Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wake.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going. It makes me lab of it.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one of
five point seven. Good morning, SI, Welcome to Monday, Welcome
into a brand spank of new week. That's right, But
let's recap just for a second, because you were one busy,
busy person this weekend. I know that you found yourself
all over the place, but got to include the Meyer
LBGA Classic for a week give because that place was

(00:31):
just going off at Blayfield. All I heard about this
weekend was.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
That it was packed, absolutely packed in the best way.
I was out there Thursday, but then it was out
there Friday with the kids. The Discovery Land was the
biggest it's ever been. We got our faces painted, we
left with a bunch of swag, and then I just
watched people on Saturday and Sunday just, oh my gosh,
love that place.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I mean I saw on Sunday morning there were six
incredible golfers tied for the lead. Yeah, it was incredible
onto the final around, including fan favorite Lexi Thompson was
right in the mix all day long. I mean, what
a great event again and best of all, like we've
said over and over again, now and it's seventeenth year,
one hundred million bucks because of simply give, going out

(01:13):
to food banks all over this place.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yes, so far.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I mean we haven't gotten the numbers just from this weekend.
So we're gonna see because I'm sure we saved, you know,
brought in a bunch again, if you're not aware of
simply give, it is feeding families across the state of Michigan.
So if you went out and joyed some golf, know
that you did it.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
For a great cause, big time.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
And then after all of your stuff that going on,
you had this weekend, you had Father's Day yesterday, how
to go for Chris, We're just chilled.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
We really didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
That's what we did.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Didn't do much of anything. I actually felt kind of
bad and he was like, no, this is yes, this
is what I wanted to do. We've got the boat
pretty much done, so it's up for.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Sale today everyone.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
If I could do a quick tradio moment, if you're
looking for a fabulous fishing boat that's been redone top
to bottom, just wait, I'll be sharing the link momentarily.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Honestly though meticulously maintained, is how I would describe it,
knowing your high.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
No, he redid the entire thing. That's what he's been
doing for the past month.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
You floored everything.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
So the end of his father's Day was literally, Babe,
we can get pictures up online. And I was like,
if that's all you need to do for your Dad's Day,
I'm perfectly fine with that. But we hope that your
family had a wonderful weekend too. You celebrated that special
guy in your life. Do you have a nice day Yesterday?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
It was wonderful, but we shelled too. We went to
a pool, we hung out with my father in law,
went out with the lunch.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
That was it, movies, music and all the gossip in
one place.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
It's the celebrities gooop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Well, the crowd's outside the Manhattan courthouse where Ditty's trial
has been going on. Absolutely stunned. Late Friday morning, shortly
after we were off the air, it showed up Kanye
West supporting Diddy during a federal trafficking trial. Camras were
rolling when he arrived at that federal courthouse, hopping out
of a car drust in all white Chokans with a

(02:56):
few people out front, then headed toward the security check
in now. We're learning later on over the weekend that
he was not in the same courtroom as Ditty, there
was actually an overflow room that he was invited into
to watch on closed circuit television, but says that he
is in full support of his friend. It's really interesting

(03:18):
because there have been a lot of conversations over the
weekend from different celebrities about whether or not people who
did consider themselves really close friends with Ditty should be
a part of this supportive time. But very very interesting.
At the same time, Chris Jenner actually posted a big
Father's Day post and in it thanked Kanye for being
such a great dad.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
This's been a very weird weekend for that.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
An object's position there for sure. Kanye in the overflow
room sounds funny to me, just because I mean, he
walks into places. I'm a genius. How can you put
me in here? I just think that being in an
overflow room with Kanye where he felt maybe free to
rant a little bit right there, might have been the
best TV you could have watched it there.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Smokey Robinson trying to to turn up the heat on women.
Women excuse me accusing him of abuse. He is now
asking a court to compel one Jane Doe for a
deposition and a sanction her attorneys. The singer songwriter filing
new documents claiming Jane Do number two's attorneys are refusing
to set up a date for her deposition. He says

(04:20):
the delay is not fair to his side of the story.
He argues his livelihood has taken a huge hit because
of the delay because each day these allegations against him
drag out affects his touring income. Smokey says the court
should compel the woman's deposition to happen within the next
fourteen days. He's also asking for sanctions against her attorneys

(04:41):
for forcing him to go to court to make it happen.
He is looking at the amount of four seven hundred
and sixty two dollars and fifty cents. I don't know
why that's like so perfectly on, but he says that
is the exact amount him and his wife have spent
on attorneys to fight the discovery battle.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
It's just it's take a completely awkward thing. We're talking
about an eighty year old man and his wife. Allegations
from stemming twenty years ago, I believe was when they
originated and now he's on tour at the same time
that all this happen, and a.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Lot of fans are wondering if he is still going
to be touring, right, I mean, he's supposed to be
coming to the Frederick Meyer Gardens.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
We'll see. I'll keep you updated on that.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Finally, it was Father's Day, lots of Hollywood celebs, of course,
sharing to social media pages either their own fathers or
the wonderful dads in their life. That includes Oprah Winfrey,
who doesn't really talk a whole ton about her childhood
or parents save for a few really bombshall moments and interviews,

(05:43):
but she shared a really moving post about her dad, saying,
in honor of this special day, I'm reflecting on my
relationship with my dad. Vernon, she wrote an exclusive essay
for Oprah Daily, writing, my father is the root of
all my successes, personal, physical, financial, because he understood intrinsically
that fathering is a verb. It requires action and acting

(06:06):
according to the child you're raising. The entire tribute is
pretty beautiful. I've got it up for you at West
Michigan Star dot Com with all your scoop's.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Telling of fine points you have a good morning to you.
It's Mack and Schmidty Monday. Need a little extra juice
to get going. We got you covered feeling good right now?
And Schmidty did your brothers I'm assuming you didn't, but
you know, correct me if I'm way wrong. Did they
have BMX bikes?

Speaker 5 (06:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (06:30):
They never read BMX bikes. I didn't either. I had
one for a brief moment in time that I actually
I traded from a friend. I had to give it back.
Different story. That being said, if you have a BMX bike,
it doesn't change gears and the wheels are tiny like
my kids bike. I just upgraded I think to either
twenty or twenty four inch wheels. Full size adults sitting

(06:52):
on a BMX bike that is a twenty inch rim.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
A gentleman just crossed the entire United States on ABM bike.
He crossed the entire United States without ever switching gears
one single time. He traveled across the entire United States
on that little tiny seat of a BMX bike with
no place for your knees to go but up into
your chest, over and over again. His name is Sebastian

(07:19):
SeaBASS Fowler. He is a comedian, and he rode all
the way from San Diego to New York and get
these eighty days. Isn't it around the world in eighty days?
Isn't that what they do in the with the hot
air balloon. He did it on a BMX bike, becoming
the first known person to ever do a coast to
coast journey on one of these things. Along the way,

(07:39):
he actually did stand up comedy in six different cities,
included on the Netflix show Killed Tony, which is kind
of cool. But best of all, he also raised nine
thousand dollars to buy one hundred BMX bike for underprivileged kids.
But he had to go through a lot, got pulled
over by a police eleven times, chased by dogs, stalked
by Mountain linemans, all while doing this just insane thing.

(08:03):
And when he got to New York he did this
all for his father and he got to get to
New York and visit his father's grave on the East
Coast before going back to San Diegoia. Wow, so pretty incredible,
Just an amazing, amazing effort.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Well, a trio of suspects who hoofed it out of
their pasture safely returned home. Thanks to the quick work
of law enforcement. They are now being called the Halbert
Herd because they were found along Halbert Road in Bedford Township.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
That's right near Battle Creek.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Officers called for three baby Highland cows they had gotten
out of their pasture. This is Ferdinand pat and ringleader Elvis.
The reason I picked this story today is because the
bodycam footage of the officers is one for the books.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
Yeah, I've seen usually not the little ones like this.
These are like minis.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
She is a cute one there.

Speaker 7 (08:55):
Emily just called me and said she'd with the owner,
so that has to be them.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
She thinks that they'll just come back with a grain bucket.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
So oh yeah, yeah, they they've enjoyed their uh oh yeah,
they're munching. I got a bag in the truck. I
wonder if the bag we can just at least.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
Get them over there. I got a rope. I'm not
roping the cow. Horse.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I'll rope all day long.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
A horse, I'll rope all day long. That was Corporal
Craig Wolf, Officer Emily Tools and Animal Control Officer Patrick
Dellinger from the Battle Creek Department helping the cows get
back home. They were safely returned to their owners. But
according to the Facebook post, the flower beds they were
munching on remaining critical condition.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Well you know, as they busted out too. Maybe they
have to pay restitution or something on those Schmittie.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
By the way, wait till you see the pictures of
these linlent Cowswest Michigan.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Star dot com Movies, music and all the gossip in
one place.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Well, what should have been a celebratory day for Justin
Bieber his first Father's Day yesterday, has once again put
fans on high alert about his mental well being. He
took to Instagram to post about his approach to fatherhood,
using some very colorful language in a black and white
photo which appears to show him putting up his middle finger.

(10:16):
The caption simply reads, I'm a dad that's not to
be bleeped with then if you look further on, he
posts a text message conversation where he seems to be
ending a friendship with something, talking about being traumatized, saying
the friendship is officially over. I'll never accept a man
calling my anger lashing out. I enjoyed our short lived relationship.

(10:39):
I wasn't kidding when I told you I didn't need
you as a friend. You need to respect these boundaries.
Please leave me alone. I'm blocking you. And then it
was noticed that Haley Bieber mentioned nothing about Justin yesterday,
even though she was extremely active on social media, posting
lots of different stories, a post about her beauty line,

(10:59):
absolute nothing about Justin as a dad.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I actually think that's the most alarming thing out of
any of it, just because you know, when you're a
married couple, your very first Father's Day with your newborn,
and when you live as public and as social media
driven lives as those two do, that's just really surprising.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Also, you're not even doing your own social You're telling
like you had to tell your social manager, like, no,
we're not putting something up interesting. The world waits as
violence continues in the Middle East. The deadly conflict between
Israel and Iran has entered its fourth day, both sides
firing new waves of missiles overnight, amid international pleas for

(11:38):
diplomacy and de escalation. Terrified civilians have the death toll
rising on both sides. Two US officials say that President
Trump actually rejected and Israeli planned to kill Iran's supreme leader,
while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Yahu has denied those reports.
But someone who is snack dab in the middle of

(12:00):
all of this Caitlyn Jenner posting yesterday that she is
safe in Tel Aviv after traveling there for a Pride parade.
According to event organizers in the city, missiles continue to
rain down on that city. The parade and all the
activities were shut down, but in a post, Caitlyn saying
There's no place I'd rather be than with the brave

(12:20):
people of Israel. She also admits that daughter Kylie Jenner
was very, very worried about this trip, and she has
been checking in with family, but they're not certain that
she isn't still in some serious danger.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
I hope that she's safe. At the same time, can
we not do anything without the Kardashian Jeni.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
And everything, everything everywhere, ma'am. Finally, in honor of Father's Day,
one of the funniest dads on the planet, comedian Jim Gaffigan,
who often talks about his wild life as the dad
of five well most Sundays for CBS Sunday Morning. Gaffigin
has a special little feature, and yesterday he got the
day off thanks to his son.

Speaker 8 (13:01):
I'm Patrick Gaffigan. We're giving my dad the day off
to Sunday. Not that whatever he does in this show
should be considered working. I'd like to talk to you
about the struggles of being one of the offspring of
this guy. Having Jim Gaffigan as a dad is not
our rainbows and hot pockets, folks. He's too strict, talks
too much about his garden, and often from I was like, geez.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It's pretty great, shared by Jim himself with a caption
that simply said, whoop, the apple fell pretty close to
this tree.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
It's not all about rainbows and hot pockets. Is my
favorite line of the day for sure.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I'm all of your celeb Scoop at West Michigan.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Start off, come on it to you, it's back and
schmitty and do you mention Father's Day and then mentioned
single moms? What are we talking about here?

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Have you seen posts like this people that will use
Father's Day to be like Happy Father's Day to all
the great dad's and happy Father's Day to the single
moms that fulfill both roles. Because I was scrolling and
one of my Facebook friends had a very passionate post
that went up last night, and it started by saying,
if one more person wishes me a happy Father's Day,

(14:12):
I am going to scream.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I do not identify as a father.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Never No disrespect to the female humansho use that label
for their role in the family. It's not mine. I've
never been a father to my son. I just stepped
up when I needed to. I'm a single mom. Stop
wishing me a Father's Day. So I was looking through
this and there were a lot of people really lit
up about it, and I'm curious if you think it
is a big deal or if it's really just people

(14:39):
trying to put a lot of emphasis on how hard
single momhood is, because I don't think you see it
a whole lot.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Maybe with guys.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
That's what I was thinking. It seems well intentioned to
me that you're just trying to say somebody, Hey, I
knew you're kind of pulling double duty on this, and
it's not unnoticed. I think that's fine. That being said,
it is not ever said to guys on Mother's Day.
There are not single dads who are getting told Happy
Mother's Day. On Mother's Day. In this way, and if
they were, you'd think that you know one person on

(15:11):
your timeline being like very against this. You'd see countless
posts of people saying guys are not moms, don't have
anything to do with Mother's Day, and this is ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
So from my perspective, I don't know a single dad.
I don't know a single single dad. I know two,
I don't I know a lot of single moms. I
don't know any single dads if they're not in a
co parenting situation. It feels to me like it's definitely
more common for women. I was looking through some of
the comments on this, and the first one I saw,

(15:45):
I think it's the corniest, weirdest thing ever to wish
single moms a happy Father's Day. My mom held it down,
loved me more than enough for two parents, but I
never looked at her or whatever acknowledge her as a father.
It's a wild thing that people are doing. Another comment,
hate to see it. Today's for the men, not single moms.
They had their day back in May. Social media always

(16:07):
does this with Mother's Day. There's no conditions with Father's Day.
There's a bunch of fine print. For instance, Mother's Day,
Happy Mother's Day, to mom's Father's Day, Happy Father's Day,
to all the fathers who are present in their children's lives,
but especially to the moms who do both. I'm curious
if like, guys are just getting a bad rap here
or like you need to step up and maybe we've

(16:28):
had a rough history with dance.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
A little bit. I mean, I don't think that there
is any the nine who does more of the child
rearing traditionally throughout history. That being said, I think that
dads today are spending more time with their kids and
doing more stuff.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Well yeah, science proves that, but I mean, are we
trying to make up for the fact that there's been
a few generations of maybe that not happening. What do
you think about this? Six one, six, four five eight
one oh five seven would you be totally turned off
to the point of irritation if you were a single
mom and got wish to Happy Father's Day? Give us
a call, or if you're on our free iHeartRadio app

(17:03):
right now, just click that red microphone you can send
us a talk back to the studio.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
It also depends, like all compliments, on who it comes from.
I mean, if somebody in like the grocery store was like, oh,
singing doing it yourself. Happy Father's Day to you two.
I'd be way more thrown off than my best friend
going like, hey, I know you're pulling double duty. Happy father.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yeah, here are the facts.

Speaker 6 (17:23):
But human torch was denied at.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Banklover deadline, good Chaine. If you're hoping to learn something,
you're in the wrong place. These are the week's most
ridiculous badbye.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Like I said, this would be the coolest recess ever.
A fitness education group in California, Brookie get US world
record for the most people playing red Light Green Light yep.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
They had students come in from all across the district.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
More than fourteen hundred people played the record breaking game
at your Park in Anaheim.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Goodbye Spin. A man poses his flake. Fake flight attendant
boards dozens of flights. Florida man convicted of wire fraud
over a six year period where he got on thirty
four flights by manipulating the airline's employee flight booking system.
Honestly ultimate travel hack.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Right there on North Carolina Sheriff's office assisted with the
capture of an alligator, citing the reptile for suspicion of
being a dinosaur without proper papers. The nearly ten foot
reptile was four hundred pounds. Also hit with public loitering
with intent to sunbathe and obstructing traffic.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Good Bye, Chmennie King's Island Amusement Park visitors advised to
keep mouths closed on rides due to ciccadas. Yeh yes,
billions of red eyed cicadas heatched out of the ground
around the park show park officials warning people to keep
their mouths shut on the rides. I mean, concession are expensive.

(19:01):
Luckily your savings of cash.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
A Florida bear taking a little dip in a residence
hot tub was finally caught and relocated with the help
of donuts. This went down in Punta Gorda over the weekend.
Caught on the family's ring cam, the bear came out
of the woods, popped in the hot tub, then took
a six hour nap on their outdoor couch before animal

(19:24):
control officers showed up, luring it into a live trap
with a dozen donuts. Like, I've never seen myself as
an animal until right now.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, I live best life for sure at fine. Woman
catches online heat for naming her baby girl Chernobyl.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Honestly, I wish this surprised me, but the amount of
influencers that are making it a vacation spot, that's where
we live now.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Maybe she saw the baby and was like, look at
this little sweetheart. I mean she's radiating. She's practically glowing semittye.
That sweeks best headlines. You see any great ones out there,
always send them our way. At West Michigan, Star.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Place, it's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five
point seven.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, leave it to Taylor Swift to went out one
of the biggest things she does, and that is giving back,
surprising kids at a children's hospital in Florida over the weekend,
she swung by Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, hugging staff, chatting
with patients, and just sending those incredible vibes out like.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Your hair so cool.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
I mean literally, patients were stunned.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Family members that were there with their kids were jaws
on the ground. She took a ton of time, making
rounds to every floor, snapping pictures with any patient who
asked for it, and even showing up big for the staff.
Comes after her date night with Travis at the Stanley Cup.
I know, back on that Thursday night, but through the
weekend all about the kids and just getting real praise

(21:05):
for that, you.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Know, I know we are about to canonize our first millennial.
I saw the new Pope is going to be making
a saying down of a fifteen year old Taylor on
track here, Schmidie. It seems like she's.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Doing all the things, maybe in a few miracles, I think.
First Elijah Blue Almond.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
This is the son of Share with the late Greg Alman,
in the hospital this morning after an overdose in southern California.
Sources say he was rushed to the hospital in Joshua
Tree after overdosing early Saturday morning. Not exactly sure on
a ton of details. He's in the hospital receiving the
best care possible, but doctors have reportedly told cher, who

(21:44):
rushed to be at his bedside, he is lucky to
have survived. They're saying Shares only concern now is for
her son's well being. She's doing everything she can to
get him the help he needs. Elijah has been very
open about his struggle with substance abuse. In twenty fourteen,
he did an interview where he admitted to taking drugs
when he was only eleven. He has had several close

(22:06):
calls with overdosing, saying this is a really, really hard
thing to overcome back. In twenty twenty three, Share actually
filed a conservatorship in order to control his money, claiming
he was substantially unable to manage his own financial resources
due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues. So

(22:27):
golly really hoping that maybe this might be the wake
up call that's scary for any mom.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
I mean, an unimaginable situation to find yourself in. Drugs
are bad.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
And it was a great weekend for the US Open
taking place at Oakma, what is being called the hardest
golf course in all of North America and one of
the hardest in the entire world. It was j J
Spawn hitting the shot of his life.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
It a low cut would be perfect. That's a good line. Oh,
this is one of the best drives. Yes, it is
a slow down. I want to shot the best shot
of his life.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Unbelievable. That led to a.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Birdie, one stroke lead and one par on eighteen for
the US Open Championship, his first since twenty thirteen, and
the reason I also loved this story, he was telling
reporters afterwards. I mean, it's lucky he played as well
as he did because he started the morning with eight
an emergency trip to CVS. His two year old daughter,

(23:31):
Violet had a stomach bug. He said, him and his
wife were up all night with her vomiting in the
hotel room. He said, Okay, my wife is up at
three am. There's vomit everywhere, can't keep anything down. It's
kind of a rough start to my morning. So I'm
shocked I'm even out here able to golf today. True
dad mode.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I never even heard of this guy before he won this,
And they're not kidding about it being the hardest course ever.
You follow golf at all most tournaments and majors, you're
in the under par scores, right. He's the only player
in the entire tournament to finish under par at one under.
Everybody else was over. That never happens in major tournaments.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
I think what the most amount of bunkers there was
rain the entire weekend, mud everywhere. It's pretty wild, fun story.
Do you want to check it out West Michigan Star
dot com with your scoops.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
It's been a summertime staple here in the West Michigan
and Battle of the Sexes gets you into it. Today,
we want to send you to the Ionia Free Fare Man.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
The grandstand shows are pretty sweet this year, from the
Monster Truck throw Down to the spring car races, even
the Twisted pe Rodeo.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
You could win your way in right now.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
With one hundred women surveyed, name a test people get
nervous to take?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
If a test people get nervous to take, there's a
lot of them that you get nervous for.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
I'm just glad my driver's test had a bunch of
other things besides parallel parking, because if I was only
graded on the parallel parking, I would be ubering still
well into my thirty.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
You get a couple of points grace on that.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
One yeah, sure, six one six.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
By the one oh five seven, one hundred women surveyed,
name a test people get nervous to take?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Good morning star, Who's this, Susan? Where you calling from today?
I am calling from little town Spotford. Ah, roddy, Susan.
Let's start the week out right. One hundred women were
asked to name a test that people get real nervous about.
Taking What was their top answer? Suicide?

Speaker 8 (25:25):
I would say drug test.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
You would say drug test. Yeah, especially if you've perhaps
been a bad boy or girl and are on probation,
then then he might really be facing some heavy consequences
if things go poorling for you. But yes, drug test
is the number two most common answer. Though I'm sorry, Okay, okay,
thank you, bye bye, Hi Star. Who's this? Hey? This

(25:50):
is Bridget Bridget. One hundred women were asked to name
a test people get very nervous about, and Susan just
said a drug test. And it made me think of
this old episode a sign Feld where Elaine fails a
drug test because she had a poppy seed muffin the
day that she had to take it.

Speaker 6 (26:06):
I remember that episode.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
That's the best one. Yeah, drug test was the number
two most common answer. What do you think the top
one was there?

Speaker 4 (26:14):
You know, since women were answered, I'm gonna say test.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
I was waiting for somebody to just say this should
be a little too obvious because it was one hundred
women and not guys, although you guys are also nervous
about the results of that test.

Speaker 6 (26:29):
For sure.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Definitely pregnancy test is the top answer. Where to go, Yeah,
you got four tickets for the ioon and you have
free fair coming up July tenth through the nineteenth at
the own You County Fairgrounds.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Congrats, all right, awesome, thank you, you are so welcome.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
We'll do it all week long. Your chance to win
again tomorrow eight fifteen with Battle of the Sexes here
on Star Morning's Here it's back at Schmidty Fun Weekend
in my house, Smitty as we welcome to a new
dog to the house and h it is a female puppy,
and we have been struggling for the name. And my
wife and I were talking about this, and you know,

(27:05):
it's one thing about the dog, but we had the
same thing with our kids. When it came to a
boy name, Boom snapped had it pretty dang quick. When
it came to girl names, we didn't know right up
until we met her. We had like whittled it down
to finalists. And then we're like, we gotta look at
her and talk, you know, and figure out who she
is and what she looks like. And we just realized

(27:25):
we're just either terrible at girl names ourselves, or there's
just a simple truth to life. Girl names are harder
than boy names. SHMITTI that is my completely unscientific conclusion
that I've come to.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
You cause I thought boy names were harder. Really, yeah,
I did. I had a girl name picked out right away.
We knew exactly how we were gonna spell list that
we like, paid homage to our polish shared is.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Yeah, you would be off in there.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Yeah, boy names were much harder for me.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Boy names were. I see. I feel like boy names
have so many traditional names that are timeless that still work.
For example, you used one you've got William as a name.
You could call him will You could call him Bill
or Billy.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
No, no, no, we would never call him Bill.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
You can't. But I'm just saying nobody else can name
versus Bill.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Sounds like somebody that made some poor choices in life.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
My father's name. Please stop it.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Are just getting to all the bills listening.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Mark, Please William Bill? Okay, but his mother would call
him Billy. But I just I think that girl names
because it I don't feel like the classic names work
as much. You're not naming your kids eleanor anymore. There
are no more Jennifers and Heathers and and all those names.
Girl names in general have gone the wayside.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
So it's funny you say that because people are naming
their kids eleanor like, there's a huge when you look
at the top ten.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Because that was always my thing.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I didn't want my kids to have a common name, right,
and I knew I wasn't getting away with it with Will.
That's because I thought boy names were much harder.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
See, no matter what you name your kid, rest assured
it's going to become one of the most top ten
most popular names within five years of you doing it.
That's what happened for both of my Yeah. But when
it comes to this dog name, Smitty, I could give
you five boy dog names that we'd be happy with,
we cannot get passed coming up with like two to

(29:10):
three girl names that we're sort of okay with, but
nobody can agree on.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
I like the current names. Stick with that.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
So we had Juno. My wife and I really like Scout.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Oh, I know, like seven Scouts?

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Are they all girls?

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (29:23):
You know seven Scouts. I didn't know any See, this
is the thing that kills me.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
There's a lot of people I know with the name
Scout for a girl dog.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
So the things that are ruining this So Juno obviously
I think of teenage pregnancy. I just can't get Jason
Bateman and you know, at Elliott Page and Michael Sarah
out of my head. Meanwhile, I liked Sky, She's got
one bright blue eye. And I love Sky until my
kids reminded me that that's the girl Paul patrolled. Dog's
name all I would think of and exactly. And so
we just keep coming to these little stops where we're

(29:51):
just like, all right, this dog is just going to
be called come here Puffy, all all of it's life like.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
An old TV show, and choose a girl name from that.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Marge mar By March.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
He's a cute one.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Oh is it cute? I was gonna say, you already
took Sophia, or I could really go Golden Girls, Blanche Blanche.
Nobody's naming their dog Blanche. Mide.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Well, so how many people are going to start talking
to you if you're walking down the sidewalk going Blanche,
do your business?

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Hey, we all know mondays aren't the easiest. We're here
to give you that little extra push feeling good on
starting on fine points.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Well, it's the Monday after Father's Day, so actually this
is a good push because It is an incredible team
effort in the Farmington Hills Fire Department as not one
but two father son duos are serving their community side
by side. We talked about being a chip off the
old block. This is truly an example of that, creating

(30:45):
a really special bond through their shared passion for firefighting.
That includes Dennis Klay Bermont and Raymond and Caleb Public,
two separate roles, but team members through went through forment
joining the department back in twenty twenty three after his
dad started in two thousand and two. And as for

(31:07):
the Publics, they are firefighting just part time, but it
becomes a full time passion for them. Lieutenant Raymond Public
has been on the department for twenty five years. His
twenty one year old son is now following in his footsteps.
And in honor of Father's Day, the two recorded very
thankful messages for their heroic dads.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
His videos to my dad, the man who raise and
guide me to be the man that I am today.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
Even such a great role model, such a great father figure.
I think the work you've done with Carter, Max and
I no father even comes close.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
And Dad, I know I don't say it enough, but
always remember I love you unconditionally and I wouldn't be
where I am today without you.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
I think you're the best dad in the world. I
couldn't ask for anything better.

Speaker 7 (31:52):
Happy Father's Day.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
I love you man.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
That's pretty powerful stuff, right. Seven News Detroit was there
when they showed the surprise video to both dads, who
got pretty choked up, admitting one of the biggest things
they've learned never be afraid to say I love you, awesome.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
When he leaves for a shift or when he comes home,
it's always like how you doing, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (32:17):
You know?

Speaker 7 (32:17):
Or good night? I love you at the end of
the night.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Yep, that's a win for Father's Day. Got the video
for you at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Get me all my feels over here, Schminni. Jeez, this
is a little crazier for Father's Day. Is Zoo, Miami's
oldest reptile had a birthday on Father's Day. It's a
Galaba ghost turns named Goliath and check this out. He
just turned one hundred and thirty five years old yesterday,
but he also just recently became a father for the

(32:46):
first time. He had one of the eggs laid by
his mate, little old sweet Pea. There, sweet Pee had
a little one together with Goliath. And now an application
has actually been made to the Guinness Book of World
Records to recognize Goliath is the oldest first time father
in history. He's a big boy, clocking in at five

(33:06):
hundred and seventeen pounds as well. Zoo Miami communications director
Ron McGill just talking about this bad boy.

Speaker 6 (33:13):
He is one of the easiest going, most Mello Galopicus
tortoises that I've ever worked with. There's something special about Goliath.
First of all, he's very attracted to people. He'll come
walking right up to you and at over five hundred pounds,
you got to be very careful that he doesn't step
on you.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Yeah, and that wouldn't be nice on the toes for sure.
Congratulations goliathough one hundred and thirty five. Becoming a Dad
Smith I got to.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Add in because I saw that they also added becoming
a dad at one hundred and thirty five. Ron said,
living proof that where there is a will, there is
a way, And I think that is one of the
best quotes ever.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Feeling good, Kevin Asie couple times did they always want
to share something awesome with you. We'll do it again tomorrow,
six forty five and nine twenty Every weekday here on
Star Mack and schmidty in the morning weekday starting at
six am on Star one oh five point seven
