Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me laugh.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Mac and Schmitty in the morning on Star one oh
five point seven.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Good Mornay, SCHMITTI feels good to say Friday, long week.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, and it should feel real good because you're gonna
get lots of sunshine today. Highs into the low eighties.
We enjoy this final run this summer's got going on.
That's gonna be going through the weekend too. We're gonna
stay definitely warm. Sddy.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Oh yeah, I saw ninety next week, y'all. So if
you were like, stop talking about your Pumpkins spice latte,
you got your wish. It looks stunning for high school
football tonight. We've got big games tomorrow with Michigan State
in the afternoon that I'm really looking forward to big
NFL action on Sunday. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
But let's talk about some of that summer sporting event
(00:54):
because my gosh, our white Caps. What a way to
go out In Game two last night in a full
four nothing shut out. MCU Ballpark was packed. And the
best part of this is that means we get to
hook you up with white Caps tickets every hour this
morning because they've got a Sunday Funday game.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
That's right, two pm on Sunday, Game one of the
Championship Series. All right, this the first time the white
Caps have been there in a decade, since twenty fifteen
that they have made this Championship Series. And the only
home game that we get is this Sunday at two pm. So,
like Shitty said, every hour today six forty five, seven,
forty five and forty five, it is your tickets to
(01:35):
get into the white Caps with the whole family.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
It could be a lot of fun movies, music, and
all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Actress and author Olivia Munn getting real once again about
her breast cancer battle and is being praised online for
the way she's describing it. Not only did she admit
to Bustle in a new interview that dropped yesterday, saying
the diagnose is felt like slamming the brakes on her
whole life. The actress calls it her full time job.
She said once she learned about a free test women
(02:09):
should know about that could help with early detection. She
also made it her mission to let everyone know this
is a big one. She said. She landed her new
show Your Friends and Neighbors, which has been a huge
hit on Apple TV after five years of not working
post COVID, and said she assured the show creator that
she was fine, but was very upfront about everything that
(02:31):
she had gone through. Olivia says John hamm and the
entire crew had her back, even putting donations towards breast
cancer research. She said, make no mistake, my nine to
five has become my fight and my warning to other women.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Unbelievable. What was going on in her life in her
family as well as her husband now John mulaney obviously
had crazy addiction problems that relapsed in that time. Heard
and they welcomed a child too. I mean, it was
all going on at the babies good.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Mama's good, John sober. It's good stuff. Brince Harry, the
Duke of Sussex, making a surprise visit to Kiev, Ukraine yesterday.
Two sources familiar with the matter said the visit comes
after his solo trip to Britain earlier in the week.
The News said that he was on a train ride
to Kiev and planned to visit not just the Ukrainian government,
(03:21):
but also to support the rehabilitation of different soldiers and
wounded Ukrainians that have been on those front lines. Apparently
he is planning to somehow bring his Invictus Games to
the region, just wants to make sure that there is
a safe way to do that. He has visited Ukraine before.
It was an unannounced trip earlier in April, but these
(03:44):
sources say that he's been keeping in very close touch
with Zelensky as well as the entire government to make
sure any support him in the family can put towards
Ukraine is something that can happen.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
I mean, good friend to be visible over there. He's
obviously got a a very passionate record of sirs for
the UK government. I'm not surprised that he went over
to do with the wounded, to see wounded.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
For years the Invictus Games. I mean, that's really his
passion project that he's brought across the world for those
wounded veterans. Finally, it's some backlash after the death of
Charlie Kirk. The political activist Paramount has announced they've taken
down a recent episode of south Park that mocked the
conservative pundon in the aftermath of the Activists assassination. The
(04:27):
Got a Nut episode, however, still available on Paramount Plus,
but will no longer be seen in any reruns on
Comedy Central. It's interesting to point out, though, when the
episode first premiered back on August six, Kirk actually tweeted
about it and said, I've finally made it, saying listen,
(04:50):
if you can't take a joke and not take yourself seriously,
you really don't understand what's going on here. That's what
this show is doing. I'm thrilled it's a badge of honor,
but that will no longer be available on Basic Cable.
You will have to watch it through the app if
you want to see it. All of your celebscu but
West Michigan star.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Dot com, well, it's funny, going to be a beautiful day,
plenty to feel good about. But we got a couple
of more great reasons for you right now. It is
feeling good here on Starwin on fom point seven, Mac
Andsfitty with you and this is cool and updates on
the baby Pygmy hippo that was just born last week
over at john Ball Zoo, as they had a gender
reveal party for that hippo just yesterday. This was really cool.
(05:34):
Dozens of people gathering there at john Ball Zoo to
find out the gender of this new little edition that
of course came from parents Penelope and Jahari. We still
don't have a name yet, but now we do have
the sex of the new little one, and Fox seventeen
was on hand for that special moment. I'm excited.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I'm really glad it's a boy.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
So excited, so happy for john Ball Zoo, so happy
for Penelope and Jahari.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
Congratulation.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
This a boy boy, Yeah, that's right. The onlookers definitely
excited that it was a boy for sure, and the
way they did it was super cool too. They had
the dad Jahari came out there and smashed a watermelon
that was either gonna have blue or pink on the inside.
When they saw the blue, everybody went nuts. It's a
great thing for the conservation efforts as well as there
(06:30):
tend to be more females born than males, so this
will add to those numbers. And now they're still waiting
to give the new baby boy a name and for
when you can actually go see them edge on Ball Zoo.
Those announcements yet to come. However, the Zoo did set
up a live cam so that you can check out
this little baby boy on YouTube. Really cool, all.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Right, they say. It is so much more than a job. Overnight,
five nights a week. Jim Maroon and his team of
custodians are the ones behind the scenes cleaning the nine
eleven memorial reflecting pools in New York City to make
sure the next morning, whoever you might be from, wherever
you might be coming from, you are served that experience
(07:14):
and memory. It was really cool. Jim actually invited some
members from The Today Show for the first time ever
to get a behind the scenes look at the amount
of work that goes into this. It's vacuums and tiny
brushes that make sure this place is kept as sacred
and beautiful as it deserves to be, and Jim takes
that responsibility very seriously.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
It's more than a job because I'm doing it for
the three thousand that lost their lives and everybody around
the world that sees this and sees that this is
not a disaster anymore. It's a future, and it's a
bright future.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Speaking of the future, one of those custodians on his team,
twenty three year old Billy Finch, who was not even
alive when nine to eleven happened, but knows this job
is a noble one.
Speaker 8 (08:01):
This is a position where you're upholding a very sacred site,
a place where no matter what race, gender, no matter
what you are, everyone was affected in some way. It's
a very noble thing and I take a lot of.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Pride in it.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
It's really incredible to think those behind the scenes people
and that's exactly what folks are doing this morning. By
the way, there will be a movie coming out to
talk about how incredible this team is West Michigan Star
dot Com.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I had a chance to go see the monument a
few years ago and it was the quietest place in
New York City by far.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
They put a rose every single day on the names
of people with birthdays that day. It's pretty powerful stuff.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Movies, music and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Well, in the most least surprising news ever, Taylor Swift
on track to break another major record currently help I
none other than Madonna. Ahead of the release of her
twelfth studio album That's Right. She is about to become
the biggest selling female artist ever. She's currently just one
spot below Madonna, who currently holds the title. While the
(09:09):
sixty seven year old has sold an incredible two hundred
and fifty two million records across her decades long career,
Taylor's figure is just shy of that two hundred and
forty eight million sales since that debut single with Tim
McGraw back in two thousand and six. Doesn't that feel
forever ago? Taylor's next studio album, The Life of a Showgirl,
(09:30):
drops October third, but streaming platforms say that pre saves
for the album have already broken their records, So this
is definitely.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Happening in the ends. Isn't basically every selling streaming touring
record tailor's for at least a little while.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
All I'll say is, I'm just thrilled it's always women
at the top of these lists. I mean, you can
talk Madonna, you can talk Beyonce, you can talk Selling Dion.
I love it. Joe Rogan of the Joe Rogan Experience
podcast dropping footage yesterday of the moment he learned about
conservative commentator Charlie Kirk's murder and he happened to be
(10:09):
interviewing none other than Charlie Sheen about Charlie's new Netflix documentary,
and I thought it was very interesting to hear what
the two had to say.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
We just found out that Charlie Kirk got shot.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
It's been awful and is he dead? Whoa murder for
having a different opinion from somebody else? Yeah, different ideology
from somebody else. Nobody deserves. He didn't deserve that. Nobody
deserves that.
Speaker 9 (10:38):
It's so scary. Tried to be pretty reasonable with people.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Everything I saw same, reasonable.
Speaker 9 (10:44):
Very intelligent guy. Yeah, you know, whether you agree with
him or don't. And there's a lot of stuff that
I didn't agree with him on the sure, fine, you're
allowed to disagree with people without celebrating the fact they
got shot, but you can't disrespect his passion.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
It's really interesting back and forth and towards the the
guys are talking about people falling into what they call
a polarizing trap, and they're like, listen, I think more
people than not are actually very calm, cool and collected
people that just want to have conversation. But the Internet
(11:18):
is really ruining us and thinking that people have one
side or the other, and you absolutely can have nothing
to do with that other person, So I posted the
entire moment. It's about four minutes of them going back
and forth at West Michigan Star dot Com. Finally you
wrap up a world torn kiss the girlfriend, Goodbye, Benson.
Boone is back on the market and people were curious.
(11:40):
So he delivered a very emotional speech the other night
at one of his shows, talking about how sometimes people
have to leave your life. While she left, Maggie Thurman,
his once girlfriend, have now officially split. No response from
Boone or his reps, but I guess a reason and
a season, so we will see what's next. He is
(12:02):
still in the middle of his American Heart Trap tour,
by the way, So but the album coming out, I
guess single Life, Mingle.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Life, You're gonna go out on a limb and say
beautiful things? Was not about her? Is that might have been?
Speaker 4 (12:15):
But I guess he's into his new season. All of
yours slib scoop at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Good morning to you. It's back in Schmitty and here
we go into a weekend. And you know what, Lions
fans have a gross taste in our mouth that was
left by the Green Bay hackers unfortunately to open this.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Sea Yang and did you see them last night? That
is going to be a hard team to be I know,
I really wow.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And now that we've gotten you into your pit of despair,
let's bring you back out again and talk about food, spitty,
because we're welcoming Dabears this weekend and.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Neither one of us look very good. Let's be real honest.
I thought we had a chance last week on Monday
Night football and then we screwed that up. So neither
one of us, I think, is feeling super good.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
I can tell you this. Whoever loses on Sun is
going to I said, pit of despair. That is where
you will find yourself for a while.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
So I love talking food when it comes to any
sporting event. You catch me at a baseball field, I'm
getting a pretzel and the melted fake nacho cheese. You
catch me at if I'm at like a high school game,
I'm absolutely getting a slice of za, especially if it's
from a local spot. And every year the NFL stadiums
(13:27):
especially come up with kind of unique food offerings. And
I saw this and went, huh, I'd give it a go.
There's a brand new dish that they're going to be
serving up at Ford Field on Sunday because it is
the home opener, so this is our first chance to
kind of check this out. It's called the Jamier Spin
Dash Combo, so it was actually inspired by Lions running
(13:47):
back Jamiir Gibbs, as I understand it, he did consult
a bit on this thing. It is a pizza on
top of a burger, served with custom Sonic Golden ring
top and Honolulu Blue sour Patch kids. Are you putting
that down your gullet?
Speaker 2 (14:07):
The thing is is that I think that that sounds
kind of gross when you say it out loud, but
as it enters my stomach. I love sour Patch kids.
I love pizza and I love burgers, and honestly, I
could do pizza on a burger.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
The only thing that turned me off was the sour
Patch kids. I'm not a huge fan, but when you
look at pictures of this, it really looks delicious like
a pizza burger. Sounds amazing.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
And then Tots, I mean, you can't go wrong with Tots.
I'm fine with them, oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
And so I'm thinking like it harkens back to when
they announced the Fifth Third Burger back when it was
Fifth Third Ballpark for our white Caps, and I had
that opening day and it was amazing. And that thing
was supposed to feed like eight people and they were
like all sabotizing two and a half of us that
took that down. So I love park food.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, I Taking stuff and make making it ridiculous is
a great thing. And I think the West Michigan white
Caps do a great job of that every single year.
Those guys are always coming up with fun and cool
food inventions and asking fans for it. The other thing
I saw the Lions are doing is they're welcoming the
away team with sort of like dishes that are common
where they're at. Like I think this weekend at Ford
(15:20):
Field they're serving some sort of of Chicago beef sliders
and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
As a really comes is they've got twenty local places
that are serving food at Fordfield this year, like it's
supposed to be this amazing partnership. I was looking up
some interesting things you can buy at other stadiums. This
is very interesting. The Cardinals offer a Jackalope mac stack
sausage made from smoked antelope, rabbit and pork topped with
(15:48):
flame and hot cheetos, dust, green chili, mac and cheese
and more.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Who's asking for that meat trifle?
Speaker 4 (15:55):
I don't know what A jacka lope's not real?
Speaker 10 (15:58):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (15:58):
I see what they did, hell rabbit port. I would
never eat an antelope, but I would give it a
try with the green chili meg.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I'd just like to see the wheels turn in your
head when you were deciding whether or not a jack
a loco animal.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
They also have a cotton candy burrito, which features cotton
candy and then a bunch of candy on top of it.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
What's it?
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Ratten in a flower?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Shall that makes it nasty? That's just disgusting.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
The cowboys have a fre Doo's Sunday, a dessert that
puts Fredo's on top of like seven different kinds of
ice cream.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Okay, that sounds weird, but salty and sweet together. We
all know that's actually really good.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
All right, So guys, hit me up six one six,
four five eight one oh five seven the weirdest thing
or the most delicious thing you've ever eaten at a
sports stadium. I would love to hear it. All right,
let's get to your traffic. We've got a crash in
Greenville fourteen mile at Lincoln Lake Avenue, a two vehicle
crash in Zealand ninety sixth Avenue at Quincy Street, plus
a crash in Caledonia slight slow down Duncan Lake Avenue
(16:57):
at Johnson. If you see a traffic tie up, color
Star Traffic Tip Line six one six four five eight,
one oh five seven.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
I'm still trying to get over the fact that there's Antelope,
a food offer at a Major League ballpark Stadium's Mack
and Schmidty in the morning on Star one oh five
point seven, time.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Does spill in tay?
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Time spill the too, sweetheart.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
We like it when you spill your tea because it's
just a lot easier to deal with than our own drama, which, well,
let's face it, we share all the time anyway, Mac
and Shimiddi here on Star one oh five point seven.
What's happening in the tea Time?
Speaker 4 (17:27):
I think this is actually a really common problem for
couples who have split. We got the email. My best
friend is dating a divorced dad and she is very
involved with his two kids. That means she interacts a
lot with his ex wife. Now the ex wife is
wanting to follow her across all of her personal social media,
and it feels weird. My friend doesn't want this woman
(17:49):
to know every detail of their life, and it feels
like that really blurs the boundaries. It is still her
boyfriend's ex. Is this not a big deal or would
you be blocking? I mean, I don't know if I've
seen a tea time this split in a while.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Looking at the comments, I think it's interesting only because
I feel like if you're not comfortable with it yet,
then you're just not comfortable with it yet. You don't
have to add somebody to your social media that you
don't want to just because they want to be appay.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
So then do you say something to her or do
you just block her? Six one six four or five
eight one oh five seven? Helen said, put on your
big girl pants and tell her. Beth said, you don't
want the woman to know the details. You shouldn't put
everything out there. I think it's normal for another person
to want to see how this person is involved in
their kids' lives. Tracy puts it on the X. Tell her,
(18:40):
tell your boyfriend that he's got to talk to her,
and say, don't do this that's.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
True, though, I don't think that that's out of line too.
Request that the baby daddy is the one who has
a talk with.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
The kid's mom, but Steve, big red flag block her
across everything, don't even give her the chance. I mean,
that's that's what I would do.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Really, I just feel like, does not does that not
lead to some tensions, some drama that you feel like
might be unnecessary?
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Depends on the social media. You might not know you're blocked.
You just can't find them. You can change your privacy
setting and can't find them. Close friends six one six,
four five eight, one oh five seven not a big deal,
or you like, you've got to block this woman until
you guys are in a much different place.
Speaker 6 (19:19):
Hey, Lara, don't do it. It's a trap. It is
a trap because the thing is that she's going to
try to be your friend, and then whenever something goes
wrong between you and the guy, naturally you're going to
go to a friend to talk about it. And if
you go to her to talk about it, she could
use that against you. She could just kind of work
around you.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Just just don't do it, somebody.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
These are women that have had experiences. Women sometimes right there.
I'm a girl's girl, but I would feel very similarly.
Good morning, Sarah.
Speaker 10 (19:48):
I think she should tell her that she's not, that
her social media is not even that active, and that
she's not you know, she doesn't really interest with social media.
I'm on social media, but I don't really do much
on it at all. So she can she can claim
to be with me.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Actually that's what I would do. Just a bunch of
stars book never heard of it. Have a great race time.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
That's awesome. Oh tea time each and every week you
want to weigh in on this, we got it up
for you right now on Facebook at West Michigan Star.
But we will watch yours drama right same place that
you send it to us each and every week. Will
keep you anonymous. If you want tea time every Friday.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
It's the celebrity Scoop on Star one oh five point seven.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
We'll give me just a few minutes for your scoop
and then you will hear brand New and Sharon because
today his eighth studio album Play has finally dropped. You've
heard a few of the earlier singles. This is where
as zomb comes from Sapphire Old Phone Inspire, partly by
his exposure to Indian and Persian musical cultures. He calls
(20:58):
this a brand new era for himself. It was an
album that was made as a direct response to the
darkest period of my life, he writes on Insta. It's
a real roller coaster of emotions from start to finish.
Encapsulates everything that I love about music, the fun in it,
but it's also where I am in life as a human,
a partner and a father. So one of those brand
(21:20):
new songs off the album Camera we have coming up
right after Scoop. I was super excited about this album
coming out.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
I think it's really interesting just how you can hear
his travels yeah in the music so much like I
just think it's interesting for an artist from the UK
to be featuring sounds that you hear from Africa, from you,
from Persia, from all throughout the Middle East. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
This was shocking to me. Former Olympian and Superstar athlete
Sean White and actress Nina Dobro have split up. This
was after five years together and more than a year engaged.
This this was really shocking to fans Apparently, the breakup
was a mutual decision. According to a few outlets reporting it,
(22:07):
including People Magazine, it was made with love and a
deep respect for one another. I mean, we were looking
at pictures just two weeks ago and they looked very
much in love. But fans looking back did notice that
Dobrov was at a red carpet event for the Toronto
Film Festival the other night without her engagement ring, and
she did unpin all of the engagement posts from the
(22:29):
top of her Instagram page. But I thought these two
were so fantastic.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
It's pretty hardcore to go from being engaged but then
having that drag out for five years.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
Well, no, they were engaged for a year, they were
together for five but they did everything together and then
it was just like pump the brakes done. So let's
give you updated. Finally, this is the cutest thing you're
going to see all day. The NFL has collaborated with
some of our favorite players on dog treats. Oh, this
is really cool. It's thanks to Bachi's Bakery. They've teamed
(22:59):
up with Chewy dot Com and this will also be
carried in select pet stores across the country. For instance,
Bengals Star T Higgins has tacos for his pup Roscoe.
Jake Elliott's cheesecake cheese steak excuse me in honor of
his pups Willie and Roxy. You can even get Kean
(23:19):
Coleman's wings literal chicken wings in honor of his pup Scooter.
We've got nachos, cheesy bites, and it all is going
towards a super great cause, supporting a ton of animal
shelters all around the country.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
I don't like it when they make dog food sound good.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Like all of your celebt scoop At West Michigan Star
dot com four.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
And seven, they are your Eastern Division champions after a
ford to nothing will be in last night at LMCU Ballpark,
and for the first time since twenty fifteen, are West
Michigan to white Caps playing for the championship.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Schmiddy, This is really cool. By the way, I want
to give a big shout out to hate Mitten his
best outing of the season, tossing six scoreless, hitless innings
last night. These guys are the real deal, and Sunday's
game is going to be a ton of fun. Your
chance to win with today's number one answer, We've got
(24:16):
one hundred women surveyed name something you eat that comes
on a stick.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
I mean, I have that popsicle addiction that you're well
aware of, so to me, that's the only.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Thing to go by.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
The joke ones I'd buy, No, I'd buy the fruit
ones with the jokes. If they were on there, I'd
be super happy, outshine. Honestly, you should take that at consideration,
like I'd like to have fresh fruit while also getting
my funny and.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
The dad jokes of the day.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Good morning Star. Who's this?
Speaker 10 (24:42):
Carson?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Carson? Hold? Are you dude?
Speaker 6 (24:45):
Nine and a half?
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Nine and a half? Are you in fourth grade?
Speaker 6 (24:50):
Nice?
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Shout out your school, Carson. Alrighty, let's make it happen
for all the kids over there. You gotta tell me.
One hundred women were asked Carson to name something you
eat that comes on a stick. What was their top answer?
My friend, corn dog? A corn dog. Do you like
corn dogs? Do they serve them at school?
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah? I was gonna say, what else? What else do
you like that comes on a stick?
Speaker 10 (25:17):
Opticle?
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Oh yeah, popsicles are good, ice cream bars those are
good on there. Cotton candy usually comes on a stick.
All those are good options. Really, if it comes on
a stick, it's probably a pretty solid choice. But the
one that you were thinking of, Carson, well that's the
one that's gonna get your family with the West Michigan
white Caps playoff game on Sunday, corn Dogs the top answer. Yeah, congratulations,
(25:41):
you got four tickets to go see the West Michigan
white Caps in their championship series on Sunday.
Speaker 10 (25:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
You are so welcome, and we will have more tickets
coming up again next hour, be listed. You want to
go cheer on the Caps, we start one oh five
point seven. Congrats Carson, thanks you point seven. Good morning
to you. It's Mack and Schmidty. Thanks for starting your
day with us. Perhaps maybe your day starts with a
task that you have probably been doing, if you still
(26:10):
do it, maybe every morning of your life. Basically, that's
making your bed, Schmidty. Your kids are still too young.
Does even Will does Will make his bed?
Speaker 4 (26:21):
He doesn't, but he's also in a bunk bed. Oh yeah,
so chop bunk can be kind of hard.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Hey, yeah, there's no judgments coming here because my kids,
my kids do not make their beds very often at all.
And that's actually why I'm bringing this up because I
was forced to make my bed every single day as
a child. My dad was in the military, and so
that was always something that was part of your routine.
That was something you needed to do to start each
and every day. And if I had my bed unmade
(26:48):
and he got home from work before I had a
chance to do it, I was gonna hear about it
for sure.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
See I would get home from school and if your
bedroom door was shut, oh yeah, problem, cancel plans. Probably
not going out this weekend. You didn't make your bet.
I do judge myself. I think my kids should be
making their beds every single morning.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
See it's really interesting.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I think it's a sense of accomplishment, responsibility. And I
used to do it, but I just leave now when
everyone's still asleep.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
So this is what I brought it up for, because
my kids are always you know, they get an idea
in their heads and then they want to pay for it, right,
And it's always like can I have money for this?
Can I have money for that? And we say, well,
you know, if you want extra, you can earn it.
There are different things that you can do. You can
do chores and all this stuff, but my kids. They'll
start chores, but they can't keep it going. They've got
no consistency. And I said to him, I'm like, before
(27:34):
this week started, I said, you guys can't even make
your bets. I'm like, first off, every time you do it,
I got to go back and show you how to
do it correctly, and most of the time you completely
forget to do it. Anyways, you guys can't even do
a week of making your bets. And they're like, yes,
we can. I was like, tell you what, twenty bucks
each if you guys make your bed. If you guys
make your bed for the whole weekh I knew Schmidti,
(27:55):
I was gambling with Ay, it's house money. But second secondly,
I knew I was never going to have to pay
a dime and I don't because Connor made it all
the way to Tuesday. He made his bad on Monday.
Tuesday couldn't get out the door in time. Charlotte props
to her. She made it all the way to yesterday. Yesterday,
she did not do it. She had softball last night
(28:15):
and I got home and I'm like, oh, there we go,
and both kids were like, it's hard. What are you
talking about it's moving sheets and pillows.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Doesn't feel bad as a parent.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
It makes me feel humiliated as a parent.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Kids are like it's too hard to make my bed.
I would be like, oh, oh what I failed something? Yes,
like this, because I do think it's I We actually
two people we work with make their beds every morning
before they come in.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Before they come in, when they come in. See, this
is the thing because my wife's the one who's in
our bed when I leave to go to work, obviously,
and so I blame all of this on her. She's
the one who's there in the morning. She could start
the day cracking that whip getting those beds. You know what,
just not the priority.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Maybe it doesn't matter to you guys anymore. Does anybody
still have their kids making beds? I'd love to hear it.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Six five seven Hit a Chef online team that's West
Michigan stuff. It's Friday, the sun is shining. There's lots
to feel good about, and we are always here to
give you more feeling good Right now on Star one
O five point seven.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Oh my gosh, have you seen the viral video of
baby Stella? What was a really cool moment at the
US Open last weekend will now be preserved forever. So
baby baby Stella inspires smiles wherever she goes. Just ask
her mom, Katerina Buck. But it was at the US
(29:34):
Open sporting her baby pink helmet that had heads turning
and in video that was posted to TikTok and Instagram,
Baby Stella could not be turned down. Multiple massive names
in the world of tennis signing her helmet, everyone from
Andrea Augusty who was doing some commentary, to major players.
(29:58):
It was the coolest moment. And when they got back
home here to West Michigan, Katherina thought, oh man, this
helmet's pretty incredible. It's got all these major athletes. I
don't want it to necessarily, you know, tarnish or start
to fade. So she reached out to their help at
Mary free Bed and no worries at all. Shannon Abbott,
a certified oritheitist at Mary free Bed, told Wood TV,
(30:21):
the company that makes the helmets, was thrilled to help.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
We just made a call to orth America as the
company and asked them, hey, we have the situation. You
might have seen this baby at the US Open.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
It's one of ours and.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
We would really like to potentially get her a second
helmet if that's possible, and they were happy to do
that for.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Us, And it was really cool because normally these helmets
are super expensive, like two to four thousand bucks. But
now Baby Stella's got a brand new helmet. The signed
memorabilia will forever be a part of her story as
well as that great video.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
It will definitely be obviously something we keep forever.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
And the best story that she has to tell. It
is her story. She doesn't know it, she won't remember it,
but it only happened because of her. And here's what
I really really love. Do you know who Baby Stella's
grandma is? None other than be Nice founder Christy Buck,
who I absolutely love. She was actually in studio on
my other show a couple weeks ago and said this
(31:18):
was just so cool and the video with the laughs
and the smiles is so perfect. I'll have it posted
at West Michigan Star dot com.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Some parents get to keep like the baby shoes, they've
got that any.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
Yeah, a bunch of US Open Athlete signatures is a
pretty nice parting gift.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, too cool? All right, Speedty, of course, we got
our lions tacking on your Bears this weekend, but Detroit
Lions and Myer team enough to take on food insecurity
across the state at Michigan yet again. Just real quick,
I wanted to let you know. The flags that feature
a limited edition Lions design that they change up every
year is available at all Meyer stores as of this
(31:56):
past Wednesday, all right, fifteen bucks with any purchase. And
this is the reason I bring it up because Meyer
donates all the proceeds from the sale to the Detroit
Lions Foundation. Put out a statement when they launched it again.
The flag provides a way for fans to continue to
support the team while also making an impact on communities
throughout Michigan. As this initiative grows year over year, we
(32:18):
look forward to increasing the impact we were able to
make when it comes to tackling food insecurity. So if
you want to route on the Lions plus out help
people right here in our home state, go ahead and
pick up one of those flags at Meyer and some
sweet swag. All right, feeling good coming at you a
couple times a today. I always want to let you
know about the great things that are going on out
