Speaker 1 (00:01):
Broadcasting live across the world right now.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is the John Jay and Rich radio program.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
We got Nick Cannon in the studio right now, and
this is absolutely insane. It's like my childhood sitting right
in front of me. I'm talking, drum line, roll bounce, Like,
what is going on here?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Wild and out? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
I Uh, it's so funny because so I graduated in
two thousand and four and you've kind of been like
everywhere in my life and like we like the weirdest times, dude, Like,
so wild'n out starts like the year.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I graduate high school.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Absolutely, and then like ten years later you're on America's
Got Talent and my wife and I got super into
it and we went to like the live show and everything.
Oh and like now you're here sitting in front of
me and it's wild. Uh yeah, no for real. Uh,
Before we get into it, I have to ask because
my friends from high school will uh like banish me
(00:58):
if I don't ask.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
So we were big fans of the Chappelle Show.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Yes, me too.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
What was it like getting that shout out? Oh? I
mean I'm the one specific, the one specific.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Where as Nick Cannon, Yeah that way, he's like where
he's like, you know, his son is like Nick's hilarious,
Like like, were you just sitting at home You're like,
oh shit, but not.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
David is a close friend, like I've known him, you
know for years, yeah, since I he started when he
was fifteen. I started when I was fifteen. He's like
ten years older than me. So he's always been like
a big brother. Like, so I knew about all everything
that he was. Okay, I used to be on set
and all that type of stuff. So he's just that's
that's big bro right there. But I mean I didn't
(01:46):
know it was going to take off, like because it's
so weird because he had he would do so many
different sketches and so many things and to see what
the audience would pick up on, like the little John
stuff or like all the catch for the Rick j Well,
we knew that Rick James stuff was gonna go. Yeah,
but it's like you never knew what people would respond
to because his humor is so off beat and stuff.
(02:07):
So I didn't I didn't think i'd be you know,
twenty years later, people will still be walking up to
him saying Nick Cannon is a hilarious Oh.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
It's like it's on and our producers are from back here.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We just walk around. You got to get out of
the room.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
You're too much. So Tomorrow night and Glendale. What can
people expect like expect from the Wilding Out Tour?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Man, if you're a.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Fan of Wilding Out, it's wilding Out on steroids, you
know what I mean. It's a concert version of what
you see on the television show. And honestly it's truly
a concert because we got superstars like Kevin Gates and
money Bag Yoda to be performing. Yeah, but then we
also you know, we do all your favorite games from
the show.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
We bring people up on stage.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
It's it's probably to me one of the best concert
experiences because you're getting every style of entertainment and it's interactive.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Right, that's gonna be sowed up to. How do you
go about when you go and hand pick these people
to interact within the show.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
There's so many crazy people in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
They like it's easy, like pick me, pick me, usually.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
People with Wilding Out shirts on, or the people we
tap into because you know they're big fans. And then
we kind of say, like yo, if you want to
be a part of the show, you know, rock a
Wilding Out shirt and then or go up to the
merch booth and buy one right and you know, we'll
bring you on stage. So we're playing to let Me
Holler game. We're playing family Reunion.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
We're going yeah, exactly, I love Wilding Out, But it's
the chain ging gonna be there because it's over here
in the studio and.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Street cred over there.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
So like we we got three or two thirds of of.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
The I went to homecoming with his son. His son's
like one of my best friends.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
He just made him feel really old.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
He looked just like him. I text, I say, yo,
daddy walking in this studio looking just like you. They
like the same, They look exactly the same. But I
was like, I was really excited to have you in
here because I got so many connections and stuff like that,
so we're super excited to have you here. I really
do appreciate not being the only black person in the
studio because usually he's rough out here. It's not gonna lie.
(04:15):
I feel real safe right now.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Like you say that now, and I don't know how
to respond.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
You shouldn't you get shouldn't you probably should just let
her have it.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I'm also appreciated if you're not.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Real. It's a real thing that I go through every
day in this building. I think I'm the only black person.
I got one more down the hall.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
It's like you look at you look at me like
it's my fault with that.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
But that's gonna be super fun. You got the all
Star cast music performances, super dope, and you said it's
a family friendly events. So are we picking on some
kids are here?
Speaker 5 (04:49):
No?
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Absolutely, it would probably be my kids.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Okay, I'm like, and speaking of your kids. Our producer,
our digital girl right here is a big fan of
your son Legend because you love she loves Breon, selling
Sunset and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
So I'm a big fan of them too.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah yeah, I would have.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Right right. So So twenty I mean twenty years of
wild'n Out?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
What is that? What is that?
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Like?
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I mean to have a like, even a career in
entertainment that last twenty years, let alone a specific show,
like how does that feel? Hearing like twenty years of
wild'n Out?
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Would have never have fathomed it in a sense to
where it was just something I It wasn't even I
was doing this show for fun. You know, it wasn't
like it was like, oh yeah, I'll do this in
my spare time because you know, trying to give my
friends jobs, like I was doing movies and music and
had a bunch of other stuff popping. And then for
this to kind of have the legacy that he's had
when you look back, you know, two decades later, like
(05:48):
oh wow, we're still doing this. It's still just as relevant,
just as vibrant. So it's truly a blessing.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yeah, I gotta say. And Justina Valentine is like my
she I'm a fan favorite for her, like that is
my girl. When she was on Old Code on MTV.
Is that where you pulled her from or how did
that connection?
Speaker 5 (06:03):
She just a superstar all and honestly, Justina is I
feel like just beginning, I feel like she has the
ability to be like at Lady Gy got level talent
and for real, just because I think she's just scratched
the surface of what she's capable of because we just
know her as this, you know, funny freestyle rapping girl
from what I'm out. But she she can act, she
(06:24):
can direct, she can like sing actually, so I can't
wait to see you know how far she'll be able
to take it.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Who's whose idea was it to take like wilding Out
on tour?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
So I think it's brilliant.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Yeah, I mean we started we had a show called
wilding' on Tour where I really you know, I started
seeing a lot of most of the people on the
show stand up comics and they started doing shows, and
I knew we had a strong college audience.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
So we started.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
We got a bus and put everybody on a bus,
and we not only were we doing shows at different colleges,
but we were like stopping at place like the Grand
Canyon or just different, you.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Know, and we made a TV sh out of it.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
And while doing that show, we stopped off and we
saw Kat Williams in an arena and I was like, man,
how crazy would it be one day if wild'n Out
could you know, pack out an arena like this?
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (07:13):
And one of our cast members, Rip Michaels, was like,
we can this is easy.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
I can make this happen. I was like, shut up,
yeah right.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
And he was like watch And then literally less than
a year later, he had start, you know, he created
the whole wild'n Out Arena.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Tour, right, and in this show or this tour right
here is going to be at Desert Diamond Arena out
in Glendale, which is the biggest arena in the in
the state. So it's a it's a big it's a
big venue over there. So I'm excited to see you know,
how packed out you haven't how crazy it gets.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Now we're gonna turn up. We can have a good time.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
How long is it? How long is the tour?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Like?
Speaker 5 (07:45):
How like how you have Well, we're doing it to
the end of the year and then you know, we're going.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
To Africa after that.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
It's like, yeah, so we stopping stopping the US run
to take it abroad to the big continent.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Man, that's crazy. Yeah, good for you, thank you, that's
that's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
I I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I like especially like when wild'n Out premiered, It would
give me such anxiety because at that time I didn't
really understand improv comedy and like, like, how are.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
They doing how are they doing this? Why are they
doing this?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
It seems like they're making fun of each other, but
they're really good friends.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I guess I don't.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Know what we do here Nick every single day?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah, now we do it and I'm you know, it
took me twenty years to understand that.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, that's I think you're pretty good at improv comedy.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
I mean, if you could do radio, you can definitely
do improv because that's what you guys do for living.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Right, Yeah, one of my I barely do that.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
My co host is in my ear all the time.
He's like, you need to go to improv class. You
need to go to improv class. And I just keep
pushing it off because I get nervous. But I'll check
it out.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
I'll see what's Embrace the nerves, use it as adrenalin
in whatever you're scared of.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Lean into it.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
All right, So Wilin' Out Livetour dot com. Uh tickets
are still available, Yes, so go there they sell out completely, Yeah,
because they definitely will Glendale Desert Diamond Arena tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's so exciting.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, that's gonna be a good time.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Let's go
