(00:07):
It gets my day going and makesme lab of it. Mac and Schmitty
in the morning on Star one ohfive point seven. Well, good morning,
Smity, Hey, good morning.Welcome into a brand spanking new week
y'all. Thanks for sharing it withus. It's back at Schmitty And wow,
what a weekend. I mean,obviously Mother's Day weekend, Schmitty.
I'll go ahead though and say,for every mom out there, mother's Mother
(00:30):
Nature really hooked you guys up.Yesterday was beautiful. Yesterday could not have
been nice. Today was gorgeous.Yeah, Saturday for all the moms that
were outside watching their kids play sportsofMother Nature could not have been ruder to
all of us. Yeah, Ohmy goodness. I'd tell you I was
out bright and early down here Saturdaymorning because we had our Amway Riverbank run
broadcast and it was it was whendwas ripping through the buildings between downtown.
(00:53):
But you know what, not thatthat stopped the runners. Oh my gosh,
record's broken over the weekend. Somany people. I think we have
had almost ten thousand runners downtown. There were so many Mother's Day posters and
signs along the route. It wasvery, very cool. We're actually gonna
update you on that now that theofficial numbers are in coming up with your
West Michigan wake up. Yeah,a absolutely massive turnout for the River Bank
(01:15):
run. Love to see that forsure. And then, like we said
yesterday, it was awesome. Youwere all over town, including that very
last inaugural season game for our GrandRapids. Rous beautiful coming up nine to
twenty with feeling good. I'm goingto tell you a few parts of that.
It was a really emotional night lastnight. Something happened. I did
not realize what was happening, andwe said goodbye to one of our players.
(01:37):
So it's going to be pretty coolto talk about movies, music and
all the gossip in one place. It's the celebritiescoop. On Star one oh
five point seven, actor and comedianJerry Seinfeld had the honor of a commencement
address over the weekend that did finditself in the middle of some protests.
The actor comedian, who is Jewishand has supported Israel throughout its war against
(02:00):
Hamas, was set to give thecommencement address at Dupe University when a pretty
large crowd of people ended up walkingout of his speech. This is right
at the beginning as the university's presidentis introducing him. There. He's also
serving as our commencement speaker today. It's interesting you can hear pro Palestinian chance
(02:31):
there was also some holding Palestinian flags, as a number of students did walk
out. Just one of the protestsbeing held on college campuses across the country.
Worth bringing up though, as youcan hear some of the booze,
there were other people that started chantingJerry's name and were trying to kind of
drown out those that were against this. He went on with the commencement speech.
(02:53):
He did not bring this up whatsoever, stuck to the script and it
was a very good speech. Donot surprised me that he would absolutely crush
it on there, and also ignorethat this is going on. First off,
you're talking about a guy who's probablydealt with booze on stage before,
well, especially this, He's beenheckled for months now. He's nothing new
to this drama. And honestly, given these kind of protests, I don't
(03:14):
know who wouldn't possibly have faced thisin that moment. Steve Bouchemy punched in
the face by a random guy inNew York. I have been following these
stories for months women being randomly targetedand now is hitting Hollywood. This is
pretty wild. Steve is recovering sayinga guy punched him in the face in
broad daylight for absolutely no reason. The actor says he was walking in kIPS
(03:38):
Bay, that's a neighborhood on theeast side of Manhattan last week, when
he says, a dude walked up, clocked him straight in the face,
and then ran off. According toThe New York Post, Steve ended up
going to the hospital. He wastraded for swelling to his face and his
eye, but is doing okay afterthe attack. Says he appreciates the well
wishes from fans and feel sad foreveryone who's been attacked in that manner.
(04:02):
Bethany Brinkle, remember the Real Housewife, She actually left a comment for him
after she had been randomly attacked. He's just really really sad about the state
of New York and how this continuesto happen. One of my all time
favorite actors, and like, whileI recognize, I love the fact that
he could usually just walk down thestreet and nobody knows who he is.
(04:23):
This is one of those moments whereI wish he was a lister with security
because nobody obviously somebody did not knowwho they were hitting. Finally, it
looks like those Tom Brady roast jokesI was talking about last week that allegedly
had at least Giselle Bunshen feel insome kind of way aren't affecting Tom as
(04:43):
He posted some very lovely happy Mother'sDay messages yesterday, several shots on his
Instagram of not only his own mom, but also Giselle and even one with
Bridget Monaghan, writing, Happy Mother'sDay to these kind, caring, passionate
and powerful moms that I am solucky to have in my life. None
(05:03):
of this would be possible without yourlove. It's quite a bit of Hollywood
wishing their Mom's day. Very nicemessages that I have up for you at
West Michigan Star dot com. Sometimesbecause I get a good feeling, let's
dive run into it. It's feelinggood on startin oh five points, Yeah,
have a good morning to you. It's Mackett Schmidty and uh said.
(05:24):
The River Bank run had some unexpectedstars. Schmidty and I got to give
a big thank you to Tricia Girtza, who is the one who captured it
all on photo in video schmitty aseverybody's trying to get in shape these days,
apparently including ducklings. The mama duckanor baby ducklings. Did you see
them? You were down there allday on? So how were they at?
(05:44):
They were towards the beginning right here, I think near Fulton. They're
downtown. Yeah, they're downtown inGrand Rapids for the forty seventh annual am
Way Riverbank Run. They actually wererunning down the street with runners for quite
a while. And a big shoutout to the Grand Rapids Police Department officer
who's unnamed, but he did escortthose those little duck lanes all the way
(06:09):
down the road for quite some time. Pretty cool to see, but definitely
a cute part of the River BankRun this weekend. So, of course
yesterday was Mother's Day and I've gotto give a very personal Happy Mother's Day
to none other then Phyllis punk Satani, Yes Phil's wife. How perfect to
make the announcement that she is amom. Tons gathered at the punk Satani
(06:31):
Groundhog Zoo yesterday morning to hear thelong awaited announcement. The news is not
about the weather, spring, air, or winter's chill to little girl Sonny
and a boy Shadow. Oh perfectright, because, as we know,
Punk Satani Phil forecasts that spring basedon weather or not he sees his shadow.
(06:55):
Dan McGinley is the VP of thePunk Satani Groundhog Club, which I
didn't know as a job and Inow want it. That said, everyone
is just so excited about the announcementthe Punk's Tiny ground Hug. Tom is
thrilled that the whole town is excitedabout it as well as the whole world.
Yep, because Punk Satani Phil isjust as important to the world as
(07:15):
he is to me. Now here'sthe deal, guys. If you are
headed to the big party next February, you will not get to see the
kids. They said that once againPhil is the major forecaster, so Phyllis,
along with Shadow and Sonny will beat home instead of that big party
at Phil's burrow. But if you'remaking the road trip, you can see
them at the zoo. Spinny, please tell me the gentleman who did that
(07:39):
very whimsical introduction of the new pupswas wearing a top hat, top hat
cane the whole thing. Oh God, you're not allowed to speak for the
Punk Satani Club. There was likefour people in this interview and all of
them dressed to the nines. Ihave it for you at West Michigan Star
dot Com Movies, music and allthe gossip in one place. It's the
celebrities goop on staf Are one ohfive point seven. Well, Taylor Swift's
(08:03):
man, Travis Kelsey, back tojetting around the world to meet up with
his girlfriend, making it to herParis show last night. Of course,
Taylor kicking off that European leg ofher aristour The Chiefs tight End, making
it into the City of Lights, bringing some friends along. Very cool video
surface of Travis, of course, hanging in the VIP suite alongside Gigi Hadid
(08:28):
and boyfriend Bradley Cooper. They wereabsolutely vibing with it. I've the way
Travis dances. I'm sorry, Isay this in a very sweet way.
I think he is such a daddancer. He was up there doing kind
of we call it on one ofmy other shows, The White Man Overbite.
(08:50):
Yep, he's just doing like theooh feeling and feeling it. But
I'm expecting to see a ton ofother celeb friends that'll join her on this
European part. Swift. He's alsonoticed to how she had yet another outfit
change. She had this really greatred and gold sequence ensemble, which just
happens to be the chief colors, and there were multiple times where she was
pointing up to that VIP suite.I think it's interesting too that he's partying
(09:11):
with h He's partying with GG andwho was at Bradley Gg's boyfriend. I'm
sorry, but I know he's bigin the athletics world, but I don't
think he was hanging with a listactors like that before the whole Taylor relationship.
Well naturally, I mean, youknow, GG is like Taylor's best
friend, so it makes perfect sense. He's been seen with a ton of
the Swift squad, but the videosare pretty fabulous. I'll post him up
(09:33):
at West Michigan Star dot com.Olivia Munn is opening up once again about
further health challenges. In honor ofMother's Day yesterday, she became very honest
about motherhood, revealing she had heruterus and other reproductive organs removed in her
ongoing fight against cancer. It's aninterview with Vogue that was published yesterday,
(09:54):
saying she had to undergo even moresurgeries last month after the medication she was
taking made it so that she couldbarely get out of bed. She said
it got so bad. Her sonMalcolm was asked where does mom work and
he just pointed to the bed.She said, I could not stand that
he was thinking that I had tofix whatever was going on. I had
(10:18):
to up my energy. It wasespecially harsh after that hysterectomy. But she
also said that she doesn't feel thatshe's done growing her family, revealing she
underwent and egg retrieval and pros themso that possibly she can have more kids
with her partner, John mulaney, and she said that they have at least
two very healthy embryos, so itis a very bright looking future. As
(10:39):
she says that she's continuing to recoverand still feeling good and what a rapid,
just complete upheaval of her life theroller coast. Finally, the big
news, Disney Plus is headed intothe live sports programming world for the very
first time with none other than CaitlinClark. Yes, tomorrow night's WNBA debut
(11:07):
of the Number one Draft Pick willstream live on Disney Plus ESPN, making
that announcement as well Clark's Indiana Feverfaces off against the Connecticut Sun and then
the Phoenix Mercury take on the LasVegas Aces. Both of those games streaming
live on Disney Plus, also availableon ESPN Plus and ESPN two. Very
(11:28):
big deal. I mean, CaitlinClark and some of these younger stars coming
to the WNBA are just leading thisinsane resurgence in interest in popularity. The
WNBA is reporting that their phones areringing off the hook for sponsorship deals like
they've never experienced. They're also sayinga report this morning that the WNBA and
the Indiana Fever will most likely bethe biggest bet on sports team this spring.
(11:54):
As a nager, you can seethe announcement with your scoop at West
Mischig start off on hopefully, especiallyif you're mom. You're feeling grain tamp
at this Mother's Day weekend. Yeah, did you get the cute gifts and
the handwritten cards? I told Will, my six year old, I was
like, good on you man.My stick figure was looking spelt on that
car. Oh yeah, like youdrew me, skinny bug, and that
(12:16):
that is a gift that keeps ongiving. So I had a very very
busy weekend I worked a ton thisweekend, and then I got home really
really late Saturday night because I wasout in Grand Haven hosting an event,
and it was probably I finally gotto bed Sunday morning, like one one
thirty, and I don't know whattime it was because I was just dead
(12:39):
to the world. So it wassome time between like one thirty and before
the sun came up because it wasstill pitch dark out. And I heard
my three year old daughter, whohas the bedroom next to us, kind
of call for me, because it'salways us moms. It's never dead.
Was it an inherent groan? Oh? No, she never starts like that.
It's always not like away, it'slike joel awake, and uh.
(13:03):
I was like, oh, okay, babes, come come on in.
What's going on? What's going on. She'd had a slight accident, so
we've been potty training, and itwas actually her first one. She has
been. She's been dry overnight. It's been amazing. So I'm like,
okay, you know, no bigdeal, we'll just get you like cleaned
up. It wasn't a whole ton, It's great. She ended up going
on the potty wonderful, But thenshe wants to snuggle, so I bring
(13:24):
her into our bed. My husband'sin there as well, and it's probably
like one two minutes later, I'mlike, what is that smell? Like
it is a bad smell, andI'm like, dang it, if she
did not just go on that potty, And then no, she did.
She was dry, she was shedidn't have an accent. I'm like,
and then I'm like, Chris Grossgo in the other room and he's like,
(13:48):
it wasn't me. And then allof a sudden, right and we're
like throwing the comforter up right,I'm like, what is that smell?
Somebody's hot boxing and you're not surewho the culper was. He turned to
my adorable daughter, flesh and blood, so excited to have given birth to
this angel chair ub baby. Andshe looks at me with this devilish smile
(14:13):
on her face, and I wishI could catch it on video, but
I'm gonna do my best to likereenact it. She goes, I thought
it and you'll bid so like, and it was Chris died. Chris nearly
fell off the bed. He waslaughing so hard and I said, girl,
you that's really bad. And thenshe laughs again, she goes,
(14:33):
I thought it in You'll bid like, I don't know if there was anything
that could be more Mother's Day thanthat. Three am. Your daughter comes
in, she's wet her pants,You clean her up, you put her
in her favorite pjs, only forher to come in and drop something so
deadly like we changed bedrooms. Itlingered, What did you eat? I'm
like, you're three years old.I don't even know how you had that
(14:54):
kind of real estate. And thenbecause we're laughing, it wakes my son
up, who comes upstairs, andthen for the third time, Sophia tells
him, I fight it in yourbed. He's so, we were up
for like an hour having fart talk, and I just don't think there's anything
else that could quite encompass Mother's Daylike that one hundred percent. I mean
those are your flowers? Congratulations?Yeah, yeah, right, could kill
(15:18):
flowers. That's how bad I poppeda window. I was like, that's
and then, of course, asany mother would do, I look over
our Chris eyes like she got thatfrom you? Yeah, there's no way
whatever. He's like, I'm surprised. He goes on Father's Day, we
would have been celebrating this yeah, yeah, yeah, golf and farts.
That better be what you get yourdad for Father's Day. Points. Yeah,
(15:39):
but it's Mack and Smitty scouring theinternets for the most ridiculous stories.
Put them all right here, hereare the facts. But human torch was
denied at bankload a Smitty. Thosesweek's most ridiculous headlines kick us off.
They Cincinnati man has bought a ConeyIsland water slide. When asked what he
(16:00):
plans to do and why he boughtthe silver bullet, he simply said,
I thought why not? Godbye, sped. A woman knits full scale boyfriend
doll that looks like Jason Momoa. An Ohio woman has knitted a Jason Momoa
doll that has gained so much popularityshe plans on selling them for five hundred
(16:21):
bucks, so they'll say, geton Etsy. Also five hundred that's too
low, girl, that's too low. In unrelated news, Jason Momoa files
restraining order against a woman he hasnever met before. Godbye. A Star
Wars fan won the Big Lottery inMassachusetts on none other than May the fourth.
Somewhere, my husband is sobbing becausethat's got to be the peak of
his life as a Jedi want tobe godbite spent a man on fifth trip
(16:47):
across the country on horse drawn carriage. Ye, sixty three year old man
named Lee Horslagger. Here's the thing, now, sixty three, I've seen
how this story ends, and it'sdysentery or a snake bite. I'm pretty
sure, schmitty. Okay, thisis a rough one, but I had
to do it. Remember that viraldress from ten years ago where the Internet
was fighting over whether it was whiteand gold or black and blue. It
(17:10):
was white and gold. Yeah.Well, the husband just got put in
prison for trying to strangle his wife, the owner of that dressed. So
I'm not saying that the internet conspiracytook over their relationship. I'm just saying
we don't need to be strengthening people. Good Bye. She made the American
woman naps in planes overhead bin. This video has gone viral of a woman
on his Southwest flight, uh,where she's stretched out in the luggage bin,
(17:34):
just chilling, just napping it upin there. I'm personally that all
heroes wear capes and explain to mehow you fold yourself that way, because
I'm about to do the same.Southwest airlines does let you choose your seat
ad bite. That's this week's headlines. You see any great ones out there?
Said them our way always that's WestMichigan Star. It's that's a celebritiescoop
(17:56):
on Star one oh five point sevenOh Taylor Swift fans and not impressed by
this. The pictures over the weekendgoing viral from one of her Paris shows
showing a fellow Swifty with their infantlying on the floor of the Paris arena
where Taylor was performing. It wasposted by a woman who says she was
(18:18):
at the Friday night show and thiswas in the standing room section where she
spotted the child. It shows thebaby lying on what appears to be like
a feathered boa or jacket as somekind of adult stands over them. We're
not sure if that's a parent ora guardian. Everyone asking similar questions.
First of all, why are youbringing an infant to a concert with more
(18:40):
than forty five thousand screaming fans? And why are you putting your baby on
the floor now? The woman saidthe child seemed to have some kind of
ear protection, but her caption readnot to be one of those people,
but I would genuinely call security ifI saw a baby in the pit.
It is not safe there, letalone a baby laying on the floor of
(19:06):
the pit. That's insane. It'sa European thing. Schmitty. Wait till
the Swifty tour gets over to theScandinavian countries. They'll leave the babies outside
in strollers rather. That's fine.I'm fine with that. A baby laying
on the floor of an arena pitat a Taylor Swift show, did she
have to pay for a ticket?Come on, this is the cord Park.
I wonder if Taylor is actually goingto address this. I've put the
(19:29):
picture up for you at West MichiganStar dot com. Britney Spears with another
very oddly cryptic post over the weekendtalking about her grandfather. So she posted
some throwback pics alongside her grandpa,June Spears Senior, who actually passed away
back in twenty twelve. She wrotea caption that said, the past too
(19:51):
man. I dated sent me listsof things their children wanted and they wanted
me to buy them. I wonderwhat it would have been like to feel
like parents have their whole lives beingtaken care of. So here's the thing.
We learned a lot about her grandpaJune when she published her memoir The
Woman in Me. June actually hadhis first two wives confined to an asylum.
(20:15):
Jeanne was one of those wives whowas actually put on lithium when she
was in a psychiatric hospital. It'sall very, very similar to Britney's conservatorship
under her father. She's also talkedabout what her father went through at the
hands of her grandpa, giving exampleslike he would make Jamie exercise long past
the point of exhaustion, and Brittanyhas alluded in the past to the fact
(20:37):
that she felt her father was justkind of repeating the same behavior with her.
It's a really uncomfortably sad post andcan be looked at, of course,
like all Britney things, from multipleangles of Yes, this is a
a something repeating itself. Well maybefrom the other side too, Maybe there's
something hereditary in terms of mental illnessin that family as well. All Right,
(21:00):
Finally, MTV will not be celebratingall of pop culture this year.
It was just announced the MTV Movieand TV Awards have been scrapped for twenty
twenty four, but the network saysit is not canceled forever. They're simply
saying the events been put on pausethis year, the network choosing to skip
out on it, but plans toreturn in twenty twenty five with an updated
(21:22):
format. No real clear reason whythey're passing on the Awards show this year.
A lot of people think maybe thesag after a strike had a big
part of it where there just wasnot enough content because of it. But
either way, not happening this year. Perhaps it's because an entire generation of
children would just add the same responseto this. I'm sorry, MTV,
what's that? Well, you gota barmount plus you can stream it live,
(21:45):
right, but yeah, all ofyour celeb scoop at West Michigan Star
dot com. We got a littlefine points. Yeah, but it's Mack
and Schmidty and I know all ofWest Michigan is jacked for our Grand Rapids
Griffins gearing up for their second roundof the ahl PL layoffs, looking for
a Calder Cups. Maybe, oh, this is major and now we know
who they're going to be taking on, the Milwaukee Admirals. This is gonna
(22:07):
be quite the rivalry. It's goingto be an incredible game to watch.
Wednesday, May twenty second. Sothis is next Wednesday, Game three at
Vanandel Battle of the Sexes scores youtickets. One hundred men surveyed. Name
a teenager's favorite pop? Ooh,I mean in twenty twenty four, it's
not a pop, it's a prime, right you just I was gonna say,
(22:30):
I don't know pop energy drinks,Yeah, and it terrifies me.
But pop, I don't have anyclue what that would be. What was
it for you when you were akid. Did you listen to name is
now Doctor Pepper? Oh? Yeah, you were a twelve flavors. So
if I go to a place that'squite bougie, I do dig a good
mister pib Oh wow, love youdo, mister Pip. You do to
go to some nice places. Ilike that. Six one six four five
(22:51):
eight one oh five seven caller seven, first chance at the number one answer.
One hundred men surveyed. Name eightteenager's favorite pop. You could be
seeing our Griffins in playoff action withstar Win oh five point seven by good
morning Star. Who's this, Jim? Jim? Where you calling from today?
(23:12):
All right, Jim, let's seewe can get you some Griffins playoff
tickets. Gonna tell me what onehundred guys like yourself, Jim, we're
asked to name a pop that isthe favorite of teenagers. First off,
we do need to establish everywhere it'spop, not soda, or we'll pull
your Michigan card. But Jim,what do you think that top answer was
(23:33):
there? Ill, that's a toppy. There a lot of them out there.
I'm gonna say Cherry Pepsi. Oh, Cherry Pepsi. Eh, you
know SCHMIDI mentioned Doctor Pepper. Ithink Cherry Pepsi might be like the closest
uh in the regular rounds there,But no, not on the list.
I'm sorry, Jim. Okay, thank you, thank you. Hi star.
Who's this Lydia? Lydia, whereare you calling from today? All
(23:59):
right, Lydia, let's get youhooked up. One hundred guys were asked
to name a pop that people liketo or excuse me, that is the
favorite of teenagers, and Jim justgave you the answer or the guests,
I should say, of Cherry Pepsi, which was not on the list.
So you got a shot in here. What do you think it is?
Mountain do? Honestly, I thinkkids who are mountain dew addicts turn into
(24:23):
diet coke adults. You go formountain dew teenager to diet coke adult.
It's a weird transition that it seemsto happen, But yeah, mountain dew,
something about it to the extreme isthe number one answer. Congratulations,
Lydia. Yeah, you're going toroot on the Griffins in the Calder Cup
playoffs. Yeah, it's gonna bean awesome battle against those Milwaukee Admirals that
(24:47):
we want you there rooting the Griffinson for all right, So you want
to be at those playoff games,be listed with us. We'll do it
again tomorrow. Get you into Gamethree next Wednesday night over there at Van
Andel Arena just after eight fifteen.Battle of Sex is every weekday here on
storm on a five point seven.Good morning too. It's back and spinning.
Opening out a fantastic weekend, especiallyfor all of you moms with Mother's
(25:10):
Day yesterday. But really, Ithink one of the most universal things that
happened over the weekend, especially inthis northern part of the country all throughout
Michigan, was obviously the Northern lightson Friday night. Mandy, and I
mean I think at one point theysaid you could see him even in the
southern part of the States. Itwas because there was a soul storm.
(25:30):
Yeah, I said, geomagnetic stormas I was explaining to my kids,
And honestly, I talked about thison Friday a little bit. I mentioned
like how cool it was that wemight have a chance to see them on
Friday night, and that I havenever in my one in my life ever
seen them. I grew up innorthern Michigan, in Holton Lake, for
you know, my entire young life, have been here now, back in
(25:52):
Michigan for a long time. Ihave never once in my life seen the
Northern Lights, and that still remainstrue. Yeah. I fell asleep on
the couch, both my wife andI sawn logs, mouth open like an
absolute orangutang on Friday, knowing thatthere was a possibility of seeing the lights.
And so when I woke up onSaturday morning and literally my entire timeline,
(26:15):
every news website in the world, everywhere are showing these unbelievable phone where
I was up at one am Saturdaymorning, I did not see them.
My little brother sent me a photothat was so who saw I came downtown.
I left for downtown at four amSaturday morning for the race. I
did not see them. I don'tknow where people were. So that's the
(26:37):
part I think is crazy is becauseyou know, this was the ones where
you could see them through your phonebest, like in some areas you can
see them with the naked eye,and that's what I always think of.
Yeah, but everyone was telling me, oh, no, you've got to
look through your phone. You gotto look through your phone. My little
brother was in Detroit, like MetroDetroit, and sent me the coolest photo
of the lights I think possible.I love celestial events. I try to
(27:02):
teach my kids about stars. Ilove this kind of sciencey stuff, and
I completely missed the best viewing opportunityof it that has ever been in my
lifetime. Why they have planetariums.I just put up a video on our
Facebook page at West Michigan Star andI wane hundred percent said hey to all
of you posting those northern light picks, You're doing God's work, Because I'm
going to be very honest, ifit's between going to bed early and a
(27:23):
cosmic event, one hundred percent ofthe time, I'm going to choose going
to bed early, so I'll justlook at all your socials and say thank
you. There's just no way sometimebecause I get a good feeling. Well,
we do it every single weekday acouple of times, give you some
juice to roll through the rest ofyour day feeling good right now and starting
(27:45):
on five point seven, it smagageMANDI Man, It's it's very bittersweet because
of course, our Grand Rapids Rise, our first ever professional women's volleyball team,
is officially headed to the playoffs, but last night was their last home
match at Vanandel and it is somethingI have been so privileged to be a
(28:07):
part of. When they actually approachedme to be the PA announcer, I
was terrified. I've never even pickedup a volleyball in my life, so
after a lot of googling and YouTubewatching, it has been one of the
most fun things I've done in myentire career, and I just really want
to thank the Rise for trusting mewith that. It's been so amazing.
I'm super sad that I'm like notgonna have games to prepare for coming up,
(28:30):
because it's been such an awesome seasonto watch these women play. But
there was also some really bittersweet momentslast night, because as sad as it
is to report, I'm so happyfor her. Amelia Dimatrova is hanging up
her jersey at the end of theseason. And if you had the opportunity
to watch her play seventeen years ofprofessional volleyball all around the world. She's
(28:56):
been playing since she was sixteen. She played for her home country of Bulgaria.
She's played in Italy, Turkey,Romania, Japan, France, now
the States. Her husband Dennis isone of the assistant coaches for the Rise
and it was a very cool momentto send her off last night rich tonight
the final regular season of her justsame my career. It was really cool.
(29:30):
Kathy George, their head coach, had a bouquet of flowers. Cole
de Voce was there. They actuallyimmortalized her with a framed picture of her
jersey number fourteen. It's just amazingand I loved what she said talking about
the end of her career. Shehas a six year old little girl,
Mishi, back in Bulgaria preparing forschool, and she said it's just time.
(29:52):
She feels really guilty about how muchtime she spent away from her and
it's been an incredible career. Twentynineteen, she gave birth to her and
she said a lot of players getreally nervous about having a baby and being
able to come back into a professionalarena. She said, but I experienced
it and said it's not difficult. It's actually great motivation because you know that
there's one more person that you're fightingfor, and no matter how tired you
(30:14):
are after a practice or a game, when you see your sunshine, everything
is fine. So she's gonna absolutelykick button the playoffs, There's no doubt.
But it's a sad loss because Ihave loved watching her play and I
have loved listening to you say hername out, Yauch. It's one of
my favorites. It's really one ofmy favorites. So farewell, Amelia,
Good luck to the girls. Thatfirst playoff game is Wednesday night and you

my wife's family members, my sisterand her kids, my dad and everybody
all come over for a big Mother'sDay brunch yesterday. But my kids got
up in the morning, didn't watchcartoons, didn't play video games. My
(31:18):
daughter started working on a card. When my son saw her doing that,
he did too. But these waswhat my daughter wrote, Dear Mom,
Happy Mother's Day. You work sohard for our family, and I appreciated
so much. You were always thereto help us when things are hard,
when or when everyone's down. You'renever scared to try something new. Here's
the corny part. When I growup, I want to be just like
(31:41):
you. Brave, strong, helpful, kind, smart, and so much
more. Happy Mother's Day. ILove Charlotte. That was so cool,
and then my son immediately followed itup. As my wife is sitting her
tears running down her face after readingit, my son's card master mommy in
the house. Yo yo yo,Wow, you survived me for a whole
