwatched their videos too, and they have
and they're more They're obviously more freekir and read, but like they are

(15:03):
just people from around the area thatare just on this case and like they
have great takes on it and Ienjoy watching their videos. But we kind
of just we had Catherine, she'sa lawyer. Were sticking with her because
we want more of a law typeof thing. But like I think everyone
has good opinions. I more havealways gone with the I don't care if
she At this point, I don'tcare if she did it. You can't
get vict her and I don't reallyknow what happened. Well. I like

(15:24):
Catherine too because what she the purposeis to come in and kind of break
down what happened the day before. But then more importantly, she takes questions.
Yeah, so many people have somany questions, legal questions that they
don't understand, and I feel likeevery question that's thrown at her, she
pretty much has an answer. Yeah, she knows, she's a lawyer.
Like they A lot of people don'tknow the law. We don't know the

(15:46):
law. Yeah, I think everybodycan agree a not the topic of did
Karen read kill her kill John O'Keefe. I think everybody can agree that she's
gonna get found not guilty. RightIf she gets found guilty, now that
is an in jail of the law. But this is the thing is I
have been vocal on this show manytimes where Billy's a little bitch about it,

(16:06):
where I have said things that morelead towards anti police and I'm not
I'm not anti police, but I'manti shitty cops. And I've been very
vocal about that when it's come tolike the overtime scam and like things that
have happened with you know, blackLives Matter or people of color or whatever.
Like, I've been vocal about this. You know my stance. I'm
not like a copsucker, but like, at this point, what a copsucker

(16:29):
that dude? Yeah, okay, but what At the same time, do
I think that all these people aresmart enough to do a cover about this.
They're all fucking dumb if you lookat I think they're all dumb and
drunk and drunk, and I don'tthink anyone knows what happens. And I
honestly, the longer this trial wason the less I know. First day
it was like they framed her.Whatever. I've been watching these soil they
are all fucking dumb as rocks.I can't believe. I don't know they

(16:52):
would know how to frame somebody. They're all fucking dumb. This is really
sad that the Canton police don't knowhow to do an investigation. The Massy
police don't know how to do itan investigation. I can't believe the people
that are in charge of murders andalmost because it is literally a poor showing
of legal whatever it's, it's it'sdisgusting me. The craziest part was the
proctor. Proctor's discussion was like exterestinghuman the way he talks about women,

(17:17):
the way he talks about the case. And at the end of the day,
John o'keef his family might hate KarenRead, they might think she did,
but their family will not get justicebecause of Proctor and because of the
mass Save police and because they can'tbe pet because they don't know how to
do a fucking investigation. If Ilife depended on it, and that's why
we are what we are, Okay. I think that the mc keeps the
mccabs the Alberts, Higgins. They'reall creepy drunks. They're all creepy drunks,

(17:38):
right, Are they smart enough todo a cover of I don't fucking
know. But what I do knowis that none of them should have been
partying like that. They should nothave been driving, they should have not
been acting like that as people intheir fucking fifties, like, grow the
fuck up, you know what Imean? All these things can be true.
Karen's a little crazy. I getlike the more like I think is

(18:00):
unlikable. But I think the Massapolice who did this investigation, I think
the mcaberts and the Higgins are morelikable, and that is why it's easier
to go for her, because theyare also unlikable. Every person on the
prosecution standing, they took the witnesses, all of them. I hate all
of that. Yeah. I wouldliterally never want to socialize the people in

(18:22):
my entire life and growing up aroundthis here. Bear in mind, you
every fucking towny that is stuck inhigh school? Do they not? Yeah?
Now, they're They're all unlikable, every one of them. It's crazy.
So anyway, the trial is goingto wrap up this week, So
Catherine will be back in tomorrow totake your questions and break it all down.
This has to be over before Julyfourth. Break. Yeah. You
know what I learned from the thethe watching the Trump trial when he got

(18:45):
found guilty, the quicker that theycome back. Yep, most likely it's
gonna be guilty. Not you meannot guilty, no guilty or is it
or is it either way? It'sthe quicker. It could be either not
guilty or guilty. Right. Yeah, I don't know. I just remember
on Trump that they were talking aboutit and they said, right after the
jury got it, and they said, remember if this comes back like within

(19:06):
this amount of time, quicker, that's not But I think for this it
might be quicker because it is notguilty. Yeah. Maybe they're all on
the same page. But you know, my dad, listen to this.
My dad told me actually this thispast weekend. He was on a jury
way back in the day on amurder case. Yeah, we were talking
without Karen Retroun. He's like, you have to remember this. He goes,
Okay, So I was on thiscase and we got the case the

(19:29):
jury and in deliberations there were likenine of them, nine or even ten
of them. That they wanted togo home. Yeah, it had been
so long, so they were likeguilty. But then my dad and someone
else and one or two other peoplewere like, wait, let's take a
moment and look at everything. Andit was a huge war and they wanted
to get out of there. Sothat could happen too, you know what

(19:52):
I mean, A couple holdouts.Yeah, I feel like at this point,
if there's one or two people thatlean being guilty at that point to
be like I want to go home, not guilty. I don't know how
you convince her of anything at thispoint. It's such a badly presented case,
like and I don't know what's goingon. I can't wait to hear
from the jurors. I hope someonetalks. Oh, they'll definitely talk.

(20:15):
And what if Catherine gets picked upin one of these documentaries. That'd be
cool. She could because she hasa popular not not from being on the
shows, her Instagram or her TikTok. Yeah yeah, anyway, Katherine's back
tomorrow. What else? What dowe miss? Whenne oh I went to
HOODI this weekend? Oh yeah, yeah, you said you liked the lot
I was really good. I loveit. Yeah, I love that song.

(20:36):
You know what. I knew thesong when I was younger, obviously
in the nineties, but post Alonecovered it, Yeah, and kind of
brought it back to the forefront. It's a great song, no, I
mean it was a great time andit was like a triple date, which
was fun. It was my brotherand my sister in law, my parents
and me and my girlfriend and Iwas like, Wow, this is my
life now. Yeah, from fuckingtwo well, hold on, hold on,

(20:57):
puck dude, yeah, pool data, although you could still do the
Hanks. Oh that's good. That'sgood. Anyway, we're back with a
brand new week. We will talktomorrow once the Billy and Lisa show ends,
you know, that is when theafter show begins. We'll see bye bye
