Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on West Michigan's Christmas
station Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Oh, good morning, Schmitty, Hey.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Good morning. Listen.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
I'm not usually one to be like shirk your responsibilities,
but uh.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
It is rainy and cold, and if.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
You've got some PTO you need to use before the
end of the year, I go ahead and take the
morning off today.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
It's not a terrible day to do. Just yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Rain showers across West Michigan this morning. Hi, today, I'm
gonna be up near fifty degrees is Hopefully some of
those showers will clear out as this morning goes by
and we get into the afternoon hours.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
But friends, that's a stay in bed day.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Yeah, not bad for it. Schmitty, you know that you
cost me a bet yesterday. My god, last night we
were lucky enough to be part of an awards ceremony
for the Helen of Oz Children's.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Hospitals celebration of Philanthropy. It was very cool.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
It was very cool, and uh, you and our good
friend Ali Mac from B ninety three were set to
give a speech as iHeartMedia West Michigan was going to
accept the community partner Ward over there for the work
we do with Radio thon together with you guys. I
said one that both you and Ali would be in jumpers.
I told my wife, I'm like, I'll bet you twenty bucks.
(01:11):
Ali and Schmiddi both wearing knockout killer awesome jumpsuits. No,
you guys both let me down. I don't think I
see you do not pull the formal jumpsuit.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Look in like three years, I don't have like formal
formal jumpsuit like that.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Though, that was like a very classy event last night.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I actually kept my name tag because it was so nice.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Oh did you?
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I just kidding, But they gave her up because they
were like, hey, we recycle these.
Speaker 6 (01:36):
I'm like, oh, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
That actually makes perfect sense because they were the nicest
magnet name tags I had ever seen given out an
event before.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I'm like, you guys did this for us.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Very sustainable there at the Core Well Health. But it
was really really cool. A couple of other wonderful organizations
Acrassure also getting an awesome award. So we're just super thankful,
and it's awesome because we really get to gear up
and start talking that December fifth and sixth, we're back
at it raising all of that gorgeous money with you,
each and every one of you with our Radiothon.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
So we've got new families this year.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
We had our first official interview yesterday to start things up.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
This is going to be a good year.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
It really is the twenty fifth year of the Radiothon
and we will keep getting you more and more info.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
But West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 7 (02:18):
Com, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
It's the celebrities Goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
All right, let's start with the new King of Christmas,
and that is none other than Jason Kelsey. Because, as
it turns out, maybe this Christmas, a duet by Jason
and Fleetwood Max Stevie Nicks, has officially passed All I
Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey as the
number one.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Christmas song of the season.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Jason, on yesterday's episode of the New Heights podcast alongside
brother Travis, said, feels really good to take his rightful
place as Queen.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Jason, how does it feel to officially be the Queen
of Christmas?
Speaker 8 (03:02):
You know, I've fought my whole life to be the
Queen of Christmas and the fact that we're finally there's
just really special. I frege what the stat was. Somebody said,
I think all I want fore Christmas is used like
been the number one Christmas song.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Since nineteen ninety four. I don't know if it's.
Speaker 8 (03:16):
Since nineteen ninety four, but it's been like for like
twenty years, has been NonStop, like the number one Christmas
song or something like that. Yeah, of course, so you know,
I know we we caught it in early November. We'll
see if it holds up throughout the rest of Christmas.
We kind of caught it on the Christmas down slide.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
The Christmas down slide.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Jason jokes, wow, I mean really number one, to which
Travis said, slow down, man, nobody likes you.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
They're listening for Stevie.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
I'll be honest. I like Jason and Stevie Nicks. I
don't know hot take here. I think the song's terrible.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
It's a it's a rough lesson, not good. It's intense.
I'll say that. I'll say that.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Glenn Powell, the Twisters star, said no, no, no, no, no,
the report is not true. He is not going to
be replacing Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise. Headlines
started to hit yesterday that Tom reportedly wanted Glenn to
replace him as the lead for all potential future installments.
(04:18):
Powell immediately refuting the claim on the Pat McAfee show,
where they actually called to congratulate him.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
He said, the reason he's not going to do this.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
But my mom would never let me do that.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
He said, the stunts are so intense. He knows Tom
does most of them himself, laughed, adding this is a
death trap and my mother would literally never let me
do that.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I don't think he's a bad pick that for that
kind of role. At the same time, I can never
see Tom Cruise letting his hands off the reins of
the Mission Impossible franchise, Like I think he's gonna want
to do those movies until he's well into his seventies.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
And finally, Celine Dione back on stage. Jennifer Lowe Copez
as well, This is a big deal. Last night in
Saudi Arabia one of their huge fashion shows. It's the
Eli Sab Fashion Show Inriad. The entertainment for the forty
fifth year was absolutely phenomenal and this is one of
the first times Selene has returned to stage any full
(05:18):
blown performance like this following that stiff person syndrome. She
looks incredible. You can see she's definitely still dealing with
(05:39):
the stiff person syndrome. She's moving around a little bit,
but definitely not kind of the huge performance we've seen
in the past, but very very healthy.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
J Lo did awesome as well.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
In fact, she did a very cool like Gloria Gainer
cover that was awesome. So lots of videos from that
that I've got up with your scoop at West Michigan start.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
Up sometimes because I get a good feeling here.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Seven a fine points, Yeah, have a good morning to you.
It's Mack and Schmiddy look and to make your day
a little bit brighter right now, feeling good. Always here
to shed a little positivity out there, and that's what
was happening last night. Shedding some joy and trying to
bring positive change was what was happening at last night's
Project night Lights there at the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital
of course the second Wednesday of every month, but this
(06:26):
one looked a little bit different, and it was all
to honor a fallen tow truck driver that used to
come out to Project night Lights every single month. His
name was Keegan Spencer and sadly he lost his life
in November of last year. Who was when he was
helping someone on the side of the road near M
six and was hit by a driver who was speeding
(06:46):
and distracted. But it happened well. Wednesday's events part of
the Project night Lights. About a hundred tow trucks were
out there all driving around the hospital to honor Keegan
and to help bring awareness for his story as well.
So for the slow Down, move Over hashtag that you'll
see all over the place, it's all about Keegan and
(07:06):
getting people to move over and slow down when they
are around emergency vehicles of all kinds. Spencer's dad, Matt Spencer,
actually talking to wood TV eight last night saying, you know,
it's a problem and it's something that we really really
need to address here at Michigan.
Speaker 9 (07:19):
We have a big problem with the driving public today
and we are here to start raising awareness that move
Over Michigan is going to be out there and we're
going to be promoting the move slow down, moveover movement
for all roadside workers.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
You know, I had the chance to speak with some
people that knew Keegan, and they all just said. They
love that they're continuing to spread joy for these kids
by being a part of Project night Lights and having
awesome tributes like this while also trying to make a
difference out there.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
So pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
I've been watching that awareness campaign all summer. They're really good,
good people. Have you heard of giving Tree Books?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
It is a West.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Michigan couple that's come up with a pretty beautiful idea.
Shout out to Steve and Nancy their mission promoting kids
literacy by publishing high quality elementary level books and then
giving them for free to kids from under resourced communities
here in West Michigan. He didn't know the numbers pretty startling.
(08:18):
Over two thirds of low income families don't have kids
books in their homes. Steve and Nancy wanted to change that.
They write the books, they illustrate the books. One of
the coolest things. I think every book has a piece
on the inside cover that says this book belongs to
and you write your name, because so few kids have
access to this. And they've just published their second book,
(08:41):
Milo Finds His Forever Home. But they don't stop there.
They've been a big fundraiser for all sorts of different
experiences for families in West Michigan, and yesterday, Giving Tree
Books fundraised for one hundred Grand Rapids public students to
go to the Griffins matinee game. This is the big
eleven AM field trip game. One hundred kids from Campus
(09:06):
Elementary on their way to Vanandelerina, a lot of them
for their very first ever Griffin's game, which I just
thought was such.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
A cool thing to do. Double feeling good.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Yesterday's eight thousand plus attendance the second biggest crowd for
the matinee game in Griffin history, So.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Just such a cool, cool thing.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
If you want to learn more, I love these two
givingtree Books dot org and I can tell you my
kids love their books.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
They're really really good.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
And the kid's got to see a Griffin's win yesterday too,
which was pretty awesome. I did hear from some people
at the game that the roar of the crowd was
in a bit higher of an octave than you're used
to hearing over there.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I only want to go to the eleven AM game.
I love watching those kids get on the big screen.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
So cool, fairly good. Always share to light things up
a little bit and share some amazing things, especially when
they're happening right here in our community. We'll do it
again for you coming up at nine to twenty here
on Star.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
I No, We're all feeling and supporting Uncle Joey. This morning,
Dave Coolier opening up about a cancer diagnosis. The Full
House star appeared on Today yesterday morning, confirming he's been
diagnosed with stage three non Hodgkin.
Speaker 10 (10:24):
Lymphoma five weeks ago. I was diagnosed with stage three
non Hodgkins lymphoma. And in that time, I've had three surgeries,
I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair.
I kind of look like a little baby bird now.
But it has been a rollercoaster ride for sure. Yeah,
but there was still another hurdle. We had to find
(10:48):
out what the staging was. We got good news that
day once we got the results that you know, it
hadn't spread, and so at that point the curability rate
went up to ninety plus.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
So it's very treatable.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
That's right, aggressive but treatable. And Hollywood reacting, including one
of his very close friends, John Stamos posting an Instagram
with some really really cute throwback picks of the two, saying,
You've been my brother since day one, and I will
be right by your side through this entire journey.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
You know, you know that he is going to beat
this thing with laughter and give everything he can to
just get through.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
We had a great part of the story where he
had gotten the call and his wife Melissa, came home
and he said, you know, hey, I have cancer, and
she goes, this is not the time to crack jokes
like that. He's like, not a joke, But you know what,
We're going to get through it. Just days after Martha
Stewart slammed her own Netflix documentary as quote unquote lazy,
(11:46):
she admits another one might be in the works. She
was on with Jimmy Fallon, saying there's a lot left
to her life story.
Speaker 11 (11:52):
The documentary is fine, it's left out a lot, So
I'm going to go talk to them about maybe doing.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Oh really, yeah, there's a lot more in my life.
Speaker 11 (12:02):
I mean, you know, I've lived a long time and
I just thought, you know, maybe we should We've just
left out some stuff.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
So, uh did you? Oh? Really, juicy stuff. No, there's
some juicy stuff in here.
Speaker 11 (12:13):
I know, but don't say it now.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Oh I won't know.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Stuart had bashed the director for using unflattering camera angles,
admitting she really hated the final shots of the film,
but apparently it's ready for round two.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
You know any mugshots included time in your prison jumper.
I'm sure those didn't go over that well either.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
No.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
I want the I want the marriage stuff. That's what
everybody's waiting for. Finally, a really cool moment between Dwayne
the Rock Johnson and a fan that he got to
meet at Target. It was a woman with stage four
pancreatic cancer. The former WWE World Champion made sure to
take some time with her and it was caught on
(12:55):
tab in a really cool way.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
And this is why I look like you.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
She's been finishing chemotherapy, which you heard her say this
is why I look like you because she had lost
all of her hair and Dwayne just took an extra
few moments to pray with her, say stay strong, keep
fighting whatever you need.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Just know that I'm rooting you on and again. Fans
are just like Man Dwain's such.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
A good dude and blessed.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
I feel like beat around the Rock automatically makes you
feel stronger, just just through proximity.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Here's hoping all of you were celeb scoop at West
Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
You know, the holidays bring all sorts of added expenses.
That's why we try and get to Christmas Cash every
hour all day long, started at nine.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
But there's other ways to make some cash.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Many we're not allowed to win the Christmas Cash Show.
So I'm out here and I think I share in this,
like a lot of you, I'm pretty stressed with finances
for the next six weeks.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
There's just there's a lot.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Right between the gift giving food, if you're hosting family
and friends. And this is really the first year I've
been very very aware of like what else can I do?
And I think a lot of people have a holiday
side hustle, whether it's you know, being a door dash
deliverer or an uber driver, or if you're picking up
(14:11):
maybe some side work, part time work. And I realized
going through and putting my laundry away the other day,
I have a ton of formal dresses. It's just it's
like five ten years worth of galas, and I'm seeing
charitable fundraisers and just really nice stuff and I'm never.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Gonna wear these again?
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Why No, I'm not because do you go to monybody else?
Speaker 11 (14:37):
Know?
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Well?
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Well, and I'm excited too because shout out to one
of my best friends. She has lent me three dresses
for all of my holiday events, so I don't have anything.
But I was thinking, man, they're great dresses. I've worn
them once or twice. Maybe I can sell them. I've
never sold anything online, and I'm kind of weirded out
about it because I hear only the horror stories, right,
(15:00):
and I'm not really sure how to do it because
I don't want people knowing where I live. Okay, because
I was like, this is great, we had a couple
of comments. Cindy had brought up Mercury. I've heard good
things about that app. But I figured the easiest way
and maybe a way that like somebody could come look
at the dress blab blah, would be Facebook Marketplace.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Right.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
I have never dipped my toe into Facebook Marketplace.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
I feel like all I see when I go on
there is like, oh b oh, I was the first one.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Take a number.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
People are insane. They really are.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
Very especially if you put something that says free or
if it's like a low cost, you will get people
coming out of the woodwork who are out for blood.
They think the fact that you put it up for
sale means that they're entitled to it because they saw
it with their own two eyeballs.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
And there's all of of these code words right like PM
oh BO. I don't know what any of that is.
But all I know is that like I'm gonna ask
for like thirty or forty bucks for these dresses, Like yeah,
but how because I don't know if I need to
like meet you in a sketchy parking lot an abandoned warehouse,
but I don't want. I don't people to know where
(16:11):
I live, and usually they like invite you over to
their house to check the stuff out.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
See that's the part that it is a little bit
of a sketchy thing. I have had no trouble with
people coming to our house to get stuff at this point.
But I always try and tell my wife, you know, don't,
let's do it at a time where we're both home,
so that you know, just just that there's an extra
person in the house for it. And also said I
could be there for the moral support of the haggling
that I know is about to come for my wife too,
because I don't care how inexpensive you put.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Something up for.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
We put a lot of our like old baby stuff
up at different times, and it'll be a rocker forty
bucks and the person will get there and they'll be like, yeah,
forty dollars. I only brought twenty eight dollars and seventy
four cents with me. Will you take that? Will you
take that? The answer is no, you did not just
show up at my house with twenty eight dollars and
seventy three cents.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
It's forty dollars. This is not hard.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Then I don't want him going on there like, hey,
who listens to Christmas music on star Win O five
point seven sheep Skate Schmidt. He lives at blah blah
blah blah blah, Rockford, Michigan.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Dresses weren't even that nice.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
I'm so, if you've got like good side hustle advice,
maybe it's not close.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Maybe I'm selling No, I'm not gonna say that. Think
I'm selling something else.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
No, no, no, But like if you've ever done this
or you have a really great idea that's given you
just a little bit of extra holiday cash.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Yeah, love the advice, moodies, music, and all the gossip
in one place.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Well, I had this story earlier this week.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Detroit Lions player James Houston went viral after one play.
Looked like he may have soiled himself because there's probably
kidskirtin on the boss right girl, and he's not alone.
Jason Kelsey has had a similar situation. The retired Eagles
star replayed his story during the new episode of the
(18:00):
New Heights podcast.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
We gotta be really careful a fart, It's not always
a fart.
Speaker 8 (18:06):
I have done this, dude. I did this before a
game once and I felt, you know, like when you
when you when you know that there's a possibility something
just came up, but you're not certain.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
And you gotta get off the field.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
I turned and I'm not going to announce name's I
turned to my buddy, my old mine friend, and I
was like, hey, can you check me because I think
I mighty? And he checks me. He says, you're good.
I go out for warm ups, do the whole warm ups.
Lane comes up to me after warmups. He's like, hey,
you got sh all up and down your pits right now?
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
So Jason given his uh brother James some love, saying,
hey man, it's a it's a tough sport and there's
a lot of exertion.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You know what, no excuses.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Played like a champion, they did say, you and I
both know he didn't sit on no gatorade. A full
house star Dave Coolier opening up about his current health
journey as he is now battling stage three on Hodgkin lymphoma.
He made the announcement on The Today Show yesterday with
some good news.
Speaker 10 (19:05):
Five weeks ago, I was diagnosed with stage three non
Hodgkin's lymphoma. And in that time I've had three surgeries,
I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair.
I kind of look like a little baby bird now.
But it has been a rollercoaster ride for sure. Yeah,
but there was still another hurdle. We had to find
(19:27):
out what the staging was. We got good news that
day once we got the results that you know, it
hadn't spread, and so at that point the curability rate
went up to ninety plus percent.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
So it's very treatable, which is obviously great news, but
he's using this as awareness as well. Talking to People magazine,
he said he started clocking swelling in his lymph nodes
after an upper respiratory infection, and then noticed some issues
in certain areas where it just didn't seem right, and
he kept bugging doctors until they buy off seed.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Got it? Advocate for yourself, ma'am.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Finally, Oh boy.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Mark Zuckerberg has teamed up with his longtime friend artist
Tea Paine to redo the two thousand and two hit
song get Low. This was apparently an anniversary gift for
Zuck's wife, Priscilla Chan. He dropped the news yesterday on Instagram, saying,
back in two thousand and two, that was the song
(20:24):
playing when him and Priscilla first met at a college party.
He says every year they listen to it on their
dating anniversary, and he figured he'd come up with his
own version of this lyrical masterpiece.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
You're fine, hoping you can suck.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
It to me baby one more time?
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Get can logan?
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Can can.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
My favorite part?
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Right here?
Speaker 3 (20:57):
The walls? Yeah happened. This is for real.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
If you'd like the entire three and a half minute
song I would I got it up West Michigan Star
dot Com.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Okay, So I feel like we just got the answer
to what do you buy for your wife when you
can literally buy her anything in the world, And the
answer is a priceless song with Tea Pain.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
I appreciate Priscilla's comment, I can't get quite as low anymore,
but I've never been more in love.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
Right there with you, Priscilla, right there with you. Love
that five point seven. It's a little slice to have
them with a whole lot to eat and drink. Talking
about the Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer and Food Festival
back again one week from today.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah, Devas Place is gonna smell so delicious. We've got
your tickets a bonus chance right now with our Christmas quiz.
Name something you usually do the day after Christmas?
Speaker 2 (21:49):
You know what? I want The answer to be nothing.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
I want to do nothing the day after Christmas except
for maybe eat way too much food for the second
day in a row.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
So this will be our third year ordering Taco Bell
because we've all maybe imvibed a little too much on
Christmas Day, my sister in laws, my brothers. Yeah, it's
a pretty steep order six, one six, four eight, one
oh five seven. Give us a call, Color seven, name
something you usually do the day after Christmas, and we'll
(22:18):
send you to the seventeenth AMI Grand Rapids International Line
Beer and Food Festival.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Good morning Star, who's this?
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Okay Brett?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Hey, Brett's where you come from this morning?
Speaker 11 (22:27):
Sir?
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I'll do Ali Brett.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
I'm gonna ask you this question, and it's not actually
what you do the day after Christmas, but more show
what you think. The average one hundred adults that were
asked when, uh, what are you going to be doing
the day after Christmas?
Speaker 3 (22:45):
My guest is shopping?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Even though it sounds miserable, Why.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Specifically would you be going shopping the day after Christmash.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Returns five if you didn't get.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
I don't want people just like to shop.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
There we go, brat.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
That's that's what I knew you were getting at returning
gifts top answers, sir, congratulation, yep.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
We had to walk in a little bit when we
got you there.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
It was return gifts followed by eating, of course, playing
with gifts. And number five was what I said, let's
do nothing the day after Christmas? I think that's a
tradition we should all start, for sure. But congratulations, BRTT,
you're going to the Grand Rapids International Wind Beer and
Food Festival.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Awesome.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Yeah, it's gonna be a great time, starting next Thursday
over there at Vos Place. You can win tickets right
now too, over West Michigan Star dot com. But we'll
hook you up the same time tomorrow eight fifteen.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Here on Star.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Showing a five point seven to twelve days of Christmas.
I notice in there they did not include getting at
least two windshield wipers, because man, I could really use
those this morning. Schmitty, Oh what is it that you
just waited way too long to replace or fix? Because
I was in my vehicle last night, headed downtown with
my wife and it started to rain a little bit,
(23:59):
just for a few minutes, and she goes, holy cow,
your wipers are worse than mine.
Speaker 11 (24:04):
Right now.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
She's like, it's just moving the water on the you know,
on the windshield. It's not making it any clearer. Basically,
not good, not safety driving. Thankfully, it wasn't driving that hard.
She's like, you really got to take care of that.
And personally, I blame mother nature because October was just
so sunny. It was one of the sunniest Octobers we
ever had here in West Michigan, and I kept saying
(24:26):
to myself the last time that it did rate, I'm like, dude,
you got to you got to replace these definitely. I
even went in and got an oil change, and they
always try and hustle you and sell you have windshield
wipers for more money when you're at the oil change place,
and I was like, no, I'll definitely stop and get
new windshield wipers on my own and save.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
A couple dollars. Flash forward to this morning, Schmidty.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
I knew it was raining obviously right away when I
woke up, so as I'm backing out of the garage,
I turned the wipers on, but the windshield was dry,
and so it literally ripped the rubber right off my
passenger side windshield wipers.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
So it's rain in on the way in this morning.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
I have got like the shrieking sounds of death, like
nails on a chalkboard going against my windshield, and the
only one whiper, which was at least thankfully on the
driver's side, is literally just moving water back and forth
in front of me.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
I was not a safe person.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
You know, I was super excited to hear this.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Everybody stuck on the road with you, that was like,
that was the guy weaving in and out of lanes
looking like a death track.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
No, I just happened to have my window down a
little bit. You can see pretty clearly if you stick
your head out a little bit, it's not so bad. Yeah,
don't be procrastinating, especially not when your safety is involved.
What is the thing you left for way too long?
Hit us up Facebook and Instagram at West Michigan.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Star sometime because I get a good feeling.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
Let's do it, trying to make this dreary little morning
uh bit brighter for you right now? Feeling good on
Starving five point seven?
Speaker 2 (25:50):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
All right?
Speaker 3 (25:51):
So we've got Lions fans and I get it.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
The Jared Goff chance alive and well, but have you
ever done it kite surfing on the Great Lakes? Just
ask Ben Bramer. Not only is he a diehard Lions fan,
but also a fifth grade teacher at Zealand Public Schools
and dondie Jared Goff jersey over his wetsuit while taken to.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
The Great Lakes with this video.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
With hundreds of likes on his Facebook already and comments
like brave fan, you are crazy, but for the best
reason and go lions.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Hope this goes viral. I don't know, Ben might be
the coolest teacher we know today.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
That is pretty sweet and honestly points for creativity. You know,
I didn't see the Jared Goff comments coming sky high
on a kite. All right, This is just kind of cool.
If you're a fan of the Rolling Stones, they're bassist
for more than thirty years, is going to be coming
to perform for free this Saturday.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
This is really cool.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
Rolling Stone's base is Darryl Jones gonna be taking part
in a weekend concert at Hope College on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Now.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
The legendary bass player going to join the school's band
ensemble for an evening of jazz a tribute to Duke Ellington.
The performance that started seven there at Hope's concert hall.
This is really cool. I mean Jones. He's been with
The Stone since nineteen ninety three, but he is also
recorded with the likes of Miles Davis. He was part
of Sting's first band after he left the Police. He's
(27:28):
worked with bb King, Eric Clapton, Patty LaBelle Madonna and
Neil Young. The guy is a straight up legend on
the base and it's free if you want to go
check it out. It's gonna be three Ensemble set to
perform again an evening of jazz, a tribute to Duke
Kellington going down at Hope College at seven pm.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Totally free for the public to go and enjoy it too.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, I'm going to post that up on our Facebook
at West Michigan Star.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Pretty Awesome.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Feeling Good comes at you a couple times a day
to tell you about great things going on out there.
And speaking of great things going on out there, next week, schmitty,
