(00:03):
Wake um. He gets my daygoing and makes me laugh. I love
it. Mac and Schmidty in themorning on Star one of five point seven.
Good morning, Schmitty, Good morning. Welcome into your Tuesday, and
thanks for doing it with us.I was nervous to see how things worked
in here yesterday. It was thecraziest thing. When you were out of
(00:24):
here, Schmidty. One of ourcoworkers came in, our new guy,
Charles, who looks just like whatwhat rapper does he look like? Oh?
He looks like Jack Harlow. Yeah, that's right. He comes in
here and I I think it mayhave been the static electricity on the man's
shoes. I don't know for sure, but he touched it. And I'm
not kidding you. Every single screenin this very expensive studio went black,
(00:48):
flashed out the board with all themillion buttons that we pushed every single day,
completely turned off. I think myengineer almost went home. He was
so stressed here just grunted employee. You guys, I don't know what I
want to know. I'm We're goingto talk about this at seven ton this
morning. That is the third veryodd thing to break in the last twenty
(01:11):
four to forty eight hours, andI think we've got someone in this building
that is not loving working here andis going out of their way to ruin
things. They're sabotaging. What wewalked into yesterday is one of the most
insane things I think I've ever seenin a workplace. If you want to
check it out, I just puta video up on our Facebook and our
Instagram, and you tell us ifyou've had a crazy incident with a coworker,
(01:32):
because we need to get to thebottom of whoever is pulling this stuff.
We're working with a monster. I'mpretty sure we've got some sort of
Sothia social sin. It's ruck sausehe seems so kind, but someone someone
on this floor or another floor, ain't thrilled with iHeartRadio. That's what makes
me suspicious of it, se MADDIis he does seem so kind. Hmm.
All I'm saying is he's only beenhere for a little while and these
(01:53):
things sort of just started happening.Movies, music and all the gossip in
one place. It's the celebrities groupon Star one oh five point seven,
And this is a tough one.I love the four Tops A loss in
Motown as Duke Fakir, the lastsurviving original member of the beloved Motown group,
(02:17):
has passed away. The singer diedyesterday at his home in Detroit as
a result of heart failure. Accordingto his family, They tell the Detroit
Free Press, our hearts are heavyas we mourn the loss of a trailblazer,
icon and music legend who, throughhis seventy year music career, touched
the lives of so many. Thefamily ads we find solace in Duke's legacy
(02:40):
living on through his music for generationsto come. I mean, same old
song reach out, I'll be there, baby, I need your loving.
This band was iconic, inducted intothe Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back
in nineteen ninety. Duke was eightyeight years old. I mean, pretty
unbelievable. And you think about alegacy two Schwindia, But I think is
(03:02):
so cool about the four Tops now? Is like we just saw them at
Frederick Meyer Garden's earlier this month. He kept touring and brought in new member
after new member after new member, and a few of them are related to
the original members. That this issomething that's been passed down and kind of
kept in the family, which is. I think that's sad. Sad Duke
Fakir eighty eight years old. PresidentBiden says leaving the campaign was the right
(03:28):
choice. He's speaking out once againafter announcing he would not be seeking reelection
in the twenty twenty four presidential election, once again also endorsing Vice President Kamala
Harris. Potus phoned into his campaignheadquarters in Wilmington, Delaware yesterday, which
has now turned into Kamala's headquarters,to talk to his staff. I know
yesterday's news is surprising and it's hardart for you to hear, but it
(03:51):
was the right thing to do.I know it's hard because you've poured your
heart and soul into me, sohelp us win this thing, help me
get this nomination, helped me winthe nomination and then go on to win
the win the presidency. I'm goingto be working like hell, both as
a sitting president getting legislation passed aswell as a campaigning. You know what,
(04:14):
we still need to save this democracy. So I'm hoping you'll give every
bit of your heart and soul thatyou gave to me to come on.
By the way, a big momentfor VP Harris's campaign that I will have
coming up in your West Michigan wakeup. Finally, celebrities showed up in
New York last night for the bigpremiere of the new Deadpool and Wolverine action
(04:38):
flick Man oh Man. Was everyonetalking about Blake Lively. I mean,
sure, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackmanare the stars, but Blake's fashionable take
on Deadpool's red jumpsuit had everybody talking, including Blake herself, who decided to
take what's become very normal for thecouple a little swipe at her hobby.
(05:00):
You're supporting me tonight, right,A little bits. That's the energy I'm
giving here, supporting me, Thankyou. The big red carpet also included
Peggy the very famous Pooch, apug and Chinese crested mix voted the UK's
ugliest dog that has become Deadpool's dogin the movie, as well as supermodel
(05:26):
Gigi Hadeed. Avril Levigne was there, Comedian Matt Rife, Jimmy Fallon,
Al Roker and all of in syncminus Justin Timberlake, who is of course
overseas for his world tour. Youhad me at the Ugliest Dog, Schmitia
honestly like how did they pull offgetting the world donea this dog as dead
Pools Dog critics are saying, thismovie is phenomenal. I've got more picks
(05:47):
for you with your scoop at WestMichigan Star dot com some down. Well,
thanks for starting this Tuesday morning thatwith us Mack and Schmidtie on Starwee
fin point seven. It was feelinggood right now. And of course with
the Olympics getting started this week,we are going to be seen incredible feats
of athleticism, some the best ofall time. But those are happening all
(06:12):
the time, not just during theOlympics. That it just went down with
two best friends who already held aworld record. Their names are Jessica Oliver
from England and Charlotte Harris from Ireland, and back in twenty twenty one,
they became the fastest female pair toever row across the Atlantic Ocean. Again,
rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in theserelatively small boats comparatively to the oceans
(06:36):
that they are on of course, with massive waves, weather patterns, shipping
bows, everything else under the sunthat they've got a battle. Well they've
done it again. Just earlier thismonth. The two of them have become
the fastest duo to ever row acrossthe Pacific Ocean, battling forty foot waves
and on the way, not onlybreaking the all time record by women smiddy
(06:59):
by nine full days, but breakingthe all time record by anyone, taking
the record from two men by twofull days. These women crushed a twenty
eight hundred mile row all the wayfrom Monterey Bay, California to Hawaii,
twenty eight hundred miles. They actuallyset out all the way back in June
(07:23):
and didn't come out until just theother day, July sixteenth, more than
a month on the water, butabsolutely unbelievable, in a brand new world
record that I have a feeling thatis going to be lasting for quite some
times. Maybe, Yeah, youwant to put that into perspective. The
Pacific Ocean covers a third of theEarth. Yeah, I mean, it's
leave it to women. Leave itto women. I saw this video yesterday
(07:45):
and I was so moved by this. A tradition for a London cab company
is something that is so priceless forfamilies that find themselves in a very terrifying
moment taking their kids to the hospital. The Black Cabs service has their tradition
of never never charging parents who aretaking their kids to Great Ormond Street.
(08:07):
It's a hospital for very, verysick kids. And one of those cabbys
in Essex posted this video might chargeto day. I charge on the shape,
Alison. You give the mind. You get to have a little toy
if you ever stuck up there toprint where there's my card? Get a
coach. Coach Now you're going tohave a toy. You can put me
(08:28):
money in the part. I'll giveit to your point game a little toyle,
have a good days. You caneither give that money to the hospital
or you can buy a little toyfor your little boy. I was looking
through the comments on this viral videoand Robin wrote for non Brits, Great
Ormond Street is a hospital for verysick kids and the cabbys have quietly honored
(08:50):
this tradition for more than a decade. They also do charity rides regularly.
Black cab drivers that's the company arethe backbone of London and people feel so
incredibly lucky that these men and womenare who they are. It is such
a cool video. I'll put itup at West Michigan Star dot com.
Beautiful tradition, lucky too. Funnything is when you turned when you played
(09:13):
the audio, I was like, can we have subtitles on this? I
feel like if I was in oneof the background of the cabs, I'm
like, what do you want? How do I You can just take more
money, That's what I like. It's just beautiful. He's not charging the
parents who are taking a sick littleboy, and I just Sick's beautiful.
That is awesome. Feel like itcomes out to twice a day. We
always want to point out those awesomethings that are going on all around you
when you're looking for We'll do itagain today nine to twenty. Right here
on Star one oh five point seven, movies, music, and all the
(09:35):
gossip in one place. It's theCelebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
So the new Netflix show Receiver hasbeen getting rave reviews and myself,
I'm on episode four. It isso so good, but could be spelling
some trouble for the Detroit Lions andan injury they may have hidden. So
(09:58):
on the first episode of Receiver,it was revealed that a'm and Ross Saint
Brown suffered an oblique injury during Detroit'sWeek three game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Like on the side by where youoblique is? It's just killing me.
I was like, this just doesn'tfeel right. Get an MRI and they
tell me you toyo oblique completely offthe bone. I'm like, damn really
(10:22):
So now at this point, I'mlike, Okay, I don't really know
what to expect, because, youknow, something torn off the bone doesn't
sound right to me. So itwas revealed that the Lions did not put
Saint Brown on their injury report forWeek four, which was a short week
because the Lions had a Thursday gameagainst the Packers. Now, with the
Lions being revealed to have not properlyplaced him on that injury report, they
(10:46):
could be subjected to discipline by theleague. For instance, the Falcons were
looked into last season after not addressingwhat turned out to be headaches for their
running back Robinson. Twenty nineteen, the Steelers were fined for not disclosing an
injury for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Therehasn't been an update on this, but
Netflix might them doing something wrong.I mean, give it like off of
(11:09):
receiver, this is this hurts inthe core a little bit. Guy.
Guys, the cameras are everywhere whenthat Netflix crew is watching you, so
we'll see what happens. Chris Brownhas been named in a fifty million dollar
lawsuit along with rapper Yellow Beezy. But here's what's interesting also Live Nation,
(11:30):
in connection with a series of allegedattacks that occurred on Brown's eleven eleven tour
in Texas. The singer has beenaccused of arranging for four men to be
attacked. The plaintiffs are four gentlementhat said the incident went down July twentieth,
after Brown's concert. They were invitedand escorted into the backstage area with
(11:52):
a group of others to socialize followingthe show. They said Brown was a
bit late and one thing went toto another. There was some talking,
and all of a sudden, theywere attacked. One plaintiff even says he
was smashed in the head with achair. A lawyer said one of the
four men is still receiving care ina hospital as a result of injuries suffered
(12:13):
in the attack. They've sought restrainingorders against Chris Brown, but are now
looking for financial compensation from both Crazyand Live Nation over this. You know,
I'd like to think people rehabilitate themselvesand get better. But everywhere Chris
Brown grows every few years, somebody'sin some huge altercations. Somebody's getting beat
(12:37):
up. Yeah, this is moreinteresting that Like, how does Live Nation
not have better security against these kindsof things, because if they're brought into
this, I mean, fifty millionis definitely a huge chunk of chains.
Well, and who's going to wantto ensure his tours? I mean you're
going to wind up losing people likeLive Nation from even promoting. All right.
Finally, Lebron James has yet anothermassive accomplishment to his resume. Maker
(13:00):
Superstar was just revealed to be theflag bearer for the twenty twenty four Paris
Olympics. He becomes the first everteam USA men's basketball player to receive the
honor. James was nominated by StephCurry as well as the rest of the
national team, and got the officialword yesterday, something he is taking very
(13:20):
proudly and very humbly, especially onthe fact that you know, to get
an opportunity to you know, representyour country, you know in another fashion,
you know, to be able tounderstand how the prestigious you know,
this moment is and for someone tohave it to be a the flag barrier
and to wave the flag for notonly for us as a man's national team,
(13:41):
before all the Olympians. I holdthat with the utmost honor, and
you know, it's definitely something thatin my family and my community and my
friends and something will to live onforever and super appreciative and super humble.
Boy. The opening ceremonies in Parisare on Friday, and it heads up.
Because of that time difference, we'llbe seeing a lot of live action
(14:03):
during the day in our eastern timezone. For instance, thousands of athletes
will be traveling in boats down theriver sen That will happen at about one
thirty on Friday afternoon. If youwant to watch it live primetime special on
NBC and Peacock can't wait, Smittyyeah wait, love it all of your
celebsco but West Michigan start out.I'm warning to it's mack Att Schmidty.
And you know what, We've gota potential psycho here, a sociopath and
(14:28):
at least at a minimum, Schmidty, what we have is a mystery on
our hands. This has to besomeone that's not happy to be here,
because I can't imagine any other reasonyou would go out of your way to
do what someone did. We allcame into work yesterday, and to give
you an idea, I have avideo on our Facebook and our Instagram.
The ninth floor studios are just kindof a big square hallway and we have
(14:50):
this little break counter with a Gordonwater cooler next to it for lake filtered
water. Someone tore the handles offthe water cooler. We had a warm
side and a cold side, sothe red and blue handles were both ripped
right off the cooler, which meantwe couldn't get any water. Someone finally
(15:11):
rigged this system where we can useplyers, a nice little set of needle
nose plyers needle nose pliers to pullthis thing up after a few tries and
get like a dribble of water. But we're all talking about this yesterday in
one of my meetings, and thenour boss comes in and he's listening to
this, and he goes, isthis the same person that seems to have
(15:33):
taken all of our lights out?If you noticed all the lights on our
floor are broken, I did not. I did not notice that because I
think they sort of slowly I meanpossibly methodically went through and just maybe did
one and then waited. The hallwayis all dark except for the light.
You can't reach over the sink, which is why my video is lit and
(15:56):
the lights in our studio otherwise thehallway is totally dark. Well. And
here's the thing about our floor here, guys, is that this happened over
the weekend. We assumed because Fridaythe water cooler was fine. I got
water on Friday. Yep, Mondayit's not. And you have to have
one of our employee key cards toeven get into the area. So if
it's it's the cleaning people and thefew people that work here. So the
(16:18):
suspects are pretty liberally well allegedly becauseremember we did have a stranger come and
steal our iPads that was outside, though they couldn't get into this area.
I see our security door open allthe time, so let's not pretend this
couldn't be an outside source that madeit here. But that's what I asked
right away. I was like,we have cameras we can confirm who came
in and came out during the weekend. The problem is we don't have them
(16:38):
on the cooler, and we don'tknow if it happened Friday night after you
know, several people left, couldhave happened, you know, overnight right
before Monday. It's it's close.I got water at twelve thirty pm on
Friday, and then I got waterat four two am on Monday. So
there is your timeline, people, and there has to be in stories of
(17:00):
disgruntled employees, like I remember, right before COVID, I think is when
this happened, one of our salesreps got let go and they ended up
having to call the police to escorthim out, and we were told to
avoid the lobby at all costs becausethat was a disgruntled employee that felt as
(17:22):
though they should not have been letgo. My disgruntled employee, schmiddy.
The one that sticks out to meis also the coolest way of quitting I
have ever seen in my life.I worked at Beat's Mongolian Barbecue over at
East Lansing while I was in collegeover there, and I watched a guy
get yelled at by his manager walkdirectly into a giant refrigerator cooler because everything
(17:45):
there has to be replaced all thetime, so those coolers are stacked and
there's tons walk right in there anddestroy about ten cases of chicken, every
vegetable. He just started pouring themall onto the floor, just dumping meats,
shrimp, steak, chicken all thathe could, and nobody could see
him because the door just closes rightbehind you. So he had destroyed thousands
(18:07):
and thousands of dollars worth of foodin a matter of like five minutes.
I watched a guy walk out andtake all the fresh bread from Jimmy John's.
That's your severance. Good. Thatputs you so far behind because it's
a sandwich shop and you make everythingon bread. Hey, sorry, guys.
We know we say the smells arefree, but we're out right now.
Somebody. Yeah, I don't knowif there is something as bad as
(18:32):
tearing the handles off of a watercooler. Smitty is so salty. Yeah,
but that's why we run this bitevery single week, Salty Schmitty,
You know, because when you canjust release some of that anxiety, some
of that angst and hostility just makesthings better for everyone involved. Schmitty,
what's gotch you so salty? Thisweek? There was so much anxiety,
so I was super excited. Italked about it yesterday I went and saw
(18:55):
the new Twisters on Friday, andyou said, really good, really incredible,
awesome, some movie. And it'sthe first time I've been to a
movie since Barbie of last summer.I just don't do a whole ton of
movies. And I had to doublecheck this Twisters is PG thirteen. Okay,
So why am I sitting in atheater with the scariest rated R possibly
(19:17):
NC seventeen previews that I've ever witnessedin my life, the scariest. My
friend and I went. We weresitting at Celebration North and closed our eyes
for like the entire seventeen minutes ofpreviews, and they get you because at
the first one they previewed Red One, which is the new Christmas movie with
JK. Simmons and Chris Evans andThe Rock it looks really really good and
(19:38):
we're like, oh my gosh,we totally take the kids to see that.
It's so and then the next previewhas these two girls knocking on the
door and who opens it Hugh Grant, and I'm thinking, oh love actually
too. Nope, we just needto go home. I won't keep you
a few push to leave, butI want you to choose which door to
go through based on your faith. What does this have to do with us
(20:00):
leaving everything your grands? Apparently aserial killer. British serial killers are so
much scarier than us. From Heretic, they go into this movie called Smile,
which I still don't know what itwas about. What's horrifying, terrifying?
What's horrifying? And then I'm stillnot sure because I didn't open my
(20:21):
eyes at all after those first two. I think there's a new Omen coming
out. By the time Twisters actuallystarted, we had sweat so much from
fear. We like change seats. The original Omen was one of the first
horror movies that I watched as likea like a tween, and it gave
me nightmares forever I till this day. Why did didn't go to Omen?
(20:44):
That's exactly why I didn't pay mymoney to see Heretic for any one of
those. I went to see Twisters. And you're serving me up these And
you know what, if you'd startedwith the scary stuff right off the bat,
I would have said, O,time to go get popcorn. You
tricked me with Santa and then yougave me apps lot serial killer nightmare show
me so sulky. Okay, waitwait wait wait wait didn't you tell me
(21:07):
to take my kids to Twister? It wasn't the first thing you said,
like, oh, you could totallybring the kids to it? And then
what did I say? Take themtwenty minutes after the movie has started,
because the previews are so horrendous, movies, music, and all the gossip
in one place. It's the celebritiescoopon Star one oh five point seven.
Well, we got to see fourof the five members of in Sync last
(21:32):
night taking to the red carpet forthe big Deadpool and Wolverine premiere on the
East Coast, but it came withsome potentially sad news. Justin Timberlake does
not look to be interested in areunion tour for in Sync. Sources say
Justin and his team have yet toaddress any respective proposals for a possible in
(21:52):
Sinc Stadium tour that would go downnext summer, despite the fact Lance That's
Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, andJC Chase have all responded with interest after
different promoters apparently made their pitches monthsago to the guys. JT is the
only one who has not engaged inany conversation about this, and the source
(22:15):
ads the other guys are super disappointedwith Justin's silence on this. Now.
He is obviously very very busy withthe world tour. That's why he was
not on the Red parpet with therest of his friends last night, and
sources say that in Sync feels thatthe past year was kind of a lead
up to tease the band's bands thatsomething big was coming, especially with twenty
(22:37):
twenty five coinciding with the band's twentyfifth anniversary. Sony also would love to
make a pretty penny on something likethis, even a new single or album.
Has major music labels interested, butit's a no go for Justin right
now. Well, like you said, it would be absolutely huge, and
there's a reason the other guys areinterested, But Justin dude's going to be
on tour for like a year. The next thing he wants to do is
(22:59):
sign up to do all over again. That sounds like a lot, also
saying that some of his future legalissues may be very tough with scheduling something
like this. Ooh boy, Michiganfans, you're ready for this. Connor
Stallions is ready to share his sideof the story from that alleged sign stealing
scheme with Michigan's football team. Netflixannounced yesterday the fourth season of Untold,
(23:26):
which by the way, is anincredible show, will include sign Stealer.
That's the name of the episode thatis going to drop on August twenty seventh.
Stallions is set to break his silenceon the scandal. You'll remember Stallions
was on coach Harbass staff until heresigned back in November, accused of purchasing
tickets to scout future opponents and thensending people to those games to digitally record
(23:48):
teams signaling their plays. This isgoing to be very interesting because the timing
August twenty seventh, four days beforeMichigan's home opener against Fresnos eight. Personally,
as a Michigan fan, I'm soexcited to see this. You know,
this will be the first time thatreally he has opened up since that
whole thing went on with it,And honestly, have you ever seen Untold?
(24:08):
I have such a good series. They'll probably do a phenomenal job with
this. Yeah, I mean,I have a feeling that Spartan and Buckeye
fans aren't gonna get necessarily what theywant out of it, But at the
same time. Should be really interesting. All right. Finally, Travis Kelsey
has reported for duty. Yes,indeed back and ready for another season with
the Kansas City Chiefs. This threetimes Super Bowl champion was walking down a
(24:32):
campus in full Chiefs practice gear witha big welcome. Now we're pointing out
the signature stash also returning Travis playingwith it, hurling in a bit before
smiling to the crowd and acknowledging fans. A lot of people are wondering will
(24:56):
Taylor be as present this season asshe was last season? And so her
aristore does continue. She's actually kickingoff her German shows tonight. She's in
Munich later this week. Then it'sPoland Austria, her huge London shows at
Wembley Stadium, but those are doneAugust twentieth, and then she's back in
the States with Miami shows scheduled forOctober eighteenth. She's got a nice break.
(25:19):
She's going to be stateside. Wouldn'tbe surprised if you see her at
most of the Chiefs games. Whateverlast year was about the swifty super Bowl,
this year it's about our Detroit Lionsout out. Don't say it.
I'll love all of your celeb scoopat West Michigan Star dot Com. Face
time to battle Battle of the sexIs and your opportunity to go check out
a show that has been entertaining familiesfor more than one hundred years. Shitty,
(25:41):
but it's gonna look a little differentthis time around. The Ringling Brothers

from October twenty fifth to the twentyseventh. Boys wanted to try that trapeze.
You can win tickets for the entirefamily with today's number one answer.

Fabio covers like you and I areright there, huh. Sex one six

Where are you calling us from?Today? The Kerrie You gotta tell me?
One hundred women were asked to namesomething you find on the cover of
a novel. What do you think? The top answer is the title of
(26:48):
the book? The title of thebook. Why would anybody put that there?
Carrie? It seems like such anobscure thing. Of course, the
title of the book is on thatcover. I was wondering if it was
so obvious that it just would betricky for people because it was title followed
by author's name, then a picture, and then whether or not it's on
(27:08):
the bestseller's list, because you know, they can't forget to mention that if
it is, for sure, Carry, you are going to check out Barnum

seven, Good morning, to you. It's Mack and Schmidty, and I
want to know what are the lengthsyou have gone through in order to be
front of the line to experience somethingfirst. Maybe it was music, maybe
it was you know, concert tickets, video game movies, whatever it is
for you. Because my brother inlaw did something earlier this week, Smitty,
that I think I find just ridiculousfor a man in his mid thirties,
(27:55):
he took a day off of workbecause of that College Football NC double
A twenty twenty five release. Mintie, this video game is got men around
my age. I feel like betweenthe ages of twenty five and forty five
just losing their minds. So ifyou didn't know, it's the first EA
(28:17):
Sports NC DOUBLEA twenty five College Footballtwenty five. That's the name. First
Tameba, this is college football. The NC double A twenty five is just
gas and it's the first one theyput out in a deckage. Many get
this. They early released it onMonday before the wide public release on Friday
of just you know, just earlierlast weekend. So many people paid the
(28:41):
extra thirty dollars for the early release. It made them almost a quarter of
a billion dollars just so these dudescould play their football game three days before
everybody. Husband told me about thistwo hundred million dollars just to the extra
that's not yeah general on sale, that's just people who paid to watch it
(29:02):
early. Honestly, you look atmy dating history, that does not shock
me one single bit that the menout there are taking work off to pay
whatever it is to get in onthat d I took the full day off
of work just so he could sitthere with his buddies in emplatly other locations
on their headsets playing college football. He said. They played for like sixteen
hours straight. I wish I'd lovedanything in my life enough to do that,
(29:26):
shittie. I don't love anything enoughto deal with whatever that smelled like
at the end of sixteen hours.Get a good keeping. You're feeling good?
Is your roll through your day withthe music and of course incredible stories
as well, it is feeling good. I'm still on five point seven.
What's happening to many? All right? A World War Two veteran and lifelong
(29:48):
