Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mack and Schmidty in the morning on West Michigan's Christmas station,
Star one five point seven. Good morning, Schmidty, Good morning,
Welcome into your Monday. And you know what, it hurts
a little bit this morning because it's the first time
in three plus months that we have had to endure
Alliance loss on a Sunday, on a Thursday, on a Monday.
(00:23):
It makes no difference. It's been three months in a
day since the last time your Detroit Lions last game
rough until.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yesterday not look good.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Well, you know what, Buffalo's really good and in Detroit, Wow,
Detroit's playing with a whole new defense and man, three
more of their defensive starters went down. Possibly it looks
like for the year for all three of them, there
are less guys on that defense that started this year
than are playing right now. Like it's insane.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
I'm glad you brought this up because I've got a
little bit of a bone to pick here. I don't
know if I've ever seen a fan base that is
either so happy or the second you lose tears every
single person apart on your team who's bad. I saw
the worst things last night, Gamble Saint Brown, I was
(01:10):
like you guys, it was a loss, like you're still
twelve and two.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I was so disappointed in the Lion's fan base last night.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Did we forget? I really was what it means to
be a lion, what it means to be a lion,
being able to survive having your heart ripped out of
your chest on on the weekly.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
And I don't know if you guys are ready yet.
People were losing their ever eleven minds.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, it was a star packed birthday party for CBS
Morning anchor Gail King, all things to her bff Oprah,
throwing her quite the surprise, to the point where Gail said,
you nearly gave me a heart attack. The video was
shared over the weekend, Oprah saying my bestie of fifty
years is turning. So we gathered everyone that loved her
(02:03):
to celebrate, and you could tell Gail had no clue.
I mean, check out this guest list. Katie Perry, Stephen Colbert,
Angela Bassett, Jeff Bezos, brookshields Andy Cohen. And that is
just the tip of this guest list. It was unbelievable,
(02:24):
went on through the night. Now she officially turns seventy
on December twenty eighth and said, normally I actually hate
this kind of stuff. I would much rather just sit
home reading a picture book. But no, here we are
and it was a really good time. Also going viral
Stephen Colbert's dance moves.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
If you didn't see those on TikTok over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Would you describe them as dad like a.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
White man underbite?
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I think is the best way to us see he
was a really proud papa. Next up a lot of
the talking about Scott Disseck's I guess Birthday slash Christmas
gift to his fifteen year old son Mason, sharing in
his Insta stories on Saturday a brand new Mercedes Ben's
(03:16):
g Wagon where kid, they can't even technically drive yet.
He shared a lineup of cars in the driveway, writing
happy birthday, big boy. Felt like it was only fair
for you to get your first g Wagon.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Even if it's a mini g Wagon, it's still a wagon.
Love you son. Let the good times roll.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
No, it's fine because until then just one of their
many drivers can drive that fifteen year old around video.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I thought they were.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Done doing this because, like the Kardashians have been broken
into so many times, they're like really careful about showing
off their wealth.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
But rear lady, did you not hear him? It's a
mini g wagon relaxed.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Finally, big surprise last night, Apple TV releasing a surprise
holiday edition of.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Carpool Care Karaoke.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
This series it started with creator James Cordon kind of
handing the steering wheel if you will. To Zane Low,
this was really incredible. They had chapel Rone, Lady Gaga,
and doual Leapa part of this lineup.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Can come.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
It's unreal, Lo said, hands down the most fun I
have ever had in a car. Grateful to James for
trusting me behind the wheel of a very expensive car
with three of music's most exciting artists. By the way,
he went all over the world, La Tokyo and weirdly enough, Springfield, Missouri,
which I think is where chapel Rone is from, so
(04:50):
she's back home. They did a big mashup of their
current songs as well as their holiday songs, and a
lot of people are talking about the Apple Ron du
alipa collaboration it's really really good.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Well, you're given the choice Schmitty Chapel Gaga or I'm
gonna go Gaga. You're gonna go Gaga.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Although I will say if you misseddu Alipa's CBS special
last night, it was absolutely phenomenal and Elton John made
a surprise cameo.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Really good stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
There's some of that in our scoop to West Michigan
Star dot Com.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Sometimes does I get a good feeling?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, well here we are nine sleep still Christmas. If
that doesn't have you feeling good, well we can add
to the festive feelings. All right, feeling good on starting
a five point seven. It's Mackett Smitty with you. And
this was just really cool to see as a Warren
family had their lives completely changed by none other than
the original American idol Kelly Clarkson. Kelly Clarkson Show last
(05:48):
week a surprising a Michigan family with a comhletely redesign home.
I mean this absolutely flipped their living situation upside down.
They had actually lost two homes in the past due
to home insecurity, and now they have this amazing space
to call their own. Andrea Turner and her husband veteran
(06:10):
Will Turner, expressing their gratitude for this new space, talking
about all the choid it's going to bring to their
two young girls and be that place for them to
call home forever. And she was talking to w x
y Z there in Detroit, just sharing how meaningful this is.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
Three they went totally out on Maya and Bella's room
and they're never coming down from their room. It's a
sense of relief because you know, as a mom, you
always worry about how your.
Speaker 7 (06:41):
Kids feel, or if they're hot, if they're cold, if
they're hungry. You know, as mothers, we always want to
shield our children from things that can make them uncomfortable,
you know, And now they come home and they can
finally be kids.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
That's right, they can finally be kids. And on top
of that's really cool touching things that they did, including
a replacement of the service medals for Will Turner, the
gild girl's dad, a new dining room table for some
family meals, not to mention five thousand bucks, in addition
to some Christmas presents, all hoping that this transformation helps
the new family with a fresh start.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Well, we talk living in West Michigan about how giving
we all are. That was on display over the weekend.
I said, you might not find something more Christmasy than this.
The Grand Rapids community laying thousands of reaths to honor veterans.
This is a really incredible movement. Every year, National Wreaths
Across America Day was on Saturday, and the Michigan Veterans'
(07:40):
Home holding a very special ceremony thirty two hundred reads.
Despite the fact that, remember on Saturday, it was frigid
outside and that did not stop hundreds of people showing
up to show their respect. Ryan engel Is, the director
of Development and Strategic in a for the MV eight said,
(08:02):
it's just a totally humbling experience to what it's.
Speaker 8 (08:05):
Really humbling to be part of this community here in
West Michigan in the way that they show up and
show out to honor those men and women who have
worn in the uniform. And here we are on this
freezing cold day and literally hundreds of people are out
here to honor those that have sacrificed for us.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
If you find yourself driving by the Michigan Veterans Home,
it is right there on Monroe. I've got to tell
you it is such a moving site to see all
of these wreaths and if you're listening right now, going,
I would love to be a part of that. You
can even sponsor a wreath for one of our amazing
veterans wreaths across America dot org. It is a super
cool day and the pictures are unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah right. I always want to lift you up with
Feeling Good. We'll do it coming up again this morning
at nine twenty.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
Feeling Good powered by Overhead Door company of Grand Refords,
reminding you to open your day positively with Star one
oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Well, this is a very odd story that is definitely
still developing after and comedian Jamie Fox allegedly involved in
a fight in the dining room of Mister Chow Friday night.
It's a pretty high m Beverly Hills restaurant. Law enforcement
says police were called around ten pm for reports of
a fight inside. Details are still coming out, but police
(09:28):
sources say Jamie was involved in the alleged altercation, but
he was gone by the time police arrived. And assault
report was taken and Jamie's name is listed as a
party involved in whatever went down. We did get an
update Saturday afternoon. A witness said that customers at another
table were being rude and vulgar to Jamie. He asked
(09:49):
them to stop since his family was present, and that's
when someone at the other table allegedly threw a glass
that hit him in the face. A spokesperson for Jamie
said he was out for his birthday dinner. The glass
smashed him in the mouth and he did end up
having to get stitches and is recovering. It sounds like
(10:10):
Jamie broke his silence about this Saturday night. On his
Instagram Stories, he shared the devil is busy, but I'm
too blessed to be stressed, writing in a caption, can't
win here. Thank it everybody that praise and checks on me.
When your light's shining bright. They try to bring you darkness,
but they don't know that you're built for it. The
lights have been shining bright, and a huge thank you
(10:30):
to everyone that has watched and been inspired by his
Netflix series.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Never missed an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah, but it sounds pretty nasty, and his rep did
say that the investigation is.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Going to continue.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
I hope there's video or something, because this sounds insane.
Someone through a glass, yeah, glass at him and cut
his face.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I'd be curious those higher end restaurants. I'm not sure
if there would be a lot of times they try
to keep people's phones out because of the high end clientele.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
But we'll see interesting move.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Sean Diddy Combs has dropped his appeal to be released
on bail. Court documents were filed on Friday, which means
the hip hop mogul will remain behind bars for quite
a few months. Of course, this does not look good
(11:21):
for him. He is facing up to, if not more than,
fifteen years in prison right now, given all of the
allegations that he faces, but he will be staying in
that Metro Detention center.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
All the allegations he faces as of right now only
equal up to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Well, for what's been officially, I.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Was going to say that this guy's never going to
see the light of day again.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
He's never going to see the light of day again.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Finally, this is kind of surprising, but people dig the legends.
Rolling Stones have officially eclipsed Taylor Swift's wrecord their Hackney
Diamonds tour hit a record breaking single.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Night revenue amount.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Get this, just over thirteen million US dollars in one
night for ticket sales. McJagger, Keith Richards and the rest
of the crew banked the most per night for a concert,
proving people are still down for the Ogs.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
This is interesting.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Tickets for their eighteen shows sold out in record time,
and even though Taylor is still breaking records, first ever
to earn over a billion dollars for a tour, she
beat out Elton John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. It
will be interesting to see how this one goes given
that huge popularity for just one night of tickets.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I mean, this is incredible. In the Rolling Stones, Yeah,
some of the greatest to ever do it. That being said,
this just makes me think about how insane it's going
to be for tickets to see Taylor towards the end
of her career. You talk about Elton John, you talk
about Rolling Stones. They've been doing their stuff for sixty
years a piece. Taylor's still working on what twenty I.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Think you either go big or she's doing the casino circuits.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Blah.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Blah blah, bah bah. I don't know a lot changes.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
By the way, Taylor is sticking around in Kansas City
for the holidays. I'll have more about that in your
next scoop. You can get all the details at West Michigan.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Start Off point seven, West Michigans Christmas Days you go
morning to you, it's macka Schmidy Okay.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
So I don't know how everybody else is feeling. I
know we talked a little bit this morning about, yeah,
are you getting the shopping done, gearing up because we
are like a week and a half out from Christmas,
And guess it can be magical and wonderful and it
is truly a blessing. Getting to spend time with family
and friends, and all of that combined can be some
(13:51):
of the most stressful times of the entire year, without doubt,
and I am feeling that in inredibly much so, like
I am, you know, sick, I'm nervous. I'm not doing
enough with the kids. We've got Spirit Week, You've got
teacher gifts to buy for, You've got parties you volunteered for.
(14:14):
And I shared this to my Instagram stories over the weekend.
I was stunned at the reaction that I got, I mean,
my DMS blew up from people going, wow, thank you.
I needed to read this. Oh my gosh, I really
appreciate this was a good reset and it was just
something that I saw that simply said, you do not
(14:35):
need to finish the year strong. You could meander through
this month. You could savor the slowdown. You could nourish
yourself with stillness, rest and pause if you wanted, you
could simply end the year gently instead.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
You're allowed to do that. Your your mom guilt on
the inside of your body and your bone schmitty. Will
you allow you to do?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
You have to because otherwise you're done for. You are
done for. You are going to be sitting there Christmas
morning watching everything that culminates and all that you've done,
all that you've worked for, all that you've tried to
make happen, and you are going.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
To be destroyed.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
You're barely going to have your eyes open, and you're
going to be like I worked so hard for this
and now my body is shutting down. Like you need
to take the break as well. And I saw this
amazing post. I follow Busy Toddler on Instagram, which is
incredible amazing post that was like, the biggest thing you
can do this holiday season is adjust your expectations. Every
single year is not going to be the same. If
(15:38):
you've got really great Christmas traditions, guess what, you're going
to get sick. Your kids are going to get sick,
and maybe that tradition isn't going to happen. They were like,
so make it not. This happens every year. Make it fun.
Things happen when they can every year.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
And I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I was just talking with so many people over the
weekend of seven conversations back and forth line and it
made me feel really good that it's like, ooh, you
can slow down, Like you can make get your kids
through the last week of school. And maybe it's as
simple as just like sleeping in altogether, putting on a
Christmas movie in the morning instead of at night.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
But like we can pump the.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Breaks because it is just too much sometimes and that's
okay to say.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
One of the things that I feel like is the
hardest to get into my kid's head is a parent
is how we respond when things don't go our way.
How sometimes that the hardest things are there's adults that
don't know how to do. But that's that's the prime
thing is during the holidays, I know I'm not my best,
you know what I mean when things don't go your way,
or in the holidays, when you're planning for other people
(16:44):
and you're trying to make these magical moments for everybody
and then things don't go your way? How do you
respond in that moment because a lot of times, I mean,
I'll just own it. I respond with frustration and tiredness,
an annoyance, and it's like, that's not what this is about,
and it's not what any what he wants to remember.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
From the holl So what do you do? What do
you do for yourself to keep that from happening?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
For myself? Oh, I drink.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Because that's that's another big part of this. I know that,
like a lot of people in their sobriety, this is
an exceptionally challenging time. So I found some really helpful tips.
A big one is prioritizing self care. And I know,
listening to me say that sounds so cliche, especially to
my fellow moms, because they're.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Like, ah, when, but like that can mean anything.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
From like a bath, really doing like the candle situation
getting your music going, which I have not done in
six and a half years, to like finding an hour
to read your book, or maybe setting an earlier bedtime
for the kids, so like you and your spouse get
some time together, managing those expectations, setting boundaries with friends
and family, practicing gratitude. I have tried to do that
(17:51):
a wake up every morning and think of at least
one thing I'm really thankful and excited about happening for
the day. And I really love this volunteer hearing. It
is scientifically proven to increase your mood, your patience, and
your feeling of gratitude to volunteer your time.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Plus you get to hold it over everyone else too
when they find out that you volunteered, they're so jealous
and feel bad about themselves as all.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
All right, well about the list up at West Michigan
Star dot com. Because again, if you're like me and
you're kind of feeling a bit of that struggle with
a few days until Christmas and you're doing a fabulous job,
I found this to be really helpful. And if anything,
just read through that Instagram like four times and then
head out into your workday, because that actually helped me
a lot too, So check it out West Michigan Star
dot com. I posted it on our Facebook as well.
(18:35):
We're gonna make it, We're gonna do it, and it's
going to be magical and fun.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Whether you've got the flu or not.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
At Schmidt and the met make sure you're following it
along as well. Here are the facts. But human torch
was denied a banklover. All right, sleese, are not the
stories that are going to make it to the top
of CNN, but maybe the bottom of TMZ. About that.
This week's headline, Schmidty, what do you got for us?
With our very.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
First All right, there's kind of a good and bad
side of this. New research shows responding with sarcasm not
just showcasing your wit, but indicates a healthy and sharp mind. However,
experts warn context is crucial. While sarcasm can be a
sign of quick thinking, it can also seriously backfire in
(19:20):
super sensitive situations.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Oh really, schmidtyd by newlyweds tracked down wedding crashers. Milwaukee
couple track down wedding crashers who took pictures in their
photo booth during their October ceremony. Danny and Daisy I
discovered two women in their photos and said they're not
even mad, but decided to track them down on TikTok.
I can only hope to send them a bill for
(19:42):
hitting up the buffet and maybe a link to their
registry at bye.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Mysterious googly eyes have gone viral after appearing on public
art in Oregon. While experts and city officials say looks funny,
don't do it because whatever adhesive you u used is
now literally peeling paint off of these artworks.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I'm sorry, but somebody just bought a banana tape to
a wall for over six million dollars. Personally, you're making
these priceless Hedbite Chimni student allegedly uses dead bugs and
other disgusting items to get free hotel stays. Twenty one
year old Chinese student brought dead bugs and other very
gross things into hotel rooms and then complained in order
(20:27):
to get free comps. Over the span of ten months,
this guy got sixty three hotels to fall for Itch Mitty.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I judge it, but we're all on a budget. Adbite,
a New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Man studied for a year to win the Spanish World
Scrabble title. He doesn't speak Spanish.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
This has got to feeling.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
I don't know if he's got like one of those
crazy photographic memories, but yeah, he just went. This is
his fifth language world title. This dude speaks English.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Bring them Game Night for sure, all right, schmitty. Finally,
Florida man decorates yard with giant leg lamp replica. JP
Mitchellik decorated his yard with the twenty foot replica of
the famous leg lamp from a Christmas tree or from
a Christmas story, Schmitty. And honestly, I'm just so jealous
(21:19):
that he got to live this scene in real life.
Man tyr neighborhood was turned on.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Oh you should see what it looks like from out here.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Honestly, there's nothing better than a major award, so true.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
That's this week's go ahead and ship the best ones
our way. When you see him out there at West
Michigan Star.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Unpres these music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
It's the celebrities scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Well, as Eddie Swifty would know.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Taylor having a pretty big birthday back on Friday, turning
thirty five, and in the past we've seen her go
pretty hard with some big celeb blowout party and major cities.
This year's sources say very low key, just her and
Travis in Kansas City, but apparently lavish gift upon lavish gift.
(22:12):
He got her a ton of stuff to make up
for the fact that they really couldn't do something huge
over the weekend. He of course had an away game yesterday,
and we'll also be playing on Christmas Day, although he
will be making sure that celebrations are all set. Friends
say that the two are going to be spending the
holidays in Kansas City, with some potential family members joining
(22:32):
as well as. For Taylor, a big part of her
birthday weekend included something really really cool, a stop at
Children's Hospital in Kansas City, where she signed autographs and
surprised patients, one girl even getting pretty brave to bring
up some of Taylor's songs, discussing who they might be about,
(22:53):
before they agreed that Travis is definitely the best.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Yes, absolute guess on that one.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
It was really cool.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
The staff said that she was just over the moonkind
and everybody had a really really lovely time.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
She spent like the entire day there was really.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Cool, all right, get to the nitty gritty schmitty the
whole families that the Kelsey and the Swift clans came
together for Thanksgiving. Now we're spending Christmas of course together too.
Is this the cliche engagement season coming our way?
Speaker 2 (23:25):
No? No, I don't see him doing it over Christmas.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
No, I just don't like Coty he's forty.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
All right, A lot of people talking about this over
the weekend. A big DJ doing a concert series of
popular Disney Channel hits had a concert in Boston Friday
night where one of those DJs decided to combine his
track with pictures of Luigi Mangioni. If the name doesn't
(23:54):
sound familiar to you, that is the alleged United Healthcare
CEO shooter. This was wild, and listen to the audience response.
So it's a huge flat screen behind this DJ where
all of a sudden he's playing one of the songs
from Hannah Montana and then starts to put these pictures up.
(24:22):
I mean, the crowd went wild, and naturally online it's
very split, with a lot of people saying this is gross.
The guy still potentially killed someone, We shouldn't be giving
him this much support. But if you look at that crowd, Wow, they.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Loved it gross. I mean it's very.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Weird, especially being a Disney thing, Like I'm that's that's
an odd Taking a Hannah Montana song and doing that
just feels weird to me anyway, especially given like who
could have been in the audience.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
But the video is wild to watch.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
West Michigan Star dot com Ariana Grande having a wonderful
time with her newfound Wicked fame and says, of course
she is planning to do even more musical theater she
adors at which means don't plan any tours anytime soon.
There were rumors flying the last couple of weeks that
the singer songwriter was planning a tour next year. Fans
(25:19):
were apparently already checking like some Ticketmaster listings, not the
case for Public Records even came out and said there
are absolutely no plans for a tour next year. Ariana
remains deeply appreciative of her fans and their continued love,
support and excitement, but don't expect that any time soon.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I think it'll be interesting to see because she's talked
about wanting to be more focused on her acting career,
whether or not. You see her act in the movie
where she is not singing.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, because she has made it very clear that she
likes musical theater.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
If that's bringing that to the screen, I don't know.
I don't even know if we get a new album
from her anytime soon.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
I'm a little same all of yours the love Scoop
at West Michigan Star dot com selling.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
A fine point seven Good morning to you. It's Mack
and SCHITTI let's make a little better right now. It's
your Christmas quiz and your shan to get out and
go do a little skiing or snowboard this season.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Yeah, Shanny Creek Resort is a fabulous place to do that.
We'll keey up with some lift tickets right now. Today's
number one answer. Besides your tree, all right, besides your tree,
name something you decorate for the holidays.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Signs my tree, something I decorate for the holidays. You
know my car? Uh? Somebody did just get me some
antlers for my side, Mirreks.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
I was gonna say, if you're star War five point
seven our minivans, we go all out. If you all
read that, Santa Para six one six four five eight
one oh five seven, caller seven, besides your tree, names
something that you decorate for the holidays? You could be
headed to Shanny Creek with Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Good morning, Star. Who's This's Tim? Tim? Where you calling
from today?
Speaker 2 (26:54):
I am calling from Holland this morning.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
All right, Tim, let's see if we can get you
these asses for Shanny Creek. You just got to tell me, Tim.
When one hundred adults were asked, besides the tree, what
is something people decorate each Christmas? What do you think?
Their top answer was.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Tim, I'll tell you after my wife's shopping scree.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
Our front yard.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Is dec What do we got here? We got inflatables, you.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Bet, We've got the penguins out there.
Speaker 8 (27:21):
We have Santa Claus, we have Frosty the Snowman.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
I lift them all day long.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Tim, You guys are doing it right, But sadly, the
house is the number two most common answer. I'm sorry,
my friend.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Awesome A great dight you too?
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Hi?
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Star?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Who's this Nick? I just had Tim on here and
one hundred adults were asked, besides the tree, what is
something you decorate every Christmas? And he gave the answer
I was thinking of too, which was your house, you
decorate your house. But that was actually the number two
most common answer. So what do you think this is? Nick?
Speaker 6 (27:53):
I think it's the cookies.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Do you think it's cookies? What's the best Christmas cookie? See,
that's so incorrect, it's unbelievable. The answer was snickerdoodle all along?
Sorry Nick, However, you did give me the top answer,
so I guess that works too. You're going skiing, frek,
you got yourself some sandy Creek passes? Heck yeah, awesome,
(28:16):
Heck guess get up north to go have some fun.
All right?
Speaker 5 (28:19):
Oh, we'll do I love it.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
We'll do it again tomorrow and on Friday. Somebody's also
going to be scoring a hotel stay too, So take
your chance the Christmas quiz again tomorrow eight fifteen. Here on,
stop showing up fine point seven. Good morning to you,
and hope you're having a very holly and shoty holiday
season so far. And I gotta know when it comes
to Christmas tree schmiddy, do you feel like you're more
(28:42):
of a coordinated if you will, your tree has some
symmetry to it.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Are you Instagram or not?
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Or is it just pure k chaos? Yours is chaos absolutely.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I've got a six year old three year old.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
That surprises me, though. I just figured you would take
control of that thing and it would bother you a
little bit if things didn't.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
I gave up that about five years ago. Yeah, fair enough.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Well, I always thought I was a chaos person too,
and I know that doesn't surprise you at all. But man,
I did something over the weekend that blew my wife away,
and honestly, it was so out of character for me,
but I couldn't stand it any longer. We have lights
that go around our tree, and then we have ribbon
that goes around our tree, and then all of the
decorations are just placed on there, Willy Nelly. Since we
(29:25):
have put this thing up, man, it was driving me
absolutely insane, the lack of symmetry between our lights and
the ribbon, like they were just going crisscrossing each other.
It was like two blind people put them on.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
At this end, I don't think I could do ribbon
on my tree.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
For that reason, Schmidty, I took it upon myself to
undo all of the lights, all of the ribbon, and
took down anything that got in my way. I redid
our quire Christmas tree. This weekend, just because it was
driving me so insane to look at it with it
just being off kilter like that I have. I don't
know if something's happened to me in my old age
(30:00):
or something. This would be something that would never even
cross my mind for the first thirty years of my life. Easily.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
I'm just impressed, like you must have your stuff all
set to go, because I sure as heck don't have
time to take my Christmas tree apart.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
And on December sixteenth.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I literally woke up at seven thirty in the morning yesterday,
walked out port a cup of coffee, stared at the thing,
and go, this is coming down this.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Here's my question to you guys. My husband bought Bubbler
lights for our tree. Oh how lame is that be?
Will our house catch on fire soon? In before December
twenty fifth to find that answer.
Speaker 6 (30:41):
Down?
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Because I get a good well we can. I'll use
a little extra push on a Monday, Let's make it happen.
Feeling good right now? On Star? What's going on?
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Middy?
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Well, I gotta tell you, I may be a Chicago
Bears fan, but I have always wanted to experience these
guys live and yesterday, if you were lucky enough to
be at Ford Field, our Detroit lines did end up
losing to the Buffalo Bills, but ahead of time, the
Honolulu Boom drumline performing outside of Ford Field to surprised fans.
(31:10):
This is what it's all about. They are so incredibly gifted.
They did a huge parade through some of the tailgating areas,
(31:32):
and the video has racked up tons of views, one
person writing, I remember when these were just kids sitting
on a corner playing on buckets.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
They were awesome even then.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
It really made even though it was a loss yesterday,
an awesome part of the game. And if you want
to see the video, I'll post it up on our
Insta stories at West Michigan Star. Because if the drums
aren't cool enough, the fit they had on yesterday was
pretty sweet, all.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Right, Spinney, This is one for everybody who is so
sick and tired of the darkness, all right, because I
do just want to offer up a little bit of
light for you and just let you know that as
of yesterday, sunset times will continue to get later.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yep, Winter Solstice in just a few days.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
I'm so happy about this, Smitty Now I didn't. I
just learned this too, so you just mentioned it. The
winter solstice is not actually until this Saturday, the twenty first,
at four am, but as of yesterday, the sunset times
will get later and later. Even th though the days
are still getting just slightly shorter because the stun will
stay up a little bit longer, but it will also rise
(32:39):
a little bit later. But I don't care about the
mornings at all. I only care about what time the
sun sets. And we went from five oh eights yesterday
today five oh nine, so there's light at the end
of the tunnel. Literally, people, I don't.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Know for all parents that early bedtime is still pretty nice.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
For your kids.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Feeling good comes at you a couple times a day.
I always want to lift your spirits. We'll do it
again tomorrow, sixty five nine Mack and Schmidty in the
morning weekday, starting at six am on Star one oh
five point seven
