Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wake up.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
It makes me laugh of it.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven, Oh, good morning's ready, good morning, welcoming
to your Tuesday. I'm gona a pretty nice one too.
It looks like mostly shunny and he's in the mid
eighties today, Schmidty, another hot one.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Oh, it's gonna be real hot, I think. I sil
and Bacha say eighty eight and it's already feeling sticky outside.
Heads up, though, guys, we do have the chance for
a pop up storm because it is so hot. So
you are gonna wanna either keep your eye to the
sky or better yet, keep your eye on a forecast.
Because I'm not exactly sure what today is gonna look like.
But I stepped outside and immediately felt that like feeling

(00:45):
of being in a wet shoe. So it's gonna be
It's gonna be one of those kinds of days. This
is a reason, just one reason. I'm not exactly a meteorologist.
But that's the best feels like forecast I can give you.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Actually, I looked at it says humidity hit almost ninety
percent already humidity, So I believe wet shoe is pretty accurate,
I mean pretty solidly done there. That's its meteorology and
its finest. I think, first you love the hate, you're
gonna love to Last night I was actually out in
it my son's first playoff baseball game of the season.
They got the w which is cool. Their season goes

(01:17):
a little bit longer. But I'm assistant coach, so I'm
out there beforehand doing batting practice. I thought I'd be like,
you know, cool dad, and say, hey, anybody who wants
to come and do batting practice before the game. Coming
out there. The only batting cage in the fields is outdoors,
and it turned into me throwing one hundred and fifty
pitches and having so much sweat dripping down my body.

(01:38):
By the time the game started, I was embarrassed to go.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Over h great parent, I'm so happy my kids sports
wrapped up like a month ago. Throw please, music and
all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Well. Prosecutors are getting closer to resting their case in
Diddy's criminal trial. Yesterday, the twenty fourth day of witness testimony,
and jurors finally saw some of the big evidence literal
videos from the alleged freakofs with Ditty and then girlfriend Cassie. Now,

(02:13):
if this wasn't dramatic enough, where there were encounters shown
from many different angles of Ditty's alleged parties, there has
been drama in the jury. Now we have got one
jur that's been dismissed and won in hot water. The
day yesterday started the judge booting jur Number six over

(02:34):
a quote lack of candor. So the issue being the
guy may live in New Jersey, not the Bronx. That
is a big legal no no. But Ditty's team less
than pleased because this jur is either black or Hispanic
and was replaced by a white alternate jur Meanwhile, another
jur is in hot water for getting a text asking

(02:56):
if he was Juror number six when this news was released,
raising concerns that this juror is discussing the case with
others outside of the courtroom. So now there is an
investigation going into that. Prosecutors are very close to the
end of their witnesses and then it will be the
defenses turn to make their case.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
You know what I hear schmide, woh, I hear lots
of opportunity for them to appeal.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
On this grounds and that grounds at this grounds, well, I.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Think, what did he's ask two or three times now
for a mistrial up? What of the doctors charged in
connection with friends actor Matthew Perry's ketemine death one step
closer to doing hard time because he has officially pled guilty.
This is doctor Salvador Placentia, one of two doctors busted
in the Perry case, agreeing to plead guilty to four

(03:45):
counts of distribution of ketamine. Federal prosecutors say they do
expect him to formally enter his plea in the next
few weeks. While he's facing up to forty years in
federal prison. Both sides have agreed to recommend a sentence
of fifteen to twenty one months. However, it's ultimately up
to the judge. And we have seen in a few
instances where to make an example that really hard sentence

(04:07):
has passed out, so we'll see. Finally, Joey Chestnut is back.
The goat of competitive eating is returning to where it
all started, announcing he will compete in Nathan's hot dog
eating contest. This year, officially ending his beef. I had
to with the annual Fourth of July tradition. He took

(04:29):
to his Instagram yesterday, I'm thrilled to be returning to
the Nathan's famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating contest.
This event means the world to me. It's a cherished tradition,
a celebration of American culture, and a huge part of
my life. Now, of course, you'll remember he did not
participate last year due to that sponsorship drama. He had

(04:51):
an endorsement with Impossible Foods, which means he could not
be part of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating But he
is ready a sixteenth time I'm hot Dog Champion. We'll
see how many you can put down this holiday.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Smitty put some absolute respect on that man's name, Joey
John's chest, the greatest competitive eater of all time. This
is like getting an opportunity to once again see George Wow.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Sorry, this is the goat of eating. Schmitty something we.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
All practiced almost every single day, and he's better at
it than anybody.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
All Right, all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot com.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
We all need little pick me up sometimes isn't that right.
That's the truth, and that's what we're here to provide.
Feeling good right now and starting on five point seven.
Thanks for hanging this morning, and this is awesome. I'm
just a fan, like a lot of sports fan, of
amazing feats being done by human beings, of seeing something incredible,
watching history happen right in front of you, especially when

(05:51):
it's a game you love. And that's what just got
to happen for Arkansas pitcher Gage Wood, who made history
at the Men's College World Series just yesterday by throwing
the tournament's first no hitter in sixty five years and
only the third one ever in the history of the

(06:11):
Men's College World Series, leading the Razorbacks to a three
noth that elimination game win over Murray State. Check this out, though,
This is the part that just I think is so nuts.
He struck out nineteen batters. To put that in perspective,
nineteen strikeouts. No professional pitcher has ever had more than
seventeen strikeouts in Major League Baseball, not Max Schurzer and

(06:34):
Nolan Ryan. They're the only two pitchers in history to
ever get seventeen strikeouts in a in a no hitter,
like that. He only lost the perfect game, which is
where you have nothing but strikeouts and not even a
single walk. He lost the perfect game in the eighth
inn and after hitting a batter on the foot, but

(06:55):
then of course finished.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
It all there.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
But after the game, all he had to say afterwards
was pretty funny, because you know, just your one little
mistake after you just gave one of the best pitching performances,
not just in college baseball history, but in the history
of baseball.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
This is what he told reporters.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I shouldn't hit the guy.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
That's it. That's all I gotta say.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I shouldn't have hit that one guy. That's all I
got to say. He did go on to say that
was the greatest performance of his life, and he's now
also a likely high MLB draft pick. Well.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
She has a third grade teacher, a founder of a nonprofit,
and now officially Miss Michigan twenty twenty five. Hannah Palmer
is her name, Improving you can Truly do it All.
Palmer teaches in an elementary school in Ann Arbor. She
was recently crowned Miss Michigan and calls everything So Surreal.
Known as Miss Palmer to her students, She said, her

(07:49):
mission is to inspire the next generation to embrace every
aspect of themselves. That's how you chase your full potential.
Outside of being Miss Michigan and an incredible teacher, she's
also the founder and CEO of something called The Sunflower Project.
It's a nonprofit focused on mental health education. It offers

(08:10):
resources to help people support loved ones who have been
experiencing mental health crises, and she knows that all too well.
Palmer's advocacy is personal. She is a five time suicide
attempt to survivor. She openly shares her journey with deep
depression and anxiety, and has found sharing her own story
is the way she can help the most. She tells

(08:30):
Channel seven in Detroit, their only limitation for anyone is yourself.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
You are your only limitation. When I really started to
truly believe in myself and say, you know what, I
can do this, I can do it all. I can
be Miss Palmer, I can be Hannah, I can be
Miss Michigan, That's when I started to see that success
of truly believing in myself, you really can do it all,
and that your diagnosis is not.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
A bad sentence.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Isn't that incredible. She said, Listen, this is the reminder
adversity does not define you. We are going to see
some big things from Miss Michigan this year if she
has it her way.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I mean, that's something you don't necessarily ever associate with
the smiles of pageantry and all that stuff. What a
very serious and important thing she's doing.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
She's gonna be a big, big deal.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Feeling good coming at you a couple times a day.
I always want to share awesome things going on out
there with you. We'll do it again this morning coming
up at nine twenty.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Well, Justin Bieber bared it all yesterday, telling the world
he knows he is a broken man, but trying to
fix himself just makes him angry. Not holding back. In
an Instagram, Justin says, people keep telling me to heal.
Don't you think if I could have fixed myself, I
would have already. We've seen countless videos of him lashing

(09:45):
out at paparazzi and talking about the intrusive nature that
it's into his personal life. But it does seem as
though he is suffering seriously in terms of mental health.
He writes, I know I'm broken. I know I have
anger issues. I tried to do the work my whole
life to be like the people who told me I
needed to be fixed like them, and it just keeps

(10:06):
making me more tired and more angry. The harder I
try to grow, the more focused i'm myself that I am.
He goes on to say, Jesus is the only person
who keeps me wanting to make my life about others.
A lot of fans pointing out he doesn't seem to
really talk about Haley or his son, And the most
recent video he posted was this song with him kind

(10:29):
of singing in the background were a man and then
he kind of angles the camera to show some marijuana paraphernalia.
So it doesn't seem great.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
No, it feels like a person who really needs some
help and is going through some stuff. And it stinks
because obviously, you know, part of his problem is that
he just can't get away from the attention that's just
always on him.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
So a lot of comments, a lot of comments brought
that up. They said, you need to leave Hollywood, you
need to get away from these people. You need to
go somewhere very, very remote and just get to focusing
on you. Gray's Anatomy star Eric Dane, facing the brutal
truth of his als diagnosis, Doctor McSteamy as you will

(11:24):
know him as well as the Big Euphoria star, sitting
down with Good Morning America for his first ever interview
following that diagnosis. It's been a year and a half
since the symptoms started to show, and it has been
exceptionally tough.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
I have one functioning arm. My dominant side is your
right side, Yeah, my left side is functioning. My right
side is completely completely stopped working. And then your left
arm is fine, No, it's going. Yeah. I feel like
maybe a couple few more months and I won't have

(11:59):
my left and either sobering.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
It's very sobering. He talks about a moment where him
growing up as a competitive swimmer, he loves the water,
and he was on a family vacation and realized he
couldn't kick his legs hard enough to keep himself above
the water. His daughter actually had to rush to his
rescue and pull him up to the boat, and he realized,
I'm losing everything that I love doing because I'm no

(12:22):
longer safe to do it. He talks about the fact
that this diagnosis has made him mad.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
I just don't feel like in my heart, I don't
feel like this.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Is the end of me.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I'm fighting as much as I can. There's so much
about it that's out of my control.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
How angry does the illness make you?

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Very I'm angry because you know, my father was taken
from me when I was young, and now you know
there's a very good chance I'm going to be taken
from my girls while they're very young.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
It is an absolutely heart wrenching interview and it just
goes to show how Horris fig a diagnosis of ALS
is and they bring it up. They say, there's no
roadmap to this. It is in every single day inventory
of what you're slowly losing.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Christina Applegate also has this correct is this the thing
that she has ms? She has MS, but so different
functionings there. But like, just the idea of losing the
ability to move your own body is just such a
foreign thought to have to think to yourself, like I'm
telling my arm to move and it's just not listening.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
And as a dad, like that was really a big
part of this interview. I've got the full thing up
for you at West Michigan Star dot com. Finally, the
Trump organization announcing yesterday they're getting into the phone business.
The announcement is a big part of extending that company.
It'll feature a monthly mobile plan priced at forty seven

(13:46):
dollars forty five cents. Get it. He was the forty
fifth and forty seventh president. Yes, According to Eric Trump,
I'm incredibly excited to step into this new digital space.
Hardworking America can deserve a wireless service that's affordable, reflects
their values, and delivers reliable quality they can count on.

(14:07):
Trump Mobile also showed off a gold phone. They will
have a cellular plan and a smartphone plan. As I
understand it, though, this will be an Android phone, so
to all the Apple users not quite yet.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Finally a phone where I feel good about ordering my
Trump Bible, Trump vodka, and Trump steaks all coming to me.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
The gold phone is called the T One. All of
your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Com really so stalky, Yep, the soap box is all
set up. She's ready to take a step up here,
and you know what you're calling out some people who
you feel need to pay.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Yeah, the entire state of Michigan. Okay, what are we
We're going in hard this time, guys. And I know
it's gonna sound entitled, but I don't know a single
person that this has not happened to, and it happened
us for the first time this summer. I get that
we're fixing the roads. It's so important Gang roads fixing
the roads. But literally we went to leave a couple
days ago and used Chris's truck to haul some things,

(15:07):
and he's got a nail in his tire. Probably picked
it up because he took a trip to Lancing over
the weekend. And if you've if you've been on ninety
six between Lancing and Grand Rapids, you know that that
construction zone near Lake Odessa is it's insane. They're doing
a ton of work and there's a bunch of stuff.
No doubt he probably picked up the nail through there,
And of course it's not going to be on the

(15:27):
sidewall where it can be patched, or wherever it's able
to be patched. Right, he needs a whole new tire.
So we are finally it feels like maybe maybe getting
ahead on our finances. Nope, four brand new tires yesterday.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
I was gonna say you buttering the phrase we're getting
that dangerous.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
I'm not looking for a hand out. I'm looking for
a hand up man. Who do I get to send
this to and be like it wasn't my nail? I
want the roads fixed? But what are we dumping our
toolbox everywhere? I can't be.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Doing this paying people for pots? What about the nail saw?

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Really? So salky? You said you had to deal with
the slow leaker, right, it wasn't like the pop on
the side of the road. Well, at least there's that,
or else your husband could have been like, this is
a great opportunity for you to practice change an attire.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Oh he would never He knows who I married, he married, bodies,
music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Well it's Kelly Stafford. And it seems like anytime she
says something, the internet is very split fifty to fifty
on this. But it's definitely something a lot of parents
have been talking about. She admits taking something that she
feels makes her a better parent. The wife of La
Rams and former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford revealed in her

(16:46):
latest The Morning After podcast episode.

Speaker 6 (16:50):
Sometimes I feel like commies make me a better parent.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yes, they call me.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
It's like the glass of wine.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
I called it you and I talked with this, the
glass of patients.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
By the time you get to bed and bath, you
just it makes you a better parent.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
Thank you, Thank you for saying that, because I feel
a little guilty, Saw And it's not like I do
it every night, but sometimes I'm like, it isn't a
long day. I don't want to rip my hair out
or their hair out, So I Am going to just
top it off with a little gummy.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Yes, she's talking about weed gummies and says then it
does help take the edge off after particularly long days.
The conversation came about when she was talking about just
that need to try and aid your patience. She says,
this is what Matthew, her husband always tells me. As
long as they're in bedfed, happy and loved, who cares

(17:38):
how they get there. Some days are naturally harder than others,
and he is fine with it. He knows once I
get on one, it can be really rough for everybody.
I just need to take it down a notch. And
this is something that really helps me with that.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
You know, different strugs for different folks, and it's legal,
so whatever. But you know when you say that out
loud to the Internet that you're going to take for that's.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
What I said. It's like fifty to fifty anytimes she
says things. Coldplay was just named the highest earning act
from live shows this year, topping the list of artists'
earnings from live concerts o The band reportedly made a
hundred million pounds. Because this is a UK list, I'm

(18:21):
not sure what that actually equates to into dollars if
you want to go ahead and google that. They are
way ahead of the second place artist Shakira topping out
third place the Kendrick and Scissitor, which is massively successful,
and seventeen that's a South Korean K pop band not

(18:42):
far behind in that fourth place. But I thought it
was really fascinating. I mean, even though Taylor's tour has wrapped,
to have Coldplay that far ahead and still touring. By
the way, ye oh, they're so good. By the way,
I got to see them in Chicago last year, and
I'm telling you, it is literally one of the coolest
shows I've ever seen them.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
They are phenomenal live one hundred and thirty five million
Billia and yeah, that exchange rates good to them?

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Did they thank Taylor Swift?

Speaker 3 (19:07):
They're like, we appreciate you not touring right now so
that we can show Well, they were touring.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
The same time she was, and they were doing fantastic.
I was still seeing sold out shows and they were
on the road same as her.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
This sounds really cool. Finally, Sports Center is coming to
Grand Rapids. ESPN announcing its iconic flagship news and info
program is hitting the road as part of what they're
calling sports Center fifty States in fifty days. It's a
coast to coast tour celebrating local sports stories and sport

(19:38):
traditions all across the country. The Michigan stop takes place
at the Edward Jones Major League Pickleball mid season tournaments.
Of course, this is part of the Big Beer City
Open at Bellnatt Park, so ESPN will be here in
Grand Rapids July eighth to the thirteenth. It'll feature an
air shift during the two PM edition of Sports Center

(20:00):
on Thursday the tenth. Christine Williamson will be anchoring on location.
It will highlight the power of pickleball, the chance that
unites sports fans across the state of Michigan. And we'll
also be able to see this across all of their
ESPN platforms. So I thought that was really really cool.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
It is really cool and no offense to the anchor
that's coming. But come on, Scott van Pelt, make the
trip the Grand Rapids.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
All right, all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan
Star dot com.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Sell five points seven. It's Mack and Schpeinte ready to
battle for some summer fun.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Battle of the Sex is looking to get you to
the Ionia Freefair.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Spinny man, we're talking about such cool stuff. When you've
got the spring car races that I've never seen, a
tractor pull I want to.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Go to that, I want to be in a demolition derby.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
It is the Ionia Free Fair, July tenth to the nineteenth.
We've got your tickets with today's number one answer one
hundred men surveyed. Name something a man spends more money
on when he's in a relationship.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Uh, everything, So you get so hard be same. I
think the same would be true for a woman.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I feel like all right six one, six, four, five, eight,
one oh five seven. One hundred men surveyed name something
a man spends more money on when he's in a relationship.
Caller seven, you've got that number one answer. You and
the family are headed to the Ionia Free Fair with
Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Good morning star. Who's this Jennifer, Jennifer. We're calling for
him today from rapid Jennifer.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
One hundred dudes were asked to name something a man
spends more money on.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
When he's in a relationship. What do you think?

Speaker 3 (21:36):
The top answer was you're gonna save food. Yeah, of
course you're gonna spend more over money on food. There's
two of you now, but eating out is somehow the
third most common answer. I'm sorry, Jennifer, me, thank you,
thank you.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Hi Star. Who's this all right?

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Let's see if we can get you these tickets for
the Olia Free Fair. One hundred guys rest and name
something a man spends more money on once sees in
a relationship. And I just heard food eating out and
that was definitely true. Like I said, there's there's two
people now, so you're gonna be a little bit more. However,
that was the number three most common answers. So you
got a shot here.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
What do you think the top one is?

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Flower?

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Is it flowers?

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Well, you know, I don't know a lot of single
dudes that are dropping a lot of money on flowers
just to you know, put in the kitchen something nice
to look pretty. That's that's really not a thing for guys. Congratulations,
flowers is the top answer? Well, god, wow, congratulations.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Good morning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty and let's
talk shopping. Schmidty.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Something that I know that when I go to a store,
any store, I don't care what story it is, when
it is overly crowded, I hate it.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
I hate it so much that.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Is every store, all the time.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
It drives me insane.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
So when I saw this, I I loved it, but
I'm I'm thinking about whether or not it expands. So
if you did not see this news, Costco has decided
the beginning June thirtieth. They're executive members, So this isn't
just any Costco customer. These are the people that pay
like double for their membership. Basically, they will get exclusive

(23:14):
shopping hours before the store technically opens. So on Mondays,
like the store opens at ten. If you've got that club,
you can get in Monday through Friday from nine am
to ten am before anybody else is in there. That's
not part of the executive membership club, and you get
to shop before the crowd.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Guess I will say. My only gripe about Costco is
that it opens at ten.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
So I mean it's like I'm ready. I'm ready to
shop at like seven am.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
You know, come on, but especially at Costco because you
want to beat the crowds half the time. I can't
stand going on Sunday afternoon because the fruit and all
the other stuff is all picked over because so many
people rush in there right at ten o'clock.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
I was excited to see this. However, like everyone I
know has an executive it's really good to cut down.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
That was my other question.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
So we got the executive membership not because we wanted
to pay extra for it, because they basically gave it
to you for almost for like, oh, if you spend
twenty dollars, now, we'll give you that executive back. We'll
give you the executive membership plus fifty bucks. And it's like, well, dumb,
I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Yeah, I think like every and so I don't know
does it cut down that much on it? Don't get
me wrong, I love me some Costco.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
I think it will a little bit. I'm willing to
give that a try. But what I really wanted to
know from you, Schmiddy is if there are other stores
that you really want to see do this?

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Meyer, I thank you. I thank you first.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Not it's not even the fact that I'm a grown
toddler when it comes to grocery shopping. I'm super sorry.
I don't mean to be rude. I cannot stand the
Sunday strolls.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
It's like I am in there and I used to shop.
I literally I would go at like four am. I'd
go before work, and I'm so sad they stopped at
twelve am to six am. I lovet having anyone in there.
Everybody's just stocking and happy. The music is so good.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Oh. I love people. I love making strangers feel good
to thomselves. I love making people smile. And I am
never a worse person than when I am behind a
slow walker.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
In my body, they're.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Doing that at a grocery store. Nobody's going around unless
you're Chef Jenna with food hugs, making everybody's day. Nobody's
going to grocery store being happy and friendly and not
wanting to just gouge your eyeballs out, because most likely
you are in a rush. You've got a lot to
get and you decided to bring your kids along who
want to hang on the cart, ride in the car,

(25:34):
push the cart. So then I have to figure out
how many medical bills for crushed ankles I'm gonna have
to pay for.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
I saw some Myers are going away from that whole
twenty four hour model, so they'll be closed at least
a little bit. So this is actually becomes possible if
you do that in their Schmitt. What I want to
know is so costco they're charging like sixty seventy bucks
on top of the regular membership for the executive What
would you be willing to pay to do that at
Meyer per years? I think two hundred bucks higher or
lower more than two hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
I'm cheap, so I'm not you would.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
If it were two hundred bucks.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
One with a smile as I walk in, I'm sorry,
I'm a West Michigander at heart.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Let's send you up to another level of positivity every morning.
It's feeling good right here on startin on five point seven.
What's you bring in many?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Wow, this is such a cool moment. And you've got
to know that you work with some incredible people supporting
such a big passion. A twenty seven year old Dearborn
police dispatcher now pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor
after overcoming a very rare cancer diagnosis that nearly derailed
his plans. His name is Justin Drow. He has served

(26:40):
as a dispatcher and police reserve for nearly five years,
but is now leaving his position to begin medical school
at Wayne State University after a cancer diagnosis. Fulfilling your
dreams definitely change his perspective a bit.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
I think it's giving me a very good perspective in life.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
One there's always here that could be worse, and there's
a to be happy that I'm around.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Today, a reason that you are happy to be around today.
And when you talk about Justin's co workers at that
Dearborn Police Dispatch Center, man, you might not find a
more supportive group out there. Channel seven Detroit was there
for the biggest surprise. They'd been working all day to
send off Justin.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
But we're very excited for you, Matt.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Thank you, you Ben, thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
I appreciate all the reading. There's plenty of people who
have encountered, especially people who wanted to become doctors.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
Who had cancer and weren't able to. Hopefully this will
be some hope.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
For people going through Man. Doesn't he sound amazing? Go Justin?

Speaker 3 (27:34):
What a perspective to bring to that profession too. Oh yeah,
super awesome.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
All right.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
This Ipsilani woman, a pastor there, just got a major
surprise from one of our favorite artists.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Her name is.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Anna Taylor mccantz and she has a food ministry called
fed Up Ministries. She says, I love to show love
through hospitality and food is so important in the church
world that I went to my bishop and a couple
of the other pastors and said, we really need to
launch a different kind of ministry. And that's how fed
Up Ministries was born. And operates a food truck and

(28:06):
operates with other nonprofits and brings free meals to people
in the food truck. They also offer a shower and
a laundry trailer. Great organization and for her community work,
she actually got nominated for the pilot pen G two
Overachievers Award, which recognizes people making a difference in their community.
But honestly, she says, she kind of forgot about it.

Speaker 7 (28:29):
Sometime between July of last year in December, we wrote
the grant and I completely forgot about it because it
we submitted it and it was over.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Well.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Flash forward just a couple months back, and she got
an email telling her she was a finalist for that
big award and that she was going to get to
a beer on the Kelly Clarkson Show in New York
City as one of the finalists. A huge fan of
Kelly's from back in her American Idol days. And it
turned out to be a little bit more of just
a trip for a finalist because you were not just

(29:00):
a G two over Achievers Grant finalist, you are, in
fact the G two Overachievers Grant winner.

Speaker 7 (29:09):
Yeah, I like almost jumped out of my seat like it.
It was just so surreal, our own kind of place
for the community to gather, for our organization to go
and to cook in the kitchen and to refill with water.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Yeah, Ae hundred thousand dollars is going to fed up
ministries to allow them to do even more good throughout
the Detroit area. And she is so excited and of
course inspired by her faith.

Speaker 7 (29:36):
Having the faith that like, if this ministry is meant
to continue, if people you know need our services and
want us here, that God will provide.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
God will provide.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
By the way, fed Up ministries to serve more than
seventy five thousand meals and give it over ten thousand
hygiene services like showers to people.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
In need over the last few years.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
So amazing, pretty incredible at one hundred thousand bucks to
do a little more good. Good comes at you a
couple times a day, though, I always want to tell
you about people doing great things out there.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Let's do it tomorrow at six forty five and nine

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Twenty Mackenschmidty in the morning weekday starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
