Wakem It gets my day going. It makes me laugh. I love it.
Mac and Schmitty in the Morning onStar one oh five point seven.
Well, good morning, Smitty,Good morning, Welcome into your Wednesday.
Thanks for doing it with us.Man who interesting interesting weather last night,
Smitty, that's one way to putit. Were you caught as off guard

(00:25):
as I was? Man, dependingon where you were in West Michigan,
you saw unbelievable hail. Our sirenswent off for a solid twenty plus minutes.
We're going to talk about that actuallycoming up at seven ten, because
I want to know what kind ofparent you are in an emergency. Because
my husband and I are two veryvery, very very different people. I

(00:45):
have a feeling where that's going forsure. But today not gonna be so
bad out there. We're gonna seethe sunshine coming our way this afternoon.
This morning right now attempts at themid thirties out there around West Michigan Heights
today load the mid fifties. Sunshinebreaks free this afternoon though, too,
so it should be pretty nice.It will be gonna be chilly, though
I don't want to. You're gonnasee that deceiving sunshine because I do know

(01:07):
we're still going to have that win, so best to make sure the kids
still have some decent layers for recess. And then we'll be sitting down for
a baseball game today because it isactually my wife and I's fourteenth anniversary today.
We are excited and we are goingto spend it as a romantic evening
at the ballpark watching my son playbaseball. Ah. Yes, so a
true parent anniversary. Absolutely movies, music, and all the gossip in one

(01:32):
place. It's the celebritiescoop on Starone oh five point seven. Well,
Sean Diddy Combs is finally firing backat least at one accuser that was a
big part of this federal investigation intoalleged trafficking by the rapper and entrepreneur so
Rodney Little Rod Jones was suing Diddyfor groping and other possible harassment and assault.

(01:57):
He filed this lawsuit back in February, just weeks before two of Combs's
homes were rated by federal agents.Well, Combs's attorney is now firing back
at the producer, who he saysshouldn't be believed in any way, shape
or form. Combs's attorney is pointingout that Jones himself was convicted of a
reckless homicide back in two thousand andthree, and besides that has faced multiple

(02:20):
assault charges that were later dismissed. As he puts it, Jones's lawyer then
sprung to his client's defense, talkingto Page six saying, listen, a
charge is not a conviction. Heexplained the homicide by saying Jones accidentally totaled
a car while he was driving, tragically killing his cousin and best friend who
were seated beside him, but itwas all accidental, saying this has no

(02:40):
bearing on what Diddy has done, well, even if it had happened in
a more salacious way than that. What sounds like an awful thing, right,
What does that have to do withallegations against you? People who commit
crimes can also have crimes committed againstthem, all right. Kanye West is
copping to the fact that he puncheda guy last week at a very high

(03:02):
end restaurant, but once again maintainingthat he was defending his wife's honor,
just like he's been saying so.The rapper went on the Download podcast to
talk about last Tuesday night at theChateau More month so that was the first
big thing. A lot of peoplethought this might have gone down when him
and Bianca sen Story were at Disney. He's saying this went down at the

(03:23):
chateau where he was alleged to havehit one of the Houston brothers or some
kind of bumping in the lobby. This is what he had to say.
My wife is walking to the bathroomat the chateau and then you know,
this guy just grabbed my wife.I didn't see it directly, and she

(03:43):
started just explaining to me what happened. So then I walked over and found
him. And then I'm talking tosecurity, different security, not just the
security i'd be with me, butother security, Like okay, let's get
this guy just escorted out something. And now I talked to the guy,
say I need you to just youjust need to leave right now. He's
like, oh, it's okay,it's okay, and it's like, no,

(04:04):
it's not okay. It wasn't okay. Then he saw it one okay,
I had to go to bed early, tucked his in. Oh he
went to bed early. Yeah.Of course remains a suspect on that battery
report as of now. The investigationcontinues. I know how the law works
when somebody else does something wrong, but then you just walk up to them
and punch them, like, Idon't know that, and I'm certainly not

(04:28):
a celebrity lawyer. Finally, RebelWilson says she once found herself at a
drug fueled intimate party courtesy a memberof the royal family. Yes, the
more excerpts from her new memoir havebeen coming out, and this time she's
explaining how last minute invitation to aparty back in twenty fourteen took a weird

(04:50):
turn. So she said, shewent to an unnamed tech billionaire's home which
was on the outskirts of la andthen, she said, and it took
a very very strange intimate turn. She describes the royal who gave her this
invitation as a male and fifteenth totwentieth in line to the British throne,

(05:14):
so somebody pretty far removed. Butshe still is not dropping names. She
said the party was medieval themed, but then it turned into a intimate fueled
romp later in the evening. I'mtrying to make this as kid friendly as
possible. The Pitch Perfect actress saidshe actually went to the party in hopes
of finding a boyfriend. But thenwhen the drugs and paraphernalia came out and

(05:34):
people started hooking up, she realizedthis was not the place for her and
bailed. You know what, shedoesn't have to cover for Prince Harry.
It's no big deal. You don'thave to lie and tell us may ye,
all right, all of you arecelib scoop at West Michigan Star dot
com. A fine points shovin. It's back in, Schmidty, let's get

(05:55):
caught up. It is your WestMichigan wake up here on stock. We'll
take the come off. With whatwent down on Capitol Hill last night,
the Senate passing a package to deliverninety five billion dollars in foreign aid to
Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.Bipartisan support for this, and of course

(06:15):
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer very excitedabout that end of things. We're feeling
really good. You know. It'snot every day you can say you made
the world truly a better place, but I think the Senate can say that
tonight, and I'm very proud ofwhat has happened. But language in this
bill also includes that ban on TikToknow passing both the Senate and the House,

(06:38):
saying it has one year to sellto an American ownership or it will
be banned in this country. Itnow heads to President Biden's desk to be
signed. Yesterday, the Justice Departmentsaid that it would pay nearly one hundred
and thirty nine million dollars to settlescores of claims made against it involving allegations
of sexual abuse involving former Michigan StateUniversity and USA Gymnastics sports doctor Larry Nasser,

(07:00):
who, of course, was sentencedto decades in prison back in twenty
eighteen by a Michigan judge after pleadingguilty to sexually abusing gymnasts for years.
While the settlement ends one hundred andthirty nine claims against the Justice Department,
who said the FBI failed to adequatelyinvestigate Nasser's conduct in a timely manner,
which allowed him to continue to abusemore athletes until he ultimately was arrested.

(07:21):
Acting Associate Attorney General Benjamin Meser saidthat while these settlements won't undo the harm
Naster inflicted, our hope is thatthey will help give victims of his crimes
some of the critical support they needto continue healing CHMIDDI with more on that
story coming up in your next scoop. This is going to be very emotional,
and I warn you this is goingto be some tough audio to listen
to. A Michigan woman arraigned yesterdayon second degree murder as well as other

(07:45):
charges after prosecutors say she drunkenly crashedher SUV into the Swan Boat Club in
Monroe County. Sixty six year oldMarshalla Chidster did not enter a plead to
the eight counts that she faces. The court hearing was livestarle dreamed. Chidster's
right arm was in a cast fromjust about the elbow to her finger,
something she says she sustained during thatcrash. This was actually the aunt of

(08:09):
two of those children that lost theirlives. This woman crashed her car through
this building, destroying all of ourlives, not just my family, everyone
else that was in that building. My nephew and my sister are still fighting
for their lives today. I hadto be the one to tell my sister

(08:31):
her babies were gone when they removedher vent later yesterday. It's really awful
to hear Chidster is being held ona one point five million dollar bond.
Quick look at sports Yesterday Tigers inRiley Green, going deep twice and having
three RBIs helped the Tigers to beatthe Rays four to two. Yesterday.
You're in Tampa Bay, Riley Greenlays into one sent her field a Rosaina

(08:56):
looking up. No chance Forida ManHomers in Florida. I shout out to
Jason Bennetti, the new Tiger's playedby play play call guy for that one.
Tigers zoel play the Raise again, third and final game of their road
series tonight. Six fifty white Capslast night winning over at LMCU Ballpark six
to two against the Lake County Captains. They'll play again today at noon,

(09:16):
Schmitty, And you'll be there rightabsolutely. Twelve oh five. First bitch,
all right? Sometimes does that geta good feeling? Yeah, let's
put a little positivity into your morning. In stilling a fan point seven,
MACKA Smiddy was feeling good and honestly, actually, this story I think is
not going to make the Florida Tourismdepartment feel very good. But the man

(09:37):
whose life was saved, he's feelingpretty great about things. Walter Rudder Friday
night, Schmitty, he was drivingin his neighborhood northeast Naples, Florida,
and all of a sudden he seesa wild scene, as he described to
Cleveland nineteen News, down there, this is unbelievable, schmitty. He saw
a man that was being pulled toa pond by a gator. And we

(10:01):
saw a man laying on the groundwaving his arm. We pulled over,
and I got out of the cornand saw that an alligator had him by
the leg. Absolutely, he wasdragging him into the pond. Yeah,
scary seed as you could imagine tojust be driving and come upon. Well,

(10:22):
it turns out that was actually hisneighbor, Rick Fingerret, who was
lying there. And Rick, goodthing, he was thinking fast. He
immediately told Walter, run over thegator. It was an eleven foot alligator,
and that's exactly what he did.Walter ran over the alligator with his
vehicle, which was enough for thealligator to let go of Rick long enough

(10:43):
for him to get away. Hiswife actually managed to cover the wound until
an ambulance arrived. They airlifted himto the hospital, and he is expected
to make a full recovery. Thanksto his quick thoughts and his neighbor's quick
actions. And as for the gator, they pulled it out of that pound,
out of that pond, relocated it, and animal control wanted to remind

(11:05):
every Floridian that this is alligator matingseason and crazy stuff happens. Humans don't
normally win guys. Maybe he waslooking for love, I don't know.
So this is really incredible. Thinkabout becoming a doctor or a nurse or
someone in a medical field, andwhat better way to get experience than to
volunteer in lots of different ways. And that's exactly what Porter Belfas is doing

(11:26):
at Helena Boss Children's Hospital. Porteris a first year medical student. He
goes to Michigan State University College ofHuman Medicine, obviously right here in Grand
Rapids and just down the street fromthat big blue building. When he's not
wearing his white lab coat, he'sgot on his purple volunteer polo. He
sat down with with TV and hesaid, when you start medical school,
especially in the first two years, they recommend that you keep an open mind

(11:50):
and try lots of different things tofind the field that you're really into.
There's nothing better than being able tovolunteer and see everything and he remembers his
first trip to Grand Ras to actuallytour the SECIA Center is when he noticed
the big blue children's hospital and said, wow, that would be such a
neat place to serve. And that'swhat he does. A few hours every

(12:11):
week. He shows up to doa bunch of different tasks, playing games
with patients, helping out in theon site library, his most favorite one
holding the newborn babies and being ableto watch the experience of people he hopes
to be. It is amazing beingable to just kind of see the doctors
and nurses at work and to kindof observe the care that they're doing.
And that's definitely something that I've beenlearning as a volunteer. I think spending

(12:35):
more time with them, I thinkit's definitely kind of affirmed, like a
decision to definitely have like kids someday, like in my practice, and being
able to care for them. Howamazing is this perspective, he said,
It's actually a wonderful reset. Whatevertroubles I have at school or tests coming
up, I realize it's nothing comparedto the battle that these kids are fighting.

(12:58):
Listen to this. In my eyes, there's kind of nothing more important
you can do than to serve others. Sounds like he's going to be a
pretty amazing doctor if you're interested.Helen Devas and lots of other hospitals are
always looking for volunteers. You canget info with Corwell Health and it's such
a cool opportunity. I forgot thatyou can volunteer to go hold a newborn

(13:18):
schmidty. Go sign me up forthat. It's a best feeling in the
world. Feeling good comes at youtwice a day. I always here,
He'll live some spirits tell you aboutsomething awesome going on, especially when it's
happening right here in our own hood. All right, we'll do it again
for you this morning. Nine totwenty staff, movies, music, and
all the gossip in one place. It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five

(13:39):
point seven uh oh. Either Tayloror the Swifties seem to have struck a
bit of a nerve with Kim Kardashian. She is ready for the drama to
be done. So I've talked alot about this. The song titled thank
You Amy spelled Aimee with the kI M in the name capitalized. A

(14:03):
lot of softies think was a distrack aimed at Kardashians, and she's over
it. Source is talking to Peoplemagazine telling them Kim has put the bad
blood behind her and she wishes Taylorwould do the same. This source says
she is over it and thinks Taylorshould move on and doesn't get why swift
keeps harping on it. The sourceadds it has been literally years. Of

(14:26):
course, this goes back to thattwenty sixteen feud where Kanye dropped a phone
call saying Taylor knew he was goingto diss her in a track. Kim
changed it up a bit, itgot really, really nasty. But Swifties
have also been going at Kim inher Instagram comments after she appeared on Kimmel
Monday Night and nothing was asked aboutthe song, including one Swifties saying Jimmy

(14:50):
one hundred percent was told not toask or speak questions about TTPD. You
know what, I'm glad you calledit a distrack, Shmitty, because I
would like to see more pop starsembrace with the hip hop game has been
doing forever, which is a greatHave you heard some of the Olivia Rodrigos.
This been around for a hot minuteKanye West has his sights set on

(15:13):
a new business venture. Not familyfriendly. It's all about the intimate industry,
that's right. A ref. Freezysays that he's been kicking around the
idea of launching his own adult entertainmentstudio and brand, and his partners are
already in advanced talks to get thisup and rolling. And who better to

(15:33):
talk to about it than Stormy danielsX husband Mike Moss, a vet in
the biz who's apparently been having somevery big meetings about exactly what this would
look like. In terms of whenthis whole deal could start happening, they're
hoping it could launch as early asthis summer, which a lot of fans
are pointing out might be why hiswife Bianca has been dressing in the way

(15:54):
she's been dressing. It'll be veryinteresting. I don't know that. I
don't think anyone is asking for that. After seeing what Kanye West did to
close, I don't think you wantto bring that weirdness into the Joms.
And finally, Beyonce, of coursemaking history once again with her highly reviewed
album Cowboy Carter and now we're goingto get a documentary about everything that went

(16:17):
down. This sounds so cool. It's called Call Me Country. Beyonce and
Nashville's Renaissance. It is streaming exclusivelyon Max and we'll debut this Friday.
Beyonce is the greatest entertainer of hergeneration. The global reach of this person,
I'm sure there's aliens who are like, you heard the new Beyonce.

(16:37):
Beyonce's country hit each number one onBillboard's Hot Country Song Shark. This is
going to be really cool. Theyhave a ton of experts in the biz.
They've got legends that they're doing interviewswith. So again, that's going
to drop this Friday if you've gotMax. Honestly, I thought the album
was so good. It's cool tosee behind the scenes of this whole thing,
and it's also weird how we're seeingjust so much more of the like

(17:00):
documentary in music going hand on.I think fans love it and you can
make some good money all of yourceleb scoop, including that full trailer at
West Michigan Star dot Com. I'mon in two it's Mack and Schmidt.
I gonna see Times shop into thefifties today with some sunshine breaking through this
afternoon. But man, last nightMother Nature putting out a show for a
SCHMITTI and was anybody else caught offguard like I did not. One of

(17:23):
the other shows I do is ona news station where we run weather and
traffic every ten minutes, and Idid not have any idea. I knew
we had the chance of some scatteredshowers, a possible passing thunderstorm, but
at least where I'm at north ofGrand Rapids, it was brutal, like
started pouring rain. Then all ofa sudden, the house is shaking with

(17:45):
wind, and then we got marblesized hail. Where I was at,
I mean, our lawn, everythingwas covered in these huge pieces of hail.
And then I'm sitting watching my paranormalshow, by the way, the
Unexplain Files on Netflix really really good, not great, when all of a
sudden, your tornado sirens go off, and I'm like, I'm sitting in

(18:07):
bed going it's probably nine thirty andI'm, you know, jumping online figuring
out what's going on. Blake Armsjust went live on wood TV and I'm
he's talking about Middleville, which isway further south, and he's like,
yeah, there's some rotation and watchthis. I'm like well, what's happening
in northern Kent County? And Isee people popping in the comments and they're
like, my sirens are going offin Forest Hills, My sirens are going

(18:30):
off in Colarville, My sirens aregoing off and hot, like I had
no idea what's happening. My husbandis next to me in bed, sleeping,
and I'm like, hey, hey, He's like what I said,
The sirens are going off. Ithink we got to take the kids in
the basement. He slowly rolls over, gets his phone out. He has
like some Watson driven weather app. That's what he calls. He calls her

(18:52):
Coatson like IBMS, Yes, IBM'sWatson. He gets the open stuff.
He said, Nah, babe,Watson said, refine, it's already gone.
I goes back to flute our sirens. I don't know about you guys.
Our sirens went off for probably sixto eight minutes. Like I am
freaking out. So I jump outof bed and I'm grabbing gear, which
includes diapers and wipes because I'm certainmy daughter's gonna have an accident if we

(19:15):
have to go on the basement.I've got some foods, snags. They
grab water, bottles. I'm like, what are we doing here? How
am I the doomsday prepper? AndChris is like, what are you doing?
I said, the sirens are stillgoing off. He's like, I'm
not getting the kids up, andI was like, well what. He
goes this house perfectly sound, it'sfine. If anything is gonna maybe take
a couple of trees out. Howare we so different in a state of

(19:38):
emergency? I just and by thistime my daughter has woken up from the
noise, so she's freaking out, which then wakes my son up, who
talks to me for seventeen minutes abouthow they do tornado drills at their school.
They're prepared, and I'm just likethis whole time, Chris has gone
back to bed, like just absolutelyhad no I was up with the kids

(20:00):
like super late, trying to calmhim down, get him back to bed.
My husband, sure, nine hoursof beauty sleep. He's the calm
in the storm, Schmidty. Heis calm when you're like sedated and don't
actually care. We're so different inemergency situations. It's hilarious. Honestly,
I thought you were you know, you were going into this to tell me

(20:21):
that Chris was like, hey, sirens are going off. Better to be
safe for everybody and go downstairs. And you were like, you, guys,
don't have to wake up at threeo'clock in the morning. Mama's sleeping.
I was responsible, and you knowwhat, I just wanted to look
at him and be like, whatif I told you that I left the
garage door open and all your fishingrods we're gonna pull away? It's an
emergency. You'd see the cloud ofdust where his body used to be.

(20:42):
Are you like so different from yourpartner when it comes to any kind of
emergency. I just go to worstcase scenario every time. Shall does?
That's I think a mom thing todo. You just feel like, oh,
I better check all the boxes andmake sure everything is set and plan
for the fact that we may beunderground for the next five years. I'm
just trying to keep everybody calm overhere. You wake me up if anything

(21:03):
really happens here, guys. Iwas like, unblievable. What did it
look like outside your house last night? Four? One, five seven?
Did you go in the basement? Were you the one in charge of the
kids? You are not alone thoughin obviously and being totally caught off guard
by it and being thrown off bythe fact that everything was saying, you
know, like Middleville area, Middlevillearea, and yet you were hearing your

(21:26):
sirens everywhere else. It was alittle disorienting. Yes, I think everybody
was with you on that. Smackand Smitty And every Wednesday we hang out
and share our personal failures as parents, just trying to make you feel a
little better with us all Smitty.Baseball season is here, so every night

(21:47):
of the week it feels like wegot baseball or softball practice for my daughter
or my son. But Monday nightbaseball practice for my son, and it
was just a night of batting cagesfor him. So the kids spent an
hour in the batting cages. Andat Last where they play is like a
you know, fifteen minute drive fromour house. So I drove them and
my plan was to just relax, maybe go for a walk at the baseball

(22:08):
field while the kids were inside doingthat, or just kind of chill out.
Instead, what I wound up doingis I turn on my book in
my car. And it wasn't verycold on Monday, it was like sixty
something, but I still I turnedon the seat, the seat warmers on
my car. I tipped that thingback, schmitty. And the practice was
from five point thirty to six thirtyand at about about six thirty eight,

(22:32):
somewhere in there, I'm hearing yelp, I am out. I am not
a light sleeper sometimes, schmitty. My mouth is the gape yeall to the
ground. Basically, as all ofthese kids parents are walking right in front
of my vehicle to pick up theirown children from practice, my son is

(22:55):
out and like normally I go inand grab him from practice inside too,
So he's like standing there for acouple minutes in the doorway, not sure,
and then he's like, oh,there's his car, and he walks
over and that's what he's doing. He's tapping the bat on the wind.
I wake up like I have justhad to jump out of bed in an
emergency. I think it's like Ithink it's like ten o'clock at night or
something like that, because I'm sodisoriented. Snap out of it in time

(23:18):
to see one of the kids momsstaring directly at me and just giving me
the eyes like you good bro,you okay? Over there? Dadsy counter
is like Dad, you were out. He's like I've been banging on the
window for like five minutes, andI'm like, well, I'm sorry,
Bud was up brill early this morning. Gotta get those naps in when you
can. But seventeen years during themorning show. This is why I listened

(23:41):
to rage against the machine in theschool pickup line, because otherwise I will
absolutely slip into rem cycle. Wellplayed. I gotta I gotta subscribe to
your newsletters, Minnie, seedies, music and all the gossip in one place.
It's the celebrity Scoop on Star oneoh five point Well. I think
it's fair to say Jelly Roll isone of the hottest artists ever right now,

(24:06):
but he is dealing with online bullyingso much so it has pushed him
to the breaking point, and hehas quit social media. His wife Bunny
coming to her husband's defense during anew episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast.
She's got some language here, becausethat's just how heartbreaking it's been to watch
this happen. My husband got offthe internet because he is so tired of

(24:27):
being bullied about his weight, andlike that makes me want to cry because
he is the sweetest angel. Baby. My husband doesn't show it to you.
Guys, but I'm gonna have avery vulnerable moment here. It hurts
him. The internet can say whateverthe fuck they want about you, and
they say, well, you're acelebrity, You're supposed to be able to
handle it. No the fuck we'renot. She says. He has such
a smiley, bubbly, amazing, infectious personality in public, but body shaming

(24:52):
hurts. And she says, contraryto popular belief, just because you are
a celebrity doesn't mean your immune fromthese really vicious trolls. Remember too,
he has lost over seventy pounds. He's been preparing for this five K with
a couple of comedian friends. He'sbeen working so hard on his health journey.
Imagine getting up every day signing onlineto see people just constantly dogging you

(25:17):
about something you're working so hard on. I'd quit too, You know.
The internet's an awful place for stufflike that. But even just in your
everyday life. I think of youknow, an artist like himself, for
like Lizzo, where even when you'rejust absolutely on top of the music world,
your songs are crushing it. Everyoneloves your music people still even when
they're not doing it in the meanway are constantly bringing up your weight,

(25:37):
wats your weight? Your well onlyso many times that you can say,
well, it's there insecurity, notyours. It's still really mean and it
hurts all right. Anne Hathaway hasclaimed she once had to make out with
ten different men for a chemistry testas she was screening to audition for movies,
but which movie remains a mystery, and now the casting director for the

(25:59):
print Says Diaries is saying, oh, it wasn't us. It wasn't us
at all. So some fans havespeculated this after Anne told the magazine that
the chemistry read was for a projectback in the two thousands. Of course,
this huge movie for her was twothousand and one where she did kiss
two of her co stars on screen. And it's a very cringey interview and
she's like, I had to kissten different dudes. That doesn't seem right.

(26:22):
Well. Donna Marong is the castingdirector for The Princess Diaries and said
no one, including Anne, everhad to participate in auditions where any two
actors had to make out with partnersin order to test their on screen chemistry.
She says, actually, none ofthe movies I have ever done,
would have this happened, or wouldthink that this was okay. There's a

(26:42):
few other casting directors, including BrokeBack Mountain that also was saying no,
it wasn't ours because this is sucha gross thing to think about. So
we still don't know what movies shewas talking about. And I'm sure those
people don't want it to get out. I mean, there's lots of weird
things about this. A I guessthe part of me doesn't. I'm not
surprised that you would do on screenchemistry truest whether or not you need tongue

(27:03):
kissing in order to do that, but like, what do you got them
lined up? Like? Okay, next, now, let's see how you
do with this guy, Like, hey, how uncomfortable is that if you're
any of the guys who are allthere at the same time too? And
then to think of Anne and howshe feels about that as well, also
worth pointing out, like twenty whenshe was nineteen. Ah, yes,
that's even worse, right, well, all right. Finally, victims of

(27:25):
disgraced former Team USA doctor Larry Nasserwill receive a massive one hundred and thirty
eight point seven million dollars payout fromthe DOJ. The big announcement was made
yesterday. They'll be paying one hundredand thirty nine victims because the Department of
Justice concluded the FBI failed to conductthe thorough investigation of Nasser, something we

(27:47):
heard from so many gymnasts that actuallytestified, including Olympian Kayla Maroney. What
is the point of reporting abuse ifour own FBI agents are going to take
it upon themselves to bury that reportin a drawer. Yeah. Acting Associate
ag said these allegations should have beentaken seriously from the outset, and they
hope that the victims of his crimeswill be able to get some critical support

(28:11):
that they need to continue healing. So Landmark, Landmark Judgment. All of
you are celebsco. But at WestMichigan Star dot Com it's Mack and Schmidty
and it is time to throat downBattle of the sex is could land you
at the Griffins first home playoff gameof this year, first time Griffin's been
in the playoffs since twenty nineteen.SHMITTI, Yeah, this is so cool.

(28:32):
They're going to take on the RockfordIce Hogs at Vanandel one week from
tonight, So you score tickets ifyou get today's number one answer. One
hundred men surveyed. If they madea judge Judy doll, what would it
come with? You know, schmitdiOne thing that they can't give the judge
Judy dell to make it accurate. You can never pack enough attitude into that
doll, Schmidty to make it anactual judge duty. I'd be interested to

(28:53):
see how they did her hair.Judge Judy had some legendary hair six one,
six, four or five eight, one oh five seven. One hundred
men surveyed. If they made ajudge Judy doll, what would it come
with? Could be headed to theGriffins next week? Call our seven first
chance? Four five eight, oneoh five seven? Good morning star?

(29:17):
Who's this Tanya? Tanya? Howare you this morning? I'm great?
How are you doing well? Whereare you calling us from today? Good?
Rep? Michigan on my work rightnow? All right, Tanya?
Where do you work? You wantto shout them out? Oh? Shut
out to the green Apple pantry Appleforty third in Kalamazoo, the best place
to be. Hey, love thatman, You're you're smiling at work today.

(29:38):
That makes me happy. All right, Let's see if we can get
you hooked up here with some Griffinsplayoffs tickets, Tanya, you gotta tell
me. One hundred men were askedif they made a judge Judy doll name
something that it's gonna come with. The robe, the robe, the gown.
Yeah, I mean you kind ofhave to have the robe to you
know, pull off the whole judgething. But that's actually the number two

(30:00):
answered Tanya. I'm sorry it wasthe other thing you need is a judge
high star. Who's this? Mara, Maara? Good more to Maa.
How are you today doing? Well? Let's see if we can get you
hooked up with these Griffins playoff tickets. One hundred men were asked if they
made a judge Judy doll name somethingthat might come with. And I actually

(30:22):
just got a great guess. Thenumber two most common answer was, of
course, the judges robe, thegown. That was number two, though
so not the top answer. Ipretty much think this gives it away.
What do you think you're going witha gavel? Well, it's like any
other action figure. You know,if you get a Barbie, it's gonna
come with the accessories. You geta Ninja Turtle, it's probably gonna come
with a sort or some numbchucks. And if you get a judge Judy,

(30:45):
well you know you're getting that gavel. That's the top answer. Yeah,
you're gonna go check out the Griffinsin their first playoff game at Van Angel
Arena, game two in their seriesagainst the Rockford Ice Hogs one week from
today, and you will be therewith four tickets. Congratulations, awesome,
thank you, You're very welcome andhopefully we'll get you in tomorrow. Another

(31:07):
Chance State fifteen Battle of the Sexis here on Star sometime. Does that
get a good feeling. So we'vegot a West Michigan athlete headed to the
NFL Draft in a different way. This is so cool. Good morning,
it's Mack and Schmidty. Hoth Collegetwo sport athlete Derek Smith is officially announcing

(31:29):
the Denver Broncos pick on Day threeof the NFL Draft, which of course
kicks off tomorrow in Detroit. Smithcompetes in both football and track and field
at Hope. But get this, using a prosthetic leg. Derek had to
have part of his right leg amputatedfrom a cancer diagnosis when he was only
six, so Smith was chosen tomake the pick on behalf of the American

(31:52):
Cancer Society's Crucial Catch program. You'veprobably seen that throughout the NFL season.
They've partnered with this incredible program. He talked with Fox seventeen about that moment
he got the incredible call. Iwas excited coming. It was in the
car, so I couldn't really screamand do anything, but it was just
a cool experience. I called Momright after and I said, Mom,
I guess your son is talking makinga pick for the Darnard Broncos. And

(32:15):
so we're I'm back and forth onthe phone, and so just have that
experience of just like finally getting tothe draft, whether I mean I'm not
get picked, but just to makeit to the draft, just like every
other young kid's dream I'm playing footballand then making it into the draft is
just so special, so special. So day three, when the Broncos are
up to pick, let's hear itfor Derek Smith out of Hope. What

(32:37):
a cool experience. Yeah, that'sincredible. This is awesome. You might
have seen yesterday they broke round onthat huge ice rink. They're in Holland.
But you know what, organizers ofthe project they're not trying to take
all the credit for this one.Instead, they're thanking retired west out of
a public schools elementary teacher. Frankcries Schmidty because Frank donated one million dollars

(33:00):
to this project, retired teacher.I don't know how he did it,
but Mayor Nathan Box over there hasknown Frank for more than thirty years and
said, yesterday today we're breaking groundon a project that will create wonderful Frank
stories for generations to come. Ifwe could get the ice ring project going
before he passed away, he woulddonate one million dollars, is what Box

(33:23):
said that Frank promised him, andthat's exactly what they did. Frank was
on hand there helping to shovel someof that dirt in the groundbreaking ceremony and
sharing why this was so important tohim. I see, this was amazing.
As a toddler, he was actuallydiagnosed with polia. The virus actually
caused temporary paralysis, left him witha permanently weakened left leg, so he

(33:45):
couldn't play competitive sports in school, but instead he embraced recreational sports like cross
country skiing, softball, and yes, ice skating, and giving those great
memories to more Holland kids is exactlywhat Frank told w ZZM. He wants
to see how how just some ofthe happiest moments from my left and I
thought, why most people have thosemoments today. Imagine that children who are

(34:08):
going to escape here and have similarkinds of trenches. That's one misliked.
That's what I think about, andthat's what it's going to do as a
lifelong Lake Shore resident, just tryingto pass on some of those great memories
to future generations. It's really cool. Part of the eight million dollar project,
only part of the huge waterfront renovationthey're doing there in Holland. They're

(34:31):
hoping to have the project completed bytwenty twenty five. Get this, Betty,
it's gonna be the largest skating rinkin North America. It's done.
It should be really cool. Bil, like it comes at you twice a
day. I always want to highlightgreat stuff going on, especially when they're
in our own communities. Just likethose two stories. We'll do it again
for you tomorrow, six forty fiveand nine twenty Every weekday here on Stoff
Mack and Schmidty in the morning, weekday starting at six am on Star one

(34:53):
oh five point seven
