Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
It makes me.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Lab it Mac and Schmidty in the morning on Star
one oh five point seven plug, I'm won a smitty
good morning. Welcome into it. Happy Friday, and I think
for every Red Blood at American it should be an
extra happy Friday because meaningful football is back and I'm
so happy about it. Schmitting.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Oh, I was going to say, because hopefully you don't
set an alarm for the next Thridays.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
There's that too. We are rolling into a holiday weekend
and here's the great news about that. The best weather
of this week is still in front of us. Yeah,
it's really beautiful, really does. Today highs up into the
upper sixties, near seventy at sometimes. However, the weekend though,
looking at mid to upper seventies, close to eighty degrees
on Labor Day. So if you're looking to squeak in
(00:52):
those extra beach days, those extra times around the pool,
getting out and having some of that hot it's fun.
You still get to do it. Is that so bad?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
No, last night, I know, obviously football all across West
Michigan here Schmidty got yourself to a game.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Oh, Rockford was packed. Unfortunately, not how We wanted it
to go welcoming Selene into town, but man, it was
really really fun.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
The kids went out there. Obviously they're going to have
a great time.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Oh yeah, yeah, we were a front rope baby right
on the forty airline.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Hey, oh, not so shabby.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
We started hearing rumors last week that there were going
to be some major cast shakeups at Saturday Night Live,
and now we know one of their bigger stars, Heidi Gardner,
is saying goodbye, exiting the show after an eight season run,
and viewers yesterday were pretty shocked by this news. The
forty two year old comedians egsity. It comes shortly after
(01:52):
it was revealed Michael Longfellow, Emil Walcome and Devin Walker
will also not be returning for season fifty one. Was
in tons of iconic sketches as a writer too.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
How much should you spend on this ridiculous car, Nathan?
Speaker 2 (02:06):
It was only thirty nine ninety nine to its signing
four grand. It's not that much, babe, And how much
just a monthly payment?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
The what?
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah? She actually appeared on the Joy podcast just a
couple months ago and admitted things behind the scenes that
SNL had gotten a little tough and she was feeling
very fatigued. She said, it's sketch fatigue, idea fatigue. I've
written a lot and I'm just not really sure if
it keeps going. She impersonated a number of high profile
(02:36):
celebs during those eight years on SNL, including Reba McIntyre,
Mikey Madison, and Kim Kardashian.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
She was my favorite of the cast members this far
who has been let go. I'm pretty surprised.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, speaking of Kim Kardashian, she could be your newest attorney.
Ladies and gentlemen. Taken the final big step to becoming
a lawyer. Kim officially took the California Bar exam and
is now awaiting salts. So she popped on social to
get fans an update yesterday, saying she took the exam
in late July, a two day test consisting of five
(03:09):
one hour essay questions, two hundred multiple choice questions, and
then a ninety minute performance test. She was at a
large convention center, did the whole thing, and now she
sits and wains. So she has spent six years working
on her apprenticeship and she's very excited. She's hoping this
(03:30):
is a thing and it would only continue her prison
reform work that she's been on.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
You know, I find this to be absolutely insane that
she went and did this. But here's what else. I'll say.
There's a whole lot of young women out there that
really look up to Kim Kardashian. Whether that's right or
that's wrong, but this is a nice move. This is
a cool thing that she went.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
You know what's crazy. The passage rate for the California
Bar is fifty three percent, not barely has.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Do you not have to take? Do you do not
have to go to law school at all? Can you
just study for the bar and then just take it?
Is that a thing?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I mean, that was a thing. And catch me if
you can. But I don't know life.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I want to pretend to be a lawyer. That's all.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Those results are coming November seventh, and they are public
November ninth, so we'll know finally. Ariana Grande has been
any whirlwind press tour for Wicked and It's sequel part
two obviously coming this November. But she still had time
to make a tour. Wow, we're fans stoked about this yesterday,
first time hitting the stage in seven years. The tour
(04:31):
kicks off in Oakland, California, next June. It's called the
Eternal Sunshine Tour. She is doing a five night takeover
at the Two Arena in London. Unfortunately, this is really
really limited. She's only got about ten dates, none of
them are in Michigan. The closest we really get is Chicago.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Do you think as she goes forward that we'll see
just less and less pop star Arianna Grande?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
No, because, like I think, this tour says a lot.
She said, she's really excited to be back with fans,
get back to her roots. I'm hoping she actually adds
some more days and some more cities. That would be
pretty sweet. Got all the details for you with your
scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Let's do this star on a five point Seeah, Good
morning to you. It's Mack and Schmidty. Happiest to Fridays
to you, and let's make it even better right now.
About a month ago, July twenty eighth, over at john
Ball Zoo, it was announced a new baby snow Leopard
was born, and well, now we have a name, and
I feel like this is fitting. Man. I know it's
(05:36):
not a lion, it's grand Rapids and not the middle
of the juggle, but I'll step up on the pride
rock the brand new name. It's a baby girl born
to Yuki. It's Juniper. I like Juniper.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Oh, say like Zimbar or Scars Juniper.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Okay, name me the Snow Club. I'll take any chance
I can get to play that song. The elephants are
going nuts. They're fans, by the way, that one right there. Yeah,
Juniper born of little snow Leopard. U key over at
the zoo. Now pretty cool. They've been sharing some updates.
She's grown a whole bunch. She had her first checkup,
but people online got to see her open her eyes
for the first time all that kind of stuff. Yesterday
(06:15):
the zoo posting and saying this pod to positively adorable.
Cub has been spending most of her time getting to
know her surroundings and snuggling close to mom. Didn't know
this snow cubs. Snow leopard cubs spend the first year
actually with their moms. They cannot basically leave their sides
different from humans and that you got to spend I
think about twenty six years before you're finally able to
(06:37):
take care of yourself without your mom.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
All right, this is really cool. A shout out to
core Weld Children's over on the East Side that has
come up with an amazing new program as part of
their Animal Assistant therapy. We all know therapy pets, like
therapy dogs we've seen at Helen Devas, have been proven
to show physical, emotional, and social support for both patients
and families. This program will actually gift plush toy dogs
(07:05):
to patients modeled after their favorite therapy dogs. This is
really cool. It's starting with hematology and oncology patients and
one of those patients is Kennedy, who was gifted the
very first therapy plush dog after her favorite pop Millie.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
So, miss Kennedy, this is our first pet therapy Doggie
all for you. Kennedy has been through a great deal.
We treated her for a high risk type of leukemia.
It is so heartwarming when you walk through the halls
on a day that a pet is here and you
literally see these kids down on the floor in their
exam rooms. It's like their anxiety level you're certain has
(07:43):
just come down substantially. Who went Olive or Millie or
Lincoln walks in the room. I think it's really helpful
for the entire family.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, that was oncologist doctor Gowans who said it has
already made such a difference. So we will see a
lot more of this. If you want to see it
for yourself, find out how you can even get involved
with helping to get more plushes. I'll put this up
on our insta at West Michigan.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Star Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
All right, let's pump the brakes a little bit. Travis
Kelsey and Taylor Swift are newly engaged, but not yet
living together. The rumors have been swirling that maybe they're
going to be selling a few houses to buy a big, old,
massive pad. Where are they going to be living. There's
rumored that they were going back and forth between Travis's
childhood hometown and Taylor's. Not the case at all. Nothing
(08:36):
major has been decided or changed about that. Taylor still
has homes in pardon me, New York City, Rhode Island,
Beverly Hills and Nashville, while Travis continues to hold it
down in Kansas City. Of course, with the start of
the NFL season, he won't be going anywhere, and while
they're with each other quite a bit, there is no
place that has both of their names on it. And
(08:56):
considering the jet setting that this couple is still going
to be doing a majority of the time, it is
not on the priority list as of now.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Well, it can't be because whenever they feel like a
new house or a new location, they can afford it.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
I didn't know she had that many properties. I knew
like Rhode Island, I figured New York. But I'm like, wow,
girl is killing it. By the way, their first time
out in public post engagement is coming up next hour.
How long has it been since you've heard the name
Anna Kornakova, the tennis star who ended up marrying Enrique
Iglesias and leaving the spotlight. Well, she is expecting her
(09:35):
fourth child with her hubby. The two have been married
for over two decades.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Do you think the kids came out with moles on them.
I'm just curious if they had their dad's signature hole.
I'm just gonna look it up right now.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
So, of course, the two first met back in two
thousand and one after meeting on the set of Enrique's
video for Escapes Such a Good Song. Cornakova gave birth
to their first kids, twins Nicholas and Lucy, in late
twin seventeen, and then in twenty twenty they welcome their
daughter Mary. While they have not confirmed the news through
their reps, it is being said that she is pregnant
(10:09):
with the fourth and they are just over the moon
about it, still potentially living in Miami. They are very
very good at keeping their life very very private.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I just tried to look
up done on.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Oh they're fantastic. And finally, for my Star Wars fans,
I do think you're gonna like this. We've got a
very first look at Ryan Gosling on the set of
the new Star Wars movie. So this is Star Wars Starfighter.
The big announcement that he had joined the cast made
at a comic con earlier this year, and it looks
pretty epic. So Ryan's role is still super under wraps,
(10:45):
but he is definitely front and center if you believe
the pictures from production. He is leading the movie he
has decided to join as executive producer. You have to
wait a bit. It's not supposed to hit theaters until
May twenty eighth of twenty twenty seven. But it's also
got Matt Smith, Mia goth and Amy Adams. I've got
some pictures posted up. This looks really, really good.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Ryan Gonslin is one of those actors that no matter
what movie he's in, I wind up liking the movie.
He's just one of those rare guys that makes the
screen just literally jump off.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
You know, he's really serving young Ewan McGregor vibes in this.
He really has a very very much obi Wan Kenobi
Field got a post it for you West Michigan Star
dot com with your scoop.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
You wanted to talk about the trips.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
The summer trips. Yeah, what was the most memorable trip
you made? And I realized when I posted this last night,
people were probably gonna be like, well, you know, we
went up north, or maybe you went and visited family
somewhere or a nice lake shore visit, And so I
wrote local also counts because if you didn't do a
(11:50):
ton of traveling this summer, that's okay. Because our most
at least mine. My most favorite trip of this entire
summer was Will's first bike ride on the White Pine Trail.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Hag You.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I think that is absolutely the highlight. And I feel
bad because his sister wasn't a part of it, but
she was out hanging with Graham and Grandpa. We hopped
on our bikes. It's the first time he'd ever taken
that really big kid ride. We went down through downtown Rockford,
we hit the trail, we ended up doing over ten miles.
We stopped and got ice cream. It was just so cool.
(12:21):
He was learning, you know, the rules of the path
and how to pass people and what to say on
your left and making sure he was keeping in line
with other bike traffic. And we got done, and I
thought that was so fun and the first time I
feel like we've been able to do something very adult
like with one of our kids, because that's a big deal.
And now looking back, I go, that was probably top
(12:43):
highlight of my summer.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
The first bike ride, adult bike ride with your parents
where you've got your trainers off and you're actually just
another member of the bike gang.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
The first time you leave your neighborhood. Yeah, that's what
it is for me, that's core memory, the first time
you leave the neighborhood and are trusted to.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
One of the first times we did that was just
actually over in East Grand Rapids Is we went around
the lake and our kids still talk about that to
this day. I think that's a great trip for the
summer trip. What was yours definitely the Up And it's
not just because you know, going across the macanaw Bridge
with your family for the first time super super special,
but it was also really cool because this was the
(13:21):
first vacation we've ever taken with my dogs, and like
that was just an all new blast of fun. The
dogs were phenomenal, but we got to spend time on
private beaches up in the Up where it was just
my two kids, my wife and my two dogs and
nobody around us for miles on gorgeous beaches on our
great lakes. I'll never forget it ever in my life.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
They were public beaches. It's just the Up and there's
nobody around to pull off on this that's the greatest
part of the Up.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
You pull off on the side of the road. Up.
I'm too up.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Everything's private up.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
You are just enjoying lake Michigan with nobody for miles.
But I will say Schmidte that while I was up there,
what I kept thinking was, Man, we're so lucky in
West Michigan that this lake shore is just right down
the road for us here at all times, like it's
just you don't have to go far.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
You're right, I think when you're in the up there
is something like you are never really more than an
hour away from any kind of major body of water.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
It would shock me if you if you could make
it an hour without seeing.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
A lake, that's fantastic. Six one, six, four five eight,
one oh five seven. What was your favorite summer trip?
And like I said, local counts, what was that core
memory of spending time together. I love using this weekend
to just kind of throw it back and think of
the last three months and how much you actually ended
up getting to do and how happy it was to
spend time with your kids. Give us a call or
(14:40):
hit us up on our iHeartRadio app with that free
talk back.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
And hey, if you procrastinated it all the way to
take the big Trick trip until this weekend, that's okay too.
Make those memories today, Make those memories all weekend long.
Mack and Schmidty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Times was spilling Sea take time, spill the too, Sweetheart.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Let's get it into it. You guys get to stay
anonymous while we share the drama going on in your life.
It's a lot easier to deal with than the drama
on our own. Okay, six one, six, four eight one
on five seven. If you want to weigh in on
today's tea time message.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
All right, this is a good one because I think
a lot of parents, depending on the age of your kid,
are going to or are dealing with this. My best
friend's son is thirteen and plays basketball. The rec league
season just started up, and he's loving it, but not
super let's say, athletically inclined. My friend's son doesn't get
to play a ton, finds himself on the bench most
(15:32):
of the time, and her husband wants to pull him.
He thinks it's kind of a waste, especially if there's
something else out there that he can love and thrive in.
She's pretty upset, thinks if he enjoys it, what's the
big deal. But now she feels guilty, like maybe they
are wasting the time and missing out on something he
may be good at which could make him even happier.
So are you pulling your kid?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I mean, my first initial reaction to this is absolutely not,
of course not. First off, he said he's loving it,
So the kid's fine. So beyond that, what I just
see is what's the lesson we're teaching here that when
something's hard or that you're not getting it the way
that you want it, that you should just quit. I'm
not in for that.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
I think at thirteen, yeah, you can have the conversation
does he love it or is he just actually loves it? Yeah,
mom says, Mom says, I think this is interesting at
the age it is, and maybe he is working really hard.
You're getting benched. I think at some point when it
comes to sports, especially when you start getting to like
junior hig high school level, that can be really really tough.
(16:31):
Four eight one oh five seven. You can always send
us a talk back on our free iHeartRadio app. What's
going on, Sean?
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I think the husband wins this argument.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
If the kid's not good at it, I say, take
him out, find something that he does like and can
get exercise from, and enroll.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Him in that.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Do you think like maybe the kid doesn't realize that
there's stuff, other stuff out there that you could be
good at and enjoy more.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
There will be things that they can do. It's not
like basketball season lasts forever. I just don't think that
quitting in the middle is something that's.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
The way to go by, all right, Hey, Amanda, I
just think it's good for kids.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
If the kid is liking it, let him play. Okay,
sorry dad, He's not Michael Jordan. But it doesn't matter.
It's getting you know, kids getting exercised, happy. It's just
good all around. I mean, I guess I played a
lot of sports, so I'm biased, but I think it
really does transfer to some of the other parts of life.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I mean, I totally agree with that. I like what
April wrote on Facebook. My son Love Love loved basketball,
but he was benched a ton as he got older
because his defense wasn't great. He did great in every
other aspect of the game. We decided to stop and
sign him up for track. He was so happy. He
never looked back. Played basketball at home with friends, but
(17:40):
loved track and did super well. Thrived. Maybe an idea
to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
I don't think those I mean, yes, other sports are
out there waiting. The question is is whether or not
you should quit while you're in the middle of one?
Speaker 2 (17:52):
What man, I think at thirteen? I might side a
bit with the hobby. What do you think?
Speaker 6 (17:57):
Six?
Speaker 2 (17:57):
One, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven. We
do tea time every Friday right here on Star. That's right,
you got your drama, go ahead and send it to us.
We'll keep you anonymous if you want. AT's West Michigan Star.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
These music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
It's the Celebrity Scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Well, finally we see the King and Queen themselves, Travis
Kelcey and Taylor Swift making their first public appearance since
the giant engagement news. Of course, Travis thrilled alongside big
Bro Jason Kelcey on the sidelines at the University of
Cincinnati taking on the University of Nebraska none other than Arrowhead.
(18:38):
This is a very cool game and naturally trap pretty stoked.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Cincinnati back Cats. Man, We're about to take over Arrowhead.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
I could feel it.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Baby Bearcats always play good.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Arrowhead Babies. Roof is in the pudding.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Baby, shout out.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
To the cats.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
I miss everybody. Back in Cincinnati. Let's take this one.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Let's bring this one home, baby, really channeling those Jim
Teacher vibes, if you know what I'm saying. Meanwhile, up
in the VIP area, Taylor entered in with Brittany Mahomes
on her side, and the fans were loving it. And
(19:17):
so I think this is just a really cool preview
of probably what you're gonna see a lot of the
NFL season.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
I didn't realize that Travis Kelsey has a baby thing.
He just said the word baby right there. What six
I'm just saying. I wonder how much Taylor has to
endure of that on a daily basis.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
All Right, Sabranda Carpenter dropping brand new music today with
her new album Man's Best Friend. This has been widely
talked about because it is a bit more risque than
some of the past music we've gotten from Sabrina, and
she said that's just fine, not for everybody. She sits
down with Gail King on CBS this morning.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
It is not for the pro clutchers. The album is
not for any pro no.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
But I also think that even.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in
their own solitude. Yes, and find something that makes them
smirk and chuckle to themselves.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
And because it's sexual, it's also very powerful. It's also
very vulnerable.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
I think that's the thing is sometimes people hear the
lyrics that are really bold and they go, I don't
want to sing this in front of other people. It's
like it's almost two it's tmi uh huh. But I
think about being at a concert with you know, however,
many young women I see in the front row that
are screaming at the top of their LUNs with their
best friends, and you can go like, oh, we can
all like sigh of relief, like this is just fun
(20:37):
and that's all it has to be.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, that's just a snippet. The full interview with Serena
is going to air on CBS later this morning.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I feel like we're just doing the Madonna thing with
female artists over and over and over and over.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Have you read some of the lyrics though, it's pretty hot.
And finally, by Twilight fans, get ready. We are coming
up on the twentieth anniversary of the very first Twilight
book from Stephanie Meyers coming out and there's a very
big celebration, a nationwide movie marathon. All five films back
(21:11):
in theaters October twenty ninth to November two. Screenings for
the five night engagement will include roundtable chats with the
author herself, producers, actors and actresses that were part of
the films, and big festivities including a live to film
concert experience for the first movie, and then some kind
(21:35):
of national tour they're putting together. But I saw this
yesterday and people were losing their minds.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
If it's successful, expect to see either a new Twilight
TV spinoff or another Twilight franchise. Mavia, I hope not.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I hope they do it with other books. I want
to see an acatar. I want to see a Preston City. Right,
all right, it's your celebscoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Let's fight on a Friday Battle of the second time
on Star one five point seeah, And it's Mack and
Schmidty trying to get you over to our Frederick Meyer
Gardens and Sculpture Park. Every time I go over for
a concert, Smitty, there's that sculpture of the guy who's
lying on his back with his hands behind his head
looking up at the stars. Okay, he's just he seems
so comfortable and so lazy that that sculpture speaks to me.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
My son can tell you the name after his summer camp.
Oh yeah, he did Tram Travelers. He's quite the expert.
We're talking general admission tickets right now. The entire family
getting to go and check out the gardens, and they've
got programming all year long. Guys, it is such a spot.
Six one, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven
Today's battle question. One hundred women surveyed, names something on
(22:38):
a sandwich that's slimy.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Honestly, that's not a texture I want on my sandwiches.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Inspired lunch meet, Just to heads up, that's going to
help somebody this weekend somewhere.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I just know it.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Six one, six, four, five eight, one oh five seven
callers seven looking for that number one answer. One hundred
women surveyed named something on a sandwich that's slimy. He
could be headed to the Meyer Gardens with starmin out
five points.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Good morning star. Who's this Brandon? Where you come from today? Brandon?
I am at Holland, Hi, Brandon, you gotta tell me.
One hundred women were asked to aim something on a
sandwich that might be described as slimy. What do you think?
The tough answer is the.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Only thing I could think of as a tomato.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, I was going tomato to on it, but tomato
is actually the number four most common answer. Sorry, Brandon,
all right, thanks, Hi star. Who's this, Susan? Where are
you at today? All right, Susan, Brandon just gave me
the answer that I think a lot of people would
have picked. What one hundred women were asked to aim
(23:43):
something on a sandwich that might be slimy. He was
thinking what I was thinking, which was the tomato. But
the tomato is somehow the number four most common answer
on this list. You've got a chance here. What do
you think it is?
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Oh, mayonnaise?
Speaker 1 (24:04):
You're going with mayonnaise. I think of it as like
white gold. It makes every sandwich better, especially when it's
like that chipolte mayo or aoli. Excuse me, when it's
got some sort of flavoring, You got to call it aoli.
But either way, I wouldn't describe it as slimy, but
apparently one hundred women would. That's the top answer when
it goes Yeah, it was mayo, followed by meats, then jelly,
(24:31):
and Tomato, rounding out those top answers. Congratulations, Susan, you're
going to Frederick Meyer Gardens seven points shavy, Good morning
to you, and more importantly, happy Fridays. We roll into
your Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end to summer, And
if it's the unofficial end to summer, then I can
only surmise that it is the unofficial beginning of fall, Schmidty.
(24:52):
But the signs have been there. And I'm not just
talking because Big Bie released all their pumpkins spice stuff
or like when they're.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Hot carmel, a fighter that doesn't get enough.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Long All right, there's that too, And then you know,
I asked this question on Facebook and Christy Schwartz out
of Kalamazoo said college football Saturdays. I'm right there with you, Christy.
I'm so excited for football getting underway. But I want
to know from you what was the first sign of
fall in your home? Because for me, the first sign
was not a changing of a color or anything else
(25:22):
like that, or my grass dying. It was my wife
breaking up all of her clothes out of the basement
for fall because she saw the temperatures earlier this week.
And I swear to God SCHMIDI it was like a
nomad was moving all the way across the country.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
From this, she suss her seasonal clothes.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
We have to.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
We don't have a very big closet in my house
at all. It's one of the things we dislike, especially
my wife. She hates our closet set up because for
every season we've got to basically ship things out and
ship things in. And when she saw those temperatures were
into like the mid sixties and dropping down to the
forties at night, it was time for the full switchover.
And we were still in August.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
It wasn't see I'm superstitious, like it's gonna be eighty
on Monday. So I'm not doing that yet. But I'll
tell you it was two nights ago. I think we
slept with the window open and it dipped down right
near that forty nine. And so yesterday it happened. We
changed into our flannel sheets. Oh no, oh, I love them.
I love them so much. You guys come at me
(26:20):
about an electric blanket, and I want seventeen pillows and
I don't want anyone else in my space. I just
want a crisp breeze hitting just the tippy top of
my face because my comforter's pulled all the way up
and I'm just baking under me. That is the best
part of falling winter.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
My uh.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
You know.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
As she's doing this, I'm like, are you serious? We're
doing this right now? We're getting underway, and she's She's going, yeah,
are you gonna switch your clothes out too? It's gonna
be coult this week. I'm like, first off, I have
like two pairs of shorts that I need to bring
down to the basement when this happens. She needs like
like a conveyor belt system. She needs us. Yeah, he's
obviously like several dudes to bring up all of the
(26:59):
different shipmen some clothes that I feel like enter my
room once fall hits every year.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
You know what I do love about a little wardrobe changeover.
We're finally into the good bonfire weather.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
We weren't able to.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Do that all summer.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Are you getting your scarves out? When am I going
to start?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I cannotch with scarves, but I will do a nice
cowl turtleneck all day.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Feeling good right now and starting on five point seven?
What's coming on?
Speaker 2 (27:22):
All right? So I said we had one more Travis
and Taylor engagement story because it was too good to miss.
Ingham County dispatchers are usually tasked with relaying that very
important nine to one one messaging, making sure people that
need the help get the help. Well, the other day
the big news broke and for one dispatcher in Lancing,
(27:44):
she was way too excited about it.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Taylor Swift is engaged.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Oh I don't know. I didn't look Cleary had an
open mic there.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
That's straight news about Taylor Swift.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Just bench, I'm clear.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Yeah, aren't you happy about Taylor Swift?
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I am John.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
We'll give us some more gas.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
At at least it's a big ring, best top mike ever.
She gave the.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
News to every Ingham County ambulance, waiting until finally someone said, hey,
your microphone is on. She's talking about the ring. She's
talking about the pictures, she's talking about the setting. It
is brilliant and I agree, best hot mic ever.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Too good? All right, schmintey. There's been a band who
hasn't been together in over thirty years, and that is
the Fairest State Bulldogs marching band for their football team. Yeah,
Fairris State three wins in the NCAA Division two national
championship in just the last four years, including this raining season. Well,
(28:52):
now they're going to have that marching band coming back.
Over seventy seven members marching in to top Taggart Field
last night. Again, this is the first time in thirty
plus years. They actually stopped in the nineties because there
was just a lack of interest in the band. So
athletic or excuse me, Director of Athletic Bands, Daniel Atwood,
(29:12):
spent two years putting this whole thing together and he
just says, everybody's so excited for it.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
The excitement is palpable, not just on our campus but
in our surrounding community too. Everywhere I go, people are
asking about the marching band, asking about what the uniforms
look like, asking about how many students are involved. I
could not ask for a better group to work with,
and so I'm really excited even for the coming semester
and what we're going to be able to do and
how the program's going to grow and expand over the years.
(29:39):
So there's still a lot more to come.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Yeah, they're combining a little bit of tradition with of
course lots of new things as well. The band's new
uniforms had a community vote. They've got Brutus the Bulldog
and of course bold gradio designs across all of them.
Their first halftime show last night included dreamond from Aerosmith
Don't Stop Believing of course in there, signed, sealed, delivered,
so some classic favorites. But yes, a team like the
(30:04):
Fair State Bulldogs needs that marching band and they'll be
back and get to be due in basketball and hockey
games later this year too. Love it feeling good, coming
at you a couple of times every day to tell
you about something fantastic going on out there. Just want
to spread a little positivity back to do it again
with you next week six forty five and nine to
twenty on Star Mack and Schmidty in the morning weekday
starting at six am on Star one oh five point
