Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me lab.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
It Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one
of five point seven morning, I was at good Morning
until I just realized that had a hole in my lip
and just just try to take a drink of my coffee,
spilled it all down the front of my shirt. We
will start our Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Today, ash Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
That's very true. Way to point it out, Schmitty, as
we are about to jump into the lenten season, if
you will, and the ash Wednesday, which is the opportunity
for random children to see you in the store if
you're a practicing Catholic and go, why is that guy
got dirt on his head?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
I must only have Catholic friends because all of our
kids have the ashes on there.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Oh, my daughter's very excited.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
She's going to school today and they always they have
like a little little thing in the preschool because the
preschoolers don't go to church every week like the rest
of the school. And so she's super excited because she
remembers getting ashes last year.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
So let me ask you about being a Catholic kid. Then, Shretty,
what did you think was cooler as kid? Palm Sunday
or ash Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
I liked that you got something up home Sunday, but
I didn't like that it was a two and a.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Half hour mass.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
That might be true. I don't have memories of having
to be h extras, you know, extra still for really
long mask?
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Did you ever have to serve one?
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I was an altar boy for one season, for one
year of my life, but after that I get as it.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Was a ten year alter server.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
So let me break down what the length of every
holiday mass is?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well you knew that.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
No, that new reality show The Baldwins that just premiered
on TLC gave us quite a bombshell for episode number two,
Alec Baldwin's White Pelaria talking about those days following that
fatal shooting on the Rust set back in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I found these text messages the other day between us,
you know, the day after, and he said he wanted
to kill himself.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
He has survivor's guilt.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
You're involved in this thing that nobody could even possibly imagine.
And so he goes.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Back to on that day, he wishes it were him.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Hilaria goes on to say that this has not just
tremendously impacted Alex's mental health, but his physical health. She
said he now deals with some pretty serious heart issues.
He's prone to fainting spells. He's even been hospitalized multiple times,
something that the family has continued to try and keep private.
(02:48):
She said that they're hoping they're getting closer to the
light at the end of the tunnel, but this has
just been really, really challenging. Did also use the moment
to remind people that there is help where you can
tech nine eight eight or chat at nine to eight
eight lifeline dot org.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
It's so interesting to me that this is even happening
with the Baldwins, that they're even doing a reality show,
just because it appears like Alec just went through what
would obviously be the most tumultuous part.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
It's Trauma's light, it's trauma.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Right, and the family's undergone so much stuff. Every time
he gets stopped in the street by somebody, it seems
like there's some sort of angry interaction going on. Why
are you doing reality TV? Man?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Money?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Does he eat it all right?
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Gabrielle Union is giving a major health update on her husband,
former and NBA star Dwayne Wade and his shocking cancer diagnosis.
You might have missed, but back in twenty twenty three,
he had told his family he was officially diagnosed with
kidney cancer, but is now cancer free after a removal
of the tumor. Gabrielle was on the recent episode of
(03:52):
the View when co host Sonny Houston asked if Dwayne
was doing better.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
I think I was in such shock when he told
me the diagnosis. You hear cancer, you're paralyzed because you
think of the absolute worst case scenario. I've had so
many friends who are cancer survivors. I didn't go there.
I went to the work. He's gone and so took
it took all of us a while, and he didn't
(04:19):
tell everybody. He didn't even tell our whole family. He
really wanted this to be very under the radar. He
didn't tell any you know, anyone, and so, yes, he's
had the surgery and he's cancer free.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
But it was a child Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
In fact, last month was actually the first time Gabrielle
officially opened up about this. But cancer research and journey
for other families is going to be a big passion
for them now, because she said, you don't really understand
the toll it takes on your marriage, your family, your kids,
and we want to use this to be a support
system for all of those things.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I mean, great to see the advocacy, great to see.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
The newsy's cancer. Hell yeah. And finally it is the
end of an era.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Officially Adidas announcing it has sold its last remaining payer
of Yeasy.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Trainers in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
They made the announcement early this morning, the sale marking
the final stage of the process of liquidating stock of
the shoe line that they developed with Wrapper Yea. Remember
they officially cut ties in October of twenty twenty two.
Then they were on this huge legal journey. It was
until October last year they finally settled out of court.
(05:28):
I do this though, because this has to be maybe
the pettiest sounding statement I've ever heard, a data saying
the sale of the remaining Yeasy inventory contributed an immaterial
amount to the company's operating profit in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Ohnh Good, oh man.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I think it's gonna be crazy how much yeasies go
for now, right like now that they're out of it.
It's gonna be I will be interested.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
I don't know anybody wanting to buy his stuff. I
will be interested to see if that's actually what happens.
All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Sometimes because I'd get a good.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Feeling, he.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Stimino five point seven. Always looking to brighten up your day,
just a little bit of feeling good right now and
spending your story yesterday is what had me thinking about
this is we talked about a girl from right here
in West Michigan who was raising one hundred and twenty
thousand dollars for honor flights to get some of our
nation's heroes to go see some of the tributes to
them in Washington, d C. Well, when I saw this
(06:32):
story today, I wanted to share it with you because
these are the fruits of the efforts of people just
like that little girl from right here in West Michigan.
As William Barbara, he's seen a lot in ninety nine years,
but something he has never seen are those very same
tributes that I was talking about for those brave men
and women who like him served our country, but for
this World War Two. Vett Well that's about to change
for his one hundredth birthday coming up on Saint Patrick's Day.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
See.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
William served in the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic
after enlisting following the Pearl Harbor attacks. While, according to
his daughter Laura, just like so many of our veterans,
he's often been very hesitant to talk about his service,
aware of the many soldiers who never made it home.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
I'm shy to take any credit for what he did
because he was well aware that so many men he
saw never came back.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I'm so proud and so happy that he came home,
that's right, and he's made the most of that life,
living a great one, but wanting to get there. And
then the lead up to this one hundredth birthday, Barbara
was asked if he'd be interesting in taking part in
this honor flight program, which gets veterans those all expenses
paid trip to the war memorials in the nation's capital. Well,
George Ferrell, who's the chairman of the Rhode Island Fire
(07:40):
Chiefs Honor Flight Hub, personally extended an invitation to him
just late last week to get to get William there
to Washington. We have a flight schedule for March thirtieth,
and we'd be happy if you'd let us take you
on your own a flight. Wow, sounds like fun. It
is a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
So it wasn't for you and men and women's service
to our country, we wouldn't be taking on avoids.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Pretty special gift for a one hundredth birthday. By the way,
he attributes his longevity as we're losing more and more
of those World War II bets every day. Never drank,
never smoked, smiddy about what he did do is play
the heck out of the clarinet. I enjoy it. I've
been through a lot. I may share this story with
(08:27):
my daughter in hopes that she starts practicing hers.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
So for years, figure skater maxim Namov's parents had been
his biggest supporters, but this past Sunday, the grief stricken
Team USA Skater took.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
The ice alone.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
It was Legacy on Ice, a first ever fundraiser because
unfortunately maxim parents, skating coaches of a Gina Shishkova and
vdim Namov, were among the sixty seven people that lost
their lives in that American Airlines incident in Washington, d C.
The twenty three year old honoring their legacy at the fundraiser,
skating to their favorite song before falling to his knees
(09:04):
on the ice and sobbing. The heartbreaking moment brought the
audience to tears.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
With a standing.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Ovation as Maxon left the ice holding one single handle.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
It was truly unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
He took to Instagram thanking everyone, saying, I'm truly at
a loss for words to express the depth of my
gratitude and love for each and every one of you
to date. Just a couple days after that Legacy on
Ice fundraiser reported one point two million dollars has already
been raised for the families of the victims as well
as all of those first responders. Do you want to
(09:43):
see that emotional moment for yourself? And we see us
actually going to carry an encore performance of this on
March thirty aeth What.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
A powerful set. Yeah, unbelievable, feeling good, Always here to
share some of those beautiful things going on out in
our world. They're all around you when you're looking for it,
and it's all thanks to our friends overhead door company
of Grand Rapids, minding you to open your day with positivity.
Let's do it again later out this morning, coming up
at nine to twenty. You're on Star War five point seven.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
It's the celebrities Goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Millie Bobby Brown has a very strong message to the
disturbing behavior from her critics, ruthlessly dissecting her appearance as
she grows up in front of the public eye. The
Stranger Things. Andy Nola Homestar shared a lengthy video to
her Instagram, even directly calling out some of those articles.
Speaker 7 (10:34):
I started in the industry when I was ten years old.
I grew up in front of the world, and for
some reason, people can't seem to grow up with me. Instead,
they act like I'm supposed to stay frozen in time,
like I should still look the way I did on
Stranger Things season one, and because I don't, I'm now
a target. I want to talk about some of the
(10:55):
articles that have recently released while I'm on my press
tour and some of the writers who are so desperate
to tear young women down.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
She goes on to name six to seven different articles
and really gross the majority of them written by.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
Women, amplifying an insult rather than questioning why a grown
man is mocking a young woman's appearance. This isn't journalism,
this is bullying. The fact that adult writers are spending
their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices is disturbing,
and the fact that some of these articles are written
by women makes it even wiss.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, her message really struck a chord in Hollywood. Her
common section flooded with support from stars like Sarah Jessica Parker,
Bella Thorne, and Sharon Stone.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
I mean, unfortunately, Taylor's oldest time the younger, I feel
like you become super famous in Hollywood, the more they
want to follow you around through those transformative views.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
I'll agree these ones seem especially bad. Have you read
some of these headlines? People calling wondering why she decided
to look like an aged mom? One writing an article
about how she was mistaken for her sister's mom because
she looks so old. Why gen Z is aging like
a nightmare. I mean, I cannot imagine having to read
(12:15):
through some of this trash. It's a really great message, though,
It's up for you. At West Michigan Star dot Com.
Then aflag looked to be getting pretty hands on with
ex wife Jennifer Garner pulling her in for multiple hugs
at their son's birthday party. So the exes spent some
qualitied family time together the other day for a paintball
(12:36):
birthday bash for their son Samuel. New pictures have surfaced
and video showing been looking the happiest he has.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
In a very very long time.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
He's smiling, grabbing her hand, giving her hugs. Of course,
it gets the rumor mill going that now that his
divorce is official with Jennifer Lopez, he is trying to
get back together with his ex gen But sources are
saying that is not the case, at least from Garner's side.
She is still in a relationship with investment business CEO
(13:06):
John C.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Miller.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
They are the happiest they've ever been. Her and Ben
are very very upfront about co parenting and keeping a
very amicable and happy relationship. But at least on Jen's
side of it, she has no desire to get back
with her ex husband is.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Jennifer Garner and that investment banker married No? Oh good?
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Video is very very interesting. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Finally, Megan Markles pasta cooking technique is getting quite some
conversation online So yesterday, with Love Meghan officially dropped on Netflix.
This is kind of her new lifestyle series that she's
been promoting, and she tackled a dish called skillet spaghetti.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
She was very excited to show fans.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
To put the dry pasta in you pour boiling water
on top.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
That's it.
Speaker 8 (13:56):
But also when I make this, I make it for
my family enough that my children are eating heaps of noodles.
But you know what, I will make enough that I
can put leftovers in their lunchbox. So for me, it's
an entire pack of spaghetti.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Okay, So did you miss that?
Speaker 4 (14:07):
She puts all of her vegetables and any other ingredients
into her pot, and then she just sets raw noodles
on top.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Pourson three cups of boiling water, and you're good to go.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Isn't that how you make ramen?
Speaker 4 (14:22):
I don't know, but I tell you people online are divided,
some of them saying oh no, also girl putting them
in your kid's lunch box? What time are they eating
lunch at school? I've got the video for you. You
can see if maybe this pasta hack works for you.
West Michigan Star dot Com with.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
All your schools ash Wednesday. Here we go the beginning
of the Lenten season schmitting.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Which I think for anyone religious you immediately think something
to give up for the season. I remember I grew
up very, very devoutly Catholic, and so every lent you know,
my parents have check what are you giving up?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
And I remember the hardest year. I think it was
probably ten or eleven.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
And remember this is the nineties, people, so you could
sit in the front seat of a car before you
were probably safe too, before you were sixteen. Oh, I
gave up the front seat of the car for the
entire forty days. And I know to some people they're like, what,
But I grew up with three brothers and it was
a constant sprint to the car, leaving the house, at
(15:24):
the grocery store, coming out of church, anywhere we went,
sprint to the car to seat who could get the
front seat if weren't driving with both my parents.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
So I gave up the front seat of the car
for all forty days.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
And it was made exceptionally challenging by the fact that
my three brothers would then run and whoever would get
the front seat would.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Be like, oh, so cut up here, Lauren. Wow. Are
you Is it good?
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Because I mean we've got the heat on. Is it
warm enough back there? Did you get something new in
this seat? It's so cushy. Oh, look at all my
leg room, Lauren. I mean, it was just constant every
single day. And I made it to the end of
that forty days and my mom was like, you know,
I understand that giving up the front seat of the
car was very challenging, and I just want you to
(16:06):
know that I'm sure God understood your struggle and was
just very thankful that you did that.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Very christ like Jesus too, well, we've said shotgun for you.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Like yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
So I wonder, like, have you ever or your kids
ever given up something hilarious or weird for Lent? Because
I stumbled upon this list of the twenty five things
they've heard people say they've given up for Lent, and
number one on the list was Target. I'm honestly, honestly,
(16:37):
I mean, I am here to be more christ Like,
but that's a tough one.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
If I'm going there to buy fish and bread. If
I go just to buy fish and bread, is it okay?
If I got a Target? Still?
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Number two, someone gave up hot showers. They took cold
showers for forty days.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
That's a really interesting one. I guess a way to
jump into the cold plunged.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
No way, Yeah, but I want to plunge. That's a minute.
I'm a half hour shower taker. Oh my god, this one.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
I mean, maybe maybe don't do because we still need jobs.
Somebody gave up car audio. They drove around for forty
days in silence.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
That that I mean is the idea to give up
something you use and rely on, or they torture.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
They should have made things more peaceful and meaningful. I
would say, you don't have children, There's no way. Diet
coke was a big one giving up diet coke. And
someone did give up makeup.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
That's an interest, you know what. I think that would
be really interesting to talk to other women about why
you're going through it, right, because I'm sure your best
friends might notice and something like that, to be like, no,
I've given up all makeup for it. Could you do it?
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I did it?
Speaker 4 (17:49):
So when you get lasik done, you cannot put anything
on your eyes for two to four weeks while they're healing.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Every single man I work with here said something at
one point, and usually it was we look pretty tired
this morning.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
God, I'm glad I will for you.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Sure are, because I.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Got to tell you I made a list and a
few of them still work here, and I will never
forget their reaction to me without makeup.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
That's all right, And I'm sure I'm on other lists.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Six one, six, four or five eight one oh five seven?
In honor of ash Wednesday, what is something you've given
up for lent? Maybe your kids have given.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Up for lent?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
And it was actually like really funny and cute if
you can beat the front seat of the car, because
I'm certain I am going straight to the pearly.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Gates for that one.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
See it's funny because you say, you know what of
your kids given up for And I'm just a child
because last year I gave up candy for lent. No
candy my wife goes, including nerds gummy clusters, and I'm like,
well maybe and those those even count? That's like one
of the four major food groups. Yes, I gave up
the nerd cluster. Point seven. It's mac inchimidtee and it's Wednesday,
(18:51):
which means hi, smitty. I had to confess for my
wife today because she was the one who screwed this
one up, but in a way that literally every one
of us has done in our modern world. My son
Connor and his buddies are once again doing their lip
sync battle for their school and they are known as
(19:11):
Nora and the Tantrums because it's one girl, Nora and
then six boys. And last year they did a fits
in the Tantrum song. This year they are doing Bye
Bye Bye Bye and sync. So you understand, obviously choreography
of the very yes, but a very big part. Now.
Trying to teach six nine and ten year old boys
(19:31):
how to do the choreography like a boy band is
not an easy task. So this is a group thing.
So Michelle and two other moms of the boys get
together and they do practices once or twice a week
because it's coming up here pretty quick. And they were
at all at our house earlier this week practicing and
we have this long room where our ping pong table
(19:52):
is normally set up, and we moved it aside so
the boys could practice in there. Came to the end
they turned into squirrels and just couldn't do anymore, and
so the moms, the two moms who had really nailed
down the choreography, decided to do the full two and
a half minutes on video to try and be able
to show the kids at home so they could work
on it on their own. So they spend this time
(20:13):
laying out the whole choreography, and my wife's job is
simply to film them doing it so they can go home. Well,
last night she had a text message in there and
one of the moms like, hey, Michelle, do you have
that video of the choreography so we can work on
it with the boys, And she's like, yeah, I'm pretty
sure I took it on your phone. Well I can't
find it anywhere. That's because my wife holding somebody else's
(20:37):
phone couldn't get all of the shot in there. So
she held the phone back towards the wall and literally
recorded nothing for three minutes until the end. When she
thought she was turning it off, she instead all right,
I try to.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Get your feet more so than on your upper body,
and so the end I think I got your hands.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
But it was hard because.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
She literally started recording after the mom we're done doing
the dance, had completely missed all of the choreography, and
they all wasted their time doing nothing.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
I mean The good news is all you gotta do
is google YouTube and watch the actual guys doing it,
and you're.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Fine, that might work, but we have to tone down
the choreography because it's less like in sync right now
in more like that Australian breakdancer who went viral at
the Olympic SID.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
I mean I'd watch either, or honestly, I really was.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
It's entertaining, uses music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Well, it was definitely quite the spectacle, and I get it.
Kim Kardashian is constantly looking for new ways to market
her Skims line of wardrobe, but this one didn't catch
fans real great. The clothing brand installed a sixty foot
balloon shaped like Kim in a bikini, lying down in
(22:00):
the middle of New York City's Times Square yesterday. The
installation celebrating her new swimwear collection. It was a very
busty balloon, we'll say, identical to the one you'll see
Kim wearing in a recent photo shoot for the brand.
The doll's arms are placed over her head and then
underneath is a blue deck with skims the logo on it.
(22:20):
A lot online calling the balloon terrifying and joking onlookers
should run for their lives, with one commenter writing, Kim's
doll looks embarrassed to be there.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Oh, it's something, it's something.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
You want to make the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade just
take on a whole new vibe. This is what you do.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
You think they want this vibe?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
But the picture is up with some of my personal
favorite comments at West Michigan Star dot com. I have
somewhat of an update on the Gene Hackman investigation. Mystery
continues around the deaths of jeane Is wife Betsy, and
one of their pups, who were found de ceased in
their sand Feane, New Mexico home last week. Now, a
(23:03):
lot of people are saying since the toxicology reports came
back to some of them and saw carbon monoxide poisoning
is not a cause of death. There is one emmy
who is not officially.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
On this case.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
He's the chief emmy with the Connecticut Office of the
Chief Medical Examiner and said from initial circumstances, this does
not look like a potential murder suicide that a lot
of people are starting to think may have been the problem.
He tells People Magazine. It seems like Gene may have collapsed.
Usually in a murder suicide situation, you'd be together in
(23:38):
some way, whether it's together in bed or at least
in the same room. For their bodies to have been
found in two separate locations tells me that's very less likely.
Gene has had a history of heart disease. He has
a pacemaker, so that would not be unusual. The fact
that he's ambulatory, I think is important too, because sometimes
we'll see instances where someone is bedridden and maybe they
have dementia, and then their caregiver from a natural event,
(24:01):
and then there's no one to take care of them,
and then they die from dehydration or what have you.
I don't believe that's the case here either, But we
really have to continue to wait because a lot of
the rumors going around just don't make sense for this
cause of dove.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
I mean, it's it's sad no matter what.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Happened there, but so all the ways that you can pass.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Same time.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Gee, finally you are going to see this everywhere. A
shocking video posted to TikTok showing the moment a couple
abandoned to their kid to go on a ride at Disneyland.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Have you seen this yet?
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Tick talker Keisha four Rank, who is a mom of
three herself, was at the park in California last month
when she noticed an unattended stroller parked by the guardians
of the Galaxy ride. She started filming and then was
stunned when she saw a movement beneath a spider Man
blanket draped over the stroller. Oh my god, there's a
baby in there.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
Party baby here.
Speaker 9 (25:00):
Stroller wanted let you go get a ride.
Speaker 6 (25:03):
That's stroller right there, and there is a baby in
there the sea and somebody's canters in there and their
parents walked into guardians and they have not been back yet.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Yeah, she said.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
She eventually flagged down a Disney character and was like,
there is an undattended child in that stroller, who then
got security. It's being reported that the parents were actually
pulled off the ride. Not sure if police were involved
here or not, and Disney has not yet commented on this,
but the video is going everywhere today.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Two thoughts. One, did they just leave the baby while
they got in line, because I just did that. Guardians
of the Galaxy Ride when we were in Florida, it
was two hours.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Now, that's what this mom is saying.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
She said, I wouldn't even let my eleven year old
use a bathroom by himself a Disney World.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
My mouth is on the floor.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
The second thing is, are we sure the parents aren't Norwegian?
Because in Norway their families were just leaving their kids
outside unintended and going in and handling business.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
This is America. Yeah, I've got the video for you.
You can see for yourself with your scoop at West
Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
It's Smack and Schmitty and we are looking to get
you in for all the action that's roll into Van Angelarina. Actually,
I'm wondering if we're going to see some trucks start
pilot in there tonight when you're at the Rise game, Schmitt,
I bet you afterwards you're probably starting to see some
of the Monster Jam trucks starting to roll in there.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Honestly, I want to see the sand in the dirt.
Oh yeah, I'm so enamored with how they're able to
do that. It's going to be so much fun, you guys,
Friday to Sunday taking over Vanandel. We've got your tickets
right now with Battle of the Sexes. We've got one
hundred women surveyed. Name a room that.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Home buyers look at the most closely when house hunting.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Oh, the room I'm looking at mostly, you know, the bathrooms.
I feel like that was an overlooked thing when we
were looking at our house, because we've got four bathrooms
in our home and all of them are terrible.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
No, one great bathroom in my house.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
You and your spouse rebuild a bathroom from the stuff
it's up, and a guarantee you will look at every
single bathroom when you house hunt for the rest of
your life.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven.
One hundred women surveyed. Name a room home.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Buyers look at the most closely when house hunting. You
got that number one answer. You are going to Monster
Jam with Star Win.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Oh five one seven, Good morning, Star.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
Who's this's Tracy?
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Hey to Racy. Where are you at this morning?
Speaker 9 (27:24):
I think that man dropping my husband off because we
moved and it's been a hassle and he's been overly
tired lately.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
So well, let's you know, let's turn things around. Let's
brighten it up a little bit and get you some
Monster Jam tickets. Tracy just got to tell me. When
a hundred men were asked to name a room, home
buyers inspect most closely when touring a house. What do
you think? The top answer was, Tracy, the kitchen, you said.
You got that out of your mouth real fast. Why
(27:53):
do you think the kitchen?
Speaker 9 (27:53):
Because you do a lot of cooking and for the
family in the kitchen, I mean moms and dads both
do so. I mean, if the kitchen doesn't look nice.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
It's nice.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
It's the town square of the home. It's where we
all gather. It feels like and that's why kitchen's the
top answer. Wait to go, it's Tracy.
Speaker 9 (28:14):
Makes longs to him. That gets like crazy for my husband.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Uh, well, he's gonna be going to see those big
trucks kicking up dirt and making a whole lot.
Speaker 9 (28:24):
I'm the most excited because he's been wanting to see
the big trucks too.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Oh perfect, Well, they're all going to have a blast
and it's all because you nailed it today, Tracy. But
we're not done with these Monster Jam tickets. More Chances
to win Your final Chances to win eight fifteen again
tomorrow here on startin on five point seven, selling a
five point seven good morning to you. It's back and schmidty,
and let's talk about tipping real quick, schmidty, and in
(28:50):
a very specific form of it too, because I know
that most people at this point are just sick and
tired of being asked to tip everywhere, at all times
for anything. Yeah, and so a lot of people, include myself,
have put up, you know, walls like I am a
very pro tip person. I worked in the service industry
for years and years and years. I've survived on tips,
so I understand I consider myself a good tipper. That
(29:12):
being said, I don't think that every job that asked
for a tip now needs one, specifically cashiers.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I've actually never even heard of that.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Well, I'm talking about like so you go to in
this case, I'm going to talk about it. It's I'm
at Qdoba, like a fast service restaurant. All of those
asked for tips, like whether it's Jimmy John Subway.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Oh, I do tip there?
Speaker 2 (29:31):
See you do tip there? See I no longer do.
I used to. During the pandemic, I tipped there like crazy.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I worked Jimmy John's and tips in college were huge
for me.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Fair enough, yeah, fair enough, but by and large, if
you do not, I have made it a rule now
in my life, if you do not bring me the
food or do something beyond the normal duties of your job,
I do not tip anymore. I'm over it. I have said,
I've drawn my line in the sand. So what happened
If somebody strikes up a conversation with me, SCHMIDDI, all
of my defenses and strong attitude that I just gave
(30:01):
to you right there, it flies right out the window
and it doesn't even take anything. My wife called me
out on this. We're through, you know, you go through
q DO, but they go through the line. We get
to the end and it's the cashier. Now, this is
not the person who has put the extra walk. But
she's not this case, she is not.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
She is they.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
It is a finely tuned Henry Ford would be proud
of you.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
You're making any of the food. You're not gonna take
peck No.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
I'm not tempeter and even the people who did make
the food. You're a cook. That's what you get paid.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Well, let's keep it going. What happened?
Speaker 2 (30:33):
So she goes how's it going today? And I said
out fantastic, how are you? And she goes, I'm having
a really good day. Thank you for asking. Not a
lot of people do I appreciate that. Let's go, So
she says and she's like, man, are you liking the
warmer temperatures? And I said absolutely, and I'm tired of
the mud everywhere. But at the same time, whatever gets
this to sixty faster, I'm just ready for spring. And
(30:55):
like this very innocuous means nothing conversation. It is nothing,
there's nothing, and we get to the end and boom,
there's that tip thing and what do I do? I
go on, like three three fifty three, here's what you
gotta do, and my wife goes, hey, mister nido't do anybody.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
As soon as she starts though, wow, thanks for asking.
That's when you begin your walkaway and you go have
a good one and you're done, because otherwise it's exactly
it's just having a kind conversation because trying to pay.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Her cable bill or something.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
So let's make it the extreme. Then, schmiddy, you're at
the grocery store, because I have actually been to a
smaller grocery store that does ask if you would like
to leave a tip? But I don't know who would
ever tip because it's a cashier at a grocery store.
At least people don't get in if they had a
conversation with you and then it flipped around and said
would you like to leave something for your cashier? Would
(31:45):
you feel any type of way?
Speaker 4 (31:47):
I believe in karma, and honestly I can use all
the godly brownie points I can, so yes, yes.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Do you feel obligated to tip if you have a
friendly conversation with a person who while you're checking out?
We've got this up on Facebook. Join us right now
at West Michigan.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Star sometime because I'd get a good feeling.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Ye start one on five point Chevin. I'm always looking
to turn your day up a little bit with some positivity,
with feeling good. Right now? What's happened to many? Well?
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Four years old and she has really mastered the art
of fun.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Dalia Swansin has spent five weeks receiving inpatient care at
Mary Free Bed. But you might not think of it
as a hospital because Dahlia turned her hallways into playgrounds,
therapy into adventure, and her caregivers into friends. Her dad
Brandon said, it's been amazing to see how receptive everyone's
been to her, her antics and her silliness. Four year
(32:43):
Oldallia not a complete stranger to an inpatient day. She
received outpatient therapy for a year and a half before
having a major surgery at two years old. Dahlia's parents
got the news from a doctor that they were suspicious of.
Dahlia has cerebral palsy, condition that affects how she moves
and controls her muscles. She's back with more care at
(33:03):
Mary Freebud and the doctors, nurses and staff absolutely adore her.
Dollia would make jokes with the staff. She even got
to take a field trip last month to watch the
junior sled Wings and the Griffins play hockey. Trying out
to sled herself. Sat down with Teresa weekly a Wood
TV point nine. How much better she is than her dad?
Speaker 9 (33:24):
Did your dad tap a couple of times.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
On giving back.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
The picture? Oh did you okay?
Speaker 4 (33:38):
There was my dad struggling, so I took a picture.
Dollia fell in love with photography. In fact, she got
her own junior photography staff badge at Mary freebad This
little girl is just a ball of sunshine. In fact,
her therapists say they're going to miss everything about Dolia
because everything is just so much more fun when she
(33:59):
is around. For Dahlia's long term goal, she is one
day going to walk by herself.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Very very cute girl. I just had to shout out,
Dahlia big time.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
That's beautiful and it's awesome when you see, you know,
hospitals and rehabilitation centers like that going above and beyond
to make kids' lives and their family's lives better. Let's
continue with that trend because it's ten year old Ava Cooper,
who was born back in twenty fourteen with several heart defects,
actually had her first open heart surgery, which she was
only six days old. Later wound up needed to be
(34:29):
put on the heart transplant list. Well recently, she had
actually had to spend more than two hundred days at
the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital in Ohio waiting for a
heart donor, and in February, Ava was instead thinking about,
you know, being a ten year old girl and wanting
to go to a beloved father daughter dance at school,
but she couldn't this year. But back on February twelve,
(34:52):
the hospital decided they were going to make that father
daughter dance happen for young Ava, so they decorated a room,
turned it into a Dan Talk crsage in hand, her
dad Sean waiting for Ava outside of the room to
take her to her very own personal ball. The caregivers,
who become more like family for the family, greeted her
with a round of applause as she entered the Valentines
(35:14):
decorated dance. Really really sweet video is going viray. She
and her dad yet to dance to a curated playlist
of her favorite songs by put together by one of
the music therapists from the hospital, and her dad Sean
(35:35):
just saying it was an unforgettable experience. We can't thank
Ava's care team and everyone involved enough for making this
such a special dance. I'm grateful to be a girl dad.
It means being inspired to always be that up, very cute,
big time as a dad who's got my own father
daughter dance coming up to hit me right in the
fields and it will for you to put the video
up for you West Michigan Star dot com and always
(35:57):
here to brighten your day a little bit with feeling good,
We'll do it tomorrow, six forty five and nine twenty
