dreams come true? All right?Have you come across the roller blading Wizard
in downtown Grand Rapids. He hasbecome quite the local celebrity. While not
many know his identity. A wouldTV caught up with him yesterday rollerblading around
in his full uniform beard, gown, pointy brown hat, very much Dumbledore
vibes, and explained he's been rollerbladingfor a few years, maybe fifteen or
(05:39):
sixteen. That really sets him apartfrom the other wizards. He's just down
here doing quests. Cast In Spellsadmits his wand has been passed down among
the hundreds of years in his family, all different generations. It actually comes
from his cousin Gandalf. He's threehundred and forty seven years old, so
he's had a ton of time topractice and has only been gaining popularity with
(06:00):
the amount of people that spot himin downtown Grand Rapids will He says most
of his time is spent gaining questpoints. He also likes to take advantage

My dad wants me to get areal job, you know, making

So I'm gonna keep on the grind, keep on the grind. Taking
a gap century man, you seethe Grand Rapids Wizard. I would die
for a photo or a video. So you just go ahead and tag at
West Michigan Star because I'm on thehunt for um. Yeah, I gotta
see this guy on top of thatthough, I'm just thinking about the last

Let's do it again this morning, coming up at nine to twenty right
here on Stotin, I'll five pointseven movies, music and all the gossip
in one place. It's the celebritiesgup on Star one oh five point seven.
(07:06):
Well we had a little fun withthis yesterday, Country music star Ingrid
Andres and the national anthem heard aroundthe world ahead of the twenty twenty four
home run derby yes Red the bonBurs Yahoo The line lot of bless Yeah
(07:39):
widely panned on social media. Thecountry star is now claiming she was drunk
and is headed to rehab, postingyesterday afternoon to her Instagram at Ingrid rites,
I'm not gonna bs y'all, Iwas drunk last night. I'm checking
myself into a facility today to getthe help I need. That was not
(07:59):
me last night. I apologize toMLB, all the fans, and this
country I love so much for thatrendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab
is. I hear it's super funexo Ingrid. Yeah, a tough spot
for her Michigan native. I didn'trealize that as well. But she is
a Grammy Award winning artist. Imean, I would have thought that the
basement the bottom for her national anthemcould not be as far down as that
(08:22):
was. You know, I knowa lot of people made jokes yesterday.
I'm not going to do that.I think this is a really brave thing
to do. I think if shewas able to go public with this as
quickly as she did, I'm hopingthat this works for you. You find
what you need, girl, becausethat was pretty rough. I'm just surprised
that she wasn't surrounded by the peoplethat would have realized she maybe wasn't in
the state to do that anthem beforethey let her go out there right.
(08:45):
Serena Williams's husband Alexis o'hanni and sayshe's received a diagnosis of lime disease,
which is a total shock, butthankful they've discovered it after months of medical
testing. The Reddit co founder hishealth situation in a series of posts on
x Yesterday, saying doctors finally cameto the diagnosis after he underwent multiple medical
(09:09):
procedures. Even he said, doinga full battery of health scans, tests,
et cetera, I found out Ihave line disease wild no symptoms,
thankfully, but definitely going to treat. He explained too that he has a
little family history linked to this ailment, but was completely caught off guards since
he hasn't been exposed to the typicalgeography where this thrives, and kind of
(09:31):
told fans, listen, you've gotto make sure if you have any issues,
things that seem off, talk toyour doctor. It is ticks season
and this is nothing to mess aroundwith. That's what I was gonna say,
is like, when you talk aboutthe areas in which it thrives,
you mean like West Michigan where ticksare crazy bad this year. And finally,
how about this for a new bromanceJohnny Depp and Will Smith. More
(09:54):
pictures have surfaced of the two hangingout off the coast of Italy. The
Pirate It's star and Bad Boys actorare in Italy. Forget this guest appearances
alongside Andrea Butcelly what Yeah? Soapparently there's a huge celebration celebrating Andrea's thirtieth
(10:15):
anniversary in the business that includes thesetwo special guests. They are set to
join Andrea on stage tonight and Fridayas part of a star studied lineup in
his hometown in Italy. The concertis even being filmed and made into a
movie marking Andrea's thirty years in music. I looked at the Instagram and it
is described as a night with Andreaand Johnny. They expect Will Smith to
(10:39):
pop up there and do some ofhis hip hop hits alongside the legend as
well. Honestly, I just won'tthey're doing to Italy. I want to
hear Andrea Bocelli do getting jiggy withit? Okay? He would you like
the background? And I bet it'sphenomenal. Probably, Yeah, all of
your celeb scoop at West Michigan startdoc House. Good morning to you.
It's Mac and schmide And you putit really well there, Schmidde, you
said parenting milestone switch we talk aboutall the time, but the one that
(11:03):
made you feel great as a parent. Oh, I don't know. I'm
not taking credit for this at all. I just really enjoyed watching my kids
hit a milestone on their own andlike, figure out, this is going
to change our life because for thefirst time, my six year old son
can walk the dogs on his own, and that's been a huge I know
(11:24):
some of you might be listening andyou're like, that's lame, what are
you talking about. But it's abig deal because I mean, we've got
dogs that are pretty well behaved, but there's a lot that goes into it.
People walking up to you, otherdogs walking up to you. I've
been really nervous with just, youknow, anyone in general. I certainly
don't want dog on dog violence. That's the biggest fear living in this new
neighborhood of ours. Don't want that. So my kids are always asking when
(11:46):
we go on walks, can wehold the dogs. It's like, yeah,
but you just don't have the strengthyet. Number One, you're still
not totally aware, like you'll justcross the street without looking, or they'll
pull and you don't really have anykind of control over. My son has
been working like diligently on this. He's been holding the leash a certain way.
He's been really good about talking withToby, like, good job,
(12:07):
Toby, Oh we're gonna turn here. And we went on our first walk,
just the two of us last night, and we did like an hour
long walk. We went all overRockford, just me and him. I
had one dog, he had theother. And it just hit me in
that moment, this is a lifechanging moment, like we can actually do
(12:30):
this, because it's really hard totake a walk as a family with a
three year old and a six yearold. And I see how frustrated he
gets when his sister comes along becauseshe can't walk as long as he can.
A lot of times she gets distractedor she just full on quits and
we'll sit down on the sidewalk andexpect to be carried, and then he
knows the walk is gonna be wrappingup. So we got home last night
even my husband was like, geez, where'd you guys go? So we
(12:52):
walked all the way to downtown andback with the dogs and Will goes dad.
It was the best night. Andwe're gonna do that every single night
this week. And I was sotouched because I'm thinking, they don't tell
you this in the parent books, like something as simple as your child can
finally walk a dog. Yeah, and it's totally changed, Like we get
so much just together time. Hewas so excited that his sister wasn't there.
(13:13):
We got to walk wherever, wefound new paths. It was really
cool. And I feel like thosekind of milestones that you see as a
parent are just not talked about enough. Well, Andy, as he gets
older too, that can be kindof become one of his first big responsibilities
to do on his own. Andlike, as a kid, walk my
dog every day, and I lovewalking neighbors dogs. This is a great
like exactly, and I'm just soexcited for that kind of thing. I
(13:39):
mean, eventually we're gonna start beingable to take longer bike rides or going
to be able to trust him onbusier streets. That's why we moved where
we moved to be able to dothese things with the kids, and once
they're at the age where you feellike they're responsible and safe enough to do
it, I feel like it's goingto open just a whole new door of
things to do together. I'm reallyexcited about it, you know, Schmiddy,
I have one that I think everyparent might have overlooked, because again,
(14:01):
you didn't think about this. Whenyou think about those milestones for your
kids, it's like, Oh,they're taking their first steps, they're making
their first words, they're reading, they're doing things like that. So,
Benny, the day that my childrencould buckle themselves into their own seats in
the car, dear Lord, wasthat the greatest day that ever? Again?
Will Well is there? But mydaughter's still in a five point harness.
(14:22):
Oh no more booster seats. Theimagine need to just say get in
there. I can't imagine. Oh, it's the greatest thing. See you
know what? You know what beatsthat for me? What's up? My
son can make his own breakfast.Oh that's pretty good. I had my
best friend Elizabeth said, girl, one day, it's gonna hitch you.
I don't know where you're gonna besitting in bed on a Saturday, your
kids are going to come in andyou're gonna say, hey, you know
(14:43):
where the cereal is? And ithappened about two months ago. I heard
him pull the stool out, grabhis applejacks, pour his milk, and
I like moved over and like slowlytapped Chris and he's like what I said,
I think he's making breakfast. Hesaid, no, he's not.
Then I heard a second ball.I think he's MEGGI his We might get
to stay in that till like ninea m six one six, four five
(15:07):
eight one oh five seven. LikeI said, I'm not taking any credit
for this milestone. My son workedreally hard to be able to like walk
the dogs himself. And sometimes youget so excited about those milestones as a
parent. What was the milestone foryou? Six one six, four five
eight one oh five seven. Giveus a call, or there's some really
great parents on Facebook right now atWest Michigan Star timing a five point seven.
(15:31):
It's Mack and Schmidian. You know, if you're a parent and you're
trying your best, well that's allwe can ask. We don't judge Bob
because well we screw it up allthe time too. Sal Schmidde. I
was waiting to tell you this onebecause I know fireworks are your all time
favorite thing. Ever. Yeah,And over the fourth of July, I
took off on vacation. I waswent to Las Vegas, but my kids
(15:52):
went and stayed with their cousins inChicago, my big brother James and his
wife Katie. And before I sendthem there with my father, my brother
gave me a request, and thatwas to buy good fireworks. Illinois is
like Michigan used to be, whereyou can't buy fireworks that like shoot into
the air. You can only youknow, you can only buy the ones
(16:14):
that are on the ground, thekind of boring fireworks a little bit.
Well, so I went to thestore on a mission and bought some pretty
sweet fireworks, some pretty great rocketsthat were going to go off in his
neighborhood. And on my way out, as every kid loves it the Fourth
of July or gets to play withthose snappers, you know, the little
poppers, the little snappers. Well, I saw some as I was about
to check out Schmidty that said snapson steroids. And I got a nine
(16:38):
year old son, a ten yearold nephew, my daughter loves them too.
I mean, I was like,oh man, these are so cool.
Yeah, So I sent them toChicago with the kids and lo and
behold on the fourth of July whenI make my nightly FaceTime there, Schmidty,
I got scolded by my sister inlaw for sending them because the boys
(17:00):
apparently took them over to one ofmy nephew's friend's houses and proceeded to have
a fight with them, like asnowball fight. I was gonna say,
like, you know, they're gonnathrow them at each other. That's exactly
what happened. And apparently the snapon steroids a little bit stronger when it
breaks against your skin than the averagesnap was, because you can literally put
those between your fingers. No bigdeal, Like not a problem. Well,
(17:23):
they were loud, and apparently theyscared the heck out of one of
my nephew's neighbors, like freaked outRyan, Mom's come out, Mom's pow
wow in the middle of the neighborhood. All this is going on, and
I'm getting messages from my brothers likedude, you're falling on this sword for
sure. This is not my fault, this is He's like I didn't tell
(17:45):
you you're Michigan smoothies music and allthe gossip in one place. It's the
celebrity scoop uns are one oh fivepoint seven. Well, the backlash has
been swift and unrelenting after Kyle Gas, one half of the band Tenacious D,
(18:11):
made an unbelievable comment at their showin Sydney over the weekend. So
Kyle was celebrating his birthday on stageand when asked for his wish, don't
miss Trump next time. So thiswould have been hours after that assassination attempt
(18:33):
on former President Donald Trump, andfor Kyle to say don't miss Trump next
time was immediately fired off online,to the point where now Tenacious D has
canceled their entire Australian tour. JackBlack made a statement saying I was blindsided
by what was said at the showon Sunday. I would never condone hate
speech or encourage political violence in anyform. After much reflection, I no
(18:59):
longer feel it's a pro to continuethe Tenacious detour and all future creative plans
are on hold. I'm grateful tothe fans for their support and understanding.
Shortly after that, Kyle issued anapology saying the line I improvised on stage
in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I don't
condone violence of any kind in anyform against anyone. What happened was a
(19:22):
tragedy, and I'm incredibly sorry formy severe lack of judgment. I profoundly
apologize to those I've let down andtruly regret any pain I've caused. Unfortunately,
further fallout as it was announced latelast night that Green Talent, the
agency representing Kyle, has said theyare parting ways and will no longer represent
(19:45):
the singer as a direct result ofhis incendiary comments. You know, it's
pretty wild to you think of likecanceling an entire tour after then, and
all the tickets and all the venues. But somebody made a really good point
that I was reading that all ofthese tour stops have to carry insurance,
and when something like this happens, there's often a ton of threats that come
along with that, and so theinsurance can skyrocket, and the venues are
(20:07):
like, nah, we don't wantyou coming here. Oh. I also
think they're not going to have muchtime with all the Secret Service questioning they're
going to be undergoing owensprising all right. It is officially National Snake Day being
celebrated yesterday, which means the Swiftieswere in full force reigniting and almost eight
year old feud between Taylor and KimKardashian. So National Snake Day falls every
(20:30):
year in July sixteenth, but meansa little something different. Remember eight years
ago when Kim tweeted out, wait, it's legit National Snake Day. They
have holidays for everybody, I meaneverything these days. This was really in
the thick of Taylor and Kanye's backand forth where Kanye had that song calling
her the B word. She saysshe had didn't know anything about it,
(20:52):
and then the phone call was released. Well, social media did not miss
out on the opportunity. Happy NationalSnake Day at Kim kardashi In Happy National
Snake Day to all those who celebrate, coming from the Official Era's tour account
and lots of other nasty, nastymemes. Honestly, I don't know if
(21:12):
a feud worked out well for bothparties quite as well as that one did,
right, Like, I mean,Taylor's still writing songs about it.
Kim Kardashian's a billionaire. I thinkthey're both like, yeah, that's fine.
And finally, last night, itwas nine two of the RNC and
we got quite the celeb guest whenWest Virginia Governor Jim Justice brought out his
(21:33):
beloved pet, Bulldog, Baby Dog. I know that a lot of you
want to meet my little buddy. So if baby Dog could come on out
here as the world of watchers, you didn't really expect that, did you.
But with that being said, letme just say just this. She
(21:53):
makes a smile and she loves everybody, and how could the message by any
more simpler than just diata? Sotwo things I'll say here. Number one,
bet you didn't expect that. Uhnope, we don't know what to
expect. This political year has beeninsane. Number Two, baby Dog is
the sweetest thing ever. And honestly, I move to vote solely based on
(22:15):
political figures. Pets. Anybody withme, anybody, we can stop the
debates and all this other back andfi. I just want to see your
cute dog or cat or fish orbird, and I'll cast my batlllet based.
I was gonna say they could putthe pictures right there a ballot next
to the candidate's names. All right, all your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot com selling a five pointsseven eighths Time to throw down. Let's
(22:37):
battle, Schmitty. It's battle ofthe sexes and your opportunity to get to
the totally tubular festival. And ifyou're an eighties music fan, this looks
so cool, Smitty. I havegotten so many dms about this, big
acts like modern Englishmen without hats, wing Chung Bow, Wow, Wow,
Tommy two tone, just to namea few. It's coming July twenty sixth
to Meadowbrook. And if you gettoday's number one answer, we're gonna hook
(22:59):
you up tickets so that you cantell us all about it. One hundred
men surveyed. Name something you'd buyat a souvenir shop. Ooh, something
you buy at a souvenir you're aman a map? Oh? You know
what? I for me? Ithought this is not on the list,
but like, I feel like Ihave so many mugs from different places.
There's coffee mugs galore. I'm akeychain person. I'm a good keychain Yeah.
(23:21):
All right six one six four fiveeight, one oh five seven callers
seven first Chance the number one answer. One hundred men surveyed name something you'd
buy at a souvenir shop, andwe've got totally Tubular tickets for you with
Star one oh five point seven,Good morning, Star. Who's this?
Lydia? Lydia? One hundred guyswere asked to name something that you'd often
(23:42):
find or that you'd often get ina souvenir shop. What do you think?
Their top answer was there lydia?A shirt? A T shirt?
Yeah, how many people you seewalking around with T shirts? They say,
Macina Island, Niagara Falls, WestPalm Beach. I mean you gotta
get a T shirt when you go, and that's fine, it's the top
answer. Congratulations, Lea, Yeah, congrats. You are going to go
(24:04):
check out. This is gonna beso cool. The Totally Tubular Festival later
this month over at the Medibrook CampaTheater. We got four tickets. You're
bringing some friends with you, excellentlyand all right, we'll do it again
tomorrow. The Chance Battle of theSex is here on start one oh five
point seven. So oneing to Macand Schmidty. I am so happy to
be back after an extended break Smittywhere I went to Las Vegas, where
(24:29):
I used to live for about adecade. That's where my wife and I,
who were both from Michigan, andthen moved out there after college.
And you know, going home, you know you can never quite do it
again. It's never the same afteryou've moved away and come back to a
place. So I wanted to ask, what is something from a right place
that you lived, whether it's nearor far, that you just don't miss
about that place. Because I wasthere for history SCHMITTI and not the good
(24:51):
kind Las Vegas, Las Vegas hAnd we went in July, so obviously
having lived there for a decade andno it was gonna be hot, did
not know it was going to bethe hottest it has ever been in the
history of Las Vegas. While wewere there, well, I'm pretty sure
the news I had was five consecutivedays hitting over one hundred and fifteen degrees.
Wound up breaking that record two othertimes to finish six days consecutively over
(25:17):
one hundred and fifteen. We werethere for five of them. That sounds
horrendous to me. A Smitty, the hottest day in the history of Las
Vegas, happened on July seventh, one hundred and twenty degrees, and having
lived there, I experienced one hundredand fifteen hundred and fourteen so many times,
and I always told people T me, it's a dry heat. Well,
(25:38):
no, no, no, ButI mean, I'll take one hundred
in vegas over eighty five in Michiganany day in terms of that. But
I will say that when you getabove one hundred and five, I'm like,
it's all the same, not true. One hundred and twenty is a
whole different kind of oppression that Ihad never felt before. Michelle and I
were at the pool Schmitty and westarted in the shade. We started in
the shade, which is why wewent down there right in the morning,
(26:00):
and when we got out, itwas because the sun had just come up
over it. Michelle's phone case meltedinto the concrete, her silicone case.
She went to pick it up,and it looked like she had put it
in gum because she picked it upand watched strands of the silicone stick onto
the concrete and come away with youa watch of people fry eggs in like
(26:21):
two minutes. I'm talking to myfriend down there and He's like, this,
ain't it? This is not fun. It was so unbelievably impressive and
brutal. I could not believe it. But like, no, that's the
thing. It's something that when youleave your home you go back. You
just don't miss something. And Iwill never miss that heat at all.
Shmade. But you just moved. What's something you don't miss from where you
(26:42):
used to live? Well, soI'm looking at it differently though, because
I moved into a neighborhood that's acarbon copy of my childhood. It's why
I love it. I loved whereI grew up. I thought it was
magical. But if you talk aboutany place I've lived since college, sure
it'll miss riotmates. I will neverget divorced. It is not out of
love, but I will never livewith another person again. What are you
(27:03):
talking about, Schmidy? Your currentroommates. I know them. They're loud,
they poop themselves from time to time. I mean, in fact,
I would take that over any otheradult I've ever lived with. Should tell
you something. Man, the listyou guys gotten on Facebook are pretty fantastic.
What is the thing you just don'tmiss about where you used to live?
You can hit us up at WestMichigan stock Sometimes does that get a
(27:27):
good feel well? I had mentionedto all of my fellow moms, imagine
having this as an option when youwere in labor, but especially if you
were a woman that was confined toa hospital bed to protect you and your
baby. Well, that is what'shappened for lots of moms, and Corwell
(27:48):
Help has come up with an incredibleidea teaming up with Design One Salon Spa
to offer spa treatments to long termpatience, great way to uplift spirits.
For instance, Haley Cogswell's water brokeat twenty six weeks, she was admitted
to the hospital has already been therefor two weeks and their plan is to
(28:10):
keep her there until at least thirtyfour. What do you do? You're
hanging out in bed all day?You only watch so much TV, read
as many books, have friends visit, and that's when they came up with
this great idea. Design One staffvisit the hospital to do hair, nails,
facials, even give massages. GrahamWaltz is the COO of Design One
(28:33):
Salon spot. She told on yourside, there's only so much you can
do. In the walls of ahospital. So we try to make it
as best of an experience as wecan for the patients kind of experiencing this
kind of tough road. And thisis not the first time that they've done
this, not the second time. They're hoping they can make this at least
a monthly thing, if not more, because it is such a huge pick
(28:56):
me up to these soon to bemoms. What a great idea. Jiddy
as just a dumb guy, right. Something I didn't realize when we,
you know, had our first children. How important apparently it is to have
your nails done when you go into have a baby. The pictures.
I had never even thought that wentinto my mind. There is Anto's and
they do both all right. Iknow, kids, this is a scary
(29:18):
sounds parents you might be celebrating.Back to school will be upon us before
you know it. And I thinkthis is such a great idea that I
really want to see selfishly come toWest Michigan because I am the worst,
as you know, when it comesto parking tickets. I've seen tickets for
turkeys before. How about tickets forschool supplies? This is really cool.
Well, Length Kansas has got anew initiative that is allowing people to pay
(29:41):
off traffic and parking fines by donatingschool supplies. Here's the crazy part.
Fifteen dollars worth of school supplies, backpacks, markers, notebooks, whatever it
is get you fifty bucks off onyour fines PI. That's huge. I
don't know how you're not doing that, but man, I feel like,
as somebody who has been basically painenough to fix all the dang roads,
(30:02):
I'd rather give my money to theschools. They've heard with lots of different
schools or is there this is allgoing through the late community schools, so
it's right there within their county.Judge Katie McKenny just says, you know,
with the pinch that everybody's feeling rightnow, this is just a huge
thing for kids and families in therethis day and age, everyone's feeling the
pinch of inflation and everything just seemsto cost more. And we know that
(30:25):
there's kids out there in the onlyschool district who might be showing up without
all needed supplies. So for usto be able to fill that gap and
provide that to those kids means theworld. I think it's just a great
idea, perfect bring it here, please all right? Feeling good comes at
you twice to day. I alwayswant to tell you about something great going
on out there still tomorrow six fortyfive and nine to twenty here on Startar
(30:47):
five point seven, Mac and Schmidtyin the morning weekdays starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
