Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake up. It gets my day going and makes me laugh.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it. Mac Inchmitty in the Morning on Star
one O five point seven, Good morning, Schmitty, Happy Friday,
b Friday TG. I am to each of you as.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
We start out this morning in a little wets.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
In most areas around West Michigan. Do you have the
windows open last night?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Did you wake up and hear you did not know?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
It was really chilly north of the city. Yeah, but
take your time this morning. The hydroplaning is real.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
You're not kidding.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I actually had one of those, like you know, white
knuckle moments where I was getting onto the highway and
there was a semi that was coming and you know,
you're on your child choices are slowed down, get behind
them or speed up. Well, they were doing about fifty
five and so when I hit the gas, I felt
those tires just spin and then.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Catch and I was like, oh wow, thikes, this is fast.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah, take your time.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Well, singer Matty Heally may have some bad blood once
again with the Swifties. After a very interesting interview. The
frontman of the nineteen seventy five opened up about his
upcoming music soon to drop during an appearance on the
Doom Scroll podcast, hinting unlike Taylor, although he never officially
names her, he will not be writing about his love life.

Speaker 6 (01:26):
You know, like if I made a record about I
don't know all the stuff that was said about me
or my casual romantic liaisons or whatever it may be
that I've kind of become known for just because I
was famous. I think that that's an obvious thing to
draw from, and I'm just not interested in it.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
He goes on to say, you know, some people do that,
and I just don't think it's a very interesting take,
ending it by saying, you know, I'm sure there's going
to be some kind of love song on there. I'm
not in the world of did you see what happened?
Here's my version of it. I think that's for other
artists to do.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, I don't like my rock stars to love the
smell of their own farts because it smells. That's what
Mattie Healy seems like to me. I'm above that, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Let's continue into the investigation and the passing of one
direction star Liam Payne. If you missed the breaking news yesterday,
officials storming the Buenos Aires hotel to continue the investigation.
Law enforcement now looking into hotel employees. Here's what they're
working theory, or at least some of it is right now,

(02:39):
Authorities investigating the possibility that a hotel employee actually delivered
drugs to Liam, which has them focusing on something very interesting,
a dove soap box that was found in his room.
You actually can see it clearly in the photographs that
were released. It was seen on the desk with some
other drug paraphernalia. They're kind of wondering now the soapbox

(03:01):
may have been used to secretly hand off the drugs
to Liam. They've been looking into hotel employees for several
days now, and sources close to the investigation say they
have one particular employee they are looking into, very very seriously,
investigating whether that employee also gave him cocaine, ketamine, and ecstasy,

(03:21):
as well as a form of crystal meth, which could
mean serious charges.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I feel like it's a it's a really good thing,
but I also think it's kind of a new thing
where we've seen all of these police investigations after celebrities
like you know, we just saw with Matthew Perry and
Demi Lovado had happened where they just go after the
people that they can find out sold these drugs to people.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Well, I wonder if this is just new for famous people,
because they've been doing this forever, Like I mean, whenever
you have a possible drug death, don't they always look
for the dealer.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Maybe this is just like a new Hollywood thing.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Finally, a Lady Gaga has reportedly been forced to push
back her next global tour because there's too many other
stars that have booked out the arenas. She was allegedly
planning to tour across the world, including overseas in the UK,
but with other artists like Oasis, Beyonce, Coldplay, Dua Lipa

(04:20):
and Springsteen also planning huge concerts next year, there's no
space for Gaga. The Sun has reported that she's been
forced to push her tour back until twenty twenty six,
while she's planning what she hopes is the biggest tour
of her career. She already sold out, of course, two
nights at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for that chromatica Ball

(04:41):
tour back in twenty twenty two, and the demand was
so huge she wanted to go even bigger. Her next
album will be out in the new year, and she
had hoped to spend most of her summer on tour,
but because of these other stars, there's just no room
at the inn, this source says. So she's gonna have
to make twenty twenty six work. Apparently she I'm not
super happy about that.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I mean, it's a long ways off. Still much.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Have you ever seen Lady Gaga Laine? I would love to.
I think she'd be amazing to see life. She's just
my best friend.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Star said. It was absolutely mind blowingly phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
All of your celebscoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Sometime does that get a good feeling?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yes, is easier to be feeling good on a Friday,
but we'll lift you up too. It's feeling good on
Star War five point seven. And this one is maybe
for a little spooky adventure with the family Schmidty because
the haunting of storybook Hello, a haunted trail through the
backyard of a home in Alpine tom Ship in Counstout
Park is back open again and in its full glory See.

(05:41):
After being hit by a tornado last summer, the Halloween
Haunting Ground is going to be back and better than ever.
This is all done thanks to Jennifer dunnahe who works
throughout the year to get every skeleton lined up and
ready to go. Displays following the storybook Graveyard with characters
from fairy Tea like snow White, Cinderella Peter Panned, but

(06:02):
obviously done in a much more creepy way. This is
really cool because this came together this year, bigger and
better than ever before because of a tornado, as I mentioned,
that ripped through last year. She told WOODCV that when
I first came out up the tornado hit, you couldn't
see anything under the trees, so we had no idea
what the extent of the damage was. Everything was just
hanging upside down and it was pretty devastating.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Even with that damage, she was able.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
To put up a sort of muted version of her
storybook classic, but it wound up not being her full
vision and that's where friends, neighbors, and herself got to
work hard for this year's display gonna be much closer
to what she was intending. However, she's been having some
bit of success with this sh Middy. You might remember

(06:46):
she was actually on the Great Halloween Fight or Freight
Fight last year the television show showed it off. So
this year it's even bigger than ever. You are going
to see things that you might recognize because Jennifer also
has been a huge part.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Of Art Prize over the last few years.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
She's the one that did Twig the Forest Dragon and
Serpentina the Dragon, two huge displays. Those are mixed in there.
So it is absolutely massive and my favorite part. It's
totally free, but they take donations that all go to
the West Michigan Humane Society.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Very nice.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
How awesome is that Jennifer talking to how excited she
is to have people come and see it again.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
It's just fun to see things like, you know, really
take shape and you know, be able to visualize something
and then actually have it, like come to Fruition, I'm
going to keep.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
If you want to check it out, it's at forty
nine to seventy bitty Ford Drive, Northwestern Comstock Park, and
you can also check out their Facebook page for times
and details.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
At Storybook Hunts all Right, NFL Star for San Francisco
forty nine or Star Deepo Samuel is going viral after
reaching out to a very distraught young fan who is
done with fantasy football. Bill Parsnells is his name. He
posted his young son on TikTok a couple nights ago.
He's just having a really hard time with his team.

Speaker 7 (08:02):
Buddy, what's the matter?

Speaker 4 (08:04):
I'm gone with football?

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Why?

Speaker 8 (08:07):
What?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
What? What happened everything?

Speaker 9 (08:10):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (08:10):
My players are getting hurt and they're like some of
the best ones.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Who's hurt now?

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Greg Godwin's hurt and now Lambs in the I mean,
Deebo Samuel's in the hospital and CJ gow can do anything.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
CJ Stroud's sucking right now. Courtland, Hey, you gotta look
at the waiver wire and keep it moving.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
That's all you can do.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
He's gotta look at the wave of keep it going, buddy.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Well, Debo ended up seeing the video and popped right
into the comments and said, no worries, I'm okay, buddy,
with a bunch of exclamation points, clearly fixing all of this,
and I'm sure Bill's little guy is back on board
with fantasy football. The video's pretty cute. West Michigan Star

(09:03):
dot Com.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
That's awesome. What a fantasy football. Dad there too. That's
not like you know, son, It's okay, It's just a game. Instead,
he's like, oh no, we'll check the waiver wire. We're
gonna get this.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
You're in fantasy football. You go all in.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Feeling good comes at you a couple times a day.
I always want to give you something, put a positive
spin on your day, and take it with you. Right,
we'll do it again coming up at nine to twenty
here on Starvital five points seven.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
I mean watching this play out in real life has
been fascinating. The Menendez brothers are officially a step closer
to potentially walking free from prison. Yesterday, LA District Attorney
George Gascon officially filed emotion asking a judge to change
the brother's sentences from life without the possibility of parole

(09:55):
to life with the possibility of parole because if time serve,
this would allow them to potentially be released from prison immediately.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
I have to tell you that after a very careful
review of all the arguments that were made for people
on both sides of this equation. I came to a
place where I believe that under the law, resentencing is appropriate.
What that means in this particular case is that we're
going to recommend to the court that the life without

(10:26):
the possibility of parole be removed under the law. Since
they were under twenty six years of age at the
time that the scrimes occurred, they will be eligible for
parole immediately.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
It's a pretty lengthy document, but basically some of the
things the DA points out, Eric and Lyle have been
upstanding inmates and no longer present a risk to public safety.
The DA points out programs like Eric's Life Care and
Connections organization, which provides support for disabled and elderly inmates,
as well as Vibe that's an organization dedicated to victim

(11:00):
impact and empathy. Both of the brothers are involved in that,
and he says there's lots of examples of them demonstrating
efforts put in to make their prison community a better place.
He points to their discipline records. He says the two
boys have been written up just eight and five times
respectively in over thirty years of incarceration. Also points out

(11:22):
their age. They are now both over fifty, he says
the likelihood they commit another crime has massively decreased. However,
even though he points out quite a few family members
advocating for their release, not everyone is on board. He
does cite an uncle of the brothers who wishes for
them to remain in prison. It's also very interesting some
of the cops that were part of this case in

(11:44):
the Beverly Hills PD not okay with the brothers getting out.
A hearing set for the end of November.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
It's pretty wild just to hear the conflicting viewpoints on
whether or not these guys should get out. It honestly
makes me feel a little gross on the inside, just
in that you're talking about people have been in prison
for more than thirty five years, so I get the
idea of getting out. At the same time, it feels
gross to almost feel like there's a celebration that these
guys are getting out.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
So Kim Kardashian has weighed in on this as well.
I'll have that next hour in your scoop. Jamie Fox
recently addressed whether Sean Diddy Combs was responsible for his
mysterious hospitalization last year. So remember he is taping a
new Netflix special called What had Happened Was, and three
eyewitnesses who attended those tapings say Fox discussed allegations that

(12:34):
Combs actually caused his hospitalization. It's interesting, though, audience members
have kind of a different recollection of exactly what the
comedian said. So a videographer, producer, and director who worked
on this said he attended two of the three shows.
He says that Jamie has a special coming out. I
went to the taping. It was three days. I went

(12:55):
to the first. In the last show, and he says,
according to Fox, Diddy was responsible for what happened to him,
and Fox is the one who called the FBI on Combs.
It's unclear whether these alleged comments will be included in
the final cut of the special. A lot of people
weighing in on this, even asking if maybe this was
presented as a joke, to which this videographer said, no,

(13:18):
I don't think it was a joke. I know when
someone's coming up with a punchline, and I can tell
when they're serious, and this was dead serious. Fox apparently said,
did he did something to me? I'm the one who
called the FEDS on him because.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
I was so scared.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Oh, my goodness.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
I mean, yeah, obviously all the Diddy stuff about him
drugging people at these parties and stuff like that comes
to your mind first and foremost. But what a twist
that would be to this whole thing?

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Be very very interesting.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Finally, New Orleans getting ready for the Eras Tor Taylor
Swift got a larger than life welcome. Have you seen
the outside of the Caesars super Dome decked out in wait,
what might be the biggest friendship bracelet ever? Fitted in
a one hundred and forty foot long double friendship bracelet.

(14:06):
Obviously in honor of Taylor, workers had to use orklifts
taying inflatable banners that actually spelled out in alphabetical beads.
Taylor Swift the Aras Tour very exciting stuff. Of course,
she will be there this weekend and is super super excited.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
That's pretty impressive.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
It's very good us in your scoop at West Michigan.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Start up, hut Mack and Schmiddy here on Starlin five
points seven and Schmeddi I think you know, normally got
a bun on top of your head.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
This is a different look, very different look. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
I walked around for most of yesterday with a unicorn
horn on. You know, maybe this is just mom's I
don't know, juggling a million things and when something like
one thing happens, it just gets pushed right to the
back of your mind. I picked my daughter up from
preschool yesterday twelve thirty pm. That timeline is important here,
So I picked her up from preschool. We got home

(14:56):
about quarter to one. We're having lunch, and I told
you she's going as a U Unicorn ferry for Halloween.
So every day we get home and she wants to
put her costume on, make sure it's still great. And
it comes with this really cute unicorn headband. It's got
a bunch of tool on it and then a giant
rainbow colored horn. And at some point while we were

(15:17):
having lunch, she like climbed up on the chair with
me and put the headband on. She's like, Mom, I
want to see you in this.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
It's well for sure.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
And then I forgot that was on my head. So
I walked the dogs, I went and got coffee, I
grabbed a prescription from Meyer. I did some work out
in our front lawn for six and a half hours.
I walked around with that unicorn headband on my head.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
You're not a normal mom. You're a fun mom.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
And the only reason I figured it out was last
night when I sat down to do some work, which
usually includes my social media. I went to post a
story on my Instagram and went, oh, my unicorn. Lord,
this has been on my head for an entire half
of a day. No one said an.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
To me that tis the season.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
No, Like.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
I walked by multiple neighbors and I feel like I
didn't even get a strange look from them. And I
don't know if that says more about them or me
that I would have a unicorn headband on and they'd
be like, just another day with schmidty, have a good one.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Wasn't exactly muted either. This thing's like tie die full of.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
It's rainbow and full of tool.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
It is something you would see as part of like
a dance competition outfit all day yesterday.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Well, you know, I haven't worn unicorns. It reminds me
very much of you know, searching for twenty thirty minutes
for your sunglasses to find them on top of your head.
But for guys, it makes me think of all the
times I've walked around with my fly down forever, not
even thinking about it, or my shirt backwards, because I've
had entire days where I've gone through life with my
inside out or backwards.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
I feel like the barn door open is a pretty
usual thing. I've literally left the house with two curlers
still in my hair.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Like I have such thick, big hair.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
I missed two of them, and I'm going to an
event and thank goodness, someone walks up and they're like, hey,
I don't think you did that on purpose. I'm like, oh,
oh my, can you please fish that out of the
rat's nest that I have going on? I mean, I
can't be alone in this. I posted this up on
my Facebook and Aaron said that she had a baby
shark bow that was meant for her two year old

(17:21):
that somehow made its way into her messy bun and
she went all day with baby shark on the top
of her head.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
You know, I'm just wondering why people are going do
do do do do?

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Do?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Beg there she sent a picture. It's cute. You could
pull it off, don't.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
I don't know if it's as noticeable as a unicorn
horn six one six four five eight one oh five seven.
I think I'm really talking to my mom's out there.
What have you left the house accidentally wearing?

Speaker 4 (17:47):
And and how long did it take.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
You to realize? Was it six and a half hours?
Like myself shut out to my neighbors that didn't say
a word.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
It's any times this goll and Sea Tay time.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Spill the two sweetheart, it is tea time on your
Friday morning. Thanks for doing it with us, Mack and
Shiddi here on Star one oh five point seven. We're
on Fridays. We share your dirt, your gossip. Send it
into us anonymously. Of course, you can always sit us
up Facebook and Instagram at West Michigan Star.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
All right, here's the school drama. This morning, we got
an email from another mom. That's all she'll say. Morning, guys,
how do we feel about hot adult Halloween costumes? There's
a mom at school that goes all out for Halloween activities.
She set up a trunk or treat, organizes the classroom party,
even put together a pumpkin scavenger hunt. But she comes

(18:35):
in costume and it's not always dot dot dot the
most appropriate. I've heard lots of parents talking about it,
but no one's brought it up to her, including the school.
Is it their responsibility? I feel bad. I think she
feels super confident, but school is definitely not the spot
right now. She did not send a picture along, so
I'm not sure exactly how hot quote unquote this adult

(18:58):
Halloween costume is.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Okay, I do find it.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
I do find it weird, like if we're talking some
of the stuff you can get online at school.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
That's what I wonder, because to me, when I hear
subtly undertoned here, Schmidty is there's a hot, attractive mom
who's super active and involved in her classroom, and she
wears a costume that clearly the school doesn't think is
inappropriate enough. I doubt she's going as like sexy nurse
or something like that, And there I see.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
I disagree with you on that. I'm not sure this
school would get involved. I think this is a really
very tricky territory for them, where it's gonna be like,
we don't want a lawsuit, right, we don't want this
to be something that is a bigger issue than it
is currently. And we have a very split audience on this.
Heidi rates as long as she's covered, let her be

(19:46):
people wear short skirts and low cut tops all the time,
not just as costumes. The kids probably don't even notice
such things. Sounds like she does a ton of work
to make sure kids have a great time. Making her
feel bad may make her pull back, and then the
kids lose out if someone didn't like her costume, which
I respect. I do respect thinking about the kids and
how much time and effort she puts in. But then

(20:06):
Stephanie said, ooh, there is a right place for hot
adult costumes, and a kid's school is not one of you.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah, we're gonna need photos. That's what I think has
to happen here. We got to hit her back, Shmidi
and say you need to undercover. Go ahead and take
a shoe.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
I'm also going back to the lawsuit thing. Please don't
do that.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Well, it is the breaking scoop out of California everyone
was talking about yesterday. LA District Attorney George Gascon officially
filing emotion asking a judge to change the Menendez Brothers' sentences.
This would go from life without the possibility of parole
to life with the possibility of parole, and because if

(20:54):
time served, it could allow Eric and Lyle Menendez to
potentially be released from prison asap. Here's piece of that
press conference yesterday.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
I came to a place where I believe that under
the law, resentencing is appropriate. We're going to recommend to
the court that the life without the possibility of parole
be removed. Under the law. Since they were under twenty
six years of age at the time that the scrimes occurred,
they will be eligible for parole immediately.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Very interesting. Kim Kardashian, who actually met with the brothers
in prison just a few weeks ago, sounded off on
her stories on Insta yesterday, saying thank you Gascon for
revisiting the Menendez brother's case and writing a significant wrong
to the brother's family, friends, and the millions who have
been vocal supporters. Your voices were heard. Even gives a

(21:44):
little shout out to Ryan Murphy. The media's focus, especially
on the heels of Ryan Murphy's TV show that big
Netflix special helped expose the abuse and injustices in their case.
Kim goes on to say society's understanding of child abuse
has evolved, and social media empowers us to question the
systems in place. This case highlights the importance of challenging

(22:06):
decisions and seeking truth even when guilt is not in question.
It's interesting that's one side of this. There's another side
that think this is a big political move. The DA
up for reelection and has been lagging behind in the
polling numbers, so some in his district feel like this

(22:27):
was a big move to try and.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Gain some support.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Honestly, that's just another part of it that makes me
feel uneasy about this whole thing, because I'm fascinated by
the number of investigators and attorneys that worked on this
that are split as to these guys should get out
right now and no, they should definitely never.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Given their family, I mean the majority of their family
believes they should get out. There is an uncle that's
been very vocal about keeping them in. But worth pointing
out once again because I see people are like, oh,
this happened so fast. They've been working on this case
for over a year. There is a lot that went
into all different kind of things to look got here,
including the brother's time in prison. Denzel Washington got real

(23:05):
fired up at paparazzi and fans asking for autographs, going
full training day, As they say, the video just dropped
the actor posing for picks outside of New York City's
Museum of Modern Art, but was not real stoked with
the over zealous crowd.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Take a listen, all right, and I'll.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
See you when I get out.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Or not, We're doing another way way.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
I can do it both ways, he said, listen. I
told you I'll see you when I get out. I
mean he was headed into the museum and then turned
right back around to be like you need to pipe down.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
It was very.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Bieber esque, where remember that meme that's gone viral where
he's like, can you Jai, guys, just not do this
right now in front of me?

Speaker 2 (23:56):
You're not kidd Though, that did make me think of
Denzel Training Day. I was ready for him to.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Be like God, all right.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Finally, this could affect a lot of your favorite Hallmark
Christmas movies. An age discrimination lawsuit claims a Hallmark exec
does not want to cast quote unquote old talent as
they do not align with the channel's image. So Penny
Perry is a casting director who's been with Hallmark for
almost a decade, filed a lawsuit in LA accusing the

(24:26):
defendants Hallmark Executive VP of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daily, Senior
VP of Programming and Development Randy Pope, as well as
VP of HR Paul Hodgkinson, of wrongful termination, age and disability, discrimination, defamation, retaliation,
and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Perry alleges Hamilton Daily

(24:46):
decided she was too old to work in her position
and maneuver to push her out of the company as
part of her goal to find new talent, but she
also brings in some leading ladies, including Robinson Pete who
is sixty, Lacey Shavert from Me and Girls, who's forty two,
and Desperate Housewife star Terry Hatcher, who's fifty nine, saying

(25:08):
she called them old talent who needed to be replaced,
saying no one wants these women anymore. They're too expensive,
they're getting too old, They're not good for our leading roles.
Now Hallmark has denied these allegations, seeing well they don't
generally comment on pending litigation. Lacey, Holly and everyone will
always have a home at Hallmark.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I'm sorry, did this person really think that the harlem
Mark channel is known for being this youthful place. If
it weren't for the thirty five and up female Crowchwitty,
that wouldn't even be a chance.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
That's what the lawsuit is saying. All of your celeb
scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Let's throw down on this Friday morning, shall we Mack
and Schwiddy, and it's time to play Battle of the
Sexies for your very last chance to be at the
greatest show on Earth.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
We're so excited. We're taking the kids tonight, doing a
whole dinner downtown. The Ringling Brothers and Barnem and Bailey
are bringing the show to Vanandel opens tonight, goes through Sunday.
Your chance to win that final four pack with today's question.
One hundred men surveyed. Name something you get into and
get out of every day.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Something you get into get out out of my shoes.
I get into my shoes and out of my shoes
multiple times.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
You could be a hard one. There's a lot of them.
There's a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
If you're my kids, that trunk or treat candy, getting
into it, trying to get out of the house with it.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Six one, six, four, five eight.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
One five seven, caller seven, You've got the chance at
the number one answer. One hundred men survey name something
you get into and get out of every day to
be headed to the Greatest Show with Star one oh
five point seven.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Good morning Star.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Who's this Alison?

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Where are you calling from today?

Speaker 8 (26:43):
Tell me?

Speaker 2 (26:44):
All right, Allison, let's see if we can get you
our last four pack of tickets for Ringling Brothers in
Bonnam and Bailey starting tonight, rolling through the weekend there
at Van Andel Arena.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
You gotta tell me what.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
One hundred guys were asked to name something you get
into and out of every day.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
A lot of things that could apply this. What do
you think? The top answer, Yes, I.

Speaker 7 (27:02):
Mean I'm thinking their pants.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
You're thinking their pants. They're clothes.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I can imagine why you'd be thinking that, because you
do have to get into them and out of them
every day. Unfortunately, but close is the number four most
common answer.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I'm sorry, all right, thank you, Hi Star. Who's this?

Speaker 5 (27:20):
This is Jackson from Jennison.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Jackson from Jennison. I just got a great guess. It
was the number four most common answer, though. One hundred
guys were asked to name something you get into and
out of every day. And I just heard pants and
clothes was the number four most common answers. You got
a chance at this last pair of Ringling Brothers tickets, Jackson,
what do you think? The top answer is, I'm gonna
go with your bet.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
You go to sleep and you wake up every day.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Right, you go to sleep, you wake up every day
in and out of bed. You gotta do it.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Top answer, Jackson, not too.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Shabby on a Friday. What you're going to Ringling Brothers
in Barnum and Bailey this week? Can Van Andelerina. You
got some kiddos, They're gonna be pretty stoked, Jackson.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Now I'm going to bring my girlfriend and probably come friends.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
H So what a blast?

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Yeah, Ringling Brothers have been Barnum and Bailey the greatest
show on Earth. Definitely a show for everybody going on
tonight through Sunday at Van Andelerina. Big congrats to all
of our star winners. Congratulations Jackson, thank you.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
I'm moving into you.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
It's Mack and Schmidty and let's talk Halloween Halls for
a second, because when you were a kid, you'd be
going through and you'd basically be removing all the terrible
stuff that somebody would give to you, but that'd be
trade bait right off the bat with your siblings. So
I want to know what is the worst thing that
you would find in your Halloween candy each and every year?

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Schmitty is there? You said you got a new one.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
I've got a new one.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
You've got a new one. What's your new NTE?

Speaker 3 (28:45):
My kids went trunk or treating and they got a
small bottle of water.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
So here's here's how i'll I get it.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
I get it, I appreciate, I respect the healthy side
of it. I get that you're trying to keep the
kids hydrated because you're going to be sprinting to a
bunch of different houses.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
But like we got home them, my daughter just took
it out, looked at me and.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Was like, why, I don't know, baby, I gotta stay hydrated,
gotta stay hydrated. All right, Well, Schmitty, I put this
up on Facebook last night. You guys went off. We
got hundreds of comments on there. So I've compiled a
quick top five, very scientific top five here of the
worst things people hand out at Halloween. And I will
say that, thankfully, it's a lot better today than it was.

(29:25):
Weird kids, because a few of these will be on there.
You'll recognize. Number five fruit anything, apples make fruit? Yeah,
hold the razor blades that.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Never really happened anyway.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I don't mind apples oranges or those little boxes of
sun kissed raisins people would hand out when I was
a kid, and I haven't seen anyone do that long time.
Number four black licorice and good in plenties.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Ros Oh, good in plenties. That's controversial.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
It is because you know, I put them together because
obviously they taste it. I hate black Lickerson and I
like good and plenty a lot of people I like
good and places. Does that make any sense?

Speaker 6 (29:52):
All right?

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Three unidentifiable hard candy Schmitty. We're talking the stuff that
grandma and Grandpa would be pulling out of their purses.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
And those root beer.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Bear unwrapped unidentifiable candy.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, that's messed up, all right.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Number two is a tie between candy corn and those
marshmallows circus peanuts that you like never see anymore because
they were the grossest things of all time. Yeah, just
so nasty and candy corn, we all can agree, is trash.
Number one Schmitty, and you see it over and over
again on our Facebook right now at West Michigan Star.
It was the bane of my existence as a child,

(30:26):
because there were more of these in any bag of
candy that you would get than anything else. Those stupid
orange and black peanut butter taffy.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
Kisses, those are discussed.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Who even gives those out anymore?

Speaker 4 (30:37):
Younker treat the other night?

Speaker 2 (30:41):
I feel like I haven't seen those go into a
kid's bag in years, and there's good reason for because
those things made nasty.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Man. Can I just really quick give a heads up?
Hey Beth, could you let.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Us know where you trigger treated? Where all your neighbors
just gave out money.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I've had that happen before.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Like I was, I've got a mortgage, I just got
my electric bill. And that's where I would like to
take myself as an adult. I'll dress up and everything.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Consider this your public service announcement to not give out
any of these things this year at Halloween.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Some down does I get a good feeling?

Speaker 2 (31:20):
I want to help you roll into the weekend feeling good.
Right now on Starlein O fon point seven s backage
Fitty with you, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Well? The service never ends for Our Veterans, a ninety
seven year old World War Two veteran being recognized for
his efforts to raise thousands of dollars to send veterans
on honor flights. See every Wednesday. Veterans made up Margeston't
It Done in Wyoming for a PTSD support group. They

(31:46):
find sharing their stories and supporting each other is a
big path to healing. The group has been meeting for
eleven years and it's made up of veterans representing almost
eighty years of conflict. One of those veterans, Dave Lowe,
who understands that some of the biggest problems and artist

(32:06):
obstacles adjusting to life back home.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
But low also realized.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
One of the best ways to adjust is to continue
that act of service. Low got to go on an
honor flight. That's where veterans head to Washington, d C.
To see the war memorials that were erected in honor
of them, and by that flight, he realized raising money
for other veterans to attend was going to be his
new passion. Ninety seven Okay, he just celebrated that birthday

(32:31):
on Wednesday at Marg's alongside his fellow veterans. Put in
an entire summer of work and donated over five thousand dollars,
helping nine veterans participate in an honor flight earlier this month,
well on that big birthday, Low was recognized for his efforts,
something that Marine Corps veteran Eric Winters saw firsthand. He
was on that flight that inspired all this hard work.

Speaker 8 (32:54):
You had something to do, which meant a lot. And
when you don't have that anymore, what's my sense of purpose?
And without that we lose direction. So these meetings they
give a sense of purpose. They give us direction and
propels us to find more things to continue to serve

(33:14):
our country. Powerful, inspirational. I mean, I can't say enough
words of how wonderful it was.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
And it was just one veteran coming up with this idea,
A very very moving moment for Dave, who admits to
Wood he didn't really have many words.

Speaker 10 (33:29):
I tried to say something, but I couldn't. That was
just too emotional to have somebody paid tribute to you.
The way that they did is to me is something else.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Ninety seven years old, raising five thousand dollars to send
fellow vets to Washington, d C. The plans are not
over yet he's going to keep going raising money for
another honor flight in West Michigan that's coming up next.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
May too cool, Smithy, You're a hundred percent right. The
service doesn't stop. Very cool, all right, Smitty. I want
to talk about a Hudsonville High School teach, I'm sure
in cross country coach Rachel Figurski, who was over at
Hudsonville High School and in front of her classroom that
made out of little paper letters and numbers, says talent
times effort equals skill. Skill times effort equals achievement, and

(34:15):
she believes it, she lives it.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
She is a marathoner.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Who had been running tons of races, getting personal best
times all throughout the you know, twenty eighteen to twenty
twenty two time period. But that's when things got bad
because she had a weird pain in her leg that
she thought might just be a stress fracture something from
being overstretched. Was worse than that. A visit to the
doctor told her that she had bilateral labram tears in

(34:39):
both legs and that her hips were not shaped correctly
and she was going to need surgery on both of
her femurs to have them shaved down. At her hips
to get them to work right. Well, if that wasn't
bad enough, just a few months later, she discovered she
also needed a knee surgery. So three major surgery in

(35:00):
just a short period of time in nine months put
everything on hold, and for her that meant a big
deal because running such a big part of her life.
As she explained to Fox seventeen.

Speaker 9 (35:10):
I'm a math teacher, I'm a runner, I'm a coach.
Like those are my first three things I think of
When I was not able to run it. That was
really hard because I felt like I got removed from
that group. I just made me miss it more and
want to do it more. I want to show my
girls and also my students that like, resilience matters and
you can get back to what you want to do.
So I'm doing that.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
And get back to it she has.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
After just six weeks after her doctors gave her the
go ahead to run again, she ran in the Chicago Marathon.
Has since run three more marathons, and his next step
is the New York City Marathon, which is going to
take place next Sunday in NYC. And it's that same
math equation that she knows is going to push her
across the finish line.

Speaker 9 (35:50):
Talent times effort equal skill and skill times effort equals achievement,
whether it's a new PR, I want to run a marathon.
I want to get an A in my math class. Right,
it comes down to your effort.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
That's the kind of teacher I definitely want my kids.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Haven't you good luck?

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Love that feeling good comes at you a couple times
a day. I want to tell about people doing great
things in our world, and we will do it again
on Monday, six forty five and nine twenty every weekday
on Star Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting
at six am on Star one oh five point seven
