Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
I of it. Mac and Schmitty in the morning on
Star one o five point seven, smity, good morning, Welcome
into your Wednesday. And yes it's another Chiley one. Temperatures
out there hovering in the mid to upper teens around
West Michigan as well. You might see a little bit
more snow coming down here and there. But you know what,
my kids have gamified snow. At this point. It's all
(00:31):
Blake Harms's fault too. The snow day predictor has got
to be looked at at least sixteen times every single
time it snows now, like there's the chance, what does
it say? What is it? Are we moderate?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Following on Instagram?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Are we very low?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Very low last night?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Very aware that it was low last night? So thank you, Blake.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
It feels doesn't feel as chilly to me today as
it did yesterday. So that's how I'm gonna start this
day positively. And you know what, the roads I think
are a little bit better again. I passed about three
plows throwing that salt down, so hopefully not as crazy
of a.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Morning as we had.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
That's right, My night filled with hot cross buns, how
to go pontoons?
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
You know, it was almost as if a hundred person
band of children who had only been playing together for
or a played period for a few months came together
for the very first time and blared their instruments, and
you know what, I could identify basically every single song.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
That's huge.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
I was a little confused when itsy Bitsy Spider came up.
I don't know if they took an artistic interpretation of
itsy Bitsy Spider, but it was a little bits This
is sixth grade. Yeah, these are all six graders their
first year.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
With their Instagram, you're identifying sixth grade music. You guys
are a bunch of Beethoven's about.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
To be movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Well, good news for hopeful donation to the relief efforts
in LA with those wildfires still burning. An upcoming benefit
concert for victims has just exploded with interest, and according
to organizers, it's going to be exciting, it's going to
be engaging, and it's going to raise a ton of
money with big name artists and bands clamoring for a
(02:18):
chance to help out. So there's been an outpouring of
interest for this. More than fifty artists and bands have
already asked to participate, only twenty four slots for this thing.
The benefit concert, being called Fire Aid, was first announced
is being held at the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California,
but now sources say it will also be held at
(02:39):
a second location, the Forum, just down the street. Because
this is getting so big, they're trying to accommodate everyone
that wants to be a part of this. We don't
have any confirmation about bands and artists that will be here,
but the performances will be streamed live.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
This is massive now.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Two of the big names that, according to sources, will
not be a part of this, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
It's not that they don't necessarily want to be, but
they aren't really rooted in LA and so many other
artists that call it home want this to be a
very big deal. And speaking of monetary donations, a go
fund me has just surpassed one hundred million dollars for
(03:20):
fire victims thanks to big celebrities stepping in, and this
go fundme goes to all sorts of different organizations like
World Central Kitchen, the Salvation.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Army, Baby to Baby. We see names like.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Tony Hawk, Gal Gadot, Kristen Bell, Pink Cheryl Crow, Meghan Trainor,
Ernold Schwarzenegger, and Sophia Vargara, all giving big, big amounts
to help in any.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Way they can.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I mean, this is a really cool opportunity, I guess,
to obviously raise some funds, but to also let those
people kind of come together and heal with that thing
that they do best, which is their art, right, Like
getting so many of them up on stage together. I said,
you know, they said cap at twenty four, just let
them keep going.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Well, that's the one.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
That's why they're adding a second location, because they've already
had more than fifty people interested in this.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
So I'll keep you updated once we start to learn
some names.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Speaking of Sophia Virgara, though new couple Alert, she was
seen hanging out and getting very very flirty with Formula
one race car driver Lewis Hamilton. Apparently they were out
together in New York yesterday with some friends, but eyewitnesses
both inside and outside the restaurant because they were sitting
right at a bay window, said they were very play full,
(04:31):
very flirty, and in fact, when Sophia went to leave,
she kind of hung out at her SUV for a while,
getting very kind of touchy feely. Now, neither have confirmed anything,
but Sophia did say in twenty twenty five she was
manifesting health, money and a lover. I'm interesting and hey,
f one parties are always a lot of funs I
(04:51):
totally go for that. Finally, Diddy is once again responding
to allegations in lawsuits over these quota quote freakoff parties,
this time saying that the freakof videos the government is
trying to use against him actually prove his innocence. He
says the only thing you'll see on the tapes is
a very consensual relationship. He even talks about ex girlfriend Cassie, saying,
(05:17):
take a look enjoying herself. This is just two adults
consenting things that are totally fine. New legal documents have
been filed with Diddy's defense team saying they've seen all
nine of these videos and the content amounts to private
activity between fully consenting adults in a long term relationship.
They're also claiming his ex Cassie not only consented but
(05:40):
enjoyed herself. And prosecutor saying this is elaborate, this is
something that he knows was wrong. The defense is going
hard against that, saying I can prove, we can prove
all nine of these tapes will not show anything that
you think he's done. Coercion, violence, threats, manipulation, all of
it is false.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Man. I mean, it's just going to continue to escalate
it escalina. I feel like it's we get closer to
them finally getting to a court battle.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Com sometime does on get a good feeling.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
She'sneven a five point seven in smack and scheeddy looking.
He gets you feeling good right now. And we hope
that people who put good out into the world get
good back right Spendy absolutely, And that's what happened to
Captain America. He was having a real bad day around
Christmas time. His name is Matt Nozak, and he was
on his way to a Christmas charity performance at a
(06:32):
children's hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado, dressed as Captain America.
One of the favorites there at the hospital went his
motorcycle broke down on a busy highway, and it broke
down in a terrible spot where there was almost no
shoulder for the bike to either get towed by or
to really move to a safe spot. Luckily, a real
life superhero sprang into action, to the form of Douglas
(06:54):
County Sheriff Deputy Zach Zepeski, who arrived on the scene
and the kind Deputy just Blue Captain America away with
his amazing active generosity abound Christmas time. Listen to this
the whole thing called on bodycam footage.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Get in good.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Conscience, leave a nice motorcycle and.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Givin that you're going to a children's hospital. Are doing
all that? I got a co truck coming. I'm gonna
move you bike from here to just somewhere off that Yes,
into a parking long okay, but I don't want you
moving this. It can hit whatever you put it on
the trailer. I'll give you if you can give me
a number. Yeah, I'll give you my number. You can
call me personally. I'll let you know where it is.
(07:35):
I'm gonna pay for it. No, no, no, no, it's
Christmas time and I'm not That's what happens it's okay,
don't worry about that.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
That's something the bottom my hart don't be on. The
police officer decided to pay for the whole thing out
of his own pocket to have the bike toed someplace safe,
get Captain America to the children's hospital, his performance, and
take care of all of that. I mean a couple
the superheroes who put good into.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
The world right now, Yes, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I was following this story like all last week. A
man whose home was destroyed and the Palisades fire breaking
down after finally being reunited with his beloved dog after
it went missing. So this starts last week. Palisades resident
Casey Colvin was very emotional when k NBC in LA
(08:25):
tried to interview him about his home.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
He couldn't get to it. He saw the fire on
the hill. Here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
When the evacuation orders came down, he was at work,
so he didn't have a chance to get back and
get his dogs.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Listen to this fire is literally on the hill where
I live.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
What's going through your mind when you see that? I
hope to God my dogs are okay, They're my family.
I literally rescued him off the street and the deserved
better than I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. How do
I get?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
I mean, there were so many people that felt that
because animals weren't able to be gotten to by five
days later and his dog Oreo was able to survive
in the rubble. This is the moment Casey was finally
allowed by law enforcement to get back to his home
and saw what was waiting for him at his gate.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
He take.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Hi fire, honey, Oh my love, you love, You're alive.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Thank you Jesus, Oh, thank you God.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Absolutely incredible. I posted this on our Insta stories. A
lot of families are hoping this happens for them as well.
He waited in five and a half hours of traffic
to get back to his home and find this dog.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
It was just amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I feel like I could hear both of their tails waggon, spinnish,
really cute. That is super cute. Feeling good. Always here
to highlight those great things that are going on out
there for you, all around you when you're looking for it.
We'll do it again this morning here on Star.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
It's the Celebrities group on Star one oh five point
seven well.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
The Princess of Wales had very good news yesterday revealing
her cancer is officially in remission. Princess Kate had a
very emotional visit to the hospital where she underwent treatment
last year. In a statement on social media, she offered
her heartfelt thanks to those who helped her and hubby,
Prince William navigate the treatment, describing her time as a
(10:32):
patient being exceptional. She writes, it's a relief to now
be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As
anyone who's experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes
time to adjust to a new normal. She actually visited,
like I said, that hospital. She had undergone treatment at
the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, meeting with so many
(10:54):
different patients. In one very emotional moment, she talked with
Catherine feel undergoing very very serious radiation and actually joked
about her port used to deliver drugs right into the
system of cancer patients, saying I got so attached to it.
I was almost kind of reluctant when they said you
(11:15):
have to take it out now, and you could see
Catherine just not in agreement.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
She got it.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
The Princess was really really helpful to so many of
these patients. According to her Kensington Palace office, they said
she would continue returning to public facing engagements, but again
this is going to be very, very gradual. While they
say visits like this are especially important to the Princess
as she reflects on her own personal cancer journey, I.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Think it's I mean, obviously that's incredible news right there.
But how relieved for of course Prince William, but the kids,
you know, to see their mom into remission and to
have had that experience. I think it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
A light for the paper in law who's still fighting it.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I believe.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah, mister Beast could be stepping up to save TikTok,
social media's biggest stars, has the chance to become a
part owner in one of the world's most popular social
media platforms. Remember, we are just days away from this
band taking effect. Sources say that Jimmy Donaldson his real
(12:16):
life name, and his team are actually in conversation with
multiple parties who have expressed interest in buying TikTok. They
started on Monday when mister Beast tweeted out, okay, fine,
I'll buy TikTok. So it doesn't get banned. Well, it
went viral, and then yesterday he gave an update saying, unronically,
I've had so many billionaires reach out to me since
(12:38):
I tweeted this.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Let's see if we can pull this off.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Sources say that mister Beast would hypothetically invest in the
company and then secure equity, becoming a minority owner. But
apparently billionaires are interested in doing this, but admit they're
not super sure on the whole social platform and would
really love someone who's belt well versed in it to
maintain and expand the business. They believe, with mister Beast's
(13:05):
very unique success on social media that he would make
a great partner.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
So we'll see. They have until Sunday.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
I would not call myself a mister Beast fan. However,
I will tell you my family is obsessed with Beast
games right now, big time.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Yeah. If you don't know mister Beast, your kids definitely do.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Finally, I'm going to try to spin this in the
most positive way that I can, because I know Lions
fans are not going to want to hear even more
of this. But yesterday ESPN's Adam Schefter joined the Pat
McAfee show. It's to make a pretty serious accuse, not accusation.
You can't think of the word right now, Morning Show brain.
(13:42):
But said that, unfortunately Lions fans, this isn't going to
be great.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Aaron Glenn is going to get a job in the cycle.
Ben Johnson is going to get a job in the cycle.
And I think that there's every possibility and probably likelihood
that the Lions are going to be losing both their
coordinators in this cycle.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
I mean, we've heard a lot, We know that they
have been interviewing with multiple teams.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
The reason I did this story is that Adam tends
to know everything, and generally if he's saying things like this,
he's not necessarily going public with the info he has.
But you'll hear, like weeks down the line, that's exactly
what's gonna happen. So here's how I positively spin it
for you guys. If that is the case and you
do lose both Johnson and Glenn, that just gives more
(14:29):
grit to your team to win that Super Bowl before
they're gone.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Okay, you had a lot more to say about the Lions.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I do have that interview from the Pat McAfee show
with your scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
I'm starting a five points seven good morning to you.
Welcome into Wednesday, another cold one. Tim shitting the teens
out there right now, and you'd like to avoid doing stuff.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Hold on, it is nineteen in Grand Rapids, feels like six.
Twenty on the Lake Shore feels like seven because we
got to get very particular here considering what I want
to talk about, which which is the worst possible thing
you have to do in this super frigid weather because
for me, and I think so many people, I hate
(15:08):
getting gas.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
I hate getting gas in this cold. I don't know
what it is like.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Even if you go to a station that's got a
really nice roof, you know, and you're not technically getting
snowed on. But it's like those pumps create a wind tunnel,
and the pumps somehow moves slower like they pump it
a much slower.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
It takes about double the time to fill your tank.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
That's when Einstein's theory of relativity is just beating you down.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Yeah, diagels mc squared except in single digit tent and
I just, oh, I hate it. And then I get
nervous because I wait and then you're on fumes, which
is also super bad for your car. Everyone tells me
you're not supposed to let it go below like half
a tank in this weather.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
My wife actually asked me last night. She's like, hey,
I'm a below a quarter of a tank? Do I
need to fill up? And I go, honey, I have
never one time believe that gas is gonna freeze on me,
and it certainly isn't unless it's like negative whatever. I'm like,
you got more than an eighth, I'd leave that bad book.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Then I'm on the side of one thirty one with
frozen gas going. I'm the one I proved it's a face.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
He'd kill me.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
What is the thing you cannot stand doing in this
cold weather? I put this up on Facebook and a
lot of people had some good ones. Janna with the
animal chores, I think this a very respectful way.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Well, so I wanted to say that too, because Lisa
said in two walking the Dog, and I don't. I
love walking the dog. I don't care how cold it
is to me. There's a qualifier to this whole conversation,
which is is it windy? Because I don't care how
cold it is. It's about whether or not it's wind
I don't care if it's twenty eight. If it's windy,
I'm free.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
We ran a Midwestern It really wouldn't be bad if
it wasn't for the wind.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
But do you put shoes on your dog?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
I do not. I do put his I do put
his car heart coat on him when he goes out there,
but no shoes. However, the thing that that stress that's
me is is actually picking up the poop because I
go with my gloves out and I'm all warm, I'm toasty, yeah,
until it comes time to pick up the poo, and
then I have to take the glove off because they're
too big to get my hand in the stupid bag
(17:13):
to do the whole inside out. Moveshmitty. And the next
thing I know, I can't get my glove right back
or my hand right going back into the glove, and
there's exposed skin on my wrist and my fingers are freezing,
and I got a bag of poop I got to carry.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
You need to go to Chowhound because they've got bigger bags.
I've never had that problem. Just as I open with
the gloves out, I've got no problem. But you should,
you should be careful the booty's on the pups because
the salt and everything and the pads are really.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Really dangerous for dogs.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Interesting.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
So, I mean, I've got littler dogs that can just
get their exercise by doing zoomies in the living room.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
I realize that's not everybody.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Like walking the dog can be a really really hard
thing to do in this cold weather and can be
kind of dangerous for them.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
So I feel you on that, Lisa.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
It's MJ.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
For me though.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Grocery shopping, Oh yeah, I hate pushing a cart in
the snow that might be getting gas because at least
when you're getting gas, you've prepared yourself. You know you're
gonna hate life for the eleven minutes you're standing there.
You've probably brought a decent enough coat because you know
it's gonna be windy ripping through the gas station. But
grocery shopping, you think you can get in fast enough
(18:19):
that you're not as prepared, and then at least one
of the little wheels gets caught in the slush, and
then if you're coming out with a packed full cart,
and then you've got to load your car.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
MJ.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I've getting gas might have moved to my number two
because not only do I hate grocery shopping anyway, no
matter the weather, because I'm a grown toddler and I
can't do it very well in the wintertime. That might
be the best parking lots at grocery stores.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
In the winter.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Mailed it, what do you think, Oh my goodness, the
thing you hate doing in this super frigid weather.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Give us a call four five eight, one oh five seven.
Hit that talk back on our iHeartRadio app starting on.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Fine point seven. Thanks for starting your morning with us
Mack and Schmidty here on Star and of course on
Wednesdays we keep it real with our latest. It's been
the I got to go back to over New Year's
when my family was lucky enough to take a trip
down to Florida over the New Year and we went
to Universal Studios. Really cool, but man, a lot of walking. Obviously,
(19:20):
whenever you're at a theme park that it's that big,
that's all you do all day long. We all keep
track of how many steps we're at and we get
to like ten miles, twenty thousand steps. All that good stuff.
Kids too, though, And my daughter came and she was
rocking her tennis shoes, and there are you know, basically
brand new shoes. And as a woman, Schmitty, not brand new.
(19:41):
They'd been broken in, right, they'd been broken in, but
they were relatively new, looked nice and all that stuff.
But these were like her, sort of like play shoes
that we had gotten, not the ad school shoes. She
hadn't worre them as much. However, Smitty is a woman.
Have you ever bought the same pair of shoes twice
in a row because you liked them so much? Yeah,
I've done that before too, And that's what happened with
my daughter this time around. She had actually had this
(20:03):
exact same pair of shoes previous to our trip, that
she had all summer long, grew out of them, loved
the shoes, bought another pair, and we liked them a ton.
So we're at the park and only about an hour in,
really early into this, we're waiting in one of our
first big lines of the day and my daughter starts
complaining about her feet. Oh my foot hurts, Oh my
(20:25):
my god, just aching. Oh this is how long do
we have to wait? And I'm over here, like, man,
it's gonna be a long day if you are complaining already,
like we're gonna do a ton of standing, a ton
of walking. Yeah, I don't know what to tell you,
a kid like you just got to suck it up.
Buttercup shitty. We went about our day for about five
hours before we went on our first water rides, and
(20:47):
when we are on the water ride, she comes off
with soaking shoes, takes a step and part of her
shoe just completely rips open. At the scene and we're like,
oh man, oh no. We look at the shoes. My
daughter had brought one shoe that was size six and
one shoe that was size five, but because they were
(21:07):
the exact same show, she didn't know about it. So
the foot that she was wearing all day long, it
was a full size too small for her.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
That's not on you, Oh it felt not.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
I felt like it was on me. And you know
what was the forty dollars flip flops that would have
cost five dollars anywhere else, but I had to buy
at Universal Studios.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Oh if you thought the drama over the movie, it
ends with us had and did. You'd be so wrong,
because now director and co star Justin Baldoni is dragging
Disney and Marvel into his lawsuits, holding telling them to
hold on to all documents related to the various care
characters Ryan Reynolds has played in Deadpool and Wolverine. Justin
(22:04):
continues to mount his legal case, and this is not
the first time he's mentioned Ryan in these documents. Baldoni's lawyer,
Brian Friedman, fired off allegal letter to both Marvel's Kevin
fig and Disney's Bob Iiger, indicating he believes Reynolds was
openly mocking Baldoni in a scene from that movie that
was released last year. I had that in scoop that
(22:26):
week between Christmas in New Year's when he had first
fired off these allegations kind of to bury in the
holiday news. So Reynolds plays the character nice Pool and
drops the line about Blake Lively potentially snapping back after
having a baby. You meet Baby Pool, and Baldoni believes
the point where he talks about this podcast host that
(22:48):
seems to be feminist is directly related to him.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
The letter is demanding the.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Studio keeps all documents all documents relating to or reflecting
a del liberate attempt to mock, harass, ridicule, intimidate, or
bully bell Doni through the character of nice Pool.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
I didn't even know you could do this, Reynolds.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Worth, pointing out, is also writer and producer as well
as star on these movies. The letter mentioned some of
the anticipated claims could include I think I'm saying this right,
tortious interference with contract, and civil extortion. Disney has not
said anything, neither has Marvel or Reynolds about this. I
(23:32):
didn't know you could get so object They made fun
of me in the movie. However, I will say taking
on Ryan Reynolds just seems like a terrible idea, just
because that guy everything he touches turns to gold.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
It does and it doesn't.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
It is so fascinating to watch this on social media
right now, because you've got fifty to fifty. You've got
people going Blake's in the right, it's great, and the
new people going Blake and Ryan are terrible people. It's
the first time this is coming out.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Ley.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
It's very very interesting to watch this.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Okay, Paris Hilton is helping out a family who is
so thankful to be reunited with a cat that was
lost during.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Those LA wildfires, So check this out.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Paris has been volunteering her time as well as raising
money for the Pasadena Humane Society and looked to reunite
a cat displaced by the deadly eaten fire. So she
posted to her Instagram and her TikTok talking about this
cat that came she believes from Alta Dina and gave
the ID number just a few days in. It was
shared so many times the family finally saw it. Paris
(24:33):
during the news yesterday saying I just got a message
from the Pasadena Humane Society and Carter had his family
found now. Unfortunately, the family did lose everything, including their home,
so he'll remain at the shelter for now. But the
family was able to see video and was just so
excited because they really thought that that was going to
be another loss. Right And finally, Oh boy, get ready,
(24:57):
Lions fans, yet another party hour playoff bound Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Auto Show has announced it's hosting a Giant
Lions Rally concert featuring Grammy nominated artist Mike Posner. Tons
of Lions greats will be at the event as well,
including if you're looking to get in Herman Moore, Joey Bell,
(25:19):
Corey Schlessinger, Eddie Murray, and TJ.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Lang.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
This is pretty sweet. Tickets are only going to be
ten bucks. You do need to register, but you'll also
get your auto show Public Day ticket for that.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
So this is gonna go down Friday night at the
Grand River Ballroom inside Huntington Place.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I love that Mike Posner is a Detroit artists that
we get to see time with big things like that.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Yes, speaking of the Lions real quick, that Lions Commander's
game Saturday night the most expensive ticket for a non
Super Bowl game in NFL history. The average purchase price
of a ticket right now for ford Field is nine
hundred and ninety one dollars per And if you were thinking, ah,
(26:01):
if I'm strong enough, I could do standing room only,
that's going to cost you over five hundo.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
All of you are celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Com, Domino Fine Points seven. Good morning to you. It's
Mack and Schmitty Battle of the Sexiest Time and it's
got a big name and it's gonna be big fun
for the family too. Talking about the PBR Pendleton Whiskey
Velocity Tour of the Rodeos coming Schmitty.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah, Van Andelerna for two days January twenty fourth and
twenty fifth. We've got the family's tickets with today's number
one answer. One hundred men surveyed what would a kid
want to do all day long during their summer vacation.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
I don't know, but apparently every three seconds requires them
to ask for a snack that I know for certain.
I don't know what they want to do all the long?
Snack snack? Where do we have for snacks?
Speaker 2 (26:45):
My kids?
Speaker 3 (26:45):
That's not just summer, that's a spring, summer, fall, winter, holidays.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Can't get enough of the snack age?
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven
collar seven. One hundred men surveyed what would a kid
want to do all day long during your summer vacation?
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Hit us up and you're going to the rodeo?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
It's star, good morning star. Who's this Nancy? Nancy? Let's
see if we can get you to the rodeo. One
hundred women were asked, Nancy, what might a kid want
to do all day long during summer break? What do
you think?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
The top answer is play video games?
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Play video games. You know, I think that I think
that's exactly what a lot of kids would want to do.
But that is actually the number two answer on there. Surprisingly,
I would have went with that one too, Nancy. I'm sorry,
all right, thank you, Hi Star? Who's this? Brandon? I
just got a great guest from Nancy. When one hundred
(27:41):
women were asked what might a kid want to do
all day long during summer break? Nancy just gave the
answer that I would have given to because even though
you were going to kick him out of the house
at some point, they want to play video games all
day long. But that's the number two most common answers
to Brandon, what do you think the top one is?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I was gonna say video.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Games, but if not, I want sleep ooh sleep. Yeah,
You're you're moving into that teenage years of summer vacation,
and that is the number three most common answer. I'm sorry, thanks, Brandon,
Hi Star, who's this? Jessica for a couple of odd guesses,
but not the top answer. So far, one hundred women
(28:22):
were asked what might kid want to do all day
long during summer break? And so far I heard video games? Yep,
playing video games all day long. Your mom's not gonna
hopefully let you do that. And then sleep, which is
of course a teenager's favorite thing to do when there's
nothing else going on. But those were the number two
and three answers, respectively. So Jessica, you got a chance.
What do you think the top one is? Ah, those
(28:44):
were my two guesses.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
I'm gonna say, play outside.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Play outside. The words get outside come out of my
mouth very often during summer break, and that's the top answer. Jessica. Congratulation,
Thank you. Yeah, you're going to the PBR Rodeo Intown
later this month over at Van Andel' going to be
a blast awesome. Thank you, You're very welcome, and we'll
do it again tomorrow. Battle of the Sections every weekday
(29:09):
eight fifteen here on Starlin on five point seven, stelling
a fine points scheven. It's Mack and Schmidty, and I
want to ask you parents, because I know it's happened
to you, It's happened to all of us. You might
have done it to your parents like I did. What's
the hobby your activity? Thing you wanted to get into
as a kid so bad you begged your parents? It
(29:29):
was expensive. They dropped the coin on you and then
you just lost interest right away because when your kids
do it, it's so frustrating, right And last night it
was it was very apparent that it wasn't just me
who was going through this, as I was at my
sixth grade daughter's first band show, as I mentioned, and
here's a little sample of their first concert ever. See
here you can recognize the song Schmidty.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Actually, that's really impressive for a first band.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Cons I was there for that one. I'm a nation
army from our very own wide stripes. Heck, yes, pretty cool.
But here's the part that I thought was interesting. So
I got there and I see the mom of one
of my kids friends and I go up. I go, hey,
I gotta ask you a question. How many times is Beckett,
you know, practice as trumpet since he's got it. And
(30:18):
his mom goes, oh, like once the day he got
it home, and I'm like, oh, okay, same same here
with me. I see another couple of their parents and
they are just talking about the kids and playing their instruments,
and my one friend, Holly goes, I'm actually amazed at
how good they were, considering that I know my daughter
has not practiced one single time since getting.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Her this, they had band a lot. Like when I
was in band, we practiced four days a week at school.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
They practiced two days a week at school. And but
I remember sixth grade band. I was required to come
home and practice and I played the trombones. It was
super annoying for my family to have to listen to
that loud brass instrument every day. I'm squeaky clean ears
at home. And we dropped about three hundred and fifty bucks. Yeah,
to make band happen this year, Shaddy and every single
(31:03):
one of those parents. I was like, so are they
gonna do it again next year? And oh god, no,
I'm not renting an instrument again. That's not happening. I
asked my daughter on the way home. I'm like, so,
do you think you want to keep up the claiinet?
You want to do it? And she goes, I don't know.
I guess i'll see what elections they have next year,
and I'm like elections you mean electives, Yeah, electives, I'll
(31:24):
see what electives they had. So you don't like it
enough to practice, and you don't like it enough to
know that you want to continue on with it if
there's not some sort of better option out there for
you to do it.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
We'll just play it by ear And I'm just sitting
here in my head going, I wonder how much money
I'll spend the next activity.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
But like band may be low point and fifty.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
When you're talking about things very hockey, it's because I'll
tell you right now, the best thing I ever saw
on Facebook was one of my friends. Right, I'm gonna
follow your dreams kind of parent unless that dream changes.
But I've already paid for six weeks of your dream
and then you'll be following that.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
It's five on a fon points, Yeah and feel good
variety of the eighties till now. Thanks for sharing this
chilly morning with guys. Yeah, of course she did see Schmanni.
While we might see some more snow coming our way,
looks like we will. We're back into the thirties at
least for the weekend. Let's not look ahead to Monday.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Let's not, because honestly, thirties mean heat waves.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Sometime.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Does that get a good feeling?
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Well, then midweek pick me up that we all need.
It's feeling good on starleinol fan points. See I've been
Macka Schmenty with you.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Well, this is such a fabulous idea. While so many
have been affected by those wildfires in Los Angeles, fourteen
year old Avery Colvert wanted to focus on a specific group,
and that's teenage girls. Along with her army of volunteers,
she has started out to Dean of Girls, a fundraiser
(32:49):
that has now gone viral with closed donations, makeup, hair tools.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Things that we might not always think of.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
As necessary, but to so a teenage girl can be
everything to her mental health. Talking to ABC seven, Avery,
whose home was thankfully spared but whose school was seriously damaged,
knew she needed to help friends.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
I wanted to create a space where girls can get
all new items that will help restore their identity back
in their personal identity and their confidence.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
She started posting about the fundraiser and it went huge,
Paris Hilton posting about it, Mindy Kayling posting about it.
Avery says she got a personal message from Charlie XCX.
Her team showed up with bags of makeup from Sephora.
Ariana Grande then personally DMed her and said her brand
(33:43):
Arim Beauty will be headed there today to bring as
much stuff as they can possibly fit. Avery said, it
is just a wonderful reminder of the heart of LA.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
To see the heart of the people of Los Angeles.
People dropped everything and they immediately came to our donation
centers and we have volunteers who have been here since
day one, and it really shows the true heart of
these people and how much they really want to help.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
It's such a cool thing and all of this done
my teenagers just wanting to help out their peers. So
if you want to check out more West Michigan Star.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Dot com, I love that and you know, thinking about
those people in the heart of those folks in LA.
Here's another one right now. Schmidi is a twenty nine
year old construction worker in lifelong animal lover Jacob Deutsch.
He wanted to help during those fires as they broke
out last week. Watching the nerve racking updates from his
Beverly Hills home. He wound up getting concerned not only
(34:38):
for the people there, but also some of those bigger
animals that you can imagine would be so difficult perhaps
to move during wildfires and emergency situations like this, horses,
livestock in the area. So he offered his assistance via
social media and began rescue operations using his fifty five
foot trailer that's built the whole ten horses. He had
(34:58):
a lifeline of over wehelmed and desperate live stock owners
from fire affected areas like the Palisades, Malibu to Panga.
He and his wife Ashley, they not only use that
trailer to get some of those animals to safety, but
they actually opened up their own house, their own property
to some of those animals, as well as transporting others
to safe havens, often coming within one hundred feet of
(35:21):
those fires and getting those animals out just in time.
So over the last several days, he and his wife
have rescued more than ninety animals, including horses, donkeys, in livestock,
saying that he's just happy that everything, all those animals
are safe and sound. That he's not done. He plans
on helping for as long as the wildfires persists, saying
I like to help people or animals in any way
(35:43):
I can. I always have. And it's really like you said,
that heart of Los Angeles and all those people coming
together to help each other. That's gonna make you look
for the helpers.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
That includes the animal lovers.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Time, feeling good coming at you a couple times a day.
I always want to share that positivity. Let's do it
again tomorrow six forty five and nine twenty here on
starf Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday, starting at
six am on Star one oh five point seven
