Wake up. It gets my daygoing. It makes me laugh it Mac
and Schmitty in the Morning on Starone oh five point seven. Oh,
good morning, Good morning. Intothe weekend, Eve, Hopefully it's feeling
good for you. Oh the emphasisyou put on a weekend right there,
really misleading. Love the weekending. But man, when you when you drop
(00:26):
the emphastiest, we're pretty much thereon weekend. That's how I'm That's how
I'm doing it today, y'all.Like if you're excited, you know,
get a little time off work.Whether it's still can't believe I'm saying this
looking pretty decent for Saturday. Especially. Let's start our celebration, our life,
movies, music, and all thegossip in one place. It's the

(00:51):
Order actress Angie Harmon opening up forthe first time after her family dog Oliver,
was shot and killed by a driverduring an Instacart delivery at her North
Carolina home. I had this storylast month. It's just absolutely wild.
She joined Good Morning America to discusshow awful the situation was. It's so
(01:11):
unfathomable to think that there is somebodyin your front driveway that just fired a
gun, and you don't ever forgetthat sound. It's been a wild story
because, according to Harmon, sheput in a grocery order for Easter Sunday
actually, and was talking to awoman she thought was named Merle, and
(01:32):
then when the instacart driver showed up, it was a male that did not
appear to match the name or photoon the Instacart app. Her family has
been struggling through this time. It'sa big reason she has officially decided to
sue Instacart. First of all,I think instacart is beyond responsible for all
of this, Like this didn't haveto happen, and you know the damages
(01:57):
that it has done to our family. Now, instacart has officially released a
statement yesterday saying, while we cannotcomment on pending litigation, we have no
tolerance for violence of any kind, and the Chopper account has been permanently deactivated
from our platform. That's an interestingmove because you're kind of admitting a little
bit of responsibility there, But atthe same time, she's right, it
(02:17):
is unfathomable. This is just aninsane It's horrifying when you hear the nine
one one calling stuff. I mean, her family is traumatized. According to
Angie, Avril Levine is rolling hereyes at the latest conspiracy theory that she's
not real and has been replaced bya body double. Have you seen this
(02:38):
theory floating around the singer songwriter. It was on the Call Her Daddy podcast
yesterday where a host Alex Cooper askedher about the wild rumor, and Avril
admitted it could be worse. Oneend, everyone's like, and then on
you look things, I'm same, you haven't aged today. But then other
people are like, you know, there's a conspiracy theory that I'm not Honestly,
(03:00):
it's not that bad. It couldbe worse, right, Like I'd
be like, I got a goodone. Yeah, she says to fans,
this is definitely not true. I'mme. This whole thing is just
dumb. But honestly, if youwant to keep spreading this, totally fine,
because there's way worse things out there. The body double rubers are always
interesting, especially when you put oneout like April Levine, because it's like,
yeah, what they're hiding her originalbody for? Tell me what's the
(03:22):
point of that one? And thisis going to be very interesting to my
HGTV fans. Terrek el Musa andhis ex wife Christina Hall are teaming up
for a new show. You'll remembertheir original series, Flip or Flop,
eventually ended because they had such arancorous divorce. Well, apparently they feel
(03:45):
totally fine about it now. Itwas announced yesterday Terrek, along with his
new wife Heather, and Christina withher new husband Josh, will be teaming
up for a flip off. Thisis gonna be interesting. I never thought
to be doing this. This isone of the refining moments in my life.
Thank you, Jadisney. The flipoff, according to HTV HDTV,
(04:10):
will put the new couples against oneanother to see who can find, buy,
renovate, and flip a house forthe biggest financial gain. I'm glad
HGTV is sort of fully jumped theshark now and no longer pretending that it's
about the homes. It's about thedrama. Yeah, this is going to
be terrible. This is like ifmarried couples can barely remodel a home,
I can't wait to see how divorcedcouples do it. All of your celeb
(04:31):
scoop, including that trailer with HGTVWest Michigan Star dot Com sometime does on
get a good feeling. Let's jumpinto it. Getting a feeling good on
this Thursday morning. Thanks for sharingit with us, Mack and Schmidding here
on Stawino five point seventh. Andthis is just really cool to see.
Grant Rapids native who passed away backin twenty twenty one after becoming a nationally
(04:54):
recognized and very respected NBA reporter, got honored yesterday right here in Grand Rapids.
I'm talking about Sako Smith Schmidty, who was a nineteen ninety graduate of
Grand Rapids Central High of course nowInnovation Central High School and attending Grand Rapids
Community College. Wound up leaving forJackson State, then graduated in nineteen ninety
(05:14):
seven, ultimately worked his way upuntil he became a writer in Indianapolis and
anna in Atlanta on the NBA beat. Wound up working for NBATV at NBA
dot Com, becoming one of themost prominent NBA reporters there were. Sadly
he passed away in two thousand andone due to complications to COVID nineteen.
(05:35):
He got remembered for his incredible legacyby NBA stars like Chris Paul, Dwayne
Wade actually wrote that he had alwaysonly had positive interactions with Seiku, very
very big in the NBA community, and they asked the city of Grand Rapids
if they'd be willing to honor him. Well, yesterday it was actually Sako's
birthday, and that's exactly what theydid. They have made a new section
(05:58):
of Auburn Avenue between Wealthy Street toLate Drive as Sako Smith Way. That's
the stretch of street that he actuallygrew up on. And his sister Misty
just saying how Grand Rapids was alwaysa part of who he was born and
raised here in Grand Rapids. Hewent off to do great things, but
this was always part of who hewas as a person. So seeing the
sign go up speaks volumes about hislegacy and that legacy will roll on.
(06:23):
She went on to continue to tellWood TV that we want people in this
community to see that you can makeit. We hope that no matter who
you are, you look at thatsign and you feel like anything is possible.
All Right. The Morgan family hasa big dream hitting all fifty states,
and while they call Grand Rapids home, that home and school looks a
(06:44):
little different. Morgan is mom alongwith her daughters Chloe and Sadie. They've
officially hit forty six out of thefifty states and they are so very close.
It's a journey that tons of peoplehave been watching. They're talking to
Box seventeen about how they can cameup with this idea, and it's a
bittersweet moment. Ellis said her sisterwas the true inspiration behind this. My
(07:05):
sister passed in her early forties ofcancer. It just really adjusted our thinking
of how we wanted to live andhow the inspiration she gave of just living
intentional, well, it's become veryintentional. The girls are loving this.
Of course, we all know thisday and age, the classroom can be
anywhere as long as you've got acomputer and an Internet connection. Sadie and
(07:28):
Chloe have gone to national parks monuments. With four states left to go,
that got hit Montana, Wyoming,Idaho, and then how perfect. Right
before Sadie graduates in twenty twenty seven, the family will be hitting Oh why
not so bad? Morgan and thegirls agree, this is just something so
cool, So we do our bestto kind of live small when we're here
(07:51):
in town, and so that wecan go big and explore and have that
intentional time with our girls, gettingable to get an nature and see things
that we normally don't in West Michigan. Man, they're really creating a bond
here too. Mom says they're lookingforward to eventually building on the countries they've
been able to bring the girls too. So I'm guessing that the West Michigan
Morgans might very well be the firstfamily to circumnavigate the globe together. You
(08:16):
got that story for you at WestMichigan Star dot com. Man what I
said to Benjamin, that's awesome.Feel like it comes at you twice a
day. We're always here to pickyou up, talk you about something awesome
going on out in our world. And we'll do it again for you coming
up today at nine to twelve, movies, music and all the gossip in
one place. It's the celebrities gupon Star one oh five point seven.
Magician David Copperfield is denying the claimsof sixteen different women alleging he engaged in
(08:43):
sexual misconduct or inappropriate behavior, andhe's claiming law enforcement has already cleared his
name. So the UK Guardian's USarm detailed the allegations after an investigation says
that it found three women accused ofdrugging them before engaging in non consensual activity.
According to the report, for womenaccused him of things like groping and
(09:09):
coercion into things, even some ofwhich they're claiming happened live on stage during
performances. Half of these allegations datefrom the late eighties up until twenty fourteen.
Some come from women who were claimingthey were under eighteen at the time,
some as young as fifteen. Arep four copper Field responded to the
(09:30):
allegation saying everyone that knows David willtell you these recent allegations from one newspaper
are the exact opposite of who Davidis. In fact, David has a
record of risking his career to helpprotect women from powerful predators. They say
The Guardian's characterization of David is abuseand discrimination, and says these false accusations
(09:54):
have only flourished because of the paper. I mean, it's wild to think,
what was it, fifteen or sixteenwomen? I'm sixteen. Sixteen women
then come from four late eighties tilltwenty fourteen. A lot of women to
just all come forward with those allegations. Travis Kelsey has officially seen Taylor Swift's
European Era's Tour. Remember she's gotthis new leg of the tour which a
(10:16):
lot of fans are going to gettreated to Tortured Poets Department music. And
he said, once again, hisgirlfriend just blew him away. It was
fun, It was a blast.I had a blasted Tay's show, her
new rendition of the Eras tour.I suggest everybody go see it. It
has her new Torture Poet Department afew songs, a handful of those songs
(10:39):
in the new show, which meansthere's a new segment of new lights and
new like dancing and new everything tothe show. So I suggest everybody get
out there and see it. Isabsolutely unbelievable. I enjoyed every bit of
it. Yeah, see you gettingthat marketing savvy from his girlfriend. Clearly
that's the New Heights podcast. Thelatest episode dropped yesterday. He also talks
about the dad moves that TikTok gothim doing alongside Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hoodie,
(11:03):
who were at that show too.Uh you know, schmiddie. Honestly,
I don't think she needs it.Fred like he's not really endorsing the
crowd that is going to be,like, you know what, Travis says,
it's a cool show. I guessI'm going to do all right.
Finally, the big Netflix announcement yesterday, We are getting a Happy Gilmore sequel.
(11:24):
So we knew that something was goingon. Adam Sandler actually appeared on
The Dan Patrick Show last month wherehe mentioned that they were doing some work.
I said, dude, we've beentalking about a Happy too, and
we're working on some stuff. That'sall I told, true, I said,
but don't tell anybody. Yeah,Shooter mcavin eventually did tell a bunch
of people. But Netflix posted onx saying Happy Gilmour is back. Adam
(11:46):
Sandler will reprise his iconic role ina brand new movie coming to Netflix.
That's the only cast we have sofar that's been confirmed. Of course,
the actor that played Shooter McGavin passedaway unfortunately, but it's going to be
really good regardless, especially if Adamis helping to produce this. Yes,
I cannot wait to see the continuationof characters going on there. Chubbs.
(12:07):
Can we have chubs do anything inthere? All of your celeb scoop at
West Michigan Star dot com. Goodone too, it's back and Smittie and
I honestly I want to get overto the East side to just try this
bad Oh no, thank you hardpass. But I'm really excited because no
matter what, it's going to giveus a new round of viral videos.
It was announced that famous Giant bellAsle slide is actually going to reopen this
(12:33):
summer. So if you missed backin twenty twenty two, the amount of
videos that viral showing grown people gettingabsolutely destroyed on this thing, I mean
(12:54):
heads cracking up against the bottom ofthe slide, between the speed and the
amount that your body was actually beingtossed airborne. Eventually the DNR closed it.
We gotta take a look at this, and they did a bunch of
studying and research and all that. They said the problem with the ride back
(13:16):
a couple of years ago was causedby too much wax. So they've removed
this before it opens this summer. They've got safety enhancements that are being made
to the guardrails. They have newupdated padding that's going to be installed at
the bottom. But there's a certaingeneration of people. And I'm pretty sure
I'm talking to the gen xers outthere that are like, man, it's
(13:39):
not fun if you can't possibly die. So what kind of throwback toys or
things you remember as a kid thatwould totally not be legal in twenty twenty
four, which you bring back?I mean, honestly, schmiddy, you
just look at these generations around now, and you poor kids didn't have the
waiting tetanus for you of metal playgroundseverywhere you look, some of them covered
(14:03):
in rust, fallen apart. Thatwas mine, Like the aluminum playground that,
no matter how much you tried inyour backyard, never actually anchored.
My swing set tipped over every singletime I tried to swing on it.
That was actually part of the allurewas how much you could get it to
tip back and forth without the thinggetting knocked over. I immediately went when
I saw this to two staples onplaygrounds back in the eighties and nineties,
(14:26):
and that was the Merry Go Round, which now they have dug into the
ground and like max speeded out andstuff, they have them in a couple
of classes. This classic before youcould get that thing going as fast as
physically possible you'd launch kids into thenext county coming off of theirs, and
then the teeter totter, just theold school teeter totter. Again, they've
(14:48):
kind of wossified it a little bitSchmitty and put like pads down and stuff.
See, I think it's more dangerousnow, you do. I thought
it was a catapult for children, because now like it won't you kind of
go all the way down. Butit's got more ten and I think you
can get way more hurt because you'renot expecting it to like trampoline back up
like it does. And you'd havethat friend who would jump off whenever they
would be on the bottom, sothat you'd immediately come crashing down. Okay,
(15:11):
how many of you remember the FisherPrice roller skates you had to keep
your shoes on. Two of myfriends literally broke ankles on these six one
six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven In honor of
the bell Aisle Slide reopening this summerfor a new generation of danger. Don't
(15:33):
sue me. I'm sorry, Cityof Detroit. I know you guys are
putting some safety precautions in. It'sback at Schmitty and these Thursday days weekend
Eve so we're throwing it back andit's time to play what year wasn't here

and of course we'll be doing itagain next week too. What year was
it Every Thursday seven forty five medies, music and all the gossip in one
(18:33):
place. It's the celebritiescoop on Starone oh five point seven. Well,
we'd seen a lot of Taylor Swiftand Sophie Turner hanging out together, and
now we know exactly why. Anew interview with British Vogue was published yesterday
where Sophie calls Taylor an absolute heroand opens up about actually temporarily living with
(18:56):
Swift along with her daughters amid herfrom Joe Jonas last year. She said
it was an extremely challenging time andTaylor was such a huge help. She
tells British Vogue. Sophie had reallyfelt uncomfortable trying to create any kind of
relationship or friendship with Taylor, giventhe fact that obviously she had a past
(19:18):
romance with Joe Jonas. But thingschanged when she split from Joe. So
she got to New York and ofcourse everything with the custody disagreement started and
she actually reached out to Taylor toask for advice on rental properties. Instead,
Taylor said, why you just comelive with me? Sophie tells British
Vogue, I've never been more gratefulto anyone than I am for her.
(19:40):
She took my kids and me,She provided us with a home and a
safe space. She really has anabsolute heart of gold. I mean,
what an incredible story for her tobe able to share now, you know,
and I love Sophie, but alsolet's point out the fact that she
came with a three year old anda one year old. So anybody who
is willing to take in a threeyear old and a one year old is
a hug year row. Are wesure it's not Taylor going? I have
(20:02):
a lot of properties in New YorkCity. Take your pen. Here's her,
all right? Jennifer Lopez and BenAffleck apparently on the rocks. There's
been a lot of rumor lately. If you've noticed, j Loo has been
doing some house hunting sands Ben.In fact, the celebrity couple hasn't been
seen together in more than seven weeks. Once again, j Loo was out
(20:26):
in Hollywood house hunting yesterday, noBen in sight. Apparently, an unnamed
source speaking with in Touch magazine claimsthat the pair just couldn't make it work
and are already headed for a splitless than two years after getting married.
In fact, they claim Ben hasalready moved out of their marital home.
They go on to say the writing'son the wall. It is over headed
(20:48):
for a divorce. But for once, Ben is not to blame. He's
focusing on his work and his kids. They will have to sell the dream
house that they spent two years lookingfor. While they'll never stop loving you
other. She can't control him,he can't change her. There was just
no way it could have lasted. This unnamed source quote unquote has also said
that Jalo's decision to release that AmazonPrime documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told,
(21:12):
which kind of chronicled her love storywith Ben, put a big strain
on the pair's marriage. I mean, they're like that Facebook couple. They
can't stop telling talking about how muchthey love each other and how amazing their
marriage is, and then all wegot a post about it? Are you
guys? Finally? The NFL isreacting to a very controversial commencement speech from
(21:36):
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Bucker soback on May eleventh, he gave the
commencement address at Benedictine College in Kansas, talking about a number of different topics,
from abortion to LGBTQ plus rights,to even the role of women,
which he spoke about saying, Iunderstand that most of you are going to
(22:00):
be very excited about your successful careerin the world, speaking to the women
in the audience, but I thinkthe big moment is going to be marriage
and kids. For my wife, she'd be the first to say her life
truly started when she started living hercorrect vocation as a wife and a mother.
He even used Taylor's swift lyrics fromthe Jewels. Tragically, so many
(22:23):
priests revolve much of their happiness fromthe adulation they receive from their parishioners,
and in searching for this, theylet their guard down and become overly familiar.
This undue familiarity will prove to beproblematic every time, because, as
my teammate's girlfriend says, familiarity breedscontempt. Yeah. Jonathan Bean is the
(22:45):
NFL's senior VP and Chief Diversity andInclusion Officer. He issued a statement to
people yesterday saying Harrison gave a speechin his personal capacity. His views are
not those of the NFL as anorganization. The NFL is steadfast in our
commitment to inclusion, which only makesour league stronger. You know, everybody
got treated to a speech from nineteenfifty two ru a lot, So all
(23:07):
of your celeb scoop at West Michiganstart dot com points seven. It's Mack
and Schmitty and always got to getthat first win under your belt. And
that's what our Grand Rapids Griffins didlast night, game one in their series

However, that's the number three mostcommon answer. I'm sorry, Tim,

your coworkers. It would also beinappropriate for you to have done as a

can you imagine having to spin thebottle and having that like land on your
boss or might get slightly awkward, not to mention, I'm pretty sure we
have to get hr involved here.Spin the bottle is the top answer.
I said, well done, great, thank you. Yeah, I was
(25:45):
gonna get worse with the second answer, strip Poker number two, twister,

least one person to be terminated.I'm guessing. Congrats, Ashley, you're

to say, if you have notlistened to the Boy Meets Pod podcast,
Will Fredell, who played Corey Hunter'solder brothers, aged like a fine wine,
(27:36):
y'all. I gotta say Ryder stilllooks good. But I did not
expect that nineteen ninety four of mewould eventually be a grown woman going.
I think Will Fredell would offer areally lovely life for me. That's too
good, you know. I askedthis question on Facebook, and man,

(28:23):
That's West Michigan star. Sometime doesnot get a good fee lead.
Let's do it. Let's put somesmiles out there. SCHMIDI is starling on
fine point seven Mac and Schmitty withfeeling good. So a big congratulations is
due to seventy nine year old VietnamWar veteran Vic Lyman, because he just
(28:45):
received his college degree from Oakland CommunityCollege and according to the college, he
is one of, if not theoldest college graduate they've ever had. This
has been a forty year ream forvick see Lyman served in the United States
Marine during the Vietnam War. Hestarted boot camp at only seventeen. Following
(29:07):
his time in the military, heworked a few odd jobs before deciding he
wanted to get abe applied science degreein culinary art. So he went to
Oakland Community College, where he wasonly one class away from graduating. But
life called I hadn't decided basically,you know, and I couldn't take care
of my family, feed my family, or I'm gonna go back and finish
(29:30):
this class. Well, I chosemy family over the last class. He
chose his family. That's when hewent to work at Coca Cola for more
than twenty years. But getting thatdegree was always at the back of his
mind. And that's why we livein a wonderful state like Michigan that has
Michigan Works. Lyman actually attended aVetrens fair where Michigan Works was connecting ve
trends to education opportunities. They heredhe only had one class to go before
(29:53):
he could get his degree, andthey stepped in to help Lyman. Receiving
his associates just a few months shyof his eightieth birthday, He'll walk across
that stage on Saturday, telling ABCseven is not a big deal. I'm
