referred to as weekend Eve around here, because yeah, you're

Speaker 4 (00:22):
You can smell it kind of sort of, Helm's there,
Helm's there.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I like the I like the smell of a good
weekend coming up, especially when you know that you're gonna
be here in West Michigan where our fall weekends are
just packed with all sorts of cool stuff.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
Right now, speaking of smells, Pulaski Days officially kicked off yesterday,
Are you kidding me? I want to give a shout
out to my girl Molly, who did pretty incredible the
Pulaski Days Killed Basa eating contest. I'm ready. I mean
she put down you know, I don't have her exact number.
I think she took second place.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Though second place it's a lot of kill boss side
of the magic.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Considering the amount of very proud pollocks that we're at
that hall. Yes, she did phenomena.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
So I'm just curious because we've got Blasky Days here.
Do you know when you watch Joey Chestnut pound a
whole bunch of hot dogs. He dips the buns in
water a lot of time. Do they have to dip
him and mustard? Do you guys do it? Do you
got sour? Crouch can add to it? I feel like
there's no ad.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
You keep it clean and you shove them down. You
shove them down.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Yeah, we're gonna have Actually, it's a really packed weekend,
so it's gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
And the weather looks positively stun.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Up, movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Well.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Singer Sabrina Carpenter definitely in her moment right now, relishing
in some serious success. Her latest studio album, Short and Sweet,
is massive, along with a tour that just kicked off
a week ago, and at only twenty five, she has
definitely not been an overnight success. She's talking about that
in a new interview with Time magazine that I think
(01:54):
kind of sounds like a dig at Disney. So as
part of their Time one hundred Next List, it recognizes
one hundred emerging leaders who are shaped in the future
of the world. She talks about signing a record deal
at twelve with Disney's Hollywood Records, telling the magazine, for
a long time, I was constantly guided and misguided. But
(02:17):
I'm really grateful for all of those times where i
was led astray, because now I'm a lot more equipped
going into situations where I have to trust my own instincts.
Carpenter released four studio albums with Disney owned Hollywood Records
between twenty fifteen and twenty nineteen, as well as acting
in a few Disney shows and movies like Adventures in Babysitting.
(02:39):
And it does not sound like it was real great
for her.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Well, certainly things are going much better for her right now.
Oh yeah, yeah, slightly.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
Michael Jordan's racing team is suing Masscar as well as
it's CEO, Jim France, alleging the organization is nothing but
a bunch of monophylistic bullies. His Airnesses twenty three XI Racing,
along with front Row Motor Sports, filed the lawsuit in
federal court in North Carolina yesterday after the two teams
(03:09):
refused to sign updated packs with NASCAR over what they're
calling unfair terms. In this suit, the team said they
wanted more when it came to extending their charter agreements
beyond this year. A big part of this much more revenue.
But they're saying France and NASCAR would not budge and
eventually pressured them into agreeing to a kind of a
(03:31):
take it or leave it offer that if they didn't
agree to, they would risk losing their charters in the future.
So instead of signing on, the two teams filed their
suit in hopes that a judge will intervene even issue
an injunction that would allow them to compete in twenty
twenty five and beyond. They said, it is about time
someone has taken down NASCAR's unlawful monopoly power.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, it sounds like rich people problems to me. But
I will say that NASCAR really likes Michael Jordan being
a part of the eCos vehicle.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
I have no idea Michael Jordan was a part of NASCAR,
so big, big, sorry to all the NASCAR viewers. It's
not really my cup of tea, but I will keep
a closer eye on that. Finally, a big update in
the Matthew Perry case, Doctor Chavez has officially pled guilty.
One of the doctors charged in connection with Matthew's ketamine
depth one step closer to prison one of the two physicians.
(04:25):
He appeared before a judge in federal court in LA yesterday,
leading guilty do one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine.
He is also cooperating with the government and has begun
the process to surrender his medical license. Remember had that story.
Both of these doctors do still have the ability to practice.
Chavez is facing up to ten years in prison. Sentencing, however,
(04:47):
won't happen until next April.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
It'll be interesting to see, but it seems like being
so cooperative, giving up your license and everything else seems
a whole lot like you're trying to stay out of jail.
In any way.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
I don't think he'll do that, but maybe not the
full ten years. We'll see all of your celebscoop at
West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
Sometimes because I get a good feeling.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Well, let's give you something to light up this morning
a little bit. Thanks for joining us. It's Mack and
schmide with feeling good right now on Star one to
five point seven. And you know, I just loved the
idea of undiscovered treasure. Every time I see stories like this,
I just love it. Back in nineteen sixty two in Italy,
Luigi Looso, a junk dealer in Pompeii, actually found this
rolled up canvas in the basement of a house on
(05:32):
the island of Capri. That whole sentence sounded like a
vacation to me. But the painting just feature this distorted
image of a woman and what appears to be a
signature at the bottom, although you couldn't make it out
for quite some time. But they liked the painting so
they hung it up in their family's home for decades. Again,
this was back in the nineteen sixties. Original they referred
(05:52):
to the painting as the Scribble due to its unusual appearance. Well,
flash forward to the eighties when Luigi and Andrea discovered
that there was a similar painting in one of his
textbooks that was a Pablo Picasso, and so immediately this
family started to find out whether or not it was authentic,
(06:13):
but most experts said no, couldn't be, probably wouldn't And
it wasn't until just recently that they were able to
do extensive forensic evidence on this and confirm that the
handwriting on it is in fact Pablo Picasso. And that
they have a piece of work that has valued at
more than six million dollars that had just been hanging
(06:35):
up in their kitchen for a few decades. And it's
gonna be worth even more if it winds up getting
recognized by the Picasso Foundation in Paris. This whole thing
going up for auction as soon as they get that certification.
But yeah, imagine finding you know, something worth six or
more million dollars that you know, your dad just bound up,
rolled up in a junked place, I mean, just insane.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, that was hanging in my kitchen.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
It wouldn't be worth six million dollars because it'd be
minimum spaghetti sauce. Yeah, all right, big shout out to
our very own dog whisperer in Kalamazoo, just happens to
be Department of Public Safety Sergeant Martin, who carried out
quite the dog rescue the other day. In a social
media post, the Kazu Public Safety team is giving big praise,
(07:19):
saying when a lost dog found itself in and out
of traffic near the Harrison Roundabout in East Michigan, abb
Sergeant Martin stepped in to assist Sergeant Townsend with his
calm and steady approach. He was able to gain the
dog's trust, who then laid down and allowed Sergeant Martin
to safely retrieve him. But the dog is now at
(07:41):
the local shelter thanks to Sergeant Martin's quick thinking and compassion.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Our very own dog whisper. So well done, Sergeant Martin.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, and I don't want to geil to anyone here,
but I feel like with a connection like that Schmidtee,
if nobody comes forward to claim the dog, I feel
like Officer Martin's gotta go back and get that bach.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Real cute.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
I like that. I feel like it comes out to
a couple times today. We always want to say about
people doing great things out there. Incredible story. So if
you need that in your life, and you do, come
and join us again for another round at nine twenty
this morning. Here on Star one on five point seven, movies.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
It's the Celebrities Goop on Star one, Oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Well, Beyonce's Cowboy Carter album may not have seen much
glory at the Country Music Awards, but watch out because
she could be getting a big win at the Grammys.
So the recording Academy's screening committee met to decide which
albums and songs would compete at the big February show
in La Beyonce's Country album emerged as a favorite, set
(08:42):
to appear on the ballots for Best Country Album. According
to The Hollywood Reporter, They've also reportedly crowned Sabrina Carpenter
as the front runner for Best New Artist, which would
be major because we're looking at people like Chapel Roon, Shabooze,
Benson Boone, and Teddy Swins in that.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Category as well.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
It's gonna be big. And Beyonce correct me if I'm wrong,
But is she not already the most decorated Grammy artist
of all time? Smitbi, isn't she tight? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, it's gonna be good to say.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
We've got drama brewing from the loss of John amos
I had the story a couple days ago. The actor
known for work in Good Times, Roots, Coming to America
and West Wing, passed away, his son actually giving the
news that had happened back in August. Well, now the
late actor's family is accusing that son, Kelly Christopher amos Akakse,
(09:36):
of isolating the star from his loved ones. Before his death.
In a statement yesterday, John's relatives say over the past year,
he was isolated completely from family and close friends. Despite
our repeated attempts to maintain contact, Casey prevented access to him,
controlled and monitored his calls completely, severing ties with John's daughter, brother, grandkids,
(09:59):
business manager, god daughter, pretty much every person that was
close to him. The family even says they learned about
his passing through the media like the rest of us,
even though Amos passed back in August. They also find
it very, very odd that John was cremated nine days
(10:19):
after he died. They were never informed about his death
from anyone, no death certificate, no coroner reports. The family
says there are critical questions that need answers, especially since
they believe Casey likely made the decision to have John
cremated without the family's knowledge, and they suspect actions maybe
(10:40):
taken to even alter wills and collect life insurance along
with other benefits.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah, man, it's tough when you see a family instead
of coming together and rallying around after a loved one's passing,
when you start, you know, just putting up the dividing walls,
put in how you know statements like this.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Did you see his goddaughter's statement? She is absolutely gutted.
She's like, I was really really close with him, and
to find out like through TMC that he died over
two months ago was absolutely shocking. Finally, Will Smith got
a little too gassy on the set of Men in Black,
according to the film's director Barry Sonenfeld. He talked on
(11:19):
the new episode of Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly
Rippa yesterday. I turned the conversation recalled a moment where
Will Smith and his co star Tommy Lee Jones, we're
filming a scene where they were in a car traveling
at the super high speeds.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
To get the.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Shot, Will needed to be hermetically sealed in the pod
that was being used as their mode of transportation. Sonenfeld said,
there are lacks to prevent it from opening and falling.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Obviously for safety.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
We said roll camera and I hear Will go, oh geez,
I'm sorry, Tommy, I'm so sorry. Beaz get the ladder,
and you just hear tom Me saying that's fine.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
We'll no worries. Man't worry about it. He farted so bad.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
The director said that the set had to be evacuated
for three hours. Not Sureboddy ain't or what happened. Sonenfeld
goes on to say some people are just farters man.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
He's a rough one, not so fresh prince.
Speaker 6 (12:22):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
The full interview is pretty hysterical. It's up with your
scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Good morning to you. It's Mack and Schmitty. And you know,
I was thinking about what my old screen names were
for AIM, like you just mentioned Schmitty, and I don't
know whether they were so cringey that I've blocked it
out or whether it's you can't remember us. I don't remember, man.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
I had two different ones, and they are pretty embarrassing.
So if you've been on Instagram the last few days,
you may have seen this trend popping up in people's
stories where it's the old school AOL instant messenger sign
and scream screen and then it asks you to drop
your screen name, and it's.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Like, wow, man, I am. I'm an established woman in
my mid.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Thirties and I felt so despicable posting these. So the
one I remember I used the most, in fact, was
my hot mail until I started searching for a job
at twenty two was flick Chick forty five because I
loved movies, and it wasn't until I found myself in
(13:24):
nefarious chat rooms that I realized flick chick didn't mean
movie for everybody. So if that wasn't cringey enough, the
other one I used was Lacey four five, eight seven
because I thought it sounded sexy.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
It does, but that's because it's weird. And by the way,
there's nothing that sounds sexy when you put four numbers
at the end of videos. There had too, right, it
sounds like you're the four thousand some odd Lacy out there.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
So I put it up on our Facebook and I
also put it on our Instagram, and so many of
you would not publicly post them, but DMed me and
some of my absolute cringey favorites Hetty Spaghetti, bubble.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Butt oh five, Peddy Spaghetti, but bubble but buttoh five.
It just rolls off the tongue.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
I lovep I got one from someone who said my
name is Jeff and it starts with a G, so
for five years I went by Preppy boy Ge.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
This one was interesting.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
This came from a girl and she said my screen
name was Jewish boy scout.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
I'm none of those things.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
But my favorite character from the movie it was Stanley,
so she went with that. Bridget Booty Babe twenty one
forty four because I loved the song Bootylicious from us Child.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
You know, it's just these badges of honor that you
have to live with for your time on the internet
using those names. I mean, in all honesty, you can't
be upset when anybody comes at you talking about your butt.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
I think this is my favorite one from Cammie Little
Angle ninety eight because I didn't know how to spell
angel right.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
And you know it's so.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
Good because Aaron, who listens every morning, posted hers as
Ditsy Dory and said, I still love it. I would
try to spell ditzi right this time, and Amber points
out something I know I deal with every morning. This
is a cringe trend because so many people still use
this for something. You guys, how many times I have
(15:33):
taken winter information and they give me their email and
I'm like, oh, so.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
You never changed that from eighth grade.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
Good for you.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
That's on like a public document.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Now, please music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
Some people might think that it couldn't get worse for Ditty,
but now that he's in jail, beds are saying that
they have seen a huge uptick in accusers coming forward
with even more allegations against the rapper. Sources familiar with
the investigations say that victims and witnesses are now stepping
up because they feel less intimidated with Ditty behind bars.
(16:16):
I want to make it clear from this report this
is beyond the one hundred and twenty accusers I had
in the story yesterday that a Houston area attorney said
he is ready to represent accusers are cooperating with federal investigators.
They're providing new information about what they know and Ditty's
alleged criminal activities. Meanwhile, an interesting story has come out
(16:39):
with one witness to one of Ditty's all night parties
talking to US Weekly talking about Denzel Washington once getting
into an all out fight with Ditty over his behavior.
The source, who says they were friendly with Ditty back
in the early two thousands, shared Oscar winner Denzel Washington
and the music mogul Guy into it during an all
(17:01):
night gathering. Denzel at one point, screaming you don't respect anyone.
The incident ended in Washington storming out. According to this source,
Denzel and his wife had been partying until dawn with Diddy,
and then she had seen something and stormed out, is
what this source is saying. Denzel his rep not.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Talking this morning.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
It's just really interesting because I feel like, you know,
all of these stories that anything that's associated with Ditty
now is automatically geared towards this trial and these allegations
and everything else. Because maybe Denzel was upset that he
got his pizza order wrong. I'm just saying, like it
seems weird.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Right, right, So the source says he saw something and
stormed out and left after this fight. Of course, we
don't know who this source is. We've been talking about
the amount of big names in Hollywood that are going
to be a part of this, whether they had any
idea of what was happening or we're simply in the vicinity.
But I think we're going to see a lot more
of these stories coming out as the number of accusers
(18:02):
continues to rise. Travis Kelsey once again trying to shut
down the trolls, saying, despite not having the best start,
to his season. The only number that really matters is
the number in that win column. New episode of the
New Heights podcast dropped yesterday.
Speaker 7 (18:19):
Well struggling in terms of stats, I was still playing
winning football and that that's all the matters. And I
said it on here on the podcast last week. Everything
outside of the building.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Is just noise, just noise, and he says it is
not sidetracking him from the goal of another successful season. Meanwhile,
he has admitted a lot of people talking about Travis's age.
He turns thirty five on Saturday, and does admit he's
got to cut back on the junk food in order
to prolong his NFL career. Talking with his brother Jason,
(18:52):
they had mentioned a box of donuts that was sitting
near the podcast table. He said, good thing they're over there,
explaining he's at the point in the season where he's
got to push all of the goodies away.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
I see that glazed donut just sitting in that yellow box.
I'm like, I don't need that today, home on get
it tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Knowing that we don't have boxes of donuts every day,
I lie to myself and thinks say, I'm not just
gonna grab one now. Look, I'm going to grab ten
stuff my face like a little fat kid.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
I've got to make it.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
As long as I want in this career, and that
means really changing my diet.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Your mid thirties are hard.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, I think we've all heard that voice in our
head talking to us, doing the donut dance back and
forth of.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Like can sometimes I win, sometimes I win. Finally, big announcement.
Fans are so excited Olivia Rodrigo the next big star
to announce a concert special debuting on Netflix. The streamer
will air the Vampire Stars performance from the Intuit Dome
in La. This is her Guts World tour. She says,
(19:51):
I'm so excited to share this with my fans. For
those of you who didn't get a chance to rock
out in person, now you can have the best seats
in the house. And to the fans who did cheer,
scream and dance with me, I'm so glad we get
to do it all over again now. Some fans were
wondering because there were cameras spotted at her Little Caesar's Arena.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Stop.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
It is not going to include any of her Detroit show,
but she says that a lot of the behind the.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Scenes stuff is very cool.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
So the Olivia Rodrigo Concert Special drops on Netflix October
twenty ninth.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
You know, I don't think there's a ton of artists
that can have that kind of demand from their fan
base for something like this. Olivia Rodrigo definitely want.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Points see have it. It's mack and just ready ready
to throw down Battle of the Sexes. And one week
from tomorrow you could find yourself at the home opener
for our Grand Rapids Griffins.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
Yes, Vanandel Arena plays host to Milwaukee Coming into Town.
Four tickets for the fam if you get today's number
one answer? One hundred women surveyed, how do you pass
the time.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
On a flight?
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Bobbing my head up and down uncontrollably because I'm trying
to stay awake so that I don't snore. Really a
fear of mind because oh banned are people sitting next
to me? Not like it.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
I've never flown with my kids, So drinks six one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five seven caller seven, first chance at the
number one answer.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
One hundred women surveyed, how do you.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
Pass time on a flight six one six, four five
eight one o five seven, Good morning star?
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Who's this Jackson? From Jennison Jackson from Genision. Let's get
you in for the Griffins, My friend, you gotta tell me.
When one hundred women were asked how do you pass
the time while on a flight? What was their top answer?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Jackson, I'm gonna get the movie.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Going with that in flight movie a movie you thought
maybe you'd watch sometime, but you wouldn't really do it
if you had any other options. However, that's the number
three most common answer. Sorry Jackson, Ah, thank you, thank you,
Good morning star. Who's this, Jennifer? Jennifer Jackson just gave
me a great guess. When one hundred women were asked,
(21:58):
how do you pass the time while you're on a flight?
He said watching a movie? And that was the number
three most common answer, but not the top one. What
are you going with? Jennifer going with red Yeah, anything
that you can get your hands on, whether you got
a book or a magazine. I often find myself buying
things at the airports read just to cure the boredom
during the flight. But reads the number two answer, Jennifer,
(22:22):
I'm sorry, thank you, thank you, Good morning Star. Here's
this Sanda, Shonda. Let's hope the third times a charm,
because they already got two great guesses. When one hundred
women were asked how do you pass the time while
on a flight? I heard from Jackson who said watch
a movie. That was the number three most common answer,
and I just heard from Jennifer who went with red,
(22:42):
which was the number two most common answer. So there's
one big one left. What do you think it is, Shonda?
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Please?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
I don't know what it is, but I cannot stay
awake on an airplane. Something about the humming or the
vibration of it. It puts me out every time. Shonda. Yeah, well,
and it's a great way to pass the sleeping bang boom.
All of a sudden, you wake up and you're there.
Sleep's the top answer way to go. Yeah, you're going
to the Griffins home opener Friday, October eleven, next Friday.
(23:14):
Congrat Shanda, Well, thank you awesome. Yeah, it's gonna be
a great time. We'll do it again tomorrow. Battle of
the Sexes each weekday eight fifteen. Here on Star one
O five points out it come on in to you.
It's Mac and schmitty, And you know, I think it's
a goal for people who spend way too much time
online going viral. Schmidty, you've gone viral. However, my father
(23:36):
is not someone who has any desire to do that
at any point in time, doesn't care at all. However,
he does.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
He know what it means because I love him. And
Mom's like, oh, you got six, So they don't get what.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Sort of that's what I discovered yesterday. So his lovely
wife sent me a video earlier this week that was
a link to USA Warrior Stories dot org. And I
had no idea about this. Back in the springtime, when
my day dad was in Florida, his sister and his
wife surprised him with this opportunity to talk about his
experience in Vietnam. He was a sergeant in Vietnam, you know,
(24:09):
came back at a really rough time. But was you know, decorated,
decorated sergeant, three purple hearts, two bronze stars for bravery.
I mean, the guy had lived through some crazy stuff.
So his story's absolutely wild and it was so moving
to watch it as his son. So afterwards, I get
through watching this and I call him and I said, hey, Dan,
I just wanted to tell you I just watched the
(24:31):
video that Wilma sent me, and you were incredible. Man,
you did such a great job in that. That was
really I'm really proud of you for not only what
you did, but opening up and talking about your time
as a veteran as well. And it was just this
really great conversation with my dad. And then he's like, yeah,
where did you see it? And I go, well, well,
Wilma sent me a link, so I went right to
the website and he goes, oh, your brother said he
saw it on YouTube, but I didn't put it on YouTube.
(24:53):
And I was like, well, Dad, I'm like, how the
internet works. Is anybody who puts a video on their
website a lot of times they host those videos on YouTube,
so you can't really see it. I'm like, but it's
probably on there. Let me look while I got you
on the phone. So I pull it up, schmiddy, And
of course USA Warrior Stories has their own page on YouTube, right,
and I look and I go, hey, Dad, twenty two
(25:13):
thousand people have watched your video. And he just goes,
what said, yeah, twenty two thousand people, if you know,
click play on your video. On this site and he's like, no, said, yeah,
that's how it is. I'm like, you blew up on
their dad, and he's like, you got to be kidding me.
I didn't even know that it was on YouTube. I'm like, yeah,
(25:34):
they made some shorts on it. They've even got a
Facebook page too, Dad, they put it over there, and
he goes, I cannot believe that. That's unbelievable, and you can.
I can hear my dad, who doesn't seem incredible, doesn't
think anything's incredible, and I could just hear the surprise
in his voice, like, oh my god.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Like people want to hear my story. That's really cool.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
It's really cool. But then my favorite part, he goes,
my dad does this thing where he never hangs up
the phone. He says goodbye, and then he just lets
it sit there and he doesn't actually hang up, so
I get to hear as soon as he hangs up, Wilma,
I viral John Oh, and he's over. It just made
my entire day, because you know, as far as I'm concerned,
(26:14):
this is millions of you.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
I mean, I'll tell you my brother's had a very
different reaction because I posted a video on my TikTok
of their color blindness, which ended up getting one point
two million views, and instead they were like, so you're
just telling everybody we don't know how to do our
primary colors. And I'm like, yeah, but if I get
enough followers, I'll cut you in on that money I.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Got to make.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
I was waiting for that question coming from him to
be like, well, what do they pay me? How much
did they pay me for this time?
Speaker 4 (26:42):
If you figure it out, pass that a long.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Well, always trying to make a beautiful day even better.
Well we can feeling good on Starlet points seven. It's mackay.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
So it happens, right, those chaotic, crazy, beautiful moments where
someone says something that just hits, That's exactly what happened
last night with the Detroit Tigers celebrating a sweep of
the Houston Astros of five to two.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
Win yesterday, what was even cooler. Manager A. J. Hinch
leading his team to a sweep against.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
His old ball club, so naturally he was gonna be
pretty stoked. Right before they popped the champagne in the clubhouse,
Hinch was in the middle of a big speech when
he had what Tigers fans are calling one of the
most iconic lines in Tiger's history.
Speaker 6 (27:35):
Listen, I'm not sure who, but somebody let the Tigers
get hot.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
Ah, Listen, I'm not sure who, but somebody let the
Tigers get hot. It has been shared thousands of times,
the rallying cry for our eat'm up Tigers as they
now advance to the Alds. They're taking them the Cleveland
Guardians this Saturday. It's a one o'clock game. You will
(28:01):
hear that on our sister station, Wood Radio.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
It is an iconic line. You're gonna see t shirts
with that written. So good, Sure, so good. I love
to see it, all right, schminde. Of course, we have
all been watching the events unfold down south after Hurricane Helene,
as the damage continues to be reported and the list
of casualties sadly continues to go up, and people are
out there doing what they can to help, including right
(28:24):
here in West Michigan, where I got to shout out
a local business owner, Marcus Mooney, the owner of Mooney's
Autobody Experts in Howard City back on Sunday, decided he
wanted to help. He wanted to raise donations, was gonna
fill up his truck and trailer and bring his family
down south to hit some of those hardest hit areas well.
Then he started a go fund me and quickly realized
(28:45):
that there were a whole lot of people here in
West Michigan that wanted to help, including Brad Peasley Trucking
in Stanton, who decided to donate a semi truck to
Mooney so that he could bring even more supplies. And
as he told thirteen, on your Side, and he just
cannot believe the outport of support that has been coming
in from people all over West Michigan.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Never would have dreamed this, honestly. I like I said,
I just want to load up one trailer and head
down there and I plan on taking my wife and
kids with me to just kind of have the kids
experience that. But it's turned into a lot more than that.
And then once the community kind of found out what
we were doing, I shared it on Facebook to get
the GoFundMe out. It blew up. So as of this morning,
we were eight hundred dollars away from our five thousand
dollars limit, so we upped our limit. It's been five
(29:28):
cities wide that we've had stuff coming in from White
Cloud Newego grant all the way down to Rockford and
it's all going to be coming in tonight and tomorrow.
So that just thank you to everybody.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah, being thankful to the community that keeps continuing to donate.
I just looked at the GoFundMe. It's up over six
thousand dollars now and continuing to climb. And if you'd
like to make some in person donations, you can do
that at Mooney's Autobody Experts there in Howard City, and
I'll make sure and post that gofund me up for
you too, West Michigan Star dot com. But always love
to see the support here in West Michigan and always
(29:59):
love pointed out with feeling good coming at you a
couple times a day. We'll do it again free tomorrow
six forty five and nine twenty here on Start one
oh five point seven Mack and Schmidty in the morning
weekday starting at six am on Star one oh five
