Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me laugh.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
I of it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Well, good morning, Schmitty, Good morning, Welcome into your Wednesday.
Out there, Tepter, you're hanging out right about freezing right now.
We'll see him and get up close to fifty degrees
around West Michigan today with mostly cloudy's guy's sun breaking
through from time to time. But you know what, we're
not allowed to complain about the weather right now, because
you know what, every day that I'm seen not in
the thirty SCHMITTI I'm enjoying it right now.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
I mean last night it was gunshot or fireworks. So
we're officially in spring.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
You guys. I don't know how there's.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Any other you know, I'm living in a little bit
more rural area these days, so I'm not sure what
I heard. But someone was having a great time in
taking full advantage of the fact that it's a lot
warmer than.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
It has fun.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
They were having a heck of a Tuesday, thanks for sure.
You know. I got out for my first bike ride
yesterday and that was glorious, and it also reminded me
that it's been a while since I had exercised in
any sort of intense way. I think that basically also
came along with the snow this year. So if you're
getting back into the spring things, well I'm ready for
(01:10):
it too. But yeah, some things come easier than others.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Well, this is just such a wild story. I felt
like I had to do it. Have you ever watched
Ghost Adventures that Zach Baggins and Aaron Goodwin and alive?
Speaker 6 (01:29):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I was a huge fan of the show.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Well, Aaron's wife, Victoria Goodwin, has been arrested in a
plan to have her husband murdered.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
To get out of her marriage. New details have come
out today.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
She allegedly enlisted a prisoner named Grant a Motto to
help see the plan through. So the latest we know.
Cops say Victoria told them she first learned about this
inmate in a true crime doc she'd watched, and then
became pen pals with him while he was behind bars.
Please say, Victoria told a Motto she wanted to kill
(02:03):
Erin and then provided information about his location set times
in California, where he would be filming Ghost Adventures with
Zach Baggin's top said. Aaron's wife set aside almost twelve
thousand dollars to pay the alleged hitman, and Amano messaged
someone about the plot, with text messages showing him asking
is he asleep right now in the hotel room? I
(02:24):
need to know what's going on? Can I have an
update now? Thankfully the murder did not happen. Victoria was
arrested last week, charged with solicitation to commit murder and
conspiracy to commit murder. Meanwhile, Aaron said he is completely
blind sided by this and he's now getting court ordered protection.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Isn't wild.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It is absolute insanity. I mean it's She's on.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Record saying, do you think I'm a bad person for
not just divorcing him?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's what I was like. That's hey, yeah, you ye,
not hear about what happens to fifty percent of marriages.
Man like to divorce, U say?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
A former US Department of Justice pardon attorney is alleging
she was fired last week for refusing to reinstate mel
Gibson's gun rights. Another very interesting story this morning, Elizabeth
g Oyer is her name. She says two weeks ago
she was put on a group tasked with restoring gun
rates for convicted individuals, but when asked to add Mel, who,
(03:24):
if you didn't know, lost his rights after that twenty
eleven domestic violence violence conviction, she voted no. The Times
is the first to report on this. She told them
Deputy Attorney General's office compiled the list of nine people
eligible for restored gun rates. When Oyer submitted her draft
memo for her recommendations, two senior Justice Department officials sent
(03:46):
it back asked her to add Mel. She responded that
she could not do that. She said that, suddenly standing
her ground, they pushed even harder.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
She says.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Gipson's close ties to President Trump as a Special Ambassador
to Hollywood meant she needed to do this and it
was the smartest move. Again, this is all according to her.
When she said once again she wouldn't, she was fired.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I mean I was as soon as you brought it up,
the Special Ambassador to Hollywood. I was like, yeah, they're
not really playing kindly with anybody who's joining the administration,
taking any sort of flag from anybody.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Right now, Speaking of the administration, another celebrity that almost
worked for the administration non other than Barstool's CEO and
founder Dave Portenoy, who claims he was recently offered a
role in DC so on his podcast, he's talking about
how interesting it is that Elon Musk is the CEO
of Tesla, as well as being at the forefront of
(04:47):
all this doge work that they're doing. Think he personally
was told he would not be able to do that.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
I got a call, I don't know, a couple months ago.
I don't know when I got the call, and it
was like, hey, when you have any interest, Dave in
joining the Department of Commerce Commerce secretary under Lupnik or
the guy working under him. And they're like, but a
caveat of joining the government is somebody would have to
run barstool.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
You can't run barstool and work for the government. I mean,
I guess Elon.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
Doesn't have a specific title, but you kind of want
your CEO with the eye on the ball, right. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
There's been a lot of commentary about this, especially after
a lot of people say it looked like a commercial
the other day at the White House with President Trump
boasting about the Tesla when Tesla Stock has been absolutely
plummeting the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
So it's a very interesting take.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
You know what I heard in that whole thing that
Dave FORTINOI at Bart's Stool Sports Love's uh huh and
take on me back. I'm like, maybe he's listening to
Star on the iHeart Radio Lab.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
I don't know, all right, all of your celeb scoop
at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Com sometime does not get a good feeling.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Stelling a fine points. Yeah, and it's back and feeling
good right now. And there's a bride to be that's
feeling fantastic as her big day just got a nice
little bonus, and it's all because of social media, of course.
Cartly Bernetto. She's a Charleston, South Carolina bride to be.
Her wedding is next month, and it was just a
couple of weeks ago that she found out that her
(06:19):
dream reception dress, the order that she had placed, actually
got canceled just weeks before the big day. She shared
her disappointment in a TikTok video that wound up going
viral because she was hoping that somebody might actually help
her find this same dress after she scoured the internet
hoping that she could locate it somewhere else. He got
about five million views, including one from fashion influencer Madeline
(06:44):
White Schmidty, who is all the way across the pond.
But Madeleine saw the video and actually realized, hey, wait
a second, I'm pretty sure I have that dress in
my closet right now. So she actually put together a
little care package and sent it off to the bride's bee.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Have I have this little mock Jacob's bag with a
both few and then I put some of the little
bits in as well.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I'm gonna put that in whin of you'd be good
with your new mom.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yes, you shared this heartfelt note that went along with it.
That video has been viewed over fifteen million times at
this point. And Brnetto, who's set to get married in
late April and South Carolina, got her wedding saved from
somebody on the other side of the ocean, which I
think is pretty sweet.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Everything sounds fancier and.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
British, it really does.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
It's true, all right, I've got your first stop when
the weather gets truly warm enough to take a dip,
and that is Saugatuck because Oval Beach was just named
one of America's twenty five best beaches. We're talking the
entire country, the Saga Tuck Park coming in at number
twenty four on the list.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
It's all about.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Fine sand and scenic views trip Advisor rights.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I think this is especially impressive.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Oval Beach was the only Great Lakes beach to make
the cut, which is kind of a big deal in
your thinking. Traverse City and some of the stuff up
North Florida led the list, and Siesta Beach in CSD
Key did top the list. But we all know, pure
Michigan moment, we don't have sharks. So Oval Beach is
number one on my list, and a big congratulations because
I know there's a lot of volunteer work into keeping it.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So beautiful over there.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I'm so ready for beach day, yes one hundred. Feeling
good coming at you a couple times a day. I
always looking at live and things up. Let's do it
again for you this morning at nine twenty.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Well, it seems like the guy just cannot catch a break.
It's a devastating setback for Tiger Woods. The golf ledgend
just announced.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
He tore his achilles.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
The forty nine year old made a statement yesterday suffered
the ailment while he was training for the upcoming PGA
Tour at his Florida home. He did say it was
his left leg that gave out on him, not the
right one that was really injured during that infamous twenty
twenty one rollover crash. Woods added he did undergo minimally
invasive surgery to fix the issue yesterday morning, doctors deemed
(09:05):
it successful. He says he expects a full recovery and
is already back home recovering, thanking fans for the support,
still training and hoping for that comeback. But I thought
this was kind of wild because I hadn't really thought
of it. He's needed surgery every year since his twenty
twenty one accident, including that serious back surgery last year.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah, it wasn't like he wasn't having back issues before
some of that too. I mean, you're right, the injuries
keep stacking up for the guy.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
It seems like we may have some drama behind the
scenes of the highly anticipated live action Snow White from
Disney They've got a Hollywood premiere planned coming up in
just three days, but it is not going to look
like most of the other premieres. Sources have said, it's
not going to be a very robust red carpet. They're
(09:53):
going to have a small pre party and a screening
at the Al Capitan Theater Rachel Zegler and Galgadote, who
will be there plays the evil Queen. However, the dozens
of media outlets usually invited are not. It's going to
be limited to coverage by photographers only and their only
house crew. A lot of fans are wondering if this
stems from some of the behind the scenes drama. You'll
(10:15):
remember when Rachel Zegler was announced as snow White a
couple of years ago, there was a ton of backlash
about snow White being played by a Latina actor. At
one point, Segler did an interview saying, I'm not going
to be saved by any prints. I'm going to be
dreaming about becoming the leader I know I can be.
Not true love. Peter Dinkledge spoke out about the movie's
(10:36):
portrayal of little people perpetuating negative stereotypes. There's even been
very little promotion done about the film. I mean, have
you seen a whole ton of commercials before, like the
last week.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
The only publicity I've seen for this movie has been
sort of negative publicity that is stemmed from that very
shame drama you're talking about.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
H Galgadote has been very open about the Israel Hamam situation.
So it kind of sounds like Disney is so nervous
They're like, Okay, we'll just have the premiere. The movie
hits theaters on Friday.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Here we go, I mean snow White. Unfortunately, Snow White
is one of the original huge movies.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah, thirty seven, I think Friday.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, for Disney Show. It's kind of wild to think
that this remake of what should be something that's celebrated
by multiple generations, multiple people, is getting this much negativity
connected to it. People need to settle down a little
bit not worry about some of those details.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I feel like, all right, so this is either going
to make you feel old or maybe make you cringe
a little bit, just depends. Harry Potter star Jesse Cave,
you would know her as Lavender Brown Run's little girlfriend
I think in the fifth movie, has announced she's joining
only fans not sure if this is going to be
magical or wizard themed, but she did make the announcement
(11:55):
on her Instagram saying that it will definitely have some.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Hair fetish to it.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Oh God, She's excited to show the pure aesthetic she
is going for. She opened up about her decision, thing
she needs to pay off some debt, revamp her home,
and show all those who've misjudged her over the years
that she's far from just sweet.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Look out for those girls from Raven Splash.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Midti like, not sure how I feel about it. I'll
be honest. All of your celeb scoop at West Michigan.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Start come onrning to you. It's back in Schmidty and
you deshined to dive into the black hole that is
the trunk of your car.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Schmide right, the whole car.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
This was really bad. My problem has always been my trunk.
If you're new to the show. I said this to
my husband the other day. I feel like every aspect
of my life is very organized, and for some reason,
my car is just my like space.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I can't it's kind.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Of I think out of sight, out of mind, because
it's never my driver's seat or passenger seat. But everything
behind me that I can't see is a nightmare. And
so you all heard about my flat tire last week
and how I had to move a bunch of stuff
out of my trunk so that people could get to
my spare tire. So on Sunday, the weather was so nice,
pulled my car to the garage and my husband's like, Babe,
(13:14):
it's time we have got to tackle this.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Like this is so bad. I'm like, you know, I don't. Yeah,
it's not that it was that bad.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I will actually admit that I am embarrassed at how
bad I let it get this time. So Chris pulls
his giant wood shopping shop back out of the garage.
There was so much to suck upright, Like I'm finding
dog coats we hadn't seen in years, my black pencil
skirt that I lost in twenty twenty two.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
In my trunk. We found a yoga mat.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Don't I remember the last I went time, Last time
I went to yoga, all of these things. He's like,
you have got to figure out how to keep your
car cleaner. But it was it was came a whole
up a piece of paper and going this is absurd
and I was like what, and he goes, this is
a receipt from Chowhound from twenty sixteen. I was like why,
(14:14):
and he goes, hey, we had zero kids and only
one dog.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
And I was like on and he goes, this is no.
This is the line.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
I said, that is pretty embarrassing. I RaSE twenty sixteen.
We didn't even have Buela on twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
I only had Toby.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
I wish you had turned to him and go, wait
a second, you don't remember the trip to Chowhound of
twenty sixty.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
But then it was stunned because I was like, I've
cleaned out my car before.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
He's like, no, you have not, not like this.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
He goes, there is an excavation journey underneath your seats,
like there's so much there. So anyway, my car is now, Christine,
the receipt has been thrown away because I will never
confess to that again. And I figured, man, I cannot
be the only one that is found this disgustingly old stuff.
(15:02):
When I've cleaned whatever it is, your car, your house,
a storage unit, you have found old stuff that you
definitely shouldn't have still been hanging on too.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Well, this one is actually very strange. And and when
you first did this, I was thinking about like treasure
hunting in my head. I was like, oh, you know,
you're cleaning out something that hasn't been touched in a
long time. When my great grandmother passed away, we my
brother and I flew out to Massachusetts to clean out
this cottage that's been in our family since like the
nineteen fifties, and inside it SHIMINNI. This is so gross.
(15:31):
But if you google this, it's a thing. We found
my uncle's lamp that is made out of the skin
of a camel's nether regions, if you will.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
It's interesting thing to happen.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
He got it while he was traveling through Europe in
the nineteen sixties. He brought it back and it wound
up sitting in our.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Cottage, made through customs.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Honestly, look, it's insane, like, but if you google these, like,
you know, camel testing lamp, it's I'm just saying, it
is a weird lamp thing. Two hundred and eighty bucks.
I'm seeing these things going for apparently this is a
whole thing. But my dad had to go, oh, do
you know what that is? Like, it's a lamp and
he goes, no, it's not any lamp. What do you
(16:14):
think that lamp's made out of? And I'm like, I
don't know, glass paper. He goes, oh, no, buddy, I
got a story for you.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
So interesting.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Because Melissa wrote on our Facebook she found a washboard
from the nineteen hundreds, I was like, girl, you need
to get to antique.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Road show that kind of stuff.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
When you find, like it's not a chowhound receipt from
twenty sixteen, that might actually be something.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
That's just sentimental value on the chowhound receipt.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Ooh, Amanda found a canned good in her parents' cover
that expired before her oldest was born in two thousand
and one. I there is an entire side of TikTok
of kids that go home like for holidays that will
search through their parents' coverards and it is stunning at
what they find.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Abby on Facebook saying I found a pregnancy ziplock bag
in my purse from when I was at the doctor's
office and found out I was pregnant twelve years ago.
Please tell me that was a purse that was just
sitting in the closet somewhere. You know you haven't been
using every single day.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
For twelve years.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
I've been if I looked at my I'm not ready
for my purse, you guys, mentally and emotionally, I just
did my car.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
I am not ready for my purse.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I'm stilling a fine points, shoving it's back and Smitty
always owning our parenting fails each and every Wednesday. It's a.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Ooh, I feel bad. So you guys need to know
our kids' school. Will School is pretty much in our neighborhood.
Like they've done a really cute job of putting this
little sidewalk off to the side so the kids could
walk to and from school without actually having to go
on a busy street. But since we've been in winter,
it's just far enough that it's like a good ten
(17:51):
minute walk, and it's been so cold, we've all been
driving and there's a big crew of us now that
I'll kind of show up at the same time to
pick up the kids. And yesterday I'm gonna be honest
with you, guys, I wanted to I want it. I
needed to nap, and that extra ten minutes where you
don't have to walk you can just jump in your
car is worth it. It makes a difference. I don't
(18:12):
care what you say makes a difference. So I showed
up to pick up yesterday in my car, and everyone
else had walked, you know, because it was beautiful out
and they're not lazy.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
And so we're walking out and Will's like, mom or
we walk in.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
I said, no, I drove today, buddy, and he goes, what, Oh,
all right, bye, guys, I can't walk with you today
because my mom drove.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Everybody like turns around. I was like, it was ten
minutes of an extra part of my nap.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
So he walked home with everybody else, while my lazy
behind got in my car waved from my window as
I drove home. Let me tell you, guys, I don't
care if it drops back to like ten degrees for
one last snowfall, I will be in a snowsuit walking
to his school. So I never for ever get called
out in that embarrassing way again.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Hey, Will, where's your mom? Oh? She's driving slowly behind
us with her hazards on. I want to walk today.
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Oh, isn't It's so great? I'm a great mom.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Well, I know fans have been talking quite a bit
about George Clooney's new look and that freshly dyed brown hair.
He was seen out to lunch with his wife Amaal
Clooney the other day, with fans kind of gasping.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Like, where did our silver stallion go?
Speaker 4 (19:44):
It is dyed like dark brown, as we've learned, it's
for a role in a new Broadway show. Clooney is
in an adaptation of the two thousand and five film
uh seven, and he said that unfortunately his wife also
hates the look. Talking with People Magazine, he said both
(20:05):
the mall and his twins Alexander and Ella, are like
He said, I promise I only have to have this
look for a few weeks and then I go back
to my iconic stallion self. So if you were worried,
then maybe who's having a bit of a midlife crisis
just for Broadway?
Speaker 1 (20:22):
You know, as long as he's still getting a cut
by the flowby Schmitty's still doing that perfectly fine.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I love this.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
So if you've seen the movie eight Mile with eminem
you know that classic rap battle between him and Papa doc,
who is played by Anthony Mackie, who you would know
from Marvel Famed Well. Anthony Mackie is on the podcast
the latest episode of the Pivot and said all of
(20:49):
those lines about him were true. So if you miss
the part I'm talking about, this guy's a thanks.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
He's real master with the whole the close parents, Clarence
parents have a real good marriage.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
Anthony said he was absolutely dumb struck when they were
filming the scenes and he's like, he's actually talking about me.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
This is really mean.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
Like we're doing the movie and you know, Eminem is
just such a brilliant dude. We're on set one day
and he's like, yo, it don't make sense that we beefing.
I was like right, he was like I need something
like on you. So we're talking. We talked for like
two hours, like chilling. I'm like, all right, man, I
see you later. I go to the casino. The next
day we're shooting the battle scene and that's why I'm
standing there like you're talking about me. You're not talking
(21:36):
about Clarence. There's nothing to do with the character.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Why you holding my like this.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
I'm like, I won't mother.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
I'm like, yes, my parents are still married.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Isn't that hysterical, Clarence, He has a real good marriage.
The entire thing was actually about Anthony's life that eminem
all pulled from them just hanging out together for two hours.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
How fun to look back at it now and be like,
you know you were actually battling against Captain America at
that time. You just didn't know it yet.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Where it's his parents have a real good parents nanty,
It's like they do there. It's such a strong household.
I went to Cranbrook finally. Wheel of Fortune's Vana White
just got her first ever tattoo. Now this is not
a midlife crisis either. Her daughter is actually a very
(22:31):
well known and respected tattoo artist. Banna posted to Instagram
talking about her nerves, but she went to the tattoo
parlor and got her first ever so too.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
I think that's it. But where do you want me?
Speaker 6 (22:44):
I don't know if I can watch?
Speaker 8 (22:46):
Yeah, I shouldn't want to try.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
You didn't, I might pass out.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Okay, this is it, here we go.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
This is so I've been wanting to do this for
a long time. I really have.
Speaker 7 (22:58):
I'm so happy.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I was super happy.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, it was really cute.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
That's her daughter, Gigi, So I wonder if she will
be debuting that in an upcoming episode of Wheel.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
What'd she get and where'd she get it?
Speaker 2 (23:08):
She got a little heart on her wrist.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Actually, and that's interesting. That's a big thing too, because
you can see.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Those when she's moving.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Point them out all of your celeb scoop at West
Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Let's do this, Mac and Schmidty, and it's time for
Battle of the Sexes and your shot to actually get
out tonight and go cheer on our Grand Rapids Griffins
for a winning Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah, if you can make it.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Puck hits the ice at seven one hundred men surveyed.
Name a fairy tale character who appears in Shrek. Oh,
there's a ton of them, right, that's like all the
character would be hard.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Yeah, Donkey. It's not Donkey because I can't think of
anything where it's like specifically Donkey is part of a fairytale, right.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
I feel like whatever you say is going to say
a lot about your personality, but we're not gonna judge
it for it six one, six, four, five, eight one
oh five seven collars seven. We're looking for the number
one answer. One hundred men surveyed name a fairy tale
character who appears in Shrek and you were headed to
winning Wednesday with our Grand Rabbits Griffins Tonight on Star,
(24:10):
Good Morning Star.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Who's this from wall? We're calling for the war against.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yeah, battle of this sex is all right, let's see
if we can get your tickets for tonight's Griffins game.
You gotta tell me. One hundred guys were asked to
name a fairy tale character who appears in Shrek.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
Uh, the gingerbread Man.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
The gingerbread Man. Yeah, Gingy's in there for sure, But
that's the number four answer. Guys. I'm sorry, thank you,
thank you. Hi Star. Who's this Hi Mandy? I just
got a great guest. When one hundred guys were asked
to name a fairy tale character who makes an appearance
in the Shrek movies, and just her gingerbread man, who
(24:51):
of course is in there, but he was the number
four most common answer. So what do you think it is?
Speaker 7 (24:56):
We're thinking snow white.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
You're thinking snow oh white. Yeah, they've definitely made an appearance,
but not on the list. I'm really sorry, thank you,
thank you, bye, Hi Star. Who's this?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Hey, Sarah.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
I've got a couple of good guesses, but not the
top answer yet. When one hundred guys were asked to
name a fairy tale character who appears in the movie Shrek,
so far, I've heard the gingerbread man, which was the
number four most common answer, and snow White was just guessed,
which is not on the list here, So what do
you think it is? What ogre? No, I'm sorry, it's
not over. Say, hi Star. Who's this Claire? Claire? How
(25:34):
old are you? I'm nine, Claire. How many times would
you say you've seen the Shrek movies?
Speaker 7 (25:39):
What?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
What? How many times would you say you've seen the
Shrek movies? Claire?
Speaker 4 (25:44):
Oh, probably like four?
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Probably four times. Well, there is four Shrek movies, so
that covers at least all of them once. You should
do pretty good at this one. One hundred guys have
been asked to name a fairy tale character who appears
in the Shrek movies, and so far I heard the
gingerbread man, who's in there? But that was the number
four answer. I heard snow White, who was not on
the list, and I heard an ogre and of course,
(26:05):
Shrek's an ogre, but that is not the fairy tale
character they were looking for. That's not on the list either.
So what do you think it is? Pinocchio? You think
it's Pinocchio, who definitely hangs out of the enchanted forest
right there with Shrek and Donkey and the whole crew.
Pinocchio's the top answer. Way to go, congratulation. Yeah, Claire,
(26:28):
you won tickets to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Nic Are
you excited? Yeah, hick, Yeah, You're gonna get out and
go have some fun and roote on our Griffins. Okay, Hi,
all right, well done. By the way, it was Pinocchio,
then Pussing Boots, tinker Bell, and the gingerbread Man, rounding
out those top four answers. Lots of fairytale characters, of course,
(26:49):
some Shrek. Way to go, Claire on getting it done.
We'll do it again tomorrow, though, more chances to win
eight to fifteen with Battle of the Sexes here on stock.
Good morning to you. It's my and Schmitty. Help your
weeks off to a great start as we hit that
halfway point. But you know, Schmitty, every once in a while,
we all need to unwind in our own space. We
(27:09):
need to meditate a little bit. But that looks really different. Like,
I know way more people who would say that they
have their own personal brand of meditation than people who
actually meditate that I know, do you ever meditate, like
just just.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Do a real meda No, I've never actually done that.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I cannot cross my legs in a way that anyone
would consider real.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, without really paying for it.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Then I'm not lost in my thoughts. I'm just thinking
about how much my button my back hurt the whole time. Yeah,
But like a lot of people, I have my own
ways that I use for meditation, mostly exercise, Like I
take my walks every day and I can get lost
into those and cleaning, and I think those are two
really common ways that people sort of just go into
their own zone. My question for you is is do
(27:55):
you often find yourself what you would maybe consider escaping
while driving? Because because yesterday, I don't think that I
was conscious between Lansing and exit fifty two, Exit fifty
two for Lowell, for that entire forty five minute stretch terrifying.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Isn't it a little bit?
Speaker 4 (28:17):
You're like, did I kill someone? I like, I can
tell you booitness for the rumble strips. Yeah, yeah, I
got as I've never done it on an expressway. I
got to tell you, there's been a couple of times
where I've like driven home and been like, oh, why
do I not really remember red lights?
Speaker 1 (28:32):
But the crazy thing was I was leaving Detroit. I
was coming out of a funeral, so obviously, you know
you're thinking about all the biggest thoughts in the world
when you're doing something like that. But I'm coming and
I'm listening to one of our iHeart radio stations out
of Detroit as I come across the state, and when
the signal faded, I just I turned the radio down
for a second. I never turned it back up again.
(28:52):
I rode for a solid fifty minutes straight in complete silence,
absolutely dead to the world's driven. Just I mean, must
have been driving fine. But when I got off on
that exit of fifty two, because my GPS just decided, like,
you're one mile away from this sexit, I'm like, oh,
dear God, maybe you need where I was awake.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
It was so odd, just because it was one of
those moments where you close your you know, you don't
close your eyes, but you blink and then you're there
and you go, where did the last forty five minutes go?
Speaker 4 (29:21):
So I'm more focused when I turn my music off,
because that is what I do if I'm in a
stressful like if I'm driving home from work and it's
been a rough day. Everything is off in my car
and I am hyper focused and just.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Woof, I need to get rid of of.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
All that for a minute, hands on the wheel. Do
you have an interesting way that a personal way that
you like to unwind that's that's not sitting with Indian
style and super uncomfortable manner.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
I like hammicking.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
I do, but like it's like a legitimate pillow and
like a really good blanket and a book, and I
do not.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
My hammock is a no phone zone. Oh I don't like.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Even if it's just across the yard on the deck
or something, I find it to just be really relaxing
under a tree and just think like I am going
to blip in the universe and I'll be dead soon.
The dinosaurs lived three billion years ago.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
I have.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
I do not matter.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
The strangest existential thoughts just came rushing that great you
know what, and you're not going to run into anybody.
It's seventy five miles an hour run a hammock. So
I like that.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Some down does not get a good feeling.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Now, I see that sunshine trying to fight through the
clowns a little bit. Let's see, I'm brighten things up
even more. Feeling good right now and startming all fine
point seven? What you gotch Well.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
I know it's officially college spring break, and you may
have seen kids going to Puntakana or.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
The Keys or somewhere tropical.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
But for a group of students at Grace Christian University
in Grand Rapids, they stuck right here at home because
they decided to take spring break off and instead volunteer
their entire week to fix up home.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
On the southwest side. This is so cool.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
It's an amazing program that's been going on for the
past few years where students actually help ready a home
for a family in need. It's all through ICCF Community Homes.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
They do it all.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Pull out carpet, were about cabinets, make sure flooring and
sub flooring is down, talking.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Putting in windows.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
I mean they are completely redoing this home and it's
a big deal. Kyle bow Is actually the associate vice
president of Student Affairs and Athletics at Greece Christian University.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
And here's the good news.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
He tells what gen Z and gen Alpha are really
making a difference.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
When students find out that we're having a great time
listening to fun music, helping with a home demo, or
maybe doing some patchwork for drywall, students really do come
out and they enjoy it. We're seeing gen Z gen
Alpha wanting to be part of something bigger than themselves.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
This is a big deal too.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
ICCF says they have between seven and eight hundred properties
that they redo to rent or sell, and the kids
volunteering their time is a massive part of this. So
what a great program.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
I mean, especially to give up your spring break to
do it. It's just so against the grain of a
typical college student. I feel like very cool. All right, Trinny,
this is actually an update on a story you brought
to us and feeling good last month. But a Portage
man TJ. Day is his name of beloved Walgreens employee
there in Portage who had been riding his bike to
work every day for ten years but had been a
(32:29):
part of the fabric of that community. So when last
month he was struck by a vehicle in a hit
and run incident. The community really stepped up big. As
we shared with you, they raised more than twenty thousand
dollars for him to help them recover after those injuries,
as well as the hopes of getting him a new
mode of transportation. His sister Kelly welcomed TJ to their
(32:50):
home in Chicago at that time, and they were putting
a plan together to get him home back to his
community and also to make a very big purchases they
shared with wood TVA.
Speaker 8 (33:00):
Tentatively planning to bring him home this weekend and hoping
to be able to use the funds donated to get
him a car this weekend and after a few doctor's appointments,
he'll be fingers crossed and prayers answered, he will be
clear to go back to work.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
That's right, Well, that is all happening, and the big
piece of the puzzle a new car. TJ. Thanks to
all that generous donations that came in from his family
and friends and neighbors, complete strangers there in the Portage
area who saw his story and decided to help out.
He just was able to get that brand new vehicle
and now he's also, according to his sister, about to
(33:40):
head back to work at Walgreens starting next week.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Yeah, he is so loved in that community.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
And as much as he has loved, he loves the
community right back. I miss them and thank you for
the support. I really appreciate it from the bottom of
my heart. Feeling good coming at you a couple times today.
I always want to point out the positive, and we'll
do it tomorrow. Six one, twenty five and nine twenty
You're on Star
