Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake up. It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It makes me laugh. It Mac and Schmidty in the
morning on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
I got bored in, SCHMITTI, good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Welcome into your Thursday, and let the madness commence.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Schmidty.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Yeah, I feel like there's a lot of you waken
up with a little tickle in that throat this morning,
maybe a little start of a cough.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Wouldn't want to spread that around the office.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
I'm guessing that, uh, probably around ten eleven o'clock it's
really going to kick in. You might have a few
zoom or teams meetings today where your background is blurred
or no judgment here, zero judgment whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Is that the Buffalo wild Wings logo that I see
short of blurred out in your background?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Definitely not?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Ooh man.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Though, if I can give a shout out to a
local business, if you are looking for a spot to
have some off site meetings, we'll call it. Gimme's par
and Grill is going to be absolutely happened today with
the tournament. It's a really cool spot.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
You know, you're not much of a golfer, but I
know you got over there and had a lot of fun.
Did you are the bays of blast.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Base of what we did, the all sports Bay. So
but I mean beyond that, like incredible food, incredible drinks.
We just had their founder in the other day for
an interview and he was super stoked about tournament time
because there's a lot going.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
On, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Well it's over for the second time for singer Sia
pulling the plug on her marriage. She filed for divorce
singer Bee lining it to court yesterday, divorcing husband Daniel
Bernard after only twenty six months of marriage. This is
Sia's second marriage. According to court documents, she lifted yes
(01:48):
Tuesday excuse me, as the date of separation, So this
was pretty fast. Irreconcilable differences is the reason for the split.
But the big bombshell Sea secretly welcomed a baby last
year let excuse me, eleven month old Somersault Wonder. Sea's
(02:09):
asking for legal and physical custody of the child, but
is open to visitation rights for Dan. March was listed
as the birthday last year. As for spousal support, Sia
did check the box to terminate the court's ability to
award spousal support to her estranged husband.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
No word if there is a prenup here.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
You know what, it would only make sense that if
Sea were to have a child, we would never see
that baby's face.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Right, and then it would be named Somersault.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Wonder, You're awesome.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Some new information regarding the passing of snl Alum actress
and producer Aubrey Plaza's late husband, Jeff Bena, and it's
really sad stuff. Apparently the couple were separated for several
months before Jeff lost his battle. Their marital difficulties were
(02:58):
actually revealed in the mes report that was just released.
He'd been separated from his wife since September of last year.
Aubrey's husband, of course, found passed away in his La
Area home. We're learning more about that as well. The
dog walker actually showed up and found him after getting
very concerned that there was loud music coming from within
(03:18):
the house. This is where it gets really sad and
I'm sure is taking an emotional toll on Aubrey. Cops
say that Jeff had a phone conversation with Aubrey the
night before he was found dead. She also confirmed to
officers that she had been concerned he made very odd
concerning remarks back in October of last year, which actually
(03:40):
prompted Aubrey to call a friend to do a welfare check.
He had been in therapy but ended up actually sending
Aubrey a text message just hours before.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
He took his life. It's just really sad.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
It's extremely sad, and I always think it's weird, just
because Aubrey's got such a try and dark sense of
you as it is, like how difficult it is to
move on from that when that's your PERSONA.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, And I do always want to say if you
know someone struggling or in crisis, you can call her
text nine to eight eight. Finally, spoiler alert, so Turnstone
for a hot minute if you have not watched last
night's episode of The Masked Singer, because I am going
to do an unveil here, but it was very emotional.
(04:26):
The unveil, we finally discovered who Griffin.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Was Varsity Blood and does this great go on? It
only Ja Vanderberg.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yes, The legendary James Van Derbeek after performing John Denver's
Take Me Home Country Roads unveiled as Griffin and if
you did not know, he has had a very, very
tough year after being diagnosed with colorect cancer. There was
not a dry eye in that studio audience last night
(05:04):
when he talked with the panel and said, recently we
did get some news that changed everything. It has been
a really tough year, but fortunately we've been able to
face this challenge together in our home. He talks about
his family, getting very emotional himself, saying I would not
have gotten through all of this without them. They make
me smile through the tough days and are strong for
me when I sometimes can't be. They sit beside me
(05:27):
through it all. They are my safe space, They are
my home. It was a really incredible moment.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
That is really cool to see that out there.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
And you know he couldn't cover Paula Cole's I don't
want to wait or it would be a dead giveaway.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
No right away.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, I love a good John Denver, all of your
celebscoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Sometimes because I get a good feeling.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, well let's get you feeling good before your brackets
get busted. She'll only HiT's Mackachimidia and Starvano five point seven,
and this is really cool. Beer and fishing have gone
together so well for so long. With this one, well,
it's more about beer and a very specific type of fish.
Saga Tuck Brewing Company going to be starting a brand
new beer with the DNR, Yeah, the Michigan Department of
(06:11):
Nancial Resources, and it's all to come together to support
the endangered Lake sturgeon. This is really cool. Of course,
Lake sturgeon threatened species throughout the state. That's why that fishing,
that fishing window that you're allowed to fish in is
so short. What was it seventeen minutes this year that
you're allowed that the season for.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Sturgeon fishing was going on. That's how endangered they are.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
So. Patrick Berdle from the DNR told thirteen on your
Side that they got together with Saugatug Brewing and said,
how can we share the vision of protecting our natural
resources while you make a great beer and we do
our fish work. Well, that's what led to Lake Street
Light this beer in partnership with the DNR's Lake Sturgeon program.
Let's get to launch in April, with a portion of
(06:55):
those proceeds going to Lake Sturgeon Habitat restoration. Pretty cool,
calorie four percent. So I make a drink this one
all day long. It looks like but Bertle talking about
how just important the sturgeon are to Michigan's aquatic ecosystems,
and just how old this animal is and how we
should have respect for it.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
It's so cool. You can tell how passionate the guy is.
Speaker 6 (07:16):
An individual. Sturgeon in maybe Lake Michigan has been alive
since before World War two, maybe even before World War One.
I really would like to have the courage to look
them in the eyes respectfully and say, how you're back.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I just keep imagining him looking into a fish's eyes
very respectfully.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
It's sane.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
I've steen up. My husband does it every day.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
I got to your back.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
But anyway, if you would like to support this Lake
street light coming out in April, All right.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Let's get to the coolest dad out there.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Actor Dax Shepherd, going viral after a current episode of
Finding Your Roots, where he starts to talk about his
start with family and how his entire world shifted when
becoming a parent himself.
Speaker 7 (08:03):
My story prior to having kids was my father left
and I was the victim. And then about a year
and a half into having our first daughter, I realized,
oh no, he was the victim. It's so much more
powerful on this side than it was on the child side.
Being a parent is so special and meaningful. Yeah, Christian
(08:25):
would say the same thing. We've been overly lucky in life.
We've been to so many spectacular places and met spectacular people,
and this is the single experience that I would not
trade for anything in the world. This is the thing.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
It's absolutely incredible. I've got the video for you. His
interview and talking about his girls is just so powerful.
West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
All right, So, Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift may have
been keep a pretty low profile since the Super Bowl,
but it looks like the NBA could be the next
professional sports Swifties can look forward to seeing Taylor at
if you believe this interview. Yesterday, the New Heights podcast
with Travis and his brother Jason dropped with Ben Stiller
(09:17):
as a guest. A really cool story from more than
a decade ago when Taylor surprised his daughter.
Speaker 8 (09:23):
By the way, I went to a Knicks game with Taylor.
She was there like this was like ten years ago
and I was there with my son and she literally
we facetimed my daughter, who's a huge she's twenty three now,
and we had the best time.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
She was incredible. Oh yeah, I appreciate that. I think
the same thing. So it's perfect. Yeah, and maybe we
can get Taylor to another MIX game.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
That really excited Ben, who by the way, is court
side for almost every single game, and said, yes, yes,
I can get you in b My Plus two's Jason
also happens to be a fan. So I'm just saying, NBA,
you might get a little promotional kick like the NFL song.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
They won't chuck at all.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Ryan Reynolds is trying to run from the very firestorm
he helped to start. According to Justin Baldoni's attorney, so
Brian Friedman is blasting Ryan for the story I had
yesterday Reynolds filing a request to dismiss Baldoni's lawsuit against him,
Baldoni's lawyer saying mister Reynolds's exploitation of his enormous power
(10:26):
in Hollywood continues. This time arrogantly asking to be dismissed
from the case despite his publicly documented involvement in extending
far beyond just being a supportive spouse. Remember this is
where Ryan took that swipe at Justin, calling him thin
skinned for complaining about that nice Pool character from his
(10:49):
Deadpool and Wolverine move me. Friedman says that Reynolds trying
to get off his laughable. His fingerprints have been all
over this smear campaign against Justin from day one.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well, unfortunately for Ryan, he did have to have that
sit down meeting, as they all talked about at one point,
where it was the three of them at a minimum
talking about some of the more intimate things that were
happening on set.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
So well, he's been public about rewriting scenes and doing
all sorts of things on the It ends with US movies,
so I don't think he's going to get off on this. Finally,
Hilaria Baldwin is trying to set the record straight, So
if you missed it, a video went viral last week
of her and husband Alec Baldwin at the grand opening
of Planet Hollywood. A lot of people were very stunned
(11:32):
when they were doing an interview with extra and Alex
starts talking and then all of a sudden, Hilaria goes,
oh my god, when I'm talking, you're not talking. No,
when I'm talking, you're not talking. That actual audio has
gone viral on TikTok yesterday, Hilaria taking to her Instagram
to try and set the record straight on everything being
(11:53):
fine at home.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
It be greatness, you're a winner.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
Oh my god, when I'm talking, you're not talking.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
No, when I'm talking, you're not talking.
Speaker 9 (12:00):
This is why, Yes, we'll have to like just cut
him out of the show.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
And that is called what's the word of the day, interrupting.
Speaker 9 (12:08):
Interrupting, which could be a positive, it could be a negative,
or it could be a correct towle dysfunction, Yes, correct
town function for our children time to get into their room.
But you know, the whole point is because our children
about to come in, the whole point is that we
interrupt each other all the time. Okay, So now that
(12:32):
we cleared all of that up, I look read it up.
Give me kiss just so they know that I'm.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I'm so happy.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
A lot of people aren't necessarily believing this. They're like, oh, yeah,
your TLC reality show bombing might have put some stress
on the marriage.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Honestly, that's the first time I heard hilariy of Baldwin's voice.
I feel like and I don't like. I don't think
I can watch that.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
This is like her six.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
This is like her sixth or seventh different way I've
heard her speech.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I will be Steve direct a dysfunction though, Kyle, Right, all.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Right, all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan start
dot com.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Here we go, Smindy, the big NCAA tournament. The games
kick off at twelve fifteen today, which means productivity ends
at twelve fifteen today.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
I mean, I'm gonna guess productivity ends about eleven because
you're gonna want to go find your spot well before
twelve fifteen if you're looking to hit any places around
West Michigan.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
And this is the day, right, this.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Is the day we're suddenly, at least for us, the
eighth floor is going to be looking pretty empty. I'm
sure with our sales reps, a lot of maybe coworkers
in your office so will suddenly not be findable or
you'll be doing those hybrid meetings where you've got the
background blurred on your teams or zoom app. I've done
(13:50):
some digging to find some legitimate excuses to get you
out of work today, or at least get you out
of working because the age old one is going to
be you're sick, right, and every boss is going to
be like, yeah, I'm sure you are. But here's an
interesting one because I posted this to my Instagram and
I had a few dms with some really tricky, tricky
(14:12):
strategies and hopefully your boss isn't listening right now. I
had a great one from Brandon that said, your family
member is sick, or your kid is sick.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
The kid is the ultimate ghost.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Kid is sick because A no one's going to really
ask you about that. As a parent, you've seen this
and we're in that peak season right. Influenza, a a
random fever, the school calls. I mean, you could even
set the groundwork right now and have like a spouse
call and pretend to be the principle your kid is sick.
(14:44):
The boss is never going to think twice about that.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Now.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
It's a tough one, and I mean, you're not wrong,
and you can really just push all the emotional feels.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
With it too. Schmide. Oh, poor, poor guys, really haven't it.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
I wouldn't go too hard. See, I wouldn't go too hard.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
I'd be I'd be like, oh, you know what, I
am so sorry. I just got a call from enter
school name here. I've got to go pick so and
so up. This is I'm going to be on my
cell the rest of the day. Please send me up.
You go too hard, and then you risk like none
of us are as sneaky as we think we are.
You go too hard, your boss is going to be like, really,
(15:20):
I'll go ahead and take a doctor's note tomorrow about
exactly what situation your child has of.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Car's no problem. You got the ex supremely confident when
you get called out.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Now, this is a very interesting tactic and what I
have not heard of before Gregory sent me this.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Have an office party.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Put March madness out in the office. Don't lie about anything.
Just go to your boss and say, listen, we know
you've been trying to build up morale. We talk about
teamwork at our all staff meetings every week. We've all
been kind of back in the office getting used to
this thing post COVID. You know what would be great,
Let's just throw a couple TVs or computer screens on
(16:00):
at noon today, Just have it on in the background.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
I'll grab some wings.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
You're counting on the cool boss schmiddy or the sports
fanatic boss, which I feel like in our office we
have kind of a sports fanatic boss that if there
was some thing that we could say, like, hey, can
we stop working for? It would be college basketball problem.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
I would say ninety plus percent of offices, you could
actually get away with this. I think as long as
you kept yourself semi working or answered your phone, I
think a lot of bosses would at least say, yeah, couple,
I'll give you a couple hours.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Well.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I like that you came up with great strategies because
in reality they could really benefit quite a few people, because,
according to this news survey they just put out, we
lose about twenty billion dollars in productivity over the March
Madness tournament. Not to mention, forty percent of people admit
to calling in six.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
I actually thought it would be more on both those. Really,
I thought.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
It'd be like fifty billion and eighty seven percent of
people aren't going to work. Do you have a try
and true excuse to get out of work today?
Speaker 4 (17:03):
We're just hypothetically speaking.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
We're sure a lot of you are actually coming down
with things. Like I said, influenza A is that everywhere?
Six one six, four five eight, one oh five seven,
or hit that top back button inside our iHeartRadio.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
App, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Okay, I will admit I really lost my mind with
this announcement yesterday because I love the Netflix docuseries Quarterback.
We had receiver last year, and a second round of
quarterback is coming. And get this, It'll include Joe Burrow
of the Cincinnati Bengals, her Cousins of the Atlanta Falcons
(17:45):
for his second time in the season, and Jared Goff
of our Detroit Lions.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
This is a bit of a teaser trailer.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
We're really trying to chase excellence every day. Does it
get heated?
Speaker 7 (17:58):
Yeah, it's a high pressure situation.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
We're only gone for one season. You're not really doing
that ridiculous comic geller suggestion, Why don't we just do
another season? A quarterback I'm in If you're a i'm in.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Did you really think quarterback was going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Okay, So if you're not familiar, this is the ultimate
behind the scenes look at some of the most high
pressure jobs in the NFL. I'm telling you I loved
the first season of this. Peyton Mannings production company is
behind this. It's going to follow these three quarterbacks through
all of last season. So yes, unfortunately, Lions fans, you
(18:35):
will have to sit through that devastating loss to Washington.
But it is such a good series. It is going
to be released this July, and all three of these
players are really really excited.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
In all honesty too, that was one of the most
fun seasons. Honestly, it was the most fun season I
have ever had as a Lions fan. So to get
to watch it through Jared Goff's first bat.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Have you seen the show?
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I have only watched bits and pieces of this show.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
O good.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Last year for receivers we had Am and Rossi Brown.
So this is not the first time that the Lions
have gotten to do this. But there was a lot
of rumor running around because there were Netflix cameras spotted
at a lot of home games at Ford Field. So
Ken confirm Jared Goff a part of Quarterback Season two
on Netflix. This July very interesting story out of Detroit.
(19:20):
A former employee of Eminem is facing federal charges for
allegedly releasing unreleased music. So Julie Beck is the acting
US Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. She announced
the charges yesterday against forty six year old Joseph Strange
of Holly So. A criminal complaint was actually filed back
(19:42):
on in January. When the investigation started from Mather's music
studio in Ferndale. They reached out to the FBI when
they found some of Eminem's unreleased work on the Internet.
The FBI was able to identify and locate multiple individuals
that had bought the unreleased music. That's when they discovered
Joseph Strange was selling this. The AP says more than
(20:05):
twenty five songs were stolen from a password protected hard
drive sometime between October twenty nineteen and January twenty twenty.
Strange reportedly worked for Mathers from two thousand and seven
through twenty twenty one. He is looking at one count
of copyright infringement and one count of interstate transportation of
(20:26):
stolen goods. He could face up to five years in prison.
Transportation charges carry a ten year penalty.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I mean, dang, that's a lot for it. I'm just
thinking of, like, you know, the cops busting the people.
Where'd you get the stolen music from a man named Strange?
Speaker 7 (20:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Right, But i mean anything to get their hands on
eminem music, I'm sure, guys. Finally, last night was a
very moving night at the Opry one hundred, a live
celebration in Nashville, Tennessee. A lot of this centered around
Dolly Parton, who made a special appearance after losing her
husband Carl, but Carrie Underwood's touching gesture is what so
(21:06):
many people are talking about this morning. The country star
paid tribute to her mentor, Randy Travis by singing two
of his favorite songs, Three Wooden Crosses and Forever and
Ever a Men, which she ended by putting the microphone
to Randy Long.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Yeah, it was really sweet.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
If you're not aware, Randy Travis and his ability to
communicate has been severely affected by his aphasia diagnosis. He
suffered a near fatal stroke back in twenty thirteen, but
looked amazing last night. She also had some really beautiful
Dolly Parton moments.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
It was a great show. That is a really cool moment.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Man, that's a lot awesome. I got your celeb scop
for you at West Michigan Star dot.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Com Domino five points seven its backage bitty let's throw
down Battle of the Sexist Time looking to get you
out for a Grand Rapids Griffins game and this one
against some rivals.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Yeah, this is coming up April second, as the Chicago
Wolves come to town.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Today's Battle of the Sexiest question.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
One hundred women surveyed, Name something exciting you spot in
the ocean?
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I did at one time, and now it's all I
ever want to do if I can. I want to
see sea turtles live in the wild against.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Yeah, not my three year old. She wants to see Ariel.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
She's one hundred percent certain that Disney Princess is about
to pop up and say hello. Six one six, four
five eight, one oh five seven. One hundred women surveyed,
name something exciting you spot in the ocean? Collar seven
You can be aded to the Griffins with Star one
oh five point.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Seven seven O five points seven Time two Battle Battle
of the Sexes. Jennifer on the line, Rate calling from
the morning, Jennifer Park. All right, Jennifer, you gotta tell me.
One hundred women were asked to name something exciting you
might spot in the ocean.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
The top answer was I'd be excited if I've seen
a whale.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
You'd be excited if you saw a whale. I'd be
excited if I saw a whale too. As a matter
of fact, I've been to whale watching before and that's
literally all you're waiting for. It's like an hour and
a half or so of waiting and then you finally
see a whale for about thirty seconds and you're like,
all right, I guess it.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Was worth it.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
But whale's the number two, answered Jennifer. I'm sorry, thank you,
thank you, Hi Star. Who's this Chelsea? I just got
a great guess from Jennifer, and I would have made
this guess as well. And one hundred women were asked
to name something exciting that you might spot in the ocean.
She said a whale, which was a great guess. It
(23:48):
was the number two most common answer and very close,
but not the top one.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
What do you think it is?
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I think it's a dolphin.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
You think it's a dolphin. You know, I don't want
to just see one dolphin. I want to see a
whole pot of dolphins doing trick like flipper flying into
the air. All of the above dolphins. The top answered,
Chelsea can.
Speaker 7 (24:05):
Con awesome, thank you.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Yeah, You're gonna go to the Griffins April seconds. It's
another Wednesday home game over there against the Chicago Wolves.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
You will be there.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Thank you to Mike, You're very welcome.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Another chance to win tomorrow, same time around eight fifteen
with Battleads the sexes right here on Star selling a
fine point seven feel good variety of the eighties. Still now,
good morning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty, and perhaps
you started your day with it today. Perhaps you've started
your day with the same one for years and years
and years. I want to talk to you about cereal, Schmitty.
(24:38):
Are you a serial person?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
No.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Have you ever been? Did you go through like the
phases in like high school?
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Like I can remember when I was pregnant with Will,
my biggest craving was frosted mini weeds. Interesting, I still
love frost I still love frosted manyweeds. That'll get me
gone fair enough well, because my question is, actually I
eat less cereal today. Than I think I did it
most other points in my life? Is it because you're
I saw the cereal we had when we were kids
was super bad for you.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
But that's the thing that's actually why I wanted to
bring this out. Do you still eat the cereal that
you ate as a kid, like the exact same kinds
of cereal? Because my wife I ate a bowl yesterday
when I got home from work that was like what
I had as a snack, and she's like cris Picks. Man,
She's like, you love your cris Picks.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Dang, that was mine too, But I only eat it
in puppy chow form. Now it is not covered in
chocolate sugar.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
I can't do it. But cris Picks was like every
kid's cereal.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
This is what you ruined. You ruined it.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
So the funny thing is is SCHMINDI So I thought
about this and I go, well, yeah, it's the cereal
that I've eaten my entire life. And then I literally
went back in time. I have been eating cris Picks
as long as I can remember. It's actually one of
the longest relationships in my life and perhaps the thing
I've been most committed to for the longest period of time.
(25:53):
I've only known my wife for like twenty years, but
I've been eating Cris Picks NonStop on the daily since
I was like five. It's not great on it's all delicious.
I love it the corn side, the wheat side. And
it's so funny that you bring up that you like
it in puppy Chow. Yeah, because the whole reason that
Chris Picks exists is to fight against checks, which was not.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Dude, the check kids.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Uh, I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
So Chris Picks was born the same year I was
nineteen eighty three, is when they dropped Chris Picks for
the very first time, and honestly, it's been a big
part of my life ever since.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
I'll tell you the worst part of my cereal life.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Yeah, total oh total?
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Do you remember total?
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Course? I remember total one.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah, I'll tell you it's not delicious, but you'll be regular,
which as a child shouldn't be an issue.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Hey, you know what, I'm really like a snack. But
my fiber intake is.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Been ninety since like the age of four.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Sometimes because i'd get a good feel Well, let's put
a little positivity into this Thursday morning. Thanks sharing it
with US. It is Mack and SCHMIDI here on star
with feeling good right now.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Yeah, you know, we are so endlessly thankful for our
servicemen and women and finally getting the flowers he deserves.
A Vietnam veteran from Muskegan has his service medals. More
than fifty years after he left the US Navy, Carl
Smith was deployed to Vietnam, serving nineteen sixty nine to
nineteen seventy three, and it was quite a celebration yesterday,
(27:25):
family and friends gathering at VFW Post seventy seven to
twenty nine near Wolf Lake to receive those medals. It's
in big thanks to Representative John Molinar, who was contacted
by Carl Smith wondering if there was a way to
prove his service. It's very odd. He worked on a
missile frigate called a Lady class ship, and those records
(27:46):
are sealed, so it's very challenging for veterans to prove
that they were in combat. But now that is changed,
as Carl was given the medals he so rightly deserves,
and with this being Vietnam, you know, coming home back
then was no easy task. And for Smith he remains
proud of that service.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
When I came home, you were told not to wear
your uniform alone. I fought for that uniform. That uniform
still means something to me today.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Smith tells Wood TV he's really hoping more records will
be released. He said Vietnam and Korean War veterans never
received the appreciation they deserved.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
It's one hundred percent true. I know my dad didn't
get his third Purple Heart until almost fifty years after
his service was over. And this is a really common thing.
So I'm really happy to see what of our heroes
get this metal.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Carl, thank you for your service big time, all.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Right, Chmiddy.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Special Olympics Michigan athletes got to come home from Europe,
specifically Italy on Monday, and they came home with some hardware.
After arriving in tour in Italy on March seventh, Max
Gilbert from Kalamazoo, Andrea Rutledge from Flushing, Christina Denali from
Gross Point Farm, and Jeremiah stump Fig from my little
(29:00):
hometown of Houghton Lake, Michigan came home after competing in
the Special Olympics Winter Games there in Italy. And they
came back after we had the Nali pick up two
golds in alpine skiing. And then Jeremiah Stumpfigo I mentioned
from Hoten Lake. He won two gold medals and a
silver in cross country skiing, and I have watched people
(29:24):
from my hometown just absolutely blow up because Jeremiah is
actually a greater. At our local Walmart there, which is
the biggest door in tiny little Houghton Lake, Michigan, we
don't have a Meyer. We drive a half an hour
just to get to a Meyer. But yes, Jeremy works
there at Walmart. And they were so excited for him
that people lined the streets upon his arrival home on Monday.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
And they gave him.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
A police escort through the town and then to work.
They took him to his work there at Walmart so
all of his friends and coworkers could meet him there
and congratulate him again on winning two gold medals and
a silver at the Special Olympics. But very cool, really
cool to see of course, Special Olympics Michigan giving year
round sports training to athletes all over the state, more
(30:08):
than twenty thousand kids and adults with intellectual disability, So
always love to shout them out and the incredible work
that they're doing. Feeling good, coming at you a couple
times a day. Let's do it tomorrow, six forty five
and nine twenty here on Star Mack and Schmidty in
the morning weekday, starting at six am on Star one
oh five point seven
