Wait, cowa wakem It gets myday going. It makes me lab it
Mac and Schmitty in the morning onStar one on five point seven morning,
Smitty, good morning, Welcome intothese Tuesday here. And you know,
I mean you can tell we're approachingthat lightest day of the year, summer
solstice. Yeah, what is itthe twenty first summer around that timeframe,

(00:24):
because man, it was so brightthis morning, Uh, just after five
o'clock. I'm like, man,I can actually see outside already. This
is ridiculous right now. This scheduleis so hard because like it doesn't matter,
I never see it. It's alwaysdark at four ten in the morning.
Oh but you know what also wasthis morning? It was cold?
Holy cow, It's in the lowforties around most of West Michigan. This

(00:45):
morning definitely a chili one. Butthis day gonna start off absolutely beautiful as
we'll see sunshine especially early on today, highs up into the mid seventies.
I mean, pretty much a perfectJune days. Middy. Yeah, hold
on, Matt Kirk was gonna usethe word freeze warning and Matt forecast.
So maybe some of those overnight timesyou get a maybe a camping trip you're
doing something in the backyard with thekids. The next couple of nights.

(01:06):
You want to stay tuned just soyou've packed enough layers for that, movies,
music, and all the gossip inone place. It's the celebritiescoop on
Star one oh five point seven.Uh, we've all been there, right,
Ghosted by someone we were super excitedto maybe hang out with or go
on a date with. It evenhappens to celebrities like Billie Eilish, who

(01:27):
was just on the BBC podcast MissedMe and had a pretty awful story about
someone she knew for a really longtime, apparently deciding they were no longer
interested in knowing her. This wentdown just this past December, probably the
craziest one that's ever happened to me. But it wasn't even a ghosting.
It was like a complete It wasso fun. I was like, did

(01:49):
you die? You literally die?She was like somebody that I'd also known
for years and had a plan dayof on the phone making a plan,
this is my address, be thereat three. Never heard from him again
ever, never heard from it wasliterally it was in I couldn't believe it.
I was like, what a littlepathetic plan. It was pretty wild.

(02:15):
If you turn that to Billie Eilish, come on. But I did
think it might make you feel alittle better this morning, if you've ever
been cohosted, I was gonna say, how do you just do that to
somebody who's won that many grands.Megan McCain has nothing nice to say about
Jennifer Lopez. She is opening upon the Citizen McCain podcast talking about her

(02:38):
time on the View when j Lowas a guest on the show, calling
her absolutely unpleasant. I actually feelbad right now because I feel like there
is actually we're turning a point wherethere's like bullying happening to Jay Low and
I don't want to add to that. She just is a deeply unpleasant person
and had a hue. I saidthis on the Fork. She had the
biggest entourage I've ever seen, likeof a celebrity, more than Kim Kardashian

(03:00):
and more than the President. LikeI've never seen like it. And I
just don't really understand what why itwas needed. I just know my experience,
and I was a host at theView. It was not nice.
She was not nice, okay,And I'm like, whatever, you don't
always have to be so nice, but it was just surprising, given that
people like Kim Kardashian couldn't be moredelightful. And also when you're coming on
a show for like a ten minutesegment, like as myself is, someone

(03:23):
who's been invited on shows for tenminute segments, just fake it til you
make it for ten minutes, itwas not nice. And she even told
the hosts, I'm holding back alot of details. I don't want to
necessarily sound like a bully, butshe is not a good person. I
don't want to sound like a bully, but she is a deeply unpleasant person.
Is I believe the words that, which I think is even worse than

(03:44):
just being a bully, like somuch, She's like, this is the
nicest I can be. She wasextremely unpleasant to be around. This is
the nicest I can be. JLo's an awful human being, all right,
And then really wonderful news and updateon Michael Strahan's daughter Isabella, who
has officially completed her final round ofchemotherapy. She posted this to her TikTok,

(04:10):
her and her twin sister Sophia dancingin the hospital while she's wearing a
gold crown with a black tank andmatching lounge pants. She looks healthy,
she looks happy. This is avery big deal. Remember, Isabella was
diagnosed with Medullo blastoma back in Octoberof twenty twenty three, absolutely shocking diagnosis.

(04:30):
She had just gotten to college. She underwent emergency surgery followed by two
additional procedures. She's been documenting allof this on her YouTube channel. So
this is just a really really bigstep for her. And she looks so
happy. I mean it gotta bejust pure joy for Michael and the whole
Strayhan family right now to hear thatnews, Oh of your celebscoo. But
West Michigan Star dot com. SometimesI get a good feeling stowing a fine

(04:58):
point seven is back. She's beenhe always looking to bring a little light
into your morning with feeling good rightnow and this is cool as a West
Michigan Korean War veteran, ninety yearold Bob Bottom just got an accomplishment kicked
off his bucket list that he hadbeen waiting for for quite some time.
See, he's accomplished a lot inhis ninety years, but he's missed down
in a couple of key life momentsBecause when he was on track to graduate

(05:21):
high school back in nineteen fifty one. He wound up having to drop out
as a teenager and had to workand to support his family. That at
nineteen years old, like so manyother young men around that time, he
got drafted into the army and thenlife happened. He got married, he
raised four kids, and he didn'treally look back working at a paper mill
for more than forty years right herein West Michigan. Well, he was

(05:42):
he was having breakfast with his daughter, and you know, she was just
talking to him about what his bucketlist items were, and he said,
I wish I had graduated, andI wish I had gone to prom.
Well, she said that she sawthe desire in his eyes when they talked
about it before his life was over. I wanted to make sure we got
to enjoy those things. Well that'sexactly what wound up happening. Bob actually

(06:04):
went to a senior prom at theSenior Center just earlier this year. Check
that it him off the bucket list, and next up it was Portage Public
Schools who stepped up last night tomake another one of Bob's bucket list items
that he is so rightfully earned cometrue as at the board of at the
excuse me, at their big boardmeeting for Portage Public Schools, they surprised

(06:26):
Bob with an honorary diploma on thehalf of the Order of Education from the
schools here. Please not send youwith the deforment. Thank you, thank
you, you're well, that's right. More than seventy years later, Bob
gets that diploma from Portage Public Schools, friends and family on hand, their

(06:48):
board member Keith Crowell saying that, you know, up until this point,
I would say it was a splendidgraduation season, but this tops it all.
I'm glad we got to do that. So honoring one of our local
friends this way, such a daughterin law too to do that. All
right. So if you're gonna bewatching the Paris Olympics this summer, hopefully
you'll be seeing Fred Richards. He'san Olympian out of the University of Michigan

(07:12):
who is really hoping to make thesummer Games. But while you might think
it's so he can bring home abunch of gold medals, not necessarily the
case. See, Richards' entire missionis to just grow the sport, and
he does that in pretty fantastic ways. He's already proven himself. Last summer
he won the all around bronze atthe Worlds in Belgium. He was only

(07:35):
nineteen. This is a big dealfor him. So I feel like a
lot of people's dreams are like, you know, get gold at this Olympics
or do this success. But Ifeel like those are stepping stones. I
feel like my biggest goal is kindof to change his sport. I want
to bring way more people to thesport. I want the sport to be,
you know, seen on the levelof the big sports at basketball,

(07:55):
football. So here's the thing aboutRichards, it's his showmanship. In fact,
he posts so many wildly creative videosto his TikTok and Instagram he has
more than half a million followers, even challenging Simone Biles to a who does
it better contest that has gone viral. He tells Wood TV where all of

(08:16):
that creativity comes from. It's thegym. Okay, when I'm at Michigan,
I jump in the pit in thegym. It's dark down there,
and I'm just there with my thoughtsfor like thirty minutes. It's just a
brainstorm session, and I just thinkof some crazy stuff that's true, and
he says, really honestly, thereason he wants to be on this world
stage is to get more people intothe sport. Until then, he is

(08:37):
going to continue pushing those creative limits. Got the story for you at West
Michigan Star dot com Movies, musicand all the gossip in one place.
It's the celebrities gooop on Star oneoh five point seven. A little bit
of a dicey fall for Carrie Underwoodcapt offer concert with hopefully nothing too serious.

(08:58):
She was headlining a performance at theCare Airline, a country music fest
in Myrtle Beach. It was anincredible show, but as she was leaving
the stage, fans noticed what lookslike her falling through a hole. You
can hear the audience like, ohshe fell, Oh my gosh, I
mean, it looks pretty rough. She didn't really officially address it, but

(09:18):
she did post a bunch of picturesfrom the show yesterday and said, hey,
last night was fun. Even thoughthe ending was quite unexpected. It
made for a night we'll never forget. So hopefully it seems like she's fine,
but it looked like a nasty fall. Inserting some stunts into the show,
I like it. Wow, thisdoesn't sound very good for Maroon five

(09:39):
front man Adam Levine. According toanonymous sources, not everyone at NBC is
super excited that he is returning tothe voice. The upcoming season, we'll
see Adam back in a judge's chair. According to one source talking to The
Daily Mail, they said, therehave been many changes behind the scenes,

(10:00):
but there are a lot of peoplestill there from Adam's time before and don't
like that he'll be returning because towardsthe end of his last run he was
cocky, super arrogant and extremely entitled. Sure, people get second chances and
maybe Adim will change, but ifhe remains the abrasive Adam we all know
from the past, no doubt theywill be getting rid of him again.

(10:24):
Honestly, I'll you expect them tobe back on this show for anyway,
right, Like he's only a coupleof seasons. Come in like a tornado,
leave like that. Yeah, allright. Finally, my most exciting
stories. This is one of mymost favorite movies of all time, and
yesterday it was finally confirmed we're gettinga practical magic was trying to figure it

(10:48):
out. There have been so manyrumors about this, Warner Brothers officially confirmed
the sequel to the nineteen ninety eightromantic fantasy. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman
are in talks to return, butat the minimum, they are expected to
executive produce alongside a bunch of theoriginal team. If you've never seen this

(11:11):
movie, it's incredible. It's adaptedfrom the ninety five novel. These two
sisters come from a long line ofwitches, orphaned at a young age.
They're raised by their aunts. Ohmy gosh, it's so good. No
obvious, big details yet. Wedon't have premiere date or anything like that,
not any real plotline. But we'regetting a practical magic too. That's

(11:33):
all I needed to know. Ireally liked both both of those actresses a
ton. I can't believe I've neverseen it practical Okay, we can't get
into the movies. You haven't seenconversations. Okay. If you want to
know how much I love this movie, my best friend and I did a
Halloween bar crawl dressed as Nicole Kidmanand Sandra Bullock this past fall. That's
how much we love it. Ohmy gosh. I've got some of the

(11:54):
teaser from Warner brothers for that withyour scoop at West Michigan Start, Doc,
good morning to you. It's Macand Schmidt, and let's talk food
at the barbecue, Schmitty, becauseI wanted to eat an all, but
you're telling me some of those thingsare a little dangerous. You want food
poisoning, go ahead and head toa potluck. How good is the potato
salad? So here's the thing Iwanted to talk about, because we had
this pretty wild interview with a doctoron my other show a couple of weeks

(12:18):
ago. We're talking about the summerdangers. I feel like it's nothing you
ever think about right away. You'relike, oh, sunburn, west Nile
tics, Uh, food poisoning.Very few people, I feel like,
actually know how to properly handle food. And I put this reel up on
our Instagram at West Michigan Star. It's like that moment you realize someone is
taking a scoop from the mayonnaise macaronisalad that's been sitting in ninety degree heat

(12:41):
for six hours. Boom, foodpoisoning. It's gambling for sure. And
I found this crazy list online ofthe worst foods you can have at a
barbecue or potluck, and I wonderedif anybody ever had horror stories like I
had a potluck like I went to, and I quite honestly very un Midwest

(13:03):
of me. I don't like potlucks. I don't like barbecues. I'm
very, very weird about eating atother people's houses communal food things. It
very much depended on the group, right. But also if I don't if
I've never seen your kitchen, I'mnot going to eat foods you've made because
I don't know what you're like.And it happened. I went to a
barbecue ones no, I was eatingyour plate of food, and then I

(13:24):
noticed this friend of ours had threecats just walking across their kitchen counters,
and I thought, you know what, I'll do it. Why that's I
mean, you're just like, you'rejust cooking food and your animals are get
alongside you smelling that one. Maybethat makes me bougie or whatever. If

(13:45):
I have not seen your kitchen orI don't know what you live like,
I'm not going to eat your food. It makes you food paranoid. I
think that's okay. I've had salmonella, and trust me, it is the
worst time. I definitely don't don'tdiscriminate against food in that way. I
don't take it that far, thatbeaten sedigemitddy. We all know that you
go to a barbecue and you seeall those dishes out. Sometimes you see

(14:07):
the potato salads like you mentioned, you see the potato salad is number two
on the list of worst foods tohave at a barbecue, Macaroni salads,
just your fresh veggies, all thatstuff. If there's not a bucket of
ice sitting underneath those things and you'reat our number like three four of the
barbecue, you are taking chances withyour stomach and your butt because those things

(14:28):
are gonna be lightly. I don'ttrust the ice buckets because here's the deal.
People put an ice bucket out andthey're like, we're good for the
day. Oh and then they nevercheck on the food again. I also
find like food outside uncovered, soyou got all the flies and other pieces
of mother nature. Maybe I'm justa bit of a germaphobe, but food

(14:50):
makes me so nervous if I don'tknow how it's been prepared or kept out.
Hey, uh, schmeddi, how'sthe barbecue going for you? You
know what I haven't had any foodyet. But I'm on my seventh margarita
and it's tasting greatly. And youknow what, I'm a cheap day,
that's all. You don't have togo and buy anything. I will bring
all of my own things. Igot a DM on our Instagram from Charles.

(15:13):
He said, I a raw meathidden in a cheesy crock pot dip
at a co worker's summer potluck, and I went to the er with the
worst food poisoning of my life thatthey hid the meat. If you hide
it in something else, that's all. That's a booby truss. There you
go, it's a meat booby trus. It wasn't hidden. They just didn't

(15:33):
know how to cook things. That'sthe and that's me. That's me.
If I cook, I don't.I'm not good with meat. I don't
use a meat thermometer. I amdomestically challenged. I will never What I'm
bringing to your potluck is probably chips, something packaged and full of preservatives.
So I know that you're good togo. That despite not knowing at least

(15:56):
ninety eight percent of the words listedin the ingredients menu, you're like,
at least I know, say ifthere's zero chance this is undercook. It
is gonna land me on a toilet. Schmitty's so salty well or doctor recommended
therapy, but that's too expensive,So we do this every week instead,
Salty Schmidty, right now your weeklyvent session or what it's got you up
on the soapbox this week, Smitty. I mean, I think a lot
of my less than fit friends willunderstand this. Exercising man. So I've

(16:22):
been trying to do more evening walksby myself. I've been doing meditative breathing
exercises because my life is at anew level of chaos. I feel like
I'm gonna fall off the cliff atany moment. And last night my kids
went to bed early enough that Iwas actually able to do it, because
that's the biggest hurdle parents, amI right, like actually getting time on
your own. So I did thisreally awesome walk last night at like eight

(16:45):
thirty. I had my music on, I was doing my breathing. It
was really great, only to beplagued the entire night last night by Charlie
Horse after Charlie Horse, because ifI walk more than seventeen feet, my
body's like, no, we don'tdo this. And here's your con sequences.
This is eight PM. I don'tknow if you know this or not,
but your body is supposed to behorizontal at this moment in times.

(17:07):
I mean, I woke up thismorning in worse shape than if I just
sat on my couch watching Netflix eatingcandy last night. Shitty, so salky.
Honestly, that sounds like one thousandpercent better than exercise in any way.
Shitty movies, music, and allthe gossip in one place. It's

(17:29):
the celebritiescoop on Star one oh fivepoint seven. Well, Donald Trump,
the former president, seems to bequite a fan of Taylor Swift. But
people are still talking about the veryawkward interview, uh that took place.
So this actually went down back inNovember when he was promoting a new book,

(17:51):
and when Taylor Swift was brought up. He said, I think she's
beautiful, very beautiful. I findher very beautiful. I think she's liberal.
She probably doesn't like Trump. Ihear she's very talented. I think
she's very beautiful, actually unusually beautiful. He then went on to question whether
Taylor is truly liberal or wondering ifit's an act, adding is she legitimately

(18:15):
liberal. It surprises me that acountry star can be successful being liberal.
Just kind of an odd interview acrossthe board. But the other big Taylor
news she will not be in thenew Deadpool and Wolverine. All swifties were
so hopeful about this rumor. Ihad reported this a couple of weeks ago,

(18:37):
but Entertainment Weekly did a bunch oftheir show out fronts yesterday and confirmed
that Taylor not in the Marvel movie, not joining Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds,
which is kind of a bomber becauseI think she'd be so good.
She would. But is she beautifulthough, SCHMITTI that's the question. Yeah,
all right, Let's talk more aboutthis wild Netflix documentary Dancing for the

(18:57):
Devil. It's shying a light onseven M Films. It's a quote unquote
management company that now victims are callingout as a cult linked to a gentleman
named Robert Schin who calls himself thepastor of Chicaina Church in California. So,
Miranda Derek is a twin sister whoused to be very big on TikTok

(19:18):
with her sister before joining this aleeged cult. Her family's at the center
of this Netflix documentary. She isspeaking out yesterday on our Instagram about the
dangers of this new thing. Nowthat this documentary is out, we feel
like our lives have been put indanger. We have both been followed in
our cars. We have received hatemail, death threats, We've been stalked.

(19:41):
Someone said that if I see youon the street, I'm going to
come and gut you, so youbetter get security. Someone also said that
if I see you walking on thesidewalk, I'm going to come and shove
you in the trunk of my car. So these are just some of the
messages that I've been receiving, AndI honestly, I don't underst how my
parents and my sister thought that thisdocumentary would help me or would help our

(20:06):
relationship in anyway. So that's howthe documentary really started. Miranda's twin sister
and her parents have been working toget her out of this. She's been
kind of a deep member since liketwenty twenty, and this is obviously not
helping to work on the relationship.Mere Thatly says is something they've been working
on behind the scenes a lot. It's a tricky thing, right, if

(20:29):
you think somebody's in a cult andthey're your family member and you care about
them, you're gonna try and getthem back. That being said, if
you're in a cult, you don'tknow you're in a cult, and you
kind of can't put that perspective ina p brings out very legally difficult as
well, thanks to the Freedom ofReligion Amendment, where it's very very challenging
to prove something like brainwashing. It'sreally wild to watch this unfold. Finally,

(20:52):
Bridgerton's and Nikola Coughlin or pardon me, Penelope Featherington is getting mad praise
online after this answer to a questionfrom a female journalist who commented she was
quote unquote very brave to play therole of Penelope, which a lot of
people saw as kind of a bodyshaming backhanded comment. You know, it

(21:12):
is hard because I think women withbody tied, women with perfect breasts,
if you missed it, she said, it is really hard because I think

(21:33):
women with my body type, youknow, women with perfect breasts, we
just don't get to see ourselves onscreen enough. So I'm just really really
proud to be at the forefront ofthis beautifully handled, perfectly shutting down that
troll. I mean, I thinkwe can all get behind that is that
not what Bridgerton is. By theway, the new second part of the
season premieres on Thursday. All ofyour celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot

(21:57):

eight fifteen again tomorrow right here onStowin' five point seven. Good morning to
you. It's Mack and Schmidty. And you know, it just happens sometimes,

(24:11):
but it's one of those things thatyour kids will never let you forget,
and maybe your significant other won't letyou forget it either. That's true
for my case. What is somethingthat was one of your favor or one
of your kid's favorite things and heaccidentally broke it, lost it, destroyed
it in some way, Schmitty,I actually haven't hit this milestone yet.
Well you will, for sure, but I have done it now multiple times.

(24:33):
Because it was two Christmases ago thatI first got my son Connor a
drone cool gift. We were reallyexcited for it until we got it outside
in December. There wasn't snow onthe ground yet at this time, because
that's how Christmases have been for uslately. And within an hour of having
this thing charged up and outdoors,I put it into a tree about sixty

(24:56):
five. You're tricky it would notcome down, and I felt terrible about
this. We had to wait threemonths until March Schmitty for that thing to
fall out during a storm, andlo and behold, it's still worked.
It was awesome, all right. And so then my wife, my son,
and my daughter went outside in thespringtime and within an hour of them
flying the drone again. Mind you, this is the first time my son

(25:17):
has gotten to use as Christmas gift. They get it lodged in a tree,
I get it down, they sendit back up, run it into
another tree, and it breaks doneze. So we were down with drones
for a while. We said,wow, that's that's too bad. It's
a bummer. I'm sorry about that, bud. Flash forward. I see
a drone on sale on Amazon forlike seventy five percent off. It's fifty

(25:37):
bucks for this two hundred dollars drone. Okay, I'm like gotta get it.
Order it for Connor, give itto him and Charlotte on their last
day of school as a present.Connor plays with it for fifteen minutes,
goes to baseball practice. Charlotte andI are still outside. Why do I
decide to do schmidty. Let's seehow high I can make the drone go.
I'd send it all the way. You're not a drone operator. We've
established that life twice. Now.I have put this thing up in the

(26:00):
air. It started drifting in thewind. I thought I could bring it
back towards me. The next thingI know, it's over my neighbor,
across the streets, backyard, overthe top of their house. It's nothing
but woods, and I am inpanic mode smashing buttons on these things to
get it to come back to me. Uh wrong idea. It goes down
and my daughter she sold me out. So Feeshy's like, Mom, Mom

(26:22):
is gonna kill you. You areso done. Connor only got to play
with this thing one time. Dad, Mom's gonna kill you. Moms.
I'm like, my god, I'min the woods going through points and i'd
be trying to find this thing nothappening. I am now banned. I've
ordered another drone. I am nowbands I'm using it at all. I
don't get to touch the next one'sdictator when it comes to this. I'm

(26:42):
also banned from going near any cockpitin an actual airplane Schmidty, because my
aviation skills are apparently not up toI want to take your Amazon password and
never again. I did like gamelogs. Answer here Schmitty our Samsung phone
on accident purpose. That's good parentingyour teens phone. Join the conversation on
Facebook. What of your kids' favoritethings did you destroy? Again? At

(27:06):
West Michigan star some down? DoesI get a good feeling? Well,
it's our chance to fill up yourcup? Feeling good on star Win O
five Floyd seven, it's back atSchmitty. Well. Graduating from high school
is a huge milestone, especially whenyou get to do it next to your
mom. At first, I waslike, I can't believe this. It's

(27:30):
like am I still dreaming? AmI still asleep? And then it hit
me once I started to putting onmy cap and gown, I was like,
yep, yep. That's Maria RamirezLopez, who walked alongside her daughter
Ashley Rivera, both graduating from highschool on Saturday. See Ramires Lopez had
to leave school when she was youngto help her own mom raise her siblings,

(27:52):
but it was years later when shewas a mom herself she decided to
